12 Best Asian Restaurants in Strasbourg

Strasbourg’s dining scene is often defined by its winstubs, tarte flambée, and choucroute, but beneath the timber-framed facades of Petite France lies a surprisingly dynamic Asian food landscape. Over the last decade, the city has evolved from offering generic pan-Asian buffets to hosting specialized kitchens that honor the distinct culinary traditions of Japan, China, Vietnam, Korea, and Thailand.

For locals and travelers alike, the search for authenticity can be difficult when navigating the busy streets around Place Kléber or the university district. Whether you are craving the delicate precision of sushi, the fiery heat of Sichuan peppercorns, or the comforting warmth of a slow-brewed Pho, the Alsatian capital has a table waiting for you.

This guide is designed to cut through the noise and point you toward the most reliable and beloved Asian establishments in the city. We have evaluated these restaurants based on the quality of their ingredients, the consistency of their service, and their ability to transport your taste buds far beyond the banks of the Ill river.

From hidden ramen bars that require a wait to family-run bistros serving recipes passed down through generations, the variety is impressive. You will find that many of these chefs have adapted their menus slightly to suit local European palates while maintaining the soul of their native cuisines.

Whether you are a student looking for a quick, budget-friendly bowl of noodles or a couple seeking an elegant evening of omakase, there is an option for every occasion. The following selection represents the very best of what Strasbourg has to offer for lovers of Asian gastronomy.

Let’s dive into the must-visit spots that define the city’s international culinary edge.

We decided to have dinner here as it had very good reviews and high rating on google maps, and it definitely lived up to the expectations! The interiors were decorated well and the people were so nice, at first it seemed like all the tables were reserved as it was super busy but they accommodated us very kindly. The menu was very extensive and we had a tough time choosing what to order as everything looked delicious!! The staff were so friendly that they offered they could make every dish vegan with tofu! We decided to have some fried and steamed momos as starters which were so delicious perfect for sharing! We further ordered their speciality thali (combo meals), veggie stir fry with rice and thai curry with tofu and rice. Everything was presented very well and portions were generous. Everything tasted soooo amazing and absolutely delicious! I would absolutely recommend! And if I’m in Strasbourg again would visit them again 🙂
Jeremy Barrows★★★★★
So more of a Asian fusion restaurant than a Thai restaurant. But oh my gosh how incredible this food is the flavor is just explode. I feel like Remy in Ratatouille! My wife’s wine was delicious and my cocktail was incredible. Absolutely recommend this place. I can’t wait to come back here again!
SD Z★★★★★
A lovely restaurant at a walking distance from the cathedral. Their momos are to die for. The Tibetan momos with spicy chutney was delicious - not for the faint hearted though. Thai style chicken and Bo bun were delicious - spicy on demand. We were so full that we couldn't taste their desserts.
O. Procopiuc★★★★★
Some unique flavors in the sauces. I know the momos are popular but I personally wasn't a fan. But the other dishes we tried (sherpa, mongole) were outstanding.
Marius Heinevetter★★★★★
Insane good food 🎉 Fast! (15-20 min for three menus + sushi), the staff is friendly and speaks very good English. They gave us very good tips for the surrounding area and nearby sights. Reserve a table via Google!!👍🏻

So good! The bo bun was fresh and delicious. The cut spring rolls added an unbelievable crunch that made the whole dish much better. Best Viet food in all of France! Workers nice, attentive and willing to help.
Chloe Gandal★★★★★
Excellent option in central Strasbourg! Everything we ordered was very fresh - we got the mixed beef noodle soup (similar to pho) and the broth was excellent and flavorful. The chicken nems were also excellent! One note - if you plan to pay with credit card, the minimum is 30€!

Tne restaurant is nice, clean and well decorated. The service is very welcoming. Most importantly, the food is amazing. My friend and I went twice during our visit in Strasbourg.
Viktoria Zigmundova★★★★★
Great quality authentic Thai food. Mango sticky rice was our favourite. It tasted exactly like the one we tried in Thailand. We also loved Bo Bun with tofu. They have vegetarian options. The staff was so nice that they made vegan version of Pad Thai for us with no egg. There is calm atmosphere. We rocomend!
Saskia Vallendar★★★★★
Oh we loooooved this place!!! The staff were just soooo lovely and friendly. The food: phenomenal! I’ve lived in Asia for many years and must say that the food here is really authentic. My friend and I shared some fresh spring rolls, a spicy papaya salad and mango sticky rice. I don’t have photos of those dishes as we were too quick to devour them immediately. We each had a Pho noodle soup which was just like the ones I used to eat in Vietnam. Each dish was excellent! We really ate a lot because we were super excited about having Asian food and we managed to finish it all because it was just delicious. 100% recommend this place and will definitely come back!

The restaurant has a spacious atmosphere and is decorated with strong Asian influences. The food was delicious and served very quickly. As for the desserts, there was nothing special—I wouldn't recommend them.
EA★★★★★
This restaurant truly deserves its high rating. The interior is beautifully designed, creating a pleasant atmosphere. The dishes are delicious, though the menu offers a limited selection. The service is excellent, with professional and attentive waitstaff, and the prices are reasonable. However, the floral tea wasn’t particularly flavorful, and the cups could be slightly larger for convenience. Despite this, I would definitely visit again.

We ordered baozi for some take out on a Wednesday night. We tried the traditional pork buns (#1) and the ones with carrot (#2). They were all warm and delicious. The filling was tasty! Great spot. We also picked up some fantas while we were there.

GREAT BAOZI! Definitely order a few, when you’re around. Good service, a nice gentleman! He works very hard. We ordered 9/10 different flavors and each one was different from the last and good in their own way! Fills you up without feeling sluggish and right in the center. All were warm when they arrived and good steamed through. Meat and vegetarian options. Would return if I’m in the area! You should too!

As I Chinese I can say it was really good. My kids also loved it. Perfect for a fast and healthy bite. The dought was perfect, same as how my mother makes bao zi. Also quick and excellent service!
LC★★★★★
A place with a great variety of delicious baozi both with meat and vegetarian. They are all very very delicious. They also have some sweets but we didn’t try them. The girl who served us was very very nice and friendly and speaks gladly English. Unfortunately the place is pretty small with only three tables inside. When the weather is good is possible to seat outside. Very recommended!
Iceman★★★★★
Delicious, quick, clean, friendly service, & a unique place. Great vegan options with the 4 pack to try all the vegan buns. Would recommend it and will be going back. 😊

Today we had one of the best Chinese dinners in many years. The restaurant had an unassuming name “Huntun et Mian” - a transliteration from the name of a Chinese street food Wanton Mee, or dumplings and noodles. The food turned out to be anything but simple. Each dish was cooked without additives. The restaurant owner even has farms growing specific ingredients; so it was a partial farm to table experience and changes the menu to match seasonal availability. We had three menus. A 5 course vegetarian, a 5 course discovery and two 7 course banquet menu for our family of 4. The vegetarian could have passed for meat but did not contain any. The meat dishes did not contain any additives and were tasty and wholesome. Take for example the braised meatball. It was handmade from coarsely chopped pork, simmered for several hours and served with a lovingly made stock without any thickeners. This tender loving care came through in its purity of flavours. The wanton mee was served in a soup base of soya sauce was cooked from different meats and was nice enough to drink. On arrival, one could immediately smell both the soup base and delicate soya sauce which merged with the aroma of the soya sauce chicken. The noodles were also made inhouse and soaked up the soya sauce stock and paired beautifully with the soya sauce chicken strands. A special mention should be made of the vegetarian version which used a mushroom soy base and tofu braised tofu. My daughter loved it and even a carnivorous me is tempted to go vegetarian for my next visit. But, my favorite dish of the night must have been the patty made of cod and prawns, enclosed with fine lotus roots and then steamed in a very light house soya sauce stock with ginger garnish. The result was sublime. The desserts were also truly inspired. The vegetarian menu comes with a very nice white fungus soup that has been lovingly reduced to a thick viscosity but somehow remains light and refreshing. The non-vegetarian dinner was a reinterpretation of an old favorite of mine - yam paste. But this one had bananas, crispy eggs, pear topped with coconut mouse. Absolutely yummy. A final word on pairings. We have had too much wine this trip and I chose a lager to start with. It was excellent. However, during conversations with the boss, we found that he had some special teas and they didn’t disappoint. This is certainly a restaurant we will be coming back to. Maybe in spring when it changes the menu?
Deb Mishra★★★★★
—A sudden but totally pleasant surprise— I have always been a fan of Asian cuisine. So whenever I get a chance I tend to check out various Asian restaurant. All good restaurants have good food. That’s expected of course but Asian restaurants (totally biased opinion) have a much livelier character to them and the service has always been to notch. While I have mostly been lucky in UK, in terms finding great Asian restaurants, in Europe I hadn’t been so lucky. That is up until yesterday & that too in quintessential french town of Strasbourg where I was just pit stopping for a night. While, the food and ambience was really great, it was catapulted further by the amazing explanations and friendly service by the ever smiling KepHren. While I stumbled upon this restaurant by accident, I’ll definitely try to come once again to properly try their various offerings. —restaurant quick tips 1. While I was lucky to get a seat, please make a reservation in advance 2. You get food in 5-4-3 courses or ala-carte 3. Because it’s a specialised restaurant you have their signature dishes only 4. Main alcoholic beverages are wine. You have couple of other outsiders but they are mostly wine based. —My two cents With such an amazing dinner, I did miss some good ol whiskey pairings. Would have been even better to have some good single malt to with the dinner. But I have always been biased towards whiskey 😊 P.S: while in Europe, I always mention, tipping is never an obligation and the service charges take care of the needs of their staff unlike in America (I still don’t know why) where the establishments tend to starve the the staff by making them rely on customer. But I did give a rather larger tip here just to show my gratitude as the experience was that great. But again I reiterate, in Europe tipping is not a norm. The service charges take care of staff. You can give 2-5% maximum if you are satisfied. A mannered behaviour and well meant thank you will go long way than a tip in Europe.

While roaming around the streets of Strasbourg,we came across this beautiful restaurant Huntun et Main. We didn't have an reservation but they accommodated us ( we were a group of 4 including 1 child) . We went for their 3 course meal options but now we think we should have gone for 5 course meals. It was not only delicious but we're unique in it's kind. Our waiter Kephran not only made us aware about the dishes we ate , but also he gave us a bit of background about the dishes that were served to us. His explanations made the food even better. The vegan and vegetarian dishes were also surprisingly too good. Please make a reservation next time u r in stratsbourg. Definitely a 10/10.
Jie Yong Kuo★★★★☆
We had lunch here, four three course menus, some drinks and a bottle of wine. The food was good, service was excellent. It's a small restaurant, nicely decorated, almost more japanese than chinese style. Prices are slightly elevated if you only look at the food, but you pay for the service and it is not exorbitant by any means.

The food is quite delicious, and the portions are generous, making it great value for the price. The restaurant has plenty of seating, including a comfortable air-conditioned indoor area. They also offer free Wi-Fi, making it a great place to relax and enjoy a meal. Overall, it’s a good choice if you’re looking for tasty food, a comfortable atmosphere, and good value.

This place is absolutely amazing! The chicken rice bowl was so good I literally cleaned the plate. The fried chicken is perfectly seasoned with a soy sauce base, and when you eat it with the rice, it’s pure perfection. The food also came out super fast, and the soup was unbelievably good. But the best part? The staff (Vjosa) were insanely kind and friendly. Seriously, they were so nice that I voluntarily asked for their name just so I could write this review. (Not an ad, I swear 😂). I even heard other customers raving about how good the chicken rice bowl is, which really shows how loved this place is. The atmosphere was fantastic, the location is convenient, and now I completely understand why it has such high ratings. Honestly, it was perfect — please do yourself a favor and try the chicken rice bowl!

It was just wonderful! I missed a lot nice asian food like rice bowls, noodles with meat and ramen, and here it is! You can find here really tasty dishes of china kitchen. I recommend to try a ramen with beef — very satisfying and appetizing. Also i can suggest to try a Tso kitchen with rice and noodles with beef. And if you are a bubble tea fan — here is a lot of items for you

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ What a fantastic meal! We were so pleased with everything we ordered. The spicy chicken rice bowl was absolutely delicious—packed with flavour, fresh ingredients, and a generous serving of vegetables. The ramen was equally delicious, and the dumpling soup was comforting and full of flavour. The drinks were amazing too. We loved the classic bubble tea and the rose & lychee tea—both were so refreshing and delicious. Everything tasted incredibly fresh, and we left feeling happy, full, and already talking about coming back. If you're in Petite France, Kitchen No. 51 is definitely worth a visit!

A really lovely place to enjoy authentic Asian comfort food. The meals are fresh, well-prepared, and full of flavor. Prices are fair for the quality you get. Definitely a place worth visiting again!

The atmosphere is nice, the service is fast, and the staff are polite. They also have a wide variety of menu options. The food we had was really delicious too. I had a wonderful meal at East Canteen. The food was delicious, and the atmosphere was cozy and charming. There are both indoor and outdoor seating options. I ordered the Tonkatsu and Ramen — both dishes were absolutely tasty. Highly recommended if you're looking for a nice, relaxed place to enjoy a good meal!

Big serving and within the usual price range. We ordered gyoza, takoyaki, Korean fried chicken and tonkatsu. I didn't really like the tonkatsu - it was overcooked. You can see in the photo below that it had turned to dark brown color (very far from what a tonkatsu really looks like). I'd recommend the Korean fried chicken though.

Love it! I ordered Kao ka moo as nd Chicken Satay and it taste awesome. They made the shoo looks like street food in Thailand and it very welcome. The staff are kind and helpful and the price is affordable!

I visited on a Friday night and went over just after 7pm and all the tables were full, so people must know the food is good. I got an order to go. The chicken was cooked perfectly. I didn't love the broccoli stem and stalks, without any florets. Otherwise, I really liked the dish. I would prefer again if I'm in the area. The service was OK. The staff was very busy getting orders and seemed a bit stressed. But no complaints. I think it's fresh ingredients and it was a good meal. 13€ for the chicken and rice

The best pad thai I have ever tasted. I chose the chicken version and there was plenty of the meat included. The decoration is genuine, but subtle. I can highly recommend.

Central located Cantonese place. Fresh ingredients and authentic. But really, nothing was seasoned. I had beef skewers (seasoning was better), and the duck soup noodle (completely not seasoned. No taste) Place is quite small & cramped & loud. Service was ok. All and all, quite disappointing experience.

Food was good except the skewers.

Visited Wan Chai earlier this week. Chefs in the kitchen are from Hong Kong! Ordered the 蝦炒面, the 滷水鴨 and the 沙爹牛肉. All dishes were authentic and tasty. Noodles were particularly outstanding, showcasing intense wok char flavours. Our server was also excellent, with her warmth and attentiveness putting us at ease. A great place to visit in Strasbourg if you are craving Chinese food!
Gabriel Garcia★★★☆☆
Nice staff but food was really tasteless. The curry truly tasted like nothing, had to ask for chili sauce to give it taste.
Paul Maradi★★★☆☆
It is not really pure Chinese food, it’s more Chinese food catered for white people. The taste is wrong on a couple dishes and they do more single dishes for one person compared to ordering a lot of dishes to share. Not my cup of tea but you could like it if you are the targeted audience.

Great Chinese Food with hand pulled noodles. I preferred the stir fried noodles with duck to the soup noodles with duck. More flavour and depth. The soup broth is cloudy which is unusual makes it look more like a Ramen. The spring rolls annd dumplings are delicious. Excellent service and friendly staff. Reasonable prices. Dog friendly. Ate here 3 times in my 5 days in Strasbourg. Would highly recommend.

Great handpulled noodles, friendly service. I sat outside and had the fried noodles with duck. One of the best noodle dishes I ever had! it is affordable and the service is friensly and fast. Outside it was nice, but the tables are very close to a street where people like to drive fast and as loud as possible with their cars. Inside it felt a bit loud and warm and had a strong “kitchen” smell. However, inside you can see into the open kitchen and watch the chefs prepare your meal, which is always nice!

I didn’t have any expectations but when I saw handmade noodles and I received my plate with delicious flavor I said OMG that’s amazing. The restaurant was a bit hot but the food was fantastic

Had a super good Lamian , and clearly handmade by the chef on spot. Portion is huge so the price is truly worthy. It just a little hot inside the restaurant but is not too bad. Still recommend

How to Choose the Right Asian Restaurant in Strasbourg

Choosing the perfect spot often depends on the occasion, your budget, and your tolerance for spice. Strasbourg’s Asian dining scene is diverse, ranging from casual, fast-paced noodle bars perfect for a lunch break to refined dining rooms suited for a leisurely dinner. To help you navigate the options and ensure you have the best possible experience, we have compiled a list of practical tips for dining out in the Alsatian capital.

  1. Book Ahead for Ramen and High-End Sushi: The most popular Japanese and ramen spots in the city center often have very limited seating. Walk-ins during peak hours (7:00 PM to 8:30 PM) frequently result in long waits. Always call ahead or check for online reservation options, especially on Friday and Saturday nights.
  2. Look for the "Lunch Menu" (Formule Midi): Dining out in France can be expensive, but nearly all Asian restaurants offer an excellent value lunch special on weekdays. These usually include a starter (like spring rolls or miso soup) and a main course (like a bento box or curry) for a fraction of the dinner price.
  3. Understand the Spice Levels: Authentic Sichuan and Thai kitchens in Strasbourg do not always "dumb down" the heat for European tastes. If a menu item is marked as spicy, take it seriously. If you are sensitive to heat, ask the staff for a mild version or request chili oil on the side rather than cooked into the dish.
  4. Explore Beyond the City Center: While the area around the Cathedral and Petite France is convenient, some of the most authentic and affordable Asian food is found in the Neudorf, Krutenau, and near the University campus. You will often find larger portions and more traditional menus where the rent is lower and the clientele is more local.
  5. Check for Dietary Adaptations: While Asian cuisine is often naturally gluten-free (rice noodles, rice paper) or vegetarian-friendly (tofu, vegetable broths), many sauces contain soy sauce or fish sauce. If you have allergies or strict dietary requirements, call ahead to confirm that the kitchen can accommodate you, as smaller bistros may have limited flexibility during a busy service.

The beauty of Strasbourg’s Asian food scene is that it offers a genuine sense of discovery. You might enter a nondescript doorway on a cobblestone street and find yourself transported to a neon-lit Tokyo alleyway or a bustling Bangkok market. These restaurants are not just places to eat; they are cultural bridges that have found a comfortable home in the heart of Alsace.

As the city continues to grow and diversify, so too does its palate. Whether you are a resident looking to break out of a culinary rut or a visitor seeking a break from hearty Alsatian fare, these kitchens offer a vibrant, flavorful alternative that proves Strasbourg is truly an international crossroads. We encourage you to explore this list, try something new, and support the passionate chefs who bring the flavors of Asia to eastern France.
