Stepping out of the Louvre’s glass pyramid after hours of walking through the world’s largest art museum often leaves visitors with two things: a deep appreciation for human creativity and a very empty stomach. The area immediately surrounding the museum, while beautiful, is notoriously expensive and often filled with tourist traps that serve overpriced, mediocre food. Fortunately, you do not need to spend a fortune or walk very far to find a satisfying meal.
The 1st arrondissement and its neighboring districts are packed with hidden gems, traditional bakeries, and cozy bistros that cater to locals and savvy travelers alike. Whether you are craving a classic French onion soup, a quick crêpe to eat on the go, or a hearty falafel, the streets around the Palais-Royal and Les Halles offer plenty of budget-friendly options. The key is knowing where to turn once you exit the museum gates.
Eating affordably near a major landmark requires a strategy. You want to avoid the restaurants with "menu touristique" signs featuring pictures of the food, as these are usually overpriced. Instead, look for places where Parisians are queuing up for their lunch break. These establishments prioritize quality ingredients and fair prices because their survival depends on repeat local business, not one-time visitors.
This guide focuses on spots where you can get a substantial meal for roughly €10 to €20, which is a bargain for central Paris. We have considered not just the price point, but also the quality of the food, the atmosphere, and the proximity to the museum. Most of these locations are within a 5 to 15-minute walk from the Louvre’s main entrance.
Paris is a city where food is a cultural pillar, and you do not need a Michelin star to experience the culinary magic of the city. From flaky viennoiseries that serve as a quick breakfast to sit-down lunches that won’t derail your vacation budget, the area has a diverse range of options. You can easily find authentic Japanese ramen, traditional French crêpes, or Italian sandwiches made with fresh ingredients.
To help you navigate the maze of streets surrounding the former royal palace, we have compiled a list of reliable, affordable spots. These are places where the value matches the price, ensuring you can refuel without feeling ripped off. You can spend your saved money on a souvenir from the museum gift shop instead.
Here is a curated selection of the best wallet-friendly eateries located just a short stroll from the Louvre Museum.

I visited here after a long day in Le Louvre and I was very impressed!
I was welcomed by the lovely server Nirmine and she gave the best recommendation from the cocktail to the dessert. The duck was absolutely amazing, crispy skin but the flesh just melted in your mouth 🙂 Pornstar martini was cute and gimmicky with the Prosecco to ´rinse ´ in between each sip. The Crème brêle was nice but I was already too full to enjoy fully.
Good location, good food and good service 😉

We had a fantastic dinner here. The kitchen clearly knows what it’s doing.
The Dishes
• French Onion Soup: The broth had a rich, deeply savory depth, and it was topped with a generous, properly melted layer of cheese over crusty bread.
• Beef Bourguignon: The beef was incredibly tender, braised in a rich, glossy red wine reduction with carrots and fresh herbs. Presenting it with a smooth mound of mashed potatoes right in the center was a great touch, perfect for soaking up the sauce.
• Duck Confit: Exceptionally well-prepared. This was my favorite! The skin was perfectly crisp while the meat remained tender and juicy. It came paired with well-seasoned roasted potatoes and a simple side salad that provided a nice, fresh contrast to the richness of the dish.
Overall Experience:
The meal was rounded out nicely with a basket of fresh baguette and a crisp beer. Portions are generous, presentation is clean, and the flavors are spot on. It's a great spot for an authentic, unpretentious meal. We’ll definitely be back.

Exceeded our expectation of French cuisine. We had the Burgundy snails for entree, Duck confit, sautéed new potatoes with garlic, pepper sauce & Burger, Charolais steak with cheese sauce, homemade fries for our mains and Crème Brûlée for dessert.
The snails were seasoned very well with garlic & parsley butter, duck melted in your mouth and was delicious, steak burger flavours were out of this world and what can I say about the Crème Brûlée silky smooth.
Highly recommend this cute restaurant with friendly service and great atmosphere. Thankyou to the staff for making this the best meal we have had in Europe the past 5 weeks.

Good experience, good food and ok service. The restaurant is small and very crowded, the service was OK, we were quickly seated but not as quickly served. The escargots were good, same the beef tartare and the onion soup. French fries were terrible and the duck was ok, the prices are fair for being in Paris. It takes a while to be seated if you are with a bigger group, 2 ppl get accommodated pretty quick.

The wait staff was super nice and efficient throughout the experience. I did have the pizza, and unfortunately it wasn’t heated very well, which kind of took away from it a bit. That said, the flavor was honestly still really good even cold — just not ideal for pizza. Other than that, no complaints!

We were famished and didn’t want to leave the Louvre to find somewhere else to eat, so we tried this food court. There are a couple of food choices and coffee machines, it’s exactly what you expect from a food court. Considering the location, the prices aren’t outrageous, though some dishes could be a bit cheaper.
We didn’t enjoy the Thai rice dish we had, the chicken and potatoes were average. Both portions were good size, and the staff were nice. There’s ample seating available. The toilet costs 1.50/2 euros, which is ridiculous, even for paying customers. I guess the food court and the service are separate.
Javier★★☆☆☆
The chicken was so dry it could have been a prop. The potatoes/vegetables were mush and the side sauce looked okay. Don't waste your money.

Thank you! Everything was absolutely wonderful, the service was very good. It was comfortable to sit there and enjoy my lunch, very cheap for central Paris; a burger with fries and a drink was 13 euros. The owner of this place is very nice, I give it all 5 stars, I really wish I could give it 10.

Absolutely amazing experience!
The food was incredible from start to finish. The pizza was delicious, the pasta was just as good, and the desserts (tiramisu and cheesecake) were the perfect cherry on top.
The staff were also very friendly and funny, especially the waiter who served us, which made the whole experience even better.
All in all, a really great experience, delicious food and great atmosphere. Would definitely come again!

Food was nice (we had Lasagna) and tasty. Tiramissu and coffee were fine as well. It was a bit crowded but they managed to get us a table straight away. Prices are moderate and staff was polite. Tables are a bit smaller but that is common in Paris.

Enza Famiglia has the feel of a chain restaurant, with quick prepared foods and fast service.
For a starter we ordered a Caprese Salad to share. I ordered the Margarita pizza and my partner ordered the Pasta Pomodoro with whole tomatoes.
All three dishes arrived at the same time, so we split the salad while eating our meals.
The pizza crust was crispy and tasty, the tomato sauce didn't have much of a flavor and the cheese was very good.
My partners pasta was fine, light on tomato taste but fine.
The Caprese was very good with fresh tomatoes and hard mozzarella cheese.
Overall, not bad.

Absolutely loved this place! The fresh pasta with truffle was amazing — so fresh, delicious, and full of flavor. Saverio and his team were incredibly warm and welcoming, and the hospitality really made the whole experience special. The wine by the glass was also amazing. Especially the Nebbiolo. We were celebrating my wife’s birthday, and they made it so sweet and memorable for us. Wonderful food, wonderful people. We’ll definitely be back! ❤️🇮🇹

I wanted some Italian food and I was near the Louvre. I found this place on Google Maps, the restaurant is very nice although it was very hot inside. I had the carbonara pasta, which was very good. I also had an Italian salad. It was fine. Overall the food was great. Our server was very nice but the food took forever. I mean very long even for Europe. Definitely check this place out if you want some Italian food in Paris.

What an excellent café to start the day with in the middle of Paris! Amazing staff, and a cozy atmosphere. We were served food and drinks of the highest class. We even accidentally spilled our entire drink, and the staff washed up right away and made a new drink without asking for anything in return. They were very service-oriented and took everything with a smile. We can only praise the team. Definitely visiting again soon!

While staying in the neighborhood, Bistrot Richelieu became our go to restaurant. I dined here 3 or 4 times. The food was very good and the staff friendly. Their onion soup was among the best that I have had. They also have a burger made with a French cheese that was excellent. The beef tartare also deserves mention. Everything I ate there was great to excellent.

As a travel advisor hosting a group of 14 clients in France, finding a restaurant that can comfortably seat everyone together isn't always easy—but this restaurant exceeded every expectation!
Our server was absolutely amazing and took wonderful care of our group from start to finish. The atmosphere had the authentic French charm we were hoping for, making it the perfect place for a memorable group dinner.
The food was outstanding. I enjoyed the French onion soup, the cuisse de canard confit, and the homemade pain perdu for dessert. Around the table, everyone ordered something different—from escargot and burgers to the beef bourguignon—and every single dish received rave reviews.
Hands down, this is a fantastique restaurant! If you're visiting Paris, I highly recommend making a reservation, especially if you're traveling with a group.

The food was very delicious. We had a great experience there. The portions were generous and truly filling. The only thing that made me a bit uncomfortable was how close the tables were to each other. Me and my partner couldn’t have a proper conversation because the people sitting right next to us were from the same country as us 😅 it was especially a bad luck but still, a bit more room for conversation could be improved.

Last night was such a great experience. Our server, Clemont, was incredibly kind, attentive, and accommodating the whole time. We didn’t even get a chance to ask the manager’s name, but the service overall felt very warm and welcoming.
The food was great and the place had such a cool, very French vibe exactly the kind of atmosphere you hope for. Everything felt relaxed but well taken care of. Definitely a place worth coming back to.

We found this restaurant on our last night in Paris. Easily our best meal. I had the beef bourguignon, my husband had steak frites, my mom had the chicken with ratatouille and I think we all had the French onion soup. My husband also got the Camembert with onion jam on toast. FABULOUS. The desserts were also phenomenal. The service was great, everyone was kind and the food was excellent

Great restaurant near the Louvre. The staff were very friendly, and our waiter pleasantly surprised us by knowing a few words in Polish. They were also very helpful and let us charge our phone.

Yum! Great food and great value. Kiddo and I came here after going to the “more upscale” place across the street where I had made a reservation. That place looked great to me but my teenager didn’t see anything she wanted on the menu, so we graciously excused ourselves, did a quick scan of the area, checked the reviews of this place, and headed over.
Our server/host (maybe the owner?) was great. I asked for a seat by the window and he accommodates us, but when a more spacious seat closer to the window opened up before we ordered he suggested we move there, and I was delighted.
The menu has something for everyone. Kiddo loved the pizza and I loved the falafel wrap. I wish we could have stayed longer to enjoy more people watching outside but we had a ticket for The Louvre. This is a great place for a pre- or post-Louvre meal if you want something reasonably priced with friendly service.

Atmosphere:
The place is right next to to the louvre. Has a modern entrance yet vintage on the inside.

We had an amazing dinner at Bistrot Victoires! The atmosphere was warm, authentic and full of Parisian charm. Every dish was delicious – we especially loved the escargots, duck confit with crispy potatoes, the creamy gratin, and the crème brûlée, which had a perfectly caramelized top. Everything was fresh, flavorful and beautifully prepared.
The service was friendly and efficient, and the prices were surprisingly reasonable for such high-quality French cuisine. This was one of the highlights of our trip to Paris. We will definitely come back on our next visit. Highly recommended!

We chose this restaurant for our third evening in Paris, and until we came here, we thought the other restaurants we had dined at were excellent. After eating here, our perspective changed completely! If we ever return to Paris, we will definitely visit this place again.
It was our first time trying French onion soup, and it was absolutely delicious. We had eaten escargots before, but the ones served here were even better.
For the main course, one of us ordered the steak, another chose the duck, and the third had the “Meat of the Day” (grilled veal). Unfortunately, the steak was a bit tough and did not meet our expectations. The cooking level was not quite right at first, but the staff kindly recooked it upon request. However, the grilled veal served on a skewer and the duck were both outstanding and full of flavor.
For dessert, we had the profiteroles and the crème brûlée. The profiteroles were different from what we are used to, as they were filled with ice cream instead of the traditional cream filling, but they were still very enjoyable. The crème brûlée was also excellent.
We would especially like to thank the staff for their warm hospitality, friendliness, and helpfulness. The excellent service started from the moment we arrived at the door and continued throughout our meal.
We must have visited at the perfect time because we didn’t have to wait at all to get in. However, by the time we left, there was a very long queue outside the restaurant, which speaks volumes about its popularity.

If you are in Paris you should definitely come here! The food is delicious, we ordered French Onion Soup, Duck Confit and Beef. The soup and duck was absolutely delicious! The desserts were the just right amount of sweet and not overwhelming. The prices are very reasonable and the staff were very friendly!

Arriving at 7.20pm meant we had no wait. We enjoyed a delicious cheesy and bread filled French onion soup (that I’m still thinking about.) My husband enjoyed the escargot, stating the butter sauce was “very good.” We also ordered the steak to come medium and it was quite dry, the chips required additional salt and the dish was lacking a sauce for the steak. The chicken was okay, the mashed potato’s dry and the sauce although thick, tasted mostly like stock. Despite this, service was attentive and food came quickly. The tables are very close to each other but not so bothersome. In all the entrees made up for the mains. Had we enjoyed mains, we would have tried the dessert.
JamesP C★★★★☆
We had the four Starters, the first salad, and the first main entry which are the most typical French dishes. Foods were cooked very well and the cost was reasonable for the quality and volume. Seating was tight. One male waiter was not very friendly and easygoing.

The crepes are exceptionally large and loaded, and packed with flavour and freshness. This is a bucket list restaurant for lunch that’s outstanding value. My kids loved the food. Happy Café was such a fun stop for us—definitely one we’ll remember!
We ordered two Nutella crepes, a Kinder Bueno crepe, a Nutella crepe with pistachio ice cream, and a marshmallow-topped donut, and everything was delicious. The crepes were warm, soft, and generously filled (we clearly couldn’t get enough of the Nutella 😄). The Kinder Bueno crepe was super indulgent and perfect for chocolate lovers, and the Nutella crepe with pistachio ice cream was a great combo—rich, creamy, and a little different. The donut topped with marshmallows was also a fun, sweet treat.
But by far, the highlight was the owner. He was absolutely hilarious and created such a welcoming, friendly atmosphere. He made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived, which really made the whole experience stand out.
Great desserts, amazing vibes, and an owner who truly makes the place special—we’d definitely come back!

Happy Café definitely lives up to its name. The people here are genuinely kind, friendly, and seem to enjoy what they do. The menu has plenty of great options, and everything we ordered was fresh and delicious. You can really see why it’s called Happy Café. It’s not just the food, it’s the people. We’d happily come back the next time we’re in Paris.
One small thing that really stood out: one of our orders was taking a little longer than expected, and since it was such a hot day, the staff brought us complimentary lemon drinks while we waited to make sure we stayed hydrated. It’s little gestures like that which turn a good meal into a memorable experience.

A true Parisian bistro with amazing home-made food and wines. Make sure to try their house specialty - gratine...the best one is with the duck ( magre du canard ). Just exceptional! But what I love the most is the atmosphere. It feels like you are waiting for your grandmother to finish baking your favourite dish...slowly and with a lot of love. The staff speaks English very well so you needn't worry. The only thing is you have to be patient and leave enough time , at least 2 hours for a meal and don't get annoyed if you wait more than half an hour for the food to be ready...it is well worth the wait. Relax, enjoy and soak up the atmosphere! The tart Tatin was pure 10 out of 10. This is my third time there and I will be back again for sure!

Our order was a Bistro gratin so it doesn’t have any eggs. But there were eggs in it ! Which I understand from the first bite! Also I’m not sure about the recèpe but all the materials were apart and in a light milky sauce 🙁 it wasn’t my first time to try gratin though ! I expected more (at least from the appearance).
The staff were friendly and polite but it took more than 30 minutes to bring our food which it’s too long .

Such a nice place. Out 1st time trying French quisine and it did not disappoint us. They were so nice, our kids had bought fries from somewhere and they let our kids sit and eat that with us. Definitely try their signature dish, it did not disappoint and was filling.

Such a lovely little place with delicious food, great atmosphere and friendly, hard working service. Recommend the cheese gratin (lots of different types) and the cocktails! Great value too. Despite the tiny kitchen, service was fast and friendly. It gets busy though so you might want to book

Super dining experience at this establishment. Showed up on a Friday evening and without a reservation and was quickly seated. Had a magnificent meal, including half a bottle of red for under 75 euro, for two people - as described. Great value!
Highly recommend this place. All dishes were delicious. Duck confit just fell of for the bone. Cheeses were great. The dessert was ridiculous.
Highly recommend it
I will be going again before my vacation is over
5/5!!!!!

One of the best restaurants in Paris! We waited for almost two hours because we didn’t reserve a table. The wait was well worth it! We got 4 starters, 3 mains, one dessert, and drinks, all for less than €60 in total for two people! One of the best value for money in Paris. We understand how it withstood the test of time, and why people queue for it. The different starters were amazing! The ratatouille, salad, and french soup were some of the highlights for me. Even the mains were filling and satisfying. Would definitely visit this place again and would book a reservation in advance. The staff was very polite and accommodating even though it was a very busy evening for them. They’re used to having tourists and locals. Highly recommended!

What can I say? Great service is the most important thing. Because when it comes to the food itself, I don't have to give a positive opinion, because that's what it is. Very tasty, affordable, and tastes like France. I recommend it to every tourist
I will just point out that it is very important to make a reservation in advance. Because those willing to eat without a reservation, the number of people waiting reaches several dozen meters
. I recommend for sure

A great restaurant if you want a meal with all the courses (appetizer, main, and dessert) with a reasonable price. though don't expect any major surprises—the food is solid and perfectly fine. We went in the afternoon, around 4 PM, so there was no wait. Ordering was quick, and the food arrived promptly, too. You can pay directly via an app using the QR code found at each table, which makes settling the bill incredibly easy. A overall good experience.

The restaurant operations are fantastic. We booked in advance and got our table so quickly. The restaurant has a great atmosphere, the system is efficient, and the staff are professional. Unfortunately, the food itself was very disappointing. Even with the budget-friendly prices, it wasn't worth it. You're better off saving your money and eating elsewhere.
Smart Tips for Eating on a Budget Near the Louvre
Navigating the dining scene near a major tourist attraction can be tricky, but with a little local knowledge, you can eat like a Parisian without emptying your wallet. The difference between a tourist trap and a hidden gem often comes down to timing, menu choices, and where you choose to sit. By following a few simple rules, you can maximize both the quality of your meal and the value you get for your money.
1. Opt for the "Formule" at Lunchtime: Many French restaurants offer a "formule" or "menu du jour" during weekday lunches. This typically includes a starter and a main course, or a main course and dessert, for a fixed price that is significantly lower than ordering à la carte in the evening.
2. Look for "Take Away" (À Emporter) Options: You often pay a premium for the privilege of sitting at a table with a view of the Louvre. Many bakeries and crêperies offer lower prices if you take your food to go. Grab a sandwich or a slice of quiche and enjoy a picnic in the nearby Jardin des Tuileries or the Cour Carrée of the Louvre.
3. Step Away from the Main Boulevards: The Rue de Rivoli and the streets directly facing the museum are prime real estate, and the prices reflect that. Walk just two or three blocks north into the 2nd arrondissement or east towards Les Halles, and you will find prices drop noticeably while the food quality often improves.
4. Drink Tap Water: In France, tap water ("une carafe d’eau") is free and perfectly safe to drink. Asking for a carafe instead of bottled water can save you €5 to €8 per person on your bill, which adds up quickly for families or groups.
5. Make Lunch Your Main Meal: If you want to experience a slightly nicer bistro, go at lunchtime. The same dishes that might cost €25 to €30 at dinner are often available for under €20 during the midday service, allowing you to enjoy a higher quality meal on a budget.
The area surrounding the Louvre is a living, breathing neighborhood, not just a museum district. Locals work here, shop here, and eat here every day, which means affordable and authentic food is absolutely available if you know where to look. By venturing just a few minutes away from the main tourist thoroughfares, you open yourself up to a world of culinary experiences that respect both your palate and your travel budget.
After a long morning spent admiring the Mona Lisa and the Venus de Milo, a good meal is the perfect way to recharge before continuing your Parisian adventure. Whether you choose a savory galette, a steaming bowl of noodles, or a simple baguette sandwich from a local boulangerie, you can rest assured that you have eaten well without paying a premium just for the location.
