Annecy’s dining scene is often associated with romantic terraces overlooking the Thiou canals or upscale Savoyard fondue houses tucked into the medieval old town. While those experiences are unforgettable, they are not always the most practical option when you have children in tow. The narrow cobblestone alleyways and intimate dining rooms can feel restrictive for toddlers, and long, multi-course menus rarely align with a young child’s patience or bedtime.
The good news is that Annecy is far more family-oriented than its postcard-perfect image suggests. Beyond the tourist-heavy Rue Sainte-Claire, you will find a generous selection of restaurants that actively welcome families with high chairs, changing facilities, and flexible service. Many local chefs understand that a relaxed parent is a returning customer, so they have designed spaces where a spilled glass of water or a chatty preschooler is simply part of the atmosphere.
When selecting the best family-friendly restaurants in Annecy, the focus goes beyond a simple “kids’ menu.” The ideal venue balances quality local cuisine for adults with honest, approachable food for children. It also offers practical elements like enough space between tables for a stroller, quick service to avoid mid-meal meltdowns, and a noise level that naturally absorbs the sound of happy children.
This guide highlights restaurants across different neighborhoods, from the lakefront and the old town to the quieter residential areas near the Pâquier. Whether you are looking for a wood-fired pizza after a swim in Lake Annecy or a traditional tartiflette in a chalet-style dining room, there is a table waiting for you and your family.
Below, you will find a curated list of the 12 best family-friendly restaurants in Annecy, each chosen for its welcoming atmosphere, child-friendly menu options, and consistent quality. Use this guide to plan a stress-free meal where everyone, from the pickiest eater to the most discerning foodie, leaves satisfied.

Great Vibe and Cocktails, But Service Missteps and Cooking Accuracy Need Work
We recently dined at Chez Ingalls in Annecy, and while the restaurant has a lot going for it conceptually, a few key execution errors held the experience back from being truly great.
On the positive side, the atmosphere is fantastic, especially with the charming, tucked-away courtyard entrance and cozy wooden interior. The cocktail program is excellent—the drinks were well-crafted, balanced, and beautifully presented. Additionally, their wine selection is extensive and offers some great regional choices that pair nicely with the traditional menu.
However, the main courses and the service left room for improvement. I ordered the steak requested at medium, but it was served rare. While the quality of the meat was clearly there, the execution on the temperature was off.
The biggest detractor from our evening was the service. While navigating the seating area, our waitress physically pushed my arm against the chair to move past. It actually hurt, but what was most disappointing was that she didn’t even offer a brief apology or acknowledge it before moving on.
Chez Ingalls has all the ingredients for a top-tier dining experience in Annecy—the ambiance, the drinks, and the menu potential are all there. If they can refine their service etiquettes and ensure the kitchen hits requested cooking temperatures, it would easily be a 5-star spot.

Huge restaurant with indoor and covered outdoors area. A reasonable fixed price menu or à la carte options. Service was very good. You can tell the restaurant is a well oiled machine. Food came out quickly and was good - nothing exceptional in terms of taste but a reliable place to eat in Annecy.
Lana Lumi★★★★☆
Everything was great. We had the burgers and the Caesar salad, and both were really good. The staff were polite and everyone spoke English, which made the visit very pleasant. The only thing is that it was a little difficult to quickly understand some of the dishes from the menu, but overall we really enjoyed the experience.
Ruby Lin★★★★☆
Great restaurant and delicious food.
However with a humble suggestion that it might be not so appropriate to collect the leftover in front of customers. We sit right in front of the corner where waiter/ waitress collected leftover and used plates. It is difficult for us to ignore it whenever there is something dumped in front of us. Not just us stared at the pile of leftover but also customer from the other table. Hope this little advice from us would make the overall dining experience better!

Best food I had in Annecy. The lamb is wow. The trout is amazing and the entrecôte is perfect

So amazing vegan food. We got the tarte vegetarian and the vegan cheese tasted exactly like regular cheese. Even though expensive, everything tasted so amazing and was presented so beautifully. Great job!

We wandered into La Cabane hoping for a break from the endless cheese parade that France has thus offered—and miracles do exist! The service was so wonderful we half-expected them to tuck us in for a nap afterwards. The food? Solid. Duck and carrots three ways, because apparently one way of carrots just isn’t dramatic enough.
Our stomachs appreciated the cheese vacation, though I swear the fondue at the next table was silently judging us. Highly recommend if you need proof that French cuisine can survive without smothering everything in fromage.
Recommend would go again.

We enjoyed the food here, especially the octopus and the tartiflette. The staff was friendly and the place has a good vibe.

During the chiller nights, it was terrific to find a spot inside LA Cabane. The cozy table by the front window was perfect. Having Vegan options on the menue was a welcoming addition to our heavy diet while on vacation. The quinoa, red beans, pepers, purple cabbage, etc bowl was fantastic. Very filling! I'd wanted the Buddha Bowl, since I was desiring something warm. Our terrific waitress asked the chef to make an exception for me unprompted. I was grateful. I ordered the sweet potato fries on the side! Dessert was tasty too! I disnt know there was a whole cozy room upstairs too, till I went up and used the water closet. The wood branches and log slices on the walls were a wonderful decor choice that made the whole experience that much better!

Food delicious, drinks also very nice. It’s a restaurant focused on cheese/dairy dishes so expect lots of regional specialties and milk/cheese rich options. We all loved the food. Quality ingredients are used and everything is cooked and presented beautifully.

this place was spectacular. i ate inside and the ambiance was very much mountain like with wood all around and some leather too.
the derive was amazing. the waiter was smiling and polite and gave great recommendations.
i ordered the tartiflette. the portion was very generous and the flavor was out of this world. its a simple plate but the ingredients were extremely fresh.
i wish i had left some space for dessert because the options all sounded amazing. will be back!
Kirsten Millsap★★★★★
The tartiflette was really good, and the bread they brought us was chewy and fresh. I enjoyed the bruschetta that I ordered, which was quite tasty, and really loved the dressing that was on the salad greens. Lovely atmosphere, attentive, and fun server who spoke English quite well. I would love to have tried the raclette— but the day was quite warm, and it seemed a bad idea to bring a large heating element to our table— but we spoke to other diners who did have it, and they said it was fantastic. Maybe next time we visit we will try it!

Our first time trying Savoyard fondue and the experience at Le Freti was nice. We made a reservation prior so we got seated quickly. It was very nice of them to tell us that it's possible to only order 1 pax portion for 2, as we felt that it was just right for us. Everything was amaxing and the atmosphere was calm.
Bazz00★★★★★
Had dinner with some friends here. Hands down the best restaurant in all of Annecy. The fondue and the raclette were superlative, without even talking about their wine and desserts that were on a league of their own. The atmosphere was amazingly cozy. The staff is super kind and welcoming, we had the pleasure to be served by hadrien, super friendly and helpful. Explained everything about the food and suggested everything when we needed help. I hope to meet him again next time I will be back here.

Dinner for 3, service for the soul 🌿✨
Great food local fish, vegetarian risotto, and a tarte tatin that stole the show. The salad sauce had their special attention! I mean wow walnut salad dressing! But honestly? The vibe was just as good as the plates.
Shoutout to Pedro! attentive, warm, and made us feel so well received. That kind of service? Rare. And unforgettable.

We had a great time at Chez Mama Lise. The food was really lovely and beautifully presented. I had French pork chop, which was perfectly cooked. The restaurant has a lovely ambience and is just round the corner from Palais De L'Isle.

We both enjoyed the French onion soup to start. Next course, I had a chicken dish & my husband had the fillet steak. Both main dishes had excellent flavor & were super tasty. As Irish, we appreciated most the truffle mash & super sized fries! Cannot fault the food at this venue & would return!

One of the best place to enjoy the traditional delicacies of the region. Staffs were super welcoming and the service was on top notch. Place was clean and comfy. Definitely recommend this place for a good lunch/dinner while in Annecy.
My only recommendation is that they could have more choices of vegetarian options while many dishes could easily transformed into vegetarian without massive changes in recipes.

I had a wonderful experience at La Bastille à Raoul during my visit to Annecy.
The food was excellent, the atmosphere was warm and authentic, and the location along the canal made for a memorable evening. However, what truly stood out was the exceptional service provided by Eza.
As someone who does not eat pork or drink alcohol, navigating a traditional Savoyard menu can be challenging. Eza was incredibly patient, friendly, and helpful. He took the time to explain the dishes, answer all my questions, and recommend options that suited my dietary requirements. He never made me feel rushed and made the entire experience easy and enjoyable.
The lamb dish was outstanding, the chicken with Reblochon cheese was delicious, and the crème brûlée was the perfect ending to the meal. But what I will remember most is the genuine hospitality shown by Eza. Service like this transforms a meal into a memorable experience.
Thank you, Eza, for making me feel so welcome. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for authentic Savoyard cuisine and outstanding customer service.

We were surprised by how good it is considering its location in the middle of the most people traffic in Annecy. The ‘plat du jour’ a steak was very good! Be aware that for them a medium may come more like a well done. But even then the beef was not hard. Everyone is nice despite the rush hour. Also be aware if you are a couple you may not see by the canal since those seats are for 4 people.

Service was good, and Burgers were also quite okay. But the main problem is the Beef Tartar
when you order a Beef Tartar you expect some ground beef and maybe some onions on top but what arrived was a mix of beef and pesto with pine nuts. This wasnt expected and wasnt written on the menu. We would rate better if this would be clarified on the menu

I came here for lunch on Monday and loved it so much that I came back again for dinner the next day! The staff are extremely friendly, welcoming, and patient with their customers. They are also multilingual, which makes the experience even more comfortable for international visitors.
And the food is absolutely delicious. Everything I tried was excellent, beautifully prepared, and full of flavor. Such a warm, welcoming place with great service and amazing food. I would definitely come back again and highly recommend it!

Had lunch as a group of 5. Waiter was very unfriendly. First he brought us a bottle of water, while everybody around us had tab water. When I said we wanted tab water, he said he already opened the bottle and we have to take it.
Food overall was good, especially the cheese dishes, kids menu and salads. The meat (entrecote) on the other hand was terrible. Very fatty meat and served well done (instead of medium). Would not recommend and meat dishes.
When paying we pointed out that one of the dishes was wrong (entrecote instead of sirloin) he said he must have misunderstood and we had to pay what he served.

This is a cute & cozy place. We were greeted with a warm smile for dinner at 7 pm. My husband & ordered the sandwich (Pollo Hermano & Itellien).
We were both so full when we were done. The portions are big & served with side salad. The food was served less than 10 mins from the order time.
The decor with pig theme was also cute.

We went here for dinner on a Saturday. It was raining then so we opted to wait for a table to become available inside rather than sit outside. The ambience was quite good and cosy. The owner/manager was very kind and funny. Both my friend and I ordered tartines of different flavors. The quantity was enough and the salad was great. The wine was also nice. It was a quirky place and has a limited menu but I would recommend going here to try it.

5/5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Wonderful discovery in Annecy!
We ate here twice during our stay and loved it both times!
The atmosphere is super cozy and welcoming, the staff is friendly and attentive. Sandrine and other waitress was very nice with us. The Italian-style steak tartare is absolutely extraordinary — one of the best we’ve ever tasted, perfectly seasoned and super fresh.
The other dishes were delicious examples of local Savoyard cuisine, hearty and full of flavor.
A very nice place with great food, highly recommend if you’re in Annecy! We’ll definitely be back. 😊

Came to Annecy for the animation festival, and while there are many places to choose from in the immediate area, this lovely place tops them all. A great restaurant with great food and super fresh ingredients. It was a culinary masterpiece.

Our lunch was amazing! Seated promptly without a reservation (although, we just got lucky, I'd advise making a booking). The local specialty, veal's head was incredible. It was very tender and it included some pieces of tongue, cheeks and cartilage, so if you are into these interesting cuts of meat, go for it, it's incredibly delightful and filling. The other dish we had was a charcuterie board with potatoes and a miniature raclette which was also amazing. The service was very attentive and kind. Such a great experience, merci beaucoup 😁

I had lunch at The beautiful little place in Amnecy. I was seated the moment I got In and everything with the service was top-notch.
I had a combo of salad, entrée and a dessert which tasted delicious. The Caesar salad was perfect. The steak although a little chewy was decent. The recommended blueberry pie was delicious.
Definitely a good place if your looking for great food in Annecy.

We came in group of 3 and order snails and frog's legs simply to try famous french cuisine as a tourists. Waiter with blond hair told us we can't order 2 meals in group of 3 because we are seating in table for 4. The restaurant was half empty at the time and we didn't plan to feast for long. He told us he has to move us to 2 persons table which was small but fine however the third person didn't even get a fork and a knife. When we asked for carafe of water we got disgusted look. The snails arrived without 1 tool which waiter just acknowledge (other table had it) and food was placed weirdly aggressively on the table. The whole atmosphere was terrible just because we didn't want to order 3rd meal. Food itself was good but the whole experience ruined it.

We placed our order 50 minutes ago and still haven’t received our food. What makes this even more frustrating is that nearby tables who ordered after us have already been served — and they ordered the exact same dishes.
If this delay is due to a mistake on your side, why wasn’t our table prioritized? This level of service is extremely disappointing. Waiting 50 minutes with no food and no clear explanation is unacceptable.

Kir prosecco without a single bubble, rather wine or past due prosecco, expensive for poor quality. The only positive point is the location.

Called in today, 4th September. We were biking round the whole of Lake Annecy and this restaurant was 2/3 of the way back. There had been some steep hills and the ride was beginning to feel like an endurance test😧. However, Chez Cocotte was a very welcome break. Had two glasses of Blanc wine (have to say, their grande is our medium and not particularly cheap at€7 a glass), Barry had a small beer €5 and we both had a chicken salad which looked like our chicken nuggets but have to say it was very nice and plenty of it. Bill came to €55. Staff were very pleasant so glad we called in.
Toilet was clean and actually had the same patterned tiles as I have on my fireplace at home🤗.

The staff here are lovely and incredibly helpful. The food, however, does not stand up to the ratings that I saw online. I have had pinsa at many other restaurants and never once did it come out ice cold. I got the impression that the crusts were made earlier in the day or the day before, and they couldn’t even be bothered to reheat them before putting toppings on them. The toppings were creative, but considering I felt like I was eating yesterday‘s pizza, the prices were certainly too high for what was on offer. The grissini are beautiful to look at, but tasteless. I brought three kids with me and felt really bad that they were eating basically cold salami on less-than-fresh pinsa crust. I left a tip for the server because it wasn’t their fault but honestly, this place does not come close to being as good as people say. I was shocked.

Pinza is absolutely exceptional! 🤩 The ingredients are fresh and perfectly combined for a fantastic taste experience. The wine is delicious, and the service is kind, friendly, smiley, and cozy. The only minor comment is on the glasses used for digestives, as their policy is to use the same as wine glasses, which is a bit of a shame. Otherwise, we'll be back again and again! We just won't be ordering digestives. 😉

Very busy restaurant in Annecy old town.
Recommend the faux filet steak over the more expensive entrecôte. It was softer even though both were cooked à-point (medium).

Lots of cheese based dishes which people seemed to enjoy & polish off their plates 🧀 🫕
Cocktails served too.

Great, well-priced food, with very friendly staff and a lovely atmosphere. We had the steak frites & goat’s cheese salad - both delicious (my steak was cooked perfectly, and the house butter that came with it was very tasty). 👌 Would defo recommend. Worth getting there early (ish), say around 7-7.30pm, as it’s popular (rightly so) and gets busy (which adds to the lovely atmosphere).

The Pizza was very good, one of the best pizza spots in Anncey. (Not my favorite one but still very good)
The location is great, in the middle of the old city, can get very crowded and noisy so take that into account if u don't like noise.
There are a variety of choices in the menu and we all like our pizzas, so would say great.
The dough is perfect with a very nice crust.

Excellent delicious pizza. There was 4 of us. We got 3 pizzas and one of their salads and that was plenty. We all had a drink each and the bill came to under 100 euros which is very reasonable. Service was quick, friendly and helpful. Make sure you book though as it gets busy.

We had our vacation final dinner here. Followed the rule - order 3 plates per person and it was plenty. Extremely delicious, clean and multilevel flavors. Probably the best duck breast we ever had. Picked a bottle of Chardonnay with the dinner and it complemented food perfectly.

And here comes the biggest problem for any positive recommendation for this kind of place! This place is just like a local neighbourhood spot where people from the quarter come down to to have a drink or something small to eat! And the more tourists come here, the more it gets spoiled and touristy. On the other side, they deserve to get the utmost positive mentioning and recommendation!
Extremely good food and nice drinks. The white wine was good the food was excellent and I’ll post the menu from the evening. I was here with my daughter enjoying a wonderful dinner.
100% recommendation for this spot which is little bit outside of the town centre of Annecy. Go and enjoy!

This is a fabulous place and the staff were very helpful and friendly. The food quality was exceptionally high and the wine pairing suggestion was spot on. We weren’t sure about the portion sizes and the waiter helped us with it. Very great place, recommended 🤗

Visited for dinner and tried couple of sharing plates. Took about 5 plus dessert, hard to name the favorite if the roast cauliflower, tarama or trout bonbons or baos? All are worth trying. I recommend to keep space for dessert. 😋 Service is friendly and recommended us very good natural wine. Some tables inside are a bit tight, but it is balanced out by the lively atmosphere. Will be happy to return.

Absolutely lovely establishment that seems to be run by a good group of people keen to bring something different to the Annecy dining scene. It was a bit off the beaten path, (at least from the old town where many restaurants are to be found) but completely worth the visit. The food, though our small stomachs couldn’t sample a huge amount, was delicious and clearly local. The rustic atmosphere was greatly helped by the snow we received. The only thing that felt a bit strange was the proximity of the tables
in the area we were sat in - the tables for two were so close together we had to remove the entire table in order to get in or out. However, If we are ever back in Annecy you can guarantee we will return.
Tips for Dining Out with Kids in Annecy
A successful family meal in Annecy often comes down to timing and a little local knowledge. The city’s rhythm shifts dramatically between the quiet afternoon lull and the bustling evening service, especially during the summer months. Understanding how to navigate these patterns will help you avoid long waits and keep everyone in good spirits.
Book a table for the early service. Most restaurants in Annecy open for dinner between 7:00 PM and 7:30 PM. Arriving at opening time not only secures you a better table with space for a stroller, but it also means faster service before the kitchen gets busy.
Look for “formule enfant” menus. Many family-friendly spots offer a fixed children’s menu that includes a main course, a drink, and a dessert for a reasonable price. This is often better value than ordering à la carte for a child who may only eat half the plate.
Pack a lightweight, foldable stroller. The old town’s cobblestones and narrow doorways are charming but challenging for bulky prams. A compact stroller makes navigating tight entrances and storing your child’s transport much easier.
Choose the lakefront or parks for pre-dinner energy release. Let children run around the Pâquier or the Jardins de l’Europe before sitting down. A tired child is often a calmer dinner companion, and the fresh lake air helps build an appetite.
Do not skip the glacier break. Annecy is famous for its artisanal ice cream shops. If a sit-down dessert feels too long for your child, finish the main course and take a walk to a nearby glacier for a cone. It turns dessert into an adventure and keeps the evening moving.
Annecy’s culinary identity is deeply tied to its Alpine surroundings, and even the most casual family restaurant takes pride in sourcing local Reblochon cheese, lake fish, and fresh mountain produce. Dining here with children does not mean compromising on authenticity; it simply means choosing a place where the welcome is as warm as the food.
By planning your meals around your family’s natural rhythm and selecting a restaurant from the list above, you can turn dining into one of the highlights of your Annecy trip. The city’s charm is best enjoyed slowly, and there is no better way to soak it in than around a table where everyone feels at home.
