12 Best Fast Food Spots in Biarritz

Biarritz may be famous for its surf breaks, Basque charm, and grand coastal views, but its food scene has quietly become a major draw for travelers who want a quick, satisfying bite between beach sessions. While the town is home to Michelin-starred tables and traditional seafood institutions, sometimes you simply need a fast, flavorful meal that fits your schedule. The beauty of Biarritz is that even its quick-service spots carry a strong sense of place, often using local ingredients like Ossau-Iraty cheese, Bayonne ham, and freshly caught tuna.

Unlike global fast food chains, many of Biarritz’s quick restaurants focus on regional Basque recipes, French bistro classics, and international street food done with a gourmet twist. You can find everything from a perfectly crisp croque-monsieur to a loaded taco that reflects the town’s surfing culture. The pace here is relaxed, but the kitchens move fast, and you rarely have to sacrifice quality for speed. Whether you are refueling after a morning on the sand or grabbing a late-night bite, the city delivers.

This guide is designed for hungry visitors and locals alike who want to know exactly where to go for the best fast casual meals in Biarritz. We have focused on spots that balance speed, flavor, and value, all while offering something you cannot find just anywhere. You will notice that many of these places are independent, family-run, or chef-owned, which means the recipes have personality and the service is often warmer than a standard counter.

Because Biarritz is a compact, walkable city, most of these fast food spots are easy to reach from Les Halles, the Grande Plage, or the Port des Pêcheurs. Some are ideal for takeaway, while others have a few stools or a small terrace where you can watch the world go by. We have also kept dietary variety in mind, so you will find vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free friendly options mixed in with classic meat and seafood choices.

To build this list, we considered consistency, ingredient sourcing, local reputation, and the overall experience of eating there. These are not just places to grab calories; they are part of what makes Biarritz such a satisfying destination for food lovers who are short on time. Each one offers a distinct reason to stop, whether it is a signature sauce, a wood-fired oven, or a view of the Atlantic while you eat.

Below, you will find our curated selection of the best fast food spots in Biarritz, followed by practical tips to help you order like a local and avoid the common tourist pitfalls.

I had heard that it’s the best smash burger in France. There are only 2 choices of burgers on the menu: classic, or cheeseburger with bacon- no modifications.. The dudes at Nelly’s greet you in a friendly casual way. No inside seating but there are a few benches in front, anyway better to take a 5 min walk and have it in front of La grande plage. I’d have to say it’s in my top 10 favorite burgers.
Sofia Flores★★★★★
This is one of my few 5 stars. The restaurant is amazing, they have Japanese beer, amazing meat quality and the vibe is simply great. I went back a few times and I loved it every single time. Hands down to Nelly's.
Ruisko Bonetti★★★★★
Delicious and well priced smash burgers ! I ordered the bacon smash burger and it was truly amazing. The burger was perfectly cooked, with a juicy patty that had a delicious sear on the outside. The crispy bacon added a crunch, and the melted cheese tied everything together beautifully. The toasted bun was soft yet sturdy enough to hold all the flavors, and the fresh toppings provided a nice balance. It was one of the best burgers I’ve had in a long time, leaving me completely satisfied. It was also quite affordable ! Overall great experience 5 stars

This spot was recommended to me and it did not disappoint! One of the best burgers I have ever had - loved the Classique cheeseburger and the fries. Also reasonably priced ☺️ a great option for takeaway
Sara Lindgren★★★★★
Amazing burger! Perfectly thin and crispy meat, and the sauces were spot on classics: ketchup and mustard, which in my opinion is the absolute best way to enjoy a burger. It beat every burger I had on my recent trip to New York. Unfortunately I tried it on the last night of my holiday, if I’d tried it earlier, I would have eaten here every single day.

We have already eaten lunch here twice during our stay. The food is so good and the service is better! The veggie burger is delicious and the bun it and the hamburgers are served on is the best. Perfect location near grand plage. Amazing quality food and service!

Absolutely fantastic burger, possibly one of the best I've had! Tried the basque burger and it was devine. The chips with the formule meal deal were gorgeous too! Grab a burger and head down to the beach to enjoy the view 😁 It's also open at the time when all restaurants are shut between 3-6pm!

Customer service is great. Food is even better. If you want a good sandwich and fries near the beach this is the best place to go for takeaway for both lunch and dinner.

A lovely example of European charm tucked away into a quaint and welcoming setting with a delicious assortment of delicacies and drinks. The owners were working and were so kind and genuine, hand making the sandwiches and even making the hot chocolate the old fashioned way. 5/5 recommend.

I first heard about this burger spot in a Bloomberg article a few years ago, which mentioned it as one of the best burgers in France and the world (link to the article below). After finally trying it, I can confirm that it lives up to the hype. The burger is exceptional, especially considering the rapport qualité-prix ! the quality you get for the price is outstanding. The service was impressive! the staff were genuinely kind, welcoming, and cool. I absolutely recommend this place to anyone looking for an amazing burger experience!
Yura G★★★★★
After reading many positive reviews, I decided to visit this place and try their burger. The place was really crowded, but I was pleasantly surprised that I only had to wait about 10 minutes for my order. The burger turned out to be delicious. The patty was cooked medium by default—it was juicy with a nice, rich meat flavor. The sauce was in just the right amount—not too spicy, but flavorful and well-balanced. Despite the juicy patty and the sauce, the bun stayed intact and didn’t get soggy until the very last bite. This shows the quality of the ingredients and the attention to detail in preparation.
BC 74★★★★★
Really great tasty Burger's (we had a "LANDAIS" and a "Classic ") the meat was cooked perfectly + home-made crispy Chips (very tasty). The deserts are also very nice ! Had a great time tasting the food ... The staff is very nice ! On the downside the dinning place is somewhat "basic" --- but hey you can have it in takeaway 😉 .
Baron Carson★★★★★
One of the best burgers I have had in a long time!! And the house-made chips were great! Loved this place.

Genuinely one of the tastiest burgers I’ve ever eaten! The crispy edgey bits of the burger were so good I ate more than I should. Staff were also super friendly and put up with our terrible attempts at speaking French!

Very friendly and quick service. The presentation of the food is very good and the atmosphere is nice! The food itself is decent, but still a tiny bit rough around the edges. The intestines of the crevettes were not removed, some of the chips (fries) were not cooked so well and the squid tentacle was a bit dry. I am not saying the food was bad, this is critique on a high level, but this is what takes a star away for me.
Serhii Shapran★★★★★
A really great experience at Chez BB: Bistroquet Biarritz. The hot dog and monkfish tail were delicious. We also had calamari as a starter — highly recommend it 🙂 The service was excellent, and the waiters spoke English 🫶 Definitely recommend visiting! 🇺🇦

Excellent sand quick service when ordering Moules Frite. They came pretty small but don't let the size fool you, they were delicious. Soft and delicate, moules marinière we're everything we expected. This came with fries and bread. A comment on the fries, very good! Unusual size and seasoned with paprika, would definitely come back here for this dish, or try a new one! I've been coming to Biarritz a long time and there's always been a restaurant here, don't remember if it was always Chez Bibi but we recommend a visit. Don't be in a rush, enjoy the ambiance and French food!

Only restaurant that serves food after 2:30pm. Great location. Service was super nice and was helpful to find vegetarian options.

OMG this was legit the best burger I’ve ever had in my life. This restaurant was the well i encountered after a strenuous hike in the desert. Words cannot describe the immense passion that permeated my body as I ate this burger. If we could describe a work of poetry in a few sentences, we would not need to read it. If we could describe a dish in a mere review, we would not need to taste it. Even so, allow me to share my experience. I was at a school trip with my friends. As homesick ABCs, we yearned for chinese food, but the place we originally planned to eat at was entirely booked for reservations. Fate decided to bless us as we wandered into this burger shop. Exhausted, we came here with the lowest expectations. That’s when I met the burger goddess. Once SHE served us our food, half of us started sobbing out of joy. IT. WAS. SCRUMPTUOUS. When i took that first bite, i felt myself transcend to an exasperating level of fulfillment and that i could finally forgive myself of all my sins. The bun was soft and fluffy with a tinge of sweetness. The cheese was stretchy, soft, and melty. The meat felt like a perfect harmony of flavors in my mouth. I absolutely hate onions, but those were the first grilled onions i could eat. Even better, THE BATHROOM WAS BEAUTIFULLY CLEAN. Burger goddess, i fear i no longer remember your face. Perhaps your presence is so divine that the memory of a mere mortal cannot embody you. However, i will never forget the moment of pure bliss I received from that holy burger.

I just had the best Burger of my life! I ordered the Fourmidable and the combination of tastes was incredible. Absolutely delicious! The fries were spot on, the home made ice tea a delight and the service friendly and fast. Perfect experience! Thank you!
The Travelling Turtle★★★★★
I don’t say this lightly, this is the best burger I’ve ever eaten. We came across this place by accident as it was close to our hotel and it was raining. So glad we got to experience these amazing burgers, we soon found out why. Each component of the burger is carefully crafted and sourced, they make their own buns, they buy a specific local bacon, it all comes together in a perfect package. Please go and try these out, it’ll be the best you’ve ever had.
Kai Scharrmann★★★★★
Great burgers, very friendly service. The first burger place in France which I visited that didn't ask how the burgers should be grilled (but it was perfect for me, so no need). Also the first burger place I visited which followed the rule that burgers are eaten with hands, so knives and forks were handed on request only

Very good paninis. They were victims of their own success, because by 7 pm, they were out of burgers, fries, and Basque paninis. The owner, exhausted but very friendly, took the time to chat for a few moments. I didn't understand the opening hours (I misheard), but I arrived just 5 minutes before closing. I'll be back to try those famous Basque paninis! (For the goat cheese and honey paninis, a touch more honey, please 🙂 )

Tips for Enjoying Fast Food in Biarritz

A little local knowledge goes a long way when you are eating on the go in Biarritz. These practical tips will help you save money, eat at the right times, and discover the flavors that locals actually crave. Keep them in mind as you plan your food stops around the city.

1. Time Your Visit Outside Peak French Lunch Hours

Most fast food spots and casual counters in Biarritz get slammed between 12:30 p.m. and 1:45 p.m., especially in summer. If you can eat an early lunch around 11:45 a.m. or a late one after 2:00 p.m., you will face shorter lines and often get friendlier service. Dinner tends to start later here, so many quick-service places stay quiet until 7:30 p.m.

2. Ask for the Daily Special or “Plat du Jour”

Even at fast food counters, many owners offer a daily special that is not on the main menu board. It is usually cheaper and made with whatever was fresh at Les Halles that morning. Asking for the “plat du jour” or “suggestion du moment” is the easiest way to eat like a local without overpaying.

3. Embrace the Basque Ingredients

When you see options with Bayonne ham, Espelette pepper, sheep’s milk cheese, or fresh tuna, choose those over generic fillings. These regional ingredients are what make Biarritz fast food stand out from a standard burger or sandwich. A simple sandwich with Ossau-Iraty and local ham can be more memorable than a fancy burger.

4. Take It to the Beach or a Belvedere

Many of the best fast food spots have limited seating or are takeaway-only. Instead of eating on a curb, walk five minutes to the Grande Plage, the Port Vieux, or a bench along the coastal path. Biarritz is one of the few places where a takeaway box can come with a million-dollar ocean view, and it costs nothing extra.

5. Check Opening Days and Seasonal Hours

Biarritz is a seasonal town, and many small food counters close for several weeks in November or January. Others shut on Mondays or Tuesdays. Before you set your heart on a specific spot, do a quick check of its current hours. In summer, many extend their evening service, while in winter they may close by 8:00 p.m.

6. Carry a Little Cash for Small Stalls

While most established fast food restaurants accept cards, some smaller kiosks, market stalls, and beachside stands still prefer cash or have a minimum card spend. Carrying ten to fifteen euros in coins and small notes will keep you from missing out on a great crepe or empanada.

Biarritz proves that fast food does not have to mean frozen patties and flavorless fries. The city’s quick-service scene reflects its coastal location, Basque heritage, and laid-back surf culture, giving you plenty of reasons to skip the familiar global chains. Whether you are in the mood for a crispy fish sandwich, a spicy taco, or a warm slice of pizza after a long swim, there is a spot on this list that will hit the mark.

Next time you are strolling through Les Halles or walking back from the lighthouse with wet hair and sandy feet, remember that a great meal is never far away. Follow your nose, trust the local queues, and do not be afraid to ask what is fresh. In Biarritz, eating well on the go is not just possible; it is part of the experience.
