12 Best Asian Restaurants in Colmar

Nestled along the Alsace Wine Route, Colmar is often described as a living fairy tale, with its half-timbered houses, flower-lined canals, and cobblestone lanes. Yet beyond its architectural charm and world-class vineyards lies a surprisingly dynamic culinary scene. For food lovers, the city offers a fascinating intersection of French gastronomy, German heritage, and a growing wave of international flavors.

Asian cuisine, in particular, has carved out a significant and beloved niche in this historic town. From steaming bowls of authentic pho to meticulously crafted sushi and spicy Thai curries, Colmar proves that you do not need to be in a major metropolis to enjoy exceptional Eastern cooking. The demand for fresh ingredients, umami-rich broths, and balanced spices has led to a flourishing of quality establishments.

Finding the right spot can be tricky, as the tourist-heavy old town often hides the true gems frequented by locals. Whether you are a resident looking to switch up your weekly routine or a visitor needing a break from tarte flambée and choucroute, this guide is designed to help. We have evaluated the quality of ingredients, authenticity of flavors, and consistency of service to bring you the definitive list.

Understanding the local palate is key; the best restaurants here often blend traditional Asian techniques with the high-quality produce found in the Alsace region. This creates a dining experience that is both respectful of the source cultures and uniquely local. You will find chefs who are passionate about their craft, often serving dishes that rival those found in larger French cities.

In this curated guide, we explore the 12 best Asian restaurants in Colmar. We have focused on venues that offer not just a meal, but a memorable experience, whether you are looking for a quick, satisfying lunch or an elegant dinner.

Here is our selection of the top establishments to satisfy your cravings for Eastern cuisine in the heart of Alsace.

This is one of the best Japanese restaurants I’ve been to. Will definitely come back again. It is also really nice that the menu is on an iPad and you can order whatever and whenever you want. The quantity is large and nice as good as the quality. The atmosphere is chill and nice . They have very nice decorations. The bathroom is very clean too 🤩

I was impressed that a place like Colmar has such an amazing Asian restaurant. The place itself is spotless and quite fancy. I reallt enjoyed the vibe of the restaurant. The staff is very friendly, but it's the abundance of choice and the quality that this restaurant delivers, that really blew me away. At Suki you really get both quantity and quality. I would definitely go again to try their ramen, because that looked great too!

We went there twice. The first time we ordered beef ramen gyoza and beef stick thing. All was so good. I could not finish the ramen it was too much for me but it was delicious. Chicken gyoza was also good my bf loved it. The second time we tried bento 4 it was very satisfying. It had a lot on it. Sushi was not the best but okey. Then we tried meatball, beef cheese sticks they were so good. The place decoration is also nice. I recomend there.

We had a wonderful experience here. The sushi was incredibly fresh, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the service was friendly. We truly enjoyed our time here and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for excellent sushi and a great lunch experience.

Amazing food highly executed in a very cool part of town. The service was great considering they were very busy as well. Modern ordering by tablet and drinks are very well made too. Highly recommended and family friendly.

A charming place run by a very kind gentleman. He is so kind, he greeted us with a traditional Indian namaste. Spring rolls and steamed dumplings were piping hot and awesome. Prawns in spicy sauce was delicious. The red curry was flavorful and not too spicy. The dessert, coconut custard in banana leaf, took the cake. It was light and refreshing.

This is a very good Thai restaurant with well-balanced flavors and a wide variety of dishes. We ordered a total of 10 dishes, and everything was delicious. The omelet was especially good, and the mango sticky rice is a must-try. I recommend making a reservation in advance, as it can be difficult to get a table without one. The atmosphere is nice with spacious, uncrowded seating. The restaurant is clean, and the service is good.

This Thai restaurant was a breath of fresh air—friendly staff, quick service, and tasty dishes. A stark contrast to the unwelcoming vibe at many French spots in the city center. The papaya salad was flavorful, though a bit more crab would’ve been nice, one small leg was not enough. And maybe ease up on the “churros”— the artificial food additive to make food more tasty. 🙏 Overall, a great experience. We’ll be back!
Wipada Jarupornsombat★★★☆☆
The only thing impressive that I order here is the spring rolls. They are freshly made (not that kind of frozen precooked food). Nothing too special about their Pad Thai. Not as authentic as I would have expected. Missing ingredients include dried shrimps, tofu, sweet preserved radish, not to mention that their noodle is really soggy. Service-wise, sth is left to be desired. The older male staff with glasses is a bit abrupt. He kind of rushes us through picking a menu with in 5 minutes of entering the restaurant by foisting upon us the menu of the day. It could have been nicer though!
Franco Troiano★★★★☆
Muang Thai is a classic Thai town, very very quiet, beautiful sea and beaches, but too quiet, there is no nightlife and the few local restaurants close very early

So good we came back a second time (in the five nights we were in Colmar). The amok khmer is outstanding (I had salmon)... so much so that after I had it on oir first visit my husband had to have it on second visit. I also really liked the lort cha (I had with beef). Taro rice and caramelised bananas a sweet way to finish off our dinner. The service was lovely and friendly. Shame we don't live closer... we'll be back when we next visit Colmar.
Marja Versleijen★★☆☆☆
The food was low quality to our opinion. Not very tasty. We had the Beef in pepper sauce and the stir fried noodles with shrimps and vegetables. The Singha beer is excellent. The service was OK, but nobody asked if we liked the food and if everything was OK. We don’t recommend this restaurant for dinner.
Haruna★★★★★
Very authentic phở with beef, meatball, basil and culantro veggie. They also have Thai dishes like satay chicken. A perfect place for a group who want both authentic Vietnamese dish and other Asian food like Thai. The staff and owner are friendly too. If you prefer quality over quantity, this is the place.

We went to this Restaurant last night and had a truly unique and exceptionally well crafted experience. Everything just emanates the love, these hosts put into the place. From the Menu, with Japanese cuisine fused with Alsatian heritage, it is not only unique, but carries conviction and is something that you truly won't find anywhere else. The wine menu is a great collection, the drinks unique and the service is just perfect. I would go out of my way to eat here again. Thanks a lot for the dinner! Sofia and Kevin

Great cost restaurant for date night. Very friendly staff serving Japanese food. They offered us a small cold homemade tea followed by a very small bit of gazpacho. Food does take a while so only come here with people you want to hang out with. I would come back. The food is good but nothing special.

Love this new place!! Curated with elevated and artful design and love; my new favorite restaurant in Colmar (sorry Jy’s)!!! This is the perfect fusion of French/Japanese bringing together what I love best of both worlds. Such care and enthusiasm bring this labor of love to life. Everything is very well thought out, from service to gastronomy. The timing and delivery of each dish was to perfection, indicative that every detail is taken into consideration to make the dining experience memorable and personal. Lots of fun and cool beverage options and knowledgeable wine selections. 🙌❤️🔥 Gambatte ne!!

Highly recommended - We had a lovely evening in the 5S slightly off the main road. It's a small local, so don't forget to book your table ahead of time. The food was amazing and the staff very friendly and attentive to allergies. Loved the Miso-Soup and the Bao Buns! Thank you for a lovely dinner.
Asaf Benjaminov★☆☆☆☆
We had a highly frustrating experience at Le 5s. While the outdoor porch area was full, the inside of the restaurant was completely empty. Despite this, we were seated right next to the bathroom in an uncomfortably hot, stuffy indoor dining room and largely ignored. To be fair, the food that we actually managed to eat—aside from the mains—was not bad at all; the starters tasted good. However, the service completely ruined the evening. The waiter didn't write down our order, and predictably, our starters arrived with mistakes and less food than we ordered. Despite pointing this out, the missing food never arrived. Meanwhile, the waiters went outside to smoke multiple times. At one point, our child found some child-friendly training chopsticks to play with, and the staff took the entire jar from the chopatick table, despite there being no other kids inside. We arrived at 19:40, got starters around 20:10, and our main dishes didn't arrive until 20:50. We ordered three duck dishes, and all of them arrived cold. Because of the cooking level combined with being cold, they were completely inedible. When I called over the waiter with the ponytail, he was shocked. He took the plates away, only to return moments later to disrespectfully tell us that the food "wasn't cold to him." When I told him we didn't want anything else because we had already waited over an hour, he got angry and snapped that it took an hour "because there were starters." We received zero apology and no compensation. To top it off, they got the bill wrong and charged us for the starter we never received. The kitchen has potential, but the disrespectful service, terrible timing, and cold mains made this a awful night out.

We visited Kitsune & Tanuki for brunch and it was an absolute delight from start to finish. We were lucky enough to sit in the beautiful garden, which is a peaceful retreat, thoughtfully decorated with a lovely mix of plants including bonsai and hydrangeas. The seating is comfortable and the whole space feels pretty and well curated. The service was attentive and warm, making us feel genuinely welcomed throughout our visit. For food, we ordered the matcha crepe cake and the croissant waffle with vanilla ice cream and maple syrup, both paired with coffee. Everything was delicious. The food and concept is exactly the kind of thing you’d stumble across in Singapore, where Asian inspired cafes with creative menus and aesthetics are part of everyday life. We didn’t expect to find anything like this in Colmar and it was such a wonderful surprise! Beyond the garden, the interior is equally worth exploring, beautifully Japanese inspired in both its decor and seating, and doubling as a little shop selling unique Japanese stationery and charming knick knacks. It’s the sort of place where you want to linger, browse, and soak it all in.
Hana Marčetić★★★★★
Amazing experience! We were lucky to get in without reservation, but definitely recommend calling ahead - people were turned away for lack of space without booking in advance. Take your time here, taking the tea on tatami was so much fun, and they can do the matcha ceremony for you as well! Lovely aesthetic interior, and just overall a nice vibe
Lawkaanat★★★★★
We stopped by this Japanese Tea House on a rainy day, and it was the perfect cozy escape. We had the ramen with French pork (not chashu) in a soy milk broth — rich, creamy, and exactly what you want on a chilly day. The special tea called “Night at Versailles” was amazing — beautifully aromatic, slightly sweet, and so comforting. Their caramel pudding is adorable (and kind of funny to eat) — it instantly puts you in a good mood. The interior is IG-worthy, with lovely décor and a few traditional Japanese-style floor seats that make it feel authentic and peaceful. In the stillness of the garden, a Kitsune revealed itself — a messenger of spirit and change, reminding us that magic often hides in plain sight. The staff were so friendly and sweet! I tried speaking to them in Japanese since I don’t speak French — but in the end, we all switched to English and laughed about it 😂. Such a warm, welcoming place — we’d definitely come back again! ******* Note: Location is just 2 min walk from "Colmar Tourism Office"
quốkkà★★★★★
The best matcha latte I've had in Europe. The mille-crepes is also very full of flavor, the perfect balance between the cream and matcha. If you're a matchaholic definitely try this spot out.
Melanie Mengüş★★★★★
The most magical coffee shop of Colmar! It is located in a quiet street inside a beautiful house. It's a cozy and modern Japanese tea room that also serves savoury food for lunch like ramen. But I only tried the sweet food and drinks. I had the matcha mousse which was shaped in a bunny and served with a berry coulis. It was light but tasty! My Husband had the dango which is a kind of mochis served on a skewer. It was intriguing but good. The black sesame latte was good too but the Sakura tea was amazing. However, I suggest you to book online before your visit because it's really busy. We visited on a Saturday afternoon without a reservation and we were lucky to have the last table. We came all the way from the UK so we would have been disappointed if we couldn't have a table.

Great variety of food options with something for everyone. The quality of the ingredients was excellent, and everything tasted fresh. We were a group of six (four adults and two kids), and everyone found something they liked and was very happy with their meal.

A big all you can eat restaurant with lots of choices. However, we discovered the cherries were moldy and flies around the strawberries. Lobsters, oysters and more were available.
Damien Mc Sweeney★★★★★
Absolutely loved this crazy place .... where else would you get airplanes and robots in an Asian style buffet. The choice of food in the buffet .. everything from Spring rolls to Shusi... was outstanding with the option of picking raw fish and steaks and bringing them up to the chef to cook to order. There is also an extensive alcohol menu (charged separately). It was a great experience
Ruby★★★★☆
Giant buffet with lots of choices, but sometimes questionable freshness. Many of the "hot" dishes were barely even warm, so stay away from those if you value your health! Big buffet of cheeses from Metro (which they aren't even trying to hide). Particular highlight: the beef bone marrow. Particular lowlight: The flavorless and questionably fresh tuna.
Luca Pozzi★★★★★
Airlunch is hands-down the most unusual yet unexpectedly luxurious all-you-can-eat buffet I’ve ever visited. My family, visiting from Hong Kong, was stunned by the sheer variety — from giant crab legs and succulent lobster to an array of beautifully prepared dishes from around the world. The quality is far beyond what you’d expect from a buffet, with fresh, vibrant flavors in every bite. The atmosphere is lively but comfortable, and the thoughtful addition of a kids’ play area meant the adults could savor their meals at leisure. It’s rare to find a buffet that delivers both indulgence and fun for the whole family — Airlunch nails it.

Food was okay, but mostly regular stuff for a wok. Most of it was the right temperature. Sadly a lot of dishes were not stocked enough. Often, there were empty spots. Staff did not speak English sadly. Price was good, €50 for 2 persons and 2 drinks. Free parking in front of the restaurant. The restaurant was nearly empty from 18:45 till 20:00 on a Wednesday.

Great all-you-can-eat Asian buffet. + Great variety of dishes (especially shrimp, I love it!); + Awesome choice of dessert (including fresh fruit); + Good price; + Decent sushi; + Nice atmosphere, with a small fish tank and lots of Asian motifs; + Plenty of space (even on a Saturday); + Nothing to complain about the service either; I don't really have anything negative to say about this place. For this money, there is enough decent food of a sufficient variety to satisfy both parents and kids, especially after a round of shopping in Decathlon, which is just across the street.

It was the best 👌 place to eat as an African in Colmar city in France. I loved every bite and would do it again and again whenever I visit. 😋
Michael Diongson★★★★★
Given it’s price of 20EUR (Friday dinner), it seems to be reasonable for a buffet. Variety of Asian food and comes with different desserts too. The quality of food is fine. The atmosphere was fine, less people for a buffet. The servers are nice and very welcoming.
Sander Janssen★★★★★
Very nice all-you-can-eat wok restaurant with a good price/quality ratio. For a fixed price, in our case 18.5 EUR pp on a Tuesday evening, you can eat from the buffet unlimitedly. The buffet is smaller than the average wok restaurant, yet quite complete. Would definitely recommend this restaurant if you're very hungry or with just a group of friends who are all big eaters

Wide selection but food just average, not delicious to be honest.

Smells immediately like seafood when you walk in. Well laid out and simple to navigate, wide selection divided into cuisine styles, including wok bar at the back. Food is very good, especially the crab, fish and lobster. Very good value compared to nearby other place K which limits you to 5 dishes per person.

Huge All you can eat restaurant. Big choice of fish and seafood. Big choice of Sushi, meat dishes, fried food and desserts, too. Generally good quality and taste. Maybe i was a bit unlucky because i probably caught a prawn, which was not fresh anymore and caused belly ache and therefore i spent a lot of time on the toilet. Nevertheless i would give it a second chance. On saturday evening it was extremely full. Reservation definitely recommended as it is popular

There are many choices of foods. It is a Buffet. The foods are delicious. You can let them cook it fresh for you at the wok Station. Staffs there are very friendly. You can go there without a Reservation. The Drink is not included. You have to order seperately. I would visit there more often, if it is located near an City.

A small sushi spot in Colmar with a standard ambiance. We tried the maki, chicken karaage, beef rice bowl, and beer—all decent and up to standard. However, the service was quite slow as the staff seemed busy, making it hard to get their attention or settle the bill.
Duha Haj Yahya★★★★☆
Very good food, awesome, quick, and kids friendly service. The place is casual and very clean. We had multiple sushi combinations, and all were great. The presentation could be better, but overall, it is recommended. Prior reservations are needed even if it's not peak tourist season.

I've had dinner in this place, and sincerely I didn't enjoy it. The sushi wasn't bad but not what I expected. The salmon was elevated and not from the sea. It's not the best quality. The restaurant didn't even have music. It was really quite like a bit strange. The service was good. The waiter was friendly, but overall, I didn't like it.

Well, an eatery rather than a restaurant. But as also in highly frequented places like Colmar, the restaurants close (for meals) in the afternoons, we had no choice. And although the owners are Chinese, they have adopted that lack of friendlyness and respect for the guest by saying rather directly, up to unfriendly that we must hurry with our choice because the kitchen will close soon. Well, the Sushi was okay, nothing less but nothing more. Be it for the food, the atmosphere or the permanent lack of smiles and friendlyness although I speak French, we will not visit that place anymore.

I came here because I was craving fiber in the form of vegetables. I got the chicken rice bowl, beef ramen, and vegetable stir fry. They were all very tasty! I do wish they added more pieces of meat to the ramen and rice bowl, but the price is reasonable. The staff are all very friendly! The restaurant itself is very clean and open. I think they more takeout than dine-in, so there is a lot of room. The service is quick.

A restaurant experience I will remember for years! My husband and I celebrated our 8-year anniversary at this restaurant. Start to finish, everything was simply incredible. The flavors and dishes were incredibly creative--and each plate was a culinary experience of the highest caliber that delighted the senses. Never before have I had cod with a savory, umami-packed sauce with morel mushrooms. It was a complete surprise but Chef Lucas pulled the unlikely ingredients together flawlessly for an unforgettable experience. The pigeon with lardons and cabbage was also simply amazing and the dessert was a decadent delight of strawberry and pistachio flavours. I must note that it is usually difficult to have a real gastronomic experience with food allergies and food sensitivities, especially with my intolerance to eggs and gluten, and yet Chef Lucas was able to adapt each dish expertly. And of course, I cannot end this review without mentioning the warm and generous welcome and service that we received. Everyone was incredibly attentive and went above and beyond to make our last night in Colmar and our anniversary extra special. Thank you to the entire team at Lucas & Chris! We will recommend your restaurant to everyone we know and we will surely be back the next time we're in Colmar.

We visited the restaurant for lunch with a reservation. We chose it because we had seen bone marrow on the menu on Google Maps. Although it was not listed on the restaurant’s menu, we asked about it and it was prepared for us. Even though the waitress spoke French and we spoke English, communication was smooth and clear. The food was very tasty, and the wine and water were served promptly. We especially appreciated the friendly and welcoming service.

We visited Lucas & Chris expecting a refined dining experience. The presentation was pleasant, the ingredients seemed to be of very good quality, and we appreciated the effort and friendliness of the team. However, some dishes lacked depth of flavor, and the overall experience did not fully match the restaurant’s positioning. The octopus was rubbery, and when ordering the beef, we were not asked for our preferred level of doneness. Service was courteous, though somewhat slow.We believe the restaurant has strong potential, and with a few improvements in execution, the dining experience could be better✨

We had dinner here last Thursday for my birthday while staying in Colmar. It was by far the best dinner I’ve ever had. The food, presentation, service, and atmosphere were far above and beyond our expectations! To top it off they brought us champagne to toast at the end!

Great place overall. Wonderful greeting and service by the bartender and great selection of beers, cocktails and food. Great decorations and the bar is compact but comfortable. The place is larger than it seems with a downstairs area for tables. Chill vibes and a great place to have a date or just come with friends and relax. Would come again and recommend you come here as well.

I’m traveling with my parents. They were very tired. They are over 70 yo. They needed to sit, I needed a beer, my girlfriend went to the bathroom. I ordered one and started drinking it. My parents don’t drink. So they didn’t order anything. When I told them they were not having a beer, the employee or owner, took the beer out of my hand by force and kicked us out of a completely empty bar. My girlfriend was just coming back from the bathroom while this happened. She would probably have ordered a beer too. What a weird power trip. This huge dude, with a grumpy face, acting like I was playing with his toy and he wanted it back. I hope you feel very powerful when you lay your head in the bed tonight, thinking how great you are for mistreating elderly people without any explanation. If it’s necessary for everyone to order something to be able to stay in your bar just communicate that somehow, it’s simple as that. Answering the response: Just pitiful. Even myself, I poorly educated person according to their standards and anyone that can read, can easily spot the lies: “you sat there without ordering” and “I took his beer from his hands”. Did the beer magically appeared in my hands? A bar to bully tourists. If you want to risk being treated like shit, with no warning or even communication by the people on this bar. Good luck.

Tips for Choosing the Right Asian Restaurant in Colmar

Navigating a foreign food scene can sometimes feel overwhelming, especially when you are craving specific flavors or have dietary restrictions. While Colmar is a safe haven for good food, a little local knowledge can elevate your dining experience from good to unforgettable. The following tips are designed to help you match your cravings with the perfect venue, ensuring you get the most authentic and satisfying meal possible during your time in this beautiful city.

Look Beyond the Tourist Center
While the area around Petite Venise and the Cathedral is stunning, restaurants here often cater to a transient crowd, sometimes leading to inflated prices or adjusted flavors. Venture a few streets away into the Quartier des Tanneurs or near the train station. You will often find smaller, family-run establishments where the focus is purely on the food and hospitality rather than the view.

Check the Lunchtime "Formules"
Dining out in France can be expensive, but lunch is usually the best value for money. Many Asian restaurants in Colmar offer excellent "formules" or set menus during the midday hours. These often include a starter, main course, and sometimes a drink or dessert at a fraction of the dinner cost. It is the perfect way to sample high-quality sushi or wok dishes without breaking the bank.

Prioritize Freshness for Sushi
If you are craving sushi or sashimi, timing matters. Alsace is landlocked, so the best restaurants rely on rapid, high-quality supply chains. Try to visit sushi spots during peak service hours (Thursday through Saturday) when the turnover of fish is highest. Do not be afraid to ask the staff what arrived fresh that day; a good chef will always be happy to guide you toward the best cuts.

Embrace the Alsatian-Asian Fusion
You might notice local ingredients creeping into the Asian menus—this is a feature, not a bug. Don’t be surprised to see dishes incorporating Munster cheese or local white asparagus during the season. This fusion represents the best of Colmar’s culinary identity. Be adventurous and try a dish that marries these two worlds; it is an experience you cannot get anywhere else in the world.

Reserve Ahead for Dinner Service
Colmar is a popular destination year-round, and the best tables fill up quickly, especially on weekends and during the famous Christmas markets. Even for casual dining, it is highly recommended to call ahead or book online. This is particularly true for smaller venues with limited seating, ensuring you don’t have to settle for a lesser option because the good ones are fully booked.

Ask About Spice Levels
European interpretations of heat can vary wildly from authentic Asian standards. If you love very spicy food, be specific when ordering Thai or Sichuan dishes. Conversely, if you have a low tolerance, do not hesitate to ask for "non épicé" (not spicy). The kitchens in Colmar are generally very accommodating and happy to adjust the heat to your preference.

Exploring the Asian culinary landscape in Colmar offers a delightful contrast to the traditional Alsatian winstubs. It is a testament to the city’s ability to preserve its history while embracing global influences. Whether you are warming up with a rich bowl of ramen after a winter walk or enjoying fresh summer rolls on a sunny terrace, these restaurants provide comfort and excitement in equal measure.

We hope this guide helps you discover your new favorite spot in this enchanting city. Bon appétit, or as they say in many parts of Asia, "Eat well!"
