Finding a great café in the heart of Paris is rarely difficult, but finding one that balances quality, atmosphere, and value near such a monumental tourist hub requires a bit of local insight. The area surrounding the Place de la Concorde is a fascinating crossroads where the opulence of Rue Saint-Honoré meets the quiet elegance of the 8th arrondissement and the intellectual charm of Saint-Germain-des-Prés just across the Seine.
Whether you are looking for a quick espresso to fuel a museum visit or a leisurely terrace spot to people-watch, this historic district offers a surprisingly diverse coffee scene. It ranges from legendary institutions that have served artists for centuries to modern specialty roasters catering to a new generation of coffee connoisseurs.
The key to enjoying this area is knowing where to step off the main boulevards. While the views of the Luxor Obelisk and the Eiffel Tower are spectacular, the best brews are often found tucked away in the side streets, in museum courtyards, or inside luxury hotels.
This guide curates the most exceptional coffee experiences within a short walking distance of the Place de la Concorde. We have focused on establishments that offer more than just caffeine—places that provide a genuine taste of Parisian life, whether through their pastries, their history, or their interior design.
From hidden gardens to opulent Second Empire dining rooms, the cafés on this list represent the best of the Right Bank. Each entry has been selected for its consistency, service, and ability to provide a memorable break from the bustling city streets.
Whether you are a visitor navigating the Tuileries Garden or a local looking for a new favorite haunt, you will find a spot here that suits your mood. Here are the best cafés near Place de la Concorde, presented in no particular order.

Having a dinner here at Café Lapérouse is a beautiful mix of classic Parisian elegance and modern energy. The décor is stunning — warm, intimate, and perfect for a special evening. The food was excellent, and beautifully presented.
Service was attentive and professional without feeling rushed. A great choice for date night or a stylish dinner with friends. Highly recommend!

Our food wasn’t that great. The service and atmosphere of the place were really good. But for the price, you don’t get what you paid for 😅

Overall a lovely experience!
Food was solid and we had a very enjoyable dinner. Service was good, but a bit confusing about who did what. Outer tables afford a view of the main avenue, but we quite preferred our seating in the inner courtyard which was beautiful.
Gabriela Babiarczyk★★★★★
We booked a big table here for a Parisian-style afternoon tea, and it was such a lovely experience. The interior is absolutely stunning, and the atmosphere was great - relaxed and elegant at the same time. The restaurant is tucked away inside a courtyard, which makes it feel calm, cozy and nicely chilled. We had tea, mocktails, cocktails and pretty much the entire dessert menu; everything was delicious!
It’s a perfect spot to catch up and indulge a little; would definitely come back.

I randomly came across this cafe and the food ended up being one of the highlight of my trip to Paris. I had the beef tartare which was incredibly fresh and well seasoned. The homemade fries were also absolutely delicious. The outdoor seating is great for people watching and enjoying a beer. The staff were very welcoming and attentive.

Dropped in for a pint ended with dinner. Service was long, World Cup could be the distraction. Once over, service resumed normal. Waiter was kind, food was good except for the fries, tiny cuts of it. Can’t even dip into the ketchup without messing up.

Great friendly atmosphere, fantastic food with excellent and very friendly service from Moussa, such a nice guy!!
Steak was cooked perfectly, and the Beef tartare was very impressive.

A great little find after 'doing' the Louvre and walking past the designer shops on Rue Saint-Honore.
We wanted somewhere typically French, with great food and a relaxed atmosphere. Cafe Concorde did not disappoint. The staff are friendly, service isn't rushed and the food was lovely. We had escargot, French onion soup, pork chop and duck breast. Lovely!
There is plenty of indoor, and covered outdoor seating. When we left in the pouring rain, the inside was almost empty - outside was coming alive!

What funny experience we had today.
The food was good. The omelette was really tasty along with the coffee.
The elderly gentleman, who served us, was quite casual yet polite from the very beginning. We really liked that approach. We were kind of first customers and when asked he found out from the kitchen that they would prepare the omelettes. After serving us,he continued to be polite and funny, again we liked it. When I went to pay, he included the orange juice in the price that was never mentioned or served. I pointed it out and he was immediately very apologetic and offered us the juices. I thought that was funny. Then he offered us coffees and croissants. We declined the croissants but took the coffees.
Overall it was an interesting experience to say the least and we will definitely go back. In another restaurant, where we paid a lot of money, I complained about the bread that was not served. But in this case I was not bothered as the service was good. And if the main dishes are as tasty as the omelettes, then it will definitely be a good try. I do recommend it.

The food was amazing. We tried duck confit and steak with fries. Both were great. Especially the duck was very good. Special thanks to our waiter, Geoffrey! He was amazing. He made sure that we were well taken care of. We will definitely come again!

Le Florentine is a wonderful surprise and a really enjoyable dining experience, even if you come in solo.
The menu is described as Italian, but honestly, it feels Italian with a strong French influence — and that’s not a bad thing at all. One highlight was the baguette served at the table. Paired with duck liver pâté, it was absolutely delightful and dangerously easy to keep going back for more. Simple, elegant, and done right.
The beef was cooked to absolute perfection — tender, well seasoned, and clearly handled with care. It’s the kind of dish where you can tell the kitchen knows exactly what it’s doing.
Service really stood out too. The waiter was friendly, engaging, and attentive, without being intrusive. I was dining alone, and despite the place being super crowded, I never felt awkward or rushed — none of that uncomfortable single-diner vibe that sometimes happens in busy Paris restaurants.
By 6 PM, the crowd was already streaming in, which says a lot about how popular this place is. The atmosphere was lively but still comfortable, making it easy to just sit back and enjoy the meal.
Overall, this is a fantastic spot for well-executed food, great service, and a welcoming atmosphere — whether you’re dining solo or with company.

So much enjoyed our dinner here! Walking distance from Louvre and square! French Food style and good quality and fresh! Reasonably priced! Wonderful helpful and friendly service! Overall it was good. I give 4 stars because when we were seated the waitress asked us if we want water and we said yes. She gave us one bottle of still water. Later we saw in the bill that it was 10 euro. Meanwhile on every other table there were bottles of tap water which are free. So, be careful and ask for tap water - don't make our mistake.

We visited this wonderful café multiple times during our holiday, and it quickly became our absolute favorite spot!
The food was consistently fantastic, and the ambience is warm, relaxed, and beautifully curated. What truly made our visits unforgettable, however, was the extraordinary service—especially from Cedric. He was incredibly competent, attentive, and brought such genuine warmth to every interaction.
We were blown away when the staff remembered our exact orders from the day before on just our second visit! That level of care and attention to detail is truly rare.
An absolute gem of a place. A well-deserved 5 stars—we will definitely be back next time we are in town!

Our Hotel recommended. It was utterly fantastic. We have been so lucky to dine at so many places around the world - and this will be in our memories forever. The food was exactly why one goes to Paris. Prepared in the most meticulous way. The service incredibly connected - our server Victor was engaging and funny and incredibly helpful in navigating our preferences. He was so attentive, he even initiated partially closing some outside doors to give us a better warmth. The only problem - we have two more nights in Paris - and we are debating simply going back! 🙂

I had a regular espresso, but it was quite sour. My companion ordered a filter coffee, which tasted good. We also tried the Golden Latte, but it was served cold. The staff were polite and friendly. The atmosphere is okay, but it feels more like a place to grab a drink and go rather than stay and relax
Yunadil Nugraha★☆☆☆☆
I recently ordered a matcha, and it was really disappointing. The drink tasted almost entirely like milk, with barely any matcha flavor at all. Honestly, I couldn’t even tell if much matcha powder was used, it just didn’t have the richness or depth you’d expect from a proper matcha.
For a €7 drink, I expected much better quality. On top of that, the cashier’s attitude wasn’t very welcoming and came across as a bit rude especially the ginger guy. Customer service could definitely be improved.
As someone who genuinely enjoys and understands matcha, this experience didn’t meet expectations at all. There’s definitely room for improvement, both in the drink quality and service.

I had an amazing experience thanks to an exceptional barista, Sahana. Her talent for creating beautiful latte art is honestly impressive each drink feels like a little masterpiece. Beyond that, she always gives great recommendations, suggesting drinks that perfectly match your taste.
What really stands out is the passion she puts into her work. You can tell she genuinely cares about every cup she makes and every customer she serves. Her kindness and positive energy make the whole experience even better just like Elmi, another exceptional barista.
If you’re looking for high-quality coffee made with skill and heart, this is definitely the place to go! ☕✨

Following an enchanting evening stroll through Paris, we concluded our night with a midnight dinner at a cafe-restaurant that exuded charm, offered a superb ambiance, and provided exceptional service. The culinary experience was unparalleled.
To commence, I selected the French Onion Soup, which featured a delicate broth and was crowned with exquisite cheese. This warm and comforting soup proved to be the perfect remedy after a day of rain. For my second course, I opted for another starter: Pâté de Foie Gras, accompanied by toast, jam, and small caramelized dried mandarins. The robust flavor of the pâté de foie gras, harmoniously balanced by the sweetness of the mandarins, created an irresistible combination. My wife enjoyed the Salmon with mashed potatoes; I must commend the mashed potatoes for their exceptional softness and creaminess, to the extent that I finished the remainder of her portion. We concluded our meal with crepes and coffee. Additionally, we savored two local 1664 beers. It was truly magnificent.
Should your travels bring you to Paris, particularly in proximity to the Louvre Museum, I wholeheartedly recommend this establishment. I assign this exceptional venue a perfect rating of 5 out of 5.

I came from Brazil to see the sights of Paris, and we discovered this place. It is a great option for dinner after touring Paris's main attractions. I recommend taking a night bus tour before coming here, as the restaurant stays open late and offers excellent service and quality food at a fair price—especially considering its proximity to the Louvre. The menu is a highlight in itself; for a starter, I recommend the traditional French onion soup with cheese. The house specialties come highly recommended as well—paired with a good wine—and a Crème Brûlée makes for a perfect finish. Great service and exceptional quality.

You have to try their duck confit! It’s so flavorful and pairs perfectly with their excellent gravy. The mashed potatoes are smooth and creamy—absolutely divine. The server was also exceptionally kind and helpful. I’ve visited twice now, and this place consistently keeps their quality high. Definitely recommend!

I came on Saturday afternoon around 3 p.m. I needed to queue about 5 minutes but then soon got a table for 5 people. The staffs were really nice and they spoke English quite well. I ordered an iced matcha latte. The interior decorations were really beautiful. A good place to take beautiful pictures.

We started with a seafood cold platter, which was fresh, well-balanced, and precisely composed. The escargots were prepared in classic style, rich in buttery garlic flavors with perfect texture.
For the main course, the sole was outstanding—perfectly cooked, delicate, and clean in flavor, allowing the quality of the ingredient to stand out.
The service was attentive and professional, and the setting reflects the heritage of the place.
Overall, a refined and classic French dining experience.
Coco Song★★★★☆
The restaurant side was much quieter than the café side, which I appreciated, and service started off very well. However, once the room became only slightly busier, it felt less attentive and at times a little impatient, which surprised me for a restaurant at this level.
The food was a mixed bag. The drinks were strong, the oysters were delicious, the foie gras was good, and the beef tournedos was excellent. The millefeuille was also a lovely dessert. But other dishes were underwhelming: the white asparagus was bland and unevenly cooked, the crab with lime lacked flavor, and the sea bass with crispy rice was disappointing. Our side of fries was also forgotten and only arrived after we reminded the staff, lukewarm.
I’m glad I tried it, but for the price, I expected a more polished and consistent experience.
THE ELEGANT BARISTA★★★★☆
Café de la Paix is one of the most iconic cafés in Paris, and the location is absolutely stunning. The elegant interior and historic atmosphere make it a beautiful place to visit, especially if you want to experience a classic Parisian café.
The service, however, was only average and didn't quite match the prestige of the venue. I tried a cake, a pain au chocolat, an espresso, and a drink. The beverages were good, and the espresso was enjoyable, but nothing particularly memorable. The pastries were extremely expensive and, in my opinion, not of the quality I expected for the price.
That said, it's clear that a large part of what you're paying for is the incredible location and its history. Overall, it's worth visiting once for the atmosphere, but I believe the food and pastries could better match the reputation of the café.
Doctor Bruun★★★★☆
The atmosphere is elegant and quintessentially Parisian, making it a wonderful spot to relax and enjoy a break in the city.
I ordered a cappuccino and a chocolate croissant, and both were delicious. The cappuccino was rich and well-prepared, while the chocolate croissant was fresh, flaky, and full of flavor. The setting and service added to the overall experience.

We selected this place to grab a fast and reasonably priced dinner after coming off a long train ride. Pros: typical bistro menu (reasonably priced), very professional head of waitstaff, seating possibilities near windows. Cons: quality was not very good (fish overcooked, salad with few greens that wilt under the warm meat), you ate dining within 6 inches of your neighbor. It fulfilled my expectation of being a quick dinner but would not come back again.

I ordered duck and a dessert. Both were delicious. The portion of duck was really big. The service was great and the staff were very patient. The price is reasonable too. Highly recommend this place!
A little incident: I left my power bank on the chair. Luckily, a nearby customer and a waiter helped keep it safe. I’m so glad I got it back. Thanks again to both of you ❤️

You will be missing out if you don’t eat here. The 6 gentlemen work like clockwork, knowing what the other is thinking. Efficient, friendly, small establishment that’s big on taste, value, and team work. The New York sandwich is great sandwich that starts with a nice crunch of the French baguette. The crepes are exceptionally large and loaded, and packed with flavour and freshness. This is a bucket list restaurant for lunch that’s outstanding value. My kids loved the food. You guys are brilliant, thank you.

Happy Café was such a fun stop for us—definitely one we’ll remember!
We ordered two Nutella crepes, a Kinder Bueno crepe, a Nutella crepe with pistachio ice cream, and a marshmallow-topped donut, and everything was delicious. The crepes were warm, soft, and generously filled (we clearly couldn’t get enough of the Nutella 😄). The Kinder Bueno crepe was super indulgent and perfect for chocolate lovers, and the Nutella crepe with pistachio ice cream was a great combo—rich, creamy, and a little different. The donut topped with marshmallows was also a fun, sweet treat.
But by far, the highlight was the owner. He was absolutely hilarious and created such a welcoming, friendly atmosphere. He made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived, which really made the whole experience stand out.
Great desserts, amazing vibes, and an owner who truly makes the place special—we’d definitely come back!

Happy Café definitely lives up to its name. The people here are genuinely kind, friendly, and seem to enjoy what they do. The menu has plenty of great options, and everything we ordered was fresh and delicious. You can really see why it’s called Happy Café. It’s not just the food, it’s the people. We’d happily come back the next time we’re in Paris.
One small thing that really stood out: one of our orders was taking a little longer than expected, and since it was such a hot day, the staff brought us complimentary lemon drinks while we waited to make sure we stayed hydrated. It’s little gestures like that which turn a good meal into a memorable experience.

Brought home some limited edition macarons too, the barbe a papa. We called for a table ahead of time so the cafe knew we had a toddler. The server was great he gave my son a fauchon coloring book that was super cute, my son kept coloring it weeks after he got it. Merci beaucoup 🩵

Could not pick a better place to during my first time visit of Paris!
Everything and everyone was great.
The hotel was clean, Cosy, comfortable and all the staff were outstanding.
We have loved that we could have breakfast every day at our hotel room without any additional charge.
The location was also fantastic and very practical (you're close to the shops and Louvre).
We are very thankful for the time we got to spend at Fauchon hotel ❤️

We had a wonderful experience! The food was excellent, and François and Thomas were absolutely amazing. They went above and beyond to help us choose the best dishes and even recommended a fantastic dessert. Everything was served perfectly and on time, and the restaurant was very kid-friendly with a great kids’ menu. Exceptional service and hospitality, highly recommended!

A great place for traditional French fare with excellent service by the great staff who took care of us. It was amazing how quickly the food arrived and the croque monsieur, chicken and butcher’s beef cut were all very hearty and tasty with great frittes and salad. I’ve also visited here early to get their croissants in the morning (they open 7 am) & they were excellent

A great meal to end my sister and I's first night in Paris! I'm no French food expert, but I really enjoyed my beef tartare and the creme brulee we split for dessert. It was also the perfect amount of food and I left feeling very content.
We came around 6:30pm on a Sunday evening and were easily able to get a seat outside. It became a lot busier even just half an hour later, but the servers and employees were nothing but friendly and accommodating. I would definitely come back!

I would 100% recommend this spot! Our server was lovely. My mom and I wanted a classic French dinner experience and we definitely got it.
We started with escargot which were phenomenal, I got the duck and my mom the sea bass and both were cooked perfectly. Our server paired us with two different white wines which were delightful. To finish, we shared an apple pie - made the Normandy way - best I’ve ever had, and I despise baked fruit.
10/10 - Simple food, made with love!
Our server was fantastic and made the dinner visit perfect.
My only complaint - which is not the restaurants fault at all - would be the ignorant Americans that were in the restaurant loudly talking about very vulgar topics. Save that for the bar - not a nice restaurant and maybe just don’t speak so obnoxiously loud? However that’s asking a lot of an American.
Tips for Enjoying Cafés near Place de la Concorde
To make the most of your coffee break in this prestigious part of Paris, it helps to understand the local customs and logistics. The area around the Place de la Concorde is one of the most regulated and high-traffic zones in the city, which affects pricing, dress codes, and seating availability. Knowing a few unwritten rules will help you blend in and secure the best spots without frustration.
1. Understand the Pricing Structure
Prices in this district are heavily influenced by the real estate and the views. A coffee at a terrace with a direct view of the Eiffel Tower or the Obelisk will often cost significantly more than one consumed at the bar (le comptoir). To save money while still experiencing the grandeur, consider standing at the bar for your espresso, which is a very local habit, and then taking your stroll afterward.
2. Distinguish Between Cafés and Salons de Thé
While the English word "café" covers everything, Paris differentiates between a traditional café (focused on coffee and alcohol) and a salon de thé (tea room). If you are looking for a wider selection of pastries, cakes, and a quieter, more refined atmosphere for a longer break, look for establishments labeled as salons de thé, many of which are hidden within the luxury hotels near Rue de Rivoli.
3. Time Your Visit Strategically
The area floods with tourists between 12:00 PM and 3:00 PM, especially around the Tuileries Garden. If you want a relaxed experience, aim for a mid-morning coffee (around 10:00 AM) or a late-afternoon break (after 4:00 PM). This allows you to avoid the lunch rush and often results in faster service and a better chance of getting a coveted terrace seat.
4. Take Advantage of Museum Cafés
Some of the best and most architecturally stunning cafés in this area are located inside museums like the Musée du Louvre or the Musée de l’Orangerie. You often do not need a museum ticket to access these cafés if they have a separate street entrance. These spots are excellent for a quiet break away from the traffic noise of Rue de Rivoli.
5. Check the Weather and Terrace Etiquette
Parisian café culture is largely about the terrace, but seating outside is strictly seasonal. While heaters allow for extended use, the tables are usually packed during the first sunny day of spring. Unlike in some countries, it is generally acceptable to sit for a long time with just one coffee on a Parisian terrace, provided the café is not overly crowded; however, if there is a line, it is polite to relinquish your table after a reasonable amount of time.
6. Payment and Tipping
While credit cards are widely accepted, carrying a small amount of cash is useful for smaller cafés that may have a minimum spend for cards. Tipping is not obligatory in France, as service is included in the price, but leaving a few coins of small change (un pourboire) on the table or in the tip jar for good service is always appreciated.
The area surrounding the Place de la Concorde offers a unique blend of history and modern indulgence. Whether you choose a storied institution where philosophers once debated or a sleek modern roastery, the experience is about more than just the caffeine; it is about soaking in the atmosphere of one of the world’s most beautiful urban spaces.
Taking a moment to sit down with a perfectly pulled espresso or a rich hot chocolate allows you to pause and appreciate the architectural harmony of the city. As you plan your itinerary through the 8th arrondissement, let these cafés serve as your anchors for rest and rejuvenation amidst the sightseeing.
