Walking through the halls of the Museo de Bellas Artes in Seville is an immersive journey through Spanish artistic genius, from the somber religious works of Zurbarán to the vibrant local scenes painted by Murillo. After spending a few hours absorbing the rich cultural history housed within this former convent, you will likely find yourself craving a different kind of sensory experience. The area surrounding the museum, located in the vibrant heart of the historic center, is a gastronomic treasure trove waiting to be explored.
Seville is a city that lives on the rhythm of its meals, and baked goods are an essential part of that daily cadence. Whether you are looking for a hearty breakfast to fuel a day of sightseeing, a light lunch between gallery visits, or a sweet treat to accompany a mid-afternoon café con leche, the surrounding streets have you covered. The neighborhood seamlessly blends traditional Andalusian bakeries with modern pastry labs and artisan bread shops.
However, knowing where to find the best pan, the flakiest croissant, or the most authentic local cake can be the difference between a forgettable snack and a memorable culinary moment. That is why we have curated a guide to the finest bakeries within a short walking distance of the museum’s main entrance. We have focused on quality, authenticity, and proximity to ensure you spend less time searching and more time savoring.
From family-run establishments that have been kneading dough for generations to innovative bakers pushing the boundaries of Spanish pastry, this area offers incredible diversity. You will find everything from the savory, lard-based delicacies typical of the region to French-style patisseries that have found a home in the Andalusian capital. The aromas wafting from these storefronts are often enough to pull you inside.
In this guide, we will walk you through the definitive list of the best spots to satisfy your carb cravings near the Plaza del Museo. We have considered not just the flavor of the products, but also the atmosphere, the history, and the service that makes a bakery truly special. Whether you are a tourist seeking the authentic taste of Seville or a local looking for a new favorite spot, this list is designed for you.
Before you set out, it is worth noting that Sevillian eating schedules differ from the rest of Europe. Bakeries often open early to serve breakfast to commuters and close for a few hours in the afternoon before reopening for the evening rush. Planning your visit around these local hours will ensure you get the freshest bread straight from the oven and the widest selection of sweets available.
Now, let us explore the flour-dusted gems that surround one of Spain’s most important art galleries.

Best pastries we tried in Seville. Had the raspberry mascarpone croissant, pan Suisse, chocolate covered hazelnut croissant and pistachio caracol. Beautiful all of them. Will happily return. And the shopkeeper was very affable and helpful.
Liam Corrigan★★★★★
In our top 5 globally. Try the local custard it's delicious with cinnamon and star anise but perfectly balanced so nothing overpowers. We came 2 days in a row and none of the cakes disappointed. Would heartily recommend.

Pastries were quite delicious, had the pistachio and raspberry croissants. Service was too notch very helpful and friendly people there. Highly recommended.

Dulcería Manu Jara was a lovely find and definitely worth the stop. I ordered the pain au chocolat and the pain suisse. The pain au chocolat was my favourite, buttery, flaky, and rich without being overly sweet. The owner was very kind and attentive, which made the visit feel even more personal.
I picked up my pastries to go and later paired them with a double cortado from another spot nearby. Everything tasted incredibly fresh and you can really tell they use quality ingredients. The bakery itself is beautifully decorated, with a high-end display of pastries that shows off their craftsmanship. Just note there is no seating, so it’s more of a takeaway place.
This spot is well known in Seville and you can tell it’s earned its reputation. Others rave about their desserts and the overall experience and I have to agree. If you’re in the Triana neighborhood and want something sweet and authentic, this is a must visit.

Wonderful service and the tastiest pastries. I enjoyed the Pan de Pistachio among others.

Panypiu is a very pleasant spot for breakfast or a light meal. The coffee is excellent, and both the croissant and the sandwich are fresh and tasty, making for a satisfying combination. Overall, it’s a simple but high-quality place that works well for a relaxed start to the day in Seville.

Bakery with delicious and varied food options. We tried the focaccia, pistachio croissant, milk bun and apricot pastry and all were perfect, as was the coffee

Found this place thanks to Google reviews. What a wonderful cafe bakery. First visit to Seville and this cafe and the staff are friendly and helpful. Supportive to you learning Spanish but also speak in English if you get stuck.
We weren’t exactly sure of how to get served at first but approached the counter to wait. A couple of times we were missed but I honestly think that was down to us speaking to each other - so we weren’t interrupted. As soon as we stood with purpose and engaged, made eye contact with staff, we were served.
The food we ordered was wonderful, I had the spinach quiche and OH MY WORD! Out of this world, I’m pretty convinced there was goats cheese in it. Whatever cheese it was it was lush and the texture of the warmed quiche with the salad and balsamic was spot on.
Cappuccino for me. Appletiser and bagel with ham cheese and rocket for my partner. He loved it too. Highly recommended. The interior and atmosphere is also very calming and welcoming. One thing I also love is the thought to add hooks under the table for your belongings. Wish more places in the UK thought to do this.
Facilities include - fully accessible toilet, baby changing space in there and I spotted a highchair too. Everyone is welcome.
Alexander Slipchenko★★★★★
Pretty decent experience overall. Good breakfast options, a lot of nice pastry. English breakfast good, but on a small side of scale. Cards are accepted. In the morning can be pretty hectic - queue is rather unorganized and seating places are pretty scarce.

Panypiu - Bread and much more
The best bakery in Seville! I’ve been trying many croissants almost 4 weeks in Seville.
Among nice bakeries in the city, I found this place as my number one because it has more than just pan 🙂
My favorites were the croissant and pain au chocolat. They are crispy outside, moist inside from enough butter. For me, the chocolate in pain au chocolat was also rich and just right. And the price is reasonable, the size is very generous.
The staffs are so patient and warm- hearted even when it’s too busy which is always.
They are focused on what they should serve. I think the team works very efficiently. I admire their work.
I already became a repeat customer here.
My breakfast time here was the happiest time during my stay in Seville 🙂
I hope all best to everyone who works here. 👍

WOW! What a great find for a little sweet snack on the go. Reasonable price with a huge taste punch. We all loved it from kiddos to adults. They also serve coffee which is fantastic with the pastry. I totally recommend this place!

I used to think I didn't really enjoy Portugese tarts - until I tried these. Phenomenal! Perfect consistency and flavour, a subtle hit of lemon sourness. Complementary cinnamon is provided!

It's a small little place, I love nata so much and it was so good! Maybe even better some natas that I tried in Lisbon. The pastry is quite thin and the amount of creme is a lot which I totally liked it. We didn't have much time to stay in Seville, so we just got it as a take out, and even we tried it like about 30 minutes later it was not cold and still sp crispy. I normally like to have nata with a bit of cinnamon powder, but just original nata is so good so I finished so quick. I definitely recommend this place!

Just like the pastéis de nata I had in Porto. Absolutely delicious. I liked them so much that I ended up stopping by another branch during my trip to get more. Would definitely recommend!

INCREDIBLE. Probably the best egg tarts we've ever had. We end up having it twice on our trip. It's flaky, sweet without being too sweet, perfectly caramelised, not too eggy, not too oily. You know it's amazing when you don't even need cinnamon on it. An easy quick snack to just eat and go, then come back for more!

They open at 10, not 9, but it's worth the wait and coming back for!!
Home made lemonade was sour and fresh, and the tart was still warm, creamy and not too sweet.

I wanted to try some sevillian breakfast and this place was recommended by the hostel staff. It seems to be a popular breakfast place for local people.
The bread was freshly baked, and the ham, olive oil, tomato sauce combination was amazing. The freshly squeezed orange juice was good too.

If you are looking for flaky croissant, this is not the place. It’s more like bread and it was dry. Staff was not friendly, unwelcoming, and touching his facial hair. There was also construction inside, it started as I was eating. You will smell it! I wouldn’t recommend this place. Hope this will improve…

I have been this bakery yesterday and today, and I highly recommend it. The croissants are delicious, both original one and pistachio one. And the staff here are so nice, I especially wanna thank for Lola for her heartwarming service. Yesterday I didn’t pay successfully in the first time, but she told me don’t worry and kindly treat me ^^ I feel so moved by staff here.

I had a fantastic experience here! The cakes were absolutely delicious and the coffee was perfect. What impressed me the most was the portion sizes—they are very generous and offer excellent value for the price. The atmosphere is wonderful, making it a great place to relax, and the service was also very good. Everything we tried was high quality and satisfying. I highly recommend visiting if you’re looking for great treats and a lovely environment.
Canberk Özbaykuş★★★★★
We absolutely loved our breakfast here! The mollete toast was perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside — simple yet full of flavor. The croissants were outstanding, rich with the aroma of real butter and baked to perfection. But the real star was the pistachio croissant — flaky, creamy, and truly unforgettable. Everything tasted fresh and homemade, and you can tell great care goes into every detail. A must-visit spot in Seville for anyone who loves good pastry and bread! 🥐✨

The staff were very rude. They looked tired of the tourists. But they shouldn't forget that they make their money from tourists. They need to be more friendly and respectful. The tables outside were very dirty. Why did you paint the inside of the pistachio croissant green??
We had ordered takeaway, but when the child got tired, we thought it wouldn't be a problem to sit at the dirty tables outside for a short while. A rude woman warned us in a rude tone, "You ordered takeaway, you can't sit here." When I said we could pay if there was a fee, she continued muttering, turned around, and walked away.

El Torno is a tiny little gem tucked away inside Plaza del Cabildo—the commercial gallery right in the heart of Sevilla's city center. Don't let the small size deceive you though, because their pastries are absolutely delicious!
They have a few different flavors to choose from, but we went for the almond with lemon one—which happens to be their most popular—and it was incredible! The combination of flavors was just perfect, and you can tell they put a lot of care into what they make.
If you're passing through Plaza del Cabildo, do yourself a favor and stop by. It's the perfect little treat to enjoy while exploring the city center. Highly recommended! 🥐🍋

A really warm welcome by the man in the shop, who was so patient with my broken Spanish and gave us recommendations. We ordered little cakes that had the best texture and flavour in the world! Marzipan like but not too sweet, soft on the inside, delicious!

Loved this little shop! The person at the counter was lovely with a great big smile. I appreciate that she seemed genuinely interested in helping us. I got one box as a gift and the large assorted box for us to enjoy while in Seville... That was two days ago and we're already finished...! I believe most of them had an almond paste-type center, which I really enjoyed. A bonus of visiting the shop is the beautiful courtyard that surrounds it. Both are a must visit!
Edit: yes, that was me! I don't think Google map users want to see a phot of me 😉

I went here yesterday to grab a Nutella croissant and a sandwich. When I walked in, the women at the front were busy talking to each other and didn’t greet or acknowledge me at all, which was pretty frustrating. I understand I’m a tourist and don’t speak Spanish, but it would have been nice to at least be acknowledged. They kept chatting with the other employees instead of asking what I wanted. I stood there waiting to see if they would eventually ask, but they just kept talking. When a local customer walked in, they immediately said something to him. It also took a long time for them to charge my card—I’m not sure if the older woman was being trained or not.
Unfortunately, the experience got worse. I ate the Nutella croissant fairly quickly, and while it tasted good, it ended up being the only thing I ate that day. Shortly after finishing it, my stomach started feeling queasy. Later, when I got back from shopping, I became very sick—I threw up multiple times and had severe diarrhea. It felt like food poisoning. Because of that experience, I wouldn’t go back.

Lovely cafe with a great offering of affordable food + drinks.
We ordered a cheesecake, a croque madame and the fresh orange juice. As you can expect in Seville, the orange juice was delicious. The cheesecake was also very good, and I appreciated that they didn't called it 'Dubai' anything but just kept it as pistachio. The croque madame came out quickly, super hot and tasty.
They also had free WiFi, which I didn't see in a lot of places I visited, and I appreciated.
The staff were nice and as helpful as possible with the language barrier.
Overall, I'd definitely recommend!

I recently visited Cake and Go in Seville and it was a delightful treat for any sweet lover. I tried their cinnamon cake and it was outstanding with a light crumb and just the right amount of spice, truly one of the best cakes I’ve had in the city. I also tasted one of their cupcakes and it was moist and flavourful, with a creamy frosting that wasn’t overly sweet. The café atmosphere is modern and welcoming, and there’s a small seating area for enjoying your treats with a coffee or iced tea. I paired my cake with a rich espresso that complemented the warmth of the cake beautifully. Prices are quite reasonable, especially for the quality you receive and the generous portions. The staff were friendly and efficient, making the visit feel warm and personal. One small drawback is that it can get busy during brunch hours, but the buzz adds to its charming vibe rather than being a nuisance. Overall Cake and Go offers a perfect blend of traditional baking with fresh, creative touches, making it a must‑visit spot in Seville for a casual coffee break or a special treat.

It's a great place to get something fresh and delicious. I came here for breakfast and it was great. When you want to take away your order, they'll hand you a nice container out of cardboard with a thin wrapper. Great concept and fair prices! I definitely recommend this place.

We ordered a Brownie and Pistachio Cheesecake. The Pistachio Cheesecake was the star. The pistachio flavor came out strong and delish! We had never had something like this before...and we recommend. They warmed the brownie; it was more of a bitter brownie than we are used to. Those behind the counter were friendly and efficient.

I had a fantastic breakfast at Lunula Coffee&Bakery in Seville. For just €15, two of us enjoyed a delicious and satisfying breakfast with freshly baked pastries, excellent coffee, and tasty focaccia. The quality of the ingredients was impressive, and everything tasted fresh and authentic. The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, making it a perfect spot to start the day. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made us feel right at home. Amazing value for money — great food, great coffee, and great service. passed by this place when i was living in sevilla for a month, owner is an amazing friendly guy, you can feel the passion he has for his brand. i tried the pistacho filled croissant first, the croissant was freshly baked and filled up on the spot! it was crispy, delicate, and the filling was creamy and nutty, so so good.
i brought a friend next time and tried the hazelnut croissant and pistachio again lol, we both agreed pistachio was the best! well done!
i recommend going when they are freshly baked, which is right when they open and around 2pm! 🙌

A small but nice breakfast place. They open from 07:00 which is really nice. The prices are reasonable. For a cappuccino, orange juice, focaccia and a croissant I payed 12 euros.

Best croissant in the world! It’s an absolute must and having tried croissants all over the world, it is Seville that is home to the best one yet. I’m sorry Paris, but this one steals the crown! Other pastries and cakes were just ok, nothing special.

Bomba de Naranja was really good, but Tocino de Cielo was way too sweet and it has too much taste of egg (normal thing since it's made mostly of egg yolks, but I didn't know about it). If taste of only egg yolks and a ton of sugar are something you don't have any problem with, you can give it a try. Anyway, for €3 each I ain't even mad I couldn't finish the Tocino.

The pastries are excellent, but what makes this place even more special is the incredibly kind staff.

Hot chocolate was excellent - rich and thick yet not too sweet. The pastry was delicious, light, and went so well with the hot chocolate. Glad we stopped by this place!

Tips for Choosing the Best Bakery Near the Museum
To make the most of your bakery tour near the Museum of Fine Arts, it helps to understand a little about the local baking culture and how to navigate it like a resident rather than a tourist. The sheer number of options can be overwhelming, and a place that looks busy with tourists is not always the place where locals buy their daily bread. By following a few simple guidelines, you can ensure that every euro you spend results in a high-quality bite that reflects the true culinary heritage of Seville. Here are some essential tips to elevate your experience.
Look for Wood-Fired Ovens and Whole Wheat Options
While many modern bakeries use electric convection ovens for convenience and consistency, the traditional Sevillian bakeries still rely on wood-fired stone ovens. These ovens impart a subtle smokiness and a perfectly crisp crust that is nearly impossible to replicate with modern equipment. When peering through the window, look for a dark, cavernous oven in the back. Additionally, while white bread is the standard in Spain, a growing number of artisan bakeries near the museum are now offering whole wheat (integral) and ancient grain loaves. These options are not only healthier but often demonstrate a baker’s commitment to high-quality, slow-fermented dough.
Distinguish Between a Pastelería and a Panadería
Understanding the difference between these two terms is crucial. A panadería specializes in bread (pan), though they may sell a few basic sweets. A pastelería is a pastry shop focused on cakes, tarts, and sweet confections, often selling little to no bread. If you are looking for a sandwich loaf or a rustic sourdough, head to a panadería. If your sweet tooth is calling for a delicate mille-feuille or a rich chocolate cake, you need a pastelería. Many modern shops blur these lines, but the distinction usually dictates what the establishment does best.
Try the Local Specialties First
It is tempting to order a croissant or a baguette because they are familiar, but Seville has a rich repertoire of local baked goods that you should not miss. Look for mollete, a soft, round, flatbread from the nearby province of Málaga that is perfect for toasting and topping with olive oil or lard. You should also sample piononos, small syrup-soaked cylinders, or a traditional tarta de aceite, a flaky, sweet olive oil cracker. By prioritizing the regional specialties, you will get a true taste of Andalusia that you cannot find anywhere else in the world.
Check the Coffee Situation
In Spain, a bakery is often the best place to get a quick, high-quality breakfast, but not all of them have seating or a proper espresso machine. If you plan to sit down and enjoy your pastry, look for a bakery with a cafetería attached. These spots will allow you to order a café con leche or fresh orange juice to accompany your food. If the bakery is strictly a takeaway counter, consider buying your goods and walking the two minutes to the Plaza de Armas or a nearby bench to enjoy them al fresco.
Ask for the "Recién Hecho"
Timing is everything when it comes to baked goods. To ensure you are getting the best possible texture, ask the staff for whatever is recién hecho (freshly made). Bakers usually follow a strict schedule, pulling bread out of the oven in the early morning and sometimes again in the early evening. A pastry that has been sitting in a display case for six hours will be a shadow of its former self. The staff will appreciate your interest in freshness and will usually point you toward the warmest, most recently baked items on the shelf.
Walking through the streets surrounding the Museum of Fine Arts is a feast for the senses, where the visual beauty of the city is matched only by the smell of fresh dough and sugar. Taking the time to stop at one of these local bakeries allows you to participate in a daily ritual that has defined Sevillian life for centuries. It is a chance to sit shoulder to shoulder with locals, dunking a pico into your coffee or savoring the crunch of a perfectly baked loaf.
Whether you need a quick sugar rush before tackling the museum’s collection or a substantial sandwich for a picnic along the Guadalquivir River, the area has something for every appetite. The intersection of art and food in this neighborhood is profound; both require patience, tradition, and a deep respect for quality ingredients. By following this guide, you are ensuring that your cultural tour of Seville is matched by an equally impressive culinary journey.
