Whether you are fueling up before a day of sightseeing or recovering from a late night out, the right breakfast can set the tone for your entire visit.

However, finding a quality meal in a high-tourism zone requires a bit of local knowledge. Knowing where to look will save you from overpriced, mediocre food.

From rustic bakeries serving flaky croissants to elegant dining rooms offering full brunch spreads, the options are surprisingly diverse. You can find everything from a simple "café con leche" paired with tomato bread to elaborate avocado toasts and eggs Benedict.

This guide focuses on quality, atmosphere, and proximity to Gaudí’s famous dragon-topped roof. It highlights the spots that are worth your time and money, avoiding the tourist traps that often populate such central locations.

We have scoured the streets and side alleys to bring you a curated list of the best options within walking distance of the building. Each recommendation offers something unique, whether it is a historic interior, a secret garden terrace, or simply the best roasted coffee in the district.

We really enjoyed our brunch at Berry Brunch Barcelona. The food was excellent — the pancakes were light and fluffy, the eggs were cooked just right, and everything felt fresh and flavorful. The atmosphere is cool and modern with a relaxed, inviting vibe that makes it a nice spot to unwind. It was very busy when we went, which is usually a positive sign. Service was mostly decent, but unfortunately the drinks were a real letdown. We ordered them as soon as we sat down, but they didn’t arrive until well after our food was served. After waiting about 30 minutes, I had to ask the server twice before they finally came. She was nice about it, but it was clearly forgotten the first time. I was a bit disappointed because the prices are on the higher side for Barcelona, and I really didn’t want to dig into my pancakes and eggs without a drink. By the time the drinks showed up, the food had already cooled down more than I would have liked. Even with that hiccup, the quality of the food was strong enough that we’d gladly go back. Just hope they tighten up the drink timing on busier days. Recommended!

A fantastic experience! The presentation of the food was gorgeous and the taste matched it- often it’s one or the other! Wearable hats make it a fun photo opportunity before the food arrives. Our server Victoria was excellent 👌

We had a wonderful brunch experience! The food was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The menu had great options, and everything we ordered was delicious. What really made our visit special was the service, Agustina and Alexandra were friendly, attentive, and made us feel genuinely welcome from the moment we arrived. We will definitely be coming back and highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great brunch with outstanding service!

Beautiful food and fantastic presentation! The menu has a great variety with lots of choice to pick from. A special shoutout to our waitress, Cristina, who was absolutely wonderful and made us feel so welcome. The only minor thing was that the burger was a little bit too salty for my taste, but overall, everything else was fantastic. Highly recommended!

An excellent find! Our family of four (two teenage boys) absolutely loved this! The flavors of our dishes were amazing and service fantastic! And the atmosphere is so cute with jamming music. Highly recommend!

Wow, just amazing! During my parents' and my stay in Barcelona, we went to Billy Brunch four mornings. The first time there, we fell in love with not only the most delicious food and coffee, but the service and the whole staff, from the front area, to our waiters, to the cooks and head chef, to one of the managers, Abdul, who made the visit that much better. Everyone was so welcoming, friendly, and warm, and provided amazing service the moment you stepped in the door. A super welcoming greeting when you walk in and a heartfelt thank you upon leaving. The food was DELICIOUS! We tried the omelette, the scrambled egg on toast, the Shakshouka, and my personal favorite, the Eggs Benedict. The Benedict's Hollandaise sauce was heavenly, with a delicious, creamy taste that wasn't overly salty, unlike other restaurants where I've had it. The lattes were creamy and smooth with just enough caffeine punch in the morning to give you that boost to wake up. Staying right around the corner from Billy Brunch, at the apartment we were renting out, was so convenient for us. If you happen to stay off Las Ramblas near Billy Brunch, run, don't walk, here to be treated to an amazing experience. Please let Abdul and the whole staff know what a pleasure it was to be treated like family, for our short time here in beautiful Barcelona! Gracias por las deliciosas comidas! Ciao!

Thought I could trust the Google reviews but unfortunately it was a letdown. Food portions were huge, we ordered the Club Sandwich and also the Eggs Benedict and tbh it's very, pretty average. I didn't finish the Club Sandwich as it's too much mayo on the chicken. Staff was very friendly and approachable. Probably would come if I'm looking for a decently more affordable place for breakfast. However, definitely not a place that blew me away.
Amelia Wakim★★★★★
This was a wonderful first breakfast in Barcelona! I had the Eggs Benedict as I saw it recommended and it was super good. The food came out super fast too. My boyfriend and mine dishes were incredible thanks to Chef Jamil. Quirli, our server was really nice. At the end, the check was presented in a mini egg carton which was so cute!
JorgeD★★★★★
I get the hype; it is a good brunch spot. The Eggs Benedict were definitely worth the wait. The pancakes, not so much, the ones I had were a bit dry and tough, nothing to write home about. The staff were very friendly. They make you feel right at home, and you can tell they enjoy having you there.
Hanna★★★★★
Billy Brunch has become one of my favorite breakfast spots in Barcelona, and as a regular customer, I can honestly say the quality and service have remained consistently excellent over time. The food is always fresh, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. My personal favorites are the Eggs Benedict and the pancakes, which are always perfectly prepared. The coffee is great, and the menu offers plenty of options whether you’re looking for a healthy breakfast or something more indulgent. What keeps me coming back is not only the food but also the welcoming atmosphere. The staff are friendly, attentive, and make every visit enjoyable. Even during busy hours, the service is efficient and professional. It’s rare to find a place that maintains such high standards visit after visit. Billy Brunch is a must-visit for anyone looking for a quality breakfast or brunch experience in Barcelona. Highly recommended!

Fresh, light, clean — and they have sweet and savory absolutely on lock. The staff was super friendly and everything from the food to the drinks was fantastic. Bonus points for fresh-squeezed orange juice made to order. The food looks exactly like the photos online — definitely a “phone eats first” kind of place — and the best part is it tastes just as good as it looks. And a fun surprise… they even have a disco bathroom. ✨

Had brunch here today and the food was on another level! We got the ottoman brunch and the salmon bowl. They did not disappoint. The ottoman brunch in particular was just delicious! We also had a chai latte and the ‘hulk’, both were great. The service was impeccable and the place had great laid back vibes. I would totally come back

My family and I enjoyed our visit at EatMyTrip! We were greeted with smiles and seated quickly. We ordered 2 Superfoods, a Guacascramble, and Jamon Iberico Benedict. Portions were large and food was delicious. Service was prompt and the girls that served us were attentive! They were willing to answer all of our questions and were patient when we were ordering. Would 100% recommend and look forward to returning!
Omri Ashkenazi★★★★★
We arrived around 11:00 AM as a couple with our baby, without a reservation, and only had to wait about 10–15 minutes. We sat outside, the food arrived quickly, and it was absolutely amazing!!! The waitress was kind, welcoming, and always smiling. Highly recommended! I especially recommend the Iberico Benedict — definitely add the avocado and jalapeños, it makes the dish even better! The only slightly disappointing thing was the matcha, which was not as good as the food.
Pali Girl★★★★★
It was our first time here, and it was an amazing experience! I have a gluten allergy, so I was relieved to find that the restaurant’s menu clearly indicates which dishes are gluten-free and which are not. They even have gluten-free bread, which is a huge plus. However, I decided to try their protein bowl, and it was absolutely delicious! My husband ordered the Canadian pancakes, and he raved about them, saying they were the best pancakes he’s had since visiting Barcelona. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, and the restaurant itself is charming and cozy.

Best brunch place I have been to in a while. I can definitely understand why people stand in queue to catch a table here:). We enjoyed some really high quality coffees and dirty chai lattes. Our food was ready super quick and the staff was so nice and helpful. The ingredients were really fresh and the plates were beautifully presented. My mom is gluten-free and she was really happy that they had something for her. The black corn waffle instead of the regular one was a one of a kind taste, it really complementet the rest of the Bennis Avocado. The c&s burrito I ordered was amazing with its melted cheese and tomato sauce, I couldn't recommend it enough! It was a wonderful meal to end our trip in Barcelona. We will definitely be back!🙌

Came with the family for brunch. The place fills up quickly and there may be some waiting time but worth it. Their cappuccino are amazing. We ordered the French toast. Croquet Madame and cinnamon roll. This was an amazing brunch with great service.

My family and I were in Spain and Portugal for a whole month and I can say with full sincerity that this was the number one restaurant we went to. A lot of the other restaurants and cafes give little food for such high prices which leaves you hungry and in search for another restaurant. This place was the first restaurant we went to that left us saying “we’re so full.” The food was magnificent (I recommend the Eggs Benedict but I’m biased for some good eggs 😋) and our waiter, Henjie, was absolutely marvelous. Everyone here is so incredibly nice and the atmosphere is amazing. I love you Henjie!!! You made our brunch an amazing experience 🫶🫶🫶

What a lovely lunch. We sat overlooking the park on a beautiful Barcelona afternoon and everything about the experience felt relaxed and easy. The mushroom toast was outstanding. The mushrooms were rich and savory, and the sun-dried tomatoes were used with a surprisingly light touch.. just enough to add brightness and depth without taking over the dish. One of those simple plates that is much better than it has any right to be. A special thank you to Noel, who took such wonderful care of us throughout the meal. Warm, attentive, and genuinely kind.. the kind of service that makes you want to linger a little longer. We’ll absolutely be back.
Katie Jordan★★★★★
A wide variety of classic brunch options including both American and typical Spanish meals. Very friendly and helpful staff who speak English. They will help you store luggage if needed. The American-style pancakes are large, fluffy and thick - I would estimate at least 2-3cm tall. The full American brunch is an enormous portion perfect to share. The scrambled eggs are cooked so that they are not at all runny on the outside, but when you cut into them they are warm and gooey. The bacon is cut in thick slices (more English style than American style). The sausages are slightly sweet. The Acai bowl is based around a sorbet of Acai, with plenty of fresh fruit and coconut shavings on top. The Acaï melts quite quickly around the edges so I would recommend eating from the outside of the bowl inwards. The tea/coffee/matcha is unsweetened. There is brown sugar available on the table. Free tap water.

We came for breakfast two days in a row because we were delighted with the food, the atmosphere and the staff. The food tastes great and looks beautiful. Coffee and hot chocolate completed the impression. Thanks to Fernando who wowed us with a little piece of art on the drinks. We were especially impressed by John, who made an effort to ensure that we were served with smile and kind words.

We had a wonderful time at Billy Brunch on our very first morning in Barcelona. They offered a lovely variety of food and drinks items when we visited for brunch. We enjoyed trying several options, including the dulce de leche coconut pancakes, the superfood omelette, and the maxi American breakfast, all of which were delicious. Their matcha lattes and teas complemented the breakfast dishes perfectly, making our experience even more enjoyable.

Had a great brunch experience at Billy Brunch in Barcelona. The food was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. We tried the eggs benedict, pancakes with fresh fruits and cream, cappuccino, and toast — everything tasted excellent. The eggs were perfectly cooked with rich hollandaise sauce, and the pancakes were soft, fluffy, and balanced perfectly with the fruits and syrup. The coffee was also very good with creative latte art that added a nice touch to the experience. The atmosphere was cozy and relaxed, and the outdoor seating made it a perfect brunch spot in the city. Friendly service and generous portions made the visit even better.

Super cute little breakfast spot. My friend and I split the eggs Benedict and the chicken club sandwich. Both were super good! The chicken sandwich was like a chicken salad and probably the best one I've ever had.

We had a wonderful experience at Faborit Casa Amatller🫶🏻The hot chocolate was rich and creamy, and the pastries were absolutely amazing. The café has a lovely atmosphere, making it the perfect place to relax after exploring the city. The historic setting makes the experience even more special. 💕

Wow! Great place with great history and story. You also have a guided tour of the hose which we didn't take. We came late and no crowd were there. Coffee was average, but chocolate was awesome, really the real thing hot chocolate. Ambient is vintage from the begining of 20th century with some modern style parts. Really nice experience and sweet stop.

Faborit | Casa Amatller – a perfect pause in the heart of Barcelona Faborit inside Casa Amatller is one of those places that instantly elevates your day. The location alone is breathtaking - sitting inside a masterpiece of modernist architecture on Passeig de Gràcia already sets the tone before you even order. The food is fresh, well-balanced, and thoughtfully prepared. Whether you’re stopping by for breakfast, brunch, or a light lunch, everything feels clean, modern, and high quality. Excellent coffee, beautifully presented dishes, and ingredients that clearly speak for themselves nothing overdone, just done right. What really stands out is the atmosphere: calm, stylish, and full of character. You feel the history of the building, but with a contemporary, relaxed vibe that makes you want to slow down and enjoy the moment. Service is friendly, attentive, and effortless - exactly what you hope for in a place like this. Perfect for a break from sightseeing, a casual business meeting, or simply enjoying Barcelona at its best. Faborit at Casa Amatller is not just a café - it’s an experience. Highly recommended.

The hot chocolate was amazing and not expensive given that they are inside Casa Amatller. The seating area outdoors is really nice and you can see the back side of Casa Batllo. It’s a nice place for a quick break during the day.

⸻ If you are planning to tour Casa Amatller anyway, this is a perfect spot to have lunch. The ticket includes your meal, their famous chocolate dessert, and the full house tour, so it ends up being a great value. The food was fresh, the chocolate is truly worth trying, and the whole experience feels very “Barcelona.” If you get the option to sit outdoors in the little courtyard, definitely do it. It is peaceful, pretty, and adds so much to the atmosphere.

We had an incredible experience when we visited for breakfast. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, and they provided excellent service. I ordered the shakshuka, which paired perfectly with their orange matcha cooler. The Spanish latte they serve here was fantastic. They're dog friendly and also offer outdoor seating. I highly recommend that anyone visiting the city stop by here!

The perfect brunch spot. After a few days here, it is the first meal we throughouly enjoyed. The turkish eggs and the burrata breakfast were both amazing. Smoothie was also great. All that at a fair price point. Highly recommend:) there's also two very cute dogs just casually chilling around sleeping and saying hi to customers!

Excellent small cafe very worthy of seeking out. We stopped in for lunch; there was a wait but well worth it. We ordered the Shakshuka Halloumi, it was healthy, satisfying, very comforting. The sauce was right amount of seasoning, very flavorful and served hot. The Trufada iberica was served on hearty bread, eggs cooked just right. A generous amount of ham on top, greens and the truffle paste all combined for a flavorful & satisfying meal. The Carioca smoothie was perfect protein smoothie on a hot day. The Vitamina juice was delicious and felt very fortifying. The staff at the juice bar never stopped working. Our server was super welcoming & spoke English for us. He was prompt and attentive to us and they were very busy.

We especially appreciated that the restaurant is dog-friendly, which made our visit even more enjoyable. The atmosphere was welcoming, the service was excellent, and the staff were kind and attentive. We had a wonderful experience and would definitely visit again!
Jasmine Li★★★★★
Every single dish was a hit. It’s a pet friendly place, where the owner also kept his dogs in the store and of cos they named their store after their lovely dogs. We loved all the food that we ordered, especially the Protein Turkish eggs that was paired with their sourdough.. maybe I need more bread for the dip! The dips were soooo good, flavored with nuts and a tiny bit of spice (red pepper oil) that enhances all the flavours. And I got to learn it’s their local romesco sauce - a vibrant, smoky, nutty Spanish condiments originated from Catalonia region. I wiped out every drop of the sauce. Service was excellent, we were a big group but they try to put us together whenever possible so we could share all the amazing food orders and get to taste every single one on the menu. Thank you for having us. I love everything on the menu and to learn new flavour where culture’s involved, delighted my soul.

Lovely brunch spot in Barcelona! I had Eggs Benedict, Shakshouka, and pancakes. everything was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. The place has a calm, cozy vibe that makes it perfect for a relaxed breakfast or brunch. Friendly service and a very pleasant atmosphere. Definitely worth a visit!

Amazing cafe in Barcelona. Boutique vibe and unbelievable chef creations for a brunch that will surpass others. Delicious smoothies and rich espresso. Staff was very attentive and kind. My only criticism was felt pressure to tip higher percentages when paying. The server specifically pointed out the higher % amounts and watched. It was odd. Will come back though as food was worth it
kudzai gara★★★★★
We had the absolute best kind of brunch. The food was absolutely delicious! This is one of those popular brunch spots in Barcelona so we had to wait for about 5-8mins as they were full. However once we got in, it took a bit of time for the servers to get our orders since it was busy. The food came out super quick. I had the classic bennie with the black corn waffle and I added pulled pork. Hubby had the B&C burrito with pulled pork, absolutely delicious. Portions are big, we could have literally shared one meal. For drinks we had the matcha latte and dirty chai latte. I really think I’ll be going back tomorrow for the carrot cupcake!
An Above Average Joe (AboveAverageJoe)★★★★★
went this time with my darling Genevieve! I travelled here last year to a different location - but the service is excellent and equal. The food is so so so delicious, and I appreciate the lengths the went to give my dog the best comfort! She got water, chicken with cinnamon, and nice comfy seat for her to rest! Will come back, I recommend everyone to go and without dogs or with is very relaxing. Great air conditioning and WiFi, good space to take a break from the city
Z B★★★★☆
It was our first time here and we absolutely loved it. The place is really cute, the food and drinks are amazing. The service is great. It's a fancier place and bit on the pricier side, but you get big portions, so it pays off. I only have one thing to critize and that is that regular pancakes with nothing but Nutella cost more than the ones on the menu, bc they take the special pancakes' price and add "+Nutella", which is crazy in my opinion, as you get charged for sth you didn't get.

Insider Tips for Breakfast Near Casa Batlló

Understanding the local dining culture can significantly enhance your experience and help you avoid common tourist pitfalls. The rhythm of eating in Barcelona is different from many other countries, and adapting to it will allow you to dine like a local rather than a visitor. Here are some essential strategies to maximize your morning meal in this specific neighborhood.

1. Embrace the Late Breakfast Culture
Spaniards generally eat breakfast later than Northern Europeans or Americans. While many cafés open early to serve tourists, the local rush usually happens between 9:30 AM and 11:00 AM. If you arrive at 8:00 AM, you might find the place empty or the pastries not yet fully stocked. For the best atmosphere and freshest offerings, aim for mid-morning.

2. Look Beyond the "Full English"
While it is tempting to seek out a heavy fry-up, the local Catalan breakfast is a masterpiece of simplicity. Look for "Pa amb tomàquet" (bread rubbed with tomato and olive oil) served with Iberian ham or cheese. It is lighter, healthier, and infinitely more authentic than imported breakfast staples.

3. Check the Menu del Día Hours
Many restaurants near Casa Batlló transition from breakfast to lunch service very early, often by 12:30 PM or 1:00 PM. If you are looking for a late brunch at 1:00 PM, you might find that the kitchen has already switched over to the lunch menu. Always check the kitchen hours or ask a server before sitting down if you specifically want eggs or pancakes.

4. Prioritize the "Forn" (Bakery) Experience
The true heart of breakfast in Barcelona lies in its traditional "forns de pa" (bakeries). These establishments often have a small standing bar or a few tables in the back. You can get a superior quality croissant, a strong espresso, and a fresh orange juice for a fraction of the price of a sit-down brunch restaurant.

5. Be Wary of the "Menu Turistico"
Restaurants with large, laminated photo menus displayed on stands directly on the sidewalk are usually designed for high-volume tourism. While convenient, the food is rarely fresh and the prices are inflated. Walk two blocks away from the main entrance of Casa Batlló towards Enrique Granados or Aribau streets to find better value.

6. Hydrate Like a Local
Skip the expensive bottled water and order "agua del grifo" (tap water) if you need hydration, or better yet, enjoy the local custom of a "café con hielo" (espresso over ice) during the warmer months. Also, freshly squeezed orange juice is a staple here, and the machines in most cafés produce excellent quality.

7. Book for Weekend Brunch
If you are visiting on a Saturday or Sunday, the most popular brunch spots in the Eixample fill up very quickly between 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM. Reservations are highly recommended for table-service restaurants. If you haven’t booked, be prepared to wait or opt for a more casual bakery where turnover is faster.

Exploring the culinary landscape around Casa Batlló is an essential part of the Barcelona experience. While the architecture of Gaudí feeds the soul, the coffee and pastries of the Eixample feed the body, providing the energy needed to tackle the city’s endless hills and museums.

By choosing your breakfast spot wisely, you can escape the noise of the main avenue and discover the quiet, leafy streets where the real pulse of the city beats. Whether you opt for a luxurious sit-down brunch or a quick bite standing at a marble bar, the memories of these flavors will linger just as long as the image of the stunning mosaic facade.
