Nestled among the rolling vineyards of the Alsace wine route, Colmar looks like it has been lifted directly from the pages of a fairy tale. With its half-timbered houses, flower-lined canals, and cobblestone lanes, the town offers a visual feast for travelers seeking old-world European charm. Yet, after a long day of exploring the Unterlinden Museum or cycling through the surrounding villages, the body often craves a different kind of nourishment.
Colmar is not just a destination for art historians and wine connoisseurs; it is also a sanctuary for those seeking deep relaxation and wellness. The region’s unique blend of French sophistication and Germanic wellness traditions has given rise to a distinct spa culture. Here, the concept of "thermalism" is taken seriously, focusing on health, recovery, and the pure pleasure of slowing down.
Visitors often find that the best way to balance the indulgence of Alsatian cuisine—think rich tarte flambée and creamy Munster cheese—is to dedicate an afternoon to hydrotherapy and massage. Fortunately, Colmar and its immediate surroundings are home to a variety of exceptional facilities. From modern thermal baths to intimate boutique hotel spas, there is a wellness experience to suit every preference and budget.
When selecting a spa in this region, it is essential to understand the local etiquette. Many high-end facilities require advance booking, especially on weekends when locals also seek refuge from the cold. Additionally, while some venues are family-friendly, others maintain a strict adults-only policy to preserve a tranquil atmosphere.
This guide has been curated to highlight the most reputable and rewarding wellness destinations in the area. Whether you are looking for a quick jet-lag recovery massage or a full day of thermal cycling, you will find an option that meets your needs. We have focused on venues that offer not just treatments, but a complete sensory experience unique to the Alsace.
Below, you will find a curated selection of the finest wellness destinations Colmar has to offer. Each location has been chosen for its commitment to quality, hygiene, and authentic hospitality.

We had such a lovely time at the hotel! Everything about it made for a truly memorable stay. The location was just perfect, the restaurant and breakfast were excellent and the parks around the hotel were a peaceful place to relax and do lots of fun things.
When it was hot, the spa was a real escape, offering a cool and relaxing place to unwind. Our dog especially loved the cosy little terrace outside our room, which made our stay even more special.
What really makes this hotel special is the staff. They were so warm and attentive, especially during breakfast, which made us feel so welcome. And the Entrecôte, it was just so good! a highlight that we will never forget.

An absolutely exceptional hotel, a very short walk from the old town and Petite Venise. The staff was professional and friendly, the included breakfast was excellent. We unfortunately did not get to enjoy the Michelin restaurant, but we did spend a wonderful spa day. The treatments were so-so, but the spa itself is modern and very relaxing. There is also a nice park on one side of the hotel, nice for a walk in the mornings. The staff at the lobby bar were accommodating and kept up with our requests each night while we were catching up after our days of sightseeing.

EXCEPTIONAL in every aspect, staff, cleanliness, facilities, even extending to the quality of bedding and mattress, the Spa everything was perfect and nothing was too much trouble. Rita looked after us and was lovely, very friendly and helpful and went out of her way to help us.
This is a genuinely special hotel, it's difficult to get all aspects to the same very high standard but at this hotel they seemed to have succeeded.
Thank you for a wonderful stay

We loved our 4 night stay here. The rooms are lovely, the staff is very nice, and the spa is so relaxing. We loved the variety of the treats at turn down service, and the cookies in the lobby. The buffet breakfast was nice too and I appreciate that they had an assortment of gluten free items. A relaxing escape, would definitely come back! Very easy to walk to everything in colmar and see the entire region

I had a wonderful stay at this beautiful hotel. The artwork throughout the property is absolutely stunning and gives the hotel such a unique and elegant atmosphere.
What truly made the experience exceptional was the staff. Everyone was so attentive, warm, and welcoming. Honestly some of the nicest hotel staff I have encountered in France.
A truly memorable stay and I would happily return.

Ideally located on the Champ de Mars
We discovered this place today.
A one-hour personalized massage, a truly relaxing experience, a high-quality massage perfectly tailored to our needs.
A sauna, hammam, and a simply magnificent swimming pool…
I highly recommend it.

The hotel is beautiful with a great view and a reasonable price.
The breakfast is not very varied.
Parking costs €25 per day.
The staff are friendly 👍🏻. There is only one negative point: I saw a valet parking driver park a hotel guest's car improperly.

I loved this new experience. The massage therapist was excellent. I highly recommend this spa where complete relaxation is guaranteed. You choose your massage oil at the beginning of your session, and the hygiene is impeccable. I was massaged from head to toe—a real pleasure hidden away in the heart of Colmar. I recommend it to locals. My treatment was called a "Ritual Massage." I hope to return soon.

For my birthday, I received a certificate for a full-body massage, and I was absolutely delighted! The therapist was wonderful, very professional and attentive. The welcome was just as pleasant, with a smiling and warm young woman. The atmosphere was truly relaxing, and after the session, I was offered tea, water, or coffee, which made the experience even more enjoyable. A relaxing break that I highly recommend!

The relaxing massage performed by Manon, a true expert with magic fingers, immersed me in a moment of absolute relaxation. I experienced a truly enchanting interlude and I 100% recommend this spa! Everything was perfect.

I had a voucher for a one-hour relaxing body massage. I put it away and forgot about it. When I found it again, it had expired a little over six months prior. I then contacted the company, which I wasn't familiar with. I asked if it would be possible to redeem the voucher by paying an additional fee equivalent to the price increase. After having to call three times to reach the manager, I was met with a flat refusal. No goodwill gesture whatsoever. The manager told me, "You understand, we know that people with gift vouchers leave it to the last minute. I have a business to run" (that's what I heard)... But what I really understood was that, apparently, expired gift vouchers are a real source of revenue for this company... Paid for, but not used! Admittedly, my voucher had expired, but aware of current price increases, I offered to pay the difference... In my opinion, this company's image is disappointing and, above all, unprofessional. Avoid buying gift vouchers from them!

Great experience, totally worth it!
€20 for 2 hours or €25 for 3 hours, with a well-designed and relaxing space.
The staff are very friendly and even provided towels for free. The sauna show/ritual was the highlight, and the snow area for cooling down is amazing.
(Note: sauna and hammam are nude-only (one of each), not very big but never crowded. If you’re near Colmar, highly recommended! great value for money!

Top ! 💯 Avec un prix raisonnable.😍

3rd time visiting this wonderful place! Just so you know, they only have 1 sauna and 1 hammam, it would be great if they have atleast two.
We have to wait for our turn in the sauna cause its too crowded already..
Overall experience were great. No regrets again.

I go here regularly, and I love it. However, recently I have paid extra (a lot extra) to get massages, in addition to the spa.
I noticed that the girls only massage for 30 min out of the 45 minutes I pay for.
I'm too shy to say something, so hopefully this post won't go unnoticed!
Please massage the full time paid for!! Not cool for your guests and very expensive!!!

If you are a tourist and have the most normal swimming trunks the world has ever seen, don't go there, they won't let you in. They force you to buy some weird shorts for 12€. First place in all the world I was not allowed in with normal swimming trunks.
Plus you need to have flipflops of course, which you have to buy as well if you didn't bring any on your vacation.
Turned around at the doorstep.

Very nice hotel in a calm and romantic place. Big room with beautiful view. Easy parking and reception.
The restaurant is super. We started with an amuse bouche made with fennels and oranges, then we continued with a salmon toast (homemade cured trout salmon!) and the foie gras served with rhubarb compote. It was very good. The main, a vegetarian one composed by asparagus and peas was beautiful to see and very tasty! Super good the dessert as well: a pavlova and a mi-cuit chocolat. The prices are ok for what we ate and where we slept. It's a solid validation for this hotel, I recommend it!!

Amazingly beautiful hotel with spa and incredible breakfast. Very kind and helpful English speaking front desk staff. This is in one of the smaller villages in the region, expect to drive to a grocery store, but it is a lovely top notch place to be based out of to explore Alsace.
Jules Frank★★★★☆
Beautiful small village with lots of hiking options. We booked a basic room which was small, clean and comfortable, although it had a little bit of a damp, mold smell. Not a deal breaker, just an observation. Not enough to be concerned about.
The pool and spa area was amazing. Pool had lots of jets, warm enough to just walk into. The whirlpool wasn’t as hot as one would expect, didn’t stop us staying in there though. 3 different saunas. Loved each one. Lots of options for showers and lovely places to sit after a sauna with ambit music.
We ate dinner there one night. The service was first class. Out waiter was attentive, witty, polite and explained every dish that was put in front of us. The food was good. Breakfast was typical of any European hotel.
Overall, I could recommend and would go back there myself.
Matthew Kruger★★★★★
I've had the pleasure of staying here several times throughout the years. And when I am in the region, I make a point to stop by.
Let me tell you, If you want a real treat and a hidden gem, stay here!
The spa is fantastic especially after a long day's hike! Make dinner reservations and enjoy a wonderful meal in the dining room. (Foie Gras is incredible)
The ambiance of the entire place is delightful. The indoor pool is wonderful both in the winter and the summer.
The rooms are well appointed, Upscale linens and towels.
The family that runs the place is great. Treat yourself to a real secret paradise. Just stay!

We booked with a Travelzoo voucher including a 5-courses gourmand menu for two persons. We took a superior upgrade room, since it was the only one available with surcharge. The room was under the roof so it was quite warm (26° C in early June) and half the room had a roof slope where you'd hit your head if you didn't duck, e.g. on the way to the bathroom. There was a portable AC with a vent that you need to fiddle through an open window. If we could have chosen, we would have taken a smaller room not under the roof.
Apart from that it was clean, staff was friendly and the wellness area was quite good, the breakfast was good too.
The huge let down was with the restaurant and our booking of two menus (with the voucher). Per Mail and in person I made it clear we would take a usual 5-courses gourmand menu and a vegetarian alternative. Since the restaurant had a vegetarian menu on the card I was told, this was not a problem, just not that exciting.
When we entered the restaurant the confusion began. We were told the menu was cancelled. After back and forth with the staff, it appeared the reception clerk at check in somehow cancelled the gourmand menu. A "misunderstanding". We were told we could pick from the standard menu instead. A let down, but we could deal with it.
We ordered the food and the entries were quite good. The main dish from the vegetarian menu came, a noodle soup, and a 3cm chunk of meat was in it. It was beef and I'm relatively sure the soup was a beef broth. We cancelled the rest of the vegetarian menu. The staff didn't seem to care, although our friendly waiter was a bit embarrassed. (It wasn't his fault of cause.) This ruined the evening for us.

We thoroughly enjoyed the excellent meal, as well as the 5 hours at the spa, and what we particularly appreciated was that the spa wasn't crowded.

Excellent experience at Spa de la Colline. The facilities are top-notch, and the privacy of the place is particularly appreciated, especially for enjoying a romantic moment without being mixed in with other guests.
The cocktails are delicious, and the view from the sauna overlooking the vineyards is simply magnificent.
The only slight drawback: the hammam wasn't working, and the indoor pool was a bit chilly.
Coralie Michiko★★★★★
A wonderful discovery while searching for a nature-focused and diverse spa. The setting is beautiful; even just arriving in the parking lot made you feel like you were in the countryside. The welcome was perfect, and the staff was always available if needed.
We really appreciated the variety of activities available at the spa, and the fact that they were often limited to two people was very pleasant.
The only thing we missed a little was soft music while we relaxed inside.
The food at the restaurant was also very good!
In short, we're sure to return as soon as we have the chance.
Katy HUTTE★★★★★
A great place to unwind.
I needed some time to myself and this place was perfect.
Quiet, clean, and very well-equipped.
The staff is very friendly.
Nicole K★★★★☆
We had a lot of trouble finding the place; we wandered around the vineyards and finally, miraculously, found the paved road leading up.
The meager directions on the website were of absolutely no help.
Upon arrival, I mentioned my difficulties to the receptionist, who simply told me: "Just read the signs!"
I would have gladly read them if only I'd seen them! And getting lost in the middle of nowhere was truly amusing, hahaha! They need to work on their customer service and compassion.
We filled out our registration form, and a very pleasant person from the spa quickly gave us all the necessary information, equipped us, and gave us a tour. They were particularly kind and professional.
The place was clean, the facilities seemed very new, the hammam was temporarily out of order, but there was still plenty to do. There weren't many people; I suppose this was intentional so we could move comfortably between the facilities.
At lunchtime, we ate at the restaurant, with only one other couple besides us. We opted for the three-course set menu for €24, a decent meal, nothing more. I had the savory pastry as a starter, which was very good but barely lukewarm inside; the lamb's lettuce was drowning in a thick balsamic vinaigrette. My husband chose the carrot velouté, which was also served more cold than hot. This was followed by pork cheek, a truly flavorful meat, but the mashed potatoes and cabbage were almost cold. Finally, for dessert, a chocolate brownie. For me, brownies are soft and moist, but we were served something very tough and chocolatey, difficult to cut with a spoon.
I loved the house aperitif, Crémant du Bollenberg with geranium syrup—a delight.
However, I ordered sparkling water, and it was practically frozen solid. I had to wait for the ice cubes to melt before I could pour it. Clearly, the refrigerator needs adjusting. The waiter was very polite and efficient (there were only four people serving lunch in the dining room), but personally, I don't think it's very professional to sing during service, even if it clearly reflected a good mood. In my opinion, it's neither the place nor the time.
Back at the spa after lunch, the spa is in the basement, so I had to go back down, but I couldn't find my way. There was a door marked "No Entry," but I didn't go through it, just to be safe. I continued on and found myself near the first hotel rooms. I was starting to turn around when the chambermaid asked me what I was looking for. I replied, "The entrance to the spa." She snapped, "Just read it, it's written on the door!" in a truly awful tone. She's the second person to treat me like an idiot since I arrived!
Photo (blurry, I apologize) shows a sign saying "No Entry" and "Access Reserved for Authorized Persons," so no, ma'am, it doesn't indicate access to the spa!
Anyway, back to the spa, and then in the late afternoon we had our one-hour massage, an energy massage, a magical moment that passed far too quickly. Once again, I can only congratulate and thank the spa staff for the quality of their service, their kindness, their attentiveness, and their care.
Personally, I wasn't impressed with the restaurant, but I will remember that the menu is inexpensive; the price reflects the quality of what is served.
The real highlight of the place is the treatments and the quality of the spa staff.

We bought our Amalfi spa at the Colmar trade fair last year. It wasn't planned, but it was something we'd wanted to do in the future. We had a long discussion with Mickaël, the manager of the La Maison du Spa store in Colmar, about what we wanted, and he understood our needs perfectly. Our spa was installed in May by a very professional and efficient technician. Mickaël then came to check that everything was working properly. Today, we're thoroughly enjoying our new purchase, and Mickaël is always available to answer any questions we may have. If you're looking for a quality spa with excellent after-sales service, I highly recommend them.
Thank you to the entire team at La Maison du Spa.

No regrets whatsoever, and a 1000% recommendation of La Maison du Spa!!!
Initially, we were planning a pool and spa project within two years... but after visiting the European Spa Fair in September 2025, we decided to stop by the spa section. La Maison du Spa immediately caught our eye: a wide selection of spas, a beautiful and high-quality showroom, and ultimately, we completely changed our plans. We left with an order form for a 2R swim spa (we were completely unfamiliar with the concept). Mr. Mickaël Zoghlami (Colmar branch) was incredibly helpful, attentive to our needs and desires, and practically personalized the design. Months later, we are completely satisfied with our project. Delivery was on time and as promised, the equipment was packaged like a jewel, the explanation and follow-up were excellent, and the customer service was pleasant. You can tell that La Maison du Spa truly cares about customer satisfaction, even and especially after delivery.
Complete satisfaction across the board! A few minor tasks still need to be completed, and we're waiting for the cover lifter to arrive for optimal use. Then all that's left is to enjoy it! 🙂 Thank you to La Maison du Spa for your support and for making our dream project a reality!

The spa is truly high-quality, and we are thoroughly enjoying it.
Even after commissioning, the support continues, with helpful recommendations for maintenance and water treatment. We feel supported and never left on our own.
A professional service from start to finish. Thank you, Mickaël.

Upon arrival the room wasn't from this century. It was quaint in design and would have been passable if the carpet wasn't from the late 1900s. I cannot find the room in any image on line or in their reviews, it's as if we were taken to a complete different dimension. I mentioned that it didn't reflect the pictures of the room on the site. Also I'd like to not have asthma attack at 1am due to the carpets clearly being freshly installed in the late 1900s. I was told to get an upgrade for 80 EU. Ok done. We walk to the room and some employees are having a personal conversation in the hallway that can be heard in the room it sounds agressive and not appropriate to have in front of guests. The room is gorgeous, a new junior suite with a village view. I excuse the clipped toenail on the carpet and pick it up with a toilet paper square and move on. We go to the spa, note the one that is included in the now 400 usd a night fee is not the one on the website. That spa is a 60 dollar surcharge. No worries we go down and use the indoor swimming pool and then the hot tub apparently sponsored by Ursula Von Der Leyen's
Green new bill as its neither a "hot" tub more of a "tepid same temperature as the pool", tub, nor does it bubble for more than 3 minutes without requiring reinitiation. Maybe the bubbles are powered by windmills... Ok, not relaxing, we go to the room I make a hot bath to reset. Water slowly pours from a small piston that required 35 minutes to fill up to my navel, but I can't complain because the water is finally hot. After my half body bath I go to pump lotion, aaannnddd the body lotion in our room is not filled. Not sure why our junior suite was neither vacummed or restocked with toiletries but we keep moving forward. Tried to watch TV but the settings are set to burn your retina maximum and the remote doesnt allow you to reduce the brightness on the tv, the home screen and menu settings dont activate. In any case the signal is inconsistent making it impossible to watch anything so we turn it off...Honestly the best feature here is the bar. Great staff at the bar and the bar tender made lovely drinks 🍸. We decided to eat dinner in the local village as I wasn't willing to risk further dissatisfaction at the resort. The village is the second best feature of the resort. Obernai has many other hotel choices. We found a restaurant and walked around and decided the next day we would cut our losses and leave in the morning to fund the local economy which has been nothing less than deserving of my patronage. We left before checkout and declined the breakfast which is added to your bill without request, deciding to tour the village and its offerings instead. During the checkout another attempt to upsell us on the indoor pools was made and I was blamed for not advising about my allergies upon making my reservation from San Diego, CA on their website which has no prompts for such an update. I noted that the three other resorts booked during my vacation sent an email in advance confirming the reservation and asking for any special requests. All except this one. The "spa" is clearly still figuring things out. Small note this kind of bait and switch is illegal in most of the developed world I would expect a class action lawsuit in the future considering the amount of customers that had the exact same experience. I'd be happy to join one of anyone's interested. Definitely believe the negative reviews and read them carefully, the one with the confetti on the bed is so far the best "exhibit A" in a fraud case.

I was here for the night spa as we tried to reserved a place for the day spa but it was fully reserved. However, i found that the night spa was wonderful.
Positive points:
•5 stars for system and services.
•Staffs at the reception and at Yuzu bar were helpful. The information was clearly explained.
•For dinner at Yuzu bar - Well organized system, good explanation about how the dinner is served. However , the drink is not included in the spa package but the price is reasonable.
• Not crowded, i was there on Sunday night. I enjoyed some alone time in every zone. I think there are limited numbers of guests. So everyone can enjoy some calm , alone moment there.
•The jet system work well.
Small advice:
It is important to recheck and refill the cups of water near the sauna zone upstair and in the rest room.
Otherwise all are perfect 😊.

One of the most beautiful if not the most beautiful spa that we have ever experienced and we have tested quite a few around the world. We will come back for sure in the future as it is only about 1 hour drive from our home.

An extraordinary experience, like a trip to Morocco in an afternoon!
I wholeheartedly recommend this place. We received a very warm welcome from the manager and her sister. We were given a time slot very quickly.
From the moment we arrived, the decor immersed us in the ambiance of a luxury hotel hammam in Morocco.
Everything is spotless, and we were treated like royalty.
The hammam is clean, and the warm room is soothing.
We opted for the full-body scrub treatment, so 2 hours in total for 65 euros. The scrub was truly excellent.
Everything is provided (towels, kessa glove, black soap, slippers, and a small bottle of chilled water upon arrival).
At the end of the experience, we were treated to mint tea and small pastries.
I recommend it 100%! The hammam is for women only. It can be booked privately. Thank you again for this relaxing break and haven of peace...we look forward to seeing you in Belfort!!

Honestly, I'm still looking for a negative point… but I haven't found any! Everything was perfect from beginning to end.
If you want to escape, relax, and experience true well-being, I wholeheartedly recommend this place. ❤️ Thank you to the whole team for this wonderful moment. I will definitely be back! 🌺

I just discovered Les Bains d’Orient and was captivated from the moment I arrived. The atmosphere is incredibly soothing, with magnificent mosaic decorations that instantly transport you to the Orient. Every detail has been tastefully considered, and the materials used are of high quality, further enhancing the experience.
You can feel the desire to offer a place that is authentic, clean, and welcoming. It's the ideal place to disconnect from the stresses of daily life and pamper yourself.
I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking for a moment of relaxation and escape. A wonderful opening, and I wish it much success. 👏✨
P.S.: A special mention for the delicious mint tea and cakes offered at the end of the session. A simple yet incredibly thoughtful touch that perfectly completes this oriental journey. 🍵🍪

Great spa! Inexpensive and very pleasant. The quiet aquatic music area is well-designed.
Two negative points:
- Too crowded for the size of the pools.
- We would have liked to enjoy the hammam/sauna area without nudists. A dedicated nudist area would have been more appropriate.
Eric Goomans★★★★☆
Wonderfully relaxing. Nice and warm water. Hardly any chlorine smell, which means people use the toilet properly. Fevered wonderfully. Food and drink prices are expensive though.

Essential Tips for Your Colmar Spa Visit
To ensure your wellness experience is as seamless and restorative as possible, it is helpful to prepare a little before you go. The spa culture in Alsace has specific nuances that differ slightly from other parts of France or neighboring Germany. Understanding these details will help you navigate the facilities with confidence and respect for local customs, ensuring you get the maximum benefit from your visit.
Book Ahead, Especially on Weekends – Colmar is a popular weekend getaway for both French and Swiss travelers. The best treatment slots and private suites are often reserved days or even weeks in advance. Do not rely on walk-in availability at the higher-end hotels.
Understand the Towel and Robe Policy – While some luxury hotel spas provide robes and slippers as part of the entry fee, public thermal baths often require you to bring your own or rent them on-site. Check the venue’s website before you pack to avoid unexpected rental fees.
Respect the Silence Zones – Many Alsatian spas enforce a strict "quiet policy" in the sauna and relaxation areas. Conversations should be kept to a whisper, and mobile phones are almost universally prohibited in wet zones to protect the privacy of guests.
Hydrate Before the Hammam – The combination of Alsace wine tasting and high heat from saunas or steam rooms can lead to dehydration. Drink plenty of water throughout the day before your visit, and take advantage of the herbal tea stations usually provided in the relaxation lounges.
Check for "Nude" Days or Zones – Following the Germanic tradition, some thermal baths and saunas in the region have designated naturist areas or specific days where swimwear is not permitted in the sauna. If this makes you uncomfortable, look for venues that clearly state "swimsuit required" or ask the reception for the schedule.
Allow Time for the "Ruheraum" – The relaxation room is not an afterthought in Alsace; it is a vital part of the therapy. Do not rush out immediately after your massage or soak. Give yourself at least 20 to 30 minutes to lie down, let your blood pressure normalize, and simply drift.
Taking the time to visit a spa in Colmar is more than just a luxury; it is a way to connect with the regional rhythm of life. The Alsatians have long understood that well-being is a balance between hard work, rich food, and dedicated rest. By engaging in this local tradition, you are experiencing a part of the culture that goes beyond the visual beauty of the architecture.
As you step back out onto the cobblestones, wrapped in the lingering scent of eucalyptus or grape seed oil, you will likely find that the town looks even more magical than before. The relaxation you achieve here will provide the energy needed to climb the stairs of the Collegiate Church or to explore one more hidden wine cellar. It is the perfect complement to a truly immersive Alsatian holiday.
