Bayeux is world-famous for its medieval tapestry and rich Norman history, but between exploring the cathedral and walking the cobblestone streets, hunger is bound to strike. While the town is celebrated for fine dining and traditional brasseries, sometimes you simply need a quick, satisfying meal without the wait. Whether you are fueling up before a D-Day beach tour or grabbing a bite after visiting the museums, fast food in Bayeux offers a surprising variety.
The local fast-casual scene blends French culinary standards with the speed and convenience that travelers often require. You do not have to settle for a stale sandwich from a vending machine or an overpriced tourist trap near the cathedral. Instead, you can find everything from artisan burgers and wood-fired pizzas to classic French crêpes and Middle Eastern wraps. The key is knowing where the locals go when they want something delicious in a hurry.
Many visitors are surprised to learn that "fast food" in Bayeux does not mean compromising on quality. The French approach to quick dining still prioritizes fresh bread, quality meats, and real cheese. You will find independent kebab shops that bake their own bread daily, burger joints using locally sourced beef, and bakeries serving hot savory pastries straight from the oven. This ensures that even your quickest meal can be a memorable part of your trip.
Navigating the food scene in a historic town like Bayeux can be tricky if you are short on time. You might be tempted to grab the first pre-packaged sandwich you see, but a little local knowledge goes a long way. We have done the legwork to identify the spots that offer the best balance of speed, flavor, and value. These are the places that keep both busy locals and savvy tourists coming back.
Our list focuses on establishments that excel at getting you in and out quickly without sacrificing the taste that makes French cuisine famous. From the perfect baguette sandwich to a hearty kebab after a long day of sightseeing, there is something for every craving. We have considered portion sizes, ingredient freshness, and consistency to bring you the most reliable options.
Whether you are traveling with picky kids, need a quick lunch between museum visits, or simply want a late-night snack, this guide has you covered. Get ready to discover the best quick bites this historic Norman town has to offer.

Ordered an Iced Coffee - small. It came in a normal coffee cup with three bits of ice
Added the pictures - what’s advertised - what we got.

If you are in Normandy area on a Tuesday this is pretty much the only place to eat during the fall and winter months. Food is what it is. I was greatful they were open after 18:00hr.

Food is McDonald’s, well done and warm, quite waitress served the food, what else can you expect?

Despite the seeming absence of my beloved Big Mac - an international staple that seems to be absent in McDonald's establishments in France - I must say this McDonald's exceeded my expectations. Prompt table service, young, agile workforce, spotless lavatories, industry-competitive food, all complimented by a commendable and picturesque location near the historic city of Bayeaux. In the vicinity, amenities abound: including EV charging. The negative reviews this establishment has received prior represents a problem with digital age society - contrarians exist for the sake of being contrary. Satisfied with my meal, this was beyond a fitting end to a day dedicated to the historical imprint the USA 🇺🇸🦅 has left on this great republic. We also got 2 free coca cola cups!

The hamburger was sooo delicious 😋. We walked around town after we had dinner then stopped back by for a scoop of ice cream 🍦.
The next night we stopped at a different place and then hit this place on our way back to our hotel for some ice cream.
Definitely a place to go to.

Gluten-free in Bayeux! We ate here three times. The sandwiches, quiche and desserts are excellent—all homemade in a dedicated gluten-free kitchen. Even though not everyone in our party needs to eat gluten free, we enjoyed the food. It is fresh and delicious. The owner is welcoming and informative. She has a nice clean space with tables to enjoy the food.

This is one of the freshest and tastiest lunches I’ve had during my 10 week stay in France. We sat outside and had the curried chicken quiche and a superb pork and salad burger with soft and delicious bun which is a rarity for gluten free bread. You don’t need to be gluten sensitive to enjoy this gem of a place, but a diamond for those who are.

We happened upon this place while looking for a place to eat at 5:30 pm when most places were either closing or not yet open for dinner service. The lady serving us spoke English, was patient taking specific orders of the children and she very quickly cooked the orders up and served. A huge fresh baguette sandwich with fries on the side ( and inside the sandwich) . Soft drinks were about 2.50 - 3.00 Euro. Great value!

Excellent burger that was juicy/full of flavour. Chips were fresh, hot and crispy. Woman working place was friendly. Big plus of still serving food while other places are closed for lunch

I was walking through Bayeux, right at 7 pm when the cafes and restaurants open for dinner, when I saw this place. The lady was very nice and patient with my poor French. She spoke English just fine but I think she let me practice, but I easily could have ordered everything in English.
As for the food, I ordered a ham and cheese crepe. The cheese was Swiss, I think, and the ham was quality. She brought it out right off the grill. It was so fresh and hot. After I finished, she brought out the Nutella crepe that I had ordered. Small detail, but having the second crepe come out fresh and after I finished the second was such a fabulous style. That wouldn't happen in the states.
It was also awesome to sit on the patio outside and watch people. The canopy also came in handy for the rain. I recommend this place. The menu and flavors are simple, but that simplicity can be great for visitors, especially kids, and the price was cheap.

We were on vacation in Bayeux, France, and it was our very first night. Around 3:00 a.m., we woke up starving. We quickly realized that Bayeux becomes a true ghost town late at night—no cars on the streets, no people, everything was closed, and the streets were unbelievably quiet.
My son searched Google and found this place listed as open 24 hours. We honestly thought it had to be a mistake, but we decided to take a chance and check it out. After about a 7-minute walk, we found it. It was basically a pizza vending machine—you place your order, pay, and a freshly made pizza comes out.
My first thought was, “This is probably going to be a frozen, tasteless pizza.” I was even worried we’d get sick and ruin our vacation. I couldn’t have been more wrong.
The pizza was absolutely gourmet—one of the best pizzas I’ve ever had in my life! The dough tasted fresh and hand-crafted, the vegetables were fresh (not canned), and every bite was delicious.
I should mention that I managed pizza restaurants in the United States when I was younger, so I know what a truly great pizza tastes like. This exceeded all my expectations.
We bought two pizzas and walked back to our place completely amazed. It turned an unexpected late-night food run into one of the most memorable experiences of our trip.
I can’t wait to return to Bayeux just to have their pizza again. Highly recommended!

We were here last week visiting from America. We were looking for something to eat and this area gets quiet at night and not much is open. We found thos place and we're so glad we did. The pizza is fantastic and made with love. I forgot his name (I know it starts with an S) he told us all about his process of making the dough and all the ingredients he uses (which are top quality) He really cares about his product and its quality. He was also such a kind and friendly guy. Had a great conversation with him. One of the people from our trip we'll never forget. There is also a vending machine for after hrs that uses the same pizzas he makes so its not some frozen garbage but good quality stuff. You wont be disappointed. Also, here in the USA I normally get a stomach ach from lots of our pizza. Not with this pizza. Felt great after eating it. Next time I'm in the area I'll be going back. Been craving it ever since . Keep up the amazing work my friend

We got into town around 10pm on a weekday and most of the restaurants had already closed. We found this pizza place advertising 24 hours and knew we had been saved. We were expecting a simple transaction based on the description. Push the buttons, pay money, get a pizza through the slot. That’s not at all what happened! The owner was standing out front, took our order, made the pizza fresh, and brought it to us. We chatted with him for a few minutes about his business, he brings in all the ingredients fresh. The pizza was delicious and saved us from starving in the middle of the night!!

Got croissants and pain au chocolate, both were about 1/3 more expensive than other bakers, of low quality and flat for some reason, as if they had been squashed. There are plenty of other bakers nearby, try one of those.

For a roadside hypermarché burger the 'burger normand' was surprisingly delicious, juicy meat, lots of caramelized onions, andouillette added depth without being overpowering. Very nice staff as well.

We stopped here to do some shopping after a days at the beachs and museums. There are quick foods like pastries and sandwiches etc but we had burgers. Unfortunately they had run out of Gluten free buns so one person went without. But we ordered two (Royales maybe?) with the black bun anyway. We did order a normal one too but somehow it became a vegetarian burger possibly because of a mixup with the previous talk on GF.
Anyway, all were good as were the chips and the price was fair enough. Service was possibly a little slow but we are talking maybe 10 minutes not 30 minutes. It was certainly a decent meal and the staff were friendly. Our table was clean(ish) so overall a decent enough place...certainly for a fast food joint.
Whilst I wouldn't make a detour to eat there, it was convenient, tasty and overall quite reasonable.

As a regular customer of this place, I've found the service to be disastrous lately: high staff turnover, untrained staff, and unfriendly staff. The other day, my panini arrived after 35 minutes completely burnt. Yesterday, the cashier was overwhelmed by a growing line at snack time, while her colleague was leaning against the refrigerators, phone in hand, in full view of everyone.
Judging by the comments, I think management couldn't care less about their customers' opinions, which doesn't surprise me at all.

We went for a simple breakfast after a morning walk through Bayeux. They open early, and the proprietor is cheerful and helpful. The coffee was strong and flavorful, the hot chocolot was rich, delicious, and not too sweet. They also served the best croissants we ate in France. If you're in Bayeux put Le Phil Rouge on the top of your list.

After a day of sightseeing we came back to Bayeux knowing many restaurants would be closed. We happened across The Phil Rouge and stopped for a bite at about 20.00 when they close at 22.00 The young waiter was pleasant and we were informed there were no poke bowls whilst being seated. We ordered two Chicken Burgers with fries only then to be told they had run out of fries (cooked fres they say) so we're offered salads. Burgers were precooked and pre made just heated and salad was little more than leaves and shredded carrot. This is basic food which may or may not be available. We were informed the chips are cooked in the morning and if they run out it's tough, they will not make more. Unless you are desperate I wouldn't bother, others after us walked in and straight out. We were even charged for the Salad we didn't even order or want.

The Normand burger was great. But the andoulli sausage in my opinion did not smell or taste good. It reminded me of the way a goat or horse smells. One of the top bakeries in Bayeux! Good pastries, good prices and it's open early on weekdays, which is a major plus for early risers. The shopkeeper/baker/proprietor seems very busy, order fast and be ready to pay with cash to make things easier for him!

This place is exactly what I had hoped for! I was so in the mood for fresh orange juice, something delicious and light. Found it! Absolutely incredible! I have been looking for something like this place for a while. I had essentially an avocado toast. My wife had some kind of potatoe pancake, with eggs, pastrami, and all this other stuff. Freaking cool! It's called a Swiss Twist - Rosti. So delicious!
Back to my avocado toast. They have it GF here which is almost impossible in Normandy. It was great.
Fresh OJ was great, Americano was great, everything was great!
Maelle (our server) is probably one of the best at service in all of Normandy! Very knowledgeable, engaging, charming, smart, and professional. Somehow Selma Alabama managed to hire the best and most capable service professional in Normandy!

Selma Alabama Brunch Cafe is an awesome spot for breakfast. If you’re looking for a place that opens early and actually serves food that’s both tasty and filling, this is it.
I tried the croissant with scrambled eggs and salmon, and it was genuinely excellent - fresh, buttery, and perfectly balanced. The eggs were soft and flavorful, the salmon tasted fresh, and the portion was satisfying without feeling heavy. It’s the kind of breakfast that immediately puts you in a good mood and sets you up for the day.
The coffee was also really good - exactly what you want in the morning. But what truly makes this place stand out is the service: fast, friendly, and attentive. Everything felt smooth and welcoming from the moment we walked in.
Highly recommended for anyone who wants a great brunch/breakfast in a relaxed atmosphere. I’ll definitely be back.

Tips for Choosing Fast Food in Bayeux
To make the most of your dining experience in Bayeux, it helps to understand the local rhythm and customs. While these fast food spots are designed for speed, a few insider tips can help you avoid long lines, save money, and eat like a local. Keep these practical suggestions in mind when you are ready to grab a bite.
Check the local meal times. French kitchens, even fast food ones, often close between 2:30 PM and 6:30 PM. If you want a late lunch or an early dinner, verify the opening hours in advance to avoid standing in front of a locked door.
Look for the "Formule" or "Menu" deals. Many fast food spots in Bayeux offer set menus that include a main item, fries, and a drink for a discounted price. This is almost always cheaper than ordering items individually and gives you a true taste of how locals eat.
Prioritize spots with house-made bread. The difference between a good kebab or burger and a great one often comes down to the bread. Look for places that bake their own baguettes, buns, or flatbreads on site; it elevates the entire meal significantly.
Do not skip the French tacos. While the name might confuse American visitors, the French taco is a grilled wrap filled with meat, cheese sauce, and fries. It is a beloved fast food staple in Normandy and a must-try if you want a truly local experience.
Walk a block away from the main tourist streets. Prices and quality near the Tapestry Museum and Cathedral can be inflated. Venturing just a few minutes toward the outskirts of the center often reveals better food at lower prices, frequented by the residents of Bayeux.
Bayeux proves that you do not need a white tablecloth to enjoy excellent food in France. The town’s fast food landscape is rich with flavor, offering a perfect solution for travelers who want to maximize their time exploring history. By choosing one of the spots from our list, you can turn a quick meal into a highlight of your day.
As you plan your itinerary, remember that good food is an essential part of the Norman experience. Whether you are biting into a crispy baguette filled with local cheese or enjoying a perfectly seasoned kebab, these quick stops provide the fuel you need to keep walking, exploring, and discovering the magic of Bayeux.
