12 Best Halal Restaurants in Cannes

Cannes may be synonymous with red carpets and luxury yachts, but its culinary landscape is far more diverse than the champagne-and-caviar clichés suggest. For Muslim travelers and food lovers who prioritize halal dining, the city offers a surprisingly rich tapestry of flavors. From slow-cooked Maghrebi tagines to contemporary Lebanese mezze and even halal-friendly French fusion, the options are both abundant and delicious.

Navigating a new city’s halal scene can be a challenge, especially in a destination known for its high-end French gastronomy. You want to know that the meat is genuinely certified, the environment is welcoming, and the quality justifies the price. Fortunately, Cannes has seen a steady rise in authentic eateries that cater specifically to halal dietary requirements without compromising on taste or atmosphere.

The beauty of the halal dining scene in Cannes lies in its authenticity. Many of the best spots are family-run establishments tucked away in the lively neighborhoods of Le Suquet, Prado, or near the Marché Forville. Here, recipes have been passed down through generations, offering a taste of North Africa and the Levant right in the heart of the French Riviera.

Whether you are looking for a quick, satisfying shawarma after a day at the beach, or a refined sit-down dinner featuring grilled meats and fresh salads, there is something for every palate and budget. The focus is often on high-quality ingredients, fragrant spices, and generous hospitality that makes you feel instantly at home.

This guide cuts through the guesswork by highlighting the most reliable and celebrated halal restaurants in the city. Each venue has been selected for its commitment to halal standards, its reputation among locals, and the overall dining experience it provides. You can eat with confidence, knowing these spots prioritize both your dietary needs and your enjoyment.

From sizzling brochettes to delicate pastries, prepare to discover a side of Cannes that goes beyond the tourist trail. Here is our curated selection of the best halal dining experiences the city has to offer.

This is one dining option you can try in Cannes, but there are a few downsides that left me disappointed. First, there were three to four staff members standing at the cash register whose only job seemed to be distributing food. They don’t take orders—you’re required to place your order on a digital screen. However, the screen doesn’t have an English option, and when I asked for help, they were unwilling to assist and didn’t speak English, making the process very frustrating. I ended up using ChatGPT to translate the menu just to figure out what to order. As for the food, it’s mediocre at best—nothing special unless you’re really hungry or craving something fatty. While there are plenty of menu options, you’ll need to be able to read in Spanish or French to understand them, which is baffling considering the number of tourists who visit this place.
Sarah★★★☆☆
The chicken and fries were too oily and lacked crispiness, which made the meal less enjoyable overall. Service was okay, but the food quality didn’t meet expectations. Hopefully this can be improved.
Yvonne Ng (vnstr)★★★★☆
I had roasted chicken here. It’s generally value for money and pretty good. Wouldn’t recommend anything with gravy though, they are too heavy.

Food is very delicious, so is the service. Nice restaurant!
Mustafa Alparslan★☆☆☆☆
The food wasn't very good—perhaps it just didn't suit our taste. We ordered a salad, but it was inedible. The ordering screen was only in French, which made things difficult; there was no English option. The staff member at the register said they would look into it but never did. The atmosphere wasn't great; it was crowded and felt like a third-rate fast-food joint. In short, we didn't like it. I don't recommend it—don't go there.

Had a wonderful night with out friends. Food is good and the service was friendly. The atmosphere was relaxing and romantic. They even offered us a really sweet Moroccan tea to end the night. Baby and pet friendly too. Definitely would recommend 🥰

We popped in without a reservation and we were greeted with smiles and a quick table arranged for five. The food was amazing from the steak, to the fish, salmon, pizza & chicken burger. The bonus was the owner was a Vin Diesel look alike 🙂 As it was a family run business the customer service was outstanding 😊

An amazing fully halal restaurant in Cannes. The decor and atmosphere of the restaurant adds to the whole experience. There is a good selection of food to choose from and the portion sizes are very good. The mojito was refreshing without being too bitter. This place is a great alternative to avoid the crowds in central Cannes, but still not too far from the centre. The staff are friendly and were patient with our indecisiveness when it came to our seats lol. Thank you again 🙂

Really cute and stylish restaurant, lovely staff and great food. Very relaxed. No alcohol though (not a criticism but just to make people aware!)

Absolutely love this restaurant! Great food, great service with a smile, generous portions, delicious food. I visited two days in a row! I could not leave Cannes without trying the Pistachio Tiramisu! Loved every bite. New restaurant with indoor and al fresco dining! Beautiful decor. So much color and texture. You know it's a high quality restaurant by the quality of the menu! Haha. My point is that they have not missed any detail to offer an exceptional dining experience. I highly recommend it. They do birthday celebrations with class - no off-key servers singing. I was impressed with the birthday music and sparklers served with dessert. I definitely want to come back for my birthday! Highly recommend it all!

Food was delicious and very cool ambience! We got the couscous with lamb and chicken, and couscous with skewers… both were great! And the broth with vegetables that came with it was amazing. Also, get the mint tea after dinner… so tasty!
Robert Gray★★★★★
I hesitate to recommend Le Maghreb because it's a long-time favorite. As it's slightly off the beaten track, it's frequented largely by couples and families from the neighborhood - and for regular tourists who can't wait to come back to Cannes so they can enjoy the fabulous authentic fare and homey welcome. I've been eating here for years, as often as I can, and am always delighted and reassured by the unvariangly tasty, copious, authentic and reasonably-priced dishes - and the warm welcome extended to all. But please, don't tell anyone else. If word gets out, there'll be lines all the way down the street. PS You'll insist you're full - but it would be a mistake to pass up the wonderful deserts and a refreshing mint tea.

This restaurant is a shame in the name of Lebanese food. I have had Lebanese food in many parts of the world and have been to some fantastic Lebanese restaurants in France. THIS IS NOT ONE OF THEM. I Ordered Chicken Shish Taouk. Firstly, took a very long time to make it. Then it finally arrives with hairs on it. Yes, you rushed and quickly made me a new dish within minutes. But it tasted awful because it was rushed and I didnt enjoy eating at all. But because I was starving by this point I ate it. I wish I never paid the bill honestly. You ruined my time in Cannes. Worst experience ever. Don't go here, it is not worth the money they charge and the food standards are poor.
Kevin M★★★★★
The falafels here were some of the best I’ve ever had, super flavorful! Staff were friendly and attentive and the main course dishes were also amazing, the meat was super tender and flavorful.
Racha Sweid★★★★★
Beryte is hands down one of the best Lebanese restaurants in Cannes! Every dish was incredibly fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. You can really taste the quality of the ingredients and the authenticity in every bite. The grilled meats were perfectly cooked, the mezze selection was outstanding, and the desserts were the perfect ending to an amazing meal. The atmosphere is elegant yet welcoming, making it a great place for both a relaxed dinner and a special occasion. I highly recommend Beryte to anyone looking for exceptional Lebanese cuisine in Cannes. I’ll definitely be coming back!
C. Mun★★★★☆
My friend and I enjoyed a nice lunch here. The falafels were flavorful and light. The fatouche salad and hummus were delicious, however, I didn’t like the thin pizza because it dried out and I felt like it was like cardboard paper.
Cielo Healing★☆☆☆☆
Food was delicious but very poor service. Waiter took 10 minutes to take our order after seating then food took another 20 minutes for starters to come. We ordered a side dish with the main meal and it never came even after we asked them twice if it’s on the way. Tall waiter was rude and looked irritated every time we called him over to check if our food was on the way. Shame because the food was tasty.

I ordered from here and overall it was okay. I have to say the food looks better than it tastes. The tacos was good, but there were a few disappointing points. The cheese sauce tasted like Kiri, which I personally didn’t enjoy. I also paid extra for the truffle cheese sauce, but it didn’t really have any truffle flavor, which was a letdown. I wish there was more chicken and less fries in the portions, and it would be great if there was an option to add lettuce, raw onions, chopped tomatoes just to break the boring pattern of sauce, meat and fries. Also I really appreciated the mini candy they included with the order!
Robert McIntyre★★★★☆
Food was great. Staff was friendly and helpful. Took about 30 min for our food to come.

the food was delicious, the crew was very friendly and the atmosphere was so good, we had a great time.
Alexandre★★★☆☆
Tacos is very good, generous amounts of fried sweet potatoes. I ordered a smoothie but the smoothie amount is not alot, only the smoothie juice ane bubble on the top and it should touch the mark of the smoothie cup, it was a little bit under the letter "new" .. and i only have 1 thin serviette for a whole meal . But the staff is very nice!
Matteo Digosciu★☆☆☆☆
We had a box and a taco, two menus for €27,30. To begin the taco itself was decent but the fries inside were old same as all the other fries and the sauce "mustard de miele" was way too present. The box was ok but the chicken tenders inside were terrible and really stiff. The waitress couldn't understand a single english word and the meals took nearly 25 minutes to be ready. Would not recommend mainly because of the price. The only good thing was the drinks which were canned.

This food is absolutely incredible. My wife and I have been in France traveling for two weeks - we are from NYC - and are big foodies. This meal hands down was the best food we've had in France. The restaurant is understated- we ordered take out after an exhausting day. The lamb and the sweet date sauce is the best lamb we've ever had. Portions plentiful. Every single thing we ordered was absolutely delicious. My wife couldn't believe the Google reviews for this restaurant wasn't 5 stars across.the board. Every dish bursting with unique flavor. Of you're into Lebanese and or middle eastern.flavors this place is an absolute must.

Good food with big portion and nice staff. But i dont know why she told us it’s not enough of a couscous for 2 ppl so we should order 1 more, but actually the portion is kindda big so ye 1 adult like me cant even finish it, unless im a big man i guess 😂😂😂 so ye feel free to order 1 couscous and maybe sth else like appertizer or dessert the share.

We were looking for some African style restaurant instead of choosing posh restaurant under our flat at promenade we came here. It was really authentic food, nice service - I had lamb tajini with plumbs, was so so much delicious like desert, husband has couscous royal has not manage to eat it all. Great place for nice calm dining!

If you’re in Cannes and love authentic Lebanese food, your trip is incomplete without visiting AL CHARQ. I have tried many restaurants in Cannes, and while some are popular because of their location or shisha, the food itself often doesn’t live up to the hype. I even had a disappointing experience at a Turkish restaurant in a five-star hotel that simply wasn’t worth the money. AL CHARQ, on the other hand, was outstanding. The food was incredibly fresh, full of authentic flavors, and every dish was prepared with care. The service was warm and welcoming, and the overall atmosphere made the experience even better. If you’re looking for genuine Lebanese cuisine in Cannes, I highly recommend this place. It deserves every one of its five stars.
J.S★☆☆☆☆
What a scam… I’m normally not the type of person to leave negative reviews about food, but I work in the food industry and know what good quality should be. If you’re looking for a good shawarma, this is probably the worst place to come. I understand that traditional Lebanese shawarma isn’t always toasted, but at least use fresh bread. The bread tasted old, the chicken was dry and had almost no flavor, there was barely any garlic sauce, and there were no pickles. The service wasn’t any better. I had to ask several times where each item was. Every time I asked, it suddenly arrived, but somehow it was cold. Since when do you serve cold fries? €8 for such a small portion is ridiculous. The garlic sauce was the biggest disappointment. It tasted like plain yogurt with a little garlic mixed in, not authentic Lebanese toum at all. In total, we paid around €125 for two people, so I expected much better quality. If you’re charging those kinds of prices, the food and service should reflect it. Unfortunately, I can’t recommend this place. The quality of the food, the service, and the overall experience were far below expectations. It simply isn’t worth the money.

Very tasty halal food. Large portions (you can really eat your fill). The bread was fresh and still warm, hummus - very tasty. Service nice, even though they were there before opening hours they accepted us as customers. I reccomend.

I had a great experience at Al Charq restaurant. I tried the chawarma platter with mixed meat, and it was absolutely delicious well-seasoned, tender, and full of flavor. The portion size was generous and very satisfying.I also ordered a virgin mojito, which was refreshing and perfectly balanced. On top of that, the service was excellent, friendly, attentive, and fast.Overall, awesome food, great portions, and top-notch service. I’ll definitely be coming back!
Zsolt Szemerszky★★★★☆
Al Charq in Cannes is a decent choice when you want to treat yourself to a quick Lebanese meal. The portions are generous and satisfying. While the shawarma could be slightly improved, it is still enjoyable. The grilled chicken, on the other hand, is full of flavour and stands out as a highlight. The only downside was the pita bread, which was warmed up and served in its plastic bag, a detail that slightly takes away from the overall experience. Overall, Al Charq is a great option for a budget-friendly lunch, offering solid quality and very good value for money.
Nibras Saleh★★★★★
So good, we came had this place for lunch and dinner. Can’t got wrong with either the beef or chicken shawarma wraps. Probably the best shawarma I’ve had in a long time. Tabbouleh, hummus, baba ghanoush and falafel were pretty good. Service was great, they were very friendly and welcoming.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Absolutely fantastic experience! 🇱🇧❤️ If you’re at the Al Charq in Cannes, you definitely have to try the Lebanese food here. The chicken shawarma was simply amazing — incredibly flavorful, well-seasoned, tender, and cooked perfectly. Every bite had that authentic Lebanese taste that makes you want to keep eating! The side dishes were also absolutely delicious. Everything was fresh, tasty, and prepared with great care. The different flavors and textures went together perfectly with the shawarma, making the whole meal really enjoyable from start to finish. What I especially loved is how authentic and genuinely Lebanese the food tasted. You can really feel the Lebanese cuisine and traditions in the flavors. 🇱🇧 The quality of the food was excellent, and it was clear that a lot of attention was put into preparing everything. Overall, a wonderful place to eat at the festival. The chicken shawarma is definitely a highlight, but the side dishes deserve just as much praise. If you love Lebanese food or simply want to discover some really delicious food while at the Al Charq in Cannes, I highly recommend stopping by. Definitely a 5-star rating !

Discovered this place by accident as we couldn’t get a table on the way up this side road. Fantastic atmosphere across all the restaurants than blend into one heaving party. The food was a lot better than the reviews suggest (saw the feedback after ordering). Tangine was absolutely fine as was the sea bass. Professional service and plenty of staff to see you to you table.

We had dinner at Salama Restaurant and really enjoyed the overall experience. The atmosphere is beautiful, with lovely music that creates a warm and relaxing ambiance. The staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming. A special thank you to the wonderful lady from Cape Verde who looked after our table. Unfortunately, I don't remember her name, but she was incredibly kind, attentive, and always smiling. She made our evening even more enjoyable. As for the food, it was a mixed experience. The couscous was very good, and the fried rice was also enjoyable. However, the mixed grill was below my expectations and was the weakest dish of the evening. Considering the prices, I felt the food could have been better overall. Even though I probably wouldn't return specifically for the food, I would definitely remember the outstanding hospitality, beautiful atmosphere, and excellent service. Thank you to the whole team for making us feel so welcome.
Fijnproever★☆☆☆☆
We came here to have some dessert. The place wasn’t busy at all. We were seated, given a menu and made our choice. A few minutes later, the waiter came back and told us that it was not possible to order dessert only. We had to order a main course as well, otherwise we would have to leave. Since we had already had dinner elsewhere, we politely refused. To make matters worse, the waiter then had the audacity to ask whether we would come back for dinner another time. I felt very disrespected. If a restaurant is willing to send away customers who are already seated and ready to spend money, it clearly cares more about maximizing revenue than about hospitality. We were treated as if we were not welcome simply because we did not order enough. You will never see me here again. This place feels like nothing more than a tourist trap. They seem to be interested only in money, and that is a very ugly way to treat customers.
Jad★☆☆☆☆
One of the worst restaurant experiences I’ve had in a long time. The waiter attempted to take payment without showing us the bill first. When we insisted on seeing it, we discovered additional charges that had been added without any explanation. We were also quoted prices that were different from those ultimately charged. This immediately raised serious concerns about transparency and honesty. What made the situation even worse was the complete lack of professionalism from management. The manager showed absolutely no interest in addressing our complaint, offered no apology, no explanation, and no effort whatsoever to resolve the issue. She seemed more interested in making appearances around the restaurant than helping dissatisfied customers. For a restaurant that claims to offer a premium experience, the customer service was shockingly poor. Being presented with unexpected charges and then being treated with indifference when questioning them is simply unacceptable. I would strongly encourage anyone visiting Salama to carefully review their bill line by line before paying. Very disappointing experience. I will be sharing my experience publicly on social media so other customers can make informed decisions.
Safa Khalid★☆☆☆☆
The worst experience ever 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻let me explain: - Fyi, they tell you The minimum spending is 200€ per person and it has been like this since some months (Coz I have been there one time coz I just paid from the menu my meal) -The people working there aren’t at all welcoming not even smiling at you like they’re forced to work there and not happy with their job (waiters , Dj, Receptionist) except the nicest person who plays Percussionist who welcomed us and spoke to us nicely and made a good vibe which kept us enjoying even if all) - People working there, keep coming & going to your table taking your plates before you finish without asking, their manner is so bizarre and I have never lived such experience, I have been to many Michelin starred restaurants and have never been treated like this (Like Sh**). - The food is mediocre. Im in Cannes for Holiday and yesterday was the worst evening spending here unfortunately….. NEVER again Never 👎🏻

Went there to have dinner and mist say the food was good! However the waiter left in the middle of us ordering without reason, which meant we couldn’t oder any beverages until about 40 minutes later. The only other waiter present we tried to ask for water shut us down. Then they forgot several items of our order and didn’t comment on why. We wanted to order a drink from the menu and the waiter said no, the kitchen is too busy as it is. Overall a good restaurant to eat, the service is lacking and maybe don’t expect all your food or drinks to arrive.

We had an amazing experience at this restaurant! We ordered several dishes, including the biryani, butter chicken, and basmati rice — everything was absolutely delicious and full of authentic flavors. The spices were perfectly balanced, and the food was beautifully seasoned. You can really tell they use fresh ingredients. Also tried the mango lassi, super refreshing! Definitely recommend this place if you’re craving flavorful and well-prepared Indian cuisine. Will be coming back for sure!

Excellent food and great service. The owner made my mum gluten free naan personally. Went out of his way to give us the most impressive service. The food was authentic and absolutely delicious. Definitely coming back when I’m back in Cannes.

This hidden gem, dimly-lit restaurant is amazing. Cozy atmosphere, Everything is made fresh, so be patient. My wife had the tikka masala and I had the kofta Jaipur — both excellent.

Worst restaurant experience ever!! Extremely rude attitude and arrogant staff, with absolutely no basic customer service. The portion sizes were ridiculously small for the price, making it terrible value for money. This is not an Indian restaurant, so don’t expect the warmth or hospitality you might normally associate with Indian dining. Very disappointing, definitely wouldn’t recommend!

Practical Tips for Halal Dining in Cannes

Dining out in a new city always requires a bit of local knowledge, and Cannes is no exception. While the city is increasingly accommodating, understanding the local rhythm and customs will help you secure the best tables and enjoy a seamless experience. These tips are designed to help you navigate the halal food scene like a seasoned local, ensuring you spend less time worrying and more time savoring your meal.

  1. Book Ahead During Festival Season: If you are visiting during the Cannes Film Festival or summer peak months, tables fill up incredibly fast. Always call ahead or book online to avoid disappointment, especially for dinner at popular spots.
  2. Check for the Halal Certification: While many restaurants advertise as halal, it is always wise to look for a visible certificate or ask the staff directly. Most authentic establishments are proud of their certification and will happily reassure you regarding their meat sourcing.
  3. Embrace the Late Dinner Culture: The French, and particularly the Riviera crowd, tend to eat dinner later than in many other countries. Many kitchens don’t open for evening service until 7:00 PM or 7:30 PM. Arriving earlier might mean finding the doors closed.
  4. Explore the Neighborhoods: Don’t limit yourself to the Croisette. Venture into the backstreets of Le Suquet or the Prado district, where you will find more authentic, family-oriented restaurants with better value for money compared to the tourist-heavy waterfront.
  5. Save Room for Mint Tea: A traditional North African or Levantine meal isn’t complete without a glass of hot, sweet mint tea. It aids digestion and is a central part of the hospitality experience; refusing it politely is fine, but trying it is highly recommended.

Exploring the halal culinary scene in Cannes offers a wonderful opportunity to experience the city’s multicultural heartbeat. Beyond the glitz of the film festivals, these restaurants provide warmth, authenticity, and a sense of community that resonates with locals and visitors alike.

Whether you are craving the comforting spices of a Moroccan couscous or the fresh zest of Lebanese tabbouleh, Cannes delivers with style. By choosing any of the venues listed above, you are guaranteed a meal that respects your values while introducing you to the rich flavors that make this Mediterranean city so special.
