Sitting on the rugged shore of Catalonia’s Costa Brava, Cadaqués is a town that feels suspended in time. Its whitewashed walls, winding cobblestone alleys, and shimmering Mediterranean light have long drawn artists, writers, and travelers looking for something beyond the ordinary.
Because of its remote location and bohemian soul, the cafe culture here is not about rushing. It is about lingering over a strong espresso, watching fishing boats bob in the bay, and feeling the salt breeze mix with the scent of freshly baked pastries.
Finding the perfect spot to rest your feet is an essential part of the Cadaqués experience. Whether you are seeking a quiet corner to sketch, a sunny terrace for people-watching, or a strong caffeine fix before hiking to Cap de Creus, this town delivers.
The local establishments range from historic haunts that once served Salvador Dalí to modern minimalist spaces that focus on specialty beans. Each offers a distinct atmosphere, but all share the same relaxed, unpretentious rhythm that defines life on this rocky coast.
In this guide, we have walked the narrow streets and sat at the marble tables to bring you the definitive list of the best cafes in Cadaqués. We have focused on quality of coffee, authenticity of the setting, and the overall value of the experience.
Remember that in Cadaqués, time moves a little slower. Do not expect fast service or to-go cups on every corner; instead, embrace the local custom of sitting down, ordering a café amb llet or a carajillo, and watching the world drift by.
Here is our curated selection of the ten best places to enjoy a drink and a bite in this magical seaside village.

We received a warm welcome from the staff, offering us to taste the wine and change it if it wasn’t to our taste. The restaurant is tapas, salads and poke bowls. All our prepared fresh. We chose Gorgonzola, pear and walnut croquettes ( amazing) and ham croquettes. We shared a salmon poke bowl, with rice and lots of crisp veg, mango and pomegranate. Very good. We sat on the terrace, prettily decorated, with bench seating and cushions. Good location on the front at Cadaques.

Excellent food and very warm service, they are on top of everything. We ordered some croquetas to start (all of them delicious - couldnt decide which one was best - jamon, gorgonzola or chicken). And we went for the poke bowls, delicious!

Despite the reviews the food wasn’t incredible, very good, but not unforgettable. However, the staffs friendliness, the experience, the view and atmosphere. Sure made it worth the visit!

Some of the BEST Poke i have ever had anywhere. The fish is so fresh and the vegetables as well. The flavours were immacualte and we were greeted with great service.
If you are foreign to the city it should be noted that water is additional to purchase so if you are offered water you will be charged for it.
Nonetheless it was a really amazing expierence!

An absolutely honey of an establishment- both rooms and also the restaurant. Exceptional service (Yasmin was incredible and even helped to get us sold out Dali house tix)! The restaurant is the place to be, quite simply brilliant- the service, the vibe and importantly the food too. A perfect place to centre your Cadaques trip around.

Overall, not the best experience. We arrived early, got a table easily. It was actually quite quiet and felt a bit sad there.
Quite a varied menu. Unfortunately the meat that we ordered wasn’t as tasty as it could have been - it lacked seasoning or any real flavour to be honest and was a bit on the fatty side. One of them was a bit overcooked / charcoal tasting.
Overall pretty expensive for the standard.
To top it off, the guy who brought us our bill told us “tips are not included” then added extra to our bill when we split it (I didn’t notice, my friend did later!) - presumably deciding on the amount of tip we should be paying? Not cool.

The bar is right across from the local school. The lady behind the counter was helpful and the food is okay. Nothing to brag about. There were flies flying around us though so we ate and quickly left the place.

We were so happy to find this gorgeous little restaurant ! The hummus starter and focaccia were so so delicious, I actually can’t stop thinking about it. We’ll definitely be coming straight back next time we’re in Cadaquès 😍
Fabio Diglio★★★★★
Informal restaurant, in a narrow street of Cadaques, a few minutes from the Casino.
The place is small (there are a few tables inside and a few more outside; my advice is to make a reservation), the food simple but good and the service fast. Cheap prices.
"Foccacce' are highly recommended.
If you are not too posh, give it a try. 😉
Lorena E★★★★★
Really good food, great service and lovely cosy place. We were looking for a restaurant and walking inside the street we found this cute place. You feel a very bohemian style, also with nice soft music and great food.

I highly recommend this café! Very nice coffee and delicious pastry 🙂 The price is very, very fair and you can also get oat milk here.
We were on a hiking trip and we could also order a baguette with cheese & tomato to go which was great!

The coffee at our hotel was from a machine and terrible so we searched for local cafes. Som8 is a small family owned cafe and we got two cortados for around 3.50 euros. We both agreed it was the best coffee we've had after traveling around Costa Brava for a few days! In addition, the staff are so kind. We left our giant water bottle and figured it probably got tossed since there wasn't much water left, but when we went back, the owner had set it aside for us. We enjoyed this spot so much, we came back again the next morning!
Teresa Han★★★★★
Food, coffee, and service were all great! I got the hot beef sandwich, and it was full of unique flavors. There were lots of outdoor seating for some people watching. It's a great breakfast/lunch spot while walking around town.

Truly a wonderful dining experience worth seeking out. We were at the Dali Museum nearby and came upon this place for lunch. The chef/owner is passionate about the food he prepares, took the time to explain the menu to us and curated a wonderful meal. He brought out some wines to choose from, showed us the fresh tuna he had, then went off to work his magic.
This meal was the highlight of our trip to Spain!
René Schellrich★★★★★
We visited El Rebost de Cadaqués on my birthday after spending the day at the Dalí Museum in Figueres, and it turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip.
The owner is an incredibly warm and genuine person. You can immediately tell that he truly loves what he does and puts his heart into every detail. He even gave us a short tour of the kitchen, which made the experience feel very personal and special.
The food was outstanding, focusing on fresh, seasonal, and local ingredients. On the owner’s recommendation, I also bought a fantastic bottle of olive oil from a local producer, which was a wonderful souvenir to take home. To finish the evening, we were treated to a glass of traditional Catalan Ratafia - the perfect ending to an unforgettable meal.
The atmosphere is beautiful, the staff are exceptionally friendly, and the restaurant is located away from the typical tourist spots along the harbor, making it feel even more authentic.
A true 10/10 experience. If you’re looking for genuine Catalan hospitality and outstanding local cuisine, this place is an absolute must-visit. We will definitely be back!
Julian Harker★★★★★
Amazing, inventive local food. Every dish is well thought out, and often surprising. It was a real delight and the service was impeccable and so friendly. Our party was two families with 4 kids and not only were the staff incredibly patient but the kids loved the adventurous food! I can’t recommend highly enough.
Tori Deems★★★★★
We were recommended to dine at El Rebost by a local boat guide who's family has lived in Cadaques for over 300 years. Every dish was excellent and the meal was one of the most memorable of our trip. The lobster was the best bite many of us have ever had. We loved the paella, the anchovies, the pan con tomate was unbelievable, the tomatoes were from the chef's mothers garden, and the fish was just incredible. This place is a must-visit in Cadaques.
Catriona Hearth★★★★★
Fabulous find… personal service and recommendations for both food & wine from the owner/chef. Excellent meal with very friendly attentive service, don’t walk on by!

Great little bar with really nice seating options - outside deck looking over the water, or deck looking over the main square. Service was good. Bathrooms are accessible if you have mobility issues. Lovely little place - we'll be back.
Olga & Lev★★★★☆
Was beautiful view... very nice staff and relatively quick service. Calamary I ordered were delicious. My husband ordered chicken sausages that were good too.
Although, there was just enough time for a quick lunch, we really liked town of Cadaques while on the way to Gala Dali's castle.
Jannik Schlüter★★★★☆
Service: The service seems to not really care about the costumers. We waited for a long time to even get the menu.
Waiting time: we waited about 45 minutes for 5 Tapas.
Food: the food was amazing. Especially the Paella totally blew me away.
Seating: there are two large outdoor areas. One facing to the city and one facing to the ocean. We were able to get a table with an amazing view. But it can be very crowded.
All in all: Amazing food, nice ambience, bad service. But still worth a visit.
Maria★★★★☆
Lovely bar to have a drink by the sea! The tapas are ok, but I wouldn't say this is a bar to come to for the food. It is great, however, for a quick simple bite and a relaxing break
Selma Karadza★★★★★
My forever favorite terrace in Cadaques, with the kindest and the most polite staff, and very tasty snacks - love their tabbouleh salad and choco muffins. Had so many beautiful and sunny mornings there 💙☀️
Tips for Enjoying the Cafe Scene in Cadaqués
To make the most of your culinary and caffeinated journey through this unique village, it helps to understand the local customs and logistics. While Cadaqués is incredibly welcoming, a little insider knowledge will help you avoid the crowds and drink like a local rather than a tourist.
Timing is Everything
The Spanish schedule dictates that breakfast is usually light and late, while the afternoon merienda is sacred. If you want a quiet table, avoid the midday rush between 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM when visitors seek shade and a cold drink. Early mornings are magical here, as the streets are empty and the light is soft.
Embrace the Local Order
While you can find oat milk flat whites in some modern spots, the true Cadaqués experience involves ordering like a local. Try a tallat (an espresso with a splash of steamed milk) or a café con hielo (espresso poured over ice) on a hot summer day. Pair it with a xuixo, a deep-fried, sugar-coated pastry filled with crema catalana that originates from nearby Girona.
Cash is Still King
While the world is moving digital, many of the smaller, family-run cafes in the old town still operate on a cash-first basis. While most accept cards for larger bills, having a handful of coins for a quick coffee or a bottle of water will make your transaction smoother and faster, especially during the bustling summer months.
Parking and Walking
Cadaqués is notoriously difficult to navigate by car. The center is largely pedestrianized, and parking lots are located on the outskirts of town. Wear comfortable shoes with good grip; the cobblestones are beautiful but can be slippery and uneven, especially on the steep streets leading up from the waterfront.
Look Beyond the Seafront
The cafes directly on the bay promenade offer unbeatable views, but they often come with premium prices and slower service. For a more authentic and often better-quality experience, wander two or three streets back from the water. This is where you will find the hidden patios and local haunts where residents gather.
Cadaqués is more than just a stop on a map; it is a sensory experience that stays with you long after you leave. The cafes here are the living rooms of the village, offering a front-row seat to the slow, artistic pulse that makes this corner of Spain so special.
Whether you spend your day hiking the windswept trails or simply moving from one shaded terrace to the next, taking the time to sit and sip is the key to unlocking the true spirit of the Costa Brava. Enjoy the journey, and savor every last drop.
