12 Best Live Music Venues in A Coruña

A Coruña’s relationship with music is not a passive one. This is a city where the Atlantic wind seems to carry melodies through the glass-fronted galleries of the Marina, and where the sound of the ocean blends with late-night rehearsals in tucked-away basements. To understand the city is to understand that music is not just an event here; it is part of the social fabric that binds the community together through the long, damp winters and the glorious, fleeting summers.

The landscape of live performance in the city has shifted over the years. While massive stadiums on the outskirts host the global megastars, the soul of the city’s music scene beats strongest in its smaller rooms, historic theaters, and converted industrial spaces. It is in these venues that you find the true character of Galicia—a mix of raw punk energy, traditional Celtic folk roots, and sophisticated indie pop that defies easy categorization.

For the traveling music lover, navigating this scene requires more than just checking a listings page. It requires knowing which rooms have the best acoustics, which bars support the local underground, and which theaters offer an experience so beautiful that the architecture rivals the performance on stage. It is about understanding that in A Coruña, the venue is often just as important as the artist.

The geography of the city plays a vital role in the concert-going experience. From the historic center near the Plaza de María Pita to the student-heavy neighborhoods of Os Mallos and the artistic vibe of the Pescadería district, each area offers a distinct flavor of nightlife. Moving between these zones allows a visitor to hear the evolution of Galician sound in real-time, from the bagpipes of traditional bands to the synthesizers of modern electronic acts.

Accessibility is another key factor that defines the local scene. A Coruña is a walkable city, and many of the best venues are located within a short stroll of each other. This density creates a vibrant, almost festival-like atmosphere on weekend nights, allowing patrons to hop from an intimate jazz club to a raucous rock bar without ever needing to call a taxi.

The diversity of the programming is remarkable for a city of this size. On any given night, you might find a hardcore punk band from Madrid playing in a repurposed warehouse, while a few streets away, a classically trained pianist performs in a Modernist theater. This eclecticism ensures that whether you are a fan of heavy metal, hip-hop, flamenco, or indie folk, there is a stage waiting for you.

To help you cut through the noise and find the best spots, we have curated a list of the spaces that consistently deliver exceptional sound, great atmospheres, and unforgettable nights. These are the places where the locals go, where the acoustics are respected, and where the connection between artist and audience feels electric.

It's a great place to have some drinks and watch live performances. All the artists that come here are really good. The only drawback is that performances start very late and the drinks prices are comparatively high.

We went to the trivia game; it would be great if they had some food. It's a small place, but it was packed.

Rainy day with few people around. I took the opportunity to read peacefully while listening to jazz. They work with Pepsi and gave me a free slice of Spanish omelet.
Alberto Fdez★★★★★
A great place with a fantastic atmosphere, especially if you enjoy music. They organize activities like talks, chess tournaments, and trivia games, and you can bring your own games to play there. They have a variety of cocktails and some craft beers. The customer service is excellent.

I usually go to this place when they have trivia nights with Víctor, but the guys who run the bar are really nice and treat all their customers brilliantly. It's always a pleasure going to the Ateneo.

I'm an Erasmus student here in Coruña and i find in this pub my second home. Two top qualities concerts per week, the best jazz mood you can find and also the best liquor café you can drink. If you have enough about reggaeton and techno, this is your place. Super.

Excellent atmosphere for rock lovers! I visited the venue to see a friend play with his band, and the experience was fantastic. The acoustics are excellent; you can enjoy the live music without it being deafening. The venue has a very distinctive decor, and the service is attentive; they brought our drinks to the bar in no time, even though it was packed. It's the perfect haven if you're looking for good music and an authentic atmosphere. I recommend arriving early if there's a concert to get a spot close to the stage.
Andrea Bouso Blanco★☆☆☆☆
The waiter who served me spilled water in my glass. When I complained (obviously), he poured me another one and tried to charge me twice. He also poured me a second glass (which I think he carelessly put detergent in, because it tasted awful). I don't know if the place is to blame or if the waiters' wages are too high, but it was expensive and terrible. I would never go back willingly.

Excellent place. Friendly staff. We arrived during a birthday party. And they let us choose the music. Recommended !

I stumbled across it by chance; it had a great atmosphere, and I enjoyed the portions, as well as the tapas. The prices were reasonable, and I felt comfortable in the ambiance. My thanks to the chef; everything was flavorful and beautifully presented. The service was very friendly, and I recommend it and will return.
David Fanego Arenas★☆☆☆☆
I went with two friends for drinks (a mojito, a shandy, and a soft drink). When I wanted to order a second mojito, it was 11:50 PM, and the waiter told me he wouldn't serve me one because they closed at midnight. I was surprised because I knew, from having been there several times, that on Thursdays the place closed at 2:00 AM (and that's what it says on this app), but I thought maybe they had changed their hours that day for some reason. But then I found out that wasn't the case, because in less than five minutes, other customers came in and he served them. When it came time to pay, I mentioned it, and he told me that their drinks were mixed drinks and that he had put them in plastic cups so they could leave (an option he hadn't offered me). I turned around and saw that he had served them in glass cups and that they were calmly drinking them inside the bar. I'm giving it one star because I felt the waiter didn't want to work or respect the schedule, that he lied to me and was taking me for a fool.
Gabriel Cristino★★★★★
Very pleasant and welcoming atmosphere, perfect for any occasion. Friendly service with lovely people. I'll definitely be back!

Great vibes and an awesome band, Like a Stone, who entertained us so much!! It would be great if the sound and drinks kept improving, keep it up guys!! 💃🥳
Yemberlis González★★☆☆☆
The downside is that they play a lot of salsa from Cali, and the same type of music constantly isn't pleasant. Not everyone there is from Cali, so it's not as enjoyable as other salsa music. If you go in a group, you'll need to purchase separate packages because they don't sell drinks.
Cris RV★★☆☆☆
Depending on the concert, it's too small. Honestly, it's not the venue's fault, but I couldn't hear half of the last concert because people wouldn't shut up. I don't understand the point of shouting throughout the entire concert. Don't pay for a ticket if that's not the case.
Juan Jose Caceres Agra★★★★★
Cozy atmosphere. Great sound. We saw a fantastic concert with a really good vibe!
MrMatthew082★☆☆☆☆
A terrible experience. They don't even have a license to hold events, which is why they schedule them so early. It's a shame because the venue itself is quite nice, but they don't know how to manage it, and that's what gives them a terrible reputation in the local scene. They have a reputation for canceling events without any explanation, and when you arrive, they take forever to open the doors, which makes soundchecks incredibly time-consuming and turns organizing an event into complete chaos. It's always the last place you'd choose for an event.

The girl who served us was lovely, very friendly and kind. Her service was wonderful. The croquettes were delicious, the beers were great, and they even have kalimotxo! Great atmosphere. When we return to A Coruña, we'll definitely be back! 🧡
Alejandro Montero Navarro★☆☆☆☆
We tried to have a pre-game drink at this place on the day of the Deportivo-Elche match, and it turned into a real ordeal. To begin with, the queue to get to the stand where they sell the small bottles and plastic cups of beer was endless. They weren't clear on the prices either, and the guy who hands out the cups shouts at you, as if you were deaf. He was with a woman, who looked rather unsuitable for customer service, and rudely insisted that she only sold the bottles, that she didn't know how to pour the beer, and that her companion should do it. I think the bare minimum for serving customers is good manners, hygiene, demeanor, and appropriate attire. This bar seems more geared towards getting completely wasted than enjoying a peaceful beer while having a proper pre-game get-together. A textbook NO GO; I absolutely will not be returning if I ever go back to Riazor.

Esther Diz★★★★★
If you're looking for a place with a welcoming atmosphere and good music in A Coruña, El Cabo is a great option. The bar has a warm and relaxed style, perfect for going out with friends or enjoying a quiet evening. The drinks selection is varied, and the cocktails are well-made, striking a perfect balance between creativity and classic favorites.
LazaroOrlando Moreno★★★★★
A classic local spot with great service and atmosphere
bego vs★★★★★
It has an excellent location and a great atmosphere, with good music and very decent drinks at a reasonable price, something that's not common in city centers. The service is very friendly, and they even serve mojitos! So, in conclusion, a highly recommended place.

We had a few drinks with some friends after dinner, in a pleasant atmosphere.
Noelia López★★★★★
I love the atmosphere and the music, and all the staff make you feel right at home. Luis is wonderful, but the waitress is lovely too. She works in several places in A Coruña, and I don't understand some of the comments about her being so patient, repeating things a thousand times. But, well, we all know how nights out are, and when you don't let them do what they want, the only way they can react is to try to discredit you. Both of them are true professionals.
Tatiana Silva Mont★☆☆☆☆
We were regulars at this place, usually going there after work on Sundays to have a good time, but yesterday we had a terrible experience that left much to be desired. We invited two more friends to check it out and have a good time, and they had the worst experience because the waitress (who we've seen in physical altercations with customers before, and there's no need to mention her name because everyone already knows who she is for the same reason) started a fight and hit one of my friends for taking a drink outside, something she didn't know was allowed since it was her first day there, and to top it all off, we had barely ordered our first drink. It all ended badly because this girl lacked the courtesy and, above all, the proper manners to tell us that we couldn't take glass outside. She was directly aggressive and used force, accusing my friend of being violent and the whole group of being violent and drunk, even though we hadn't even finished our drinks. I should also add that if you want to mediate, there's no way. The owner, like the waitress, only resorts to threats and rudeness. They're completely unprofessional when it comes to dialogue. All this man does is threaten you and accuse you of being violent. But of course, you don't know who's more drunk, the waitress or the owner himself… shameful. Oh, but then you have the girl telling everyone inside that if the police come, she'll say she didn't do anything and paint the others as violent; something that's happened twice before with other girls… honey, you're the violent one.
brandon ladino★☆☆☆☆
Want a live fight experience with the waitress, buying drinks you won't drink, hearing violent screams, and all this on your first time? This is the place for you! Highly recommended for this kind of show every Sunday!!!

At first it was a bit empty, but 1 hour after they opened to the public people really started to appear. Really nice ambiance overall and the DJ was for sure the star of the night. First starting with reggae and ending up with really good quality techno. Had a lot of fun, would 100 go again.

The hall is nice and the quality of the music is great. However , we got the tickets for Padre Guilhermo DJ set, which was supposed to start at 12:30 AM, but he didn’t appear till 2:30 AM , so we left. The time of the concert mentioned in the ticket should be respected.

i was at party on 04 Nov, WakeUP party. on a second floor i gave my jucket to wardrobe, paid 2Euro. i put my scarf (and small ambrela) inside the saleeve , like i always do, all my life (even last WakeUp party) When i back to take my stuff i did not found no ambrella no crarf. Girl ( the most disagrodable and rude person i have contact so faw, she was so mean with any word and action she did ) So she told me i have to pay for my ambrela 2Euro + my scarf 2Euro, if i want it back. I understand if i want put 2 juckets on 1 tag i have to pay double. Dear administration of Pelicano, i really woud love to hear your opinion about this ugly way to make more money?

Attended for 3 months on Erasmus 2024, amazing atmosphere and top music! A bit pricey, but worth it. I will miss it!

Extremely young audience, and surprisingly high entrance fee (16€) for a standard evening with no event/show. Nevertheless good mix of English and Spanish music. Very loud.

Tips for Enjoying Live Music in A Coruña

To make the most of your musical tour of the city, it helps to understand a few local customs and practical considerations. The concert culture here is warm, welcoming, and slightly nocturnal, but a little preparation can ensure you get the best view, sound, and experience possible.

Buy Tickets in Advance: While spontaneity is romantic, many of the smaller venues on this list have very limited capacity. Even for local acts, weekend shows often sell out days in advance. Check the venue’s social media or ticketing platforms before you head out to avoid disappointment at the door.

Adjust Your Schedule: Live music in Spain starts late, and A Coruña is no exception. If a show is advertised for 9:00 PM, the doors may not open until then, and the headliner likely won’t take the stage until after 11:00 PM. Eat a late dinner beforehand and prepare for a night that extends into the early morning hours.

Support the Local Economy: Many smaller bars and clubs do not charge an entry fee, relying instead on bar sales to pay the artists. If you are watching a free show, be sure to purchase a drink or two. It is the social contract of the local scene and ensures these vital cultural spaces can continue to operate.

Explore the Neighborhood: The best venues are often surrounded by excellent tapas bars and cervecerías. Arrive in the area early to grab a bite and soak in the atmosphere of the neighborhood. This is especially true in the old town, where the narrow streets create a natural pre-show buzz.

Check for "Conciertos Didácticos": If you are interested in the classical or jazz offerings at the city’s more formal theaters, look for educational or matinee performances. These are often cheaper, less crowded, and offer a deeper insight into the music being performed, making them perfect for the curious traveler.
