10 Best Tapas Bars Near Jardí del Túria

Tucked into the heart of Valencia, the Jardí del Túria is more than just a park; it is the city’s green artery. This sprawling ribbon of gardens, sports fields, and walkways winds through the old riverbed for nearly nine kilometers, offering a unique escape from the urban hustle. As the sun begins to dip and the runners finish their laps, the surrounding neighborhoods come alive with the clinking of glasses and the aroma of sizzling garlic.

For locals and savvy travelers alike, the area bordering this lush oasis is one of the best places in the city to hunt for authentic Spanish cuisine. The streets flanking the park are dense with historic taverns, modern gastro-bars, and family-run bodegas. Here, the tradition of "tapeo"—hopping from bar to bar for a drink and a small bite—is not just a meal, but a way of life.

However, with so many options spilling out onto the sidewalks of neighborhoods like El Carme, Ruzafa, and Mestalla, choosing the right spot can be overwhelming. You don’t want to waste an evening on a tourist trap serving frozen croquettes when a world-class "bomba" or a plate of freshly shaved jamón is just around the corner. The key is knowing where the locals go to argue about football and where the chefs go after their shifts end.

That is why we have curated this definitive guide to the best tapas experiences near the park. We have walked the length of the Turia, from the Bioparc to the City of Arts and Sciences, to sample the offerings. We looked for places that balance tradition with quality, atmosphere with authenticity, and price with generosity.

Whether you are looking for a quick stand-up bite with a cold caña or a leisurely seated feast of montaditos and regional wines, this list has you covered. We have prioritized venues known for their consistency, their sourcing of local ingredients, and their ability to deliver that distinct, vibrant Valencian energy.

Prepare your appetite. Here are the establishments that define the culinary landscape surrounding Valencia’s most beloved green space.

If you are looking for the real Valencia, this is the place to be! A small, authentic restaurant away from the hustle and bustle, tucked away in a cozy side street. The food and the cold drinks were fantastic especially the empanadas are an absolute highlight and a must-try! On top of that, the staff is amazing, highly attentive, and incredibly warm. You instantly feel welcome. I'm so happy I stumbled upon this place!

Incredible seafood paella!! It was excellent - the rice was just well caramelised and the seafood superb. A highlight of our trip to Valencia. Small downside: €18 per person felt a tiny bit expensive for the size of the plate, but we haven’t compared paella prices in other restaurants. We also really loved the sangria - the balance between the fruit sweetness and the red wine was just right.

Visisted this restaurant today. Amazing food (ensaladilla rusa - the best we’ve tried so far, tortilla and meatballs)😍 will be back next time we are in Valencia👌
Julieta★★★★★
Delicious tapas with generous portions. Friendly and attentive service. Would come back and recommend it!

The paella was on another level, easily the best we’ve had in Valencia. Staff were genuinely warm and attentive. The place has a cosy, local atmosphere that doesn’t feel touristy at all. Highly recommend Tasquita del Mar if you want real flavor and a relaxed, authentic spot.

Amazing tapas and an absolutely lovely woman serving the food. Great atmosphere with many locals visiting. Very happy that we found the restaurant. Very much recommended! 😉
Elena Bunina★★★★★
Very nice place, the food feels like homemade and the products are fresh. Fast service compare to other places, the food was ready within 10 min. The dessert was awesome. On the photo grilled seabass in a garlic oil.
William Peckham★★★★★
The star of the show is the Pulpo a la brasa (octopus), cooked to perfection and an absolute must-visit if you want tapas. I would also advice a glass (or jug as we did) of Aigua de València to acommpany! I would also recomemd Pan con Tomate, Boquerones en vinagre, Patatas Bravas, Gambitas al Ajillo, Calamares a la Romana. All of which were delicious and we would happily have again!
Nina Gheysens★★★★★
Highly recommend as well, we had a wonderful time there and the food was delicious. Special thanks to our lovely waitress Jessi who was one of the best waitress I’ve ever had. Super attentive, efficient and just wonderful. The meat there is scrumptious. Also the wine Tarima Hill for red lovers is delicious!!

Only had the cheesecake but it was the best cheesecake I’ve ever had! The service was pretty quick and the atmosphere was calm. (not their fault roadworks were happening right next to us) Will definitely come again!

I visited this restaurant several times during my stay in Valencia, and it quickly became one of my favorite spots. I tried a variety of their tortillas and sandwiches, and everything was consistently amazing. My personal favorite was the sandwich with Serrano ham and cheese — absolutely delicious. What really stood out to me was the quality of the products, as well as the friendly and welcoming staff who always made me feel comfortable. I also really appreciated their wide variety of non-alcoholic drinks, which can be surprisingly hard to find. It made the experience even better. Overall, a fantastic place that I would definitely recommend and return to!
Matthew Dumpleton★★★★★
What a lovely little tapas place. We just had the Goats cheese tortilla, the local Turia beer and a lemon beer, all lovely. There are only a few tables outside, but a lovely find, the Agua de Valencia is popular here, will come back and try tomorrow !!

Really nice place in a quiet street. Tapas and drinks - perfect mix for a quick bite / lunch or a bit longer stay withe friends.

Always have the nicest time here. The staff are very friendly and attentive. The tapas is high quality and delicious - the tortilla options are my favorite! They say they have the best Agua De Valencia … and they might be right 😉 .. oh and very dog friendly.

Absolute gem of a place. I don’t even have words to describe the experience. Having travel across Spain for the last year, I can honestly say that this place is what would bring me back to Valencia. 20/10. Do yourself a favour and come explore the flavours!!!

Absolutely loved Tapas Time! 😋 We ordered Zamburinas, Camarón Rojo, Chipirones, Calamares a la Andaluza, and Pan tostado con tomate y alioli — everything was delicious. The staff were super friendly, and the food came out so fast we didn’t even get a chance to take selfies, just photos of the food! Highly recommend for seafood lovers in Valencia.
tugba aru★★☆☆☆
Service was friendly and the drinks were good. We also enjoyed the atmosphere. The grilled sardines were not really to my taste, mainly because they were served with a lot of internal parts and tissue still attached, which made them less enjoyable for me. I understand this may be a traditional style of preparation, but I personally would have preferred them to be cleaned a bit more carefully.

Very tasty tapas and really good drinks. Definitely a place worth visiting in Valencia. The staff was nice and everything overall was great, although the waiter forgot part of our order. Still, the food was delicious and we had a very good experience.
Megan Fang★★★★★
Our favorite restaurant when we were in town, best fresh sea food, and welcoming service. (this is not very common in this city, we’ve been to quite a few high rating restaurants and deterred by the service or the rude face ) But this one is totally different, genuine and warm service. Highly recommended

Really great restaurant! We had a fantastic experience here, with delicious food, super friendly service, and a very welcoming atmosphere from the start. The pork belly was definitely the highlight of the evening, packed with flavor and easily the best dish we tried. The beer was great too, and even the soft drinks were really nice. The staff were lovely to deal with and made everything feel easy and enjoyable. The place is quite small, so we had to wait about three minutes for a table, but that was no problem at all and absolutely worth it. Overall, a really enjoyable spot that we would happily come back to.
Mathilde★★★★★
Omg what a cute spot. I just finished going to the markets and wanted to sit and have a coffee, I was greeted kindly by staff who have such a welcoming approach. The place itself is beautiful with indoor and outdoor seating and fans indoors. The little tapas bites which is €2.45 per plate are absolutely delicious, my favourite was the pork shoulder one. I was so pleased to visit on my last day in Valencia. Thankyou

We had an amazing evening at Tapeando! The service was excellent from start to finish. The staff were incredibly friendly, spoke great English, and made us feel welcome and well taken care of throughout the entire evening. The tapas were delicious, especially the patatas bravas. The drinks were just as impressive. The Agua de Valencia is a must-try, and the sangria was fantastic as well. We also highly recommend the Aperol Spritz and the mojito! All of the cocktails were perfectly made. If you’re looking for great food, amazing drinks, and outstanding service in Valencia, Tapeando is definitely worth a visit. We would happily come back!

Excellent place, food and service. Don't miss their huevos rotos, and pintxos. Wine of the house was spectacular. I was attended very kindly, by Jessica. All the staff was great since the second I stepped in.

What a lovely place. We had a reservation so we could instantly have a seat. The staff is super friendly, the a service is a bit slow but the tapas is phenomenal.

We had dinner at La Terraza and really enjoyed everything we ordered. The garlic prawns were full of flavour and the beef empanadas were cooked perfectly. The Andalusian squid was fresh and crispy and the bread with fresh tomato and garlic aioli was the perfect way to start the meal. A special mention to Andrea who ensured we had everything we needed.
sandhya devas★★★★★
We stopped here out of necessity, just needing a restroom, and ended up discovering a gem. We started with empanadas and they were incredible. We couldn’t get enough, so we ordered more, followed by arepas with pulled pork and a patacón de pollo...and everything was outstanding. Every dish was perfectly cooked and seasoned. An unassuming place with truly excellent food. Don’t miss it. We can’t wait to come back and try the tapas.
Ryan★★★★☆
We went around lunchtime and the restaurant was not busy. We ordered Agua de Valencia, which we really enjoyed. For tapas, we had calamari, mozzarella sticks and chicken strips. The calamari was our favorite, lightly breaded with a nice flavor. The mozzarella sticks were our least favorite, as the coating was too thick and lacked flavor.
L & J Smith★★★★☆
Down an unsuspecting side street, this was a great find for lunch! We shared patatas bravas, mini hamburgers and shrimp ceviche tacos and had drinks of sangria. The hamburgers (didn’t even get pics bc they were gone too quickly!) and sangria were definitely the hit!

Amazing experience here! We chose this restaurant based on the reviews and were not disappointed. Everything, including the traditional Agua de València and Paella de València was magnificent. Salma, our server, was excellent and so patient with our terrible Spanish 👌 muchas gracias 🙏 to this wonderful team from Jennifer and Chris in Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Wonderful patio with very good food. It’s like a tiny oasis in the City Center. They have a lot of traditional tapas on tube menu, but all are prepared with care. The alcachofas were very tasty as were the tiraditos de pollo (chicken tenders). Prices are reasonable, especially for the location.

Amazing meal and great service. Our server Saray was attentive and nothing was too much trouble. If you are in Valencia you need to visit!

We have been served by Anas, a very friendly and professional waiter. The food and atmosphere were excellent. Highly recommend terrace seating for a cosy and romantic night out.

Amazing food, but the service was even better! We had a great time at Redondo en Boca. The food was delicious, but the best part of our night was our server, Danila. She was super friendly, gave us great recommendations, and made us feel right at home with a huge smile all night. If you visit Valencia, you have to eat here. Thank you Danila for the amazing service! 10/10.

The tapas were incredible! Sangria was one of the nicest I’ve had and was incredibly affordable. Staff were patient and attentive would highly recommend to anyone looking for amazing quality and affordable tapas. Four of us had drinks and food and the bill came to less than 60 euros

DAVIDA Tapas Bar is a lovely little spot right in the heart of Valencia. While wandering through one of the city's many charming squares, we stumbled upon this place and decided to rest our feet and grab a bite. We ordered a few tapas and a glass of beer each (we were thirsty, and we had already had some wine earlier in the day). Now, I have to pause here and say—Spanish wine? Absolutely fantastic. Every single one we tried, whether it cost 6 euros or 20 (we didn’t go fancier—why bother?), was top notch. Back to Davida. The tapas were delicious, the vibe was super relaxed, and the staff? Just great. There’s a Colombian, a Ukrainian chef, and an Argentinean behind the bar—basically the United Nations of good service. They’re all incredibly friendly and fun to chat with. If you ever find yourself strolling through central Valencia, look out for this cozy little bar. Order a few tapas, sip some wine, and just enjoy life. Trust me, your taste buds will thank you.
Stuart Maxted★★★★★
Great cafe for breakfast, friendly service and good options. Plenty of outside seating with cover. Fruit bowl with yoghurt & granola is amazing! 😋
Alison Gillwald★★★★★
What a relief to find this friendly little spot in the shade after having been dropped at the wrong address, without wifi access and large luggage for work and vacation. They got me online and help direct the uber to the luggage. And while standing in the air conditioned saw wonderful looking tapas and glacé , l’ll need to go back for.

I’m still feeling less comfortable to go to a diner in Valencia sometimes. I mean in the U.S. when I wait at the reception table, there is always someone come to greet and lead the way. But here, it could take me 10+ minutes waiting outside without any waiter or waitress greeting. They seem very busy, walking in and out, serving tables. So I guess maybe I should wait for a few more minutes. But, the result is always disappointing. I would appreciate if any local Spaniard could tell me what I should do. Is it polite to just walk in and ask for a table? Well, this is the story happened before I went into daVida. I waited for quite a while in another diner nearby with no one coming up to me. So I quitted and walked in this place. And I’m glad I made the right choice. The waitress is very cheerful and friendly. Actually all of the staff are. I can feel their happiness through their talks and their food. The food is great. The chicken breast is awesome, tender and rich in flavor. The chocolate crepes, oh I love it! I find there are a lot of pics of the tapas but no menu del día. So I took a pic of it for y’all reference.

A nice bar and seats outside. Went there on a Thursday, inside empty, outside half full, at 21.30h. Service was good, nice burgers and service. Can recommend this place, if the gran via does not disturb you.
Liviu-Cristian Mihon★★★★☆
We came here on a Thursday evening and the place was empty. They have happy hour between 5-8pm but only on a specific glass size. It seems to be mostly frequented by tourists. The beer variety is quite extensive and there are various pint sizes available to order. Unfortunately they didn't have the mango beer when we visited. The food was delicious and the service was nice and quick. It doesn't feel like a sports bar per se as there are only about 3-4 TVs in the entire location. The toilet is small (fits 2 people max at the same time) for the size of the location.
Carlos Assunção★★★★☆
Good food. Nice place.

Food and drink was absolutely beautiful! Highly recommend coming here! Staff are amazing also! You'd be crazy not to come here! Reasonably priced! 10 out of 10!

We passed by, asked if they show Bundesliga, and they provided us a little table with a big TV to watch the game Köln vs. Frankfurt. Beers were tasty, croquettes as well, and service very friendly. If you’re in Valencia and your team is playing give it a try - I am sure they can put your game as well! Great!!!

Greg Crane★★☆☆☆
The biggest disappointment in Valencia so far 🍸 I’d seen this bar mentioned several times in top-rated lists, and its overall rating is quite high, so my expectations were much higher. In fact, I visited twice because after the first visit I thought maybe it was just an off day or a matter of a particular bartender. Unfortunately, the second experience was even worse and confirmed my initial impression. The cocktails were well below average — the kind of drinks you could get in a random café that doesn’t even specialize in cocktails. The service was also quite strange. They don’t serve water alongside the drinks, which is something I’d expect from any respectable cocktail bar. On top of that, when a waiter asked whether we liked everything, he walked away before even listening to our answer, despite us being ready to give honest feedback about the cocktails. Overall, a very underwhelming experience that didn’t live up to either its reputation or its ratings.
Amilcar Fuentes★★★★★
An absolute gem in Valencia! The atmosphere is beautiful, the cocktails are creative and perfectly crafted, but what truly made our night was the exceptional service. Everyone on the team was warm, attentive, and genuinely passionate about making sure we had a great experience. We also had the pleasure of spending quite some time talking with Daniel, the owner, whose passion, hospitality, and genuine care for every guest truly set the tone for the entire experience. It’s easy to see why this place has become so special. It’s rare to find hospitality at this level. We left feeling more like guests than customers. We will definitely be back and will happily recommend The Jungle to anyone looking for an unforgettable cocktail experience. Thank you for such a wonderful evening! The Jungle deserves every one of its outstanding reviews.
Linus Sieber★★★★★
The Service was so kind to drinks were so delicious and so much different types of juice from alcohol to non-alcohol there was very much to choose from the menu.
Greg Guice★★★★★
What a great cocktail bar. I loved the Bugs Bunny and the Ladybug. Just amazing cocktails in a fun atmosphere.
Sophia Kipp★★★★★
A perfect spontaneous find for a chill cocktail! We immediately got a spot and a lovely table outside. We ordered a Magic Mushroom and a Pisco Sour, and the waiter was super friendly and even customized the pisco sour with passion fruit for us (we def went for the second round there!). The service was attentive throughout and made us feel very welcome. I also had a look inside, and the place looks really fun and cozy. Will def come back and check out the inside properly next time! 🍸✨

Essential Tips for Your Tapas Crawl Near the Turia

To truly enjoy the experience like a local, it helps to understand the unwritten rules of the Valencian tapas scene. While the bars on our list are welcoming to everyone, a little insider knowledge will ensure you get the best service, the freshest food, and the most authentic atmosphere during your visit. Here is how to make the most of your culinary adventure.

1. Embrace the Stand-Up Culture
The best spots near the Turia are often small and crowded. Don’t wait for a table; squeeze up to the bar, catch the bartender’s eye, and order. Standing allows you to see the tapas on display, move quickly between venues, and engage with the energetic atmosphere that defines Spanish bar culture.

2. Know the Local Lingo
While "tapas" is understood, in Valencia you will often see "raciones" (larger sharing plates) or "montaditos" (small slices of baguette with toppings). If you want the local specialty, look for "esgarraet" (salted cod and roasted red pepper) or "clóchinas" (small local mussels) when in season. Ordering a local dish by name instantly marks you as an informed diner.

3. Timing is Everything
Avoid eating at 6:00 PM if you want the real buzz. Lunch typically starts around 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM, and dinner rarely kicks off before 8:30 PM or 9:00 PM. Arriving at the "right" time ensures the food is freshly prepared and not sitting under heat lamps, and it places you amid the lively chatter of locals rather than a quiet, empty room.

4. Look for the "Caña"
Skip the expensive bottled beer. Ask for a "caña" (a small draft beer) or a "doble" if you are thirsty. It is cheap, crisp, and designed to be drunk quickly alongside a small bite before you move on to the next bar. For wine lovers, ask for the "vino de la casa" (house wine), which in Valencia is often a surprisingly good local varietal.

5. Don’t Skip the Bar Top
While menus are helpful, the true magic of a tapas bar is often sitting right in front of you on the counter. Look for glass display cases filled with marinated anchovies, stuffed olives, and tortilla. Pointing at what looks fresh is the most traditional way to order and ensures you are getting the ingredients that arrived from the market that morning.

The beauty of the Jardí del Túria is that it connects so many distinct neighborhoods, each with its own culinary personality. After a long walk through the orange trees and over the historic bridges, stepping into a bustling tapas bar is the perfect way to refuel. The contrast between the quiet, green calm of the park and the loud, aromatic energy of these local institutions is what makes Valencia so special.

So, loosen your belt, practice your Spanish greetings, and dive into the neighborhood. Whether you choose a historic institution or a modern gastro-bar, the flavors you find just steps from the Turia will likely be the highlight of your trip. Buen provecho!
