12 Pharmacies in A Coruña City Centre

Finding a reliable pharmacy in the heart of A Coruña is rarely a concern until you actually need one. Whether you are a local resident managing a chronic condition, a parent dealing with a sudden fever, or a traveler who has run out of essential medication, knowing where to go saves valuable time and stress. The city centre is densely packed with excellent healthcare resources, but the sheer volume of options can sometimes feel overwhelming when you are in a hurry.

Unlike in some countries where pharmacies are hidden inside large department stores, Spanish pharmacies are distinct, highly visible establishments marked by a green cross. They are not just retail outlets; they are trusted health consultation points. The pharmacists in Spain are highly trained medical professionals who can often diagnose minor ailments, recommend over-the-counter treatments, and advise you on whether a doctor’s visit is truly necessary.

A Coruña’s city centre is compact and highly walkable, making it relatively easy to find a pharmacy within a few minutes from almost any point. However, location is only one part of the equation. Factors like extended opening hours, specialized services, and the availability of specific products, such as dermocosmetics or orthopedic supplies, can differentiate one establishment from another.

For visitors exploring the Old Town or the bustling commercial districts, navigating the local healthcare system can be daunting. Language barriers often make a simple task feel complicated. Fortunately, many pharmacists in A Coruña speak English, and they are generally very patient and willing to help foreigners navigate the Spanish system, including explaining how to use a prescription issued in another EU country.

The city operates a strict system of "Farmacias de Guardia" (on-duty pharmacies). While most stores close in the afternoon for siesta and on Sundays, designated pharmacies remain open 24 hours a day to ensure that nobody is ever without access to medication. Knowing how to find these specific locations is crucial for late-night emergencies.

If you are staying in the centre or passing through, you want a pharmacy that is reputable, well-stocked, and conveniently located. From historic storefronts that have served the community for generations to modern clinics offering cutting-edge health advice, the area has a diverse range of options. We have analyzed the central zones to highlight the most accessible and highly regarded establishments.

Whether you need a specific prescription refill, baby formula, or simply a reliable painkiller, the following list provides a comprehensive guide to the best pharmacies in the heart of A Coruña.

I was there on the evening of December 5th, contacted a consultant who works in the skin care department, a very nice girl, she gave me a tester of foundation, consulted me about my facial problems and even recommended a clinic where I could go. This is very valuable! Thank you for such customer focus, I was pleasantly impressed! I have been buying from you for several years now and am always happy with the service and prices!

I had bad case of allergies, this guys saved me by working on Sunday, couldn’t appreciate it more!
Nerea Da Silva★★★★★
I've ordered formula from them a few times and I'm delighted. They deliver on time, the price is very good, and everything always arrives beautifully packaged. Not only that, they always include a little something extra for my baby, like cookies or fruit yogurt drinks. Plus, if you reach a certain amount, they send you a free gift of your choice. I highly recommend them.
Alexa Ballesteros★★★★★
A wonderful experience. Alejandra helped me create my skincare routine. She immediately identified my skin type, asked for my total budget, and based on that, we created a very comprehensive routine with a wide range of products. She gave me high-end options as well as more affordable ones. Her professionalism and product knowledge are evident. I'm very happy with the shopping experience and the routine. 10 out of 10! 👏👏

A very BAD and UNPLEASANT experience. I placed an order through their website, they accepted it, I paid for it religiously, and 24 hours later they called to inform me that the product was out of stock. Why accept the order on their website if they don't have it in stock? Do they understand that when we order a product, it's because we need it? We could have ordered it from another pharmacy, as we did, and we would have avoided a delay of more than 24 hours. Please, think a little about your customers and not just about making money!

I placed an online order and it was ready for pickup the next day. It came with a free shower gel (I would have preferred a sample of face cream, haha). The staff were very friendly. It's great that they're open all day without a lunch break. I'll definitely order again.

Good prices and very good service from their online store

I didn't know where to get my baby's ears pierced, and I'd heard wonderful things about Vero. I went when she was just over a month old, and she recommended waiting a little longer to allow the cartilage to fully develop. I went back today to have them pierced, as she advised, and both she and the rest of the staff were incredibly attentive and made sure my little girl felt comfortable and cared for. She did it with so much love and skill. They're a fantastic team.

I had to go late in the evening for my son, who had a pain in his ribs, making it difficult to breathe. The pharmacist was asking all the relevant questions, gave us really good advice, and we bought an analgesic cream and some ibuprofen in liquid form, really quick acting. I had the chance to look around while waiting for other customers to be served, and they had a really good variety of natural remedies as well as cosmetics and all the regular things you find in a pharmacy.
Jarri El Guarro.★☆☆☆☆
It's not my usual pharmacy, but it was in the area. I asked the tall, elderly man for 500mg of paracetamol, and he gave me a brand-name one. A whopping 5 euros (4.90). I asked if he had a generic, and reluctantly, the generic appeared: 0.70€.
Maria Prieto★☆☆☆☆
Caribbean rhythm, a nightmare trying to get one prescription for an hour! Slow, inept, and chatting to everyone instead of helping. Very unprofessional! Awful!
Luz Ramos★☆☆☆☆
I always buy Blemil Evolution 2 formula at the same price, €26.95. This time it comes with a €5 discount voucher at the checkout, but they won't honor it. They tell me the final price, even with the discount, is €26.95... so I'll buy it at the Castro 24-hour pharmacy, where they actually apply the discount!
Encarna Suárez Fernández★★★★★
I must publicly thank La Torre pharmacy. Pepe, José Ramón, and Bea are managing to get me the medication I so desperately need, even though the Ministry has been notified of a shortage. They are still obtaining it and providing service 24/7/365 to serve A Coruña and anyone else who needs it. I highly recommend them as the best pharmacy in the world!

A far from satisfactory experience I placed an order and, unfortunately, the experience was not what I expected for several reasons: * Delivery time: They promise delivery within 24-48 hours, but in my case, it took a week to arrive. * Customer service: When I contacted them to complain about the delay, they offered no solution or alternative, simply telling me to wait and without considering any compensation for the delay, the inconvenience, and the failure to meet their 24/48-hour promise. * Package condition: When it finally arrived, the products were outside their respective boxes, and everything was quite disorganized inside the package. It's a shame, because better customer service and a little more care in the packaging would have completely changed the experience. I hope they take this into account to improve in the future.

Online store with very competitive prices. Between placing the order and the package arriving in Madrid, it only took two days; I was able to pick it up from an Inpost locker. Very efficient. Thank you.
Adelaida Olmos★★★★★
I'm so happy with my order! I placed it and received it in 48 hours, so fast. The website is fantastic; they have so many products and brands that aren't easy to find elsewhere. They also included a nice touch with the order. I'll definitely be ordering again! And the prices are great too!
Mireia Monge★★★★★
The order arrived the next day, perfectly packaged in a custom pharmacy box, with a free pack of hygienic masks. So, a 10 out of 10 for the shipping and presentation, and also for my satisfaction with the product: the surgical masks are Type IIR (98% filtration and for healthcare use), and they come in sealed packages with their certificate. At my company, we manufacture and supply the same product, but all in blue for hospitals, and I wanted a change, so I placed a small order to try it out. You've found a good product to supply at a good price. I will definitely order again and highly recommend you.

Today I went buying paracetamol over here. The person behind the counter tried to sell me a package of Paracetamol for 4.50 then I asked if she did not had a generic one because its seemed really expensive. The she gave me one of 0.70 cents. Amazed

I had an important tournament on the next day and pain in my knee. Adrian recommend me a cream which let me play without payn. Big thank you a Adrian and his farmacia !!!
Cristina Rico★☆☆☆☆
Very bad experience. They gave us medication in advance and didn't inform us of the 10-day return period. When we went back on the 11th, they refused to refund the amount paid. Furthermore, they offered no compensation whatsoever. Lack of information and little consideration for the customer. We will not be returning.
Marta Corberó★★★★★
I went in with a prescription and had some questions about the prescribed treatment plan. They reviewed the information with me and explained in a simple way how to follow the treatment. The service was respectful and instilled a lot of confidence.

I'm delighted with this pharmacy and the staff. The service is wonderful, always with a smile and always helping customers choose what's best for them. It's definitely my go-to pharmacy in every way. Thank you so much for your continued support.

I bought a probiotic for 31 euros. Days later, another well-known pharmacy charged me 18.75 euros for the same probiotic. Frankly, that seems like too much of a difference.

On Saturday afternoon I went to this pharmacy to buy sunscreen and I was delighted with the service. A young technician helped me and gave me excellent advice on what type of cream I should buy based on my skin type. Honestly, I've never had it explained so well. I already thanked the girl at the pharmacy, but I also wanted to mention it here. Thank you!

A very good experience at this pharmacy. Kelly was very friendly and professional, explained everything very clearly, and it's obvious she knows what she's doing. It's a pleasure to receive such advice. I will definitely be back. 🫶🏻

Well, it's a bit late for this review, but a promise is a promise. Since I contacted you via WhatsApp, everything has been wonderful and fast. Thank you for your exceptional service, your spectacular prices, and the little extras you send, which are always appreciated. Thank you, Paula, for the card you sent thanking me for my purchase. I hope there will be many more! I highly recommend you. For me, it's a very well-structured business that runs perfectly...😉👏👏👏
OSCAR (CHISPIS)★★★★☆
This was my first time buying from this site, and the order went exactly as planned. Shipping (with tracking number); proper packaging and delivery time, as agreed. A personalized business card (THANK YOU, PAULA!) and, as a bonus, the option to pick up the order at a collection point or post office. Prices vary depending on the product; I recommend checking their offers and making a purchase. As a suggestion, consider offering free shipping on orders over a certain amount. Best regards

I was absolutely delighted with their service. It was my second time ordering online thanks to their great deals, and there was a minor issue with a very low-cost item. Their excellent and unbeatable customer service resolved it quickly, with prompt, friendly, and efficient assistance. I highly recommend them and will continue to be a customer whenever I need them. Warm regards!

Very satisfied with the service provided. Despite my initial reservations about online shopping, the order arrived in perfect condition and very quickly. Highly recommended, and I will definitely order from you again if needed. Best regards!

Yesterday I went to the pharmacy late in the day and left feeling incredibly happy with the service. The two women who helped me were lovely: they explained everything in great detail, answered all my questions, and were a huge help. It's so nice to find people like that, so kind and professional. Thank you so much, ladies! ✨

Delighted! I went in this morning for a bandage for a wound, and the pharmacist treated it and gave me aftercare instructions. Very kind, I was very happy. Plus, it's a lovely shop and they carry top cosmetic brands.
Marta★★★★★
Every time I go, the service is fantastic. The staff is very friendly and you can tell they know what they're doing. Special mention to Noe, who always has a kind word and a super professional attitude. It's reassuring to go to a pharmacy where they explain everything patiently and with a smile. Highly recommended.
Miguel C G P★☆☆☆☆
The treatment I received yesterday morning from a staff member named Sandra was terrible. I don't disagree with her, but the way she took advantage of me to raise her voice at the counter, as if I were committing a crime, when all I did was hand over a (freshly written) prescription that apparently had a flaw—prescribing both an antibiotic and a pain reliever at the same time—doesn't make sense to me. I maintain that she may be right, but there are ways to express things. I feel sorry for the rest of the team, and especially Dina, Cristian, and Antón, who are very nice people. But I'm changing pharmacies.

The ONLY place in A Coruña willing to give us a certified Covid test on Easter so we can travel home the next morning. And they did 7 of us at the same time. THANK YOU SO SO MUCH!!!

Great pharmacy with lots of medicine on hand, but if there is anything you need that they don´t have in the moment, they can order it for you. Came across it on my way to work one day and now it´s my go to pharmacy. The girls at the front end are very nice and willing to help you find whatever you need. The owner has helped me a few times as well and is very efficient. Lots of different pharmacies in the center, but this one still has a local feel to it as they know their habitual clients. Totally recommend them!
Luis MISA BUELA★★★★☆
The pharmacy has just opened its new, spacious premises. Very close to its old location, in a small corner, cleverly utilized. A big change and a beautiful renovation. Open 24 hours and always very professional and attentive.

Excellent service. I went in for reflux medication and the pharmacist who helped me was very kind and explained other, more suitable options. Professional and very attentive. I highly recommend it!
Rebeca Pérez★★★★★
I ordered a cream one afternoon and received it at home the very next day. It was fantastic because they even included a small envelope inside the box with all the samples, which is great because other places I've bought from just throw them around, giving a really bad impression. The service was impeccable. I will definitely order again.
Javisan G.★☆☆☆☆
It's been a disaster since the owners changed. Before, there were three or four really nice employees and you never had to wait. Today I waited 20 minutes to be served. There was only one employee and one customer. Sometimes I walk by and there's a queue, so I don't even bother going in. I had to go because I needed medication urgently. It would have been better to spend those 20 minutes looking for another pharmacy nearby. I won't be back. Their policy for dispensing prescription medications is that if they know you, they give them to you, and if not, they ask for the prescription.
Mercedes Verjano Temprano★☆☆☆☆
The owner is a gossip and a troublemaker, she meddles in everyone's business. Every time I pass by she's smoking in the doorway and sets a bad example. I'll never go back. There are plenty of pharmacies around!

In 2022 I was walking the Camino and found my feet got very tired and sore after not too many miles. A friend in A Coruña recommended this pharmacy. He said the orthotics I was wearing were too stiff and did not provide enough cushion. He made orthotics for me and they have been wonderful. I went back the next year and got another pair. Thank you!
Javier Lozano★★★★★
A pharmacy and orthopedics store I can completely trust. I especially want to highlight the professionalism of the team and their willingness to help and advise you in the best way possible. They have a very comprehensive catalog of orthopedic products and excellent service. 100% recommended.

My partner and I are at home with COVID-19. After speaking with the doctor and learning that some pharmacies offer home delivery in these isolation cases, we decided to call and ask. This is the second time they've delivered our order, and today we were pleasantly surprised that they didn't just bring what we ordered. They also included a whole bunch of products to make this time more bearable. Cough drops, sleeping pills and teas, natural energy supplements, magazines, creams, etc. Thank you so much for this thoughtful gesture and for delivering to our door.
Lucía GM★★☆☆☆
Fresh out of the ER, I went to get my medication for flu symptoms, and the short, dark-haired woman with curly hair and glasses rudely told me, "You shouldn't be here," when I explained how I was feeling. I was completely taken aback. I had to buy my medication! I thought her comment was completely nonsensical, since a pharmacy is a place where you buy medicine when you're sick. I've been there before because I live in the area, and if I see her there, I don't go in. On the other hand, the young woman who's sometimes there is lovely, as is the young man and an older gentleman who is very professional and helpful. They need to replace that woman.
Noel Eiroa Pérez★★★★★
I went there to get some orthotic insoles made, and the attention and service have been excellent so far. I didn't use them as a pharmacy per se. However, from what I could see, they have good service.

Tips for Visiting a Pharmacy in A Coruña

Navigating the pharmacy system in Spain is generally straightforward, but understanding a few local customs and regulations can make your visit significantly smoother, especially if you are a visitor or a new resident. While you can purchase basic items like bandages or vitamins easily, the rules for medication are stricter than in many other parts of the world. Here are some essential tips to ensure you get exactly what you need efficiently and safely.

1. Know the "Guardia" System for Late Nights

If you need a pharmacy after 10:00 PM, on a Sunday, or during a public holiday, do not expect standard locations to be open. Instead, you must locate the "Farmacia de Guardia." You can find this information posted on the door of any closed pharmacy, in local newspapers, or via the official College of Pharmacists website/app. These duty pharmacies rotate, so the location changes nightly.

2. Do Not Expect to Buy Strong Painkillers Over the Counter

In Spain, medications that are common OTC in other countries, such as Ibuprofen 600mg or codeine-based products, require a prescription. If you ask for "Ibuprofeno," you will likely be offered the 400mg dose. For anything stronger, or for antibiotics, you must present a valid prescription from a Spanish doctor or an EU-recognized provider.

3. Bring Your Health Card (Tarjeta Sanitaria)

If you are a resident with public healthcare, always carry your Tarjeta Sanitaria (health card). The pharmacist will scan it to process electronic prescriptions and apply the correct government subsidy. Without this card, you will pay the full retail price for prescription medication. For EU visitors, bring your European Health Insurance Card (EHIC).

4. Ask for Generic Medications (Genéricos)

Pharmaceuticals in Spain are priced according to a reference system. To save money, ask the pharmacist if a "genérico" (generic brand) is available for your prescription. They are legally required to offer the cheapest option if one exists, but confirming your preference ensures you don’t pay more for a brand name when a chemically identical alternative is available.

5. Pharmacies are for Minor Health Consultations

Spanish pharmacists are an excellent first line of defense for minor issues like colds, allergies, skin rashes, or digestive problems. Don’t hesitate to describe your symptoms. They are trained to provide professional advice and will refer you to a doctor if they suspect something serious. This can save you a long wait at a medical centre for a simple issue.

The convenience of having high-quality pharmaceutical care within walking distance is one of the many benefits of life in central A Coruña. The city’s pharmacists are not merely dispensers of pills; they are integral members of the community, often knowing their regular customers by name and tracking their health histories with care. This personalized touch is particularly valuable for elderly residents who rely on consistent medication management.

As you move through the city, you will notice that these establishments are more than just shops; they are pillars of the local infrastructure. By familiarizing yourself with the locations listed above and understanding the local operating hours and regulations, you can ensure that your health needs are met promptly. Whether it is a routine purchase or an urgent requirement, the pharmacies in A Coruña city centre are well-equipped to offer professional, discreet, and efficient service.
