12 Best Pizza Spots in Bayeux

After a morning spent exploring the majestic Bayeux Tapestry or wandering the cobbled lanes of this historic Norman town, a deep hunger is almost guaranteed. Bayeux is not just a gateway to the D-Day landing beaches; it is a surprisingly vibrant culinary destination. While the region is famous for its creamy cheeses, apple brandy, and rich meats, the local pizza scene offers a comforting and delicious alternative to traditional French bistro fare.

Finding the perfect slice in a foreign country can sometimes be a challenge, but Bayeux makes it easy. The town boasts a variety of pizzerias ranging from cozy wood-fired establishments to modern Italian trattorias. Whether you are looking for a quick takeaway after a long day of sightseeing or a relaxed sit-down dinner with a bottle of local cider, there is a doughy delight waiting for you.

The secret to the quality of pizza in Bayeux lies in the local produce. Normandy is a land of rich dairy, meaning the mozzarella and cheese blends used here are often exceptionally creamy. Furthermore, many chefs incorporate regional ingredients, such as locally smoked ham or sautéed mushrooms from the surrounding forests, giving these pizzas a distinct Norman twist that you won’t find in Paris or Marseille.

Navigating the dining scene in a tourist-heavy town can often lead to overpriced and underwhelming meals. That is why we have done the legwork for you. We have evaluated the crusts, the quality of the tomato sauce, the generosity of the toppings, and the overall atmosphere to bring you a curated list of the best options available.

Whether you are traveling with family, on a romantic getaway, or simply need a solo spot to refuel, this guide covers the full spectrum. From traditional Neapolitan styles to hearty, thick-crust creations, you are sure to find a spot that hits the spot. Get ready to trade your fork and knife for your hands and dive into the cheesiest, most satisfying meals in Calvados.

Here is our curated selection of the top pizzerias that Bayeux has to offer.

Excellent pizza - a big menu with a variety of options. The garlic crust was light and delicious. This is a small place so I would suggest making a reservation. We went in the off season so it wasn’t too busy right before 7 and we found a table inside. The staff was friendly and the we all enjoyed our pizzas. Quick service too!
Elyse Nicholls★★★★★
The pizzas were so dang delicious!! We got three, and they were all fabulous. Soft bubbly dough cooked in a wood fire pizza oven so they had a delicious char to them, with a thin crust. Fresh vegetables, delicious meats, and aromatic herbs. It’s so good we came back a second time!

We arrived at a great time, just before the crowd. We were warmly greeted by the ladies. Oh my gosh, the pizza is fabulous! The crust-indescribable. More kinds of pizza than we have ever seen on a menu! The servers were super. Plus it is located right down the road from where we are staying.

Service was slow, but mostly due to being understaffed. The waitress seemed very short with people. Restaurant is very clean and well kept. Great portions and a beautiful, rustic location

We stopped on the first night at around 6:30. We were told they only open at 7:00. When we returned at 7:00 an extremely rude waitress asked us if we had a reservation. Since we did not have one they refused to serve us even though every table was empty. Why could they have not told us this at 6:30 when we first arrived? We made a reservation for the next evening. We should not have bothered. We were served by the same rude waitress. The pizzas were mediocre and overpriced. A real tourist trap.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our lunch here earlier this afternoon! We are from America and have been traveling various parts of Europe, pizza is definitely one of our “things” back home and we loved the menu offerings of Le Florentin. The pizzas were giant, flavorful, and obviously made fresh. The prices were extremely generous for a tourist spot, we were pleasantly surprised! We were also happy to have some leftovers to enjoy for a second time later in the evening. Lastly, the ice cream for dessert hit the spot amidst the Summer heat. Thanks so much for welcoming us into your delicious restaurant on our stop through Bayeux!
Chris Allen★★★★★
We went a little early, which is good because they filled up fast and were having to turn people away. If you ndont make reservations you could miss out! We had pizzas, pasta and salad and loved it all. Then we had Creme Brulee, Pannacota, and Profiteroles.
Joanne Jarman★★★★★
My daughter had a burger and fries. If you're looking for an American burger, this is it! My daughter wanted a little break from local faire and really enjoyed her meal. I had the salmon bagel with fries and it was delicious. The creme brulee was perfection and the chocolate mousse was delish as well.

Pizza horrible, fries were not good, neither was the meat. But kind service and clean and good atmosphere. Just make the food better and you become a 4 star

We were on vacation in Bayeux, France, and it was our very first night. Around 3:00 a.m., we woke up starving. We quickly realized that Bayeux becomes a true ghost town late at night—no cars on the streets, no people, everything was closed, and the streets were unbelievably quiet. My son searched Google and found this place listed as open 24 hours. We honestly thought it had to be a mistake, but we decided to take a chance and check it out. After about a 7-minute walk, we found it. It was basically a pizza vending machine—you place your order, pay, and a freshly made pizza comes out. My first thought was, “This is probably going to be a frozen, tasteless pizza.” I was even worried we’d get sick and ruin our vacation. I couldn’t have been more wrong. The pizza was absolutely gourmet—one of the best pizzas I’ve ever had in my life! The dough tasted fresh and hand-crafted, the vegetables were fresh (not canned), and every bite was delicious. I should mention that I managed pizza restaurants in the United States when I was younger, so I know what a truly great pizza tastes like. This exceeded all my expectations. We bought two pizzas and walked back to our place completely amazed. It turned an unexpected late-night food run into one of the most memorable experiences of our trip. I can’t wait to return to Bayeux just to have their pizza again. Highly recommended!

We were here last week visiting from America. We were looking for something to eat and this area gets quiet at night and not much is open. We found thos place and we're so glad we did. The pizza is fantastic and made with love. I forgot his name (I know it starts with an S) he told us all about his process of making the dough and all the ingredients he uses (which are top quality) He really cares about his product and its quality. He was also such a kind and friendly guy. Had a great conversation with him. One of the people from our trip we'll never forget. There is also a vending machine for after hrs that uses the same pizzas he makes so its not some frozen garbage but good quality stuff. You wont be disappointed. Also, here in the USA I normally get a stomach ach from lots of our pizza. Not with this pizza. Felt great after eating it. Next time I'm in the area I'll be going back. Been craving it ever since . Keep up the amazing work my friend
Lauren★★★★★
We got into town around 10pm on a weekday and most of the restaurants had already closed. We found this pizza place advertising 24 hours and knew we had been saved. We were expecting a simple transaction based on the description. Push the buttons, pay money, get a pizza through the slot. That’s not at all what happened! The owner was standing out front, took our order, made the pizza fresh, and brought it to us. We chatted with him for a few minutes about his business, he brings in all the ingredients fresh. The pizza was delicious and saved us from starving in the middle of the night!!

Went here with my mom and dad today in the evening at around 19:00. We saw rhat it was rated really good so we wanted to give it a try. It was quite busy today so it took a short time before we could order but thats totally fine. The drinks came in a short time. My mom ordered a pasta and my dad a pizza and i also ordered a pizza. However, when the food came, it seemed like there was a mistake with taking in our order and thus we only got 2 of the meals and mine was not taken in. But they did come to us to take in my order again and after a bit of time my pizza was also on the table and we could all eat and enjoy our meal. The pizzas where tasty and pasta was nice. Good crust and real oven baked italian pizzas i think (idk i am not a food expert). After that we asked for a dessert and they gave us 3 menu cards. Because we where already quite full, we ordered 1 tiramissu and a decaf (for me) and a latte for my mom (my dad was already full so he ordered nothing) and those orders did come in perfectly! So other than the small mistake that was made (honestly it was quite busy so maybe they just forgot. And as humans we all make mistakes sometimes), we had a great experience and meal here and i would recommend it to anyone who visits bayeux or dtays there for a few days (i am on a vacation trip with my mom and dad and we stay here in Normande till saturday).

First off, wow. Just amazing pizza! The experience started on the street. An amazing view with fun shops and decorations! Once we got to the restaurant, the staff was very welcoming and friendly. Inside was clean and taken care of. We were greeted by Vincent, who was wonderful! We each got a different pizza, with one getting pasta. Honestly, this was one of the best pizzas I’ve had in my life. Did not feel heavy or tired after the meal! We all shared slices and each was better than the last! Definitely worth a visit and we will be coming back on our next trip!

We went to have a light dinner. The Bouef Marine with frites and the Tartin Normandy were thoughtfully prepared and tasty. The service was helpful and attentive. Atmosphere good for conversation. The host told us that it had recently reopened as a bistro.

My wife and I ate here twice in the three days we stayed in Bayeux. I can’t say enough about the great service and food. The cheese for the pizza is made across the street. Staying in Bayeux for 2 nights and we ate here both of them. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming and the outside dining area is stylish amd inviting - the floating umbrellas add an extra 'je ne sais quoi'! The staff are extremely friendly and helpful and the food is excellent. We had several dishes, all of which were fabulous, including seafood linguine, fettucine alfredo, linguine carbonnara. My son especially recommends the Pizza Nutella for pudding! They also have a fine selection of wines and a wonderful cider, which we also sampled, repeatedly! If we were staying in Bayeux for longer we would eat here every night. Thank you to all the team for making us feel so welcome, feeding us such amazing food, and for the limoncello! I could not recommend this restaurant highly enough. A 'must visit' when in Bayeux. See you again soon.

Staying in Bayeux for a few days and walked past Patanella a few times and the restaurant was always crowded so we decided to give it a try, fantastic Italian food. I ordered the Margherita pizza and was impressed. The crust was thin but still a bit of a bread texture, the sauce was light and fresh and the cheese had an amazing flavor. Very good pizza. My partner ordered the Gnocchi alla Sorrentina with a wheat and potato pasta with a tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese, basil and parmesan cheese which he enjoyed. Fantastic food, great service and quite reasonable.

The atmosphere and vibe of this restaurant is nice, especially out in the court yard area. The pizzas and calzone were very good, although I wasn’t overly impressed with the bolognaise or lasagne. It wasn’t bad by any means, it just wasn't the best. Reasonably priced and friendly staff, would definitely recommend a visit!

We walked around looking for a simple lunch and stumbled on this pizza place. I have to say, we are very glad we did. We were greeted with the friendliest smile & the employee was very helpful in explaining the menu to us in English. Pizza was super tasty. Crust was thin but not overly. Perfect amount of sauce. We also ordered the jalapeño with cheese nuggets as well as the spicy chili cheese nuggets. Highly recommend this place

My family was in Bayeux for 2 days and we ate at this place both days. The value can’t be beat! The staff is both extremely friendly and helpful. Most spoke English, especially the gentleman who looked like he ran the place. The pizzas are delicious - we had the kebab pizza both times and it was fantastic. If you need a great place to fuel up and are looking for a friendly, relaxed place then this is it. Thank you for taking care of us! The worst part about this place is that they don’t have any locations in Paris!

Fantastic, we loved it. Staff were super kind and helpful to us as tourists. We got a medium Arizona for €13.90, and it was perfect for 2 people. If we had more time in town we would definitely go back.

Not good. Ordered 3 pizzas and a starter. The pizza was okay, but the starter was awful. It was totally preparation. The onion rings were not cooked, and the chili cheese nuggets had a hair in them But the worst was the delivery. I gave the address (which the Uber driver had no problem finding) and added a note that said I would meet them on the street since the apartment is hard to find. I watched out the window and then went out on the street 25 minutes after I placed the order. One young man stopped in front, but he said he did not have our order. Someone did try and call, but they spoke no English, and I speak almost no French, so they hung up. Someone called again about a half hour later, and I stopped a very nice couple on the street, and they talked to the young man on the phone and figured out what was happening. The first guy couldn't find the address and took our pizza back to the store, and the second young man was persistent in finding us, so kudos to him. So not only was the food not cooked, it was cold. Edit: Of course I gave a foreign phone number, I am foreign. But the address I gave is on the main street through Bayeux, and your delivery drivers couldn't find it. And I noticed you didn't make mention of the poor quality of the appetizers.

Went in with family, all of us staying at the nearby Novotel. Ordered a Pescatore and Margherita. Both came out in about 20 minutes and were delicious. The Pescatore in particular was great and we all thoroughly enjoyed. For those who require it the restaurant also states in its menu that certain meats can be substituted for a halal replacement.

We came here on a Sunday when many of the restaurants in this town were closed. We had a reservation and saw many folks get turned away. Our service was attentive. La Normande is a wonderful little French restaurant - charming, cozy, and full of character. The service was absolutely excellent. Two lovely waitresses took care of us throughout the evening, helping with recommendations, explaining the menu in detail, and making sure everything flowed perfectly. Plates and cutlery were changed promptly, and the food arrived quickly without ever feeling rushed. Truly attentive and professional service. The food deserves special praise. The oysters were incredibly fresh - they genuinely tasted of the sea, which is exactly how oysters should be. The wine list is very well curated, with great choices to pair with the food. And the desserts were simply outstanding - refined, well-balanced, and a perfect finish to the meal. Bravo to the whole team. Five stars without hesitation!

Tips for Enjoying Pizza in Bayeux

To truly make the most of your dining experience in this historic Norman town, a little local knowledge goes a long way. Dining culture in France can differ slightly from other parts of the world, and understanding the rhythm of the restaurants will ensure you have a seamless and enjoyable meal. Here are some practical tips to keep in mind when hunting for your perfect pie.

First, always check the opening hours carefully. Unlike in major metropolitan cities, many restaurants in Bayeux close between lunch and dinner service, typically from 2:30 PM to 7:00 PM. If you are hungry in the mid-afternoon, look for a spot that offers "service continu" (continuous service). Second, do not hesitate to make a reservation for dinner, especially during the peak summer months and around the D-Day anniversary in June; tables fill up incredibly fast.

Third, embrace the local beverage pairings. While Italian wine is always a classic choice, ordering a local Norman cider (cidre) with your pizza is a fantastic way to experience the region. The crisp, slightly sweet bubbles of the cider cut through the richness of the cheese perfectly. Fourth, be mindful of the pace of service; dining in France is meant to be savored. The staff will not rush you, so sit back, relax, and enjoy the atmosphere rather than expecting a quick turn-and-burn meal.

Finally, consider taking your pizza to go for a picnic. Bayeux is surrounded by beautiful green spaces and the river Aure runs through the town. Grabbing a pizza to go and sitting by the water or on a park bench near the cathedral can be a magical, budget-friendly way to enjoy the town’s scenery while eating high-quality food.

As you plan your culinary journey through Bayeux, remember that this town offers much more than just history. It is a living, breathing community with a palate for quality. The pizzerias here work hard to blend the comfort of Italian cuisine with the distinct flavors of Normandy, resulting in meals that are both satisfying and memorable.

Whether you settle for a classic Margherita or branch out with a local specialty pie topped with Norman sausage, you are in for a treat. After you have had your fill, you can stroll back to your hotel under the illuminated spires of the Bayeux Cathedral, full and ready for another day of exploration.
