I had a good stay overall. The only downside was that there was no air conditioning, although there was a fan that helped. For me, it was enough to stay comfortable during the night. The room had everything I needed. It was a little cramped, but that wasn’t a problem for me.
One thing to keep in mind is the reception’s limited opening hours, so make sure your arrival time matches their schedule. In my case, it worked out perfectly, which is one of the reasons I chose this place. They were even kind enough to let me check in at around 9:00 a.m., even though the official check-in time is 5:00 p.m.
Overall, I had a pleasant stay and appreciated the staff’s flexibility.
Angelina Miats★★★★★
Great experience overall, and special thanks to Pascoalina at the reception.
She was very kind, helpful, and understanding, and made my arrival much easier. I really appreciated her attitude and support!
The room is small but cozy and clean. Be aware that there’s no elevator in the building.
Thank you again!
Rae Zyon★★★★★
A practical choice for solo travellers, offering a very clean room and a spacious, tidy bathroom. The room provides a beautiful view of the main street, although the floor has a noticeable slant due to the age of the building, which requires sleeping in the opposite direction for comfort. Be prepared to carry luggage up the stairs as there is no elevator on-site. Amenities include a television in the room, and the hotel is conveniently situated directly across from a tram station. Check in is at the main hotel further up the road.
Helen Price★★★★★
Basic facilities but location is great. Close to a good selection if restaurants and bars. Staff very nice and accommodating.
Luna★★☆☆☆
Great location, but disappointing service and room assignment
The hotel has a very convenient location, but the overall experience left a lot to be desired. They operate across three different addresses and two receptions ,only one is open 24/7 and allows luggage storage, but the address shown on Booking.com is for the one with limited hours, which caused confusion.
I stayed two nights and booked a double bed with a desk. Instead, I was given two single beds and no desk ,I had to work sitting on the floor and couldn’t sleep well. I asked to switch rooms the next morning, and was told one would be ready by 13:30 at the other reception. I came back at that time, tired and needing to work, but still had to wait until 15:00 to get the correct room. No apology, no compensation.
The location is good, but basic communication and professionalism were lacking.
Hopefully management improves their communication and room handling ,the location deserves better.

I was looking for a place to sleep for a couple of nights, not too far from Nantes and not too expensive. Unfortunately there is more than one reason why it costs less than the others. OK, it only has one star. The reception is only open a few hours a day on weekends. I checked in with the automatic terminal. There was an inconsistency, it appeared that the price for two nights was for one night only! I paid and collected the key. When I got to the room I had shivers. Very small room, without space to open luggage! Prefabricated bathroom which, due to its dimensions, is actually a cabin. There is no wardrobe, no drawers, no nothing. Fortunately the girls at the reception were very kind and tried in every way to improve my short stay. I was offered a slightly larger room, and they were very kind.

My daughter and I enjoyed our 5 night stay at Appart'City Classic. Staff were Welcoming and Helpful, from answering Emails before our visit and during our stay. Loved the Apartment, had everything we needed. Made use of the kitchenette a lot. Beds were very comfy, good shower and soft Towels. Would definitely stay there again. Thank you 😁

Our experience in the hotel was good. The rooms were clean it's little away from the town center but you have easy access via the public transport. There was no breakfast included but there is a small kitchen provided for each room where you can actually prepare something.
Andrew Gibbins★★★☆☆
Ok really, but basic. Comfy bed and good shower. Great location near town centre. Priced low, but you get what you pay for. If you expect the Ritz then this is not the place for you, but perfect for travelers that need a bed a fridge a toilet and a shower to serve as a base for your explorations.

This apartment is old and smell awful. There is also a constant noise in the room throughout the night, if you are sensitive to noise or sound, not the right option. Only good thing is close the tram station.

We were evacuated from the Gironde fires and had to drive up to our family house in Brittany in the middle of the night. We found this hotel, at 2am, the young man at the reception was very kind and gentle, friendly. We got two rooms for us 5 and a dog. The rooms were just what we needed, clean and beds were comfortable. In the morning the lady at the reception was lovely and friendly as well. Thank you everyone for everything!

I enjoyed my stay here. As a solo backpacker it was all I needed. Relatively cheap. They also let me check in quite late around 10pm. The staff member who checked me in was quite friendly and accomodating to me since I only speak English. The room was as described. Only thing is the location is a bit out of the way but not really the biggest deal.
Sara Neves Pereira★★★★☆
I had a great experience at the F1 hotel. I needed a place to stay before continuing my trip. I arrived in Nantes very late but my check in was extremely fast, I was in my room in less than 5 minutes upon my arrival. The room was clean, I had the one with a shower in it. The next morning reception came to knock on my door so I wouldn’t miss breakfast which was very appreciated.
People at the hotel were nice and courteous.
For the value and the type of hotel I was satisfied with my experience.
Blair NZ★★☆☆☆
Nice modern, clean facilities. Unfortunately there was no fans or aircon in my bedroom and it was over 31c - too hot to sleep. Additionally, there were hygiene issues. I couldn't find a wash bowls or way to sanitize my hands after using their toilets.
Fabio Verazza★★★☆☆
It is one of a kind of an experience staying here for a night for us and nothing more to elaborate. The breakfast is just basic bread and butter/ jam, hot beverages and some juices.
It is a place considered not suitable for a couple and families with young children considering the common bathrooms. It is more for truck drivers or budget travellers who needed a room to rest while being on the go.
2 stars were given 1 for a friendly front desk staff and another 1 for being next to a good bar to spend the evening at. Other than that, compliments for free parking.

Wow, fantastic welcome at reception, In the middle of a heatwave gripping the country of France, nothing was too much trouble, the staff made the holiday so much more enjoyable. It was clean, nothing broken, the room the right size and the price excellent for the location, no noise from the streets below, and a secure place for our bikes. It's hard to improve on perfection but these ladies strive to maintain an excellent standard and a team that french hospitality can be proud of. Thank you
Micah Copeland★★★★☆
We had a great stay here, loving having so many food and fun options within walking distance from us. The breakfast was well worth the about 12 euros each day, and the hotel provided hair care in the shower was a lifesaver. We also had little trouble getting from the train station to the hotel, via car, rideshare, or tram. There is no top sheet on the bed, if you're a pro-top sheet person. The desk portion was not the most sturdy, so be careful of that!
Simon Ingram★★★☆☆
We stayed at this B&B due to the location being in the centre of Nantes so we could enjoy an evening in the old city. The location was ideal and the underground parking was a very positive feature but it was extremely difficult to access the parking in a large car. The room was very poorly decorated with wood chip wall paper and a vinyl foor with a photographic print of carpet! on our return in the evening an intruder followed us into the hotel and the lack of a concierge or reception desk made the hotel feel very vulnerable and my kids were scared. I emailed BnB but recieved no response until days later - there was no sign of any security. The beds were very comfortable with clean sheets but the air-conditioning unit was very noisy.
Hugo AM★☆☆☆☆
I got there at 2pm which is probably the busiest time of the day because this is the initial check in hour and, as expected, there were 4 customers trying to get in. It is absolutely unacceptable that there is no one physically present in the front desk at what is probably the busiest time in this particular establishment. We tried using the automatic room machine and it did not work whatsoever, it said "out of service". I pushed the help button and it took more than 10 minutes for me to obtain a response. The person on the other line (no offense to him as he is just a humble remote worker probably from India) was extremely unhelpful and just told me to "wait 5 minutes and try again" then he hung up. I tried to obtain the access code via email and SMS with no avail, I got it around 30 minutes after 2 pm which I find very annoying as I would like to use this time to walk around and enjoy the city.
If you plan to come here please find a way to get your access code earlier or ensure that there is someone physically available in the front desk at the time you arrive so you don't waste your time on malfunctioning machines as we did.
Regarding the rooms and location the hotel is excellent: adequate pricing, clean rooms and quiet neighborhood.
Michelle Tobin★★☆☆☆
Tiny room, tiny bathroom, rubbish on balcony outside window. Overlooking tram line and so so noisy. And then an early morning glass bottle collection to make sure I had absolutely no sleep. Street and tram noise makes relaxing impossible, not to mind sleep. Shower temperature dreadfully inconsistent going warm/cold/hot/warm. Dark pubic hair in the shower. Thermostat is a decoration, doesn't impact temperature. Room is so uncomfortably hot and I can't open the window due to the noise.
Final point, did they take directions on "centre" from Ryanair? Far from central!

Our room was robbed, including six on the top floor and more on the bottom floors. When we got back from the festival just a couple weeks ago. We went back into our hotel room only to notice our belongings turned upside down. Backpacks suitcases, all thrown everywhere. All our stuff scattered everywhere. Very valuable belongings were stolen, including electronics, jewelry, and many other stuff that we will never reunite with. Among talking to the other people in the other units, they went through the same thing. There is a camera above that should have gotten all of it, but according to hotel staff and the manager, we have to make a police report before they can view the footage. Which is ridiculous because this is their establishment and they are the one that should have filed the police report. To get into these rooms you need a key card, how they got into all of these rooms by just using break in tools doesn’t sound right. This was obviously an inside job from the hotel, staff and or manager. The staff and the manager was not helpful on getting the police report started, it was pretty obvious that they were in on it. I’m telling all of you that read this, stay clear away from this place.

Reception covers 2 hotels, confusing for a non native, had to be told where to go...
21:50hrs. Bar closed? Errrr
Due to lack of bars in the area ( lack of everything to be honest!)
An early closing bar and restaurant is pretty bad, especially when even the night porter would not serve drinks.....

I understand that this hotel is supposed to be a low cost hotel, but the room we've been in was like a dungeon, no sunlight was getting into the room so it smelled bad, and there was only a very small window which you can barely open to get some fresh air. The hotel is in a desolate area with a huge supermarket nearby. It shares the area, including the reception with a Campanile hotel, part of the same chain of hotels.
The room was awfully small and dull, and the bed lights didn't work, so it was dark too. With no AC installed, I wonder how you can survive in the room when it's hot outside.
The breakfast buffet was very limited, and refills failed, so you grabbed what was available
On the positive side, it's near the Navibus N1 ferry takes you to tram to the centre of Nantes for only € 1,80 (one hour ticket)

you get what you pay for. we stayed here for one night and spent as little time possible. the location was quite good and on weekends boats and buses and free in nantes. The room was around a 6min walk to the boat station. We had three people sleeping here, the top bunk was very close to the ceiling that you could not sit up, giving you neck pain and difficulty to even get up. This being said the double bed below is very large that all three of us managed to sleep in the same bed. The toilet was fine but very very small. No kettle or amenities but does come with toilet roll. Our room stank very badly of cigarettes as there was a cigarette butt holder outside and stains from previous people having smoked in the room. It was very grim. We only stayed for around 7hours only to sleep and got an uber to the airport the next morning at around £15 which was fine. At the end of the day it’s a room and you get what you pay for. It was fine except the smell, location good but wouldn’t recommend for younger children. You could probably get a proper airport hotel for a similar price too.
Evangelos Botsaris★★☆☆☆
With the same money you can book a much better room at the airport hotel if you want to spend the night. The room is big enough for one person, but there is no heating and dirtiness… there is a 24/7 reception which is pretty good. You can have breakfast for 5,9€ per adult. The distance from the airport is 1 h and 11 minutes on foot or 13 minutes by the Bolt application and 12,3€.
Ul. Rich★☆☆☆☆
The Location is near the airport. And the River is in waking distance, there you could catch a ferry to the city center or stay there and go into a restaurant or bar on the riverside.
The rooms are very tiny! I got a room with bunk bed + another bed. No picture on the internet. I booked a single room. Bathroom is super tiny. It is like in a campervan. You have to take a step up and the toilet and shower is almost the same.
When you turn off the light, there are small lights to find the switch, unfortunately it is way to bright to find sleep.
Breakfast was available, but even the staff recommended us to go to the breakfast of the hotel next door (both were in one building). This was the best part of the whole stay.
The wifi was unfortunately broken. The information was only given after asking, just like all the other information.
Rauno Jalandi★★☆☆☆
It's fine for a one star place, but the breakfast could be improved. Bread and jam doth not a breakfast make. Rooms were tiny but great, and the beds were super comfortable. The waterfront in thw vicinity was a great place to go and grab a beer.

Hotel is average for a tight budged, surely hotel and room internet pictures are probably from 10 or more years old, inside walls door are dirty and clean need to be hugely improved, the laundry area is useful although super dirty washing machines and soap never came out as explained that was included in the payment. Breakfast not worth the price, is better to buy your own food.

The location is prime as it is right in front of Longchamp tram stop. Very accessible.

Very nice and special place. Has everything you need - comfortable bed, lots of pillows, bathroom, desk, helpful personnel - but no glamorous luxury around. Triple room is what we needed and not available in many hotels. Our room was to the street so there was a little noise from the tram. Tram stop was right in front which makes the hotel very easy to reach.

A small independent hotel and pleasant lieu de vie. I had a warm welcome, staff were friendly and staying here felt like being part of a small community. Very convenient for the tram to the city and supermarket close by. I had a great ground floor room with large bathroom and comfortable double bed. Breakfast granola was delicious!

Such a great experience for a 5-night stay. The team is super attentive.
The 'no-frills' room has all you need to have a comfortable night. If you need to work or relax, the common space area downstairs has plenty to offer and is always open for hotel guests.
The breakfast looks excellent with local products, the pizzas are amazing... they always full for lunch & dinner.
Finally, the small shop downstairs p selling fresh-baked cookies, lunch sandwiches and wine is the perfect addition to a great experience all around.
Location is perfect, with a tram stop right in front of the hotel.

Be careful when you arrive. When there is a man at the reception: RUN he is a real scam artist, first he could not find our booking and made us book and pay again, later he tried to charge us city tax AGAIN. When the woman is at the reception you are okay. She is really nice and helpful
Bebe Ratm★★★☆☆
Placed in a quiet area with most of the amenities around. The receptionist was a friendly and helpful person.
The BIG DOWSIDE is that they don't have air con in the rooms and only a small fan that barely spread air. When i asked about this problem they stated that in Nantes most ( if not all) accommodations don't have air con.
I'm definitely not gonna choose this accommodation in the future in the summertime.
Sonali Mukherjee★★★★☆
The location is fine, close to the tram stop and the bus 80, however the bus doesn't function on Sundays so the tram is the only option. The twin sharing room is pretty big with decently sized beds, although the bathroom is a little small, it does the work. The cooking space is adequate. The neighbourhood is very quiet, but there are no sights in the vicinity other than the river
Georgia May★★★★☆
This hotel is a way out of the city centre. It was easy to reach the centre by tram though, but would be a bit too far to walk. Reception isn't available 24hours so when we arrived we waited nearly an hour until we could access our room as there were no clear instructions on what to do - you need to call them as soon as you arrive and they will help you aceess your key. The rooms were nice, just freezing if you didn't have the heater on full blast (visited in April). The shower was also tiny and not very practical. Despite this, the rooms were modern and came with a TV as well as a table, chairs and mini kitchen. In the entrance way, there is also a vending machine with drinks and snacks. Overall, and for the price, I can't really complain about our stay.

The hotel is in a good position for visiting the city, but that's not enough.
The only parking in the area is all paid. It's ok for one day but not more (it wouldn't be bad to have a deal for hotel guests).
The hair dryer didn't work and neither the socket in the bathroom to use your own.
The bathtub is dangerously slippery and the sink and tub drains don't work properly.
We sleeping on a terrible sofa bed, with loud music until 3am (the bed was vibrating!).
Appreciate the coffee pods in the room and the water erogater column in the lobby.
Sara Batocco★☆☆☆☆
Would absolutely not recommend this place. Staff was EXTREMELY rude and unhelpful. The room was never cleaned and there was only one roll of toilet paper for 4 people. When I asked for more, they rolled their eyes at me and only gave me 1 more roll... for 4 people... to share for 4 days...
I typically do not expect people to speak multiple languages, however in a hotel I would expect some language skills or at least some kindness to communicate with people who don't speak your language. I am not English but I tried asking if they spoke English as I speak very little French. They did not even bother to reply to my question and kept talking to me in French in a rude tone and with lots of attitude.
When checking out, we asked if we could leave the bags there for 30 mins - they didn't bother to explain where to leave the bags until they saw we weren't leaving and were confused. They told us to leave the bags in the bag area ourselves and then were told off when we tried to get them back.
Horrible experience and horrible people.

I don’t recommend staying here. First the good: the staff was kind and helpful when I had a problem.
I had to move to 3 rooms in 5 days. The first room smelled like an explosion of perfume. The second room was across the street from a club with loud music till 5AM and drunk people fighting (ear plugs were not enough!). The third room was a suite on the top floor and was amazing.
I told a local I was staying here and he laughed. He said Boufay is the worst part of Nantes. He was correct! Lots of homeless people and people on drugs and up to no good. Nantes has a lot of cool charming neighborhoods but this is not one of them!
If you must stay here, skip the breakfast. For the price, it’s not good quality. I would rather go to a Boulangerie.
Jo Leverett★★★★☆
My friend and I stayed here for 2 nights april 2025. The reception staff were brilliant and allowed us to store our luggage from 9.300am til check-in at 3 and then again on the day we left from 11am til 5.30.
The hotel and room was spotless and pretty. Our room had a kitchenette that was equipped with absolutely everything you might need and there was a coffee maker too. The extra pillows were bliss. There was some noise from the street below in the evening but as soon as the window was pulled to you couldn't hear it at all. Earplugs were provided but not needed.
The hotel is situated right in the centre and very close many restaurants and sights and to the trams. I would 100% stay here again. We had a lovely time.
Tips for Booking Cheap Hotels in Nantes
Finding a cheap hotel is only half the battle; securing the best value requires a smart booking strategy. The following tips will help you avoid common pitfalls and maximize your savings while ensuring a comfortable stay in Nantes.
Book midweek when possible. Nantes is a major business and university city, meaning hotel prices often spike from Monday to Wednesday. Weekend rates, especially Saturday and Sunday nights, frequently drop significantly as business travelers leave. If your schedule is flexible, plan your stay over a weekend to access lower rates at hotels that would otherwise stretch your budget.
Use the tram system to your advantage. Hotels located slightly outside the hyper-center but near tram lines 1, 2, or 3 can be dramatically cheaper than those directly on Place Royale or Place du Commerce. Nantes has one of France’s most efficient public transport networks, and a short five-minute tram ride can save you thirty to fifty euros per night.
Check for breakfast exclusions. Many budget hotels in Nantes advertise low room rates but charge separately for breakfast, which can add ten to fifteen euros per person daily. Before booking, compare the total cost including breakfast against nearby cafés. Often, grabbing a croissant and coffee at a local boulangerie is cheaper and more authentic.
Look beyond Booking.com and Airbnb. While large platforms are convenient, some independent budget hotels in Nantes offer lower rates when booking directly through their own websites or by phone. Direct bookings sometimes include perks like free cancellation, late checkout, or complimentary breakfast that third-party sites do not offer.
Watch for event-driven price surges. Nantes hosts major events like La Folle Journée music festival in January and Le Voyage à Nantes throughout the summer. During these periods, even budget hotels raise prices substantially. If your visit coincides with a major event, book at least six to eight weeks in advance to lock in reasonable rates.
Consider aparthotels for longer stays. If you plan to stay three nights or more, aparthotels and residence-style accommodations often work out cheaper than traditional hotels. Having a small kitchenette allows you to prepare simple meals, saving significantly on restaurant costs while still enjoying Nantes’ excellent markets and food shops.
Nantes rewards travelers who plan thoughtfully, and choosing the right affordable hotel sets the tone for an enjoyable visit. By staying slightly outside the tourist core, traveling midweek, or booking directly with properties, you can allocate more of your budget toward experiences rather than a place to sleep.
The city’s compact size and excellent tram network mean you are never far from the action, even when staying in a quieter neighborhood. With the right approach, your trip to Nantes can be both memorable and financially comfortable.
