12 Best Halal Restaurants in Menton

Menton, the jewel of the French Riviera, is renowned for its lemon trees, pastel-colored architecture, and Mediterranean charm. Just a stone’s throw from the Italian border, this picturesque town offers a unique culinary landscape shaped by both French and Italian traditions. For Muslim travelers and locals alike, finding high-quality halal dining options in a town known for its Provençal cuisine can be a challenge, but the scene is steadily growing.

The demand for halal food in Menton has expanded beyond simple kebab shops to include diverse global cuisines. While strict halal certification is less common in small French towns than in larger cities like Paris or Marseille, many restaurants offer halal-sourced meats or completely vegetarian menus that comply with Islamic dietary laws. Understanding the local terminology and knowing where to look can transform your dining experience.

This guide focuses on establishments that either openly advertise halal meat, are owned by Muslims who ensure halal sourcing, or provide exceptional seafood and vegetarian options that are naturally permissible. It is always recommended to confirm the current halal status directly with the restaurant, as suppliers can change. Look for signage in the window or ask a staff member if the meat is "viande halal."

Beyond the religious requirement, these restaurants offer a taste of the multicultural fabric that makes Menton special. From the aromatic spices of North African couscous to the rich flavors of South Asian curries and the fresh simplicity of Mediterranean grills, there is something to satisfy every palate. The proximity to Italy also means you can find halal-friendly pasta and pizza spots that have adapted to local dietary needs.

Navigating the dining scene here requires a bit of local insight. Many of the best halal-friendly spots are located slightly away from the main tourist promenades, nestled in the winding streets of the old town or in the commercial districts frequented by residents. Venturing into these areas not only ensures better food but often provides a more authentic and budget-friendly experience.

Whether you are visiting the Jean Cocteau Museum or strolling through the lemon festival, you do not have to compromise on your dietary values. Here is a curated list of the best halal and halal-friendly restaurants in Menton that promise flavor, quality, and peace of mind.

Loved everything about this place. Whenever I'm travelling I look for new Kebab spots and somewhat consider myself a connoisseur at this point. This was one of the best kebabs I've ever had and staff were very friendly and welcoming as well. I would come back to this place every time I'm in Menton

We enjoyed a delicious Mezzé plate and baklava for dessert. Nice that they serve wine, too. Friendly service and outdoor seating.

Absolutely the best kebab on the Côte d'Azur ! We went on a Saturday afternoon and they weren't closed like most restaurants in the area and we were able to sit inside to avoid inhaling the cigar smoke outside. We liked first that the interior design is nice, not at all fast-food like, we felt like in a top restaurant and the assiette kebab was simply amazing. The meat (veal and turkey) was thin, well cooked, crispy and juicy in the same time but without any fat or skin, the salad was fresh and dressed already by them and the fries just perfect. I was craving kebab for a long time but in the area is difficult to find a good one. Oh,also the place was really clean and the staff very nice and attentive. We will be back for sure. A hidden gem in beautiful Menton. 😍 Oh and they have awesome desserts, greek beer and they know plating. 😉 Did I mention the reasonable prices? (Just 12€ that gorgeous kebab plate!)

I ordered takeaway three times from this place during my short stay in Menton. Goos kebab wrap - simple, reasonable size and meat heavy. This is honestly the best wrapped kebab I've ever experienced - the flatbread embraced the contents so tightly and effectively that it stayed on until the last bite!

We have been traveling for 5 weeks over Europe and we came back a second time for lunch due to the great food and the amazing service. The chef ludor was amazingly kind, so committed to customer service we thought he must own the place. Highly recommend.

Royal Kebab in Menton is hands down one of the best kebab spots in town! We stopped by for an early dinner, and from the moment we arrived, the staff and chef were incredibly friendly and accommodating. They went out of their way to help with my dietary restrictions, making sure my meal was gluten-free and dairy-free. Their willingness to accommodate special dietary needs made us feel truly welcome. What stood out most was their phenomenal customer service. The team was warm, attentive. And of course, the kebab itself was absolutely delicious—fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. If you’re in Menton and craving a great kebab, Royal Kebab is a must-visit. Highly recommended!

I ordered one through Uber eats from Royal kebab and has been waiting for 40 minutes then Uber showed me the message that it was delivered I came to the guys in kebab. They did for me the same order and even didn’t ask for second payment. To be honest, the food really delicious And the guys are so nice in communication communications I have no idea where Uber eats delivered my order and they have no idea how they can deliver it without pin code but anyway, I got my burgers and kebab Thanks a lot

The service was great. Opening hours and location too. But the wrap was a bit burnt and it affected the taste unfortunately. It’s fine , but far from best ones

The best French tacos I’ve had in the South of France. The staff were polite and professional. I had a taco with chicken, potatoes, cheese, bacon, and cheese sauce… it was delicious, it would have been even better if it had the BBQ on it I ordered as well. The French tacos are huge, so come hungry or you’ll be hungry by the time you eat, because there is nothing fast about this food. I waited nearly 22 mins for my food. Luckily, the taste of the taco made it worth it.
Kasia K★★★★★
Omg! Are you hungry? Do you love kebabs? This is your place! They should do some challenge "dare to eat the whole kebab"! Its like 1kg of kebab! No salad!!!! NO SALAD! £8- £10 for one + chips! And it's really good! Friedly, smiley and helpful staff too. Highly recommended 👌
Natasha NC★★★★☆
The classique burgers were trying to go for an American classic single or double. I’d say, coming from the US, it tasted very different but I wanted to give it a go anyways. The fast food options here are unique and the staff was nice. It’s very average taste (primarily from the meat patty) for the burgers.
Sascha Sammer★★★★★
Great spot for solid comfort food. Feels like they’re feeding the whole neighbourhood and everyone looks happy - well done, guys! Pro tip: There’s a nice little park with palm trees and benches right out front, which makes it a great spot to sit and eat.
Kristina★★★★★
We went there in the evening to grab some snacks and opted for a kebab and mozzarella sticks. Both were great. Even though there was some queue, the food was ready in 5-10 mins. Recommend if you want something else then pasta pr pizza.

I went with friends and family 2 years in a row to this restaurant whilst on holidays and it doesn't disappoint. Personnel and owner are very friendly and available for any question you may have. Food is delicious ! 😋 You can definitely head straight to this one with closed eyes 🤩🇱🇧

Such a lucky find in Menton! If you’re tired of the usual tourist traps, go to Mont Goût. The food tastes so fresh, you can tell it’s all homemade. The best part, though, was the host. He was incredibly sweet and didn't blink when I asked about animal-free options; he just put together a vegan version of the Lebanese platter for me on the spot. It was so delicious and filling. I really appreciate it when a place actually puts effort into dietary requests instead of just offering a side salad. Super warm vibes and great prices, definitely check them out. I will be back for sure!

One of the best meals I’ve ever had. Very fresh and delicious. Great value and service was welcoming and kind. If you’re nearby you must go!

had the BEST chicken and prawns here. everything tasted so fresh and was prepared on the spot. can tell the food is homemade! the owner is really lovely as well. so glad to find this local spot in menton.
Craig Thompson★★★★★
In a town with plenty of good Italian restaurants this Lebanese restaurant is a welcome change. The chef/owner is a gracious host serving excellent food. The food is freshly prepared, with the amount of walk in people buying take aways plus the full tables in the small seating area there is a need to prepare the foods regularly. There were two of us, at the chef's suggestion we shared a Lebanese platter, and a viande (meat) plat du jour. Each item was delicious, and there were many delicious choices between the two mains. The bottle of rosé was perfectly chilled, served in quality wine glasses. A large tour group of youngsters on a daily stipend arrived while we were eating. Our host helped explain the choices, the vegan and other options that were requested. The group all left happy with their meals. I enjoyed every morsel I ate. The food was sublime, filling but not heavy. My wife and I left very satisfied. The host is a great man serving good food at a very reasonable price.

Excellent! I had the tajine poulet aux raisin secs. Perfect mix of salty, sweet and spicy. I come here every chance I get. Delicious and fresh and the owner is wonderful and kind as well

We were looking forward to trying this Moroccan Restaurant. We have tried 2 others in Menton. Have to say, it was the worst of the 3. Mainly the service. The waiter was worse that awful. Gave us our menu and immediately wanted us to order. Said give us 5 minutes, came back in 1. Our food was mostly OK. At the end of the meal, went to pay and gave him a credit card and said that he didn't or couldn't take it. Very luckily, I had enough cash, including coins to just barely cover the menu. Only 2 tables of customers the night we went there, a rainy night. Our waiter should not be serving meals in a restaurant.
N H★★★★★
The restaurant owner is a very kind and sweet person who clearly, and rightfully, takes pride in his work. The food was amazing - we ordered several variants of tagine, all of which were delicious, and the chicken slid right off the bone. Service was great, and the restaurant/atmosphere was very warm and home-y. The owner deserves much more appreciation, he was running the establishment completely single-handedly due to his staff being unwell. We will definitely be coming again!
Suzanne Smith★★★★★
Loads of really delicious food. Couscous and Tagines. Really enjoyed it. Excellent service. Only complaint is that we had too much food! Maybe a wine cooler would help for the gorgeous Moroccan wine highly recommend if you are in Menton and looking for something other than pizza and pasta.
Roxana Radulescu★★☆☆☆
We ordered the set menu with tajine. The appetiser came quickly and it was good, so we were waiting for the mains. The waiter came and took the appetiser away to bring our mains, although we barely touched it and we paid for it. They didn't speak good English so couldn't tell them to bring that back. The mains were also ok. The lamb meat was well cooked, the sauce ok. But I've been to Morocco so I know it wasn't quite the best. Still for someone who's never tried it the raisin one was good. Then desert, whilst we ordered a set menu with orange salad, they didn't seem to understand that and were asking what desert we want. The dessert was tiny, just a few orange slices with a bit of sugar and cinnamon. Also, rather overpriced, all main were Euro 19, set menu Euro 27, and a tiny 250ml Orangina for Euro 4 - they really should add photos and the size of drinks. Hygiene wasn't that great as the waiters had couscous on their hands... Not sure if they just wanted us out more quickly as it was around their lunch break, but they are the ones who told us we could come in at the start. Overall as the main food was ok I gave a 2 star. A bit surprised as the other reviews were positive and not quite our experience.

What a great place - little bus ride from Menton (but beautiful moonlit walk back along the promenade). Small menu - but then you know its done right - wife had lamb rack with truffle pasta with pomegranite - she loved it!! I had the Angus entrecote cooked to perfection served on a warm plate (tres importante) with some great frites (maybe too many) and a local herb sauce - was brilliant. You have to try the lemon tiramasu - just glorious and of course the standard cognac and double espresso. The steak and lamb a little expensive but well worth the spoil. Hugely friendly and efficient serveuse who topped the evening with a smile.

What a great little place. We didn’t book but were fortunately early enough to get one of the few remaining tables. As the restaurant filled, there was a lovely buzz of people enjoying their evening. The service was excellent with everyone attended to by one person who remained friendly and attentive despite being on the go non stop. The food was delicious and great value. We’re hoping to squeeze another visit in during our stay but will definitely reserve a table first.

The best pita and hummus I’ve ever had! The hummus was so creamy and flavourful and it went perfectly with the warm, slightly crispy pita bread. The feta salad, chicken wrap and sweet potato fries were all delicious as well with the perfect balance of flavours.

Loved it Walked past and thought I’d try my chances as a vegan as the fist 2 places I’d selected were closed I was greeted with such warmth by the waitress or owner, she was so lovely and helpful Asked what was vegan that I could eat and she took her time and explained everything I could and couldn’t eat and adaptations As a vegan this is rare Had the 7 veg tagine and cous cous and the spicy sauce was perfect toboot! Also had the mint tea and I will be pouring my mint tea like that from now on Really enjoyed the food and service was too notch

They did not let me sit inside, only outside even though it was completely empty. Food was mid, the fries were good. Meal was 24 euro, I paid 25 and she didn't offer my 1 euro back.

Just passing and fancied something a bit different for a change. Welcomed by a very friendly girl who welcomed us and quicly took our order once we'd studied the menu. Partner went for the seam bream, I went for the Morrocan meatballs with egg, well I had to didn't I, with cous cous. The fish was cooked perfectly and the meatballs were firm but not chewy, absolutely delicous. The staff were extremely friendly and we ended up having quite a chat with the waitress. Lovely cool seating in the shade on a very hot day. Best lunch had in ages. Deffinately recomend.

We were warmly welcomed by an incredibly friendly staff member who was so helpful from the start. The food was absolutely delicious, with the apple tart being the highlight for me. Amidst the myriad Italian places in Menton, we found this in a quiet lane off the busy street. We sat outside and ordered some couscous and tajine. Really huge quantities and the hostess even offered an extra side of couscous which we returned as the original quantity itself was quite a bit to deal with. The spicy garlic sauce that was provided made up for the slight blandness of the stew. Really good service overall and very reasonably priced.

I honestly have no Idea how people had good experience at this restaurant. From personal experience stay away! Starting from the atmosphere, absolutely terrible. There was a man possibly owner/husband of the woman who was serving us. He was sitting there on his phone watching some news or god knows what with his volume turned up at 100%, poor woman was dragging chairs to set a table for some guests and dude was like chilling there and of course no one available to take our orders. After some time managed to order and food was literally disgusting. We barely touched anything. One of the dishes was served in a pan an the pan was literally dirty from what they possibly cooked previously. The handle and the sides were soaked in sauces which were not part of the dish itself. I feel sorry to leave a bad review because of the hard working woman and i guess her young daughter who were serving there and thats why i give them 4 stars for service but whem it comes to the food and calling this a restaurant its not even near. Not even near a bit. Stay away and save your money.

Dining at Casablanca in Menton was a true culinary escape to Morocco! From the moment we walked in, the aromas alone promised something special — and the food more than delivered. I ordered the lamb tagine with tangerines, and it was absolutely divine. The lamb was incredibly tender, falling apart with the slightest touch, and the sweet citrus from the tangerine added such a beautiful balance to the rich, spiced sauce. It was comforting, fragrant, and full of depth — everything you hope a tagine will be. My mom had the chicken couscous, which was equally impressive. The couscous was light and fluffy, perfectly paired with juicy, well-seasoned chicken and a generous helping of vegetables. Each bite was satisfying and soul-warming. The setting is cozy and welcoming, and the service was kind and attentive. Casablanca truly brings Moroccan warmth and flavor to the Riviera — a must-visit in Menton!

A taste of Morocco right in the middle of Menton. Cozy restaurant with friendly service. The food was of a high quality, with lots of flavors of Moroccan cuisine. Serving in both pots and pans gives just the right atmosphere. Large portions and good prices. Dishes with and without meat are served. Definitely worth a visit.
Farshad Mohammadi★★★★★
From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with such warmth by Fati, whose hospitality truly set the tone for the evening. Attentive, genuine, and effortlessly professional, she made us feel completely at home. The food, however, is what elevates this place to another level. Chef Leila is exceptional. Every dish was beautifully presented, rich in flavour, and deeply authentic. As someone who knows Moroccan cuisine well, I can confidently say this is among the very best I have ever had. The balance of spices, the depth of flavour, and the care in preparation were simply outstanding. The atmosphere ties everything together perfectly, elegant yet relaxed, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the experience. If you are looking for truly authentic Moroccan cuisine prepared with passion and served with heart, this is a must-visit. Highly recommended.

My friends and I enjoyed an incredible dinner here after spending the day in Menton. The owner/hostess/chef/staff were all wonderfully kind and welcoming and the food was absolutely fantastic. This is my third vacation in France; I’ve eaten at great spots in Paris, Lyon, Aix, and Nice, and this resto was a standout. Everything was delicious, but I especially enjoyed the beef cheek and chicken pakpak. Highly recommend.

My wife and I had a lovely dinner al fresco last night. We split a tuna tartare appetizer (which could be a meal in itself!) and then had the beef curry (perfect level of spicy) and a Mauritius upside bowl (pork, chicken, shrimp and rice with an egg). Very fresh, well-prepared and tasty dishes. The menu is on iPads and can easily be switched to a variety of languages which is convenient if your French isn’t strong. Above all, great service with the perfect amount of friendly attention. Lots of time to enjoy the meal, wine and conversation. Highly recommended

Second visit to this restaurant during our weeks stay in Menton. Would have been more if we had found it earlier ! Lovely change to the touristy menus along the main drag, pizza/pasta blah blah. Creole(Mauritius) based food, absolutely lovely. Laid back vibe, chilled music, can’t say enough about this gem of a find. With tables sat outside on the walkway me and my husband decided to sit and enjoy the sunshine with a beer, lovey friendly customer service, but the chap had to ask if we could just have a drink without food and it seemed like a bit of a mission, when the nod was given we chose one of the many vacant tables, and ordered after serving we were told min spend on card was €20 so had to order a small plate to boost the bill up… the Somosa’s served were just like the ones i get in the freezer section in costco not fresh or homemade.

Came for a late dinner during our weekend stay in Menton. By far the best meal of the trip, I'm still thinking about the pork salad we had as a starter. I opted for the pirate plate and the pork ribs were oh so tender. My partner had the mahi mahi and said it was excellent as well. I wish we had saved room for dessert because I'm sure it would have been fantastic!

I was lucky enough to dine at Indian Délices shortly after they had just reopened that month, and it was such a special experience. I went on my own and was warmly welcomed by Sharmila and a member of staff — so friendly, attentive, and genuinely kind. Sharmila’s husband, the chef (pictured), clearly pours his heart into every dish, and you can taste the care and passion in every bite. I had the dopiaza with garlic naan, and it was honestly one of the best Indian meals I’ve had in France — rich, perfectly spiced, and full of authentic flavor. Everything was beautifully presented and cooked with care. Sharmila was lovely to chat with (though she’s a bit shy about photos!) and they spoke fluent English and French, which made everything so easy and welcoming. I also believe they host events, which sounds like a fantastic way to enjoy their amazing food with friends or family. If you’re anywhere near Monaco or that side of France, do yourself a favor and stop by Indian Délices. It’s not just a meal — it’s an experience you won’t forget. I feel so lucky to have discovered this gem and can’t wait to come back!

We had lunch at Indian Delices and it was superb. Garlic Nani and paneer Tikka masala was very delicious. Chicken Tikka was also nice. Staff was polite and helpful. It was a pleasant surprise to find Indian restaurant at Menton with good vegetarian options. I will highly recommend this nice and warm place with lovely Staff. Not to miss some nice hindi songs .

The customer service was disappointing from the very beginning. The introductory comments made by the staff felt judgmental and, at times, racially insensitive, which created an uncomfortable experience. The individual- a woman and her husband- identified themselves as Sri Lankan while running an Indian restaurant and made remarks that came across as biased—particularly the statement that they do not allow sharing one dish between two people because “many Indians do that.” This felt unnecessary and inappropriate. The food did not reflect authentic Indian cuisine. While it may resemble Indian dishes visually.. The hygiene standards appeared questionable, which further impacted the overall experience. Overall, I would not recommend this place if you are looking for a genuine Indian dining experience and hospitality.

Asian food in France has been very hit or miss in my experience (mostly a miss to my palate which grew up on Northeastern U.S. and London Asian cuisines). This little place has some of the best Indian food we have had in France over the years. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in Menton and want something different.

Essential Tips for Finding Halal Food in Menton

Dining out in a new city always requires a bit of preparation, especially when adhering to specific dietary laws. While Menton is welcoming, the halal dining scene operates differently than in larger metropolitan areas. The following tips will help you navigate the local food landscape with confidence and ease, ensuring you spend less time worrying and more time enjoying your trip.

Ask for "Viande Halal" specifically.
While a restaurant might look Middle Eastern or Indian, never assume the meat is halal. Always politely ask, "Est-ce que la viande est halal?" (Is the meat halal?). Some establishments may serve non-halal meat to cater to a broader audience while still offering halal options upon request.

Look for "Certification" or "Surveillance" signs.
In France, look for logos from organizations like AVS (A Votre Service) or mosques that certify butchers and restaurants. However, many small, family-run businesses in Menton rely on trust and a verified halal supply chain rather than formal certification. A quick conversation with the owner can clarify their sourcing.

Embrace the Seafood Culture.
Menton sits directly on the Mediterranean Sea. Fish and seafood are inherently halal for most interpretations of Islamic law. Dining at a high-quality seafood restaurant is an excellent way to experience the local French Riviera cuisine without worrying about meat preparation or cross-contamination.

Beware of Alcohol in Sauces.
French and Italian cooking often incorporates wine or alcohol in reductions and sauces (like coq au vin or some pasta sauces). Even if the meat is halal, the sauce might not be. When ordering, ask if the dish contains "alcool" or "vin" to ensure it aligns with your standards.

Check for Vegetarian Options.
If you are struggling to find a restaurant with verified halal meat, look for establishments with strong vegetarian or "végétarien" menus. Dishes based on vegetables, cheese, and eggs avoid the issue of meat sourcing entirely, though you should still verify that no meat-based stocks or gelatin are used.

Menton’s unique position between France and Italy creates a dining atmosphere unlike anywhere else on the Riviera. The growing availability of halal options reflects the town’s evolving diversity and its respect for visitors from all over the world. Whether you are craving a spicy tagine, a wood-fired pizza with halal toppings, or simply a plate of freshly caught fish, you can find a spot that feels right.

As you explore the sun-drenched streets and hidden alleyways, let your curiosity guide you. The best meals are often found in the least assuming places, where the focus is on family recipes and warm hospitality. With this guide in hand, you are ready to experience the delicious side of Menton without compromising your values. Bon appétit!
