Reims may be world-famous for its grand cathedral and prestigious Champagne houses, but the city has quietly cultivated a vibrant, plant-forward dining scene that deserves equal attention. Whether you live in the Marne region or are visiting for a weekend of bubbly and history, finding a satisfying meat-free meal is no longer a challenge. From cozy cafés tucked behind the Place du Forum to modern bistros near the Boulingrin, vegetarian cuisine in Reims has evolved into something creative, seasonal, and deeply rooted in French terroir.
The shift toward vegetable-centric cooking reflects a broader change in French gastronomy. Chefs in Reims are increasingly treating locally grown produce, artisanal cheeses, and heritage grains as the stars of the plate rather than mere accompaniments. This means vegetarians can experience the same care, technique, and regional pride that traditionally went into meat-based classics. You will find everything from refined tasting menus to casual bowls packed with lentils, roasted root vegetables, and tangy vinaigrettes.
One of the joys of eating vegetarian in Reims is the access to outstanding raw materials. The surrounding Champagne countryside supplies restaurants with crisp seasonal vegetables, creamy Chaource cheese, pink lentils from Champagne, and fragrant herbs. Many establishments work directly with local market gardeners and organic farms, so menus change frequently. What you eat in June will differ beautifully from what arrives on your plate in October.
Navigating a city known for jambon de Reims and andouillette might seem intimidating for non-meat eaters, but you will be pleasantly surprised. A growing number of dedicated vegetarian and vegan-friendly addresses have opened in recent years, while many traditional brasseries now offer clearly labeled plant-based options. The key is knowing where to look, from the lively Halles du Boulingrin market area to the quieter streets near the Cathedral of Notre-Dame.
This guide focuses on restaurants that genuinely understand vegetarian cooking rather than simply removing the meat from a dish. Each recommendation was selected based on the quality of ingredients, consistency, atmosphere, and how well the kitchen caters to plant-based diners. Whether you want a quick, nourishing lunch or an elegant dinner with a glass of local Champagne, there is a table in Reims waiting for you.
Below, you will find ten standout addresses that showcase the best of vegetarian dining in the city. They range from fully plant-based kitchens to omnivore restaurants with exceptional vegetarian menus, giving you plenty of variety for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Amazing service, delicious food and such a friendly environment. Definitely one of the best breakfast spots in Reims! Highly recommended! We had such a great breakfast here and would absolutely recommend it to anyone visiting Reims! We came as a large group and the staff went out of their way to accommodate us and make sure everyone was comfortable. They were incredibly kind, patient and welcoming from the moment we arrived. The food was excellent, everything tasted fresh, homemade and full of flavor. All the dishes arrived warm and beautifully prepared and you could really tell they care about quality! The atmosphere was also very cozy and pleasant which made the whole experience even better.

Lovely characterful vegetarian cafe. We had a lunch formula for €21 which included a main, a side, a cake and a drink. Very tasty and interesting food served in vintage crockery.

Unfortunately, I did not have the chance to enjoy lunch here, but I was surprised to be told that I was not welcome with two kids because the only available table (with two seats) was too small for me and my kids. I would have had my one-year-old on my lap. Therefore, I can’t comment on the food, but I was very disappointed with how we were welcomed.

We absolutely loved the food and had such a wonderful experience with the chef! A huge thank you for still preparing the chicken fresh especially for us, even though we arrived too late for lunch. And the delicious mousse au chocolat on top was the perfect ending! Thank you so much for making our meal so special! ❤️

The home-style cooking is a real treat: flavorful, generous dishes prepared with quality ingredients. You can taste the skill and passion in every plate.
Thank you, Saranda, for this wonderful experience; we will definitely be back!

Really delicious and fresh brunch/lunch fare for the health conscious. Expat Americans who miss those coastal city health food brunch spots would love this place. The celery juice blend I had was so good. As was the chicken bowl with avocado and accompanying bread. Will definitely come back. The terrace is on a very beautiful town square. Inside is a standard hipster atmosphere with a fleet of cute little French waiters (tous bruns) and an efficient and friendly hostess.
If you're an American please don't annoy the busy stuff with a lot of substitution requests. This is not done in France. The chefs put the plates together thoughtfully and they are perfect as they are.

I chose the Green Glo Salad with fresh salmon and vegetables. Very fresh and delicious ingredients with perfectly cooked Salmon. The Chocolate Cake was wonderful, served warm with a vanilla sauce. I wanted to try something different while I was in Reims, and I really liked the concept here. Everything was delicious, I especially loved the dessert!

The concept is interesting because all flavors are enhanced. Good value and quantity of food for the money. Also the quality is very nice.
The place is decorated in a modern and flavorful manner. The service is excellent.

This place is a gem that we spontaneously found but we absolutely love it! We love how the chef uses creativity, superb taste and knowledge of the ingredients to design the menu. I love how refreshing the sea bream tartare starter dish is, the lime and coconut flavour and the use of dill make it very refreshing. Perfect for the summer. The steamed main dishes bring out the pure flavour of the fresh ingredients of the vegetables (addition of fennels for the fish, and the use of figs to complement the guinea fowl supreme). The dessert draws an amazing close to the meal. The colour scheme of the whole place is in this lovely aqua / turquoise colour too. Very friendly staff. English menu available. Organic ingredients used.

Nice little restaurant with very good homemade food. Everything is on display and ready to be steamed and served.
Everything was delicious entrée. Plat and dessert!

A plethora of options on hand here. The wide variety of ethnic-inspired food options combined with an extensive drink menu were a plus. Snappy service also!

We had a lovely lunch outside, taking in the ambience of Reims. We had great service from our waiter Cameron, who was very friendly and helped us, as our French isn’t very good. The food was exactly what we wanted and the glasses of champagne we had were of really good quality and reasonably priced compared with nearby restaurants.
Tony★★★☆☆
Tourist trap. Service was truly great. Its a really nice vibe but the people in charge of the menu have become lazy. Gyoza’s, nachos and steak and fries on the menu. About the steak there was no salt and the chimichurie sauce went into the blender. Fries were ok also no salt and the ham from the freezer. Would wind down expectations.

As others have said, a refreshing contrast from the delicious but otherwise heavy and overly formal traditional French cuisine. The proprietor is very kind. The seasoning was a bit bland but nothing that some salt couldn’t brighten. I appreciate all the vegetables.

Absolutely scrumptious bowl of sweet potato, carrot and ginger soup. Just the best thing on a freezing winter's day.

A wonderful small place with healthy offerings.
We ate salads, soup, a good pie and my favorite, a chia seeds dessert with fresh pineapple bits and fresh pomegranate seeds.
The green tea was also fabulous.
The sweet owner speaks a little English and has a really warm smile.

Very cool spot in a secluded street in the center of Reims. Delicatessen/spice store/coffee shop all in the same joint.
Held by 2 lovely ladies; they prepare daily dishes (meat & vegetarian) using local produce & a TON of flavor. They also sell items from all over the world: Spanish sardines, greek feta, Andalusian olives & Lebanese spices. Very eco-friendly as well (no plastic or commercial products).
Cool place to relax & chill, or to work with laptop.
Tried their meat dish: flavorful meatballs with a cumin fragrance, spicy leeks, Fresh side salad, perfectly cooked Lebanese moughrabiye, and a juicy white asparagus.
Copious dish with a savory explosion!!
Will definitely come back😋😋

What a fantastic place! Very homely feel. You can tell the daily menu and food are prepared with a lot of care and love. Fresh and seasonal products are used to make the most delicious dishes. We were with a mixed group of vegetarians, pescatarians and all eaters, this was no problem. Everyone had an spectaculair lunch! Would love to visit again!

Lovely ladies and nice atmosphere however no barista coffee machine… I’m sorry but €4.50 per coffee from a press button machine is just too expensive. That said I didn’t try the food so they may be better in this area but coffee was not good.

A fantastic dining experience! The prawn risotto was absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection. We also had dessert, which was equally tasty—a great way to end the meal.
The interior design is beautiful and creates a wonderful atmosphere. Pro tip: You definitely need to visit the restrooms! The design and decor there are very interesting and worth a look.
The service was top-notch, and the champagne was excellent. I highly recommend this place for both the food and the unique vibe!

Absolutely fabulous! The décor is stunning, the atmosphere relaxed and welcoming, and the food was simply to die for. A truly memorable brunch experience in Reims. We will definitely be back!" 🍾✨

I had a wonderful experience at Harold Le Restaurant in Reims. I stopped in for an Americano and a slice of cake, and both were absolutely delightful — the coffee was smooth and well-balanced, and the cake was fresh and delicious.
The service stood out just as much as the food; the staff were genuinely friendly, attentive, and accommodating, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The restaurant itself is beautifully artistic, with thoughtful details in its design that make it feel both stylish and inviting.
A lovely bonus is the gift shop next door, filled with exquisite and unique pieces that complement the restaurant’s creative ambiance. It’s the kind of place where you can enjoy not only excellent food and coffee, but also a truly memorable experience.
Highly recommended if you’re in Reims!

Quite possibly the best meal of our entire European vacation! Quiet tucked away courtyard was an absolute treat for our weekday lunch before wine tasting. The service was incredibly warm and attentive. The food hard to beat - the gazpacho was perfect for a hot day! Highly recommend Harold to all in Reims.

Really great little place tucked off the busy street. The staff was really efficient and accomodating particularly going the extra mile for children to enjoy there experience too! Two swaps from the kids menu!
Really nice dishes, fresh food.

I spent three weeks in Reims for a work trip and this was my absolute favourite brunch spot by far.
A co-worker loved this place so much we went back three times! We chatted with the owners on our visits and we began to feel like regulars. It would have been four times but we tried on a weekend without reservation and there wasn’t room for 4 of us; honestly, I wasn’t surprised, so if you’re visiting on a weekend I’d recommend a reservation.
Their sweet and savoury options are sooooo good. I had the braised lamb bowl, chicken and waffles, and their brioche French toast is to die for!
I used to work in the restaurant industry and I’m a big foodie, their plates were so full of deliciousness in every corner.
I loved their fresh apple/orange/ginger juice it was so healthy, their autumn cappuccino was delicious.
If you’re in Reims, it’s an absolute must!

Food was great. Even though we did not have a reservation on a Sunday morning the staff was very in helpful in trying to accommodate us. Would definitely recommend to make a reservation though. Very very friendly service.

Top top top! We were 3 and all our plates were absolutely exquisite! Felt like a customized brunch where the presentation and ingredients were in harmony. Chill ambiance and the service matched the food. A must try if your are in Reims.

Very good lunch here if you are looking for something different. The pictures look very nice from all reviewers and tastewise, it's really delicious! I love the grilled cheese toast!
Benjamin Teo★★★★★
Great place! I only took photos of the mains but you'll notice the other reviews with great photos of the food and reviews. No, they don't scam people by asking them to leave a review and give a free item or a discount.
Set meal we got was 1 main, 1 dessert, 1 hot drink and 1 cold drink. The set cost €32 each. The value for one is amazing. The food came in fast but hot. Only qualm I had was my waffle was a bit less warm than I had preferred. Drinks were all great, we had the matcha latte and golden latte which we guess was a spiced turmeric latte (how has no one made this a thing????)
Service was very friendly even though the staff was busy with a heavy lunch crowd. Seems like there are 3 seating and it is recommended to make a reservation. We came slightly after 2pm and it seemed like a group had left so we didn't have to wait for a table.
Worth coming back.

We ordered there a combo o chicken and steak, and both were delicious, very well done and tender. My 3 and 4 y olds were able to eat it easily and loved it as well. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
If you like some plain meat options different than hamburgers very nicely done and on a simple and relaxing set without over-complications, this is the place for sure, there are plenty of seats.
The lady who served us was also very friendly. As soon as she noticed that I had some difficulty speaking French, she immediately switched to English and did a great job explaining the menu and the different options.
I will definitely come back the next time I am in Reims.

Everything was excellent! The chicken was crispy and juicy, the poivre sauce was delicious. Even the salad dressing was great. Highly recommend for a no be frills meal in Reims.
Chahna Gorania★★★★★
We ordered the chicken dishes from the menu and they certainly didn’t disappoint. The chicken was cooked perfectly, incredibly tender, and packed with flavour thanks to the amazing seasoning.
The fries were also delicious and complemented the meal really well. In fact, this ended up being our favourite meal of the entire trip and the best food we had in the region.
The service was excellent throughout, with a warm and welcoming atmosphere that made the experience even better. We would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting the area.
Alexandros Markatis★★★★★
Amazing place for a quick lunch or dinner. I went there late afternoon so there was no waiting line. The staff was super friendly and spoke in English, as my French is not very good (apologies for that). The Irish Angus was tender and nicely salted, the chicken was perfect and the chips hand cut and crispy. Highly recommended place!!
Rian Gonzales★★★★★
Been wanting to try this restaurant since every time I pass by it's always full of customers. I'm happy we came around lunch time and got their formule which was a complete meal + a choice of drink or dessert for €17.
I'm usually fond of restaurants that specialize only on one thing and La Brigade is one of those. It's a pretty straightforward concept, no frills, fast and an enjoyable dining experience. I got an onglet de bœuf and my husband had a poulet pané. The beef was a bit overcooked than what i ordered but I still enjoyed my experience in the restaurant anyway. The fries were perfectly cooked, they feel like fait maison and not industriL 💖 the roquefort miel and chimi-pesto sauces were delightful and I'm excited to try the other sauces 😊 the framboise pastèque tea and citronnade maison were super good, I highly recommend it! 💖
Our server was very nice and courteous despite a busy lunch service. People were starting to pile up at the cashier and he took the initiative to give us the bill and process our payment at the table.
I'm definitely coming back to try their other offerings 😊💖
Tips for Finding Great Vegetarian Food in Reims
A little local knowledge goes a long way when you are exploring a French city with a strong meat tradition. These practical tips will help you eat well, avoid disappointment, and discover dishes you might otherwise miss while navigating Reims as a vegetarian.
1. Time your visit around market days. The Halles du Boulingrin, Reims’ covered market, is open on Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday mornings. Even if you do not plan to cook, the surrounding cafés and lunch counters often feature market-driven vegetarian specials on these days. It is the best way to taste the freshest seasonal produce in a casual setting.
2. Learn the local vocabulary. While many servers speak some English, knowing a few French phrases helps enormously. “Je suis végétarien” or “Je suis végétarienne” clearly states your diet. If you do not eat eggs or dairy, say “Je suis végétalien” or “végétalienne.” Asking “Y a-t-il des plats sans viande ni poisson ?” shows respect and often leads to off-menu suggestions.
3. Do not overlook omnivore restaurants. Some of the best vegetarian plates in Reims are found at traditional bistros that take vegetables seriously. Look for menus that highlight seasonal produce, mention market-fresh ingredients, or offer a dedicated vegetarian starter and main. These kitchens often have more flexibility than a menu suggests, so politely asking about vegetable-focused options can yield excellent results.
4. Book ahead for dinner. Reims is a compact city, and the most popular vegetarian-friendly tables fill quickly, especially on weekends and during the busy Champagne tourism season from April to October. A quick phone call or online reservation ensures you are not left hunting for a late-night meal when kitchens begin closing.
5. Pair your meal with local drinks beyond Champagne. While a glass of grower Champagne is always a treat, Reims also sits near excellent still wine regions and craft breweries. Many vegetarian dishes pair beautifully with a crisp Chardonnay from the Coteaux Champenois or a local artisanal beer. Ask your server for a pairing that complements the vegetables rather than overpowering them.
6. Embrace the French lunch rhythm. Most restaurants serve lunch between noon and 2 p.m., and dinner service often does not begin until 7 p.m. or later. Plan your day around these hours, because finding a full vegetarian meal outside them can be difficult. A late-afternoon snack at a boulangerie or café will tide you over if needed.
Reims has grown into a genuinely welcoming destination for vegetarian travelers and locals alike. The city’s chefs are proving that French cuisine can honor its traditions while embracing a more plant-forward future. By choosing restaurants that value provenance, seasonality, and technique, you will experience a side of Reims that many visitors never discover.
As you plan your meals, remember that the best dining experiences often come from a spirit of curiosity. Ask questions, try unfamiliar vegetables, and let the local ingredients guide you. Whether you are refueling after a morning of cathedral visits or toasting a special occasion with a plant-based feast, Reims offers a table where you will feel completely at home.
