12 Best Bakeries and Pastry Shops near the Arc de Triomphe

Between the prestige of the Champs-Élysées and the elegance of the 16th and 17th arrondissements, the area surrounding the Arc de Triomphe is often associated with haute couture and fine dining. Yet for those who prefer their luxury in the form of laminated dough and Valrhona chocolate, this neighborhood is a quiet powerhouse of French baking.

While tourists flock to the monument’s viewing platform, locals are queuing around the corner for a perfectly scored baguette or a glistening, caramelized croissant. The streets radiating from the Étoile hide a remarkable density of award-winning artisans who have dedicated their lives to the science of flour, butter, and fermentation.

Finding a genuinely excellent bakery in a high-traffic tourist zone can be tricky, as many storefronts prioritize convenience over craftsmanship. However, venturing just a block or two away from the main square reveals establishments that have been named among the best in Paris by esteemed culinary guides.

Whether you are starting your morning before a day of sightseeing or looking for an elegant sweet treat after an afternoon of shopping, the vicinity offers a diverse range of options. From modern patisseries pushing the boundaries of design to traditional boulangeries that have kept their wood-fired ovens burning for decades, there is a texture and flavor profile for every palate.

In this guide, we have curated a list of the most exceptional spots within walking distance of the Arc. We have prioritized places that use high-quality ingredients, often sourcing organic flour or churning their own butter, ensuring that what you taste is the pinnacle of French technique.

Because the definition of a "bakery" can range from a simple baguette counter to a high-end dessert boutique, we have included a mix of both boulangeries and patisseries. This ensures you can find exactly what you are craving, whether it is a savory quiche for lunch or a delicate entremet for dessert.

Lace up your walking shoes, bring your appetite, and prepare to discover the buttery, flaky heart of the 8th, 16th, and 17th arrondissements. Here are the best bakeries and pastry shops near the Arc de Triomphe.

We were in Paris for 10 days, and we got food from here every day. The service is warm and friendly, kindly answering all of our questions. And the food was fantastic. We tried cookies, and pastries, and croissants. We tried all the different sandwiches too. And of course, the baguettes. It was all delicious. Also, the boulangerie was always busy with locals, to me a true sign of quality. Thank you for helping to make our stay in Paris even better.

Boulangerie Julambre was truly a phenomenal experience from start to finish. The moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt warm, inviting, and authentic. You can immediately tell this is the kind of place where passion for food and hospitality comes first. The aroma of fresh bread and homemade dishes fills the restaurant and makes you excited before you even sit down. The service was fantastic throughout the entire visit. The staff was welcoming, attentive, and genuinely kind. They made us feel comfortable right away and took the time to explain menu items and offer recommendations. It is rare to find a restaurant where the service feels this personal and sincere. Every interaction felt professional while still being warm and friendly. The food was absolutely delicious. Everything tasted fresh, homemade, and prepared with care. You can tell the ingredients are high quality and the recipes are authentic. From the fresh bread and pastries to the main dishes, every bite was full of flavor. The presentation was beautiful, but more importantly, the taste was unforgettable. It had that comforting homemade quality that makes a meal feel special instead of rushed or commercial. What stood out the most was the consistency of the experience. Great food alone is not enough, and great service alone is not enough, but Boulangerie Julambre delivered both at an exceptionally high level. It is the kind of restaurant you look forward to visiting again before you even leave. If you appreciate authentic homemade food, excellent customer service, and a welcoming atmosphere, this place is absolutely worth visiting. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a memorable dining experience.

We tried the croissant with strawberry and the one with raspberry. They were very nice and really instagrammable. 🙂 I would recommend this place for a quick breakfast/brunch if you are nearby.

What a charming and beautiful Boulangerie the people are very kind and the pastries we absolutely delicious! If you get the chance you absolutely have to try the strawberry croissant!

We discovered a real gem in Paris. From the moment you walk into Boulangerie Julambre, you realize this isn't just another industrial production line, but a family business with a huge soul. The pastries? Simply a celebration of flavors. Every bite is a perfect combination of explosive crunchiness on the outside and delightful softness on the inside - you can truly feel that every croissant and pastry was handmade with so much love. The quality is exceptional, even by Parisian standards! But what truly won us over was the service. We happened to visit both at the start of the day and right at the very end, and we received exactly the same amazing level of service - always with a big smile, patience, and a welcoming feeling that makes you feel at home. A must, must, must visit. This place is the reason we love Paris. ❤️🥐🥖

One of kind places for a fresh baked bread 🥖 in all kind of French style. The service and having your favorite baked goods are in good taste. People working here are friendly enough to have your plate with passion and enthusiasm. The atmosphere was great as well. The place is Ben having a great shape of being clean from the people who’ve worked there at the heavily shifted environment. My special gratitude to Mr. AbdulRahman Bo Rashid. For recommendations to visit this place.

We did enter because of the long line and thought it was a good idea and it was indeed. Large portions of the bakery goods - sandwiches and pastries, very tasty coffee. Perfect spontanious brunch. Will come back later to taste more!

My wife and I have travelled around quite a few european countries and we both agree that this place made the best butter croissant we've ever had. We didn't have anything else, but it all looked great in the display. Very well presented! But, the only thing I can really comment on is the croissant. So if you want a top quality croissant in Paris, stop here!

After a coffee break and a leisurely walk through the city on a rainy Parisian day, I couldn’t resist stopping for pastries to fully experience the city’s sweet side. This bakery was already on my list, and it absolutely delivered. I chose two classics: a baguette and the iconic baba au rhum. Stepping inside felt like entering a gateway to happiness. The aroma of freshly baked baguettes and pastries fills the space instantly—an unforgettable sensory experience, especially in Paris. The pastries seemed to call out from the display, impossible to ignore, and the baba au rhum lived up to its promise with every bite. It was so exceptional that I may find myself returning to Paris just for it. The baguette was equally impressive—crispy, flavorful, and without question the best I’ve ever had. The service was warm, professional, and welcoming, adding to the overall experience. A fantastic spot, rightly rated, and truly worth every penny.

A short walk from the RER station. The lemon tart was exquisite. A nice little park just outside the door with a statue

After some days at Disneyland Paris I went out to visit the Eiffel tower and I couldn't leave with out trying a cake, so I found La Patisserie Cyril Lignac as the nearest patisserie near me so I bought the Tarte Aux Framboises which is a raspberry tart, and it was delicious. Maybe a bit expensive but everything in Paris is expensive so nothing to complain about.
M. H.★★★★★
i'm absolutely in love with this place it was recommended to us by some locals with the warning it's on the pricier side but for the quality i actually think it's very cheap, i would expect to pay twice as much for what they are creating here we went in the morning and the croissants were still warm, the bread was delicious and the selection was incredible, truly something for every flavour and every need there is a park not too far away, get some bread, buy some cheese and meats nearby and have a little picnic please come here and give it a try
nadine kabbara★★☆☆☆
I used to come here to get some of my favourite patisseries. However, today was disappointing. I had the tarte vanille tonka and the noisette, both of which did not taste fresh. The creme on the noisette was very thick with some discoloration probably due to being old. The tarte tonka was also not at all fresh with the tart base being nowhere close to ‘croustillante’. I also found the chocolate cake inside the tarte very dry. For 7,5 euros a piece and from Cyril Lignac, I expect nothing less than very fresh and daily made patisserie quality and it definitely was not the case ….

If I could rate this six stars I would! Best damn butter croissants in Paris. Excellent Pain au chocolat, Almond chocolate croissants and baguettes too. We tried many other boulangeries, but kept coming back here.

This is a wonderful little boulangerie with a large variety of beautifully presented and delicious pastries and cakes. My partner and I visited during our trip to Paris. This was the first place we actually went to go eat, and what a lovely introduction to Parisian cuisine. We both had the roulés pistache et chocolat; it was amazing. Probably the best pastry I have ever had. The staff were really nice and friendly. Despite my French not being the best, they understood me just fine and repeated things in English when I seemed unsure. I will definitely be coming back here when I visit Paris again, and would highly recommend it to anyone passing through.

If you are craving for a French croissant 🥐 or a baguette 🥖- this place have it all! Desserts; breads; croissants….so French of them. Crusty on the outside and tender inside! Went twice for my daily dose of croissants and love it. There are always a queue but staff is nice and efficient!

Agree with all the different reviews here. This is our best boulangerie de quartier. In Paris, a bakery usually aces either the bread, or the patisserie. To find a boulangerie that aces both is rare. BOM does it. The baguette with grain is as delicious as a cake. Crunchy crust, yet very soft and melt easily. Viennoiseries are always fresh, crunchy, and well dosed. Their patisserie is excellent. Even the yearly galette de roi was excellent. The cherry on the cake: the Korean couple running this bakery are very courteous and kind. They once opened after closing time to sell me some bread. You never get this treatment in Paris. Their secret: this is a boutique artisanal bakery run by their owners. I think the baker is also the owner. Across the street, there is a highly advertised boulangerie chain that I never step my foot into. Thanks god we have BOM as a great alternative. My daughter passes every morning to get her Pain au chocolat for breakfast, croque-monsieur for lunch, and cookies for dessert. She calls it the best boulangerie in Paris. I call it the best in the neighborhood. Stay tuned: will share photos soon

Found this gem during our first walk after landing and decided to pop in as we saw all the locals lining. We probably looked quite confused as to what to choose because the options were crazy! But everyone was getting a baguette sandwich so we gave it a try and was very pleasantly surprised!!! The panini was also wonderful. The owners were very kind.

Super friendly korean owner who kindly spoke English with me & helped me decide whether to get chocolate or coffee flavoured cream puff (chocolate!) 🙏the pastry was so delicious I finished it within 3 bites once I stepped out of the store🥹

Amazing staff, very patient with us trying to speak French, they also speak very good English! Pastries were amazing, seating outside with a coffee in a quieter area first thing in the morning was a great start to the day. If you’re in the area you should try this place Thank you for making a valuable memory to our trip to Paris

Bread and pasties are tasty and fresh, owners are nice and the place is unpretentious. If you love authentic French pasties for a fraction of the price? Please visit this small patisserie! Also a very nice walk before the city awakens. Definitely a must try.

Delicious pastries and lovely service at Léonie! Léonie has a few locations in Paris, and it’s a wonderful bakery. During this visit, I picked up a croissant, a pain au chocolat, and a Basque cheesecake. I’ve been really into Basque cheesecake lately, and the one here was incredible—rich, creamy, and full of deep cheese flavor! The staff were super friendly and patient while I was deciding what to get, which made the whole shopping experience really enjoyable. I’m so glad I stopped by and can’t wait to go back!
Tommy★★★★★
On the last day of our trip, we were looking for a local bakery and came across Leonie. I went in and bought a traditional baguette, which had just come out of the oven and was still warm and fresh. It was so good that I went back 10 minutes later and bought another baguette made with a mix of flours. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. Both baguettes were absolutely delicious, and honestly the best I’ve ever had. We took them to the airport along with some local cheese and enjoyed them before our flight home. A perfect way to end our trip. Highly recommended!

A must-visit breakfast spot in Paris! The famous hot chocolate absolutely lives up to the hype—rich, velvety, and perfectly paired with a fresh buttery croissant and sweet strawberries. The avocado toast was fresh and delicious, and the chocolate crêpe with ice cream was a huge hit with the kids. The onion soup was outstanding. Elegant atmosphere, excellent service, and a truly memorable Parisian breakfast. Highly recommended!

Carette was truly one of the highlights of our time in Paris! From the moment we sat down, everything felt so chic and charming. The atmosphere is absolutely beautiful classic Parisian elegance with the cutest details everywhere you look. The food and drinks were amazing. The pastries were fresh and perfectly made, and their famous hot chocolate was rich, creamy, and unforgettable. Everything looked as good as it tasted! We ordered so much and loved every single bite. Sitting outside and enjoying the Parisian vibe made it even more special. It felt like such a dreamy experience the perfect place to relax, talk, and soak in the city. If you’re in Paris and want a café that feels both iconic and cozy, Carette is a must. We loved it so much and would go back in a heartbeat! 💕✨

Had a great experience at Café Carette. There was a line when we arrived, but it moved pretty fast so the wait wasn’t bad at all. The vibe is super cozy and feels very classic Parisian. The café food itself was just okay, but the hot chocolate was amazing — especially with the croissant and whipped cream. Definitely the highlight. The strawberries were good too, but nothing too special. Overall, a really nice experience and worth visiting for the atmosphere and hot chocolate alone.
Jesse Armijo★★★★★
A brunch experience like a true Parisian. We enjoyed their Signature brunch which was accompanied with thick and pure Hot Chocolate, eggs, parfait with blue berries and granola and fresh juice of your choice - grapefruit for us. We couldn’t believe how manicured each little dish was. We also got the roasted potatoes, and they were a buttery delight.
Zain foodie★★★★★
Charming Parisian café with a classic atmosphere and a prime Trocadéro location. The crêpes were light and delicious, especially with fresh berries, and the hot chocolate was rich and comforting. A lovely spot for a relaxed breakfast or dessert.

Great place to have breakfast and brunch!!! This bakery has many reasons to be voted for 5 stars: - Great variety of pastries (Try the almond croissant) - Vintage environment reminding something from old Paris times - Great location near the Eiffel Tower - The staff is very kind and helpful - There are tables to eat in, which is something you can’t find easily in Paris - Fresh & tasty bread baguette It was my first experience eating in Paris and I am happy for that!

First off the ladies at the counter were quite rude, they laughed at us when we didn’t understand something they said, and we asked them what was in one of their pastries and they barely answered super vaguely. The cappuccino didn’t taste like coffee and the hot chocolate wasn’t good. Prices were decent and the pastries were good. Place is cute though.

Tasty coffee, wide choice of pastries, nice vibe, they put our croissants on dirty board, not even on a napkin. No WC. Eclaires are not in the refridgerator.

The best croissant I have had in a long long long long time. So light and flakey and melt on your mouth with a nice crust. Even the tea black tea was very flavourful. Nice small spot hidden in the corner. Must visit if you on the area. Flavoured croissant also available!!

Extremely tasty Bakery items here. Had Chocolate & Butter Croissants.. along with Pistachio Rolle’ . Haven’t tasted better than those in Paris! Great Cozy ambiance 😊

Tried Belen after seeing the high reviews. I ordered the cheese croissant which was served heated, but unfortunately it was a little burnt and not the best croissant I tried during the trip. That said, the coffee was very lovely and the staff were extremely friendly, welcoming and chatty, which made the experience enjoyable overall. I would definitely go back and try another croissant or pastry as I don’t want the cheese croissant alone to judge the place.
Sarah★★★★★
I tried pastries at Belen in Paris and honestly I was not ready for how good they were. With every single pastry I tried, I kept saying okay this is my top one. And then I would try the next one and say the exact same thing again. That is how good everything was. The last pastry I tried was their custard tart. It was hands down the best tart I have ever eaten. The custard was perfect, the pastry was crisp, and everything just worked. It was so good that we ended up buying two more just to bring back to England. We also had a cappuccino and a hot chocolate. I really liked that they used dark chocolate for the hot chocolate, so it was rich and not overly sweet. The cappuccino was great too, and I appreciated that they offer alternative milk options. The staff were also very lovely, which made the experience even better. It was really nice chatting with them and having them explain each pastry. You could tell they genuinely cared and were proud of what they were serving. Now that I am back, I already know that the next time I am in Paris I am definitely stopping by Belen again to stock up and bring more pastries home. Every bite felt special, and you can really tell how much care goes into what they make. If you love pastries, this place is a must.🤍
Marcos Garcia★★★★★
A true Parisian gem of a bakehouse. After disappointing tourist trap cafes I searched out this place and was not disappointed. The pastries are so light and fluffy with delicate flavours letting the pastry sing. A really good coffee as well definitely a must try if you’re looking for authentic Parisian bakery with charm.

The crust is crispy and the inside is fragrant with butter, the butter is rolled thinly through each piece of dough. It can be said that this is the best crossaint cake I have ever eaten, don't miss the cheese crepe with stir-fried tomatoes, it's extremely delicious.

Best croissants I have had so far in Paris! Super nice French owner who is also the baker plus works behind the front desk. He has been here for many years and restaurants come to him for deliveries. For visitors wanting the experience of traditional French bakery, this is the place. (He also speaks English).
Tatu Adrian★★★★★
Best croissant of my life! While trying to hide from the pouring heavy spring rain I ran across what looked like a small not that fancy looking place. But something about it felt warming and I went in. I was told the tales of "you never had a croissants if you did not have one in Paris". I was not expecting much as this placed did not look fancy, and I thought ok, first time it will be ok, I am sure I will have many more that will be amazing, but I was wrong. Nothing cane close the beauty of this croissant! Other places I tried felt blunt, either not crusty or not fluffy enough. The old man running this place is a master baker. Now only one thing keeps me alive in London, the thought that I want to go back and try the rest of his things, can't wait!

This was a cute little place with great selection of pain au chocolat and lot of other patisseries and drinks. We got great service as the person was very attentive and suggested good options.. Lovely place. We tried pain au chocolat and chocolate éclairs and both were amazing.

A lovely bakery we tried a few times during our trip to Paris because of its proximity to the hotel. The bread with raisins was fantastic, and the citron dessert was excellent, as were the raspberry items.

My go to daily bakery. Evening baguettes Tradition are out just before 4pm. Baguette cereal only in the mornings - don’t get them for the evening. Staff speaks English but please start with a Bonjour. Fresh tarts/pies are displayed cut and displayed whole. Get those as they are made that day. Other tarts are kept on the shelf’s until it is sold and can sit for a few days in the open. Lunch lines are long but move fast. Make sure you take a look at what you want before getting in line. Breakfast lines can be long between 9 and 10am but moves fast.

We stayed at a hotel very close to this bakery, so we bought croissants, baguettes and coffee for several days. Everything was very fresh and delicious!!! The lady who served us was very friendly. We ordered in English and had no problems. It would be great if there were some tables and chairs at the place too.

Essential Tips for Enjoying Bakeries Near the Arc de Triomphe

To make the most of your culinary exploration around this bustling area, it helps to know a few unwritten rules of Parisian bakery culture. From timing your visit to understanding the difference between a boulangerie and a patisserie, a little local knowledge goes a long way in ensuring you get the freshest, most authentic experience possible. Here are some key strategies to elevate your tasting journey.

Understand the Terminology
In France, a "Boulangerie" specifically refers to a shop that makes its bread on-site and is subject to strict laws regarding ingredients. A "Patisserie" focuses on sweet pastries and cakes. Many shops are both, but if you are looking for the best bread, ensure the sign says "Artisan Boulanger."

Go Early for Bread, Later for Pastries
The baking schedule is precise. Baguettes and croissants are typically at their absolute peak of crispness and airy texture between 7:00 AM and 10:00 AM. If you are visiting in the afternoon, you will have better luck with cakes, tarts, and viennoiserie that have been baked in a second batch or hold their moisture well.

Ask for "Bien Cuite"
If you love a deeply caramelized, darker crust with a more pronounced nutty flavor, ask for a baguette "bien cuite" (well-baked). If you prefer a softer, paler crust, ask for "pas trop cuite." Locals often have a strong preference, and bakers are happy to accommodate.

Carry Cash and Bring Your Own Bag
While many modern shops near the Champs-Élysées accept credit cards, small transactions under a few euros are often smoother with cash. Additionally, carrying a small reusable tote bag is standard practice in Paris and helps you avoid plastic bag fees while keeping your pastries from getting crushed.

Eat on the Go or Find a Nearby Park
Most bakeries have limited or no seating. The proper way to enjoy a croissant is often standing at the counter with a coffee or walking. For a more relaxing experience, grab your purchases to-go and walk a few minutes to the quieter residential streets of the 16th arrondissement, or find a bench on the Avenue Foch to enjoy your treats with a view.

The area around the Arc de Triomphe is far more than a traffic circle; it is a gateway to some of the most refined baking in the capital. By stepping away from the souvenir shops and following the scent of butter and toasted wheat, you will find the true taste of Parisian daily life.

Whether you choose a simple, blistered baguette to tear apart with your hands or an architectural slice of patisserie perfection, these artisans offer a delicious education in French gastronomy. Take your time, try a variety of textures, and appreciate the centuries of tradition that go into every single crumb.
