12 Best Asian Restaurants in Chamonix

Tucked beneath the dramatic peaks of Mont Blanc, Chamonix is world-famous for its alpine skiing, mountaineering, and breathtaking cable car rides. Yet, after a long day exploring the Vallée Blanche or hiking the Grand Balcon Sud, the body craves more than just fondue and tartiflette. The town’s culinary scene has quietly evolved into a vibrant international hub, offering a surprising depth of flavors that go far beyond traditional Savoyard fare.

For British, American, and international visitors, the craving for the familiar comfort of Asian cuisine often strikes after days of heavy cheese and charcuterie. Chamonix answers this call beautifully. From steaming bowls of authentic ramen and delicate sushi to fiery Thai curries and fragrant Vietnamese pho, the resort town has become a surprisingly strong destination for Pan-Asian dining.

Because Chamonix is a high-altitude town with a transient seasonal workforce and a discerning international clientele, the standard of Asian cooking here is remarkably high. Chefs often import specific ingredients directly from Asia to ensure authenticity, competing not just with local French brasseries but with the best restaurants in nearby Geneva. Whether you are looking for a quick, budget-friendly bite or a refined evening meal, there is a table waiting for you.

However, the sheer variety can be overwhelming. Do you want the theatrical experience of teppanyaki, the slow-burning heat of a Thai green curry, or the minimalist precision of Japanese sashimi? The geography of Chamonix—spread between the town center, Chamonix Sud, and the outskirts—means some of the best spots are hidden away from the main pedestrian high street.

This guide curates the essential stops for anyone seeking the best Asian restaurants in Chamonix. We have prioritized not just flavor, but consistency, atmosphere, and value for money to ensure you spend less time searching and more time enjoying your meal against the backdrop of the Aiguille du Midi.

Nice Nepalese restaurant, first time trying the cuisine and was very surprised with the flavors. The portions are generous and the price is correct. We've had the pork Dal Bhat, the fried rice, the chicken katsu and a large portion of momo, which ressembles japanese gyoza. The only downside is the small space, there are two small tables outside and inside there are counters with high chairs. Very happy with our choice of lunch after visiting La Mer the Glace, would definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants a change from the usual french bistro!

The food here seemed promising. But it doesnt come close to the authentic versions of these dishes. The vegetarian momos/dumplings look very pretty, but then fail to make an impression with the taste buds. The other dishes we took, also seemed like they had a lot of potential for how simple they are, but then they dont deliver on taste. Most prices seemed fair, but the supplement of an fried egg over noodles was charged at +3.5 Euro 😅, while the meat supplements were cheaper. Its a small place, with few vegetarian or vegan options. There are Nepali as well as some Chinese dishes on menu. We tried 4 of their dishes, and felt like they have a lot of potential.

Honestly one of the best places to get food in the area. Their fried rice is stunningly delicious although I wish they had a greater variety of menu options. Still a solid place but it should be noted that seating is quite limited. There are a few outdoor seating options available but indoor space is limited as there’s only a couple bar style tables and a few regular tables. Assuming it’s not too crowded, I would definitely consider checking this place out.

A must eat place if you ever visit Chamonix. Perfect place to fill up before a hiking trip and perfect place to replenish your energy after a long day of sports, I highly recommend daal bhat, the traditional go to option which can never fail. If you have the luck try to sit at the terrace side with the views of the mountains while you enjoy your meal. They do take outs too.

Our first nepali food and it was soso goodZ we ordered chicken katsu rice (so crispy and yummy comes wif fresh salad), dal bhat (pan fried curry like pork with veggies and soup), and mono (steamed dumplings), we were also asked if we needed chilli sauce and we said yes (so so good). Definitely recommend. All 3 for €40++. But we’re full.

I came here when I finished the TMB, after several long days of hiking, finding genuinely good Chinese food right in the centre of Chamonix was exactly what I needed. As a Chinese tourist, I was honestly impressed, the food tastes authentic, comforting and properly flavourful. The mapo tofu was particularly good and is also a great vegetarian option. I also heard very positive things about this place from locals, which made the experience even better. Definitely a great stop after the TMB, a long hike, or a day of skiing. One of the more memorable meals I had in Chamonix.

The food was fine, but the service was very disappointing. I ordered food and politely asked for tap water, explaining that I planned to have some alcohol later. I requested it several times, and each time the staff said “okay”, but no water was ever brought. Even after I finished my meal, it still did not arrive. It felt like the staff were uncomfortable or unwilling to serve tap water. The restaurant was not busy at all, so there was no excuse for this oversight. Good food alone is not enough, the attitude and basic service really need improvement. Unfortunately, this experience left a bad impression.

Had a really lovely dinner with a big group. We got there right when they opened which was great because there ended up being a bit of a wait but we were seated immediately. We had a bunch of vegetarians and we were all so psyched by the veggie options. Waitress was super attentive. Everything was good and we were glad we came in!

It is situated in the city centre. We visited with family in August 2025 first week. The backside place abetting the river and a garden is simply out of the world. The pastas and noodles we have ordered was brought piping hot and tasty. Cool serene and calm atmosphere.
Sam Brading (Sam)★★★★★
Absolutely fantastic Chinese restaurant. The beef dish was full of flavour, the crispy duck was cooked perfectly, and the Cantonese rice was spot on. Everything tasted fresh and beautifully prepared. The service was excellent from start to finish. We visited twice during our trip and both times it was consistently great. What really stood out was that even the owners greeted us personally and said goodbye, which made us feel genuinely welcome. We’ll definitely be back next time we’re in Chamonix!

Great Japanese food - after eating a wide array of food in Chamonix we fancied something different. This restaurant service great food and the service was great too. We had a vegan pokebowl, fried chicken katsu curry and 2 chicken starters. Everything tasted great and we would happily come back.

What a pleasant surprise to find a sushi restaurant in Chamonix! They offered plenty of gluten free options, including chicken karaage, and even had gluten free desserts. I ordered a take out for my daughter with avocado roll, chicken karaage( super crispy and tasty) and cheesecake. Everything was delicious, and it was great to have so many safe choices available.

Great value for money in Chamonix! I had the breaded chicken with rice (Katsu) and it was very well-made and tasty. A big plus was that they served tap water for free when I asked, which is a nice touch. Good prices and great service. Highly recommended!

Best gyozas I’ve ever had!! Really enjoyed the ramen too! Loved that we could share dishes and a very cosy atmosphere. Quite a small space downstairs but we really enjoyed it. Service was great and the food was really excellent quality. Definitely recommend!
Louanne Guthrie★☆☆☆☆
I ordered a vegetarian ramen, which did not come with any form of protein, only vegetables, so I ordered a tofu starter and requested it at the same time as the ramen, it still arrived as a starter anyway. When the ramen arrived first thing I noticed was that there was not a lot of the broth, it was far below the vegetables and noodles. I put the tofu on top and when I tried the ramen, the whole thing was barely lukewarm almost cold. My partners pork ramen was steaming hot. I looked for the waiter and the owner saw me and asked me the problem, I told her the ramen was cold. She responded that she was surprised because they 'always serve it steaming hot'. I picked up the bowl with my hands and gave it to her. They microwaved it for a short time and when it returned, it was still not hot. The owner very rudely informed me that because I put cold tofu on the top it 'cooled down the broth'. This is a ridiculous idea because the broth was so far below the vegetables thay the tofu didn't touch it and the bowl itself wasn't even hot. It is impossible that cold tofu would cool down and entire bowl of hot ramen in 30 seconds. My partners bowl was so hot we couldn't touch it and stayed hot for the duration of the meal. Nobody came to check at any point if we were happy with the food until we were finished. I told the waiter the ramen was cold and he sort of shrugged it off. No apology was offered at any point. This was the worst ramen I have ever had and the owner is extremely rude.

Really cozy little spot! The staff was so friendly and the food was phenomenal! Everything that I got was delicious. Can’t wait to try more from the menu. Definitely a must go when in Chamonix!

It is not the first time I visit this shop. I visited 2 years ago, the food and beer is good. I recommend to people who miss ramen in Chamonix. But this time l visited again, I feel totally disappointed. I understand every restaurant and shop are extremely busy in UTMB week. However, it is not an excuse to provide such bad service to customers. I visited with my friend the day before and the lady told us it was just full. And she felt annoying and asked us to wait far way from the shop. Since we’re very hungry, so we decided went elsewhere. As I said the food is good so I visited other day alone. This time the shop is not busy, there is more empty table. The lady ask me to sit outside. I sat for 10 minutes, no one serve me or give me menu. The lady bypassed me and chit chat with other tables. When she finally aware I sat here, she just gave me the menu and said nothing. Honestly, the ramen still good. But I will never come again. ( although I don’t think they care it) Right now, I will only recommend people to go there if you can speak French. So the lady can talk with you and serve you nicely.
Damaris Osterling★★★★★
The best ramen I ever tried, magnificent. We order the pork ramen with miso, add some soy sauce to the broth, and it was the best combination. Noddles are boil to perfection, as every dish. I’m coming back tomorrow ☺️.

Delicious food and excellent service! We enjoyed the salmon rice bowl, udon, and the kids’ sushi set. Everything was fresh and tasty, and the staff were incredibly friendly. Highly recommend this place.
Dave Newcastle★★★★☆
The food is tasty enough, but not on par with a typical Japanese restaurant in California, despite a few of their items named "California." Service is great, and the patio area is pleasant enough even though it has no view with buildings looming over it and on a busy street. Overall a good choice for decent food.
Nini Ninua★★★★★
We visited Satsuki while in Chamonix. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The food was delicious and full of flavor. The only exception was the shrimp tempura, which I didn’t enjoy—though I’m usually a big fan of shrimp. Other than that, everything was very good, and the prices are reasonable too!
Vy Nguyen★★★★☆
Good lunch spot in Chamonix. Dog friendly. We appreciate how accommodating staff is. The lunch set is really good value for money. Everything is great, except the quality of the tuna (it didn't taste fresh). The salmon and sea bream on the another hand were delicious. The chicken & rice dish was lovely. Overall ok experience, very friendly staff.

Although this isn’t the worst restaurant I’ve been to by any means, I was still disappointed as the menu does not have many options and seating is highly limited. Because tell me why Pad See Ew is not on the menu at a Thai restaurant. However I appreciate the location and service as our food came out quickly and was honestly not bad. It’s also within walking distance to many hotels and shops making it a convenient location for tourists. Personally I recommend looking elsewhere for ample seating and more menu options but not the worst place in the world.

The food are delicious 🤤 and flavourful if they have more options for the menu i would love to have more items ordered 🫶🏻

Great taste for tom yum & red curry, affordable price.
Clarissa Giebel★☆☆☆☆
The food was awful. It came super quickly and the vegetables looked like frozen and were hard, so the food was not freshly cooked. The 'green curry sauce' was so watered down it hardly tasted of anything. I had to stop eating.
Dianna Lee★★★★★
Good price(considering being at Chamonix), good food! Being in Europe it is often hard to find authentic asian flavours. But this place has it down, the take out containers look small initially but you do get full from it! There are tables to dine in at the store, the service was friendly. We got the fried dumplings/ravioli (3.5⭐️), beef pad thai(4.5⭐️), beef fried rice (5⭐️), shrimp tom yum (4.8⭐️). It was very good overall! I believe the other menus would be great also! This restaurant doesn't catch the attentiom when you walk down the road so pay attention when you look for it!

100% the best restaurant in downtown Chamonix. So many different types of foods and all so flavorful. We stopped here on multiple occasions ranging from breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert and drinks. Owner is super friendly. Everything is plant based and if you didn’t care about that you honestly wouldn’t even know because it’s just that good. 100% plant based, vegetarian, vegan options. Totally recommend! You won’t regret it.

Good food! I especially appreciated the emphasis on natural, organic, wholesome food. As well as the organic local wine list. We got the Yellow Thai Curry with Free range Chicken, Zucchini Noodles with Tofu, and white wine and kombucha.

We’ll be dreaming about these halloumi fries forever. Stopped for a light dinner (forgot to take pics of the plate of the day — it was absolutely divine. A salad with cucumber, zucchini, carrot, and tofu in a ginger sauce) Service was incredible. Food was great. 10/10 recommend.

Visited as a family of 4. Food was incredible. We had the falafel bowl, Thai yellow curry with tofu and a burger. All vegan. There were some non vegan options but the majority was plant based. Homemade ice tea was lovely. We also had a really nice Americano. Good quality coffee. We sat in the outside seating area which was well sheltered.

I had a wonderful experience at this Indian restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious, and the spices were perfectly balanced—rich in flavor without being too spicy, just the way we requested. first time ive ever been put off food in a restaurant purely by just looking at it. all the food was actually terrible no joke. the flavourings were all off and the meat tasted old and not fresh. honestly. and afterwards my stomach was hurting. ive tried many south asian restaurants all over the world and this one takes the crown for being the worst

the service really stood out, very friendly and made us feel very welcome, food was beautiful and delicious, sushi, yakisoba, miso, tea(no tea available but he felt bad and gave us some from his personal stash), all the stores are small with minimal room to move around so a four star just because it was tight space but cozy. once again the service made up for this small inconvenience. my wife thought the place was very clean too!

Tips for Choosing an Asian Restaurant in Chamonix

Navigating the dining scene in a busy resort town requires a bit of local knowledge. The high season brings crowds, and the demand for tables often outpaces supply. Here is how to ensure your Asian dining experience in Chamonix is seamless and satisfying, whether you are visiting in the powder snow of January or the lush greenery of July.

Book Ahead During Ski Season
Chamonix is not a city where you can always walk in off the street, especially between December and March. Popular ramen and sushi spots fill up fast with skiers coming off the slopes. Always call ahead or use online booking platforms to secure a table, particularly if you are dining in a group or want to eat after 7:30 PM.

Check for Spice Levels
European interpretations of Asian food can sometimes be milder than what you might be used to if you have traveled extensively in Asia. If you like your Thai or Szechuan food authentically hot, don’t be shy. Ask the staff to make it "Thai spicy" or "extra piquant"—most kitchens in Chamonix are happy to accommodate true heat seekers.

Consider Takeaway for Apartment Stays
If you are staying in a self-catered chalet or apartment, you might be tired of cooking but also tired of restaurant crowds. Many of the best Asian spots in Chamonix offer excellent takeaway and delivery services. Ordering a mix of sushi, noodles, and dumplings to enjoy on your balcony with a view of the mountains can be the perfect low-key evening.

Look for the Lunchtime Menus
Dining out in Chamonix can be expensive, especially in the center of town. To experience the best flavors without the premium dinner price tag, visit these restaurants during lunch hours. Many offer "formules" or set menus that include a starter, main course, and sometimes a drink for a fraction of the evening cost.

Don’t Skip the Broth Dishes
After a day in the cold, dry mountain air, your body craves hydration and warmth. While sushi and stir-fries are great, the ramen, pho, and laksa options in Chamonix are exceptional. The rich broths not only warm you up instantly but also help replenish the salts and fluids lost during high-altitude physical activity.

The beauty of Chamonix’s dining scene lies in its ability to transport you. One moment you are walking through a snowy alpine street, and the next you are stepping into a bustling izakaya or a fragrant Thai kitchen. It is this culinary escapism that makes a trip to the mountains so memorable.

While the mountains will always be the main attraction, the food you eat fuels the adventure. Whether you are carb-loading before a summit attempt or celebrating a successful descent, the Asian restaurants in Chamonix offer the perfect balance of comfort, flavor, and warmth. Bon appétit, or as they might say in the kitchens here, itadakimasu.
