Stretching through the heart of Valencia, the Jardí del Túria is one of Spain’s most impressive urban parks. This nine-kilometer green ribbon follows the former course of the Turia River, which was diverted after the devastating flood of 1957. Today, it serves as the city’s communal backyard, filled with joggers, cyclists, and families enjoying the Mediterranean sunshine.
Because the park cuts directly through the city, it acts as a perfect navigational anchor for visitors. You can use its winding paths to reach some of Valencia’s most iconic cultural and architectural landmarks. Whether you are on foot or renting a bike, the flat terrain makes exploring the surrounding areas incredibly accessible and enjoyable.
While the park itself is a destination, the areas bordering its edges are rich with history and entertainment. From futuristic architectural complexes to centuries-old towers and bustling food markets, there is something for every type of traveler. The strategic location of the green space allows you to transition seamlessly from nature to urban exploration.
Understanding the layout of the park is key to planning your itinerary. It runs from the Bioparc in the west to the City of Arts and Sciences in the east. Knowing which side of the riverbed you are on will help you navigate to the attractions listed below with ease.

A magnificent UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Valencia’s architectural treasures. The Gothic design is stunning, and the interior columns are truly impressive. A must visit for anyone interested in history, culture and architecture. 👍 👌
Abdulla Harees★★★★★
The La Lonja de la Seda is one of the finest examples of Gothic civil architecture in Europe and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Located in the heart of Valencia, it was once the centre of Valencia’s thriving silk trade and reflects the city’s wealth during the 15th century.
Inside, the grand trading hall is the highlight, with its soaring twisted columns and elegant vaulted ceilings creating an impressive and almost cathedral-like atmosphere. The peaceful courtyard and beautifully preserved architecture make it easy to appreciate the building’s historical significance.
Whether you're interested in history, architecture, or photography, it’s one of Valencia’s must-see landmarks.
Tim Smith★★★★☆
An interesting blend of moorish and European architecture. The main hall is a wonderful airy hypostyle hall with beautiful light columns and fan vaulting. The other rooms have fantastic wooden ceilings. Look out for some of the details in the carvings. Some very skilled work with a sense of humour. The courtyard is highly influenced by moorish tradition.
When we visited, it was not crowded and no queue to get in.
Mace Windup★★★★★
A truly beautiful building which only cost me 2 Euros' entry. Different rooms with different styles. Sunny day made the orange trees and courtyard a Mediterranean dream. It doesn't take long to get around the whole place but it was well worth it.
taylor harrison★★★★☆
Really cute little experience for €2 each. Lovely courtyard with orange/lemon trees. Beautiful spiral pillars and ceilings.
We would just like to have had a few information points as to what we were actually looking at?

One of Valencia's best kept secrets. The old Turia riverbed turned into a park is just brilliant urban design — stretches for miles, beautifully landscaped, and free to enjoy any time. Perfect for walking, cycling, or just sitting and watching the city go by. The greenery is well maintained and there are enough open spaces and shaded spots to make it enjoyable even on a warm day. It connects so many parts of the city that you almost don't need any other route. A true gem that locals and visitors alike should make time for. Valencia got this one absolutely right.
L and D O C★★★★★
After terrible flooding in 1957, the river Turia was rerouted (and used for agricultural irrigation) from 1972.
The result is an amazing 9km long park running through the centre of the city.
It is a fantastic space with many facilities and amenities, ideal for running or cycling.
The cycle track brings you close to the port and within 10 minutes cycle of the beach.
Ernie Silhanek★★★★★
Wonderful park, great for strolling, jogging, biking, bird watching. There are numerous paths based on usage (walking, biking, etc.). As a bird watcher, I enjoyed wandering through the trees and shrubs and observed over 17 species of birds, including parakeets, Hoopoes, doves, pigeons, and a variety of other small song birds.
Lots of places to sit; grounds were well maintained. Great place to relax and explore.

Definitely a must as an adult and if you have kids they will love it as well. We had a great time visiting with our toddler. Beautiful park design and layout to observe animals. Lunch overlooking the animals was an unforgettable experience. Our new favorite zoo! Bought tickets online. Restaurant has vegetarian options.
Claire Errington★★★★★
We absolutely loved the BIOPARC. Such beautiful enclosures for the animals and beautifully well designed. We were lucky enough to get a table next to the giraffes in the cafe which was an added bonus. We absolutely loved it and would highly recommend. Will be back when next in Spain

Bioparc Valencia is one of the best zoos I have ever visited. The entire park was exceptionally clean and very well maintained. The animals looked healthy, full of life, and clearly well cared for. You could see fresh food in their habitats, and many of them were playful and active, which gave the impression that they were comfortable and thriving in their environment.
The design of the park is truly unique. The natural-looking habitats blend beautifully with the surroundings, creating an immersive experience for visitors. I was particularly impressed by the architecture and landscaping, which provided excellent shade throughout the park, making it comfortable to visit even on very hot days.
Overall, it was a wonderful experience, and it was clear that a great deal of care and attention goes into both the welfare of the animals and the enjoyment of visitors. Highly recommended for families, animal lovers, and anyone visiting Valencia.
Ștefan-Alexandru Stancu★★★★★
Very beautiful and relaxing experience. It is really worth it to see all these animals in such great places, designed for them. Giraffes and elephants were sooooo beautiful! Highly recommend to check for the free guided tours that last for about 15 minutes and are organised couple of times a day in various spots in the park. You can find about them at the entrance or on the website.
Maya Martinez Zubiel★★★★★
One of the best zoos I've ever been to. The animal enclosures are all very spacious, giving them plenty of room to move around in. The variety and quantity of different animals was insane. This was beyond your average lion, giraffe and rhinno zoo. The park was well maintained, with no litter anywhere. Whether your'e an avid bird watcher or a fan of creepy crawlies, you'll find something for the whole family here. Honestly, this zoo blew me away. There is also an immersive 3D experience to make up for the lack of a full-sized aquarium (though there are parts with underwater animals in the park itself). The experience involved sitting in a dark room with a VR headset and headphones. A voice in your language of choice guides you and your "crew" deeper and deeper into the ocean to explore and discuss the stranger creatures which are rarely spoken about. It felt very realistic and was worth the extra money. If you are ever in Valencia and think you have seen everything, give this zoo a visit and say hi to all the unique animals here!

By day, this place is a perfect blend of modern architecture and nature, creating a stunning view that is a true feast for the eyes. It’s an amazing spot for a picnic, reading a book, or just relaxing. By night, when the sky turns dark, the venue lights up and can be seen from afar. Event organizers and clubs definitely know how to use this space—the vibrant night lighting combined with loud music creates an incredible party atmosphere where you can have a blast while enjoying the colorful, futuristic architecture 😍
NessaBlume21★★★★★
Lovely outdoor attraction! We saw some green parrots and other birds nesting in the top.
Nice shaded area but still warm in peak heat.
No tickets needed, free entry!
Arzu Avci★★★★★
Breathtaking architecture & garden. We really loved the walk here! We do recommend.
Norbert Kreidt★★★★★
L’Umbracle is far more than just a shaded walkway; it is a stunning combination of a botanical garden and an open-air modern art gallery. The monumental structure consists of a series of high, white arches stretching for hundreds of meters, housing a wide variety of native plant species and tropical vegetation. As you stroll among the palm trees and fragrant flowers, you enjoy one of the best panoramic views of the entire futuristic City of Arts and Sciences complex. The "Stroll of the Sculptures" is particularly charming, featuring contemporary artworks perfectly integrated into the natural surroundings. In the evening, a portion of L’Umbracle transforms into an exclusive open-air club, making this location a true symbol of Valencia's vibrant lifestyle and elegant design.
Tim Floor★★★☆☆
Great place for lounging. Good atmosphere and the venue looks amazing. Prices are high (beer €8, entrance at the door €27). We stayed for an hour and then got bored. There wasn’t much going on at Thursday night. Rather lounging than partying. Wanted to visit the dance club downstairs, but couldn’t get in with the same ticket until after around 4 am, which was really disappointing. That’s why we left. So make sure you make the right decision about lounging or partying before you enter.

Jardines de Monforte is one of the most serene and beautiful hidden gems in Valencia. It offers a peaceful escape from the city’s hustle and bustle, featuring a perfectly maintained neoclassical design that feels like stepping back in time.
One of the most enchanting features is the long, arched walkway completely covered in lush climbing plants. It provides deep, natural shade and a quiet atmosphere, making it the perfect spot to bring a book and spend a few hours reading on one of the benches. The way the sunlight filters through the greenery creates a really unique, relaxing vibe.
The botanical diversity throughout the park is also impressive. You can find a wide variety of plants and flowers, including some striking Strelitzias (Bird of Paradise) in full bloom. Whether you are a local looking for a quiet corner or a tourist seeking a picturesque stroll, these gardens are a must-visit for some tranquility.
Chris Skovgard★★★★★
Nice, little, quiet garden to walk through. Once you're inside it feels secluded from the rest of the city.
Luis Mendoza★★★★★
Wonderful garden, not so big as Viveros, but more quiet, go there if you want to disconect from the city for a while. Open everyday, free of charge. Entrance from street: Plaza de la legion Española.

Jardines de Monforte is a beautiful, peaceful garden that feels private but is free to enter. It has many different sections to look at and a stunning pergola to sit under. We will be back soon!

As a visitor to Valencia, I am blown away at how beautiful and wide stretching this park is. It makes a great cut through, or just a nice place to walk. Lots of dogs!
Ambroise NICOLAO★★★★★
I was looking for a place to sleep in my silly hammock as my silly friend didn’t understand what day I arrived to Valencia coming from the C of Poland, and couldn’t host me that night.
I found the park very welcoming at 2am and I felt safe.
I first tried to set up my hammock on top of the hill in the southeast. However, the wind was strong and there were some Begu already relaxing there.
I then looked for a more sheltered spot on the opposite side of the hill.
It turned out to be a great place, as I was hidden by bushes from early morning joggers and night Begu.
The night was cool (17°) for a silly Begi with no sleeping Begu, but I managed to stay warm enough until the sunrise saved my cold self from turning into ice cubes.
I wasn’t woken up by the police in the morning (unlike in Almeria), none of my stuff went missing, and no late-night Begu caused any trouble near my tree.
The sunrise was very pretty. It’s a good idea to hang out there early in the morning.
Overall, a great experience—I left to catch a FREEEEE bus at the station 2km east.
Highly recommend spending a night here if you’re in a similar situation.

Wonderful landscaped park with Asian and European trees.
At the lake you can rent a pedal boat with the shape of a dragon, swan, flamingo etc.
The small restaurant is great for a coffee or small lunch.
Don't forget to walk up to the top of the hill to enjoy the view.

What an awesome idea! So creative to make a giant pirate into a playground. My 7 and 10 year old loved this free stop on our cruise! I even joined in the fun and went down some of the slides. Inside the hat is a small version of the entire pirate playground. Very accessible for all kids and adults.
Ana Antić Folić★★★★★
Nothing can replace a shot taken by a drone, but if you fly from the side of the park (left or right) you will have the best impression of the size of the toy in question. Fantastically designed, take children only if you are fit. 😀 There is no entrance fee, the toilets are clean, and drinking water is available from the tap all the way on the other side of the entrance (in the part of the park with benches). You can easily reach it by taxi and public transport (bus 95) from the center, and right next to it is the city of science and art.
Roberto G.★★★★★
Loads of fun for free, what's not to like? Our 5yo loved this playground and we, adults, had fun playing with him. It really is suitable to all ages.
A few benches and a free water fountain are available to provide some rest as well.
Only downside is that it can get very very busy at certain times.
Christine Lieu★★★★★
This was the funniest playground I’ve ever discovered randomly and it made my inner child so happy! Definitely check it out and climb the giant and slide down some slides. So fun for kids and adults!

Fantastic, very big and awesome park, but slides surely will burn your bottom does not matter if you have jeans or shorts because it gets 1000 fahrenheit at sea level at sound speed .
Lived the trip, the mood , even the people there were just very nice at that day .

An old chapel dedicated to Saint Fiacre, patron saint of gardeners. Inside, one could once find a wooden carving of the saint by the sculptor José Esteve Edo, but today the chapel is empty and enclosed by a metal gate, containing only the altar table, but no religious ornaments. These are now kept safe at the Alquería de Canet, very close to the chapel.
Saint Fiacre (610-670), a native of Ireland, spent much of his life in seclusion in a French monastery, tending the gardens that provided him with food and fed the poor and pilgrims who came to the site.

Tips for Visiting Jardí del Túria and Its Surroundings
To make the most of your time around the Turia Gardens, a little preparation goes a long way. The park is extensive, and the Mediterranean sun can be intense, especially during the summer months. The following advice is designed to help you navigate the area like a local and ensure a comfortable experience.
- Rent a Bicycle: The park is nearly nine kilometers long. Walking the entire distance and visiting attractions can be exhausting. Valencia has an excellent bike lane system and rental shops are plentiful near the park entrances.
- Visit Early or Late: To avoid the intense midday heat, plan your sightseeing for the morning or late afternoon. Many locals take a siesta during the hottest part of the day, and some smaller attractions may close for lunch.
- Carry Water and Sunscreen: The park has many sunny stretches with limited shade depending on the season. Public water fountains are available, but carrying a bottle is essential for staying hydrated while walking between landmarks.
- Wear Comfortable Footwear: The paths are well-paved, but you will likely walk several kilometers. Supportive shoes are necessary to comfortably navigate both the park grounds and the cobblestone streets of the old town nearby.
- Check Opening Hours: If you plan to enter attractions like the City of Arts and Sciences or the Bioparc, book tickets online in advance. This often saves money and guarantees entry during busy tourist seasons.
The Jardí del Túria offers a unique way to experience Valencia, blending leisure with cultural discovery. By using the park as your main thoroughfare, you avoid heavy traffic and see the city from the perspective of its residents. It is a relaxing way to connect the dots between major sights.
Whether you are marveling at modern architecture or enjoying a picnic under the trees, the area surrounding the riverbed encapsulates the best of Valencia. Take your time, enjoy the atmosphere, and let the flow of the old river path guide you through an unforgettable urban adventure.
