Whether you are a die-hard Valencia CF supporter heading to a match, a football tourist ticking off a historic stadium, or a local resident exploring the vibrant Algirós neighborhood, finding the right spot for a quality coffee is essential. The area surrounding the iconic Mestalla Stadium is a bustling mix of traditional Spanish bars, modern specialty roasters, and quiet student hangouts due to its proximity to the university.

Navigating the streets around Avenida de Aragón and Calle Blasco Ibáñez can be overwhelming if you are looking for more than just a quick espresso. You do not want to settle for a stale croissant or a burnt cup of coffee when there are hidden gems just a few minutes’ walk from the turnstiles.

That is why we have curated a guide to the best coffee experiences this energetic district has to offer. We have focused on places that deliver consistency, atmosphere, and value, whether you are grabbing a quick pick-me-up before kickoff or settling in for a lazy brunch the morning after.

From tiny holes in the wall serving third-wave single origins to classic Valencian horchaterías that have been perfecting their craft for decades, this list covers the full spectrum. You will find options that cater to remote workers needing reliable Wi-Fi, as well as terraces perfect for people-watching on match day.

Our recommendations are based on bean quality, location convenience, service speed, and the overall vibe of the space. We have made sure to include spots that are open early for pre-match nerves and late enough for post-match analysis.

Below, you will find a handpicked selection of the twelve best cafes near Mestalla Stadium, organized to help you find exactly what you are craving without wandering too far from the stadium gates.

4 stars – good overall, but not quite the 4.8 experience I was expecting. With more than 1,600 reviews and such a high rating, my expectations were naturally very high. The bagel was definitely the highlight—fresh, flavorful, and something I’d happily order again. The espresso was also good. We also tried the coffee tonic, which was nice but not particularly memorable. The fresh orange juice had excellent-quality oranges, but unfortunately it wasn’t served cold. The biggest disappointment was the fruit salad. The portion was quite small, and some of the fruit, especially the strawberries, was no longer fresh, which affected the overall taste. The seating area is lovely with a relaxed atmosphere, and it’s a nice place to spend some time. Service could also be improved. Some of our order was forgotten, and while it’s always nice to greet regular customers, we felt other guests were left waiting and received less attention. Overall, I’d recommend this place for the bagels, pastries, and classic coffee, but based on our experience, I’d rate it closer to 4 stars than 4.8.
Andrew Schneider★★★★★
Excellent coffee. Pour over V60. BOSCON roasts their own beans. Excellent brunch options. Sausage and toast were particularly good. Also the wrap was excellent. The service was excellent as well. Flour was delightful and spoke incredible English and super considerate.

We found this place while looking for an American-style breakfast near our hotel, and it ended up being one of our go-to spots. I’ve probably been here about six times in the past two weeks. They have a great brunch menu where you get a full breakfast, coffee, orange juice, a refreshment, and even a dessert. The breakfast comes with eggs, bacon, sausage, toast, avocado, cherry tomatoes—pretty much everything you’d want. Honestly, it’s a lot of food for around €18–19, and I usually end up sharing it with my daughter. Food quality is great, and the value is hard to beat. They also have things like a bacon bagel, which was a nice find. Service has been consistently great—very polite and attentive. We usually sit outside, and it’s a nice, quiet neighborhood, which makes the whole experience even better. Also, their oatmeal cookie is really, really good—definitely worth trying. Overall, this is a spot we’ve really enjoyed and will definitely come back to before we leave. It’ll be a regular stop for us anytime we’re back. Highly recommend.

Boscon Coffee Roasters is an excellent destination in Valencia for specialty coffee lovers who also want a high-quality breakfast. The space is modern and welcoming, with a relaxed atmosphere that makes it the perfect spot to start your day. The breakfast options were surprisingly tasty, and their set menus are a great deal, typically including coffee, a sweet treat, and a drink at a very reasonable price. The food is fresh and well-presented, perfectly complementing the overall dining experience. The coffee is, without a doubt, the main highlight. The selection is diverse and of very high quality; we decided to test the same origin prepared as both a batch brew and a V60, and both were excellent. Since it is also a roastery, you can see the roasting equipment on-site and buy a wide variety of freshly roasted beans to take home. I highly recommend this place for their expertise in the art of coffee and the quality of their service. It is a must-stop if you are looking for a great brunch and authentic specialty coffee.
Niya Hristova★★★★☆
Lovely breakfast and a pleasant brunch experience overall. The food was tasty and well presented, and the atmosphere was nice. However, there is still room for improvement in some areas such as service speed, attention to detail, and consistency. With a few changes, this place could become truly excellent.

The first time I came I was greeted by the nicest barista. She was very patient and helpful in guiding me to what was good. It’s a very nice and calming environment in a very chill neighborhood. Only suggestion would be to add pancakes but that’s just personal preference.

Wow. Fantastic coffee. Good and hot, too. I almost accidentally ordered a carajillo, for breakfast! But switched to a cortada in time. 🙂

I had a really great experience at this café. I went in for a milkshake, and the service immediately stood out. The bartender spoke very good English, which made things much easier for me and made me have an even better experience. He took the time to explain to me the different flavors and options. The atmosphere was welcoming, and the service overall was friendly and attentive. The milkshake I had was delicious. I ordered the salted caramel one, which I highly recommend. I’m staying in Valencia for five days, and I’ll definitely be coming back again, even on my last day before leaving. I would highly recommend this place and will be suggesting it to my friends and anyone visiting Valencia.

Great spot for a quick coffee/drinks/pastries. Serving staff is great and willing to help. Decent price! Edit 05/2024: serving staff has changed. Expect snappy answers from time to time. "Do you have some pistachio-stuffed berliner, the same as those from yesterday?" "Well, yesterday."
Ricardo Sandez★★★★☆
Decent prices for empanadas. Nice puff pastry too. The attention varies a lot depending on the time of the day and the mood of the waitresses. It's good if you need a takeover breakfast.

Please do Not est the hamburguer menú! Worst menú ever eaten ! Worst hamburguer , too noisy, the waiters do the best effort to attend but food not recommended ! The fries too oily , the meat had such bad quality! If you want a better Burger you better go home !

Really local and authentic southern spain bar and restaurant. 11 euros for a full menu during lunch is a steal and everything was delicios. The portion sizes were big too.
The Travelling Camera★★★☆☆
I arrived around 1pm. It was really quiet: I went to sit at a table in part of the restaurant but I was directed to another area yet others sat in that area not long after. There was no menu provided but I saw others with different meals and then with menus. The waitress didn’t have any English but tried hard to help which was really good - both of us trying to use Google Translate. In the end I asked for a Coke Zero, agua and a jamon y queso sandwich which looked like it came out of my sandwich maker at home. It cost €6 in total. I’d have spent more as I really wanted something half decent at lunch had I got a menu. The waitress was lovely though but I would never go back there.

I am sat in here now before a Valencia game and have had amazing service in a packed bar, they are geared up and know what they are doing! Pint San Miguel €4 wings €7 Bravas €5 no wonder they are busy great value !

An outstanding experience at Bar Mestalla! The food was delicious and fresh, and the atmosphere was authentic and welcoming — but what impressed us the most was the service. The waiter was extremely friendly, professional, and attentive — a true example of great hospitality. We felt welcome from the very first moment. Highly recommended to anyone looking for a real local experience with excellent service!

Fun little community coffee shop located near the University. You can see they have many returning customers which says a lot. Atmosphere: 5-maximizes the small space they have with a kitchen, coffee grinder and seating, amazing. Service:5-efficient and kind. This cafe was very busy but she still managed to serve all her locals and new customers efficiently and with care. Food:5-this is the part that really matters in a coffee shop, the cafe con leche was great. The drink was smooth with notes of Caramel and nuts. The milk was not over steamed but just right. The crepe was exactly what we asked for and the presentation was cute. If you’re in the neighborhood make sure to stop by Cafe Colomer.

Café de las Horas is one of those places in Valencia that is worth visiting simply for the atmosphere. The interior is wonderfully eclectic, with ornate details, velvet, chandeliers and a slightly theatrical feel that makes it quite different from your average café or bar. The building itself is located in the historic heart of Valencia, close to the old city centre. The café is housed in a historic setting and has become particularly famous for its connection with Agua de Valencia, the iconic Valencian cocktail made with cava, orange juice, vodka and gin. The drink was created in Valencia in the 1950s and Café de las Horas is one of the places most closely associated with this local classic. We were lucky enough to arrive at just the right moment and could sit down immediately. Not long afterwards, a queue had already formed outside with people waiting for a table. So if you want to visit, especially at a busy time, be prepared to wait a little. The service was friendly and welcoming, and the drinks were very good. Of course, trying the famous Agua de Valencia is almost obligatory when visiting... it’s part of what makes this place so recognisable. Overall, Café de las Horas is a cosy, atmospheric and slightly quirky place that feels like a little escape from the busy streets of Valencia. Definitely worth a visit for the unique interior, friendly service and, naturally, an Agua de Valencia.
Dwight Kenneth★★★★☆
Beautiful baroque interior . Get a seat inside and not outside as half the experience is the decor and interior design. The agua de Valencia is great (every place makes it slight different). Make sure to sample multiple places and always make sure they are using freshly squeezed OJ. The cheese plates and cured meats are very tasty as they are served on whole wheat bread, crackers, dried fruits, and walnuts . A flavor explosion. A little pricier than other places with similar offerings , but it is worth it. For two propyl you should start with a 1/2 liter of Agua de Valencia.
Jorge Valencia★★★★★
The best Agua de Valencia ever! Soft, smooth and dangerously delicious 🍊✨ You barely notice the alcohol… and then suddenly it hits you 😂 Elegant, refreshing and dangerously drinkable. And can we talk about the olives? Absolutely incredible — served in a delicious pickled marinade with garlic, onions and gherkins. So simple and so good. The place itself is wonderfully over-the-top: rococo, dramatic, a little eccentric… but incredibly cool. ✨ Definitely one of those spots with personality in Valencia.
Nikita Georgiev★★★★★
One of the most beautiful interiors in Valencia star ceiling, gold mirrors, chandeliers, the whole fantasy. Best Agua de Valencia in town, made with real Valencian oranges. Bonus: you can buy their orange liqueur by the bottle to make it at home (one bottle makes 3L), or grab a 1L take-away bottle of the ready cocktail. Atmosphere and drink both deliver.
Becca★★★★★
We only had drinks, great atmosphere, was busy and buzzing with happy chatting customers when we visited. We don't speak Spanish but were understood and enjoyed the stunning decor and the service and drinks. Agua de Valencia was delicious

Amazing, had a creative twist on the classic Valencian mid-morning esmorzaret. Staff were excellent and very helpful. Food was superb, my sandwich, the peanut & pickles whilst waiting - all part of the experience, and to finish with a traditional Cremaet (signature drink made with strong espresso layered over sweet rum flambéed with lemon rind and cinnamon) was just fantastic. Headed back that evening for tapas with the family and again throughly enjoyed the whole experience - food, drink and service 😋 Booked for the evening but walk in during day for esmorzaret, around 11:00

We had an early reservation, and Maicol made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived with his warm and friendly service. The pork belly was exceptional—perfectly crispy skin with tender, juicy meat. The aged beef paella was absolutely delicious, packed with flavour and finished with a fantastic socarrat. A few bites were slightly salty due to the finishing salt flakes, but it was still an outstanding dish overall. We ended the meal on the perfect note with the chocolate cake, which Maicol recommended—and we’re so glad he did. It was absolutely incredible, rich, indulgent, and easily one of the best chocolate desserts we’ve ever had. I’ll be dreaming about that chocolate cake for years to come!
Catherine Holland★★★★☆
We went here after a recommendation from our hotel and it was okay. Firstly, we wanted a paella as we could see it on the menu. To be told that rice is only allowed in AM. Since looking we can see that this is the traditional Spanish way to not have paella in the evening but it would have been good if the menu had stated this or there was a separate AM / PM menu. Instead we got tapas dishes to share and they were okay, not the best food or value we had during our trip. The terrace is nice to dine in and felt full of locals enjoying a pre-dinner drink. However, the location is out the way unless you are staying nearby.
Remus Muresan★★★★☆
I visited Bar Cremaet for a beer and some tapas and had a pleasant experience overall. The place is very nice, clean, and feels quite new, which adds to the comfort of the visit. The service was good and fast, so we didn’t have to wait long for our order. The tapas were tasty, though I found the prices a bit high compared to the portion sizes. Still, it’s a great spot if you’re looking for a modern and well-kept bar with efficient service in Valencia.
Two Foodies Travel Adventures★★☆☆☆
The pork belly saved the experience. We walked 40 minutes to get to Bar Cremaet - it’s a Monday evening 19:50 pm and on arrival there were 6 tables occupied outside and 4 tables inside and one couple sitting at the bar. This is a large restaurant with lots of tables inside in two floors and at least 6 spaces at the bar. It’s end of March, still a bit too cold to eat outside. Because we did not have a reservation we couldn’t sit inside - the waitress blankly refused. Take it or leave it. We walked far and came on recommendation for the pork belly so I agreed to stay - shivering outside. When I went to bathroom the place upstairs and downstairs were empty. I thought the service was mean. The pork belly was super delicious - crispy crackling and the brined meat had a great flavour and was succulent. Even enjoyed the artichokes wrapped in ham. The poor mean service made us eat the two plates, each have a drink and left. It’s a shame.

Excellent place to have breakfast! I loved the chocolate croissant, cachito, and well made coffee (cafe con leche). I was welcomed by the kind staff and they were very attentive. There are many tables to seat inside and I enjoyed the atmosphere. Thank you all!

I will start with the service.. it was a bit rude 🙂 but it’s ok .. I just asked the waiter does he speaks English with which I got respond „NO..no!” So I continued in Spanish as I’m still learning it 🙂 the food was good.. the foccacia with chicken was fresh the everything inside was seasoned well. The empanadilla was good not great but good for 2€ and it was big ! The croassant was very good! And combined with the strong coffee it’s a good match for the beginning of the day.

My daughter and I visited this panadería every day after taking classes at Costa de Valencia. The food was good, but our favorite thing about it was the service. Deysi was so kind and was patient with my daughter as she practiced telling her about her food allergies and ordering in Spanish. My daughter insisted that we go every day as a result of her kindness.

This place is truly amazing and very unique. The decoration is incredibly beautiful; the moment you walk in, it gives you a sense of warmth, peace, and very good feelings. Every detail has been thoughtfully considered, and the atmosphere is truly special. The staff are extremely friendly, attentive, and sincere, especially one of the employees, the handsome gentleman who brings such great energy to the atmosphere, made us feel very good. 😊 Everything is very delicious, and the location is also great. It is a place where people can spend enjoyable time, create beautiful memories, and want to come back again and again. I definitely want to experience the atmosphere here in winter as well. I will definitely come back. I wholeheartedly recommend it! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

It's quite crowded for breakfast, you order at the counter and they serve it. The food is tasty, the salmon sandwich is nothing special.

A wonderful cafe in a great classy neighbourhood. The location is great. The design is small but wonderful using the light wooden colours. The coffee is delicious. And the cheese cake that I have tried was so great. Recommended.
Teagan Litten★★★☆☆
The menu here looked unique and really tempting, so I was excited to try breakfast. I ordered the avocado salmon toast, but it didn’t quite meet my expectations, the bread was a bit cold and hard, and overall it felt like it was missing that extra touch of care. If you’re after something simple, this place works, but if you’re looking for a more special breakfast, you might want to explore other options.

Tips for Choosing the Right Cafe Near Mestalla

Because the area around the stadium fluctuates wildly between quiet weekday mornings and chaotic match-day evenings, your coffee strategy needs to change depending on the day. Here are a few expert tips to ensure you get the best seat, the freshest coffee, and the most authentic experience without unnecessary stress.

1. Plan Ahead for Match Days

If Valencia CF is playing at home, the cafes immediately adjacent to the stadium on Avenida de Suècia and Avenida de Aragón will be packed two hours before kickoff. If you want a leisurely coffee, arrive early in the morning or choose a spot a few blocks further away near the University of Valencia campus, where the crowd is less dense.

2. Understand the "Tostada" Culture

Many traditional cafes near Mestalla serve "café con leche" with a half "tostada" (toasted baguette with tomato and olive oil) as a standard breakfast deal. If you want a full brunch, look for cafes advertising "brunch" specifically, as traditional Spanish spots usually only offer pastries and toast, not eggs or pancakes.

3. Look for "Tueste Natural" for Specialty Coffee

If you prefer lighter roasts and latte art over the traditional dark, intense Spanish roast, search for signage that says "Café de Especialidad" or "Tueste Natural." These third-wave shops are more common on Calle Blasco Ibáñez and the side streets leading toward the river, rather than right on the stadium’s main road.

4. Check the Terrace Situation

Valencia is sunny for most of the year, and drinking coffee outdoors is a way of life. However, terraces fill up fast with students during the week. If you need to work on a laptop, ask if the terrace has a time limit or if they allow laptops outside before you order, as some local spots prioritize diners over workers during lunch hours.

5. Carry Cash for Smaller Bars

While most modern cafes and specialty shops near Mestalla accept credit cards and mobile payments, some of the older, family-run bars still operate on a cash-only basis for small purchases. It is always wise to carry a €10 or €20 note with you, especially if you are grabbing a quick espresso at the bar.

The neighborhood surrounding Mestalla is a microcosm of Valencia itself—steeped in tradition yet increasingly embracing modern coffee culture. Whether you choose a historic bar where the waiters shout orders to the kitchen or a minimalist space playing vinyl records, you are experiencing a genuine slice of local life.

Next time you find yourself walking down Blasco Ibáñez with the stadium looming in the distance, skip the generic chains and step into one of these local favorites. A great cup of coffee is the perfect prelude to the roar of the crowd or a quiet afternoon spent soaking up the Mediterranean sun.
