12 Best Pharmacies in Toulouse

Finding a reliable pharmacy in Toulouse is about more than just filling a prescription. Whether you are a resident managing a chronic condition, a parent needing pediatric advice in the middle of the night, or a traveler who has lost essential medication, the quality of your local pharmacie directly impacts your well-being.

France is renowned for having one of the most efficient healthcare systems in the world, and the network of local pharmacies is a cornerstone of that reputation. In Toulouse, La Ville Rose, the density of pharmacies is high, but the level of service, specialization, and accessibility can vary significantly from one location to the next.

Unlike in some countries where pharmacies are merely retail outlets, French pharmacies are centers of medical consultation. Pharmacists here are highly trained doctors of pharmacy who can diagnose minor ailments, provide vaccinations, and offer expert advice on drug interactions without requiring an appointment with a physician.

This guide aims to help you navigate the landscape of pharmaceutical care in the city. We have evaluated locations based on their opening hours, the expertise of their staff, their stock of specialized medications, and their commitment to patient education to bring you a curated list of the best options available.

Whether you are located in the historic center, the bustling neighborhoods of Saint-Cyprien, or the university district, you need a pharmacy you can trust. Here are the top establishments that stand out for their dedication to health and customer service in Toulouse.

Great pharmacy with quite a selection. The pharmacist went out of his way to try and help me find the prescription I was asking for even though they didn’t have it at their location. He made a call to another local pharmacy and had them hold a box for my pick up. Definitely great customer service. Highly recommend. Thank you!!

Best pharmacy in Toulouse. The amount of products is enormous, its really big and varied. Their ophthalmology section has everything. The only problem is that now it feels really small because of the amount of people

This pharmacy customer service is simply outstanding. From the entrance counter to the prescription counter, the staff is always caring , friendly, and very professional . I used to go to a pharmacy in the city centre but I was so happy with the service at this pharmacy that I don't mind walking there just be served by them ! I once bought a simple nail polish for a fungus . The lady at the entrance counter took the time to explain how to apply despite the instructions being inside the box . At the pharmacy, everyone is very caring, too . I really feel very welcome at this pharmacy, and I truly recommend it ! Thank you all for your amazing service ! You are all amazing ! ❤️

My fiancé came to this pharmacy today with a prescription, and we learned it's not covered by insurance. So, my darling wants to give the contact information to the guardianship office, since they handle everything in that regard, but they refuse to take it because I have to pay now. I can't because I'm not the one who manages it... that's called discrimination! Furthermore, one of the pharmacists feels entitled to judge our lifestyle. When she says it's ONLY €2 and asks my fiancé to pay (even though it's not his responsibility in the first place, lol!!), and he replies that he doesn't have the money for it (because we have to pay the rent, groceries, and other things for our baby), she essentially says, "You don't have money anymore even though you have a baby." Very professional indeed!!! I don't recommend going there! If it were just the contact issue, I would have gone elsewhere, but to judge my fiancé because he doesn't pay, because ultimately, he doesn't have the money for THAT! This is awful! And I also learned while talking to my partner that there was another court ruling! When she saw on the prescription that it came from the hospital (I'm there because I'm in Cairo for maternity leave), she said, "You went to the hospital just for that?" And when he said, in short, that it was for our baby, she said, "So, how are you going to manage financially when you leave the hospital?" (Because, as a reminder, my partner couldn't pay for me). He replied, "We have everything we need, and I'll be getting my money soon." That's what he told me! That's just great... I'm glad I didn't go. I just gave birth, so I don't need that! Please don't judge; we don't know everyone's exact situation. I won't be going back there, and neither will my partner. Best of luck!

I was on holiday in Toulouse and had missed packing my compression stockings. They refused to sell them to me when my ankles were swollen. Long story short, continued with my pain until I visited parapharmacy Lafayette on boulevard Strasbourg where I bought them with no problem. Would be zero star if that was an option.

I strongly advise against going to this pharmacy. Yesterday, they refused to give me two boxes of a sleeping pill, claiming that a nearby pharmacy, which dispenses them to me every month, was at fault. However, pharmacies are heavily regulated by the national health insurance system, so if I get my two boxes elsewhere, it clearly shows that it's possible. Furthermore, the young woman who served me was extremely unfriendly. Not a smile, quite the opposite. Very curt and unpleasant. I've rarely experienced anything like it. Obviously, I will never set foot in that place again. In fact, I immediately went to a pharmacy not far away, clearly showing them my prescription for a month's supply, and of course, I got my second box. Of course! Logically, each box only contains 20 pills. So, one box for a month doesn't add up. I've concluded that your young employee, who is incapable of smiling, is completely unsuited to working in retail.
Maxence Cathala★★★★★
It was exceptional; the pharmacists were attentive and the welcome very warm. When I walked in, I felt the calming atmosphere of the pharmacy. They listened to me, provided information, and offered advice and warnings. Furthermore, medical confidentiality was respected. However, I've read the reviews, and those who didn't get their medication for perfectly valid reasons have criticized this otherwise wonderful pharmacy. Keep up the good work!

Good interaction. The sales assistant didn't hesitate to describe the products in detail and really guide you based on your needs. You have to go to the far end of the checkout area (and wait in line) and ask to get a sales assistant (otherwise they just stand there and look at you), but once you're done, it was great. I'm taking off one star, though, because I waited over 10 minutes in the shop without anyone seeming to care. A good selection of products, and easy to get to!

I've always received excellent service at this pharmacy, especially from Thomas, whom I've dealt with several times. He's always smiling and very empathetic. I've been a customer for a long time, and the service is usually courteous. But today, something strange happened with the pharmacist... A slightly older man with glasses, whom I hadn't seen before, greeted me. I gave him my prescription slip (for the medication I had ordered). He went behind the counter with my prescription slip and then came back with one box of medication, even though my prescription slip clearly stated two boxes. The man then tried to make me believe that I had given him a prescription slip for only one box, showing me an order placed in error several months ago. I had to ask him to show me the prescription slip I had just given him (which he was vaguely trying to hide by showing me an old one). He then tried to make me believe that I had already received it. I proved to him that no, I hadn't picked it up and that he was the one doing things his own way. He then made a comment about my "rigor" regarding orders (knowing that the mistake wasn't mine). What a strange way to act... Furthermore, I ended up leaving with three boxes of medication instead of two. (Medication whose distribution is supposed to be monitored.) He seemed amused by that... What exemplary rigor, sir. Edit: No, I didn't want to start a debate about it in the store. I think I made the right decision, given your lack of self-reflection. Moreover, the previous order I received was from March. So the one-month delay you mentioned had long since passed. I prefer to leave a review. I didn't think it was worthwhile to engage with someone who treats me like an idiot and makes remarks to me on top of that.

I've been going to this pharmacy with my mother for years. Usually, the pharmacists are lovely and very attentive, but this time… It was the first time I saw this pharmacist. I came in with a prescription; normally, my health insurance is already registered, but I gave it to her anyway. She spent 10 minutes looking at it. Then she told me one medication wasn't covered. I told her it wasn't a big deal. She didn't have the second and third medications, so I told her that was fine too, I'd go somewhere else. But she insisted on giving me something else and asked about my symptoms. Excuse me, but at some point, if I go to the doctor, it's for a reason, so I told her I wanted what was written on the prescription. This woman kept insisting on asking about my symptoms, but at that point, I wasn't going to pay for a doctor's appointment! Anyway, it would be nice if we just dispensed what's written on our doctors' prescriptions instead of playing doctor. In the end, I paid for everything out of pocket, and I'm still missing one of the medications, so I'll have to go to another pharmacy. What a waste of time!
Ryma Bkl★☆☆☆☆
I've been going to this pharmacy for over a year, for absolutely everything: my medications, my daughter's medications, vaccines, creams, ointments, cosmetics, milk, diapers… really everything. Since my daughter was one month old, I've gotten all her prescriptions and vaccines from them. I've always trusted them. Today, I went to pick up a vaccine for my daughter. The prescription didn't include the anesthetic patch I use every time, and they refused to sell it to me, claiming it was only available with a prescription. Yet, at another pharmacy, they sold it to me immediately, simply because I showed them the vaccine my daughter needed… So I went back to tell them I'd been able to buy it elsewhere and that I was very disappointed. No apology, no empathy, no consideration despite my loyalty. They responded coldly, as if I didn't exist. And to top it all off, they even told me: "Oh, but the patch is just psychological for the baby. I have two children, I know." First of all, my daughter is 17 months old, and more importantly: whether this person has children or not makes absolutely no difference. She's my daughter, and I'm the one who decides what's best for her comfort and health, not someone who belittles my choices based on their own experience. After all this time and all the trust I had in them, I find their attitude truly shocking and disrespectful. It's simple: I'm never going back there again.

The welcome was unpleasant, bordering on disdain. The two pharmacists present barely managed a greeting, and the service was minimal. However, taking credit cards was no problem at all. If I treated my customers like this, I'd be ashamed of what I've become. In short, a pharmacy of last resort.

I came to pick up my thyroid medication and was treated very rudely by one of your pharmacy technicians, a short-haired blonde woman in her forties. She accused me of having lost my paper prescription, which was a refillable prescription, and said that was therefore unacceptable. (I should point out that I had sent you the prescription via Doctolib by email, so you had it.) I told her, "Yes, I know, sorry, I lost it." She repeated my words sarcastically, "Yes, I know," while openly mocking me in front of her colleagues. I wasn't there to pick up a tube of toothpaste, but medication for an autoimmune disease. She looked me straight in the eye and said, "I think you misunderstood." Madam, I understood perfectly well; I'm not an idiot. You have procedures to follow, I understand, but there's a proper way to speak to customers. I've always been well received in the eight years I've been coming here, but this time it was too much. Learn some respect and self-control; perhaps a training course would be helpful for you. Talk to a pharmacist; it will be useful to you in the future. And saying in front of all your customers, "Oh, okay, we're going on break, they'll have to wait!" It may have been a busy time for you, but please be polite and show a little empathy, even if I had lost my refillable paper prescription.
Astrid Yaldabaoth★★☆☆☆
This is my local pharmacy; I go there regularly. The pharmacists are pleasant and can advise you according to your budget. However, it's high time you muzzled your security guard. Every time I come in, he follows me and gives me aggressive looks, even though he sees me leave with my purchases every time. It makes me want to change pharmacies; I don't appreciate being treated like a potential thief! And on what grounds, anyway—based on appearance? Shameful!
Simon Karlsson★☆☆☆☆
This is the second time I've encountered these students at this pharmacy who refuse to renew my prescriptions! It clearly states "2 medications every 3 months!" I immediately went to another pharmacy and got all my medications without any problem! These are medications I can't stop; they're vital for me! These incompetent people need to be kicked out of this pharmacy! They're going to drive other people crazy! I strongly advise against going to this pharmacy! Avoid it at all costs!
Marco Lepere★★☆☆☆
Pharmacy to avoid ⚠️ I'm only giving two stars because the manager was very kind. I went to pick up a cream prescribed for scars after surgery. The pharmacist told me it was no longer covered by insurance and made me pay. But then, there was a computer glitch, the manager intervened and confirmed the cream was indeed covered… an attempt to charge me €9 for nothing. I didn't really understand the pharmacist's motive. No smile, no explanation on how to use it: you clearly feel like you're bothering them. A very bad experience with this pharmacist. Fortunately, the manager was professional, friendly, and able to resolve the situation. She was there for me, but she might not be for you 😅

Tips for Choosing the Right Pharmacy in Toulouse

While having a list of recommended establishments is a great starting point, your specific needs might require a more personalized approach. Building a relationship with a single pharmacist who knows your medical history can be as important as choosing a general practitioner. Before you settle on your "go-to" pharmacy, consider the following practical tips to ensure you receive the best possible care in every situation.

Understand the "Garde" (On-Call) System
French law strictly regulates pharmacy opening hours. If you need medication late at night, on a Sunday, or during a public holiday, you cannot simply walk into any store. You must find the pharmacie de garde. You can usually find the current on-call pharmacy listed on the door of any closed pharmacy, or by checking the local police station or the official website of the Ordre des Pharmaciens.

Look for the "SOS" or Extended Hours Sign
Some pharmacies in central Toulouse and near major hospitals offer extended evening hours. If you frequently work late or have young children who tend to get sick at inconvenient times, identify the pharmacies with "SOS" services or those open past 8:00 PM to avoid the stress of searching during an emergency.

Inquire About Specialized Compounding (Préparations Magistrales)
Not all pharmacies have a laboratory for compounding custom medications. If you require a specific dosage that is not commercially manufactured, or if you need a medication without a specific allergen (like gluten or lactose), ask the pharmacist if they perform préparations magistrales. This is a sign of a highly skilled and well-equipped establishment.

Check for Language Proficiency
Toulouse is a major hub for international students and expatriates. If you are not fluent in French, navigating medical terminology can be daunting. Many pharmacies in the city center and near the university have bilingual staff who can explain dosages and side effects in English or Spanish, ensuring you fully understand your treatment plan.

Leverage the Digital Infrastructure
Most modern pharmacies in Toulouse now offer online services. Check if your local pharmacy has an app or website where you can pre-order refills. This saves time and ensures that rare or expensive medications are in stock before you make the trip across town.

Ask About Vaccination Services
While flu shots are common, many pharmacies are now authorized to administer a wider range of vaccines. If you are preparing for travel or need a booster, a pharmacy with a certified vaccinator on staff can be far more convenient than booking an appointment with a nurse or doctor.

Choosing the right pharmacy is a proactive step toward managing your health effectively. By looking beyond just the proximity to your home and evaluating the services, expertise, and accessibility of the establishment, you ensure that you and your family are covered for both the expected and the unexpected.

Toulouse is a city that values quality of life, and its healthcare infrastructure reflects that. With the right pharmacy partner, you can navigate the French healthcare system with confidence, knowing that expert advice is never more than a short walk or drive away.
