12 Best Family-Friendly Restaurants in Menton

Dining out with the family in Menton is less about finding a place that simply tolerates children and more about discovering spots that genuinely welcome them. This sun-drenched town on the French Riviera, nestled between the mountains and the Mediterranean, has a relaxed pace that naturally suits family life. While the Promenade du Soleil offers stunning views, the real magic often happens in the bustling market squares and hidden pedestrian alleyways where local families gather to share meals.

The culinary culture here is a beautiful blend of French technique, Niçoise tradition, and Italian influence, meaning there is almost always something on the menu for even the pickiest eater. From wood-fired pizzas and fresh seafood to creamy gelato and simple pasta dishes, the flavors are generally approachable yet sophisticated. Many restaurants in Menton understand that dining with children requires a bit of flexibility, whether that means providing high chairs, offering smaller portions, or simply serving food quickly enough to avoid a meltdown.

However, navigating the sheer volume of eateries, particularly in the tourist-heavy Old Town and beachfront areas, can be overwhelming. You want to avoid the trap of overpriced tourist menus that lack authenticity or places where a child’s laughter is met with a stern look. The key is finding that sweet spot where the food is high quality, the atmosphere is lively enough to mask the occasional spill, and the staff treats your little ones like honored guests rather than an inconvenience.

We have curated a selection of dining spots that balance the sophisticated palate of the Riviera with the practical needs of a family. These establishments are known for their welcoming service, efficient pacing, and menus that bridge the gap between adventurous local cuisine and familiar comfort food. Whether you are looking for a quick lunch between beach swims or a long, leisurely dinner under the stars, Menton has a table waiting for you.

Below, you will find the best family-friendly restaurants in Menton, carefully selected to ensure that both the adults and the kids leave the table happy, full, and ready to explore more of this beautiful coastal gem.

We’re travelling in Menton for the first time Came in looking for food after beach day, and omg it was seriously amazing. My sister thought this place looked like a tourist trap but we were soo surprised how amazing it was. Super recommend:) We ordered oysters and the mussels and it’s very very fresh and the server was super attentive and kind and even changed the beer for free for us since he thought it would go better with the food cold. Very very nice host, super funny and kind! Couldn’t recommend it more 🙂 🥰🥰

I lived in Menton for less than a year, but during that time, Les Enfants Terribles quickly became one of my favorite places. When I returned this summer to visit friends, there was one reservation I was genuinely looking forward to making again. Not simply because I used to live nearby, but because this restaurant had become part of my everyday life there. The dishes are consistently exceptional. Incredibly fresh, generous in flavor, and beautifully balanced. You can immediately taste the quality of the ingredients and the confidence in the kitchen. It is honest cooking, done with care. The wine list is thoughtfully curated, offering a balanced selection of both local and Mediterranean labels. It feels precise rather than overwhelming, with bottles that highlight freshness, minerality, and structure. The pricing is remarkably approachable for the quality offered, making it easy to explore and pair confidently with the menu. What truly makes this place special, however, is the people. The team does not just serve you, they welcome you as if you are stepping into their home. From the very first visit, we felt like regulars. There is a warmth here that is rare and genuine. Every time I visit Menton, this will be one of my first stops. It is more than a restaurant. It feels like a place you belong.

This charming seafood restaurant came highly recommended by the locals, and it did not disappoint. We arrived just before the doors opened at noon and were seated immediately. The owner and staff were exceptionally friendly, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere from the start. The mussels were served in a generous portion and cooked to perfection, while the oysters were impressively fresh. The fries, though not as crisp as expected, were still enjoyable. Overall, the menu offers excellent quality at very reasonable prices. The outdoor seating is particularly inviting, providing a comfortable space to relax just steps from the beach at the end of the bustling shopping district.

We came to this restaurant by accident looking for seafood whyle on Vacation in Monaco. The restaurant is with excellent atmosphere and with even more excellent service. We were served by Loïc (apologies if I have misspelled). The food was just superb. I recommend anyone a stop at this restaurant , it is worth it. We will visit again.

This is the best food I’ve had since arriving to France! We were seated quickly & the host was very friendly, even gave us a menu with translation into English. I highly recommend ordering seafood - it’s fresh & local. I thought the prices were reasonable & we received complimentary gazpacho soup. This is a dog friendly place & we had 2 sweet dogs seating next to us.

I went with friends and family 2 years in a row to this restaurant whilst on holidays and it doesn't disappoint. Personnel and owner are very friendly and available for any question you may have. Food is delicious ! 😋 You can definitely head straight to this one with closed eyes 🤩🇱🇧

Such a lucky find in Menton! If you’re tired of the usual tourist traps, go to Mont Goût. The food tastes so fresh, you can tell it’s all homemade. The best part, though, was the host. He was incredibly sweet and didn't blink when I asked about animal-free options; he just put together a vegan version of the Lebanese platter for me on the spot. It was so delicious and filling. I really appreciate it when a place actually puts effort into dietary requests instead of just offering a side salad. Super warm vibes and great prices, definitely check them out. I will be back for sure!

In a town with plenty of good Italian restaurants this Lebanese restaurant is a welcome change. The chef/owner is a gracious host serving excellent food. The food is freshly prepared, with the amount of walk in people buying take aways plus the full tables in the small seating area there is a need to prepare the foods regularly. There were two of us, at the chef's suggestion we shared a Lebanese platter, and a viande (meat) plat du jour. Each item was delicious, and there were many delicious choices between the two mains. The bottle of rosé was perfectly chilled, served in quality wine glasses. A large tour group of youngsters on a daily stipend arrived while we were eating. Our host helped explain the choices, the vegan and other options that were requested. The group all left happy with their meals. I enjoyed every morsel I ate. The food was sublime, filling but not heavy. My wife and I left very satisfied. The host is a great man serving good food at a very reasonable price.

Lady boss was so sweet and hospitable to all the customers. It's my first time in Menton and the pinsa jambon was very delicious. The cheeseburger that the girls at the next table ordered was also a good-sized portion. Overall it was a lovely dining experience and I highly recommend it. Thank you for being absolutely lovely 🌹

So good and the server was so nice 🙂 It’s a rare thing to see here in france - good service and good food. We got the spicy pinsa with jalapeños, really tasty!!

The place is not fancy and does not have a large menu but they surprised us with the quality of the food and friendly service. The chicken ceaser salad my wife had was great and so was their pizza.

What can I say… it was absolutely refreshing to eat at a place that has amazing service !! The hostess was so sweet and energetic with us. It really felt like we’ve locals here !! The pizza was as good as the service. Small details matter: She noticed that my unopened coke was sitting in the heat for too long so she came over and switched it up for me with a nice cold one without me asking ! Love it !

Lovely staff, great service, and amazing pizza! It was so delicious that I forgot to take a picture before we started eating! 🥰

totally not recommend this restaurant. The service was terrible, they were ripping off tourists, the food was mediocre, and the ambiance was just average. During our 15-day trip to the South of France, we ate at 20 restaurants, and this was the most expensive and worst experience we had. We didn't want to give a bad review; every business is struggling. But given how rude they were, we had to tell the truth. We chose this restaurant because other restaurants were crowded at lunchtime, while this one was less packed, and the Google rating seemed acceptable. Upon entering, we were the only customers seated indoors. Our group of seven was crammed into three small tables, which was extremely cramped. We asked for an extra table, but were refused. After we sat down, the waiter (pictured in photo 2) was very impatient, constantly rushing us and pressuring us to order. We wanted salad, but it wasn't on the menu. He offered to make us two small vegan mixed salads, but when we paid the bill, we found that each salad cost €23. At other restaurants, it would have cost less than €10. We ordered a cappuccino, but the bill listed it as a beef carpaccio. When we disputed the bill, the staff immediately admitted it was a mistake. However, his expression and attitude clearly indicated he was lying, trying to get away with it since we were tourists. At the end, they even gave us their shop's QR code, asking us to leave a 5-star review. We don't want to give any bad reviews, but after eating at 20 restaurants, this one clearly had a problematic attitude, and our experience was terrible. We don't recommend eating at this restaurant.

The food was some of the best tasting on our 2 week trip through Italy and France. The spaghetti with seafood is one of the bedt I have ever had. It was creamy and flavorful. My wife loved her veal dish. Even the prosecco was grest. The waiter was very friendly, funny, and attentive.

Can’t believe I finished my pasta 🍝😭🤣 I had to skip breakfast the next day because I still full lol - i mean it was yummy ! Very generous on the seafood and very friendly staff too 🙂

Actually went here because this is probably the only place in Menton that accepts Cheques Vacances Connect. But I didn’t regret coming. Foods were so fresh. Staffs were friendly even though the restaurant was packed. They let me dine in by myself. Which is sometimes rare if the restaurant is full. Thanks will come back.

We stayed in Menton for 3 nights and ate here for 2 of them. The food is really excellent, the restaurant has a nice atmosphere and they managed to find us a table (with no reservation) on both occasions. It's also great value for money. Highly recommended!

Great food and service. Popular place results in so many people, noise (table chatter) and wait staff hustling all over, results in a less than relaxed experience. But the food is definitely worth the chaotic atmosphere.

Best spegetti aglio olio i ever had. Perfect seasoning with perfect level of oil and spices. It was so yummy. The beef was great as well and the sauce was very delicious.

Had one of the best meals of my trip to the French Rivera here. Mixed grilled fish and spaghetti with oil garlic and chilis. Incredible! Great service and prices too.

The pasta was unbelievable. Especially the king prown one was so fresh and tasty. The salmon tartare was nice as well, especially combined a little bit orange flavour underneath gave this dish a fresher taste! The waiters were friendly as well

Loved our lunch. I had Spaghetti alle vongole and my husband had Scallopini Marsala. We shared a caprese appetizer. Everything was delicious and service was impeccable.
Martina Savic★★☆☆☆
Unfortunately, our experience at this restaurant was very disappointing. My friend and I ordered one large pasta to share along with a drink each. The waiter accepted our order without mentioning any issue. A few minutes later, a woman came out of the kitchen and aggressively insisted that we had to order two separate dishes. Since nobody seemed to speak English, communication was difficult and involved a lot of hand gestures rather than a clear explanation of their policy. If ordering only one dish was not allowed, the waiter should have informed us before accepting the order. What made the situation even more uncomfortable was that members of the staff stood by our table and waited until we ordered another dish. We felt pressured rather than welcomed. The food itself was okay, but nothing exceptional. Unfortunately, the unpleasant treatment from the staff overshadowed the entire meal, making it difficult to enjoy the food. Throughout our visit, we felt as though we were being looked down upon and that our presence was somehow an inconvenience. Good service can make an average meal enjoyable, but poor service can ruin it completely. Sadly, that was the case here.

It was the best dining during our 10 days trip. Linguine ai frutti di mare is one the best pasta I have ever had. The rissoto was very good too. Everybody was very satisfy with the food.

The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere, with its seaside location and beautiful view. When you’re hungry, it’s very enjoyable to watch a chef working in an open kitchen:) Unfortunately, the complimentary starters were served cold and tasted stale. The crab pasta I ordered was delicious, and I really enjoyed it. However, the mixed fried seafood platter my friend ordered did not meet our expectations. The oil tasted heavy, and the calamari and shrimp were bad. I wouldn’t recommend this dish.
Shyanne Shang★★☆☆☆
One of the most unpleasant service we’ve had in France. Food looked nothing like the pictures here - no lobster on the lobster linguine. The waiter pretty much said no to all of our requests. The waitress had a poker face like she didn’t want to be there. Over priced for the food they serve. They asked if we wanted sweet potatoes or vegetables with our main dish, and later found out it was a separate dish with a separate charge.
Candice Wong★☆☆☆☆
The food was acceptable overall, however, the small portion of sea bass was significantly overpriced (€40) for something that tasted quite average. There were three staff members during our visit. Two of them were polite and patient, but one staff member stood out for the wrong reasons. We experienced terrible treatment when paying. We were first told the card machine was not working and that we needed to pay cash. After we said we had no cash, the machine was suddenly available. Our card payment failed several times for no reason (and the machine was taken back to the kitchen area each time after failure), and only went through after we selected a higher tip amount. I am not saying this was a scam, but the process felt unclear, uncomfortable, and highly questionable. As tourists, we used Google Translate to understand the French text on the card machine, especially the tip options. That same staff member then rudely questioned why we were using Google Translate. This was unnecessary and made us feel pressured. I would not return and definitely not recommend to anyone.
Darja Jansone★★★★★
Hidden Gem in Menton, this restaurant was the only one that didn’t have queue at 8pm, so we sat there. The second we came we were covered with attention and great hospitality. We ordered fish carpaccio and fish of the day - words can’t describe how fresh everything was. Chef/Owner Carlo is always walking around and happily speaks to customers, he gets fresh delivery daily and you can just tell how much love he put in this restaurant. Such an Italian approach, super rare in France. We got so lucky with Akim and Laurentiu being so friendly and attentive and human as our waiters. Chatting and learning more about Menton and the restaurant. This restaurant changed the whole perception of Menton, this is truly high quality restaurant, it might not be fanciest looking but the food is incredible and that’s what matters at the restaurant! Also little thing that impressed us was open kitchen. The limoncello at the end…we never had such great limoncello not sugary sweet. Everything was perfect! Definitely recommend and we will come again to try Oysters. p.s. Chianti Classico was 10/10!

For the past 15 years, we have visited Le Cosy several times a year whenever we are in Menton. Originally rooted in traditional French cuisine – the classic soupe de poisson is still on the menu – it is now complemented by a selection of Italian dishes. Everything is prepared with a modern touch, always fresh and excellently executed. The wine selection is carefully curated. The delicious amuse-bouche is always a highlight and perfectly reflects the restaurant’s warm hospitality. Offers good value for money The chef clearly masters his craft, and the service has remained consistently friendly, attentive, and professional over the years. Last year, the restaurant also received a tasteful refresh: the terrace now features stylish lounge furniture with comfortable seating. For us, there is hardly anything nicer than sitting here in the sun at the end of the year, enjoying a lovely lunch. A clear recommendation

It was our last meal in Menton. Food was good. The service was rude. We ordered an entree to share and two mains. We did expect the entree to come first instead of everything coming together on the table.

Stopped here for dinner on our last night in Menton, had the mussels which were the best i had in the south of france. My wife had the beef and also loved it. Would come again

From the warm, hospitable welcome to the great coffee at the end: everything was perfect. The terrace is very cozy (with nice shady spots), the food is delicious and fresh, and even your drink is served in a fun, brightly decorated glass. You instantly want these brand-new owners to succeed. Highly recommended!

This place is an absolute vibe the moment you walk in🌺🌴Think tropical colors everywhere, playful beach-inspired decor, and some of the seats actually shaped like boats — someone clearly had a lot of fun putting this together, and it shows. The whole setup just puts you in a good mood instantly. Skipped reading the drinks menu and went straight for the Coco Loco 🥥🍹— same name as the restaurant, felt like the obvious move. Best decision of the day. It was sweet but incredibly refreshing, not the least bit cloying, with this lovely layered quality that kept every sip interesting. And visually? Absolutely stunning. Pure sunshine in a glass. For food, I ordered the lemon cream mussels🍋and they came out in the most generously sized pot — overflowing, honestly. Beautifully cooked and the flavors were bright and rich at the same time. One small note: this is probably better shared between two people alongside a few other dishes, just so you can pace yourselves and try more of the menu. Total came to €29, which for a seaside spot in Menton is genuinely great value. Oh, and the staff — genuinely some of the warmest, most enthusiastic people I’ve encountered at a restaurant in a long time. The kind of energy that makes you want to stay just a little bit longer☺️❤️ Highly recommend👍🏻And whatever you do, order the Coco Loco🫵🏻Non-negotiable🙌🏻

Initially, I left only a one-star review without any explanation because I didn’t want to let this ruin my day. However, after receiving a sarcastic and disrespectful response from the owner (I have attached a screenshot), I decided to delete that review and publicly explain why I gave one star. I came to this restaurant based on recommendations from other people. When we arrived, I politely asked where we could sit, but we were not even greeted. We were asked whether we wanted to eat or just have drinks. I replied that we wanted to start with drinks and that we might order food later. The lady who greeted us responded in a cold and annoyed tone that the tables were only for customers who were eating. She offered no explanation, showed no welcoming attitude, and simply turned around and walked away. We were left standing there, and when we said that in that case we would order food as well, we were met with the rude response: “What didn’t you understand?” At the same time, two other girls in exactly the same situation were allowed to sit down for drinks only. This made me feel that the rules were not being applied equally to all customers. If there really is a policy that tables are reserved only for customers ordering food, I have no issue with that. The problem is the way we were spoken to. A simple response such as, “We’re sorry, but at this time the tables are reserved for customers ordering food. If you’re only having drinks, we can offer you another table or kindly ask you to come back later,” would have been completely sufficient and professional. The issue is not the policy itself, but the lack of respect shown to customers. Unfortunately, the sarcastic and mocking reply to my review confirmed exactly the impression I had when I first walked into the restaurant. Instead of trying to understand a customer’s concern and responding respectfully, they chose to mock me. Had they replied politely, my original review—which was simply a one-star rating without any explanation—would probably have gone unnoticed by most people. Instead, their attitude prompted me to publicly explain what happened. I believe every customer deserves to be treated with courtesy and respect, regardless of whether they are ordering only a drink or a full meal. That is why my experience deserves one star. And, ironically, today is my birthday. I came here hoping to enjoy a nice evening and have a pleasant experience, but the attitude I received and the response I later received turned what should have been a special moment into a disappointment.

Fantastic spot right on the beach! We loved how perfectly located this place is — right on the sand and just steps away from convenient parking. It’s an ideal option for families, with a relaxed atmosphere and quick, friendly service. The food came out fast, fresh, and full of flavour. The salads are outstanding — fresh, crisp, and huge portions, perfect for sharing or enjoying as a full meal. I also tried the beef 🥩 tartare and really enjoyed it — beautifully seasoned and prepared. A great touch was the misty water cooling system, which was absolute bliss during the super hot week we had in Menton. Overall, a fantastic beachside dining experience for all ages, fresh food, generous portions, and a location that’s hard to beat.

After waiting more than 15 minutes for three cocktails, we asked if we could get our order. (We saw that everyone who arrived after us had already been served.) The old lady we spoke to made no attempt to help. At first, she said she wasn't a waitress, then told us that if we didn't like it, we could leave. So we left, and we will never go back. A few kind words from the old lady or the waiter would have solved the problem.

very cute location and atmosphere, the dishes were delicious and good quality! one thing that I would say is that the pasta was a bit cold while the zucchini one was boiling hot but otherwise everything was perfect❣️ also might be worth to make a reservation if you want to be sure to get in!

This little bistro tucked away in the old town was really, really nice. I went in the evening around 8:30pm and I waited for about 10 minutes for a table. The atmosphere is peaceful and charming and the food was delicious. The waitress spoke French, Italian and English. I will be coming back a few more times.

A beautiful place. Gorgeous courtyard terrace under the church tower. Food was excellent and great value. Staff were lovely and helpful. The fish, sea bass and salmon, were superb. Pasta ravioli was delicious and the lamb skewers super. Ate here twice in the week it was that good. Will definitely return. Highly recommended. Patrice.

We came here for lunch. I really enjoyed the gnocchi with truffle and floating island desert. Both are delicious. I advise to book ahead especially for the Meton Lemon Festival in February.

We tried Entree II last week on a holiday in Menton. We were both pleasantly impressed. The food was top quality and the presentation was really good. The lady serving us was very nice and helpful. My partner became very quickly envious of my dish choice (even though his was great too) so we decided to go again another day. Unfortunately we didn't book and couldn't get in. So obviously a very well liked, popular place and I am not surprised. I recommend it.

A quiet south west facing terrace, set back from the street and a smart modern interior. Big choice of Franco/italian foods and wines. Beer on ‘tap’. Friendly service. Dog friendly.

Tips for Dining Out with Kids in Menton

Navigating the dining scene in a foreign country with children requires a little local knowledge. While the restaurants listed above are highly accommodating, understanding the rhythm of French dining culture will significantly enhance your experience. By adjusting your schedule slightly and knowing what to ask for, you can ensure that every meal is a relaxing highlight of your trip rather than a stressful race against time.

Embrace the Early Dinner

French dinner service typically starts much later than in many other countries, often not opening until 7:00 PM or 7:30 PM. If your children are used to eating at 5:30 PM, you have two options: give them a substantial snack to tide them over, or look for brasseries and pizzerias that offer "service continu" (non-stop service). Many of the more casual spots on our list will serve food throughout the afternoon, allowing you to beat the rush and dine before the restaurant fills up with locals.

Ask for the "Menu Enfant"

While not every restaurant prints a separate kids’ menu, most are happy to provide a child-sized portion of a main dish. Don’t hesitate to ask for a "demi-portion" (half portion) of a simple dish like grilled fish, roasted chicken, or pasta. French kitchens are usually very accommodating, and this is often a better way to ensure your child eats high-quality food rather than the standard frozen chicken nuggets and fries found on some tourist menus.

Look for the Plat du Jour

For the adults, the "plat du jour" (dish of the day) is almost always the best value and the freshest option on the menu. It is usually a simple, home-style dish prepared with ingredients from the market that morning. If you are dining with kids who are adventurous eaters, ordering one plat du jour to share as a starter for the table is a great way to introduce them to authentic Mentonnais flavors without committing to a full order.

Pack Light Entertainment, Not Heavy Toys

The French dining experience is often longer and more leisurely than children are used to. While service at family-friendly places is usually efficient, it is wise to bring a small, quiet activity like a coloring book or a deck of cards. Avoid bringing tablets with loud audio, as this can disrupt the atmosphere for other diners. A simple game of "I Spy" looking out at the harbor or the colorful buildings of the Old Town usually works wonders.

Save Room for a Glace

In Menton, dessert is not just an afterthought; it is an event, especially when lemons are involved. While many restaurants offer excellent desserts, the real treat is taking a post-dinner stroll to a "glacier" (ice cream shop) for a scoop of artisanal gelato. Letting the kids choose their own flavors while walking along the beach is a perfect way to end the evening and burns off a little extra energy before bedtime.

Finding the right restaurant can transform a family vacation from a logistical challenge into a collection of cherished memories. Menton’s unique position on the border of France and Italy gives it a culinary versatility that is hard to beat. You can enjoy a refined French seafood platter while your children happily twirl spaghetti or bite into a wood-fired pizza, all within the same relaxed setting.

As you explore the winding streets and sunny terraces of this beautiful town, remember that the best meal is not just about the food on the plate, but the laughter and connection shared around the table. By choosing one of the welcoming establishments highlighted above, you are setting the stage for a stress-free and delicious adventure that the whole family will remember long after the tan lines fade.
