From classic French bakeries to bustling Middle Eastern counters, the variety is staggering.

If you are planning a visit to the museum or simply exploring the neighborhood, you will need fuel. Whether you are looking for a quick bite between galleries or a sit-down meal without the sticker shock, there is an option for you. A cute nice little restaurant with very cosy sitting area. It got couple of tables only and they are close to each other, however I considered that part of the experience. Food is yummy and snails were perfectly cooked.

Last meal in Paris and was super fortunate to find this wonderful restaurant! Every dish was delicious and perfectly prepared. I didn’t plan on getting a dessert, but ended up ordering a second because the first was so good! Highly recommend the Brioche French Toast with ice cream. One of the best things I ate in the whole city! 10/10 will be back. Merci!

This small bistro in the heart of Paris is highly recommended. Their set menu quality of food relative to its price is impressive. It feels very home-style cooking presented in a more elevated way.
Yusuke Kuriki★★★★☆
Food was solid. I had their steak tartare. It was so good I went there again on the same trip. The couple next to me was having the beef wine stew, which also looked extremely delicious. Staff are friendly. Kitchen is highly efficient. Clean and cozy atmosphere. Definitely a restaurant I want to go back again.

Loved this spot. The staff was very friendly to us Americans. They had great food and a great atmosphere. We were able to sit outside under umbrellas but they had indoor seating as well. If you are visiting Notre Dame area this is a must stop for lunch.

This is one of these restaurants that cover cuisine from half the world, but in an very tasty way. We had delicious fish on steamed veggies and chicken tagine. I was worried when I saw the menu, however I was nicely surprised. The food was absolutely delicious.
Raluca Diaconu★★★★★
Absolutely fantastic food and service! We had boeuf bourguignon and a lemon chicken tagine and they were both so so flavorful and rich. (Everything else people were ordering around us looked pretty damn good too!) The beer selection is great, they have a happy hour too 💕 The service was fantastic too, thank you Uzzal for your recommendation! We also got complimentary green mint tea that was super flavorful, and little chocolates. Honestly, we must return here soon.
Veronica Kim★★★★★
We were in the area and decided to dine at Chouchou. The food was great and surpassed our expectations! We had the onion soup, escargot, steak, and duck confit. All the dishes were delicious. The staff is really kind and service was amazing. We will be back again! Highly recommend!
Asher★★★★★
Found this restaurant hrough a YouTuber who gave it glowing reviews, so we decided to give it a try while in Paris. We ordered the escargot, duck confit, onion soup, & for desserts, the crème brûlée & chocolate cake. The service was impeccable throughout the meal. Super attentive, warm, & welcoming. They had English menus & spoke to us in English. The staff were lovely, and they even gave us a complimentary hot tea & coffee on the house which was a nice touch. The food overall was very good. The duck confit was cooked really well, soft & tender, & even the potatoes were amazingly soft & comforting. The escargot was also surprisingly tender. The desserts were PHENOMENAL & honestly one of the highlights of the meal. The only downside for us was that most of the dishes leaned a little too salty for our taste. We came around 8.30pm with a reservation, though it didn’t seem strictly necessary. Also very thankful for the air-conditioning during the current heat wave in Paris. If we had more days here, we would definitely come back again.
Natsuki Tsuda★★★★★
I visited here by chance on the way to my hotel. I found my choice totally right after having lunch. The lunch menu has enough volume and tastes delicious. Moreover, the exceptional hospitality of the staff left a strong impression; they gave me a complementary pot of mint tea and a chocolate. If anything, espresso until the end! I highly recommend here. This restaurant could be your favorite place in Paris🥐

Super dining experience at this establishment. Showed up on a Friday evening and without a reservation and was quickly seated. Had a magnificent meal, including half a bottle of red for under 75 euro, for two people - as described. Great value! Highly recommend this place. All dishes were delicious. Duck confit just fell of for the bone. Cheeses were great. The dessert was ridiculous. Highly recommend it I will be going again before my vacation is over 5/5!!!!!
Josh Estrella★★★★★
One of the best restaurants in Paris! We waited for almost two hours because we didn’t reserve a table. The wait was well worth it! We got 4 starters, 3 mains, one dessert, and drinks, all for less than €60 in total for two people! One of the best value for money in Paris. We understand how it withstood the test of time, and why people queue for it. The different starters were amazing! The ratatouille, salad, and french soup were some of the highlights for me. Even the mains were filling and satisfying. Would definitely visit this place again and would book a reservation in advance. The staff was very polite and accommodating even though it was a very busy evening for them. They’re used to having tourists and locals. Highly recommended!
Kamil Dobosz★★★★★
What can I say? Great service is the most important thing. Because when it comes to the food itself, I don't have to give a positive opinion, because that's what it is. Very tasty, affordable, and tastes like France. I recommend it to every tourist I will just point out that it is very important to make a reservation in advance. Because those willing to eat without a reservation, the number of people waiting reaches several dozen meters . I recommend for sure
Italo Fernandes★★★★☆
A great restaurant if you want a meal with all the courses (appetizer, main, and dessert) with a reasonable price. though don't expect any major surprises—the food is solid and perfectly fine. We went in the afternoon, around 4 PM, so there was no wait. Ordering was quick, and the food arrived promptly, too. You can pay directly via an app using the QR code found at each table, which makes settling the bill incredibly easy. A overall good experience.
Rom Win★★★☆☆
The restaurant operations are fantastic. We booked in advance and got our table so quickly. The restaurant has a great atmosphere, the system is efficient, and the staff are professional. Unfortunately, the food itself was very disappointing. Even with the budget-friendly prices, it wasn't worth it. You're better off saving your money and eating elsewhere.

Best place to eat home cook food. Everytime we eat here, it somehow taste like home. I'm just hoping there's more vegetables on there food. And the aunt here is super nice. Give this place a try 😉

Great little place with very fair-prices dishes that taste delicious. I tried the Chinese-styles beef soup and was impressed. And especially given the price of 7,90€. The staff was very attentive and the place not too crowded. The restaurant is conveniently located close to the Centre Pompidou. Definitely worth a try when you are around. Don’t expect anything fancy - it’s all about the essentials here: a cheap and delicious meal.

Wow, best beef noodle I've had outside of Taiwan! and I live in San Francisco Bay Area! I was not expecting to love the beef noodle this much. It's got a bit of a vinegar kick that I really enjoyed. Flavorful broth, tender beef (huge amounts of beef) and hand pulled noodles. Only 8 euros! Great food + great price. Great place to visit and right across the street from Pompidou center. Props to the lady that works here. Super efficient and friendly. She's super woman. Kudos to the chef. Thanks for a great Chinese meal in Paris!
Peiyao★★★★★
This is definitely one of the best soup noodle restaurants that you can find in terms of price-quality relationship. The beef soup noodle only costs 8euro and the portion is huge. Soup is tasty and the beef is tender and well marinaded in soy sauce. Chilli oil and vinegar are offered on the table in case customers want to adjust the flavor. The atmosphere is nothing about fancy but still clean and cozy. The staff here are really friendly. If you want some cheap tasty meal and are not too picky about the environment, I definitely recommend this place.
Melody Ho★★★★★
We found this unassuming little restaurant in a rush, just coming out of the Centre Pompidou (only 2mins away on foot), and were blown away by the food, service, and prices. To start off, I casually asked how long it would take as we were in a rush, and the owner was more than understanding. She recommended dishes that would take quicker and our fried rice dishes and fried noodles were on our table within five minutes. Extremely kind and friendly, and watching the other customers you could tell she has that rapport with everyone. The food! No frills, just simple, and damn good. We ordered a veggie fried rice, chicken fried rice, and veggie fried noodles. It was much better than most else I’ve had at other “asian fusion” restaurants at double the price. The portions were also very generous. This is the kind of food my friend and I, both being from Taiwan, ate growing up at neighbourhood places. To have found this in Paris, after living abroad for so long, really warmed my heart. I would absolutely recommend this place to anybody looking for authentic food of southern Chinese origin.

I came here for a casual meal and the place had a relaxed, modern vibe. The menu was fairly simple but well put together, and the food tasted fresh. Nothing felt overdone, just an easy and decent dining experience overall.

Very fast service. Gyozas were delicious. We had the Thai curry, Pad Thai, and the vegan luk loc which were all really well prepared. The disappointment though was the Thai flan. Didn't quite work for me - was a bit off texture wise. Still a good place for the savory foods. Decently priced.
Arman Barbuco★★★★☆
The food taste good and service is fast. The place is clean and neat with good atmosphere. People just enjoy talking while dining. The best part of my food is the tom yang soup. The fried chicken with sauce is good too. The dessert is just ok. All in all it’s a good experience. I can recommend and I’ll try again if I am in the area.

We honestly had low expectations. Was drawn to the live jazz & everything exceeded expectations 🧆food: yummy. Pleasantly surprised. I thought this place was more for the vibe but the food was great! I had the escargot and duck confit. 🍽️ Service: top notch. They moved us to a better table for the breeze and music when they saw we liked jazz! They let Luna sit inside (during the heatwave) & even shifted the fan toward us - they also had ac I believe. When I couldn't figure out the escargot 🤦🏻‍♀️, very sweet way and no pretentiousness 🎼 vibe: casual, lively (packed inside) and live music! Great for solo dining or with friends. Pup friendly.

The dining experience at this restaurant was excellent. The environment is very pleasant and comfortable, creating a relaxing and enjoyable atmosphere. The staff were also very attentive and friendly. From being seated to ordering and serving, their service was thoughtful and professional, which made us feel very well taken care of. The menu offers a great variety of dishes, and everything was prepared with care. The steak was incredibly tender and cooked perfectly, with a juicy and flavorful taste. The BBQ pork ribs were also outstanding, with rich layers of flavor and a delicious sauce that complemented the tender meat very well. Overall, it was a wonderful dining experience. The combination of great ambiance, attentive service, and delicious food makes this restaurant definitely worth visiting again.

Delicious dinner! I rarely return to a place when I travel so much can experience as much as possible. With Chez Loulou, I had to come back the next week! Their chicken tagine is excellent and the service is top notch. I love the live music (it doesn’t overwhelm your meal, just enhances it) and I highly recommend you make this spot one of your Parisian favorites as well.

What a lovely place that unfortunately we have found Only in the last few hours of Our staying in Paris. I had the sautéed veal in the mushroom cream, and my son had tandoori chicken salad. Both very fresh and filling. We each had the pain perdu for dessert, and alongside a beer it all came to just over €40. Lovely atmosphere with lots of people watching opportunities, and very amiable staff. It seems like a family run restaurant. Also kosher/halal food for those to whom it matters.
KATHLENE FRANCIS★★★★★
We had a delightful experience at Chez LouLou! Each dish we tried was delicious. The art history was enchanting and woven throughout the experience. The staff was warm and welcoming. We’ll be back to check out the live jazz music in the evening.

I’ve been coming to this restaurant for quite a while now, and it has become one of my favorite places in Paris. The food is consistently delicious, the ambiance is warm and cozy, and it’s a place where I always feel comfortable spending time. It’s also quite spacious, which makes it perfect for bringing friends and family. Everyone I’ve brought here has had a wonderful experience. One of my absolute favorites is the chicken momos. They’re generously filled with a flavorful, juicy filling, and the mint chutney that comes with them is incredible I never get enough of it! The rest of the menu is equally impressive, and everything I’ve tried has been fresh and full of flavor. I also have to mention the chai. I love a rich, milky chai, and they make it exactly the way I like it. It’s the perfect way to end a meal. Overall, this is a place I genuinely enjoy and keep coming back to. The food, the atmosphere, and the overall experience are always excellent. I’ll definitely continue bringing my friends and family here because it’s truly one of my favorite spots in Paris.
Andre★★★★★
A great restaurant with delicious food and authentic flavor. I stopped by little yak and ordered two order of the momo as well as some Liangphi and butter tea. All of the dishes were great. The Sichuan sauce that came with one order of the momo is definitely something I would recommend. Don't skip on the butter tea either! If you've never tried it, it's definitely something new but delicious nonetheless. The service is quick and the ambiance was homey. All in all, I would recommend little yak if you're craving some warm, comforting food.

Really delicious and flavorful food, with just the right amount of spice. We also tried a Nepalese beer and an iced tea, both of which were very good. The staff was very friendly and welcoming, and the food arrived quickly. Overall, a great experience, definitely recommend!!

We had the best meal of our entire trip in Paris at this restaurant. I’m already dreaming of having the beef tartare again — it literally melted in my mouth. Both dishes were absolutely incredible! When we are back in Paris, we will definitely return and recommend this place to our friends.

We had a wonderful experience at Les Acrobates. The service was excellent—friendly, attentive, and welcoming throughout our visit. The Caesar salad was one of the best we’ve had in Paris: fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. The Croque Madame was also fantastic and absolutely delicious. In fact, most of the dishes we tried were excellent. If you’re looking for great food and outstanding service in Paris, Les Acrobates is definitely worth a visit. Highly recommended!

Had a cheeky late lunch at this restaurant. Even though I've been to France before, this was my first time trying French onion soup, and blimey, it was proper tasty! Absolutely loved the retro vibes in this joint, just my cup of tea.

Amazing French restaurant! The owner was so kind to seat us and give us recommend us the food to order. Escargot was a must try! I truly recommend. English menu is available and it’s the same price as the French menu 😉. Interior was also funky and kinda looks like an American diner, but don’t be fooled, food was really good!

When the waiter came we ordered a bottle of wine for the adults and only tap water for the kids. We came in as a group of 9 and got a table immediately. We tried house wines (white, red and rose) during happy hour and all were super tasty. Beef tartare was a big hit for us and we also tried fish and chips, chicken burger and a vegetarian dish and all were lovely. Service is quite fast and accommodating to large groups. Everything is very reasonably priced and location is incredible. Recommend!

This was the first restaurant we went to in Paris and sadly it was t one of the top. The service and atmosphere were fine but the food was not. I got the chicken supreme and the chicken was INCREDIBLY dry. So much so that I could only eat half of it which was disappointing because chicken was the main part of the dish. The sauce didn’t even help. We also got the vegetable pasta which was literally steamed vegetables in pasta with absolutely no seasoning and no sauce of any sort. My child ordered the cheeseburger and frites - frites has no seasoning so just fried potatoes. And like the chicken, the meat patty was overcooked and dry. We were hungry and we had to pay for it so we ate what we could but it was not enjoyable which it should have been. I will say that the tuna and leek terrine was tasty, we all enjoyed that. We went because the restaurant was close and got very high reviews. Maybe it was just an off night in the kitchen but I can’t, in good faith say we had the same experience as others have reviewed. I originally rated the restaurant a 1 star but I’ve adjusted to 2 stars in hopes that there are other dishes that may be better and because the service was okay.

Stopped here for lunch while making my way back to my hotel on a very hot May weekday in Paris. Shade and eating outside was nice. However, it might have been the season, but sitting right next to shrubs led to tiny bugs (aphids?) on me and and the table. Slight annoyance. My server Ocean (?) was incredibly friendly and helpful. Food and drink were very good.

We were on our way to another restaurant for dinner when we passed Le Petit Marcel. The menu looked inviting, and the waiter was so welcoming that we decided to change plans and give it a try. We started with a lovely Sauvignon Blanc, razor clams in a fragrant garlic-parsley butter sauce, and a refreshing sea bass ceviche with lime and coconut. For our mains, we followed the recommendation and ordered the grilled salmon special. The salmon was perfectly cooked, and the accompanying salad—with peaches and stracciatella—was absolutely delicious. Every dish was thoughtfully prepared and full of flavor. A wonderful dining experience from start to finish, and a hidden gem we would gladly recommend to anyone visiting Paris.

Fantastic French bistro! My wife tried escargot for the first time at dinner here, and we came back for lunch the next day for more snails. They have an amazing staff and everything we tried was amazing. No better place to end up after a long walk through the Marais.

This was by far our favorite meal of our girls trip. The steak was outstanding, the wine, the atmosphere. I had the Onglet de boeuf with Chimichurri and fries! So so good! Caesar salad I wouldn’t order again personally. It lacked flavor but everything else we had was outstanding. The waitress was wonderful!!! She had wonderful wine pairings and wonderful recommendations.

We had intentions of finding a proper french restaurant to try some french cuisine as it was our first time in France/Paris and this did not disappoint. Leaurent our server was very engaging and gave some great suggestions and the food came out amazing. Prices were fair and there was plenty of options for every persons taste. We had the beef tartare and the marinated fillet and would recommend both. The snails were also amazing.

The exterior is deceptive. Looks lovely with the flowers. Sadly the interior is not at all special, and nor is the food. The entrecote was chewy, and more expensive than better options you can find right on the Champs Elysée. The risotto was thick and stodgy.

I always come here for the service and the friendliness of the waiter and the bartender. Everything is delicious and their cocktails are magnificent! But lately, I’ve been greeted by a guy with a really bad attitude... It’s uncomfortable right from the start; he makes you feel like you’re bothering him 🙁

This restaurant has such lovely decorations which make it feel cosy and warm! The food is all very tasty, the beef tartare especially. It’s quite a mix of authentic French food with a modern twist which is very refreshing.

Excellent value for money. A €15.90 lunchtime Formule. Great meal choices. Loved the oeuf mayonnaise and the faux-fillet avec writes et salad. Lovely place

Not worth it at all. As an Asian, I can’t tolerate how they discriminate us even if we paid for their food. They did not wanted to explain the dishes to use, no service at all. We spent 15 minutes to order a dish as the waiter keep walking away when we was ordering. Also, he just threw the spoon on the table. It’s really horrible experience.

Tips for Eating on a Budget Near the Pompidou

To maximize your culinary budget in this bustling district, a little local knowledge goes a long way. The difference between an overpriced meal and a bargain often comes down to timing and how you order. By adopting the habits of the locals, you can easily cut your food costs in half while actually improving the quality of what you eat.

Look for the "Formule" or "Menu du Jour"
The single best way to eat cheaply in France is to order the fixed-price lunch menu. Almost every café and bistro offers a "formule" during the week, typically consisting of a starter and main course, or a main course and dessert. These menus are usually priced between 12 and 18 euros, offering a significant discount compared to ordering à la carte. Look for chalkboards outside the door advertising these deals, as they change daily based on what the chef found at the market.

Embrace the Takeaway Bakeries (Boulangeries)
You do not need a sit-down restaurant to eat like a king in Paris. The local bakeries are the backbone of affordable dining. Grab a fresh baguette sandwich, a slice of quiche, or a savory croissant for under 6 euros. Many boulangeries in the Marais also sell mini-pizzas and salads. Take your haul to the Place Igor Stravinsky, right next to the Pompidou, and enjoy a picnic while watching the street performers and the famous fountains.

Dine During Lunch, Not Dinner
The price difference between lunch and dinner in Paris can be astronomical. A dish that costs 14 euros at noon might cost 22 euros at 8 p.m. for the exact same preparation. If you want to experience a specific restaurant, plan it as your main meal of the day. You will get the same atmosphere and quality of food for a fraction of the evening price, leaving you free to grab a simple crepe or kebab for dinner.

Venture into the Jewish Quarter (Rue des Rosiers)
Just a five-minute walk from the Pompidou is the historic Jewish Quarter, a haven for hearty, affordable food. Here you will find world-famous falafel stands and delis serving massive sandwiches. A falafel pita loaded with fried eggplant, hummus, and salad is often under 10 euros and is substantial enough to keep you full for hours. It is one of the best value meals in the entire city.

Say No to the "Terrasse" Premium
In France, the price of your coffee or meal often depends on where you sit. Standing at the bar (au comptoir) is the cheapest option, while sitting inside is mid-range. Sitting on the outdoor terrace usually incurs a surcharge. If you are trying to save money but need to rest your feet, opt for a table inside or at the bar. You will pay less for the same product and often get faster service from the waitstaff.

As you plan your day around the iconic exposed pipes and colorful escalators of the Centre Pompidou, rest assured that your stomach is in good hands. The surrounding neighborhood is a testament to the fact that Parisian food does not need to be expensive to be memorable. By stepping off the main square, you unlock a world of flavors that reflect the true diversity of the city.

Whether you choose a warm falafel, a classic bistro formule, or a simple crepe from a street vendor, you are participating in the local culture. Eating well here is about the freshness of the ingredients and the history of the streets, not the price tag. Enjoy the art, enjoy the atmosphere, and most importantly, enjoy your meal.
