The search for the perfect cup of coffee in A Coruña is less about caffeine and more about atmosphere. In this Galician coastal city, coffee culture is intertwined with the rhythm of the ocean and the warmth of its people. Whether you are looking for a quiet corner to work or a sunny terrace to watch the world go by, the city delivers.
Unlike the fast-paced grab-and-go culture found in larger capitals, A Coruña invites you to sit down and stay a while. Here, the coffee is often accompanied by a slice of tarta de Santiago or a fresh pastry, encouraging a slower pace of life. The local baristas take pride in their craft, blending traditional Spanish roasting styles with modern specialty trends.
The neighborhoods of A Coruña each offer a distinct coffee experience. From the historic old town with its narrow, wind-sheltered streets to the bustling commercial districts near the harbor, variety is the spice of life. You can find everything from third-wave specialty shops to family-run cafeterias that have been serving locals for decades.
When selecting the best spots, one must consider more than just the bean. The quality of the milk, the texture of the foam, and the ambiance of the space are crucial. A great coffee shop here serves as a social hub, a meeting point for friends, and a sanctuary for solo visitors escaping the Atlantic breeze.
This guide focuses on establishments that consistently deliver excellence in both product and experience. We have considered the sourcing of beans, the skill of the barista, and the comfort of the seating. The goal is to help you navigate the city’s vibrant café scene with confidence.
Whether you are a digital nomad needing reliable Wi-Fi or a tourist seeking an authentic local hangout, there is a seat waiting for you. A Coruña’s coffee scene is a beautiful blend of heritage and innovation. Let’s explore the places that define the city’s love affair with the coffee bean.
Below is a curated selection of the twelve best coffee shops in A Coruña, each offering a unique reason to visit.

Highly recommend!!!! Great service, cozy environment, super affordable, quick wifi & the coffee and sweets are to-die-for! One of the best places in all of Spain, as we are big travellers and experienced many coffee shops. A coffee shop we will always return to every time we are here to visit!

We asked our local guide Fernando where the best coffee was and he took us here. He was absolutely correct. Great coffee, the best on our trip, and very friendly staff.

Magical little spot, like a time capsule to the 1920s. Really nice atmosphere, selection, and kind staff. Bonus- they allow you to enter with your dog❣️
Craig Booth★★★★★
Marvellous cafe with beautiful 30's design, interesting art on the walls, great coffee, and a Spotify playlist direct out of our 70's-90's!
Max Pardeilhan★★★★★
Simply put, the best Cafe in town.
Friendly staff, tasteful environment, great music selection playing at just the right volume to enjoy the mood while reading, studying or enjoying a chat (or a game of chess!). Can't recommend it enough, try the Carajillo!
Dr. Ashori MD★★★★★
This place is super cute. And they have a pretty large upstairs area as well. It's one of those old classic bars that you find in seville. The staff which I think is the owner is very friendly and the place is super clean. There are some cozy tables and chairs near the window with some books. The coffee is delicious, perfect espresso as you would expect in spain. They do require you to show proof of vaccination to sit inside but they also have outside seating on sundays. What I like most about it is that it's a great place you can just hang out and chat with your partner for hours. It's also close to the ocean so you can walk there for some sightseeing and there are many different bars nearby and some really good shopping as well.
Stéphanie Pons★☆☆☆☆
The worst service and management I’ve experienced in a long time. The manager’s attitude was unnecessarily rude and clearly unsuited to a hospitality setting, this lady should change job. Unfortunately, it detracted from what should have been a lovely café experience.

Small but cozy place. It was the first place we chose to visit in A Coruña and we had to come back for more. The owners are super chilled and pleasant people, seems like they are running the place with so much passion and love. All pastries we tried were amazing, my favourite - cinnamon bun,- rich, sweet, not dry! Also loved their green tea with rice.
Well done!
Kaye Lavin★★★★★
The coffee is always on point. I appreciate that they offer both beans for espresso, it makes for a more enjoyable coffee experience. The pastries are also fantastic ❤️
Cooper Miller★★★★★
The intention and quality of the food, drinks, and service was world class. A spectacular place, thank you for all the hard work to make it as good as it was.
Dimitri Leonov★★★☆☆
Maybe it’s amazing but you won’t be able to try it because there is always an endless line. There are plenty of great coffee shops in the city where you don’t need to wait 15 minutes for a cup.
Rodrigo Martinez★★★★★
Had delicious Ethiopia coffee. Every sip a different flavor. Staff is super friendly and their pastries (home-made) are extra yummy 😋

This is one of a very instagrammable cafés in my opinion in Coruña, that has a very amazing architecture as well as variety of food options, ranging from basics like toasts to burgers. Also, they have speciality coffee, which was extremely great in taste, just their normal coffee, nothing fancy, was simply beautiful. I could have gone for two more cups haha. If you really like tasting different coffees, this is a must try option here. We also liked their tea infusion, the way it was served and also the fact that it had lemongrass, which was just perfect. As a cherry on the top, they have such nice interiors for us to enjoy with friends and family and relax while we sip coffees or eat our small meals. Highly recommend!!
miriam dordea★★★★★
Delicious food with plenty of vegan/vegetarian options (bowls, burritos, cakes). The staff is very nice and the place is super pet friendly
Natalia Pujol Ruiz de la Fuente★★★★★
Lovely calm place to eat a brunch.
I recommend it, also has some space to stay without using the PC. I'll come back for sure. Bathroom also clean.
FoodBasics -★★★★☆
Really enjoyed my cortado and the tortilla. It was leaky, exactly as I prefer it. Maybe it would have been nice if it had been slightly warmer. The gofre with avocado bacon and apple compote was also really good. Not sure it needed a poached egg, however it was really good. They are dog friendly and very nice, so I can recommend.

Cool vibes. Dog friendly. Prompt and attentive service. Hot beverages were cold though. Coffee didn’t hit the spot. French toast was ok. Good for a one time visit in my opinion

TSU International★★★★☆
The coffee was genuinely excellent (I had an Americano), and they roast their beans on-site, which really shows in the quality. The ambiance is also very pleasant and makes it a nice place to relax. However, the food was mediocre, at least based on what I tried—the bun with chocolate chips (cant remember the price) and the ham and cheese sandwich (€8.50). Above all, I found the food surprisingly expensive for the quality.
FoodBasics -★★★★☆
The place is a little gem, in a white alley in A Coruña. We sadly didn’t try the coffee however the ginger and lemon infusion was good (and it came in a nice pottery container) and my iced matcha latte was of good quality! It was a bit mild, not sure if maybe the ratio matcha-milk was the best one, but it was of good quality. I would definitely recommend and if I can, go back to try their coffee!
Chris Lovatt★★★★★
If you want the best espresso this is the place to be. I cannot fault anything about it. 10/10.
Kelly McDonagh★★★★★
How have I not visited before? Having visited A Coruña many times while working on board, I am thoroughly disappointed with myself for not frequenting here on all of my visits. The coffee was utterly wonderful as was the chocolate chip bap. The environment was lovely and the service was good. I’ll be back 😊
Nurdan A.★☆☆☆☆
AWFUL coffee. Ordered an iced oat latte and cookies. I took 2 sips and couldn't drink the coffee because it was that bad! The coffee tasted extremely SOUR - I thought maybe the oat milk had gone off but my friend's coffee (normal milk) tasted the same. The cookie was delicious and it was a nice coffee shop to sit in!!! But the actual coffee tasted disgusting. Good sandwich menu too!

I spent 15 days in A Coruña and it was wonderful to find this place. Nuria was fantastic, always friendly and full of positive energy, and she does everything herself. She makes a spectacular tortilla, the best I've had in my 8 years in Spain. 100% recommended. The place is always clean and has a pleasant atmosphere. Thank you, Nuria, for your work; it was a pleasure. I'm definitely coming back!

Great experience.
I went for breakfast with my daughter because of the reviews about the tortilla... DELICIOUS 😋
I would definitely go back. Great atmosphere and the service was excellent. My daughter left very happy 💜

The tortilla was spectacular, and the Ali-Oli potatoes were wonderful. The service was top-notch; they allow pets and even give them sweet treats.

The breakfasts and tapas are spectacular. It's worth going in just for the great vibe the waitresses give off. There's live music every now and then, and they have tons of options for everyone.
The Boa Vibra tortilla is a must-try if you're in the area.
In short, top-notch service, top-notch quality, and a lot of love in everything they do. 🤍

Very friendly service.
Aroha Lago Benlloch★★★★★
I stumbled across this place with my parents on a whim, stopping for coffee in an area we don't usually frequent. It caught our eye as soon as we saw it from the outside.
The place is gorgeous, in my opinion, and everything is meticulously maintained, from the decor and background music to the service and attention to detail.
The menu has everything: breakfast options like toast, pastries, and pancakes, as well as a few other dishes or tapas for lunch. I don't usually write reviews, but this place is definitely worth a visit. I know for sure that the next time we're in this area, we'll definitely come back here 🧡
helena fdez★★★★★
The new location is just 180 meters from the old one. Although it's smaller, the current decor is much fresher and more colorful. The menu is extensive and varied, offering everything from full breakfasts (with toast and excellent pastries) to a good selection of tapas. Definitely a highly recommended option if you're in the city center.

An absolutely incredible experience! The tapas, and especially the salmon toast, are amazing. I'll definitely be back a thousand times. It's a cozy place and you can enjoy it any time of day 🥳🥰😎

Tips for Enjoying Coffee in A Coruña
To truly enjoy the café culture in A Coruña, it helps to understand the local customs and peak hours. The following tips will help you blend in with the locals and ensure you get the most out of your coffee experience in this beautiful Galician city.
- Understand the "Café con Leche" Ratio: In Spain, a café con leche is usually equal parts strong espresso and hot milk. If you prefer more milk, ask for manchado; if you prefer it stronger, request a cortado.
- Embrace the Terrace Culture: Even in the cooler months, locals love sitting outside. Many cafés provide blankets and heat lamps. Always check if a terrace has a view of the harbor or the old town before sitting inside.
- Mind the Peak Hours: Coffee shops are busiest between 10:00 AM and 12:00 PM, and again after 5:00 PM. If you plan to work on a laptop, it is best to arrive early in the morning or during the quiet afternoon siesta hours to secure a good table.
- Pair Coffee with Local Pastry: Skip the generic croissant and try a local specialty. Look for empanada (savory pie) or a slice of almond cake. Many specialty shops also offer gluten-free and vegan options that pair beautifully with a flat white.
- Check for Tostadores Locales: Many of the best shops in A Coruña roast their own beans or source them from Galician roasters. Ask the barista about the origin of the beans; they are usually passionate and happy to explain the flavor notes.
As you wander through the glass-fronted galleries of the Marina or navigate the historic Plaza de María Pita, let your senses guide you. The scent of freshly ground coffee often wafts through the streets, inviting you to take a break from your exploration.
A Coruña is a city that rewards curiosity. Stepping into one of these coffee shops offers more than just a caffeine fix; it offers a window into the daily life of the coruñeses. Whether you stay for five minutes or five hours, you are participating in a cherished local ritual.
