12 Best Halal Restaurants in Annecy

Nestled between the shores of a crystal-clear lake and the towering peaks of the French Alps, Annecy is often celebrated for its medieval architecture and outdoor adventures. Yet, for those who travel with their taste buds, this picturesque town offers an unexpectedly vibrant culinary landscape. The city’s growing diversity has paved the way for a thriving halal dining scene that blends French gastronomy with flavors from North Africa, the Middle East, and the Indian subcontinent.

Finding authentic halal food while traveling can often feel like a compromise between convenience and quality, but Annecy defies that expectation. From sizzling kebabs served on freshly baked bread to refined plates of slow-cooked lamb tagine, the options here are both abundant and satisfying. Whether you are a local resident or a visitor exploring the Venetian-inspired canals, you do not have to sacrifice flavor for dietary adherence.

The beauty of Annecy’s halal restaurants lies in their variety. You can start your day with a hearty North African breakfast, enjoy a quick Lebanese shawarma for lunch, and sit down to a sumptuous Indian curry for dinner. Many of these establishments are family-run, bringing generations of culinary tradition to the table and offering a warm, welcoming atmosphere that feels like home.

For Muslim travelers, knowing that a restaurant serves 100% halal meat—or at least offers verified halal options—provides immense peace of mind. However, navigating a foreign city’s dining scene requires trust. That is why we have curated a list of establishments known not only for their adherence to halal standards but also for their exceptional taste, hygiene, and customer service.

In this guide, we explore the best spots in and around the city center, covering a range of budgets and dining styles. You will find everything from quick, casual bites perfect for a lakeside picnic to elegant interiors ideal for a leisurely dinner after a day of sightseeing. Each recommendation has been selected for its consistency in delivering high-quality food that respects halal principles.

Before we dive into the specific locations, it is worth noting that menus and ownership can change. We recommend calling ahead to confirm current halal certifications or sourcing, especially if you are dining during a busy holiday season. With that in mind, here are the standout destinations that should be on your culinary radar.

Wonderful restaurant tucked away on a less busy street of Annecy. So spotlessly clean and comfortable. Staff was extremely welcoming and friendly. Dinner was excellent from the half chicken cooked to perfection and the sweet potatoe fries crisp. The salad dressing was by far my favorite and after asking a staff member how it was made he kindly gave me the recipe. Would definitely recommend.

We did a big take away order and everything was perfect. Super friendly atmosphere, they speak fluent English and happy to explain menu and help out. I got a tea for free while waiting for my order and complementary salad. Food was too good, will need to go to gym longer now.

Hand down the best Turkish food I’ve had. Ordered the chicken platter, cheese meat lahmachun, aubergine, and the kunafe! Everything was absolute perfection. The spice level, the marinade on the meats were great. Friendly and kind staff. Stop by here if you are in Annacey. You won’t be disappointed!

Had the best meal in Annecy at Marrakech. If you’re tired of the same options in the old town and you want to try food with incredible seasoning and flavors in a fun place, try Marrakech. Service was the best in town, a meal we won’t forget! Thank you!!

It was delicious and reminded me of home 🇲🇦 The lamb tajine had a lot of meat on the bone, an abundance in protein. It fell off the bone. Very good flavours and well presented.

We had a nice meal at Le Marrakech in Annecy. The service was friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere in the restaurant was lovely. The restaurant is beautifully decorated with authentic touches that really added to the experience. The food was nice and well presented. You can really taste the authenticity in the dishes, and everything felt freshly prepared. Overall, a lovely dining experience with friendly service, a warm ambiance, and tasty Moroccan cuisine.

The restaurant decor is super nice, great Moroccan vibe!!! We went on Thursday night without a reservation. Our waitress was nice (although she didn’t speak English much, but she explained the menu to us very well). For two people, we ordered an evening combo menu with a home-made sangria, bricks keftal, lamb tajines, dessert and tea. The food came quickly, and tastes great. We enjoyed our time very much. Please keep up the good work 👍

We’re currently on a driving trip around Europe and decided to spend the day in Annecy, France, after driving over from Montreux, Switzerland with our kids. After a long day of exploring, we were looking for a nice Turkish restaurant for dinner and came across this place through a Google search. It’s in a great location, right in the centre of town. We managed to get a table outside, although they also have plenty of nice seating indoors. You order at the counter, and we went for four chicken doner meals, which came with chips and soft drinks. My little boy had a typical kids’ meal; a chicken burger with chips and chicken nuggets. We’re usually quite particular when eating somewhere new, especially when it comes to cleanliness. The restaurant itself looked very clean and well looked after, the staff were friendly, and most importantly, the food preparation area looked clean and organised. Our food arrived in individual trays and was absolutely delicious! I also ordered their lentil soup, which came with a piece of freshly made bread. The soup was honestly one of the best I’ve had in a restaurant, so flavourful and comforting, it almost felt like a home-cooked meal. We were really impressed with both the food and the overall experience and would definitely recommend this place if you’re in Annecy and looking for tasty Turkish food. Our total came to €64 for the whole family, which we felt was very reasonable considering everything we ordered.

Came here for dinner as I was craving Turkish food and was pleasantly surprised by the quality and flavour of the food. It was absolutely delicious and very authentic. After cycling 60km I needed something hearty and this delivered. I came here for morning fuel breakfast the next morning where I had lentil soup and grilled fresh bread. Absolutely delicious!! 10/10 recommend - especially of youve had enough of cheese!
Two Sheds★★★☆☆
3.3. We had a rough and ready kebab meal here. We both enjoyed it. Our dishes were generous and enjoyable. Plenty of meat and very filling. Service was uneven. The older man was sour and unfriendly, but the younger man was delightful. They won’t win any culinary awards here but who cares.

It’s located a few minutes walk from the coach/bus station in Annecy, France. We Wasn’t really hungry but grabbed a burger on its own with 2 cans of soda. Staff was very friendly and even allowed us to pray within the shop. Burger was ok, just like any other burger from a boss man shop. Would visit here again to try different food when I’m here next time.

Small restaurant with some outdoor seating and indoor seating as well. Service was very sweet for us. The girls were busy, but made sure we had all we needed. They were the servers and the cooks it seemed which impressed me. The food was delicious. The burrata salads are highly recommended!! As I said, it is small, so it gets busy. The prices are also very fair for Annecy. Much better than near the touristy area. Thank you for a nice dinner experience 🙏🏻

This was honestly the best Italian restaurant I’ve ever been to. Everything was absolutely perfect—from the food to the service. The pasta was the best I’ve ever had in my life, rich in flavor and cooked to perfection. Every dish we tried was incredible and beautifully prepared. The staff were extremely friendly, welcoming, and professional, which made the whole experience even better. Plus, the food is halal, which makes it even more special. Highly recommended for anyone looking for authentic, high-quality Italian food. I will definitely be coming back!

Our family found this wonderful little restaurant serving fresh, simple and delicious pasta by 3 lovely ladies. We had the carbonara, gnocchi with pink sauce and the Alfredo. Everything was superb!
Sarah Ziadeh★★★★★
The restaurant is run by two sisters who are incredibly friendly and helpful, they make you feel right at home. The food was delicious; we had carbonara, ravioli and tiramisu, all amazing! Everything is halal, which is a big plus. The place is quite small with limited tables, so it’s best to reserve in advance. Definitely recommend it!❤️

Quaint little restaurant, so make sure to come early to get a table. We ordered carbonara linguine, salmon linguine, bolognaise linguine and ravioli in corail sauce. My best pick is probably the carbonara. It didn't take too long for us to get our food. Their original tiramisu was lovely as well. + all their dishes are halal

One of my favorite restaurants in Annecy. - A big variety of items, from naan wraps, to burgers, to chicken strips all taste delicious. - Staff are friendly, you can deal with them if you don't speak French. - Food is (Delicious), try the chef wrap, and the spicy chicken sandwiches, but other items would taste great as well. - The place is cozy, with a lovely atmosphere, and it stays open late.

Not as big as it looks in the picture—at first glance you might be like what it is! but it's just the size of a person. The taste is truly amazing. I could get two burgers instead of whole menu.
Zakaria Bajwa★★★★★
If you are in Anncey and looking for a very good food to eat then this is the location.
Yupie K★★★★☆
Staff are really friendly and the food is good too. The naan burgers don't look as good as on the image but they still taste good. They're a little more difficult to eat as they're not very stiff and so you can't take the burger out of the foil. I think I would prefer a regular burger over the naan burger. There was a bit of a wait to get my order but this wasn't really the fault of the staff as it was very busy.
Abdulrahman Al-Amri★★★★★
This is by far the best burger I have ever tried, hands down. Big portion, fresh ingredients, food arrived hot and well packaged. Tried the Menu Naan Burger Master Naan. Does not disappoint.

Screen to order food was easy to use. Price of food was reasonable. However, chicken was very over cooked, fries were cold and the taste of both was terrible. I can't imagine that too many people go here twice.
Chaitanya Reddy S★★☆☆☆
Hopeless food. The fried chicken was literally from hours ago just shoved into the naan. I really can’t understand how it’s rated well. Or maybe that’s how they treat tourists.

Good food, good service, and a clean dining area. If you are visiting and don't speak the language ordering from the kiosk makes for "no stress" meal selection. The chicken is deliciously seasoned and the naan is light and soft. Fries are good but you'll have to salt them yourself.

We visited this place on a rainy day after a long walk in Annecy, having noticed it the night before when it was bustling with people. The food was good, maybe just small portion but the overall menu was well worth it, and the lady who served us was very kind and professional. The restaurant itself was warm and cozy, and we thoroughly enjoyed both the food and the overall atmosphere!

Pleasant experience at restaurant. Limited options of menu - but that’s great. Taste was good and rates were reasonable. Recommended when in Annecy Owner lady happened to be from Pune, and she welcomed us well 🙂
Freight Legend★☆☆☆☆
Micro portions, at the same price as a respectable restaurant, in a crowded fast food setting with delivery men ready to slap you with their branded delivery bags. The sauce is watery. The meat is overcooked. The rice is paid extra. The worst part was the service. The two women serving are very chatty. They will make jokes, and be friendly. Untill I noticed they were so friendly, they forgot to bring the menus they have promised. 10 minutes. For the order, there are many people to chat with. Some more 20 minutes. I kept waiting because of the fake reviews talking about the good food. After the order I was hoping for the plate. After all the sauces are ready made on display, just heat up the meat pieces. Not so fast. The main waiter took a smoke and chat break. I was seated next to the door, so I inhaled all this lady was exhaling. Super. Later, after two more rounds around the table, here is the food. Delivered by the second waiter who has no idea who ordered what. On the plus side we got silverware. No napinks. They are keeping the profit high with a few cents worth of paper. My chicken was rather cold. The cheese naan was generous with the slab of Vache qui rit. And the mutton was about the same taste with the chicken, only spicier, and far more chewy. At the end of the meal we have asked what happened with the paid water bottle. The answer came natural: you can get it yourself, but, yea, I can bring it to you. One can get the same prices and slightly larger portions in any of the five Indian restaurants in Annecy. I thought to myself I am not wasting another hour in here, so I went to the counter to pay. I had to wait some more because the waiter had a hard time counting a single payment.
Cathy R★★★★★
We ate here 2 times in one week. Fresh food, flavorful and good-size portions. The mixed vegetables were very welcome as well as 2 different chicken choices. And the owner is so friendly and kind. We have one more week here and we will definitely return for another meal.
Sasa★★★★☆
Waitress is friendly and attentive. Nice naan sandwiches roll and lamb biryani. Price is fair.

Fantastic find in Annecy, close to our Airbnb. It was raining heavy so we decided to find a restaurant close to our apartment and chose Dip Honest Food Annecy, excellent food. We ordered a few plates to share. We ordered 2 pita which were amazingly fresh, a Falalfal Pink Houmous, Chichpea Salad and the Plant Based Kefta. Wow, we loved all the sauces and the flavors, what a surprise. Thr service is excellent offering advise in English to help us decide.

One of the few restaurants serving food through the afternoon. Food and servoce was great. I had the Turkish eggs and chicken pita. They paired well together and I probably didn’t really need the extra pita I ordered to go with the eggs.

This was delicious and affordable. 9€ for an amazing breakfast bowl. They also cater to travellers and allow you to bring your bags in if you’re waiting to go to the station which isn’t far away.

This place is so good that we ended up visiting twice during our stay. Everything here is perfect. The ambience, the food, and the staff. The desserts, the brunch menu, the drinks all were so delicious. I highly recommend this place.

I was a bit underwhelmed from my granola bowl but the other options seem more promising so you should try these. They looked good, but I can just base my opinion on what I tried. Nothing too special special, but definitely a place to try out again!

Tips for Finding and Enjoying Halal Food in Annecy

Navigating a new city’s food scene can be tricky, but a little preparation goes a long way in ensuring a stress-free dining experience. Annecy is a tourist-heavy town, which means that while some restaurants advertise "halal" to attract visitors, others may be more discreet about their sourcing. To help you eat confidently and enjoyably, we have compiled a list of practical strategies that go beyond simply looking for a logo on the window.

Look for the "Halal" Signage, but Ask Questions. Many restaurants in the old town will display a halal certificate or sticker, but this can sometimes be misleading if a venue serves alcohol or mixes non-halal ingredients. Always ask the staff directly if the meat is 100% halal and whether they use separate preparation areas for vegetarian and meat dishes.

Explore Beyond the Old Town. While the Vieille Ville (Old Town) is convenient and beautiful, prices there are often inflated due to tourism. For more authentic and budget-friendly halal options, head to the neighborhoods slightly outside the center, such as the area near the train station or the Avenue de Genève. These spots often cater to locals and offer more generous portions.

Check for Alcohol-Free Environments. If you are looking for a fully halal experience, be aware that many French restaurants, even those serving halal meat, serve wine and beer. If this is a concern, look for establishments that explicitly state they are "sans alcool" (alcohol-free) or ask before being seated.

Call Ahead During Off-Peak Seasons. Annecy is a seasonal town. Some smaller, family-run halal eateries may close for a few weeks in November or January for vacation. A quick phone call can save you a wasted trip, especially if you are traveling specifically for a particular cuisine.

Try the Local Specialties with a Halal Twist. While you might crave familiar flavors, don’t miss the opportunity to try French dishes adapted to halal standards. Some restaurants offer halal versions of classic French steak-frites or gourmet burgers using high-quality, locally sourced halal beef. This allows you to experience French culinary culture without compromising your dietary needs.

Annecy proves that a city known for its cheese and charcuterie can also be a haven for those seeking diverse, halal-friendly meals. The restaurants listed above represent the best of what this Alpine town has to offer, blending hospitality with deep culinary roots. Whether you are refueling after a hike or enjoying a romantic evening by the lake, these kitchens are ready to welcome you.

As the sun sets over the Thiou River and the mountains fade into a silhouette, there is no better way to end the day than with a satisfying meal that aligns with your values. Take your time, explore the side streets, and let the aromas of grilled spices and fresh herbs guide you. In Annecy, the halal food scene is not just an alternative; it is a destination in itself.
