Finding a reliable pharmacy in Dijon is about more than just filling a prescription. Whether you are a resident managing a chronic condition, a parent needing pediatric advice late in the evening, or a traveler who has run out of essential medication, access to knowledgeable pharmacists is vital for your peace of mind.
The French pharmacy system is highly regulated, ensuring that you receive professional care and authentic medications. However, not all pharmacies offer the same level of service regarding opening hours, specialized compounding, or homeopathic and natural product ranges. Knowing where to go before an urgent need arises can save you significant time and stress.
Dijon, as the capital of the Burgundy region, boasts a dense network of pharmacies that combine traditional French pharmaceutical rigor with modern retail convenience. From historic storefronts in the city center to modern parapharmacies on the outskirts, the options are extensive. Many establishments now offer online booking for vaccinations and private consultation booths for discreet advice.
When evaluating the best options, we considered several factors. These include the professionalism of the staff, the availability of on-duty hours (pharmacies de garde) during nights and Sundays, the stock of specialized dermatology or veterinary products, and the overall accessibility of the location. We also looked at customer feedback regarding wait times and the clarity of medical explanations provided.
Below is a curated list of the most trusted and highly recommended pharmacies in the Dijon metropolitan area. These selections are designed to help you find the right expertise for your specific health needs, whether you require a simple pain reliever or complex medication management.

Hello 😊
Today I visited this pharmacy's health and beauty section.
First of all, I found a huge selection of products (plus a very good quality/price ratio).
But above all, I found the staff there to be friendly, helpful, and very attentive to customer needs.
I benefited from Hombeline's excellent advice.
She dedicated her time to me, gave me lots of advice for my skin, and found everything I needed.
I'm truly delighted to have discovered this place where they REALLY take care of the customer!
So thank you, Hombeline, and thank you to the entire team at this health and beauty section 😊
See you soon!

Anaïs and Emma are extremely professional.
Anaïs is so bubbly and kind, always full of helpful advice and product ideas to share with us. And she takes the time for each customer. Without her, I certainly wouldn't have discovered and bought so many products.
Emma, for her part, is always very pleasant, gentle, and attentive. It's a real pleasure to deal with them.
Between the quality of the products and their personalized service, the experience at this pharmacy is truly exceptional, and that's why I love coming to Bruant.

I really appreciate this pharmacy where you can easily find most over-the-counter products. The same goes for medications; it's quite rare to have to order them.
The only slight drawback is that the priority line is all the way to the left, so we're not very visible, and often two or three people from the regular line have cut in before we're noticed.

An excellent pharmacy that I've been a loyal customer of for decades: the welcome is warm, the staff are very friendly, highly competent, and offer excellent advice.
The evening of December 4th was very enjoyable and a great success. Our hostesses' dress code was remarkable.

On Friday, March 13, 2026, just before 3 p.m., I went to the pharmacy with two prescriptions. One of my medications wasn't covered by insurance. I asked for a receipt. The pharmacy assistant, who was right across from the queue, indiscreetly revealed the name of the medication for the receipt. I felt very uncomfortable. I bit my lip to keep from correcting her and pointing out her complete lack of professionalism (professional confidentiality). I let her employer go without charging her. Despite this, I will continue to shop there because, overall, the staff is very polite and helpful.

PS: Thank you to all the exhibitors, advisors, organizers, staff, and manager for your VIP organization of the over-the-counter products, which was very successful with invaluable advice from the specialists present for me, including Caudalie. I am delighted with the cashmere cream products 👍

Very disappointing. I'm not usually one to leave Google reviews, but in this case, the welcome from Perrine, the pharmacy technician, was truly inappropriate: she greeted me with a yawn and gestured for me to move forward with a simple nod.
Hearing her then tell her colleagues that she couldn't wait for the afternoon to end, even though there were still customers, was equally inappropriate.
I'm a shopkeeper myself and I understand fatigue; a minimum of politeness and professionalism is needed. I think a little reprimand is in order.
Leslie Lemaire★★☆☆☆
I come to this pharmacy regularly.
In the over-the-counter section, there's a really good selection with several major brands, and the shelves are well-organized and stocked.
In the pharmacy section, most medications are available, and if needed, orders are placed quickly.
The only slight downside is the priority checkout for disabled people, which is located on the far right.
I went there today, my card hanging around my neck as usual. There was already someone at that counter, so no problem. I waited behind it, thinking that one of the pharmacists would see me and, once finished with their customer, let me through as a priority customer with my card clearly visible. People got behind me, and one of the pharmacists saw them and asked if they were with me. I told them no, and she told them the queue was further down. So far, so good. The customer at the counter in front of me turned around and said, "The queue is over there, ma'am." I showed her my card and explained that I have a disability. She sighed and rolled her eyes. The pharmacist who was helping her didn't react at all.
Then I saw that the pharmacist, who had already seen me, was letting people in the regular queue go ahead of me. I waited a good 10 minutes standing up, even though I have significant mobility issues.
Luckily, a pharmacist who had finished with another customer saw me and let me go ahead. I even mentioned it to her because I felt terrible between the wait and the attitude of the customer in front of me.
Please be mindful of people who put themselves in the priority queue. Of course, you serve the people already at the counter, but when you're finished, check if there's anyone in that queue. It's already difficult enough being in a situation of invisible disability.
Thank you.
Soraya Hammad★☆☆☆☆
A rather astonishing experience among colleagues.
As a community pharmacist and owner of a pharmacy in the Paris region, I presented my professional card to exceptionally request a box of Solupred and desloratadine.
I was refused dispensing on the grounds that a pharmacist does not have general prescribing authority. Fine, I can perfectly well understand and respect a regulatory refusal.
However, what I find most striking is the manner in which it was handled: no attempt to find a solution, no willingness to help a colleague, no sense of professional solidarity.
When you practice this profession yourself on a daily basis, you know the difference between respecting regulations and simply telling someone to fend for themselves.
I wasn't expecting special treatment, just a minimum of consideration and mutual support among healthcare professionals. Clearly, we don't all share the same understanding of professional solidarity.
nathalie granger★☆☆☆☆
Served by a new pharmacist who thought she had a medical degree.
It's crazy to study pharmacy and think you're a doctor; I've never been treated so badly.
Luckily, the other pharmacists don't behave like that.
Too bad, I wasted my time. As a result, I didn't have my medication yesterday, but I got it today at another pharmacy. It's pointless to be so tall and not even be able to fill a prescription.

I've been a customer of this pharmacy for six years now; they are truly wonderful people, attentive and very professional.
A huge thank you to the entire team there.
A massive thank you to Amelie, a lovely, kind, and smiling woman. Olivier is a delightful person, as is Amandine.
If you're looking for a top-notch pharmacy like I am, I highly recommend this one; you'll never be disappointed.
Thank you to the whole team at this great pharmacy in Dijon; I wouldn't change it for the world. Personally, I also take probiotics. The expiration dates are never short. You can read negative reviews, but in my opinion, that's false and discriminatory. People are mean these days, always complaining about waiting. I sometimes have to wait myself and let an elderly person go ahead of me; that's called respect. And it would be nice to respect these pharmacists who are doing their best. Waiting won't make you sick, so show a little respect. It doesn't mean they aren't doing their jobs. Some people need to feel reassured and informed, and these pharmacists provide that while maintaining professional confidentiality.
For my part, I have no complaints.

Excellent pharmacy with truly outstanding service.
From the moment you walk in, you can tell the customer is the priority. If there's a bit of a wait, a new counter is quickly opened. The welcome, advice, and support are always readily available and delivered with great professionalism.
The pharmacy's over-the-counter section is very well designed: a comprehensive selection, regularly featured new products, and items tailored to current needs and minor seasonal ailments, all at very reasonable prices.
This pharmacy has all the features of a larger one, while maintaining a warm, attentive, and personalized welcome. Both the staff and management are always available and pleasant.
Parking is very easy right in front, making the experience even simpler.

I went to this pharmacy because my usual pharmacy in Nuits-Saint-Georges was closed. I was passing through Dijon and needed my chronic medication, which I absolutely must take morning and evening and which I'm not allowed to interrupt.
Since I didn't have my prescription with me, the pharmacist refused to dispense it, despite my active pharmaceutical record being linked to my health insurance card, which allows for verification of current treatments.
I left without my medication and without a solution, with the only response being: "I can't do anything for you, you're not a customer here, too bad." This reaction seemed particularly dismissive given the importance of a daily treatment that must not be stopped.
The next morning, I contacted a pharmacy in Nolay. The healthcare professional I spoke to on the phone immediately took the situation seriously, checked with me to see if there was a closer pharmacy, and, finding that there wasn't, told me to come in so they could find a solution. Once there, she confirmed that an exceptional dispensing could be made using my pharmaceutical record.
I fully understand the existence of rules, but in a healthcare facility, one also expects to be listened to, supported, and to find solutions. This experience was very disappointing and worrying.

Closes at 7:18 PM when they advertise closing at 7:30 PM. Frankly, how convenient when your doctor prescribes emergency medication at the last minute! Thanks for respecting your opening hours.

I went to this pharmacy today with my mother, who uses a cane to avoid falling. The elderly pharmacist with glasses (the manager) refused to serve us because there was a lady in a wheelchair. I quote, "You have a mild disability." How can you judge someone without knowing them, sir? This is called discrimination, and it will not go unpunished, dear sir!
This pharmacy is a place to avoid.
Again this morning, November 19, 2025, the old man with glasses told me he didn't want me to come back to this pharmacy, that there was another one 300 meters away. But no, my dear sir, until next time. Best regards.

I came to ask a polite question about the possibility of obtaining a six-month supply of Levothyroxine (the prescription stated "enough for 12 months").
The refusal itself wasn't a problem for me. However, the tone used was inappropriate, condescending, and humiliating.
I have been on lifelong thyroid hormone replacement therapy since I had a total thyroidectomy at the age of 18 (I am almost 38). This is not a treatment for comfort, but an essential medical treatment.
Among the remarks made to me were:
"In Paris, they even roll out the red carpet for you, but not here"
and
"Consider yourself lucky to have a three-month supply."
Telling a patient "consider yourself lucky" when they ask a question about a vital treatment is neither professional nor respectful.
The problem wasn't the refusal, but the way the patient was addressed.
This isn't about "being happy," but about essential medical treatment following a cancer diagnosis! Dispensing the medication can be refused according to regulations, but respect should never be optional, especially not in a medical context.
Given the tone and certain remarks, I felt this exchange was stigmatizing, even discriminatory/racist. This feeling was reinforced by the fact that my last name (visible on the prescription) is of foreign origin. I don't pretend to know the intentions, but the effect was deeply humiliating and avoidable.
A pharmacy is a place of care: one should be able to ask a question there without being belittled.

I would have appreciated a response from the employee to my loud greeting.
I received no reply.
I would have liked to have been served after approaching the counter, given the lack of customers in the shop (I was the only customer).

Negative experience. It was my fault I couldn't get a prescription for one inhaler in time. But clearly, I believe that when someone requests this type of treatment, it's for a valid reason. As a result, I was in the emergency room from 10 PM to 3 AM for shortness of breath.

My wife and I came in urgently due to a severe allergic reaction during the night. I understand it was late, but the pharmacist's reaction made us extremely uncomfortable and irritated. We rang the bell several times, and when he finally got to us, we explained the situation (my lips were swelling, and my tongue was starting to swell as well). He brought us the medication, and when we asked him how to use it, he just stared at me without answering. I repeated myself, and he replied, "As it says on the prescription," with little seriousness and a hint of disdain. After taking the medication, I asked him how long it would take to work, as my whole body had been burning and swelling for two hours. There was another brief silence, and he replied, "Oh, you know, it varies," before laughing in our faces. I find this treatment dehumanizing. I was in real distress, and he seemed to be treating us with laziness and little empathy. Thank you for providing us with the medication, but I want to ensure that others in our situation do not receive the same treatment.

Great neighborhood pharmacy. Professional and friendly staff (well, one of the employees isn't always very discreet, but she's nice) and, most importantly, the pharmacists here don't try to sell you supplements that aren't on your prescription, unlike some of their competitors. Being neither a hypochondriac nor an easy target, I really appreciate it.

Essential Tips for Choosing a Pharmacy in Dijon
Navigating the healthcare landscape in a new or familiar city can be tricky, but understanding how the local pharmacy system works will ensure you always receive the best care. French pharmacists are highly trained medical professionals who can often diagnose minor ailments and save you a trip to the doctor. Here are some practical tips to help you make the most of your visit.
Understand the "Pharmacie de Garde" System
Pharmacies in France operate on a rotating schedule for nights, Sundays, and public holidays. If you need medication outside standard hours, do not simply wander the streets looking for an open sign. You can find the current on-duty pharmacy by checking the window of any closed pharmacy, visiting the official local government website for Dijon, or calling 3237. The local police station also maintains a list of the nearest open pharmacy for emergencies.
Ask for Generic Medications (Médicaments Génériques)
France has one of the highest rates of generic drug usage in Europe, which keeps healthcare costs low. When your doctor prescribes a medication, the pharmacist will often automatically propose a generic version unless the doctor has marked the prescription "non substituable." If you are offered a brand name, you can always ask the pharmacist if a generic equivalent is available to save money and reduce your social security reimbursement burden.
Utilize the Private Consultation Booth
If you need to discuss symptoms, ask for emergency contraception, or manage sensitive health issues, do not feel obligated to discuss this at the main counter. By law and professional practice, most pharmacies in Dijon are equipped with a private "espace de confidentialité." You can simply ask the pharmacist, "Puis-je vous parler en privé?" (Can I speak to you privately?) to ensure your medical history remains confidential.
Check the Parapharmacy Section for Wellness
While the pharmacy counter is for medication, the "parapharmacie" section is for wellness, beauty, and nutrition. If you are looking for high-quality French skincare brands like Avène, La Roche-Posay, or Bioderma, or need specialized baby formula and vitamins, you can often browse these sections freely without waiting in line. Prices can vary between pharmacies, so it is worth comparing if you are buying non-prescription items in bulk.
Bring Your Carte Vitale or EHIC
To ensure smooth processing and immediate reimbursement for your prescriptions, always carry your French social security card (Carte Vitale) or your European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) if you are visiting from another EU country. Pharmacies in Dijon use a digital system called SESAM-Vitale to scan these cards instantly. If you do not have a card, you will receive a "feuille de soins" (treatment form) which you must send to your insurance provider manually for reimbursement.
