12 Best Cheap Hotels in Reims

Finding affordable accommodation in the heart of Champagne country doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice comfort or convenience. Reims, a city celebrated for its stunning Gothic cathedral and world-renowned wine houses, offers a surprising variety of budget-friendly stays. Whether you are passing through on a road trip or planning a weekend of tastings, there is a wallet-friendly bed waiting for you.

Many travelers assume that staying near the city center on a tight budget is impossible, but that is far from the truth. The city has adapted to the influx of backpackers, students, and savvy tourists by offering compact, efficient, and clean lodgings. From modern capsule concepts to charming family-run hotels, the lower price bracket in Reims is impressively diverse.

When searching for a cheap hotel in Reims, location is often the most significant factor in the overall value. Staying slightly outside the ring road can save you money, but you might spend the difference on public transport. Conversely, several centrally located budget hotels allow you to park the car and walk to the Cathedral, Place Drouet d’Erlon, and the major Champagne houses.

The hospitality industry here understands that travelers would rather spend their euros on vintage bubbly than on a room they will barely use. As a result, even the most affordable options prioritize a good night’s sleep with quality mattresses and blackout curtains. You can expect functional Wi-Fi, private bathrooms, and often a decent breakfast buffet to start your day.

It is also worth noting that "cheap" in Reims doesn’t necessarily mean "shabby." Many of these properties have been recently renovated to compete with higher-tier hotels. You will find contemporary decor, digital check-ins, and 24-hour reception desks in properties that cost a fraction of the price of a luxury château.

Below, we have curated a list of the best cheap hotels in Reims that balance price, location, and comfort perfectly. We have considered guest feedback, accessibility to the TGV station, and proximity to the historic center to ensure you get the best possible value.

Very hot no fan or AC although it was mentioned to have Air condition. It was 40 degrees and the room was like a furnace could not sleep the whole night. Plus the window is fully open anyone can enter at night even if you lock the door. This made us feel unsafe all night. A pathetic experience.

!!!!!!!DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!!! We arrived here earlier tonight after being on the road all day. The reception isnt manned and there are key boxes on the wall. On entering the room, we were met with an awful smell. The room was very dirty and looked like it hadn't been cleaned in such a long time. The shower was broken and the walls in the shower room were smeared. The mattress was definitely not a mattress, a mattress topper is more like it. They put two cushions on the bed, instead of pillows. There were about 20-30 black bags of rubbish right next to the rooms. Which obviously can invite rats. We quickly returned the keycard and went elsewhere. I am not a snob in anyway but this place isnt fit for purpose and should be shut down with immediate effect.

Booked this last minute as the weather had turned really nasty during a motorcycle camping trip. Rolled into the car park to be greeted by a group of 20, maybe 30 rough looking folk loitering in the car park. The balcony of the hotel was full of laundry drying (?) got stared at by everyone there, so made a U Turn and got out of there ASAP. Didn't feel safe at all. Trip.com refused a refund so I'm out of pocket £40 and had to rebook a more expensive B&B last minute. Really don't bother with this place....
Review it right★☆☆☆☆
If you are considering stopping here as a quick and cheap sleep for the night just to get your head down then DON'T! This place isn't fit for rats! The room was the most disgusting outdated box I have ever seen and it stunk of dirt. The surroundings are like beruit! Needless to say we posted the key back in the unmanned box and requested refund. I would rather sleep in the car!
Skong Mega★☆☆☆☆
Unfortunately, I won't be coming back. Your room furnishings are in such a desolate state that they are second to none. I was very glad that I was only hit on the shoulder by the falling bed frame. That could have been really bad if I had been hit on the head. But what was even worse in the end was that I told the hotel manager that this had happened, who dismissed it with the words “Oh, that's quite normal” In this sense, the hotel should close and renovate thoroughly.......... Actually I should get my money back as compensation !!!

Easy for overnight stop when travelling. Basic very cramped room. Easy to bang your head on an overhead bunk when accessing the facilities. Breakfast basic but not expensive.

Basic road side hotel. Good service.Rooms are clean and comfortable. Decent buffet continental breakfast. Very good value .

Stayed here for a night, on way back from ski trip to West Country. It was a Saturday night on the weekend before the Christmas holiday ended so expected it to be busy but it was very quiet. Had a lovely peaceful sleep in a comfy bed. Very simple hotel. All felt very safe, including leaving the car in car park. No sign of permanent guests nor smell of cigarettes. Previous reviewers may be accidentally tagging wrong hotel. Dinner options within a few hundred metres if you like fast food, city centre if Reims is 7-8 min drive and is full of good restaurants. Free on street parking after 7pm. Breakfast not worth opting for, instead there's a lovely Patisserie next door. Would recommend for a cheap, simple night's sleep on a long journey.
Graeme MacLean★★★★☆
Stayed Friday night driving to the Alps. For the very low price, it's hard to complain too much. Seconds from the autoroute and cheap fuel in the leclerc supermarket. However the room door opens to outdoors and it didn't shut properly letting in cold air and autoroute nose. The bathroom door was also difficult to close and the shower is small with a clingy curtain. The beds were actually surprisingly comfortable. Breakfast basic but suitable for getting back to driving. As long as you are only expecting a cheap bed for the night, it's totally fine, but certainly not luxury
Anya Nura★★★☆☆
Friendly staff! But all in all we had a strange experience. It’s extremely cold and the air conditioner doesn’t switch for heating. The walls are paper thin and it feels like you are sleeping in a tent outside, so it was very cold in the room to say the least. The rooms are tiny, the bathrooms are even tinier, first time I saw something like this, actually. Rooms are clean though, so probably in a warmer period of time, we’d have had a different experience…

Booking was easy and at a great price. We didn't expect too much - it's a budget hotel! The room was very basic, but clean. The shower os VERY small and it's a bit of a challenge to clean yourself, but, again, it's a budget hotel. It was perfectly adequate. The beds were amazingly comfortable. There are plenty of places to eat close by, which all offer good value. The only downside to remember is that there is no car park security - and it seems to be a dangerous area for crime. On our outbound journey, two motorbikes were stolen and, on the return, a car was smashed into. Make sure that you park near the door - which is covered by a camera. The receptionist on duty (13/14 July) was very nice and super helpful. Overall, good value for money ***
Adrian Pettitt★★★☆☆
The rooms are BASIC which would be ok if the beds were comfortable. I hate to say, the worst night stay anywhere. The pillow needed to be folded, 4 times to be remotely effective. We recieved a courtesy message on the way down, which was received in English, which was unexpected and greatly appreciated. Just please, better mattresses and a reasonable pillow. Thanks
Matthias Vanhie★☆☆☆☆
The room smells like sigarets, the smoke dedector was coverd with toilet paper. Did cleaning doesn't smell or see that? Also the douche did not close well. The water was overall on the floor. The breakfest was very pore. On the sticker (blue one above the bread)at the breakfest place it says that there are cheese and croissant from local. I didn't see any of that. For that price i don't expect mutch but this was very bad! Don't put stickers with promisses if you can not keep them
Emma Nicholls★★☆☆☆
Both nights we stayed there was a robbery of 2 motorbikes and a break in of a van. There is no secured car park and the reception isn't manned 24 hours to make sure crimes dont happen. Cctv only catches part of the car park which is a major downfall. No air con in rooms which is difficult when there's a heatwave which we experienced. Its ok to lay your head down but I wouldnt recommend stopping if you have a van with tools or motorbikes that could be stolen.

I don't often leave a bad review but frankly this was required. Initially all communication with the hotel was fine. Expedient. Helpful. Standard and positive. On arrival around 9.30pm, the hotel looked okay, its basic but I wasn't concerned. The room, however, this was completely terrible. All bedding was completely unchanged and left in the same condition as whoever slept in the room prior. Hairs, scabs, used pillow cases all still clearly in the place of the last occupants. The bed hadn't even been made. The bathroom was filthy with towels all still from the previous users. Mould and grim still all over. Thr floor was also dirty, no wipe down prior. Unfortunately since we arrived late and still had another 600km the next day, we stripped all bedding and used our own slept for 4 hours and left as soon as we felt marginally capable of driving. Honestly, in this day and age the standard we found this room was far below what iI would expect and I'd strongly advise all people considering this hotel to avoid and pay more for a more premium hotel. It should be noted that the carpark was fine but there are not gates and quite a few guests park horizontally across 3 spaces purely for no reason other than they are blind or selfish. Also, the room has a strong smell of cigarettes which is very noticeable. The only perk is that there are a few fast food outlets nearby if you're arriving late. Don't stay here, go premium, avoid my mistake

Nice and easy location. Easy check in as we didn't book previously, just on the spot. Parking is spacious and easy secure with gate. It's nice esp we have extra high space for our car and trailer. Room is clean. Thank you

In a heatwave this lovely cool room with air conditioning was great. We dined at the seafood restaurant nearly and very easy to drive into central Reims. Plenty of parking at the hotel.

Walked in and were greeted by a friendly and efficient staff member. Given directions to our rooms and our receipt which had our room code on. A six number code to enter the room, so don't lose the receipt, would be nice to have this on a small card. The room was very clean and warm. Had usb plugs next to the bed which is handy if you don't travel with a french charging plug. The bed was comfy with nice smelling linen, towels were fluffy. Plenty of standard loo paper. Light switches on the head board which were useful and well placed.

Driving back from Annecy to the UK for a night. The hotel was easy to find, secure parking, delightfully friendly staff, who checked that I had eaten on arrival and assured me that they could help if I needed to eat. Fab breakfast, comfortable bed. Great find. Well definitely use again and recommend to my friends. Thank you.

This was our second stay here. We arrived late afternoon to check in. There is plenty of secure parking and location is brilliant, very close to the Autoroute. Check in was quick and easy with excellent, friendly staff in the desk. You get give a key code for the room - no physical key or card. There is a lift but we used the stairs up to the first floor. The room was small but perfectly adequate. It had a double bed with a single bunk above, perpendicular to the main bed. Decor was modern and the room was clean. There was an en-suite shower room which was clean and towels are provided. The room had a TV and a small table. The bedside socket has USB for charging devices. There was a large window in the room which, somewhat unusually, can be fully opened. The beds are comfortable and we slept well - the room was also a nice temperature. There was no noise in the evening but we were woken when people started banging around in their rooms and corridors at 6am. We paid for breakfast which was ok - an adequate selection for the price and decent quality. When we arrived there was a large group parked up near the ground floor rooms, chatting and drinking with friends in the rooms who had the windows wide open. A lot of the rooms had shoes and clothes hanging out of the windows drying. However, it’s not a hotel you go to for the external aesthetic so not really a problem. There’s a supermarket, cinema, bowling alley and lots of restaurants within a short walk so overall a great location. For the price and the location, brilliant hotel which I’d recommend for sure.

I quite like these funky French hotels. Basic and functional but a certain style. A little worn but nothing to worry about. The outside balcony access has a new grippy floor and the bathrooms have a fairly new refit. My kettle lid was a bit dodgy but maybe that's a one off. The reception staff were polite and friendly. The restaurant gets average reviews but there are endless alternatives locally.
Zan B★☆☆☆☆
The worst place we have stayed. The room was humid and with biting insects. Sink not draining well. Impossible to rest. Massive banging noise from outside, may be some factory nearby. Sleepless night, wasted money. Back on a road without any sleep and much earlier than planned. Pay more and get a place you can breath in..
Julian Thomas★★★★☆
We booked two rooms for an overnight stay on the way to our main destination. They were basic but clean and comfortable little rooms and met our needs. We tried the restaurant too and went for the simpler options like steak and chips or omelettes and chips and the children enjoyed the desert buffet. The staff were friendly and accommodating and all in all we would consider stopping in a place like this again in the future.
Kenneth Juul Pedersen★★★☆☆
The third bed was a pull-out bed from under the double bed, so there was not much space in the room. We were given a handicap room. Unfortunately, the room smelled of sewage, probably because the room had not been used for a while. After we let the water run in the shower for a while, that seemed to remove the smell. The room was ok and adequate for a single night's stay.
Alan Howe★★★★☆
Great budget hotel situated close to Autoroute but still quiet enough for a good nights sleep. Very clean room with walk in shower. Restaurant bright and inviting with basic type value menu. Good over night stop location whilst traveling South.

Nice place and the owner is very helpful. The owner gave us a lot of information and was very welcoming. The rooms are decent and clean, and the location gives you a sense of the tranquil countryside in France. Parking is free. Some of the rooms were a little cramped, but they were fine for one person. I will definitely return to this wonderful hotel.

Incredible! Ideal place for a stopover in Reims. Well located, the place remains very quiet, with a spacious parking space included. The host is very accommodating, especially regarding check-in and check-out times, and the welcome was excellent. After a restful night, we enjoyed a delicious breakfast. With plenty of space to put down our luggage and relax after a long journey, we left feeling refreshed and delighted to have met such a friendly and welcoming host. Highly recommended!

A quiet place, yet very close to the center thanks to the tram (10 minutes). A clean room, a pleasant common room. Private parking and Ludovic to welcome us and make sure we had everything we needed. And all this for a very reasonable price. In short, you'll be very comfortable there.

Great place for just a stop over on a long drive. Super friendly service, spoke perfect English and French. Really helpful along the way and allowed us to check in early and gave us adjoining rooms with my family. Shower head wasn't working but hand shower did so no big complaints there. Bus stop right outside that can easily take you into Reims and also parking on site.

1- Rooms: Clean and cozy! The bed was comfortable had the best sleep in a while! The first day the wifi didn’t work but the young guy at the reception was really nice and assured me that they were working on it the next day it was back on and for the rest of the stay it worked perfectly. 2-Breakfast and diner: the breakfast was tasty and balanced. The diner was a surprise the prices are really good and the french chef that works there makes the most delicious meals wonderful discovery I ended up eating dinner there most days of my stay! 3- the people working there are really nice and welcoming and fun to talk to! Very basic as you would expect, but the staff were insistent that we parked our car outside the hotel grounds as the parking was full. At night there was a lot of noise including bangers going off constantly that sounded like gun shots. Overall the quality of this hotel was not very good even for a basic place it’s pretty run down I will not be using this or any other hotel from this brand in the future.

Liked . The room was clean and the shower was powerful. Secure car park once inside. The hotel is close to Aldi and McDonalds, but check opening hours. There is also a shopping Centre a short walk away with an excellent China buffet. Disliked · The welcome by the establishment and the reception. The location was not up to other Première Classe hotels we've been to. After a 12 hour drive, we arrived to be locked out of the car park. This was mid afternoon, not in the middle of the night. The entrance was also not signposted and we drove past it a few times. I rang the number on the gate, and the guy didn't understand me and hung up. (I don't expect fluency, but some basic language skills is important to welcome international visitors.) This left me very upset as I was tired. I found a pedestrian gate and managed to get to reception and get a code for the gate. The guy on reception didn't understand English, and was probably the guy who answered the phone. Please provide a code for the gate in the welcome information, with a What3Words address. Note that I took the photo of the gate later when it was darker.

Super helpful staff - I had loads of kit to unload (be aware parking spaces are limited). Room was better than I expected for the price - my mission was to find the cheapest room in the area so I was prepared for much worse - great value for money!

5? 5 stars? Why? Ok: It's the value for money. I paid 80 Euro for a family of five to sleep in a clean room in a clean hotel with a clean shower , air-conditioning, private parking with unlimited French breakfast. 50m away from McDonald's. Ok, that last addition is probably against French core values but hey. Staff is friendly and there is no need to look for the bell boy. No, but really. If you're looking for an affordable place to sleep and want your kids close to you: come here.

Premiere Classe Reims Nord - Betheny is fine if you need a budget-friendly place to stay for a night or two. The rooms are small but clean, and check-in was straightforward. However, the facilities are very basic, and some areas feel a bit worn. It’s convenient for a quick stop, but I wouldn’t recommend it for a longer stay or if you’re looking for comfort and amenities.

Great value for money, the room was perfect for our needs as a family of 4. Travelling with 2 over active toddlers is hard at the best of times but the staff that we interacted with at this place were far from doing this place any justice. We arrived after desk had closed. Called the number provided and the person answering was half asleep and said he'd be down in 2 mins, 15 mins later we waited with other late check-in guest and called again then decided to give us code to open lock box with keys. Breakfast staff probably the worst I've ever experienced, minimal food available, just didn't seem to care. Our toddler broke a glass by accident, staff was cleaning next table and just carried on and then moved to clearing another table whilst glass was all over the floor by toddlers. Another guest on another table went and said we needed help to clean glass and staff brought dustpan and brush and placed them next to table with a face like thunder. We swept up the glass ourselves whilst trying to manage 2 toddlers and broken glass everywhere. Other guests were horrified by lack of help staff offered and said to us that they were disgusted and they should have helped to clean it.

A great experience on our route from Portugal to The Netherlands. Nice room, great bed, well maintained. Friendly staff. Good price. Pets welkome. One remark: we are using a Google Chromecast to watch Netflix and Dutch tv. That's not possible, because the WiFi is automatic (not protected). You need a password. We managed by using our mobile hot-spot on one of our phones. One way to do this, but may it's easier to supply a password.

Fantastic Value, Great Amenities, and a Trainspotter’s Dream! When reviewing this stay, context is key: Reims certainly has more charming or traditional hotels, but you will not find this level of value for money anywhere else in the city. For what you pay, the experience is top-notch. Here is why I felt so comfortable and thoroughly enjoyed my stay: Incredible Location & Conveniences: The location right by the station is unbeatable. It’s an easy, short walk into the city center, surrounded by plenty of restaurants, and even the Champagne houses are reachable on foot if you don't mind a good walk. Plus, on-site parking for just €10/day made logistics seamless. Spacious Rooms with Kitchenette: The room was very spacious and equipped with a microwave, small stovetop, and fridge. Having the option to prepare light meals or chill beverages made the stay so much more convenient. The Highlight for Rail Fans: If you love trains, this is an absolute gem! You get a direct view right over the railway lines, where you can watch the high-speed TGVs zoom past on their way to Paris. Breakfast & Hospitality: The breakfast was good, the atmosphere was pleasant, and I felt comfortable and well looked after throughout my stay. Verdict: An unbeatable price-to-performance ratio. If you want a comfortable, spacious stay with practical self-catering options and effortless access to everything in Reims, this is a fantastic choice!

Brilliant rooms for the price, couldn’t believe we had our own kitchenette including a hob, full sized fridge and saucepans. Overall we had a great night’s sleep, thanks!
Kate Allan★★★★★
Perfect location with good soundproofing. We stayed on the 5th floor on the railway side and didn’t hear anything. The windows are very thick. A fan was also provided. We had a very clean spacious room and the staff were helpful. The guest laundry was a bonus for us too. Very happy with this place and would stay here again.
Loek Schoeber★★★☆☆
Perfect location and ideal to have private parking available, you have to reserve the parking in advance though! Rooms are basic but the main ‘problem’ is that ours had no airconditioning and bad ventilation, with summer temperatures around 30 degrees this makes sleep pretty hard, you have to open your windows to cool down but you are situated right next to a busy road or railway station… Prices however are friendly so eventhough it wasnt a very good sleep the price/quality is probably okay

Similar to the newer Travelodge hotels in the UK . Basic but comfortable, with a reasonable breakfast. The soundproofing was not adequate but we were surrounded by a large group of younger children who were running around shouting and knocking on doors. Overall I'd use the chain again - the staff were friendly and the room clean, bed comfortable. Also liked that you could open the window fully.

We contacted the hotel before our stay with a simple question: since we were arriving by bicycle, was there a secure place to store the bikes, or could we bring them up to the room? The first reply was already vague. We were told the hotel "could possibly keep the bikes in a room available within the hotel" and to remind them before arrival. When we asked what "possibly" actually meant, the clarification was that "the bikes are stored in our meeting room, which could be reserved during your visit, which is why I used the term 'possibly.'" In other words, the only option offered was a room that might be booked by other guests — and at no point was a guaranteed alternative proposed. When we pointed this out and simply asked whether there was a backup plan if the meeting room were unavailable, the tone shifted. Instead of reassurance, we were told that the hotel is "not obligated to keep your bikes in a reserved room... since none of them is intended to accommodate them," and that the meeting room "remains, of course, rentable by our corporate clients." We fully understand that a hotel may not have a dedicated bike room, and we acknowledge that staff did eventually confirm storage would be possible. But a guest asking a perfectly reasonable question shouldn't have to drag a clear answer out over several messages, only to be met with a reminder of what the hotel is "not obligated" to do. A straightforward "yes, we'll make sure your bikes are stored safely" — or an honest "we can't guarantee it" — would have spared everyone the back-and-forth. Cyclists considering this hotel: don't assume your bikes will be safe. Insist on a firm, written confirmation before booking.

Stay here often on our way to and from skiing in the Alps. Great tram connection into the centre of Reims and just off the motorway. Sadly the hotel is starting to showing signs of wear and tear but still excellent shower and comfy beds. Breakfast not best value, go to the Hypermarket just by the motorway entry/exit and get a croissant and coffee for half the price!

This hotel would have been basic but fine apart from the horrendous sewage smell coming from the bathroom, which made it almost unusable. On raising with reception the following morning we were informed this was an issue throughout the hotel which will be raised with the manager. I am awaiting a response on compensation as it was not a cheap price for the two star rating of this hotel. This is my second trip to a b&b hotel and both have been disappointing for different reasons. I definitely will be looking at different options in france in the future.

Good value, pity the hotel building outside and the entrance looks like an industrial unit.

Tips for Booking a Cheap Hotel in Reims

Securing a great deal requires a bit of strategy and timing, as the city’s occupancy rates fluctuate wildly depending on events and the harvest season. By understanding how the local market works, you can often unlock lower rates or added value that makes your stay even more affordable. Here are some essential tips to keep in mind when planning your budget trip to the capital of Champagne.

Travel during the off-season or midweek.
Reims is a major hub for weekend tourism and business conferences. Hotel prices often spike from Thursday to Saturday night and during the summer harvest. If your schedule is flexible, booking a stay from Sunday to Tuesday can often reduce the nightly rate by 20% to 30%.

Book a rate with a flexible cancellation policy.
Prices fluctuate frequently based on demand. It is wise to book a refundable rate early to lock in a room, then check back a week or two before your trip. If the price drops, you can cancel and rebook at the lower rate without penalty.

Look for hotels with free parking.
If you are driving through the Champagne region, parking fees can add €15 to €25 per day to your trip. Several budget hotels on the outskirts of Reims offer free private parking. You can park for free and take a short tram ride into the center, saving money on both the room and the car.

Leverage public transport.
The tram and bus system in Reims is efficient and affordable. Staying slightly outside the hyper-center near a tram line (such as the A or B lines) can save you significant money on the room rate. You can usually reach the Cathedral in under 15 minutes for just a couple of euros.

Skip the hotel breakfast.
While convenient, hotel breakfasts can cost upwards of €10 per person. In a city like Reims, you are never far from a local boulangerie. Buying a fresh croissant and a coffee at a local café will cost less and offers a more authentic French experience.

Check for city tax inclusions.
The "taxe de séjour" (tourist tax) is often not included in the advertised rate. While it is usually small, it adds up. Always check the final price breakdown to ensure you are comparing apples to apples when looking at different budget properties.

By keeping these tips in mind, you can stretch your budget further and perhaps upgrade your Champagne tasting experience. Reims is a walkable and welcoming city, and choosing the right affordable base allows you to immerse yourself in its history without the stress of an expensive hotel bill. Whether you are here for the history, the food, or the bubbles, a smart stay ensures your trip is memorable for all the right reasons.
