12 Best Asian Restaurants in Bordeaux

Bordeaux’s reputation as a global capital of wine often overshadows its remarkably diverse culinary scene. Over the last decade, the city has experienced a quiet gastronomic revolution, moving far beyond the traditional entrecôte and canelés. This evolution has been largely driven by a new wave of international chefs and ambitious restaurateurs who have brought authentic global flavors to the Gironde.

For locals and visitors alike, the craving for complex spices, delicate broths, and fiery woks has become just as common as the desire for a bold red from the Médoc. The Asian food landscape here is not a monolith; it is a vibrant tapestry of distinct regional cuisines. From the precision of Japanese sushi masters to the aromatic complexity of Thai curries and the comforting warmth of Vietnamese Pho, the options are vast.

Navigating this rich scene can be overwhelming, especially when you are looking for a meal that offers more than just standard takeout fare. You want authenticity, quality ingredients, and an atmosphere that transports you from the banks of the Garonne to the bustling streets of Bangkok, Tokyo, or Hanoi. That is why we have done the heavy lifting for you.

We have scoured the city’s historic quarters, from the Chartrons to Saint-Michel, tasting our way through menus to identify the establishments that stand out from the crowd. Our criteria go beyond just good flavors; we evaluate the freshness of the fish, the balance of the spices, the warmth of the service, and the overall value for money. We prioritize kitchens that respect tradition while embracing the local French terroir.

In this guide, you will find a curated list of destinations that represent the absolute best of Asian gastronomy in Bordeaux. Whether you are seeking a quick, high-quality lunch, a romantic dinner spot, or a place to satisfy a late-night craving for dumplings, there is something here for every palate and budget.

Without further ado, here is our definitive selection of the top dining destinations that are currently defining the Asian food scene in the city.

The staff was really nice and the atmosphere was really nice too, but the food was disappointing. My mom and I both had the pad thai, but it was really salty and not what I expected, my mom couldn’t even finish her plate because it was so bad. My dad had something else and had no complaints, also the entree was good. But because the pad thai was so bad I am giving it 3 stars. Maybe they accidentally added a bit too much soy sauce? The staff was friendly, I don’t have any complaints except for the food.

Excellent Asian cuisine - my fried rice with shrimps was absolutely divine. Fast service, polite staff, and a great overall experience. I would definitely recommend it.
Kerri O'brien★★★★★
Dinner was exceptional. We had egg rolls for entree and mains of satay noodles and beef and peppers stir fry. Both served were generous. The service was excellent and pricing was reasonable. Highly recommend
Lynne Roldao★★★★★
The food was excellent. We shared a mixed appetizer plate that was very tasty. The main dishes were very good. There could have been more choices. Service was a bit slow but friendly and helpful to non-French speakers. I would definitely recommend!

This is one of the best Southeast Asian fusion restaurants we have been to. The food is absolutely delicious. The flavors are amazing, marrying Vietnamese, Malaysian and Thai spices. If we happen to come back to Bordeaux, this will be our go-to restaurant. The waiter is awesome as well— he is knowledgeable and so kind and helpful! A++

We had a very delicious and filling meal here for our last night in Bordeaux. We had the pork bao buns, crispy eggplant, pork & rice, crispy chicken & rice. I loved how tender the meat was in the pork plate. The only thing that didn’t appeal to me was almost everything was a bit sweet (the pork, chicken, and the pickled veggies on the side, and the crispy eggplant). The pork bao buns were just perfect.

Yum yum yum! Went for the first time today with my husband …. Delicious!, staff super mega polite and nice and welcoming. Food very tasty and the portions are great, we had the pork braised and chicken and we will definitely come back! Thank you. Only thing we were in the table next to the door and it was hard to eat when peple were coming, also saw the waiter struggle a bit wit the space, maybe a little re arrange of the tables to make it easier to move around?
Manoir Laurette Boutique BnB★★★★★
Quickly seated for a family of three on a Sunday lunch service (13.00) It was busy but not overcrowded and the atmosphere was relaxed - we didn’t feel Rushed. Food was excellent- favourites were the aubergine, pork and bao’s. Staff are really lovely. Our daughter age 10 absolutely loved it! We’ll be back for sure.
Anna B★★★★☆
The food is good but it’s more of a fusion than authentic Chinese food. Adding in the chilly oil helped a lot but the liquid was just sugary vinegar, did match well with the noodle. But also the atmosphere is super chaotic and kind of tight, everyone’s super stressed as people are waiting in line outside but the staff keep telling them to come back later while asking for their no. and to come back as the tables are ready. The queue for the payment is quite long, you may also have to wait 20-30 min for your food to arrive and same for the payment unfortunately. Hopefully it was just one time.
Sarah★★★★★
Amazing food and service. Aubergine starter was our favourite. Also loved the peanut tofu starter and pork bao buns. Incredible food!! Very busy place. A little bit tight in terms of space for tables but would go back in a heart beat!!

The place turned out to be a very good spot for a casual Chinese meal in Bordeaux. The atmosphere is simple but inviting, service was fast, and the food arrived quickly even though the restaurant was busy. The dishes were hearty, comforting and full of flavour. The stir-fried noodles with shrimp were especially satisfying, and the cucumber salad and wood ear mushrooms made great fresh side dishes. Portions are generous and the menu has plenty of variety if you want something beyond the usual takeaway-style options. Not a fancy place, but a really solid choice if you’re craving Chinese food and want something filling and tasty in the city centre.

Stumbled upon this place accidentally and it will definitely be a new regular spot for us! The perfect Sichuan spice, very authentic and homemade and reminds me of Chongqing. The staff were helpful in giving suggestions, the food can incredibly fast and it was so good. Can’t wait to go back!
Yoshi Kris★★★★★
Overall I really enjoyed the experience! These were the best dumplings I’ve ever had. The noodles and ingredients were very tasty and fresh, and the portions were just about right. We were also served pretty quickly overall. One thing they could maybe improve is serving the main dishes at the same time, which is usually common in France. There was about a 5-minute delay between my sautéed noodles and my partner’s noodle soup. I know that in some countries dishes arrive when they’re ready, but serving them together might be better for local customers. Another point: the beef sautéed noodles were really good, but they could maybe add a little more beef. Visually, the proportion doesn’t feel perfectly balanced. Even increasing the price by around €2 to include a bit more beef would be totally fine in my opinion. Overall, I liked it and would definitely go back!

This is going to be a long one, but if you want a proper summary: This is the best Asian Food I've ever had. Now. I am spoiled when it comes to cuisine experiences, especially Asian food options based on my travels and where I live. I hate superlatives in general, but Wokami has it all. How some Hotels have surpassed 5 stars, I want you to believe me, Wokami might be the first 6 stars Asian Food Restaurant in the world. Luckily enough I found their restaurant open at late night on Sunday and my goodness, what a fortunate find this was. I hope everyone gives them a chance. Deliciously on the spot prepared food, a great selection for truly a deserved price. The only 'negative' is that the portions were so big. Of course this was more then welcomed as I was famished, best bank for your buck I've ever encountered in such a place. Employees who do both cooking, serving and cleaning were extremely polite and efficient, considerate with the level of ambiance and reassuring when I asked them a few questions in my broken French. To my shame, I did not pay the tip option when I selected the purchase option on the ordering machine and I had no cash on me, but I hope to return in the next few days before I leave Bordeaux and make up for my mistake, as trust me, they deserve all the extra in the world. I forgot to mention that the plating(as can be seen in the pictures) was superb. I left the restaurant wondering if this is the first time I ever actually tasted proper Asian food. 10/10 on all fronts, I might have to come back to Bordeaux in the future just for Wokami!

Staff is amazing, the place is clean, organized and most importantly the food is great. Gave us free cups and mini Pepsis!

Air conditioned and greeted by very friendly staff. The food was superb, delicious, hot and very tasty. I had the Pad Thai and my husband had the chicken on rice. Excellent

We’ve visited Wokami Bordeaux yesterday and service was amazing. Big thanks and greetings to super nice and kind women who kept the atmosphere super friendly, answered our questions. The food was delicious and tasty. Portions were big. It’s one of the best Asian food I tried.

We went there twice during our trip to Bordeaux. We tried both the pad Thai and the chicken with rice. The food was absolutely amazing and it came with excellent service!

I've never enjoyed a sushi restaurant as much as I did enjoy Blaze trip. ✨ From the moment we arrived until the very last bite, the entire experience was exceptional. The atmosphere is warm and intimate, and you can immediately tell that the chef is truly passionate about his craft. His attention to detail, creativity, and dedication come through in every dish. We chose the Summer Menu along with the Mystery selection, and every single piece of sushi was outstanding. Each bite was perfectly balanced, incredibly fresh, and full of flavor. It was exciting to discover new combinations, and every course managed to surprise us. This is much more than just a sushi restaurant—it's a true culinary experience. If you're looking for exceptional quality, creativity, and genuine passion, this place is absolutely worth visiting. I can't wait to come back!

Amazing experience! We were very surprised and delighted with the menu and it’s presentation! Very great concept, and everything tastes amazing! The owner takes a personal approach with each table, explaining the dishes, how they taste, made, and etc, and as well as asking your personal opinions in order to improve the menu further! Overall, very good experience and very much recommended if you want to try new and unusual sushis!
Nika K★★★★★
An absolutely delicious place for sushi! The flavours are experimental and it’s a real pleasure to try out something so unique! Everything has been perfectly thought through, from the visual presentation up until the little details of taste. If you’re passing by Bordeaux, give this place a try 🤗
Michelle Lanstra★★★★★
Wonderful sushi done in a unique and gorgeous way. The chef has a great sense of balance, not only in taste but in presentation. The use of color and edible flowers is inspired.
Quentin Hervé★★★★★
After just two pieces of sushi, my girlfriend said about the chef: “It’s like he doesn’t know limits.” I found it beautifully put, because she was right. The chef seems to ignore conventions entirely. He follows his intuition and imagination, and you can feel it in every bite. If you are looking for an explosion of flavours, unexpected culinary surprises, and a journey from Western Europe to Southeast Asia without leaving Bordeaux, this is the place. Thank you for making this moment so incredible for us.

If you’re looking for a place in the city center where you can enjoy authentic Taiwanese cuisine while exploring a selection of interesting niche wines and high-quality classified wines, then this hidden gem in Gambetta is the perfect choice. The staff here are incredibly warm and welcoming, the food is delicious, and the wine selection is expertly curated. My wine-loving friends and I regularly gather here for a great time.
Matthew M.★★★★★
This is the place where authentic Taiwanese food meets fantastic selection of wine. Good vibe, good food. The staff is friendly. The dish is amazingly prepared in its own. We firstly visited in 2024 and cannot help to come back in 2025. Highly recommended.
Erin Lee★★★★★
Discovering unique wine and food pairings is a highlight here! As someone accustomed to soju with Korean cuisine and Chinese dishes paired with beer, exploring Taiwanese cuisine with wine was incredibly enjoyable (and the food is great) Marco's expertise in wine selection adds an extra layer to the experience. I highly recommend letting him choose the perfect wine to complement your meal!

My friend and I were wandering Bordeaux, and just happened to walk past this restaurant! I was instantly drawn to the creative drawings of food they had on the menu outside. I was intrigued by the idea of French Chinese style cuisine so we decided to give it a try. The restaurant had a lovely vibe, it was clear there was a lot of thought. The owners were super friendly and helpful in ensuring we were well informed about the menu options. We tried the 3 course menu and chose duck and beef for our mains. Food was delicious and the experience was wonderful! Highly recommend!!

This was the best meal we’ve had so far in France. The food was unbelievable, the service warm and inviting, and the location felt homey and creative. I wish I lived in Bordeaux so I could come here more often. Thank you so much!

We spent New Year’s Eve 2025 having dinner at Petits Plaisirs and were impressed from the very first moment. We were given a very warm welcome and received charming service throughout the entire evening. The New Year’s Eve menu was excellent: the kitchen added a touch of French culinary to Chinese dishes, which was both very interesting and very well executed. The visit was rounded off by many small details lovingly placed on the tables, on the shelves, and in the windows. You can really feel the very positive spirit in this restaurant, which makes the visit a thoroughly harmonious and special experience.
Clemente Pinilla-Torremocha★★★★★
We had a wonderful lunch at Petits Plaisirs • 物食记 in Bordeaux and were truly impressed. The set menu was beautifully balanced—rice, vegetables, soup, and a choice of beef or grilled chicken, all prepared with care and full of flavor. Every bite felt comforting and refined. The service was warm and attentive, making us feel genuinely welcome. What really stood out was the interior: it felt like dining in a cozy art gallery. Framed paintings and photographs adorned the walls, and the vintage furniture added a charming, nostalgic touch—elegantly preserved and thoughtfully arranged. A delightful experience from start to finish. Highly recommended for anyone looking for soulful food and a unique ambiance in Bordeaux. 📸 (Photos attached)

If you’re craving Chinese food and Western pastries, this place is definitely worth checking out. Their Google reviews are spot on—the food and pastries are made with love and care. They’re also very healthy and delicious. The owner is friendly and tries his best to explain the menu in English. They have seven tables. If it’s on your list, I recommend reserving first. I am not sure if they have vegetarian menu.

Would have given them 6/5 stars if I could. The restaurant is a hidden gem in Bordeaux - beautiful design, cozy interiors and mind blowing Asian dishes. I had the salmon tartare, beef Massaman and entremet aux trois chocolats and each of the dishes was a beautiful explosion of flavors. Had a wonderful evening! Would definitely recommend 🙂

Ahhh I can still taste the curry vert three days later. It was really good. Food concept is like Asian fusion. Service is impeccable and the food was really good and fresh. They offer only a menu which is okah price-taste-size wise. Desserts could be better but overall very much recommended. A++

Superbly authentic Thai food, a proper taste of Thailand in France. The dishes reminded me of days and nights spent eating as many Thai dishes as I could when I was there. Everything made in house and you can taste the freshness. Lovely dish presentation and lovely decoration of the restaurant. Both men working there were superb, friendly, quick service, an overall brilliant experience. And extremely affordable for the quality.

"Balifornia Dreaming!" What a wonderful "Trip" through Asia with delicious menu items from several different Asian destinations, like Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand, Japan, etc. The food was incredible good, the service was super friendly and it's very kid friendly. They went out of their way to make us feel welcome and to accommodate our kid's less than adventurous palate lol. 5 big stars!
Hi Hello★★★★★
Ever before sitting, the place felt welcoming, lovely decor. The server was nice. I had the chicken teriyaki it was amazing at first. it looks like too much red cabbge, but as soon as you mix everything, it just is perfect. I highly recommend this place if you like Asian cuisine menu items from Vietnam, Thailand, Japan.

I went here on a Saturday evening for dinner and even though the place was becoming busy I was given a great service. The meal was very good - hoisin chicken poke bowl. Really good quality and reasonable price. It’s a nice quiet place and good if you are solo. The mango ice cream for dessert was also excellent. Nice waiter/owner who clearly works hard and is friendly and helpful to everyone. Would highly recommend!

Great place for a nice South Asian meal. We tried BALI CURRY VERT COCO and ULUWATU SATAY INDONESIEN. Both of the items were very well made and served warm. We had the Bouillon pho entrée which they agreed to make vegetarian upon requesting. The cheesecake was served with a mango sauce which was delicious. The service was top notch. Very friendly staff. They made sure we were comfortable and explained the ingredients in each of the items

A wonderful place to have lunch/dinner, great food, good quality, good price and excellent service. We ordered two bowls and two appetizers and they invited us to the coffee. The red curry is one of the best we have ever had!!!

Went to that restaurant on a friend recommendation and can only express how excellent and tasty food at Dat viet. We tried the bo bun with satay prawns served with the most delicious crispy and moist nem I’ve ever had (for real), fresh soy, carrot, noodles, peanuts and coriander. Service was great even if the restaurant was busy, clearly a popular spot and for good reasons : food was delicious ! I’ll be back again as I hesitated amongst several dishes that looked very yummy

A very good dinning option. The food was good and flavourful, not spicy enough for me, the service was correct and very helpful. The price was reasonable. A devil of a job to park, we arrived 25 minutes late for our reserved table, but they accommodated us.

The best, most authentic homemade Chinese dumplings served with so much care & kindness by the darling owner on the eve of Chinese new year. She even made lotus moon cakes for us. The best Chinese food I’ve had, including in China.

Whole experience was beyond welcoming and pleasant. There are few options of dishes, but all three are very delicious and super tasty. Reason for limited selection is a fact that restaurant is very new. Cute women that works there, welcomed us really nice, she taught us about some mandarin traditions. Super satisfied. I highly recommend this place!!! 🇫🇷☀️🥢

Essential Tips for Choosing Your Asian Dining Experience

While the list above provides specific recommendations for the best tables in town, knowing how to navigate the local dining scene can greatly enhance your experience. Bordeaux’s restaurant industry has its own rhythms and unspoken rules, especially when it comes to international cuisine. Understanding these nuances will help you secure a table, order like a local, and ensure you get the most authentic meal possible.

1. Always Book Ahead for Dinner
Bordeaux has a vibrant dining culture, and the best restaurants—particularly the smaller, family-run Asian establishments—fill up quickly. Unlike in larger capitals where dining starts late, the prime dinner window in Bordeaux is usually between 7:30 PM and 9:00 PM. If you have your heart set on a specific ramen bar or sushi counter, calling a day in advance is essential, especially on weekends. Walking in without a reservation often means facing long waits or being turned away entirely.

2. Look for the "Menu du Midi"
If you want to experience fine Asian dining without the hefty price tag, plan your visit for lunch. Nearly every high-quality restaurant in Bordeaux offers a fixed-price lunch menu, known as the menu du midi. These set menus often include a starter, main course, and sometimes a dessert for a fraction of the dinner cost. It is the smartest way to sample premium ingredients, such as sashimi-grade fish or wagyu beef, while keeping your budget intact.

3. Embrace the French-Asian Fusion
Don’t be surprised if your sushi comes with a hint of Espelette pepper or your Pho is garnished with fresh herbs from a local Bordeaux market. The best chefs in the city are masters of fusion, blending Asian techniques with the high-quality produce of Nouvelle-Aquitaine. Be open to menu items that sound slightly unconventional; the combination of French dairy, local seafood, and Asian spices often results in the most memorable dishes on the menu.

4. Check for Seasonal Closures
Unlike major metropolitan hubs, Bordeaux observes a distinct summer and winter rhythm. Many independent restaurant owners take their holidays in August or during the first week of January. Before you trek across town to a specific noodle house, check their social media or call ahead to ensure they are not on congés annuels. There is nothing worse than arriving with an appetite only to find the shutters drawn.

5. Don’t Skip the Beverage Pairing
While Bordeaux is famous for wine, Asian cuisine often pairs beautifully with other beverages that you might overlook. Many top Asian restaurants in the city now curate excellent sake lists, Japanese whiskies, or craft beers that cut through the fat of rich broths and fried dishes. Trust the sommelier or server when they suggest moving away from a heavy red wine and trying a chilled Junmai sake or a crisp Alsatian Riesling instead.

Bordeaux’s culinary identity is constantly evolving, and the rise of exceptional Asian cuisine is one of the most exciting developments in the city’s modern history. These restaurants are not just places to eat; they are cultural bridges, bringing centuries of Asian culinary tradition to the southwest of France.
