12 Best Hotels in Colmar

Colmar feels less like a town and more like a living storybook illustration. Half-timbered houses painted in pastel shades lean over quiet canals, flower boxes burst with geraniums in summer, and the scent of Alsatian wine and fresh brioche drifts from hidden courtyards. It is the kind of destination that invites slow wandering, where every cobbled lane in La Petite Venise or the Quartier des Tanneurs reveals a detail you missed the first time. Yet to truly appreciate its magic, you need a place to stay that matches the town’s charm, comfort, and character.

Choosing the right hotel in Colmar is not just about finding a bed. The city’s historic center is largely pedestrianized, parking can be challenging, and the atmosphere shifts dramatically between the busy daytime crowds and the quiet, lantern-lit evenings. A well-located hotel lets you experience the town like a local: waking up before the tour buses arrive, lingering over a glass of Crémant d’Alsace as the shutters close, and walking home through streets that feel entirely your own.

This guide is built on practical, first-hand knowledge of Colmar’s neighborhoods, hotel standards, and the small details that make a stay memorable. We have considered everything from breakfast quality and soundproofing in centuries-old buildings to proximity to the train station and access for drivers. Whether you are visiting for the Christmas markets, the Unterlinde Museum, or a romantic weekend, the right base transforms your trip.

Not every traveler wants the same thing. Some seek a grand, historic property with a spa and a Michelin-starred restaurant, while others prefer a quiet family-run guesthouse with a courtyard for morning coffee. Couples might prioritize a four-poster bed and canal views, while families often need connecting rooms and easy access to parking. This list balances luxury, location, character, and value so you can find the exact match for your style.

In the following recommendations, you will find hotels that have proven themselves through consistent service, genuine local character, and thoughtful attention to comfort. They are arranged not as a strict ranking but as a curated selection for different needs and budgets. Each one offers something distinctive, from a converted winery to a contemporary design hideaway.

Once you have chosen your perfect place, the practical tips at the end will help you navigate booking, parking, and seasonal considerations. With the right preparation, your stay in Colmar can feel effortless, leaving you free to focus on the town’s beauty, its food, and its remarkable wines.

A charming traditional hotel in a prime location, right in the heart of the picturesque "Little Venice" district. Our standard room, located in the attic, was quite small but cozy, well maintained, and spotlessly clean. However, the final access to the room is via a steep and narrow staircase, which is worth bearing in mind. Unfortunately, we visited Colmar during the hottest days of the year, and the air conditioning system proved to be insufficient to cope with the high temperatures. The highlights of our stay were the excellent location, the courteous and professional staff, and the outstanding breakfast, served in a delightful and romantic dining room.

Beautiful hotel right in the heart of Colmar! Very conveniently located to everything in the village. The staff were SO kind and welcoming. Our room was very clean, spacious, and cozy. The bed was firm but comfy, the bathroom had an enormous tub/shower! We had one light meal at the bar- cheese plate with drinks. Maybe I was just tired and hungry but it was the best cheese plate of the visit. I would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend others to stay here!

Amazing staff, they took great care of us. In particular, Nathalie, was very very helpful. My son got sick and she dropped everything to help us, arranged a hospital visit, provided all the guidance and spent her morning to make sure we were ok. We visited there during the heat wave, and the room ac wasn't strong enough, they promptly arranged a portable ac unit to keep us cool. If we are in the town, we will go there again.

I would say that this hotel is quaint and cozy, but I would argue it’s not a 4 star experience. Missing key amenities such as a wash cloth, soap, shampoo, lotion etc. No hot water in the morning for bath. Service was a bit lacking, seemed indifferent/disorganized. Offered very little assistance and didn’t seem interested in helping us. Breakfast was a huge let down, very sparse and not what I expected after other similar breakfasts around France and Europe. Hotel bar told us they wouldn’t make such sandwiches because they “ran out of bread,” when I asked for help getting room service, I was told to use Uber Eats. Great location in the town and the hotel setting feels very typical European/authentic. But overall I was very let down by the staff and quality of the features.

Extremely disappointing experience. The atmosphere is undeniably beautiful — unfortunately, that’s where the positives end. The food was genuinely horrible. There were 5–6 courses and the only thing I liked was a small piece of fruit or jam. Everything else was overly salty, with aggressive, unbalanced flavors that clashed instead of working together. Nothing blended on the palate — each bite was harsh and unpleasant. Nearly every dish was covered in black truffle or caviar, clearly used to look luxurious rather than to enhance the food. Instead, these ingredients overwhelmed the dishes and made everything taste heavy, muddy, and one-note. One course included an oyster with its poop sac still attached. For a restaurant positioning itself as fine dining, this is absolutely unacceptable. Service was painfully slow. One evening lasted over 4 hours, with no sense of pacing or care for the guest experience. Guests staying at the hotel are required to dine here, with meals automatically included in the stay. We paid roughly $3,000 for three nights, and dinner was marketed as all-inclusive. We therefore had to eat here three nights in a row, despite how bad the food was, with no option to opt out. On the first night, we never ordered champagne. A server simply arrived, presented the bottle, and poured it without asking or mentioning a price, making it clearly appear complimentary. This matters because when alcohol is not included, restaurants normally provide a wine menu with clearly listed prices — which did not happen here. We were later charged €44 for the champagne. When we raised this with the front desk, the response was simply “yeah, you had to pay for it,” which felt dismissive and strange given how it was presented. On the following two nights, the champagne was complimentary and served in the exact same way, which only reinforced how misleading the first night was. The restaurant manager was rude and unhelpful, while the hotel staff themselves were genuinely kind and professional For €285 per person, this experience is absolutely not worth the price tag. not even remotely. A cool atmosphere cannot make up for bad food, misleading charges, poor management, and a forced dining experience. — Colmar as a whole is a giant L. If you love cheap chinese christmas tree ornaments, and horrible food it’s for you! 🙂

Excellent location and a truly wonderful stay! The absolute highlight for us was the breakfast. They serve incredible, traditional French bread that was still warm and fresh-baked when we had it. Absolutely delicious! Whether they bake it on-site or source it from a top-tier local bakery, the quality is outstanding. Forgot to say they also have espresso machine, hot chocolate, mocha , espresso, latte , etc. Just a quick tip for future guests: if your room is in the attic, be prepared for a very narrow corridor and narrow stairs. It's charming, but something to keep in mind if you have heavy luggage! Highly recommend overall.

At other times of the year, I would give this hotel a 5-star review. It has an amazing atmosphere, friendly staff, a great breakfast, clean rooms, and it's located in the perfect location. However, we stayed there at the end of May. It was extremely hot (32 C) and the air conditioning hadn't been turned on for the summer yet. The heat made it very unpleasant to come back to the hotel. So as lovely as the hotel could have been, we really couldn't enjoy it and we heard several other guests say the same thing. Also disappointing was the hotel's response when we asked about it. We asked two different staff members. The first told us that they needed to get their air conditioning serviced before they can turn it on for the year. This is understandable but since we all know it gets hot during May, they really should get it serviced earlier so that they're ready rather than pretending to be surprised every May. The second person we asked told us that air conditioning isn't used in France before June, which obviously isn't true. Overall, it came across like they're just trying to save a bit of money at the expense of their customers' comfort. If they had allowed us to use the fan from the air conditioning system or even if they had just apologized, I wouldn't be publicly criticizing them. But the lack of A/C really took away from our stay and the hotel staff just seemed to dismiss our concerns, albeit cheerfully. So if you want to stay there when it isn't hot or when the air conditioning is working, this hotel is 5/5. But if it's hot and they haven't turned on the air conditioning yet, I would definitely stay somewhere else. The convenience of the location isn't worth the discomfort.

Fantastic hotel right in the center of old town of Colmar. Shop, bars, restaurants, atm and cafes surrounding you as you step out the front door. All the staff I met were very polite, friendly and attentive especially the main hostess lady on reception who explained everything and gave me a map, made recommendations and kept my bags while I explored further after checkout. The hotel has a warmly decorated vibe set in an old building. Breakfast was lovely. The room beautifully designed with comfortable beds , good space. Definitely come back someday and highly recommend.

This hotel's location is unbeatable for a weekend in Colmar! Walkable everywhere, easy walk from the Saint-Josse car park (€3 for 24hrs) and right in the thick of the action and colourful houses. However the hotel overall is a bit tired (although to be fair the walls are around 500 years old!). Common rooms are dated, and feel unloved. Our bedroom was on the third floor with no lift - a good workout and great view of rooftops. It was spacious but dated. Bed was comfortable, shower hot. Our sink was blocked and staff did address that swiftly. Breakfast was ok - a tricky room layout means ppl queue for hot drinks and plates. Pastries were on the well-done side and there was a limited selection of fruit. On balance we would stay again due to the location and comfortable room. But a bit of an interior refresh would do wonders to common areas.

I made a date error while booking the hotel, a week later than needed. This was discovered upon arrival on the same day as the booking. Upon arrival, the staff requested I paid for 2 additional nights, and subsequently refused to reimburse the 2 erroneous booked days, blaming hotels.com for their inability to cancel. When contacting hotels.com for reimbursement, cancellation I'm informed it can only happen with approval of the hotel. When I was there, the hotel staff lied by informing me they had never been contacted by hotels.com, and subsequently after my departure, refused to reimburse the erroneous booking, thus pocketing the money from the 2 additional nights. I find the behavior incredibly dishonest and without any understanding or service mindedness. Generally, the location is decent, while the hotel is quite worn down, and the breakfast buffet is absolute horrendous.

We had a very pleasant stay at this aparthotel. It's not a luxury property, but it has everything you need for a comfortable stay. The apartment includes a small bedroom with two single beds and a compact wardrobe. The second room features a well-equipped kitchenette and a sofa bed that converts into a reasonably comfortable double bed. It's not a luxury mattress, but it's perfectly fine for a good night's sleep. The location is excellent—just a 5-minute walk from the heart of Colmar and all the main attractions, making it very convenient to explore the city on foot. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the coffee served at breakfast was very good. The only downside was the air conditioning. During our stay, the weather was extremely hot, and the AC wasn't powerful enough to cool the apartment properly. Overall, it's a great choice for families with children who are looking for good value and comfort rather than a five-star luxury experience. Highly recommended.

Edit: was charged 80 euro for room cleaning fee after check out. However, nobody notified us the rule when check in. A bummer and a total surprise! Conveniently located which is minutes away from the center of Colmar. The apartment room is very clean and is quite new. We enjoyed our stay. The balcany faces a courtyard and a tower.

Stayed in a 4-person apartment with pretty much all the amenities, and a great comfortable spacious area to relax. The complex is very close to the old town and the railway station, both about a 10 minute stroll. There is ample underground parking, which was extremely important - definitely choose Petite Venise again.

We spent a weekend here. The location is great, the old town is a few minutes from here. The service was great, people are really nice and helpful. Our room was clean although compared to other 3 star hotels there weren’t any shampoo or shower gel in the bathroom. The only thing that was not communicated before is that we had to clean the kitchen (which we do every time when we stay an apartment like hotels) if not there is a 80€ fee. We had to take out the trash and steer the bedding and leave it on the bed with the used towels. I don’t mind doing such things since I am a neat person but I am just wondering why we pay the same price than in another hotels AND we have to do half of the cleaning?! This is the first time we experienced this but again we didn’t mind. Altogether it was a nice stay and we recommend this place☺️

We had a wonderful 5 night stay in late November, early December. The units have a large comfortable bed, kitchenette with a small table and 2 chairs. The bathroom was small, but well appointed. The shower rose had an inbuilt LED light (see photo). There is also a private balcony, that, because of the time of year, we did not use. The unit was very clean and the air conditioner kept it toasty warm. The units are very well located to Colmar’s old town area and a level 10 minute walk to the train station. All our dealings with staff were helpful and courteous.

Great room, although the head was on the hard side to my personal liking. The breakfast was great, and the location is really good close to little Venice. For our stay it was quite a big minus that the electric charging and parking option was not available due to a "fully booked" parking area, which apparently is rather limited.
Sharon Sopher★★★★★
We loved our stay. Friendly and helpful staff. Rooms were modern and convenient. Easy to e bike to the town centre by hiring the e-bikes directly available from the hotel. Perfect!! We also hired a tour through Detour Alsace - an e-bike tour and Cedric our guide, was amazing. Great way to see the vineyards.

The location is excellent—right on the edge of Colmar’s old town and within easy walking distance of the main sights. The hotel also appears relatively new and well maintained. Unfortunately, at €245 for 2 nights, it was of marginal value. The room was a very ordinary accessible room, which made the bathroom awkward to use. The wet-room setup felt more like a camper bathroom than an upscale hotel. Our first-floor room was directly across from the elevator and above the entrance and bus stop, so it was noisy throughout the day and night. The walls were also very thin. Parking was another major frustration. The spaces were extremely cramped, and on our second night another guest was assigned the space we had already paid for. At checkout, the clerk also claimed we had underpaid through Expedia and tried to charge us more. I refused, and we ultimately paid only the city tax and parking. UPDATE: The hotel director graciously contacted me about my review - there was apparently some miscommunication between my travel agent and Expedia, and I have corrected the errors in this review. I have added an additional star, but would still be circumspect about booking here again.

Stayed in mid-may, 2026. Novotel Suites Colmar Centre The hotel is pretty new and modern. The room is modern and big, but beds are very very very stiff and tough. 2 seperate bathrooms (toilet/mini sink, sink/shower). Complementary coffee and tea in the room was pleasant. Wifi works pretty good, and the AC works only when you go on fan mode 2 or 3. Staff are incredibly nice and offer plates for the room. The breakfast was not my favourite, but it didn't look very bad. It was just very crowded and not much variety before they replenished it. The location is very good, being right in city center (5 mins walk to Le Petit Venise) Overall, hotel is new, great location, breakfast was mid.

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel and would highly recommend it. The staff were exceptionally kind, welcoming, and always ready to help with a smile, making us feel at home from the moment we arrived. The rooms were amazing—spacious, beautifully maintained, incredibly comfortable, and spotlessly clean. The attention to cleanliness throughout the hotel was outstanding and truly appreciated. Breakfast was excellent, with a great variety of fresh and delicious options to start the day. The hotel's location is another major advantage, as it is perfectly situated close to everything we wanted to visit, making it easy to explore the area. Overall, a fantastic experience thanks to the outstanding staff, comfortable accommodations, excellent breakfast, and ideal location. We would definitely stay here again.

I dont understand the 2.9 rating on Google. What do people expect from a hotel for 60€ per night? Roomservice, swimming pool and sauna? 🤣 I think the place is exactly what you can expect from it. The room is very clean, bed is comfortable, the breakfast was nice. The staff is also very kind. The parking next to the hotel is very big and cheap, so no need to worry about not having a parking space.

Central, with parking lot right in front. Air conditioning working well, very good breakfast, clean room, comfy bed. Considering the price, I can't complain!

The hotel is a older one but for us it fitted. We found a parking space next to the hotel for charge. And ten minutes per walk away was also a big parking space for free (manufacture). This was a good hint of one of the employees. We hadn’t a paper sign for the door to clean oder clean not the room. But there was someone in the room for cleaning without our knowing. Who doesn’t care about a new and modern furnished room which is clean, has space and is good located, will be happy with this hotel. We haven’t eat there for breakfast. So we can’t say anything about the food.
Jim C★★☆☆☆
Cheap for a reason. Fairly tired decor throughout. Rooms very tight on space. In our particular room, the curtain was missing, the toilet seat was the wrong size and one of the bed reading lights didn't work. Bed itself was comfortable and clean.
J★★☆☆☆
The location is superb. Besides the bed, the room itself is dirty. Staff was friendly but the place looks really torn down and shady. Staff not wearing any uniform, just the building itself is not well maintained. The airco was nice tho. But no trash can and the smell was really bad. I had to open a window for the bad sewer smell. Wifi is non existent too. It's inexpensive but still.

While I was only here for 24 hours, I loved my stay at La Maison des Tetes. It's a charming hotel and the breakfast setting was so intimate! Definitely make sure to have dinner here! Also, the air conditioning is true AC, so if you come in the summer months, you will be nice and cool!

Fabulous! From beginning to end! Thank you! Front desk came out to greet us and guide us to parking space and help with luggage. When we found that our suite was on 2 levels we asked to be moved. The hotel performed some magic and found us a beautiful large room on one floor. Again, thank you! The suite was equipped with espresso maker, tea, water and a surprise welcome of Madelines. This is when we started to notice that attention to detail differentiated this hotel from other high end properties. Even the tea was superb. Europe was in the middle of a heat wave, our room was not. The a/c was performing so well we had to moderate it. Breakfast was a challenge. There were so many different yummy items on our tray. Home made granola, smoked meat, ham, cheeses, croissants, baguette, honey, jams and eggs or French omelet made to order. Not to mention cake. No way to finish this breakfast. Then we noticed a little take away bag. The ladies who worked the breakfast…so wonderful! Again, thank you. We also had dinner in both the restaurant and the brassiere. Bravo! Worthy of the Michelin star! Do have the wine pairing. Very beautifully done! The patisserie connected to the hotel is worth a special note. The delicious chocolates were unforgettable. Maison du Chocolate, move over. This is where I chose to fill my extra bag (bring an extra insulated bag) about 20 pounds of exquisitely balanced chocolates to bring home! We will be back again! Thank you all for the best stay we had this trip!

This hotel is in the centre of the old town so the location is brilliant. The room was great for a family, only downfall no standing shower just a bath. The Breakfast was also an amazing experience. We arrived to our table set up with fruit, yoghurt, meats, cheese, fresh croissants, cakes and fresh juice. A special mention to the young waiter who served us and our coffee, very professional and lovely. Also Manuella at breakfast was amazing, she was so caring and accommodating, whatever required was no trouble, she really added to our experience and was lovely each morning. Manuella helped pack some of the breakfast items to take onto our final journey back to London. The staff are very accommodating throughout and go above and beyond to be helpful. Before departing they packed us bags of water and cake to take with us. I cannot recommend this hotel enough, it is the little things that make so much difference!

Recently visited to celebrate our anniversary. We have stayed at many luxury hotels and La Maison des Tetes did not disappoint. Our room was spotless. Highly recommend!

I had a wonderful stay at Hotel Turenne in Colmar. Upon check-in, I was pleasantly surprised to receive a complimentary upgrade to a Premium Room. The room was clean, modern, and offered a great view from the window. The air conditioning worked perfectly, which made the stay very comfortable, and the hot water was always reliable. I stayed for three nights and thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere of the hotel. The check-in and check-out processes were smooth and efficient, and the location was very convenient, close enough to the Old Town while still being in a quiet area. A big thank you to all the staff at Hotel Turenne for their hospitality and excellent service. I will definitely stay here again when I visit Colmar in the future. Highly recommended!

My experience at the hotel has been very positive. I would especially highlight its excellent location and ease of access, which make the stay very comfortable. The facilities are in impeccable condition, with an excellent level of cleanliness in both the rooms and the common areas. I also highly value the quality of the breakfasts, with a varied offer, quality products and attentive service. One of the aspects that I also liked was the parking lot: spacious, comfortable, well-lit and with generous spaces that greatly facilitate maneuvering and parking. It is an important added value for customers who travel by vehicle. Finally, it is worth highlighting the agility and professionalism of the team during the check-in and check-out processes. Everything is managed quickly, efficiently and with friendly treatment, which contributes to a very satisfactory experience. Without a doubt, it is an establishment that I would recommend and where I would stay again with confidence.

We had stayed in a B&B in Konstanz on the way down and were hoping for a similar experience here, but we were left a little disappointed. The room (115) was fine, apart from the curtain hanging partly off the rails (I fixed this myself) and radiator hanging off the wall, but for the price we paid (129 euro for four people for one night) we got what we needed, which was a room with comfortable beds, WIFI, a shower, a good night sleep, and a decent breakfast. The staff were friendly and helpful. If you're looking for a little more luxury, and not a basic stay, look elsewhere, but for one night it was fine. Despite the two completely different experiences in a B&B hotel, I would consider booking again for the value for money.

A really good budget hotel. The rooms were tiny but it did not effect us much, I assume it will be annoying if you want to stay multiple days or have a lot of luggage. The AC and the internet were great. The breakfast was satisfactory as well. The bathrooms can use a renovation, they seemed a bit old. Besides that we were satisfied with our stay.

good Price for what you get in a Region where most hotels are way more expensive. located outside colmar centre, bus brings you there in 20 minutes. rooms are small, no flair, but clean and quiet. a hair drier would have been nice.

The cleanliness of the bathroom was a major disappointment. There was a strong, unpleasant odor, both the sink and shower drains were clogged, and the shower curtain was dirty. Furthermore, the mattress on the master bed dipped significantly on one side. The hotel lacks an elevator, and staff provided no assistance with carrying heavy suitcases up to the second floor. Lastly, the breakfast options were extremely limited compared to standard hotel offerings. There were no vegetables or salads, no boiled eggs, no chicken, and virtually no fruit aside from a few old apples.

We found this hotel very convenient and comfortable. It’s well positioned, just a short walk to the city centre, which during our visit was hosting the Colmar Noël Marché. Our loft room was warm and cosy, with a great shower and a comfortable bed. Breakfast and dinner are available if you prefer to stay in, which is a nice option. The room was also well equipped for modern travellers, with plenty of USB outlets and socket outlets—something we really appreciated with multiple devices to charge. Overall, a great location and a pleasant stay.

We, a group of five bikers, stayed at this hotel for a long weekend, and everything was perfect. It started with the very friendly staff and the nice rooms. The breakfast was amazing, offering a wide variety of breads, cakes, and croissants, as well as a large selection of cheeses and cold cuts. The hotel also had a small bar where we enjoyed our nightcaps, served by the amazing night receptionist. Best Ibis Hotel we have visited so far. Close proximity to downtown.

The staff were friendly, the room was fine, and the breakfast was good. Overall, we had a pleasant stay. However, the online check-in option was not available. Furthermore, although the reservation stated that payment would be made at the hotel, the hotel attempted to place a charge on my card the day before our stay began. When I contacted the hotel to ask about it, I was told that it was a pre-authorisation. I understand that this may be a common procedure in some hotels, but it was the only one of the four hotels where we stayed during our holiday that did this. I would have appreciated receiving clear information about it in advance.

The location is great, near the old town! You have parking in front of the hotel, and after 19:00 is free until 09:00 in the morning! The rooms are small, but clean! For French standards, this is an inexpensive hotel, and the price reflects the quality. During our road trip, we stayed at seven different Ibis Budget hotels, and in many cases the quality exceeded our expectations for the price. Breakfast was very good, although it was practically the same in every hotel. It would have been nice to see a few local specialties or regional variations 🙂 The hotel has its own parking lot, and we had no trouble finding a parking space. The accommodation was comfortable and perfectly adequate. There are no wardrobes in the rooms, but there are plenty of hangers and shelves instead. The room had a working air conditioner, a private toilet+shower. 🚽🚿 The toilet is separate, while the shower is located in a small enclosed cubicle (almost like a wardrobe), the sink and mirror in the room itself. 🚶‍♀️5min walk from the old city centre.

School trip, rooms for 3. Never again. ⭐ (1/5) We stayed here as a school class, about 30 people, rooms booked for 3 each. The room itself: a double bed plus a single bed on a loft frame above it, so bed-wise, 3 people technically fit. But that's about it – no closet, no shelf, nowhere to put anything. Two suitcases on the floor and the room is already full, no room to unpack, barely room to move, let alone actually live in there as three people. The room smelled bad the moment we opened the door, like a mix of urine, sewage and rotten eggs. I found hairs in my bed that weren't mine, and the shower had mold in it. Others from our group told us they found bed bugs in their room – not in ours, to be fair, but that didn't exactly make us sleep better. The sink isn't even in a bathroom, it just stands in the room, and it's cracked and chipped (photos attached). The toilet is a plastic cubicle like on a train and the door doesn't lock. The shower glass is supposed to be frosted but has clear spots you can see through. So privacy is basically zero, with 3 people per room. Our room door in particular squeaked so loud it woke everyone up every time someone went out. Plus there's a construction site directly across the street, jackhammers and trucks all day. About the deposit: yes, a few people from our group (maybe 4 out of 30) were too loud one night, that's on them. But the hotel then wanted to keep 30% of the deposit from every single one of us. Our teacher got it down to 10% – mainly by pointing out the state of the rooms we all had. Punishing the whole group for a handful of people, in rooms like these, just felt wrong. I get that it's a budget hotel. But clean beds and rooms where the booked number of people actually fits should be the minimum.*

I had a great stay at the ibis budget Colmar. The staff are very kind, welcoming, and always pleasant. The rooms are clean, well-maintained, and comfortable. The hotel is quiet and cozy. Breakfast is excellent, offering a good variety of quality products to start the day right. Thanks to the whole team for the warm welcome—I would happily recommend this hotel!

26/27 June 2026 - We spent one night in June 2026 on our motoring holiday. The hotel was centrally located and we enjoyed the evening out in this small but perfectly formed town. Also enjoyed a few beers and football at a French/Irish Pub !!O'Rabbit's Irish Pub - where the Jovial landlord would comeout and celebrate everyone France scored.

A very bad experience overall. The room was extremely small, but that wasn’t even the main issue. The mattress had deep dents, making sleep absolutely unbearable. Breakfast was a truly unpleasant surprise. Spoiled cheese was being served, and the eggs in the egg boiler were mistakenly undercooked—guests would take them, only to realize after cracking them that they were completely raw. Handling raw eggs with a risk of salmonella while also touching your bread was simply disgusting.

I loved this place. It is conveniently close to the train station and 20 minutes walk away from the historical city centre. The room was very comfortable and modern. I liked the little gestures like sweetes and coffee and complimentary water. I stayed for one night only but was sad to go. I wished I planned my trip differently so I could have spend more time at this place. The breakfast was excellent. One of the rare hotels that has normal sized glasses so you don't run out of water or orange juice after two sips. That's the bit I like the most. The staff is very professional yet helpful and kind.

This was my favorite hotel in France - so clean, well run, modern, and plenty of thoughtful touches. The staff were amazing and accommodating. I never eat at hotel breakfasts because they’re often disappointing, but this one was great - yogurt with various topping options, chocolate loaf cake, fruits and veggies, baguettes with cheese and jam, eggs, etc

The Colmar Hotel is very clean, and I had a superb suite with a magnificent mountain view. The bed was extremely comfortable, and upon my arrival there was a fruit platter available in the room, which was a very thoughtful gesture. The staff were truly very kind and always did their best to help and make the stay pleasant. The place is very relaxing and completely exotic — it really feels like being in a small French village surrounded by nature. There are a few activities and places to visit nearby, easily doable within one or two days. They also provide a free shuttle that takes guests to the different activities as well as to the mosque located about five minutes from the village. They also offer a round-trip shuttle service from Kuala Lumpur to the hotel (with extra charge of course), which is very convenient. The resort also offers restaurants, a swimming pool, a very beautiful garden, activities for children, and pleasant areas for walking. There is also a small convenience store, a game room with billiards and other activities, as well as a reflexology area operated by visually impaired people (paid service of course). But above all, people come here to recharge, rest, and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere, and it truly feels good. It is also for this reason that I think there is sometimes a little too much music during the day. The breakfast was very well prepared with a wide selection of around twenty dishes: local specialties, omelets, boiled eggs and other preparations, bread, croissants, fruits, and many other options, vegetarian or not. On Saturday evening, they offered a barbecue along with other dishes for people who do not eat meat. In the evening, there was also a fire show near the swimming pool, which created a very pleasant atmosphere. I left feeling very rested, relaxed, and refreshed. It is also possible to request a private driver to take you wherever you wish (with extra charge of course). Personally, I had a pleasant driver during a visit to Janda Baik. The only point I could mention is that the owner should plan some renovations in order to properly maintain and preserve the place, ideally during a quieter period with fewer tourists. In particular, renovating the common areas and the elevators would really help highlight the beauty and charm of this place even more. This absolutely does not concern the staff, who are very welcoming, professional, and pleasant in every aspect of the stay. I also thank them for allowing me to keep the room free of charge until 3 PM on the day of departure, even though I was supposed to check out at 12 PM! The rooms nevertheless remain very large, clean, and comfortable. The materials used in the shower, flooring, and kitchen are still of good quality and well maintained, considering that the place is not new. That is also why I think gradual renovation would be a good idea, as well as offering more paid activities or excursions located 2 or 3 hours away from the hotel for guests staying several nights. Overall, it was a very relaxing and memorable stay with truly lovely people. I highly recommend it without hesitation.

They say you should never judge a book by its cover and that's the case with the Colmar Hotel. Superbly located just around the corner from the train station and only a 3 minute walk, the hotel has a rather bland frontage which luckily defies what is waiting for you inside. The staff here are super attentive and friendly, the rooms are modern and spotless with all mod cons and a few surprises that larger chain hotels just don't provide. The cherry on top has to be the breakfast buffet, not your usual mundane fare but rather a huge selection of everything anyone could ever wish for, including the ability to squeeze your own orange juice if you want to. I would list the choice's but I think it would be more impactful if you discover this treat on your own. This is by far one of the best hotels I have stayed in during my 2 months traveling around the EU and UK. Hats off to the staff who always greet you with a smile which again is not always the case today elsewhere. Great job guys and gals. It's appreciated.

I get it, it's a budget hotel. But. Aircon wouldn't allow anything less than 24C and there's a notice on the window advising "do not open window due to insects". So fix the aircon and put insect blinds on the window! Staff were great, very welcoming and helpful. Oh, and just found out this chain is owned by Goldmam Sachs! So it's now a 1 star

The hotel is very far away the rooms are incredibly small and the breakfast is very insufficient I definitely do not recommend it. The rooms are not cleaned properly either. The only positive thing was the reception staff they were kind and helpful. Apart from that it is a terrible hotel.

Good place to transit during holiday. Rooms are clean, neat, but they stinks. Reasonable price for the quality, Great service. Not so far from Colmar city, giant Carrefour on the corner.

All good except air con set by the hotel to a minimum of 24 degrees

Tips for Choosing the Right Hotel in Colmar

Finding the ideal hotel in Colmar depends on a few practical decisions that many visitors overlook until they arrive. The city is compact, but the difference between a hotel inside the historic center and one just outside can shape your entire experience. Consider how you plan to explore, what time of year you are visiting, and how much you value quiet versus immediate access to the main sights.

Book far ahead for the Christmas market season. From late November to late December, Colmar becomes one of Europe’s most popular festive destinations. Hotels in the center sell out months in advance, and prices rise sharply. If the Christmas markets are your goal, secure a refundable room as early as possible, ideally before September.

Clarify parking before you arrive. Many hotels in the pedestrianized old town do not have private parking. Some have agreements with nearby public garages, while others require you to park outside the center and walk. Always check the exact distance, cost, and whether you can temporarily stop to unload luggage. If you are driving from another part of France or Germany, this detail matters enormously.

Prioritize a hotel inside or within a ten-minute walk of the old town. The true pleasure of Colmar is wandering its lanes early in the morning and late at night. Staying in the center means you can return for a rest, drop off shopping bags, and avoid relying on taxis or buses. The area around the Petite Venise and the Rue des Marchands is especially atmospheric.

Ask about air conditioning and soundproofing. Many of Colmar’s most charming hotels occupy historic buildings with thick walls but small windows and no modern climate control. Summer temperatures can be surprisingly high, and street noise from restaurants and bars can continue late. If you are a light sleeper or visiting in July and August, confirm that your room has effective cooling and double glazing.

Do not assume breakfast is included or worth the price. Hotel breakfasts in Colmar range from simple croissants and coffee to lavish buffets with local cheeses, smoked ham, kugelhopf, and fresh fruit. Sometimes the hotel’s breakfast is excellent value; other times, a nearby boulangerie or café offers a better and cheaper start to the day. Check what is included and compare with local options before adding it to your booking.

Consider a hotel with a restaurant or wine bar. After a day of sightseeing, having a quality place to eat or drink without walking far is a genuine luxury. Several Colmar hotels have excellent restaurants showcasing Alsatian specialties like choucroute, tarte flambée, and locally caught fish. A good on-site wine bar also makes it easier to sample regional Rieslings and Gewürztraminers without worrying about driving.

Colmar rewards travelers who stay long enough to fall into its rhythm. A hotel that feels welcoming at the end of the day, whether through a quiet courtyard, a knowledgeable host, or a supremely comfortable bed, becomes part of the memory. Think about what will make your evenings as enjoyable as your days, and choose accordingly.

No matter which hotel you select, the town itself will do most of the seducing. Its half-timbered facades glow gold in the late afternoon, the canals reflect the sky in shades of blue and pink, and the scent of roasting chestnuts fills the air in winter. With the right base, you can step outside each morning already in the heart of it, ready to discover another hidden corner of this remarkable Alsatian treasure.
