12 Best Hotels in Annecy

Annecy is often called the “Venice of the Alps,” but that nickname only tells half the story. Set on the shores of one of Europe’s cleanest lakes and framed by dramatic mountain peaks, the city offers a rare blend of outdoor adventure, historic charm, and refined Savoyard hospitality.

Choosing the right place to stay shapes the rhythm of your entire trip. A hotel near the lake gives you sunrise views and easy access to water activities, while a hideaway in the old town puts cobbled lanes, canals, and restaurants right outside your door.

For travelers who want to explore the surrounding Alps, staying slightly outside the historic center can offer better value, quieter nights, and easier parking. Each neighborhood has a distinct character, from the lively pedestrian streets of Vieille Ville to the calm residential edges near Lake Annecy’s southern shore.

The best hotels in Annecy combine authentic alpine architecture with modern comfort. Many are family-run establishments where personal service and local knowledge elevate a simple overnight stay into something memorable.

Because Annecy is a year-round destination, your ideal hotel may change with the season. Summer visitors often prioritize lake access and air conditioning, while winter guests look for cozy lounges, easy road access to ski resorts, and hearty breakfasts before early departures.

This guide focuses on hotels that consistently deliver excellent location, comfort, cleanliness, and value. Whether you are planning a romantic weekend, a family holiday, or a solo hiking trip, the following selection covers a range of budgets and styles without sacrificing quality.

Our stay at ibis Annecy was nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment we arrived, the experience exceeded all our expectations. The view from our room was simply out of this world, absolutely breathtaking and easily one of the highlights of our trip. Waking up to such a beautiful view made the stay feel truly special, and honestly, every penny spent was worth it. A huge thank you to the entire ibis Annecy team. I genuinely cannot thank them enough for the warmth, kindness, and incredible hospitality they showed us throughout our stay. Everyone was extremely helpful and went above and beyond to make sure we had the best possible experience. What touched us even more was the cute and lovely personalised message they left for us. It was such a thoughtful gesture and really showed the level of care the team puts into making guests feel welcomed and appreciated. It’s not often that a hotel leaves such a lasting impression, but ibis Annecy certainly did. Beautiful views, wonderful hospitality, thoughtful gestures, and an unforgettable experience. A heartfelt thank you to the entire team, you made our stay truly memorable. We would absolutely love to come back again! ❤️

I generally think of Ibis hotels as very utilitarian, but my experience at this hotel was so comfortable and pleasant that I have changed my mind. The room is basic but very comfortable, with all the essential amenities. Importantly, with 98F miserable heat outside, the AC in the room worked beautifully. The staff are super helpful, and the reception area is friendly, with infused water, fruit, macaroons for the guests to enjoy. The location is excellent--you basically walk out of the hotel into a courtyard that spills you right into the all the happenings of Old Town Annecy. And it was an easy walk to the train station despite the heat. Highly recommended!

Location is excellent but the rooms are small and super hot. And this was despite the north facing room in early April. I would not like to know how it is in warmer months. We had to keep the window open to get some fresh air, which meant having to deal with street noice and cars. Location is excellent though and parking convenient. Breakfast was ok for one night stay but would recommend opting out in case of a longer stay and instead having a likely much nicer breakfast in the nearby cafe’s.

Great location with parking next door. Rooms are clean and have air conditioning. Overall a pleasant 1 night stay in the beautiful Annecy

The hotel is situated next to the old town of Annecy which offers shopping and dining opportunities. The lake is not far away and easy to reach by walking. The rooms cozy and hotel offers a broad choice for breakfast. The bar offers snacks and small dishes in the evening. It is perfect for tourists and business travellers.

Lovely hotel on the edge of the lake. Has a great restaurant bar area overlooking the lake . Lovely dinner served and surprisingly popular with people from outside the hotel. Only about 30 minute flat walk into town which couldn’t be nicer with lots of shade and plenty to see along the way. Recommended. Limited on site parking, but a couple of options close by.

Asked to cancel my stay and they proceeded to agree on it. While making the booking their website did not display any cancellation policy. Afterwards I found my card being charged and when asked they said they only charged for one room instead of two when I had only made a booking for one room. These people are unreasonable and have made unauthorised use of my card. Be careful. Trying to dispute this. I have made many tentatives to explain the situation and get them to understand that they should refund the money. They are not willing to listen.

We had a dinner in the restaurant outside. Food and service were nice. Don’t forget to reserve the table in advance.

The most fabulous restaurant that well worth a visit! The ambience and views are just lovely, the food is exceptional and the service really special. The team go above and beyond to make sure everything is perfect for you. We were looked agree by Nicholas who spoke perfect English and went above and beyond for us. My partner and his sister are coeliacs and they both went out of their way to be helpful, informative and adapt dishes! If we are in LA again, we would definitely come back. Thank you for a wonderful night! 😊

Lakeside hotel. Clean. Modern facilities. Comfortable beds. Nice staff. Busy road between it and the lake but the noise is not intrusive. Lovely views of the lake. Busy restaurant and bar. Good good. Limited vegetarian options. Large outside shaded area. Balcony rooms are great - rather small for a longer stay. Room 7 has a partial lake view. Breakfast was ok - maybe some fresh fruit? What about some non-dairy milks?

Very centrally located, you can walk to the station, Lake Annecy and to the old town quite easily from the hotel. The gentleman who welcomed me was super friendly, gave me so many good recommendations where to go etc. Especially his tips to go to Talloires was so worth it. I had a peaceful, relaxing and private time at the plage in Talloires, where most of the visitors were locals.

We spent two nights at this hotel celebrating our 30th anniversary, and we were very disappointed. This place could easily be called a hostel. There are two main issues that completely ruined our experience. First, there is no elevator, so you have to carry your suitcases up a steep staircase. Second, the breakfast costs €12 per person and is absolutely not worth the money—there’s a great bakery café just around the corner with much better options. The only thing that was good were the apples. The first night, we could hardly sleep because the room was unbearably stuffy. The next day, we asked to change rooms and were told it would be ready in an hour and a half. We came back after two hours just to change, but were told to return again in another hour. The organization is very poor. Considering that I informed the hotel in advance that we were celebrating a special occasion, it would have been nice to receive at least a small gesture—such as a better room, especially since we did not book the cheapest option. Overall, a very disappointing experience.

Pretty run down place , close to the train station . Broken shower door in our room , so everything gets wet. Ceiling in the bathroom is about to fall down. Bed is out of level so you keep rolling to the other side. Uppside is ; Close to the old town and some restaurants around with normal prices. Ok parking agreement with the garage around the corner.

perfect for our 1 night stay in Annecy. We flew into GVA and decided to break up the trip to Val Disere by staying 1 night in Annecy. Hotel des Alpes was perfect for our scenario. Location was great as we could walk around everywhere. Rooms were perfect for the class/price. No issues there. The only thing to note is that you have to go up a flight of stairs to get to the reception. There is a lift from there to go up, but, it's tiny and can only fit 1 person at a time. We used it for our luggage, which worked out for us. Can't beat this hotel for price, location, and cleanliness !
Walt Wood★☆☆☆☆
This hotel is a horrible place to stay. The service is terrible, the hotel is filthy, and the rooms tiny and dirty. Our shower didn’t work, and hotel staff was indifferent to it. There was no late check out and no place the keep our luggage while we waited for our train. This isn’t even a 1 star place. Stay away.

Great location with very nice and welcoming staff. Rooms are small (expected in Europe) but were clean and the bed was very comfortable. Also, it was very quiet - we only heard the occasional door close. AC worked like a charm. And breakfast was great with fresh baguette, croissants and jams!

I had an amazing two night stay here! The staff was so welcoming and helpful, they recommended restaurants, stores and things to see around the area. They also helped me rent a bike to go explore around the lake! The hotel is right in the middle of the town, and super conveniently located for a visit if you are interested in shopping around locally!! Everyone was super friendly and all the staff went above and beyond! As a solo female traveller this was the perfect hotel, I felt very safe and taken care of and the breakfast and the beef bourguignon were delicious!! Thank you so much!

Great location. I really loved how easy it was to walk anywhere in the city from the hotel. Joanna was great! She speaks so many languages and gave me useful information. Will be coming back with my family for sure another year!

The location is phenomenal so close to the train station, lake and centre of town. The staff are amazingly friendly, helpful and available when needed. Breakfast was decent, well catered for, a cold continental breakfast, fresh bean coffee machine, juices, cereal, cold meats, breads, toast, cheese, yogurts etc. No lift in the hotel. We had room 18. It's a corner room so there is a dual aspect with views of a canal from both windows. Bed: was OK but probably time that it had a decent mattress installed. Tea and coffee making facilities was good. TV - the remote was almost bigger than the screen of the TV. Bathroom: was a joke. How they can get away with how they've arranged the bathroom is questionable. A toilet which is wedged between the wall and screen of the shower. With a loo paper holder in the way was ridiculous. The floor in the bathroom is cracked and lifting, looks cheap and nasty. The shower's water pressure was poor and the temperature was 'warm' at best. I'm glad that we only had 1 night here.

In terms of location, I give Atipik Hotel full marks, 5 minutes from train station and 5 mins from the beautiful lake . Lots of Coffee shops and restaurants to choose from. Location is especially important as it is my first time in Annecy. For the team, I want to give 6 stars. They are super helpful, energetic and friendly. Special shoutouts to Martin who is my super hero. I was not expecting the cold weather, Martin moved me to a warmer room immediately after I feel the original room was too cold. I read some previous previews regarding the noise level but it is the nature of any historic building. I lived in a Victorian house and I can hear my neighbours all the time. It is absolutely not an issue. I highly recommend Hotel Atipik to anyone who wish to explore Annecy.

Good, clean hotel. It's quite far from town, but the area is a lot quieter, and it's so close to the lake. An extra chair would've been nice. There were 2 windows in the room, and 1 didn't have curtains. The shutters were inadequate for blocking out light, so sleep quality was affected. There's a pretty outdoor area that we didn't venture into.

Unfortunately I didn't have the best experience here, photos online do not give a true representation of the rooms. Ours needed alot of renovation. Plugs did not work, floor was falling apart, no headboard, no lighting only bedaide lamps, insecure main building door and wear and tear in general. The location is great, right by the lake and a short walk (20-30mins) to the main center. Staff are friendly and check in is smooth with free parking. I would however probably chose a different hotel if I visit again.
Jack Scotton★★☆☆☆
Reception staff nice, car park secure and plenty of room. Location is great. Room quite small and the bed is terrible for two people, barely slept, was too small and just generally uncomfortable. Maybe fine if you’re travelling solo. Doable as an overnight stop but wasn’t worth the £100 a night price, would be better forgoing the great location for somewhere with a better bed.
Karolina S★★★★★
The location is fantastic. The staff is very helpful. Breakfast has a wide selection, and can be enjoyed in the garden with a beautiful view of the mountains. The rooms are small but clean. Free parking.
Daryna P.★☆☆☆☆
I stayed in this hotel for one night. It was a surprise to get a room with a shower that did not have any walls or protection against water and would be impossible to use. On top, the floor was with wholes all over the room. I do not think I’ve ever had such a horrible experience before. And the coffee capsules with a second chance of usage. :)) It looked very different from the images on the website. Worth mentioning that the room was reserved a year in avance and fully paid. Looks like it was a mistake as loyalty is not appreciated here and they throw at you their “best” room as a nice surprise since it’s paid. Be careful!

Very conveniently placed for the old town and the railway station. Very comfortable but you might describe the rooms as "bijou". Super friendly staff, Geoff was most helpful and very understanding of two rather grumpy visitors who had fallen to Google Map's tricks. It has a whole section of town that it WILL NOT navigate you to, including the street right outside the hotel, which you absolutely CAN drive to. Ignore the directions and read the map, you'll get there.

I had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The location is excellent and very convenient. The rooms are lovely, cozy, and exceptionally clean. What truly made the experience special, though, was the staff, they are incredibly warm, sincere, and always ready to help. I would definitely recommend this place!🌸💖
Elif Su★★★★★
I had a great stay, the staff was very kind and helpful. The room I booked was a bit small but it was more than enough for one person; and it was very clean which was the most important thing for me. Annecy is a small town anyway but the hotel is very close to the train station. My only concern was the safety as they request you to leave your key to the reception every time you leave. Somebody else could say my room number and access & I don't think anyone would notice.
Cassandra West★★★★☆
I stayed in Hotel du Nord due to its proximity to a French exam I was taking and so location was perfect. The service was excellent, the people on reception were warm and helpful. The rooms are great and nicely decorated. It was a great price for the location. I would skip the breakfast. There's cafes close by with better for cheaper. One star lost because I would have done a better job on the bathroom clean, but I am picky. ☺️

We had a wonderful stay! The staff were exceptionally kind and went above and beyond, especially Khalifa (evening shift) and Iveta (day shift), who helped us store our baby’s medicine and food in the fridge and freezer. The location is excellent, within walking distance of the main attractions, the train station, and a parking garage, with a nice discount for hotel guests. Overall, we were extremely happy with our stay and highly recommend this hotel!

The location is super great. Near bus station. Bed is very comfortable. Staff were also helpful and polite. Caution: There are four floors but the elevator goes to only third floor. Not good if you have heavy luggage.
Kirstin Marsh★★★★★
Staff very welcoming. Great location, a couple of minutes walk from the bus station, very central. Beds extremely comfortable, we slept so well. Good shower too. Rooms are clean, not huge but totally adequate. Good breakfast though I would say it was a little bit cramped in the breakfast room it was manageable, and they offered amazing choice in a very compact space.
Monika Fehily★☆☆☆☆
The receptionists are very nice people. Iveta ,Olesa and the young man from Cape Verde are amazing making up for the badly managed dirty and smelly of fungus and mold hostel. Please don't book . The female at the kitchen is also possibly a cleaner as well . She is ignorant to the customers, has no customer service or people skills and did not clean our room for 3 nights out of 4 nights. It was our third time in Annecy and we will come back not to this place again.
Brent Iverson★★★☆☆
The beds are a good size which is not usual. But the TV was busted. The air conditioning doesn't work well. I'm still sweating after running it for 3.5 hours.

Great location. Updated hotel, the decor is lovely. It was very comfortable to stay here while in Annecy. Breakfast is 14 euros and you have to boil your own eggs. There is free tea and coffee available from 1pm-9pm. Walking distance to the bus and train station and also a short walk to the canals. Lots of shopping and restaurants nearby.
Sarah Lack★★★☆☆
Rooms small and basic but clean and well refreshed. Beds were comfortable. Our room was at the rear, facing the station. No water, tea or coffee facilities in rooms. Good central location with parking available if reserved. Reception staff were not very friendly on arrival or during stay. Email advising us that Google directions to hotel are wrong, would have been helpful if it had arrived in time rather than towards the end of our stay.
Jonathan Latham★★★★☆
Lovely place to stay if your visiting Annecy. Nice hotel excellent breakfast with good quality coffee and other hot drinks free all day. The staff are really helpful. Key point is probably the location. Very close to Annecy centre perfect spot.

Great hotel, excellent location to walk to main attractions, 2 blocks from Train Station, Great breakfast and very quiet to sleep. The only problem it was a blonde lady in the reception, very arrogant as others commented during breakfast too. All the rest of personnel, very nice and welcoming.
Benoit Ederle★★★★★
This hotel is almost too good to be true. The location is amazing, only 5 minutes from the train station and 10 from the shore of Lake Annecy. Behind the hotel is a nice public sitting area that is very quiet and has beautiful gardens. The room was clean and very spacious with modern amenities. The staff are extremely helpful, they had no problem with me borrowing the bar fridge to store perishables. I would always stay here again if I find myself in Annecy!

Just arrived and have been made very welcome. We came earlier to find out where the hotels private parking was-€11 a night , which are happy with as we are carrying electric bikes. The parking is secure, but wasn't mentioned as to how to get to it on our booking.com information. They gave a lovely garden where you can sit and order drinks from reception. Free WiFi in the hotel.

The hotel is an oasis in Annecy. It’s in a great and peaceful location, with a cozy garden where you can enjoy breakfast or have a glass of wine. The breakfast is very good and plentiful. The staff are extremely friendly and offer great tips on restaurants, cafés, and excursions. You can also rent bikes here. We cycled around the lake, and it was one of the best days of our vacation.

A fantastic located charming hotel just 15mins walk to annecy old town but just 150m to the lake . Difficult to find parking hotel has very limited parking space. The room is ok but the toilet is extremely small . There is supermarkets and eateries all walking distant and the location of the hotel made it really good.

Spouse and I arrived at the hotel and were informed that our room was two twin beds, although we requested a DOUBLE OR QUEEEN SIZE bed. The male receptionist informed us that all rooms were sold out and nothing he could do, although our reservations were done over a month in advance. He next commented that it was what we requested, and we should speak with our conference organizer –as we were in Annecy for a conference. And again we corrected him to say we requested a double bed or queen size bed. He reiterated that there was nothing he could do, the hotel was sold out. The room was cold, and it was raining outside. When we tried the heat mode, the air conditioning would turn on lowering the temperature—we thought that was weird, but did not want a confrontation with the front desk agent and decided to wait until the next day. The next day we reported the problem with the heating and air conditioning unit, and the same agent was in attendance, and informed us that the hotel does not offer heat, only air-conditioning. We were advised to turn on the towel heater for getting heat into the room. We also requested an iron and ironing board for our room, but we were informed that there was only one of each to be shared for all of the hotel guests, and could only be used in the hallway on the ground level. We thought it odd that for a hotel with 52 rooms, with more than 52 guests would only have one iron and ironing board. Breakfast was the same daily. If you were not part of the conference attendees, who vacated the cafeteria by 8:30 am, food remains were sparse, as replacements were not made until about 9:00am, given that there was only one available food attendant. In addition, there was only one elevator, quite small, about 3 by 4 feet, and you have to climb 4-5 steps with your luggage to access the elevator. Although the hotel is in a great location, very close to the Lake, It falls short of comfort.

It was my first solo trip and i enjoyed my time at hotel catalpa. The staff were nice and friendly and my room was so cute and cozy. I stayed at Moxy for 2 nights and absolutely loved it here! The service was excellent from the moment I walked in, right until I checked out 🙂 I was pleasantly surprised to find my room had been upgraded. Everything was clean, the bed and duvet was comfortable, and housekeeping was excellent. Thank you to the Moxy Annecy crew, I only wish I had stayed for longer!
Karthik Muralidharan★★★☆☆
The Moxy Annecy is a very well located hotel with very limited service. We tried figuring out how to order room service, which had to be done through the Marriott app which did not work one bit. We would have had to go to the reception which we decided to spare ourselves from. This is more a fault on Marriott than the specific Moxy but the lack of alternative options, such as an in-room phone or communication device, was rather baffling. The room itself is spacious for Europe. Amenities can be requested at the reception which was useful for our stay. The elevator is very slow and inefficient, so just make sure to account for that if time is an issue. The staff was very friendly and well versed in English, which made communication very easy. They have a Bar and restaurant in the hotel, which provided service until decently late. We didn’t try the breakfast as it looked rather uninspired. Close to no local specialities and very limited hot options if you’re a vegetarian. It’s a breakfast for the sake of having one. I suggest going to one of the many nearby brunch spots which serve a much more enticing breakfast for a similar if not cheaper price. We missed on booking an in house parking slot, but the staff helped us to figure out alternate options of which there is one open air and one covered parking area. We parked at the open air slot which was very convenient and barely a minute walk from the hotel entrance. The train station is also very close by to this hotel, I’d say about 5-10 minutes if walking at a leisurely pace.

Great location, very friendly team working there. I love Moxy brand for how easy going it is. I stay often at Moxy, whenever I plan a lot of activities and only need the hotel for sleep. This one is pretty cool. The only thing to be aware of - no safety box in the room (at least there was none in mine). Otherwise everything was great - 10 min walk to Old Town.
Eric Ewing★★★★★
This place eases awesome! The front desk attendants were always very nice and the welcoming drinks were an added perk. The rooms are relatively small (part of the design of being a social hotel) but nice. No fridge or safe, so keep that in mind if you need them. It's a relatively short walk to Old Town Annecy.
Rob Macdonald★★★★★
We spent two nights here in Annacy. This was one of our favorite towns we stayed in. Moxy was the hotel for the two nights. It was a good spot, about a ten minute walk to the main center on old town. The breakfast in the morning was very good. Our room was good, bed comfortable, and they had good parking available at a reasonable price. They also had activities going on in the main level, we were exploring the town and didn't get a chance to participate. A good spot.

Our room was basic but had everything we needed. It was clean, though it could use a bit of TLC — especially with some paint touch-ups and small repairs around the room. The bed was comfortable, and the bedding was clean, but I wish there had been an extra cushion. The one provided was very large and not comfortable to sleep on. The small kitchen was well equipped and had everything we needed to prepare a quick meal, which was very convenient. The bathroom was clean with good water pressure in the shower. The only downside was a very strong and strange smell that lingered in the bathroom, which was quite unpleasant. We also reported to reception that one of the wall bedside lights wasn’t working and needed a new bulb as it was keep flickering , but unfortunately, this was never fixed during our seven-day stay. It felt like there wasn’t much attention from the staff to guest requests, which was disappointing. Overall, the hotel felt more like student accommodation or a residential unit than a typical hotel, but it was quiet at night. The location was good — about a 25-minute walk to the old town and just 10 minutes to local bakeries and supermarkets.
JC★★★☆☆
Clean but old. That can make the place seems run down. It's well equipped with kitchenette and a fridge, that's great. Be aware there are only 6 free parking always full, otherwise you pay 3 euro for the night for another parking. There was unfortunately a sewer smell in the bathroom. Overall, it was a good place for a short stay, staff was nice. Bed too soft for us.

Clean hotel, but might need some refurbishment soon. Best quality/price ratio during a busy weekend in Annecy (many accommodations full). Super friendly staff and great breakfast. Unfortunately, there were issues with the aeration as we kept getting cigarette smell (and it was not coming from the hallway nor outside our window). Reception staff seemed to be aware of the problem but didn't show any sign of care.
Anastasiya Prychynenko★★★☆☆
The rooms are quite small considering that it is not just a bedroom but also a living room with kitchen. It is well equipped though and the WiFi is surprisingly good. The location is not the best if you're interested in sightseeing. Besides, the nearest bus stop is about 500 meters away. My room was facing the highway and there was no air-conditioning, so it got really noisy when I opened the window looking for some fresh air. And my neighbors were constantly smoking out of their window. Overall, not bad for the price but totally not for tourists or romantic weekend escapes

+ Room with kitchenette, kitchen utilities, fridge, microwave. + Big room. - No airconditioning. -We had to clean the kitchen ourselves & bring the garbage out ourselves. -We had to pay extra for the parking. -30min walk from the city centre of Annecy. -The receptionist had a French-English accent which I didn't understand too well.

Tips for Choosing the Right Annecy Hotel

A little planning before you book can make a big difference in how much you enjoy Annecy. These practical tips will help you match the right hotel to your travel style, budget, and itinerary, so you spend less time commuting and more time experiencing the city.

  1. Decide between lake, old town, or outskirts. Lakefront hotels offer views and convenience but come at a premium. Old town stays put you in the heart of the action but can be noisy at night. Outskirts provide better value, free parking, and quieter sleep.

  2. Check parking before you book. Many hotels in the historic center do not have on-site parking. If you are driving, confirm whether the hotel offers a private lot, a discounted public garage nearby, or free street parking. This can save you €20–30 per day.

  3. Book early for summer and the Annecy Festival. July and August are peak season, and hotels fill up months in advance. The Annecy International Animation Film Festival in June also creates a surge in demand. For the best rates and room choices, reserve at least three to six months ahead.

  4. Look for lake views on higher floors. If you are paying extra for a lake view, request a room on an upper floor. Lower-floor lake-view rooms may have obstructed sightlines from trees, rooftops, or promenade foot traffic.

  5. Consider public transport if staying outside the center. Annecy has a reliable bus network and flat, scenic cycling paths along the lake. Staying in areas like Sevrier or Annecy-le-Vieux can be more affordable, and you can reach the old town in under 20 minutes by bus or bike.

  6. Prioritize air conditioning in summer. Not all older alpine hotels have air conditioning. If you are visiting between June and September, confirm that your room includes climate control, especially if it faces west or south.

Annecy rewards travelers who slow down and settle into the local rhythm. The right hotel becomes more than a place to sleep—it is a base for early morning lakeside walks, afternoon swims, and long dinners under the alpine sky.

Take time to compare your shortlist against your actual itinerary. A beautiful room far from the places you want to visit will cost you time and energy, while a well-located, comfortable base can turn a good trip into an unforgettable one.
