10 Best Vegetarian Restaurants in Toulouse

Toulouse may be famous for its cassoulet and duck confit, but the Pink City has quietly become one of France’s most exciting destinations for plant-based dining. Over the last decade, a new wave of chefs and entrepreneurs has transformed the local food scene, proving that vegetarian cuisine can be just as rich, indulgent, and deeply satisfying as traditional Southwestern cooking.

Whether you are a lifelong vegetarian, a curious flexitarian, or simply looking to balance out a heavy weekend of regional specialties, Toulouse offers a surprising variety of options. From cozy neighborhood bistros to sleek contemporary kitchens, the city serves up inventive dishes that highlight seasonal produce, artisan cheeses, and global flavors.

The challenge for visitors and locals alike is knowing where to find the truly standout meals. A quick search can pull up dozens of restaurants with a token salad or a single pasta dish, but that is not the same as a kitchen that genuinely celebrates vegetables and legumes. That is why we have done the legwork to identify the places that consistently deliver on flavor, creativity, and atmosphere.

In this guide, you will find a curated mix of fully vegetarian establishments and omnivore-friendly restaurants that take meat-free cooking seriously. Every recommendation has been selected for its commitment to quality ingredients, its welcoming service, and its ability to satisfy even the most skeptical diner at the table.

We have also considered practical details such as central locations, value for money, and the ability to accommodate vegan diners where possible. Toulouse is a compact, walkable city, so most of these spots are easy to reach from the Capitole, Saint-Cyprien, or the Carmes district.

Without further ado, here are the ten best vegetarian restaurants in Toulouse right now.

Very cozy and small, friendly. Feels like home, moderate choice of food. Food is simple and price is good 😊 Don't expect fancy food. For me most important was that it's vegetarian (and vegan)!!!
Jen★★★★★
Bring your appetite to get the most from this all-you-can-eat buffet! Plenty of vegan options, and they were all good, except I want too impressed with the dessert. The chocolate cake was dry and the fruit crumple was too sweet. But the hummus was some of the best I’ve had, and the noodle salad was fresh and tasty.
Yağmur Karabulut★★★★☆
A vegetarian restaurant with a great atmosphere and concept. I suggest trying at least 3 buffets: Salad, tort, main course or dessert. The ice cream freezer is also worth trying. Recommended!
Sam Taylor-Elliott★★★☆☆
I don't understand why somewhere with murals about animal welfare on the walls then chooses to add cheese, eggs and milk to salad products. I understand it's vegetarian not fully vegan but items that could easily have been vegan (beetroot salad, noodles, Mexican beans and pasta salad) were made with animal products. This severely limited the more filling vegan options on the salad bar. Furthermore, there was zero vegan protein available no tofu, tempeh, soya etc. Aside from the salad bar, one tart and one dessert (choc cake) was vegan, the cake was quite dry, the tart was tasty. Glad I accidentally came during happy hour as it's not good value for money for vegans or those who want protein options at full price unfortunately. Such a shame when vegan and vegetarian food can be much more inspiring, nutritious and filling.

Great deals on various buffets! Also outside seating. (No dogs allowed inside.)

Loved our brunch here! I was a bit surprised that the menu on the weekend only had a few options to choose from. But the plate itself was full of variety and very delicious. The staff were friendly and patient with us. The interior of the restaurant is very well appointed but I gave only 4 stars for atmosphere because we sat outside at uncomfortable tables with a very noisy street. I would recommend sitting inside and very much regretted being outside, though it was nice to breathe fresh air. If you're vegetarian or vegan, this is a place for you!! And even if not, maybe you could have one nice veggie meal? 🙂
Sabína S.★★★★★
Excellent food and service. I have intolerances to dairy products, nuts, seeds and bell pepper. They were extremely nice and understanding and prepared a special dish for me. In other places they would be annoyed. O was super happy with my special dish and the whole atmosphere and service.

Sixta exceeded my expectations. I read the previous reviews and was excited to find a true vegan restaurant. I ordered, “velouté de carottes et lentilles vertes, granola salé gingembre, huile verte” as an entree. Without exaggeration this was the best meal that I have had during a two week holiday in France. Beyond the excellent food and the cozy atmosphere the staff were warm and welcoming. I highly recommended this to anyone who observing a vegan diet.
Sam Taylor-Elliott★★★☆☆
The brunch dish was good, albeit a high price for very limited protein in the main dish, and the desserts very tasty, but I realised after I was slighlty overcharged.

First time here with my big family of 5 and it was wonderful! They were kind and warm at all times. Many staff are bilingual and helped us navigate the menu in Spanish and French. The food is delicious and so many options for people with allergies including gluten free and dairy free options. I would definitely come back!

This was a wonderful, authentic dining experience with fabulous food. Our server was delightful and very helpful with wine recommendations.

I highly recommend. Fresh food, local herbs, cooperative with local farmers, honey producers. The chef is preparing food so you can watch it. The taste is unbelievable! And the place is lovely, you can feel Toulouse's style in surrounding buildings. The place is quiet. Small, private. The prices are good.
SunSpirit_Chi★★★★★
Not many gluten free options but the vegan celery risotto and japanese salad( ginger carrot) tasted great! Vibe like a fusion Japanese izakaya~
Maria Achilleia★★★★★
Petit voyage is a small restaurant in Toulouse with a capacity of around 12 tables so better to make a reservation, I did not so I had to rush my dinner between bookings. The risotto was tasty but the portion was small for me. And the carrot 🥕 cake was rich and not too sweet. The stuff was friendly. Recommend it!
Elise Hiddink★★★★★
Loved eating in this little spot! I was looking for a place to eat around 13.00u, and this had amazing reviews and was close by. And reviews were right! The lady serving people was amazing. Her english was great, and if I felt that if I needed help, she would give it. Menu was divers and loved the specials of the day. I chose a special of the day, which was a risotto. It tasted amazing! I would really recommend this place! No spacious seating, but enough for a good!

The best food of my holiday!! Absolutely delicious food, it feels very french but with some fun twists. The tofu balls in particular were incredible! The loveliest atmosphere, friendly staff, and a perfect location: central but secluded. I will definitely be going back.
Crispis LaHoraDelTé★★★☆☆
It's all pretty, but disappointing and flavourless. We went for the midday deal, and it turns out they don't do it anymore, even though it is still advertised on their menu. You have to order from the menu of the week, and a small plate already cost the same as the deal used to. We order breaded aubergines as starter and that was fine, not crunchy as you would expect, but other than having no salt at all, it tasted ok. Then we order the 2 plates of the day to share and taste both: one was really bland, uninteresting, and they other one, a ridiculously small portion for a main dish, small puddle of noodle soup with thick slices of (unwashed) raw button mushrooms, then we didn't even finish it because it tasted bad. Something that normally only happens when the person designing the menu is not vegetarian is the lack of protein. It just feels like they are plating side dishes for you instead of offering you a real meal. I don't imagine they would have such a high rating in a city with a bigger vegetarian offer. I wouldn't recommend this place, but if you decide to try it, maybe better in the evening, when they have more options to choose from since anyway you pay full price at lunch.
shreeni singla★★★☆☆
We were excited to try this vegetarian restaurant but it didn’t meet our expectations at all. The interior is nicely decorated and staff is nice too but the food was disappointing. We only liked 1 tapas (the one with cauliflower) out of the 4 that we tried. Sweet potato and the roll were okish. Onion bhaji was a big disappointment as it had lots of salt and was not at all cooked from inside. We had to leave it as is.
Jonathan Riggs★★★☆☆
Quite nice, but not exceptional. Confused table service with bread coming late, taking our order interrupted to welcome other (more important?) customers, main dishes brought out before starter cleared away. Choice of only three starters but one was not available as advertised, with topinambour ‘hummus’ replaced by actual hummus (ie chickpea), and one of two mains not as described (also apparently chickpea hummus with hard-boiled eggs - despite description of ‘pois cassés’, and eggs ‘mollet’ - which makes for a quite a different dish. When the egg mistake was pointed out afterwards (twice, once to the waiter and also at payment, and only then after being asked for feedback as to whether everything was OK) it was met with a shrug and no apology. I want to like this restaurant, I really do, but - careful with the details!

Very good vegetarian restaurant at the heart of Toulouse. Loved the food, drinks and the ambience. The service was really good too. They serve a menu for the day with many vegetables, rice with a soup. Everything is home made and rich in flavours and very filling at an affordable price!!!! Also, it saves you a lot of headspace about countless options in the menu. They have a veriety of options for the drinks! Would highly recommend it to anyone. I am not vegetarian but i do appreciate good food. Thank you, La Sauterelle team❤️ Keep up the good work!

I came here twice during my 3 day stay in Toulouse and everything was amazing! It's the kind of place I'd spend a fortune at if I were from here - the coffee is great and they have a really good selection of dishes ranging from brekkie classics like granola to innovative dishes like their savoury pancakes which I was a bit sceptical about but were fire ❤️‍🔥 the white chocolate and macadamia cookie is probably maybe the best cookie I can remember having as a vegan?!
Zuzia Słowik★★★★★
Really amazing place for lunch, would come back everyday to eat here🥹💕 We had the ramen (shout out to this one in particular) and korma pita. Every bite of the food was extremely flavourful, presentation was really well thought through. It was a pleasure to eat here!! Definitely no.1 vegan place to eat in Toulouse!! And if you want to do some vegan shopping, the place has a rea good selection of vegan ingredients you can’t find in a grocery store
Sofya Dymchenko★★★☆☆
It was disappointing. I was coming with high hopes because it's a vegan restaurant. But in the end, for some reason, cook was probably having a bad day that day... I took salty pancakes. The sauce was all over the food already and it was SO INTENSE and so salty that it was hard to eat the food... The pancakes are not fluffy as you imagine the pancakes, they are very moist and gluey -- maybe because it's gluten free, but also because they were covered with all the other hot stuff that made them to be wet and unpleasant to eat. Bacon I expected something alike La Vie bacon, but... I genuinely don't know what it was. It was over fried, surely, it was very salty and sweet again. The only tasty part was the scrambled tofu. It could've been understandable if it was a rush hour or something, but I was alone when I ordered my food. Apart from the food -- 1) outside wooden table had a damage that damaged my clothes; 2) one of the workers decided that it's fine to smoke near their customers outside... They could at least move the chair a bit away... Overall -- maybe it's not a bad place in general, but I was unlucky to have a bad experience that made my day worsen and I will unlikely ever come back... I hope others have better experience. We need vegan and vegetarian restaurants.
Mike Berriman★★★★★
Quaint little vegan restaurant. We loved it. Good quality food and desserts. A great find.
Nick Karpach★★★★★
Best vegan venue out there in Toulouse! Everything is plant based, little shop in the cafe adds some groceries for your vegan treats arsenal. We got Savoury Pancakes and Sweet ones. Both are great, but! Savoury pancakes is something strongly recommended. Scrambled tofu is perfect and crispy no-bacon adds some great flavour. Can’t wait to come back to Brule! Thanks to the team for making this amazing work.

The sweetest old man served us, everything we ate was so tasty and the place has just so much character. Loved it. If you are vegetarian or vegan, this is your place to go. Price is for the inner city and the portion absolutely ok

Incredible Moroccan restaurant in the heart of Toulouse! Found it purely by chance and I didn't hesitate to have lunch here, since it's 100% vegetarian. The menu costs 15€ and it includes a delicious and refreshing chickpea salad, tajin of your choice (I had the one with green beans and eggplant, simply delicious) and dessert. The food is very flavorful, hearty and healthy at the same time. The man who runs the restaurant is incredibly kind and pleasant. I totally recommend it!
Mark Lennox★★★★★
Simple, but very delicious, vegetarian cous cous or tagine. The staff are great, very friendly, and even brought me a second helping! The set menu had split pea and cumin soup, the main course and a choice of pastries for dessert, and a choice of tea to accompany the meal - we had a Ginger, and a mint tea. Really great place for lunch

As almost everyone wrote, from the moment we entered with the most sincere welcome from the owner through our whole meal, it was a joy. Tasty, healthy, homemade vegetarian Moroccan food at every plate. 3 course menu for 13.5€ Closed Sunday and Monday.

I was happy to discover a vegetarian restaurant! The vibe here was very cute and colorful. The music was not too loud to talk. The restaurant has glass windows that open onto street for an open air experience. The food was tasty but portions were small for the price.

My first ever vegetarian Vietnamese food and I'm so happy I found it! Very tasty 😋 also great in summer, they have many fans and they provide hand fans at each table! Variety of sauces on the table. Reusable chopsticks always a great touch 💚 Stuff is very friendly

This was one of my best meals in France! The bao buns had a peanut sauce that was SO DELICIOUS! The mushroom cakes were crunchy on the outside with also a spectacular sauce, and the noodle soup was an ideal food for a chilly evening. The colorful ceiling made the space fun, and the bathroom was also well decorated. The staff were helpful and the service was so fast!

Vast Vegetarian Selection. Booking highly recommended. Dinner is organized in 2 turns (19.00 and 21.00), Quick service, fast turnaround. Seating place is a bit cramped, not recommended for a long dinner. Great Quality to price Ratio. Very good food and abundant portions for appropriate price.

Super!! Real, authentic Vietnamese cuisine, full of flavour! So much choice for vegans and vegetarians. The staff were friendly and polite, and clearly work hard in this busy establishment. The decor, as others have mentioned, is really pretty and for a moment you forget that you're in France! I particularly liked the soya protein pieces within the dish - it was tender, moist and packed with flavour! The nems are unique, tasty and filling! Presentation of the food was 10/10! My partner and I had a great night! Thanks Bep Chay! Booking highly recommended!

I loved the food so much, I came back a second time. The first time, the service was kind, but very slow. The place was practically empty, but it still took almost half an hour to get my food. That being said, it was worth the wait! And the second time, the food came out very fast, so I don’t know what happened the first time. The sweet pancakes and house potatoes were delicious. I also tried a pistachio cookie with raspberry filling, and it was so flavorful. The latte with oatmilk was good, but nothing special. Definitely check this place out, especially if you’re looking for vegan options!
Laurence Lequarré★★★★★
We were looking for a place to get a tea and a pastry. What a nice discovery that this place. Nice music in the background that helps you relax after a long day of visit in the city. We took the crumble and, even if there was a bit too much chocolate for my taste, it was just excellent. The selection of tea is correct. To resume, a place to relax with a good tea and a confort pastry.
Anushka H.★★★★★
We had an amazing brunch at Peacock! We had some avocado toast and noccio pancakes, and the real star was the refreshing ice tea !

I’ve just had lunch here and I can confirm food (+ dessert) is simply delicious and full of flavour. The staff are very friendly too which is obviously a big plus for a pleasant experience.
Monica★★★★★
Thankful for this place, as its one of few cafes in central Toulouse serving smoothie bowls. Love all the fresh fruit on top, and the fact that you can choose the type of granola you get on top. Only thing that could be improved is if the smoothie could be a bit colder/have more ice - though that could be a matter of personal preference.

Absolutely enjoyed the dining experience here. A small cozy restaurant with Hindi music playing in the background. The service was very satisfying. The menu is simple. Just a few things to choose from. We had the samosas which were made of whole wheat and baked. The thali came with 2 curries, a dal, rita, rice and roti. Everything felt fresh and healthy. Highly recommend this place if you are looking for a zero guilt dining because you will go back feeling healthy. The only downside I felt was that the thali comes with half a roti. Which felt so incomplete. Even if the size was made smaller, a full roti would would nice. I also recommend the hot masala chai.
Vineet Mani★★★★★
One of the best, tastiest and most homely Indian meals ever! I have eaten at several Indian restaurants, both in India and abroad. I can honestly say that the meals we had here were among the best ever. For dinner, the restaurant only provides a singular option of Thali. The curries and dishes in the Thali change everyday based on the vegetables available. This ensures the food is very fresh and seasonal. It is prepared tastefully and created a sense of comfort like home food. Their starters are also similar and very tasty. The chef was kind enough to meet us and I admire the team there for being responsive and thoughtful. We loved it so much that we visited the place twice within 4 days. We might have gone thrice but they were closed on the Sunday. Overall loved the experience!
Louis P.★★★★★
Not your usual Indian restaurant (with lots of oil and spices) This is the place where you finish your meal feeling healthier and younger than before 😁 The evening thali is probably the only traditional Indian thali in Toulouse. Please keep it up, Prasad!
Tejas Patel★★★★★
Good Gujarati Thali styled restaurant. The preparation of food was fresh, which is quite rare in Western hemisphere for Indian food. Lassi options were great too. Would recommend a visit for quality and taste of the food. Ambience is subjective and may not be as per everyone's liking.

Finally a proper vegetarian meal in Toulouse... Loved the atmosphere.. loved the food.. and most of all loved the Bollywood songs that were playing..

Tips for Choosing a Great Vegetarian Meal in Toulouse

While the restaurants above will rarely disappoint, knowing how to navigate the local dining scene will make your experience even better. Toulouse is a city of deep culinary tradition, and with a little insider knowledge, you can find excellent meat-free food almost anywhere—not just at the dedicated vegetarian spots. These practical tips will help you eat well, avoid common pitfalls, and discover hidden gems throughout the Pink City.

1. Look for the “fait maison” label.
In France, the “fait maison” designation means dishes are prepared from scratch on the premises. This is a strong signal that a kitchen takes pride in its vegetables and sauces rather than reheating industrial products. Restaurants that display this label are far more likely to offer a thoughtful vegetarian dish than those that rely on frozen sides.

2. Embrace the lunchtime “formule.”
Most Toulouse restaurants offer a fixed-price lunch menu called a “formule,” typically including a starter and main course or a main course and dessert. This is the most affordable way to try high-quality vegetarian cooking, often at half the price of evening dining. Book a table for Thursday or Friday lunch if you want to experience the city’s best kitchens without the weekend crowds.

3. Learn the local market calendar.
The best vegetarian dishes are built on seasonal produce, and Toulouse has a thriving market culture. Visit the Marché Cristal or the Marché Saint-Aubin on a weekend morning to see what is fresh, then look for those ingredients on restaurant menus. Restaurants that mention specific farms or market days on their chalkboards are usually the ones that care most about their vegetables.

4. Ask for the “assiette végétarienne” even when it is not on the menu.
Many traditional French bistros in Toulouse do not list a vegetarian main course, but they will happily assemble a generous plate of seasonal sides, grilled vegetables, lentils, or a cheese course if you ask politely. This is especially true at lunchtime. The key is to ask with a smile and show genuine interest in the kitchen’s produce.

5. Check for vegan-friendly adaptations before booking.
Several of the restaurants on this list are vegetarian rather than fully vegan, which means dairy and eggs feature heavily in some dishes. If you follow a strict plant-based diet, call ahead or check the online menu for clearly marked vegan options. Toulouse’s best vegetarian kitchens are almost always willing to adapt a dish, but they appreciate advance notice.

6. Pair your meal with local Southwestern wines.
Vegetarian food in Toulouse does not mean giving up the region’s outstanding wine culture. Light reds from Fronton or crisp whites from Gaillac pair beautifully with roasted vegetables, lentils, and goat cheese. Many of the city’s best vegetarian-friendly restaurants have excellent local wine lists, so ask your server for a pairing rather than defaulting to water or soft drinks.

Toulouse has evolved far beyond its meat-heavy reputation. The city now offers a genuinely exciting vegetarian dining scene that honors the rich culinary traditions of the Southwest while embracing fresh, global ideas. Whether you settle into a sunny terrace in Saint-Cyprien or a candlelit table in the Carmes, you will find that eating meat-free here feels less like a compromise and more like a discovery.

The restaurants and tips in this guide are designed to help you eat with confidence, whether you are visiting for a weekend or settling in for a longer stay. As the plant-based movement continues to grow in France, Toulouse is poised to remain one of its most delicious and welcoming destinations.
