Cannes is a city that seduces the senses long before the first plate arrives at the table. The sweep of La Croisette, the shimmer of the Mediterranean, and the quiet confidence of the French Riviera set a scene where dining becomes theatre. Yet beneath the red carpets and superyachts lies a genuine, working food culture shaped by Provençal markets, Italian immigration, and a fierce pride in hospitality.
For decades, the Italian table has held a special place in Cannes’ culinary identity. From family-run trattorias tucked behind the old port to sleek modern dining rooms near the Palais des Festivals, the city offers a remarkable range of regional Italian cooking. Whether you crave handmade pasta, wood-fired pizza, or a slow-simmered ragù, the options are far more nuanced than the tourist trail suggests.
Choosing where to eat can feel overwhelming in a city with so many restaurants competing for attention. The best Italian restaurants in Cannes balance consistency, ingredient quality, and atmosphere rather than relying on location alone. Locals tend to return to places where the welcome is warm, the pasta is rolled in-house, and the menu respects the seasons.
This guide focuses on dining rooms that deliver genuine value and memorable meals. You will find a mix of historic favourites, neighbourhood gems, and refined addresses that suit different budgets and occasions. Each recommendation has been selected for its reputation among residents, its commitment to Italian culinary tradition, and its ability to serve visitors without pretence.
Because Cannes changes with the seasons, it is wise to book ahead, especially during the film festival, summer holidays, and major congresses. Many smaller kitchens close for a few weeks in winter or reduce their hours, so checking current opening times is always a sensible step. The effort is rewarded with meals that linger in the memory long after the sun has set over the bay.
Below is a curated selection of twelve standout Italian restaurants in Cannes, each offering something distinctive. From Ligurian seafood to Neapolitan pizza, these addresses represent the depth and variety of the city’s Italian dining scene.

the staff is really nice and open to tourists, they speak great english. the food is amazing and the dessert it’s too sweet, it’s perfect. you can also feel the alcohol in the cocktails and they fill them to the brim. the food is around 35 euros and the drinks around 15 euros. i had the fish that was cooked to perfection, the sauce was incredible and it paired well with the fish and the mashed potatoes. the tarte was a bit small but every bite made it worth it, it was the perfect amount for a sweet treat at the end of your meal.

We had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. The food was exceptionally delicious! especially the steak and the pasta, both were perfectly prepared and full of flavor. The wine and cocktails were excellent as well and paired beautifully with the meal.
The prices were very reasonable for the quality and overall experience. What made the evening even better was the service: the staff was attentive, genuinely friendly, and made us feel very comfortable and welcome throughout the night.
We would definitely come back and highly recommend this place.

Fast, pretty — but something feels off🤔
Cocktails and food arrived quickly, presentation was nice. But the pace never slows down — tables are cleared and reset almost before guests have stood up, and that restless energy lingers throughout the meal.
The pizza is decent, though the dough could use more character.
Left feeling heavier than expected for a casual dinner. With a bit more patience in the kitchen, this place could be genuinely good🙌🏼
Julee Schmitzer★★★★★
Very delicious food. There were no vegan options on the menu but they were happy to make me pasta arrabiata, which was amazing. The restaurant setting was very central in Canne & had great outside seating. Our server Natalia was very attentive & helpful.

Perfect service from Fabio and Josh. It’s our second night eating at Ragazzi. It’s one of the best restaurants in Cannes for sure. The food came fast and was perfectly flavored. I can recommend this place 11 out of 10! I‘ll come here again when we are in Cannes and will recommend it to my friends. Mersi and Gracie.

It was lovely, with great service and excellent food. We went on a Sunday evening and the restaurant was quite bustling, which added to the lively atmosphere. The food was incredibly fresh, and the décor really makes you feel like you’ve been transported to the Mediterranean. Prices are on the higher end, but the quality and experience make it well worth it.

I was looking for a quick lunch for one and this place did come up on Google. When I arrived I thought it looked very small and understated place, not my usual choice but I thought I would give it a go.
The service was very quick and friendly. I ordered their seafood pasta and it was delicious and my plate was completely empty in need time.
I would be more than happy to return.

There's several Italian restaurants in south of France but only a few have the food quality to match good Italian food. This place will not disappoint. I wish I would have gone back for the pizza because it looked amazing. we only tried the pizza flatbread with our Italian pasta which was terrific.

We had a very enjoyable dinner at Cheer Mamma in Cannes. My partner ordered the La Mielleuse pizza, which was flavorful with a perfectly crisp crust. I chose the spaghetti alle vongole, generously filled with clams and a delicious, well-balanced sauce—I could have easily enjoyed a second serving. The atmosphere was vibrant, with an open kitchen, good music, and a lively buzz that made the evening feel special. Service was friendly and added to the overall positive experience. A solid 4 stars.

Four visits later, Il Viaggio continues to impress! The food is consistently amazing, the service is exceptional, and the courtyard fountain creates a gorgeous dining ambiance—all at a very reasonable price. You absolutely have to try the Caesar salad; the dressing is incredibly unique and delicious. For the main courses, you can't go wrong. The pastas are excellent, the lamb is delicious, and the scallops are wonderful. We will absolutely continue to return!

First off, a huge thank you to Max. His service was absolutely incredible and made the whole night even better.
The food here is on another level. Truly some of the best Italian I’ve had in a long time, and it’s easy to see why this spot is rated as the best in Cannes.
✅ Must-try dishes:
• The white truffle pasta is a perfect 10. Rich, aromatic, and unforgettable.
• The steak with homemade veal sauce alongside creamy mashed potatoes is another 10/10.
• Don’t skip dessert. Every bite ties the whole experience together beautifully.
Between the atmosphere, the flavors, and Max’s attention to detail, this is a place I’d recommend to anyone looking for an authentic Italian experience in the South of France.

Really enjoyed this place. It’s situated on a lovely little square and in the evening they have loads of tables outside here with candles and soft lighting. It’s very atmospheric. We arrived and quickly after there was a big rain storm! But the umbrellas covered us well and it was great. Staff were lovely, a little slow at times mainly probably due to the rain! Food was excellent, as was the bottle of vermentino. I really enjoyed this place and will return.

Nice Italian restaurant which is away from the tourist area in Cannes.
Food is delicious and portion is big. Highly recommend Risotto with Mussels and warm octopus salad.
Great service!
Sitting out area is also very comfortable without too many cars.

This is definitely a good option to go to for Italian in Cannes. Their outdoor seating on a nice evening is super nice.
They have a good variety of food options and with some being for the day. They taste super good and the portions are satisfying. Their sweets are a must as well.
The staff are very friendly

Lovely place, on the quieter side of Cannes., which i really liked., as it was easier to breath and enjoy without the crowds hovering over in the hot weather. The pizzas were delicious and the pasta with prawns was also really good!.. service was great and so was the ambiance.

Amazing food, big portion and very friendly staff. We had a great time there meal was delicious (I had the truffle ravioli and and an aperol spritz), I would recommend it! 😌

Stopped in while staying near the old town and had a really enjoyable dinner. The Margherita pizza and Aperol Spritz special for €20 was a great value, and both were surprisingly good. The pizza had a nicely blistered crust, fresh ingredients, and hit the spot after a long day exploring Cannes. Drinks were well made, service was friendly, and the harbor setting made for a perfect casual evening. Definitely worth a visit if you’re looking for solid pizza and cocktails near Le Suquet.

I came here on a Sunday afternoon, and it wasn't crowded. I ordered a Margherita with Pancetta, and it was amazing! The crust, the flavors, and all the other ingredients were perfectly on point. I added the spicy sauce, which is handmade by the restaurant, and it truly elevated the pizza.
I highly recommend this place! The location is beautiful and cozy, situated right in front of the sea. The staff were super nice and friendly. Totally recommend this spot!

An absolute hidden gem in Cannes!
As an Italian ironic as it is, I had to travel all the way to Cannes to eat one of the best Neapolitan pizzas of my life! It was fresh, absolutely delicious, and – thanks to the high-quality ingredients – not heavy on the stomach at all the next day. Fantastic! Unfortunately, I discovered this place way too late, on my very last evening. It looks a bit unassuming from the outside, but the products are absolute top-tier. Next time I'm in the area, a stop here is an absolute must!

Very good spot to have an authentic Italian meal. The service is excellent, polite and helpful. Every dish was savoury with perfectly cooked pasta. The restaurant is also a delicatessen shop for Italian products, that they also propose at the restaurant. I personally had the ravioli della nonna, that are a mix of local (Nice) ravioli filled with daube meat and a gorgonzola sauce that I would recommend! The cold cuts are amazing and the buratta piemontese is just to die for...

Gorgeous little venue, beautiful atmosphere. Indoor and outdoor seating. Staff friendly and good menu, we only came for pizza and it was so good! We didn’t have room for dessert but we’d go back again to eat!

PIZZA IS BEST, forget the rest.
My recommendation: order the Pizza for take away and enjoy it with a wine at home!
The staff is a mix of amateur students and just gets their bare minimum done. Mostly talking to eachother. Fake smile to guest they clearly don’t like from the beginning on, why Soever (dumb tourists I guess) That’s not how you get costumers that would come again. You get treated like a one time guest. Sat there with an empty glass of Prosecco and beer during my whole meal.
Only in the end, I guess it’s the manager who asked if we would love to have some more drinks after finishing our meal. I think he needs better quality and from inside friendly personal for this restaurant as I would love to give it a 2nd chance.
Let’s talk food! The pizza is the best that you can get in Cannes for a good price value. Neapolitan style … really enjoyed it!
Noodles: my wife had the bolognese / Ragou … noodles tasted like instant noodles … I actually dont think so … but something was weird about it. Maybe they even do it by themselves and just add to much flour to it … I don’t know but they need to check that 🥴 the meatball was raw inside … so yeah I think they can do better.
Will try again next year hopefully with a slight change. For now … I can recommend only the pizza for take away.

I was disappointed with my experience today. I found a hair in my pasta and informed a member of staff. They took my plate away but never apologised, offered a replacement, or came back to speak with us. We were still charged for the meal. I understand mistakes can happen, but the lack of any response or attempt to resolve the situation was very disappointing.

Great pizza. Friendly staff. We walked by early after visiting the castle above. Got full a little later. Slightly off the more touristy part of old town.

We popped in without a reservation and we were greeted with smiles and a quick table arranged for five. The food was amazing from the steak, to the fish, salmon, pizza & chicken burger. The bonus was the owner was a Vin Diesel look alike 🙂 As it was a family run business the customer service was outstanding 😊

An amazing fully halal restaurant in Cannes. The decor and atmosphere of the restaurant adds to the whole experience. There is a good selection of food to choose from and the portion sizes are very good. The mojito was refreshing without being too bitter. This place is a great alternative to avoid the crowds in central Cannes, but still not too far from the centre. The staff are friendly and were patient with our indecisiveness when it came to our seats lol. Thank you again 🙂

Absolutely love this restaurant! Great food, great service with a smile, generous portions, delicious food. I visited two days in a row! I could not leave Cannes without trying the Pistachio Tiramisu! Loved every bite.
New restaurant with indoor and al fresco dining! Beautiful decor. So much color and texture. You know it's a high quality restaurant by the quality of the menu! Haha. My point is that they have not missed any detail to offer an exceptional dining experience.
I highly recommend it.
They do birthday celebrations with class - no off-key servers singing. I was impressed with the birthday music and sparklers served with dessert. I definitely want to come back for my birthday!
Highly recommend it all!

I had dinner at Scalini Cannes and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
The restaurant offers a very elegant atmosphere, creating the perfect setting for a memorable evening.
One of the highlights was the live singer, whose beautiful songs added a wonderful touch to the overall ambiance.
The food was fantastic, and every dish was prepared to a very high standard. Everything about the experience was amazing, from the atmosphere to the dining experience itself.
I would highly recommend Scalini Cannes to anyone looking for excellent food and an elegant dining experience.
Guido Hegerl★★★★★
We had been wanting to visit Scalini in Cannes for a long time and finally made it — and now I regret not going much sooner. From the very first moment, we were welcomed in an exceptionally friendly, warm, and attentive manner.
We started with an aperitif at the bar, which was absolutely delicious and set the tone for the evening. Our table was beautifully located, creating a lovely atmosphere for dinner. The service throughout the evening was outstanding — genuinely kind, helpful, and extremely attentive. A special thank you to Antonio for taking such great care of us.
The food was excellent across the board. Every dish was beautifully prepared and full of flavor. In addition, the fantastic live piano music added something truly special to the evening. The atmosphere it created was elegant, lively, and perfectly suited to the setting, making the entire experience even more memorable.
It was a wonderful dining experience from start to finish, and we are already looking forward to our next visit!
Rawan Idrees★★★☆☆
The atmosphere and live music were nice, but that’s about where the positives end.
The truffle gnocchi was the standout dish, followed by the calamari. Everything else was fairly average especially the pizza 😅
The service however, was well below what I’d expect from Scalini. Our waiter couldn’t hear us properly, missed one of our orders and brought the wrong dish at one point. Staff also seemed to expect us to make room on the table ourselves whenever food arrived.
Overall, decent atmosphere, average food, and poor service.

The food and the wine were absolutely amazing! We especially want to highlight the excellent service — the waiters were incredibly kind, attentive, and regularly checked on us, which made us feel very welcomed and comfortable throughout the evening.
We would definitely come back the next time we visit Cannes. Thank you for such a lovely experience!

The food was delicious.
We took a couple of cold starters to share.
And after everyone choices different dishes.
From risotto to pasta, from shrimps to
Orata.
The orata was like 800g. Quite big for one portion.
Everything was nice

Beautiful venue. Extremely professional service during the event. Excellent food.
A festive yet elegant atmosphere throughout the evening.
From an organizational standpoint, however, there is significant room for improvement.
I organized a group dinner for 66 guests at Il Grande during an international event. While the venue itself is undoubtedly impressive, the pre-event organization and coordination were disappointing and not at the level one would expect from a venue of this standing.
Despite weeks of planning and several entirely standard requests (guest management, table arrangements, beverage cost transparency, operational details), much of the information was provided in a fragmented, delayed, or inconsistent manner. Requests for direct alignment calls were repeatedly declined, forcing all coordination to happen through long email exchanges until just before the event.
Key elements that should normally be clearly defined in advance — final procedures, cost transparency, operational limitations — remained unclear until the very last moment, creating unnecessary complexity and additional workload on the client side.
Our expectations were professional, reasonable, and fully aligned with standard practice for this type of event. The issue was not flexibility, but rather the lack of clarity, accountability, and efficient coordination.
A venue of this profile should ensure stronger processes and more proactive communication, especially during peak periods.

Beautiful restaurant in Cannes serving decent Italian dishes. The service wasn’t fantastic but the ambiance and the truffle pasta made up for it! Sooo delicious. The aubergine parmigiana was also fantastic.

I visited Il Grande while staying in Cannes with my wife and friend for the week. It is conveniently located at the end of the end of Point Croisette. It’s a beautiful location and even more beautiful restaurant. We sat outside to dine Al fresco and the ambiance at Il Grand is magnifique! It was a nice and sunny day mid week, and we wanted a chill spot to rest a bit. We weren't really hungry, but ended up ordering a charcuterie board, and omg this was amazing paired with our drinks. Still missing the bressola weeks later. The waiter was obviously Italian 😆 a lil bit hautain vibes. Friendly staff. Nice place in a corner so you see a lot of passants.

Hello happy people. Today we are in Cannes - France. Cannes is one of the most famous resort towns on the French Riviera, located on the Mediterranean Sea in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region. There are many places to eat in the city. We visited San Telmo. A very nice and peaceful place. The service is very friendly. The atmosphere is pleasant. Hygiene is at a very high level. The portions are large. The food is very, very tasty. The prices are normal. If you are looking for a more peaceful place to eat, visit San Telmo. Greetings and smiles!

I had 5 pizzas during my stay here in Cannes. This was the best pizza I had all week. With the other four restaurants I had pizza I always said to myself as I bit into the pizza, it’s just not as good as the one I had the first night.
Will be frequenting this place for pizza on every subsequent visit to Cannes.
Is it the best I’ve ever had? No, but it is the best I’ve had in Cannes so will recommend it to others!

Went for dinner and the food was just amazing. We ordered the burrata salad to start, the pickled onions with the cheese was just delicious. Next we shared the linguini vongole (clams) and the octopus with sweet potato mash. They were both so good and left us wanting more! The food was quick to come out. Would definitely come back again to try their pizza.

My new favourite spot in Cannes, perfect for lunch and a rest bite between conference meetings / shopping sprees. The staff are wonderful and I cannot recommend them highly enough. I hope I continue to be able to get a table when I’m in Cannes!

This restaurant has good food and an upscale vibe without being crazy priced. However, if you want to feel like you are dining in a night club then this is your spot. Do not come here if you want a relaxing dining experience. The music was so loud I had to yell to others at the table. If that’s your vibe then perfect but if not either sit outside or find elsewhere.

Great low key restaurant in Cannes staff is friendly and service is swift. I went a couple of times during my stay. Good service and pretty interior. I got the steak and asked for it rare — unfortunately it was overcooked and didn’t have much flavour. I would try the pasta dishes instead if I were to return. Decently priced considering how close to the Palais.

Very authentic, rustic, and comforting flavors served in this Italian restaurant situated at the heart of Cannes. The highlights were the hand-made pastas; the ragu was absolutely sublime. The meatballs were okay, and the pork shank was lacking a bit of flavor, but other than that, great food indeed.

Good food and a nice simple experience. I had the beef stew with mashed potatoes and a glass of prosecco — everything tasted really good. The portion wasn’t too big, which I actually liked.
Nothing fancy, just solid, comforting food done well.

We stumbled across this resto, we have passed many times before trying this visit. Great friendly Italian service, super price point for wholesome and delicious pastas.

Great tasty Italian food.
Didn't have to wait too long for food to come after ordering.
Sitting inside the restaurant, air was a little stuffy. They should have switched on the fans
How to Choose the Right Italian Restaurant in Cannes
The difference between a good meal and a forgettable one often comes down to a few practical decisions made before you book. Cannes rewards diners who look beyond the obvious terrace with a view and pay attention to how a kitchen operates. The following tips will help you match the restaurant to your mood, budget, and expectations, so you can eat with confidence rather than chance.
1. Look for menus that change with the seasons
A serious Italian kitchen in Cannes will adjust its menu to what is available at the Marché Forville and regional producers. If a menu looks identical in January and July, it is often a sign of pre-prepared or industrial cooking. Seasonal specials, daily pasta fillings, and fresh fish listed by the day are strong indicators of a kitchen that cares.
2. Pay attention to where the locals eat
Restaurants filled primarily with French and Italian residents tend to offer better value and more consistent cooking than those that rely solely on passing tourist trade. Walk a few streets back from the Croisette or explore the Rue Saint-Antoine area in Le Suquet. A room buzzing with regulars at lunch is one of the most reliable signs of quality.
3. Ask about the pasta before you order
Handmade pasta has a texture and absorbency that dried pasta cannot replicate, but both have their place depending on the dish. A good restaurant will be happy to tell you which pastas are made in-house and which are imported from small Italian producers. If the answer is vague or defensive, lower your expectations for the primi.
4. Understand the difference between a pizzeria and a trattoria
Cannes has excellent pizzerias, but not every Italian restaurant excels at pizza. If you want a proper Neapolitan pie with a blistered crust, choose a restaurant built around a wood-fired oven. If you want fresh tagliolini with truffle or a slow-braised osso buco, a trattoria or ristorante is the better setting.
5. Book early for the film festival and summer evenings
Cannes transforms during the Festival de Cannes in May and the peak summer months of July and August. The best Italian tables are reserved days or even weeks in advance. If your visit falls during a major event, call rather than rely on online booking platforms, and be prepared to dine earlier or later than usual.
6. Do not judge a restaurant by its proximity to the sea
Some of the most memorable Italian meals in Cannes happen in modest dining rooms with no view at all. A sea view adds atmosphere, but it can also add a premium that is not reflected on the plate. Decide whether you are paying for the panorama or the cooking, then choose accordingly.
The beauty of eating Italian food in Cannes is that it never feels like a compromise. The city’s Mediterranean rhythm, its access to exceptional produce, and its long-standing Italian influences create a dining culture that is both glamorous and deeply satisfying. Whether you are celebrating a special occasion or simply looking for a bowl of pasta after a day on the beach, there is a table waiting that understands exactly what you need.
Take your time, ask questions, and let the meal unfold at its own pace. In a city that knows how to perform, the best Italian restaurants in Cannes are the ones that make you feel less like an audience member and more like an honoured guest.
