Finding a reliable pharmacy in Colmar is about more than just filling a prescription. Whether you are a resident managing a chronic condition or a traveler suddenly struck by a summer cold while exploring La Petite Venise, you need a place that offers accurate advice, availability of specific medications, and a convenient location. The French pharmacy system is highly regulated and trusted, which means you can generally expect a high standard of care, but not all pharmacies offer the same level of specialized services or extended hours.
Navigating the healthcare landscape in a foreign country can be daunting, especially if there is a language barrier. You might need a specific over-the-counter medication, a parapharmacy product, or even a place to get a quick health check like a blood pressure reading. Knowing which establishments are known for their welcoming staff, multilingual capabilities, or specific stock of homeopathic and natural remedies can save you valuable time and stress.
The historic center of Colmar is dense with pedestrian zones, making accessibility a key factor when you are feeling unwell or need to pick up heavy items. While many pharmacies are clustered around the Rue des Clefs and the Cathedral district, others are situated in the quieter residential neighborhoods or near the main medical centers. Understanding the layout of these options ensures you aren’t walking in circles when you need relief the fastest.
Our evaluation of the best pharmacies in this Alsatian town focuses on practical value. We consider the expertise of the pharmacists, the range of products available—from standard allopathic medicine to veterinary supplies and dermocosmetics—and the operational hours, including night and Sunday rotations. We also prioritize establishments that make an effort to serve the international community, ensuring you can understand dosage instructions and safety warnings clearly.
This guide aims to provide a comprehensive resource for anyone needing pharmaceutical care in Colmar. We have curated a list based on customer feedback, professional reputation, and the breadth of services offered. While every pharmacy in France operates under strict legal and ethical guidelines, the ones listed below stand out for their commitment to patient care and convenience.
Below is a curated selection of the top pharmacies in Colmar, chosen for their service quality, location, and ability to meet diverse health needs.

We visited this pharmacy today because it has a wide range of products. Unfortunately the security guard followed us from the moment we entered until we left and even wanted to check my small crossbody bag. We could not understand if we were treated this way just because we were speaking another language between ourselves instead of French. The situation was quite uncomfortable. I would recommend visiting pharmacies that are more used to tourists.

I am extremely disappointed with this pharmacy. As part of my IVF protocol, a prescription called for two Gonal-f 900 IU pens. However, I was given two Gonal-f 150 IU pens instead.
Such an error on such a sensitive treatment is, in my opinion, unacceptable. In IVF, every injection and every dosage is crucial. Discovering this mistake caused me enormous stress, with the fear that my protocol would be compromised.
I had to return to the pharmacy to have the error corrected. When I returned, I heard that it had been very busy that day and that the medication was expensive. These are not acceptable explanations when it comes to dispensing medical treatment.
Fortunately, the error was corrected, but this does not erase the anxiety this situation caused me. After this experience, I will never set foot in that pharmacy again. I hope that more vigilance will be exercised so that no other patient experiences such a situation.
Dilara Yel★☆☆☆☆
Every time I go to this pharmacy, the wait is incredibly long (even though there are loads of staff in the back doing nothing!). And recently, a pharmacist in his fifties refused to perform an immediate urine test half an hour before closing time! He was also very bitter!
Isabelle BERDAL★☆☆☆☆
The pharmacy was on duty on Good Friday, with only one person serving customers, and it took a very long time! On average, 10 to 15 minutes per person, despite a queue of 15 people waiting! This is completely disorganized and unprofessional!
V V★☆☆☆☆
The on-call pharmacist refused to dispense the medication prescribed by the on-call doctor at the Colmar civil hospitals, because "a pharmacist always has the right to dispense or refuse medication to a patient." A truly remarkable experience at 11:30 PM and a compassionate approach to pain management—in short, avoid at all costs!

Des personnes adorables serviables et respectueuses et surtout à l’écoute je recommande vivement même après mon déménagement j’ai pas pu choisir une autre pharmacie je vais toujours à celle-là

On Saturday, June 20th, my wife had a bad fall and injured her ankle and knee. At Marck Pharmacy, we received an extremely warm welcome and excellent advice: they provided us with a bandage and a knee brace, and advised us to have an X-ray (fortunately, it revealed no fracture). We are very grateful for their help. We highly recommend Marck Pharmacy.

This pharmacy offers a very high level of service. They respond quickly to electronic prescriptions, and the order status is visible on the phone, allowing for pickup as soon as it's ready. Furthermore, the pharmacists are very friendly, always smiling, and offer helpful advice, and the pharmacy's location is very convenient.

The saleswoman with dark hair and glasses didn't even look at me while she was "serving" me, instead talking to another customer. No "goodbye," no "no, sorry, we don't have any more" when I asked if an item was available, just a "no, we don't have any," and she quickly continued her conversation with the other customer. Absolutely no professionalism; this is no way to treat customers. Extremely disappointing.
Mehmet Veli★★★★★
The pharmacy is very well located and easily accessible thanks to the numerous parking spaces available nearby.
I stopped by today, Sunday, June 2nd, and the pharmacy assistant was very friendly and attentive.
I highly recommend it!
Alice Humbert★★★★★
A warm and friendly welcome, caring and attentive healthcare professionals behind the counter! 😃 The advice from the assistant and the head therapist was very helpful, and my son found quick relief with the vegan balm, which has an impeccable formula for children!
Prescription treatments are available, and the advice is relevant.
All this in a bright and well-organized environment! 👌🤩

On my last visit, I noticed that this pharmacy had changed owners! And I was very pleasantly surprised! Renovations are underway to make the pharmacy more inviting and welcoming. I received a very warm welcome, and the new owner is full of helpful advice. Don't hesitate to stop by!

Léa Schaeffer★★★★★
This is the pharmacy I've been going to since I moved to Colmar in 2020.
It's not far from my home, on the same street. It's a pharmacy with a huge selection of everything. This pharmacy offers a wide range of products and services (they even offer telemedicine consultations). I think the ticket system is great. The welcome is very warm! The team is fantastic and very dynamic, both on the phone and in the pharmacy itself.
The only slight problem is that once I went to the pharmacy and they told me it was an insect bite on one of my eyelids and that there was nothing they could do except apply ice, a pharmacist told me. I also thought it was an insect bite. I agree that there's nothing you can do for an insect bite on an eyelid except apply ice. Just to be sure, I called the emergency medical services (SAMU) who told me to have a telemedicine consultation. I had a telehealth consultation at your pharmacy, and it turned out it wasn't an insect bite but the beginning of herpes/shingles in the eye.
I thank the staff at this pharmacy for their kindness and patience with me every time I come in.
Despite this, I'm still giving you 5 stars because you truly deserve them, and I highly recommend your pharmacy to everyone!

I've been coming to this pharmacy for six years now, and I absolutely don't regret my choice. Even though I don't live in Colmar, it will always be my pharmacy!
The staff is always pleasant, very kind, respectful, and attentive. Thanks to them, I'm able to easily manage my treatment and other medications when I'm sick.
The ticket system at the entrance is truly brilliant: it prevents someone from cutting in front of you and ensures impeccable organization. A top-notch team and consistently flawless service!

Had an emergency in the evening and needed to go to a pharmacy that was open. This one was advertised in Google as open 24h on a Saturday. When I arrived it was closed. Thank God, the hospital was very close and I could go and solve my issue. Please, change the opening hours in Google.

As a customer for three months, I've noticed a lack of consistency in the information provided.
I asked to have my blood pressure checked. The pharmacist told me this service wasn't available and referred me to my family doctor.
However, this service is explicitly mentioned on your website as being offered by your pharmacy.
This inconsistency between the information on the website and what I received in the pharmacy is problematic.
I hope this situation can be clarified in the future.
Edit 1: I would like to clarify that I received no recommendations and had no other symptoms, as I assume the person who answered me didn't check your website (I've attached a screenshot).

A professional and attentive team, always ready to answer my questions patiently and precisely. Doesn't deserve one star. I went there during the night shift for an emergency, but the woman didn't consider it an emergency. She refused to accept my social security card and wanted me to pay even though I had a prescription. Shameful! She gave me my change and slammed the door in my face. Twenty seconds later, she turned off the light, and I think I'll go back to getting some sleep.

Friendly, welcoming staff who gave good advice.
I had a prescription from my dermatologist for a product from the SVR range, which cost €37, but I later bought it at a pharmacy for €17.
€20 difference is a steep price to pay.

A very warm welcome, always good advice, especially regarding herbal products. One small drawback: the prices have really gone up. A bit excessive. 😉
Essential Tips for Choosing the Right Pharmacy in Colmar
Selecting the right pharmacy involves more than just walking into the closest storefront. By understanding a few key aspects of how French pharmacies operate, you can ensure you receive the most efficient and personalized care possible during your time in Colmar.
- Understand the "Garde" System: Pharmacies in France rotate for night and Sunday service. If you need medication outside standard hours (usually 9 AM to 7 PM), look for the sign posted on the door of any closed pharmacy. It will list the "Pharmacie de Garde" currently on duty. You may need to ring a bell for service after hours.
- Look for the Green Cross: While it may seem obvious, a flashing or illuminated green cross usually indicates the pharmacy is currently open and operational. In the winding streets of the Old Town, this visual cue is often the fastest way to spot a pharmacy from a distance.
- Check for Parapharmacy Sections: If you are looking for high-end skincare, baby supplies, or nutritional supplements, seek out larger pharmacies with a dedicated "Parapharmacie" area. These spaces allow you to browse non-prescription items freely without waiting in line at the counter.
- Ask for Generic Medications: French pharmacists are legally required to offer generic alternatives when available unless your doctor specifies "non substituable" on the prescription. Don’t be shy to ask about generics; they are strictly regulated and can save you significant money if you are paying out of pocket.
- Utilize the Pharmacist’s Expertise: In France, the pharmacist is a highly trained medical professional. For minor ailments like insect bites, mild allergies, or colds, you can often skip the doctor’s office and consult the pharmacist directly. They are authorized to recommend and dispense specific treatments for minor conditions.
- Have Your Prescription Ready: If you are visiting from outside the EU, a local prescription may not be valid. However, if you have a European prescription, it is generally accepted. Ensure you have your physical prescription or a digital copy, and always carry your health insurance card (Carte Vitale) or EHIC/GHIC if applicable.
Whether you are stocking up on travel essentials or managing a specific health requirement, the pharmacies in Colmar are equipped to provide high-quality service. The city’s blend of traditional Alsatian hospitality and modern medical practice ensures that you are treated with care and professionalism. Taking the time to locate a pharmacy that fits your specific needs—be it homeopathy, veterinary care, or late-night access—will make your stay in this beautiful region safer and more comfortable.
