12 Best Cafes Near Plaza de España

Seville is a city that rewards slow exploration, but even the most patient traveler eventually needs a moment to sit down, cool off, and enjoy a proper cup of coffee. The area surrounding Plaza de España is one of the most visually stunning parts of the city, yet finding a quality cafe nearby can be trickier than expected.

Many visitors find themselves trapped in overpriced tourist traps with mediocre food, simply because they do not know which streets to walk down. The truth is that some of the best coffee in Seville is hiding just a few minutes away from the plaza, tucked into quiet residential corners and leafy parks.

Whether you are looking for a strong espresso before visiting the Parque de María Luisa, a healthy brunch after a morning of sightseeing, or a shaded terrace to escape the Andalusian heat, the neighborhood offers more variety than you might think.

From specialty coffee roasters focused on single-origin beans to traditional Spanish cafeterías serving fresh orange juice and toasted bread with tomato, there is a spot for every type of traveler and budget.

I have spent countless afternoons walking these streets, testing the coffee, sampling the pastries, and checking the Wi-Fi so you do not have to waste your time on a bad cup.

This guide focuses on quality, atmosphere, and proximity to the plaza, so you can spend less time searching and more time enjoying the city.

Below, you will find a curated list of the best cafes near Plaza de España, followed by a few practical tips to help you choose the right one for your needs.

The ambiance is lovely, and it’s a great spot to enjoy a coffee and a croissant for just €4.50. The café is within walking distance of the Royal Palace Garden, and the daytime view is beautiful. They also have a pleasant outdoor seating area, which makes it a nice place to relax. Unfortunately, the service didn’t match the setting. The staff were not very welcoming, especially toward tourists, which took away from an otherwise enjoyable experience.

The burrata. Thats all I’m gonna say. My goodness that was the most refreshing appetizer I’ve ever had. I highly recommend sitting at this restaurant during a sunny day. Truly was a splendid experience. My waiter was also super cool. My only drawback was the overly marinated/ over sauced chicken. Overall, loved my experience here!

What an amazing place and vibe for a breakfast. Friendly personnel, an amazing team who don't just cook but create small artworks. And the taste is absolutely perfect!

Really cool looking place. We got a table right away outside. Never even ended up actually ordering dinner. We ordered a sangria, a water, and a Coke. We got 2/3 of the drinks from the host guy who sat us, who was very friendly (only reason they got 2 stars for service and not 1). Then we sat there for well over an hour without seeing our waiter again. A few tables around us left without paying for even their drinks, but we stayed until he finally came back and at least paid for the drinks before leaving disappointed. I can't tell you how any of the dishes we'd planned on ordering were since we never tried them. The small bowl of potato chips we got with the drinks was fine.

Nice venue with good atmosphere with outdoor tables as well! The food was ok and the service, a bit slow. You have to persist to get some attention from staff! 😅🫣

Went here around one year ago with my girlfriend and our friend. We got the patatas bravas, toast and eggs, and penne and ham. Food was delicious and the staff was friendly. Recommend coming here.

Stopped by for an iced coffee and a croissant and both were absolutely delicious! There are even flavors for the coffee, I got an iced pistachio latte 😋. Overall, this is a super cute coffee shop in the heart of Sevilla and the owner was very nice.

Good coffee shop. They didn’t have croissants that morning unfortunately. And they served the coffee in a to go cup although I was drinking it at premise.
Mun Kew Leong★★★★★
We've been trying every specialty coffee place we've walked by in Seville that smells good. This place smelt great, has the interesting beans and delivered the great taste we've been looking for. I had an espresso macchiato with Nicaraguan beans and my wife had a decaf flat white with Colombian beans. Good flavors and length on the decaf. The macchiato was excellent with great acidity and spiciness and a strong body. Definitely coming back!

The first time we came to this café, was a lot of people waiting in line and it seemed not enough seats, so we left. However, the awesome smell of coffee made us want to come back again, we must at least try once, no? We did! And it didn’t let us down. The cappuccino and latte were awesome and with enough caffeine :p (some café in Sevilla barely put enough coffee inside) , the cookies were also tasty and not too sweet. It seemed only had the owner himself to attend the clients, we were lucky to came a bit earlier to avoid the crowds. The general experience was nice, a bit pricey but not not affordable. Highly recommended!

A great café with excellent coffee roasted in-house. Their pastries are delicious—especially the croissant—and their cortado is outstanding. Highly recommended!

This coffee shop was on my radar being so highly rated but because of its limited open timings it was a struggle to get coffee but it sure paid off when I managed to try the coffee. Nestled on the streets beside the setas you can sit on a bench, bask in the sun and try this complex, deep flavoured that somehow wasn't bitter even without any sweetener ( I usually have coffee with sweetener). Top coffee experiences in Spain for me.

Little coffee shop with lots of character! You can see in the details and interiors of the shop. Excellent service as well. The barista was very helpful and warm when we asked about the beans and items in the menu. We also enjoyed the coffee. Tried both iced latte Regina and espresso tonic which were both flavorful. I would’ve given it 5 stars if there were pastries. But overall, a must try!!

Small shop, memorable coffee, super clean and friendly service! 100% recommended for coffee lovers!

Lovely little gem. If you care about coffee quality- go there! The owner was so friendly, and I truly loved the iced americano con un poco de leche 🥰

For an industrial place, it’s one of the best. Bright and cheerful atmosphere, decent quality food and pastries, good prices, good coffee, and the employees are very nice. I really appreciated the complimentary cinnamon and cocoa powder for the coffee, not to mention a whole shelf of high-quality flavored oils and vinegars. I just wish there was more variety of pastries, for example, cinnamon rolls. Overall, a well-run place.

Faborit is a pretty big chain of coffee, salad & sandwich shops in Spain, mainly located in Madrid (17) and Barcelona (10). They cater to the breakfast and lunch occasions. The location in Plaza de España is wide, modern and well lit, a beautiful space where the light comes in to envelop your food moment. For some reason, I had to pay the coffee in one transaction and the food in another transaction? The poor girl taking orders did not know how to operate her machine. Not a big deal, but she needs a manager and training. Fast. Coffee was OK, not memorable. There are better coffee shops like Mission close by if you want something more 3rd wave coffee. This one was convenient for us, nothing more, nothing less. The pan con tomate was underwhelming. Mainly because the poor tomato was destroyed in a blender, lacks the texture of hand made. Average tasting tomato. We had better elsewhere during our trip. However, the oil and vinegar self-service counter is a nice touch. Average experience. Nothing more, nothing less. P.S.: please leave a ❤️ if you found this review useful in making your choices, thank you 🙏

It was great that it was open early from 7am. It had a direct view towards Plaza de España. The coffee was ok but the pastries looked good.

Lovely place located in front of a view of Plaza de España. Their coffee is ok, but not the best. They have the best carrot cake, juice, and fresh salad. If you like to read or study at the coffee shops.. this is the place.

Located in the middle of busy area. I went for breakfast and everyone was kind and quick. Bread and cafe was good too. I liked the seat I can see the outside as a visitor. Washroom needs the password and it was clean as well.

The breakfast combo was good, although it included little avocado for the two slices of tostada it included. I loved the green detox smoothly. The matcha latte was unfortunately full of sugar. As I don't want to take any sugar, they were friendly enough to interchange my drink for a delocious ice tea with lemon.
Aris Vrakas★★★☆☆
Pleasant space, foods not tasty and overpriced. Coffee is basic. I ordered a toasty. Asked if they grill it. It came out from one of those micro-ovens barely warm, cheese still cold – not melted and bread like warm. A child knows how to make a better toastie. That will be €8. It’s one of those businesses that copy food from TV thinking they can charge TV food prices without knowing what it’s supposed to taste like. Coffee is basic. You can get much better elsewhere.

Got summer watermelon for €4.70 cad $7.11 The staff was super patient and helpful. The gentleman on the salad counter came over and answered our questions about the pulp etc and he assured us its just juice. The drink was refreshing and cold. It was a lil sour but it made for a good healthy drink. The inside is well lit with adequate seating. It wasn’t too loud so you can easily sit and talk.
Diego Serrano★★☆☆☆
this place could have gotten a higher rating as it is a nice and tidy place, had a nice location and the prices are reasonable however the guy that was preparing the salads at 15:00 on the 25th december was really rude and made me have a bad experience and not ever want to come back. first i went and stood there for a while until one of his colleagues told him to prepare the salads for the clients when they are standing there waiting, then once he finally decided to help me prepare my salad he was really rude and had bad energy. not coming back again.

Tips for Choosing a Cafe Near Plaza de España

Not every cafe in this area is created equal, and your ideal spot will depend on the time of day, the weather, and what you actually need from the experience. These tips will help you avoid common mistakes and make the most of your coffee break near one of Seville’s most famous landmarks.

Walk at least five minutes from the plaza. The cafes directly facing the Plaza de España or the main taxi drop-off points tend to charge higher prices for lower quality. A short walk into the surrounding neighborhoods will almost always reward you with better coffee and more authentic local atmosphere.

Check the opening hours before you go. Many traditional Spanish cafes close during the afternoon siesta, especially in the summer months. If you are planning a mid-afternoon coffee, verify that the place is open or look for specialty coffee shops, which often stay open all day.

Ask for “café con hielo” in summer. Seville gets extremely hot, and locals often order an espresso served with a glass of ice. You pour the hot coffee over the ice and add sugar if you like. It is refreshing, cheap, and a very local way to enjoy coffee.

Do not expect fast Wi-Fi everywhere. Some traditional cafes have no Wi-Fi at all, while specialty coffee shops usually have reliable connections. If you need to work or plan your route, choose a modern cafe over a classic bar.

Order a “tostada con tomate” for breakfast. This is the standard Andalusian breakfast—toasted bread rubbed with fresh tomato, drizzled with olive oil, and sometimes topped with jamón. It is simple, delicious, and usually much better value than pastries aimed at tourists.

Bring cash for smaller cafes. While most places accept cards now, some family-run spots still prefer cash for small orders like a single coffee. Having a few euros in your pocket will make things easier.

Look for shade if you want to sit outside. The terraces near the park can be beautiful but brutal in direct sunlight. Choose a cafe with umbrellas or a tree-covered patio, especially between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m.

The area around Plaza de España is not just a place to take photos—it is also a gateway to some of the most pleasant residential streets in Seville. Taking the time to find a good cafe will give you a much richer experience of the city than staying glued to the main tourist route.

So grab your camera, take your time wandering through the park, and then settle into one of these cafes for a well-earned break. The coffee will taste better when you know you have found a spot the locals actually love.
