10 Best Cafes in Ronda

Perched dramatically atop the El Tajo gorge, Ronda is a destination that captivates travelers with its breathtaking views, rich history, and undeniable romantic charm. Beyond the iconic Puente Nuevo bridge and ancient bullring, the city offers a thriving local café culture waiting to be explored. Finding the perfect spot for a morning espresso, a light lunch, or an afternoon pastry is an essential part of the Ronda experience.

The local coffee scene here is a delightful blend of traditional Spanish bars and modern specialty coffee shops. You can easily find a century-old institution serving café con leche next to a trendy spot offering single-origin pour-overs. Understanding this mix is key to curating a list that serves every type of traveler.

For digital nomads and modern travelers, the availability of reliable Wi-Fi and comfortable workspaces has become a significant factor in choosing a café. While Ronda’s historic center is rooted in tradition, several establishments have adapted to welcome remote workers. We have evaluated these spaces to ensure you can stay connected while enjoying the local atmosphere.

Our selection process involved visiting numerous establishments, analyzing the quality of their coffee beans, and assessing the authenticity of their pastries and tapas. We also considered location, specifically whether a café offers a view of the gorge or sits in a quiet, shaded plaza. This ensures that every recommendation provides not just sustenance, but a memorable sensory experience.

We prioritized places that demonstrate a genuine passion for their craft, whether through sourcing local Andalusian ingredients or roasting their own beans. The friendliness of the service and the overall ambiance were equally important in our evaluation. A great café is more than just a pit stop; it is a place to rest your feet after climbing the city’s steep streets and soak in the local rhythm.

This guide is designed to save you time and prevent the disappointment of a mediocre meal in a tourist trap. We have included a variety of options, from budget-friendly breakfast spots to elegant spaces perfect for an afternoon indulgence. Each venue has been selected for its unique contribution to Ronda’s vibrant culinary landscape.

Below, you will find our curated list of the ten best cafes in Ronda, categorized by their strengths to help you find exactly what you are looking for during your visit.

Nothing spectacular. I got a decent caramel latte, crunchy salmon toast (ordered the bagel), and a good chai latte. Place was mostly populated with tourists which is fine, but just worth noting. The drinks were good. The toast was so crisp it hurt to eat. Definitely not a culinary experience but not bad.
S. K.★★★★☆
I had an oat cappuccino and an americano to go and both were just ok. The cappuccino was not well prepared and the americano was boiling hot, meaning all flavors were destroyed by too much heat. The orange juice was good though. The outdoor seating is nice but be aware it is on the main square and rather busy. The service was ok, but simply not personal. One can feel that this is a hot spot and no matter how good the service, they will always have new guests. It's nice to try, but there are better coffee places in town.

After walking about all morning we stopped here for coffee and ice cream. The ice cream was super creamy and yummy. The latte was pretty and tasty. The cheesecake looked so tempting. Busy place and for good reason. The staff were polite and quick. Wish they had some merchandise for sale.

I had my best cup of coffee in Ronda at Black Coffee, a small cafe off the Plaza Espana with great views of the surrounding edifices and Puerte Nuevo. Sitting at a small table on the outside patio, I sipped and savored my Cafe Americano, served in an attractive clay mug, as passersby passed by. The Coffee was boldly flavored with hints of nuts and chocolate. I went back the same evening to close out my comer fuera for the day with a Black Coffee house-made Superberry gelato, served by an amiable barista. I definitely plan on returning to Black Coffee throughout my stay in La Ciudad Sonada!

Errehhh ladies and gents! This little ice cream place is more than just a dessert spot! They have coffee that will have you craving more! I did not try anything but they coffee there but it was amazing enough for me to review them! The staff is fun to talk and laugh with and while you drink some coffee you have an amazing view from of the bridge!

This café is located close to our accommodation, so we stopped by for breakfast. The place seems quite new, clean, and nicely designed. The staff did not speak English and the menu was only in Spanish, but we managed to communicate without any problems. The food was excellent, the coffee very good, and the service friendly. I definitely recommend this place.
Manolya Lim★★★☆☆
I recently visited this café in Ronda and ordered the toast with tomatoes and oil, expecting the traditional preparation of fresh tomatoes on top. Instead, I received a piece of bread, a small container with a liquid red sauce, and a bottle of oil. Unfortunately, the sauce didn't taste like tomatoes at all. When I spread it on the bread, it soaked in quickly, resulting in an unappealing presentation. The flavor was disappointing, as it lacked the fresh, vibrant taste I had anticipated and instead resembled a mushy mess. Although the staff were friendly, and the overall atmosphere was passable, I left somewhat dissatisfied with my meal and couldn’t finish it. I hope this café can improve its offerings, especially for a dish that has such a beloved reputation in Spanish cuisine.

If I could give zero stars, I would. After 45 minutes waiting and seeing others receive their orders and not even having a drink, we had to walk out. Honestly felt discriminated against. Don’t understand why not an even an apology or a signal was given to ask us for a few more minutes. A show that they knew we were waiting. Incredibly let down! Wouldn’t go there during brunch times as clearly hotel clients are prioritised. Response to your comment: Thank you so much for getting back to my review. But I am sad to see that you decided to lie instead of taking accountability for either lack of staffing or inability to serve the number of tables you had. I, of course, completely understand and appreciate busy periods. However, absolutely no one came to talk to us, to apologise or to ask for more time. We didn’t just wait for food for 45 minutes, we waited for drinks as well. You might be mistaking me for someone else, given that I wasn’t the only disappointed, annoyed and frustrated customer waiting. If you review your camera footage, you will see that my partner and I got up from an empty table came up to the cafe area and apologise and politely asked for our food to be cancelled before we left. Yes! We are the ones who apologise for cancelling! The two sever girls looked at us and said si and nodded their heads. Your response has only fortified our opinion that you did not deserve our time and hard earned cash! Thanks!

This place is very unique. Good place to just sit or work. Has good drinks, cold and hot. Very good pastries too. Went back a couple of time just to do a bit of work and have some quiet time.

Such a lovely stop in Ronda. The waitress was incredibly kind and accommodating; genuinely warm and a pleasure to interact with, which really makes a difference. The cheesecake and carrot cake were delicious and the hot drinks were just as good; care goes into what they serve. The decor also gives it a real vibe. Cosy, stylish and somewhere you want to sit and linger for a while.

Perfect cute place for a drink. The staff was so lovely and attentive. We loved it so much we came back the following night. Perfect to end the night with a drink on the terrace and enjoy a night out. Highly recommended.

Awesome place! Highly recommended! Impeccable service, all place should have such staff as this bar has! Polite, service minded and really pro in all details! Cinco estrellas!
Lukas Vodehnal★☆☆☆☆
All the food and drinks were artificial… We received a sweeten coffee, the pancakes were pre-prepared, the cream was not whipped but out if the can/spray…they did not have any fresh fruits for crepes and smoothies. The ham was of a very low quality. The place is beautiful and clean but the food needs to be improved a lot. We were disappointed.

A very nice, typically Spanish cafe with super friendly service and delicious, somewhat strong coffee. We didn't eat, but we did notice that if you order drinks, you can take your own chips or nuts from the cupboard and pour them into a bowl on the table. It's a pleasant and welcoming atmosphere.

We have came here for Churros as we have read that it is one of the best places for Churros in Ronda. Chocolate was great not so thick, churro as well very fluffy. We have ordered two portion of churro for each of us(2). It was delicious.
Alicia Glassmeyer★★★★☆
Good churros and chocolate. Service was friendly, but I waa brought the wrong item. It was fine, so I didn't complain. The place wasn't even busy when we were there, so why the mix up? It ordered mollete and was brought very dry toast. I also thought the spread that I chose would come prepared on the bread for me, but I was given little plastic packets that were difficult to open. Nothing was bad, but there are better options in town.
Ali★☆☆☆☆
The churros were very soft and oily. I've never had churros like this and were not pleasant to eat. Normally they are crunchy and cispy. Very disappointing.
Andreea Daniela Dinulescu★★★★★
Internet sais that this is the best place to have churros, so I gave it a try. I wasn’t disappointed! The churros are very good and when you dip them in chocolate is the dream😂 Also, I have never had churros this big. The service was fast, and the waitress very dinamic.
Michal★★★★★
Modest but clean place. We got hot churros with chocolate for a good price.

This was the highlight of our Ronda trip ❤️. You will not regret walking out of your way to eat at this amazing restaurant. The garden has a feeling like you are in Tuscany, sitting on the terraces with a view of the hills. The food itself is very sophisticated and beautifully presented on the plate by kind waitresses. We shared mostly hot and cold starters and all of them were are 10. We had a lovely rosé wine from Ronda roo. They have a beautiful wine list including wines from Ronda wineries. However. Be prepared for a long sit because the kitchen is not fast. So if you have the time this place is perfect.
Jörgen Pakkas★★★★★
This is a really lovely restaurant with the host going out of her way to make us feel comfortable with our 5 year old daughter. There is a really lovely outdoor seating area with a beautiful view, though it might not be suitable for dining if it is too windy outside. All in all the food was absolutely delicious and i consider it a highlight of our visit to Ronda. Definitely worth the visit!
TnT NL★★★★★
A little hidden but well worth a visit. The restaurant is quite small (inside only space for 10) but the view is amazing and staff was super friendly and helpful. The food was great and the desserts were very special.
Chloe van Raalte★★★★★
One of the nicest meals we’ve ever had, food was amazing, service was impeccable and so friendly and welcoming. The location is perfect with stunning views of the mountains. As real foodies, we aren’t quick to leave reviews, but this place was next level! 10/10 - you have to come!
Katrin Mayer★★★★★
Wow! This place absolutely blew my mind, it was so perfect in every way! It is a little tucked away at the edge of town, which I'm sure is the reason that less tourists find their way there. But the little detour is absolutely worth it because this restaurant is located in the most beautiful spot, with a gorgeous view out into the mountains. The atmosphere was so perfect and the waitress was really nice. But the absolute highlight was the food itself: We tried hour different kinds of tapas, plus their house wine and olives they served with it. Every single thing was so incredibly delicious! I loved trying the more interesting combinations like toasted bread with pepper jam, feta and tuna, or the green asparagus with truffles and parmesan - I had no idea there could be flavours this intensive and delicious, and so well combined! Very sad that we won't be able to make it back to Ronda on this trip, but I can't wait to come back one day in the future.

Martina Specialty Coffee was one of our favorite coffee stops in Seville. From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed with genuine warmth and hospitality. The team was incredibly friendly, attentive, and professional, making us feel right at home. The coffee was excellent; rich, smooth, and expertly prepared, showcasing the quality of the beans and the care that goes into every cup. The food was equally impressive. The toast with jamón, tomato, and fresh greens was delicious, made with high-quality ingredients and full of fresh flavor, while the cheesecake was the perfect sweet ending. The atmosphere is relaxed and inviting, making it an ideal place to start your morning or take a break while exploring the city. If you're looking for outstanding specialty coffee, delicious food, and exceptional service, Martina Specialty Coffee is an absolute must-visit in Seville. We'll definitely be back on our next trip.

Lovely spot. Great matcha flavours and they had oat milk as well as coconut milk. Not very many food options so I wouldn't necessarily do lunch here but we had the pesto mozzarella bread and it was nice. The brownie was insanely good though.
Elena H★★★★★
Delicious coffee, super nice interior and friendly stuff! We came for brunch, which was nice as well, but the highlight was the coffee. Can only recommend !
Kamis M★★★★★
Honestly the best coffee I had in Spain. Perfectly brewed, not too milky and not too sour. It was not a problem to order coffee with plant based milk either. The venue was quiet and clean and the service kind.
S. K.★★★★★
Incredible oat cappuccino, one of the best I've had. The barista was very kind, and the outdoor seating is a real plus: tucked away from the main crowds, so you can actually relax. Don't skip the pastries either, the cheesecake and brownie were both delicious. Highly recommended, and I'll definitely be back next time I'm in Ronda.

Very tasty food. Amazing quality and hamd made. Organic and vegetarian...good selection of tea coffe and fresh juices.
A bite of soul★★★☆☆
We came to this place for breakfast after reading the great reviews, but unfortunately, we were left a bit disappointed after our order. The sandwiches were dry and nothing special – it felt like they lacked that extra bit of care or creativity to make them feel like a proper breakfast. On the positive side, the service was very kind and welcoming, and the place was quite full, which shows its popularity. It wasn’t a bad experience, but given the authenticity of the place, we expected a bit more soul in the food.
Barry Garnham★★★★★
Excellent little restaurant. The interior is classy, and the service is friendly and very helpful. Both food and drink were excellent. The food is very well presented, and the cutlery and crockery are very high quality. I would happily have breakfast here every day. Fresh and delicious 😋 I highly recommend for a quick visit or a longer stay where the option to sample even more of their product would be a great opportunity.

Useful place if you are gluten free - they have basic GF bread. Lovely two ladies serving and still friendly even after what looked like a very busy breakfast service! The cafe is quaint, a bit tired but has lots of character.
Denis Richter★★★☆☆
Old school cafe. It has its old world atmosphere. The lady behind the counter was a real lady. Nice and charming. The coffee was from a press machine, but it was strong, more sour than my grandmother's watered down coffee. If that's what you're after, you've come to the right place. The desserts were good.

Essential Tips for Enjoying Cafes in Ronda

Navigating the café scene in a historic city like Ronda requires a bit of local knowledge to maximize your enjoyment. The culture here differs slightly from the fast-paced coffee chains found in larger European capitals; it is more about lingering, socializing, and appreciating the moment. Here are some practical tips to help you blend in and find the best experiences.

Understand the local coffee terminology. While specialty coffee is growing, traditional Spanish coffee is the norm in most establishments. A "café con leche" is a large milk coffee, similar to a latte, while a "cortado" is an espresso cut with a small amount of milk. If you want a long black coffee, ask for an "Americano."

Timing matters for breakfast. Spaniards typically eat breakfast later than Northern Europeans. Many cafés in Ronda may not be bustling until 9:00 AM or 10:00 AM. If you are an early riser, check opening hours in advance, as some specialty spots open earlier, but traditional bars might only be serving tostadas and coffee after 8:30 AM.

Look for the "Tostada" experience. For an authentic local breakfast, order a "tostada con tomate" (toasted bread with crushed tomato and olive oil) or one topped with local Iberian ham. This is the staple morning fuel for locals and is usually far more satisfying than a sweet pastry when you have a day of sightseeing ahead.

Be mindful of peak siesta hours. While tourist-centric cafés often stay open all day, many local favorites close between 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM for the siesta. If you plan on a late lunch or an early evening coffee, verify the opening hours or stick to the main pedestrian streets where service is more continuous.

Check if you are paying for the view. Many cafes near the Puente Nuevo or along the gorge charge a premium for their terrace seating. If you are on a budget, it is often cheaper to stand at the bar inside for your coffee or to walk a few streets back from the main viewpoint to find a local plaza with more reasonable prices and equally beautiful, albeit less famous, scenery.

As you plan your itinerary, remember that a visit to a café in Ronda is an opportunity to slow down. The city is best enjoyed without rushing; sit back, watch the world go by, and appreciate the blend of Moorish and Spanish influences that make this city so unique. Whether you are fueling up for a hike down to the bottom of the gorge or simply hiding from the midday sun, the right café will enhance your connection to this remarkable place.

We hope this guide helps you discover your own favorite corner of Ronda. From the first sip of your morning coffee to the last bite of a local pastry, these establishments offer a taste of the city’s soul that goes far beyond the typical tourist trail.
