The banks of the Guadalquivir River have long been the beating heart of Seville, and nowhere is that pulse felt more strongly than around Puente de Triana. This iconic bridge connects the historic center with the vibrant, tile-clad neighborhood of Triana, a district famous for its ceramic traditions, flamenco roots, and deeply ingrained culinary culture. For locals, crossing the bridge is a daily ritual, but for visitors, it is a sensory journey into the city’s most authentic flavors.
While the area is often celebrated for its tapas bars and fried fish, the breakfast and pastry scene here is equally compelling. The aroma of fresh-baked bread, cinnamon, and sugar spills out onto the cobblestone streets from early morning until late afternoon. Whether you are looking for a flaky croissant, a traditional Spanish cake, or a hearty loaf of sourdough, the streets surrounding the bridge offer a treasure trove of baked goods.
Understanding the local baking landscape requires a look at both sides of the river. On the Triana side, you will find historic family-run businesses that have been perfecting their recipes for generations, often using wood-fired ovens and artisanal techniques. On the Seville center side, modern patisseries and specialty coffee shops have emerged, blending French techniques with Andalusian ingredients like olive oil and Seville oranges.
The search intent for a visitor here is usually twofold: they want a high-quality breakfast to start a day of sightseeing, or they need a delicious snack to enjoy while strolling along the river. Others may be looking for a specific local specialty, such as a pionono or a traditional tarta de aceite. Understanding these needs means highlighting not just the location of these bakeries, but the specific items that make them worth the visit.
Quality in Seville is fiercely guarded, and competition among bakers is high. The best establishments prioritize sourcing local wheat, using cold fermentation processes, and avoiding the mass-produced, frozen dough that plagues lesser tourist traps. As an expert guiding you through this culinary map, we focus on venues that offer consistent quality, authentic flavors, and a true sense of place.
This curated guide is designed to help you navigate the sweet and savory landscape of the Triana district. We have evaluated these bakeries based on the freshness of their ingredients, their reputation among local residents, and the uniqueness of their offerings. You will find a mix of classic confectioneries and modern bakehouses, all within a pleasant walking distance from the bridge.
Below, you will find the essential stops for anyone with a craving for flour, butter, and sugar near the river. Use this list to plan your morning coffee run or your afternoon indulgence.

Best pastries we tried in Seville. Had the raspberry mascarpone croissant, pan Suisse, chocolate covered hazelnut croissant and pistachio caracol. Beautiful all of them. Will happily return. And the shopkeeper was very affable and helpful.
Liam Corrigan★★★★★
In our top 5 globally. Try the local custard it's delicious with cinnamon and star anise but perfectly balanced so nothing overpowers. We came 2 days in a row and none of the cakes disappointed. Would heartily recommend.
Abdul Aziz Al-Amin★★★★★
Pastries were quite delicious, had the pistachio and raspberry croissants. Service was too notch very helpful and friendly people there. Highly recommended.

Dulcería Manu Jara was a lovely find and definitely worth the stop. I ordered the pain au chocolat and the pain suisse. The pain au chocolat was my favourite, buttery, flaky, and rich without being overly sweet. The owner was very kind and attentive, which made the visit feel even more personal.
I picked up my pastries to go and later paired them with a double cortado from another spot nearby. Everything tasted incredibly fresh and you can really tell they use quality ingredients. The bakery itself is beautifully decorated, with a high-end display of pastries that shows off their craftsmanship. Just note there is no seating, so it’s more of a takeaway place.
This spot is well known in Seville and you can tell it’s earned its reputation. Others rave about their desserts and the overall experience and I have to agree. If you’re in the Triana neighborhood and want something sweet and authentic, this is a must visit.

A very cool coffee shop where the coffee is genuinely delicious - but the real highlight is the space itself.
The design is excellent, from the bar to the walls and even the ceiling. Everything feels thoughtfully done and visually striking. The pastries are also a standout.
On top of that, the owner is lovely, which ties the whole experience together. Easily my go-to coffee spot in Triana.

Our favorite bakery of all our travels in Spain! We had a pan au chocolate and a croissant that rivaled anything we have had in France. They also have a large assortment of beautiful breads that you can have sliced. The staff was very friendly and patiently described items to customers. Galla waited on us and she was absolutely fantastic!! Highly recommend!!

Croissant with jamon serrano & cheese was amazing!
Only place in Sevilla that serve it.
Amazing strong coffee and selection of food.
Restaurant for locals and I highly suggest you go and taste their breakfast!

Clearly, a neighborhood favorite spot to meet, visit, eat, and drink. Understandably so - friendly service, great food!
We quenched our afternoon thirst with Tinto de verrano and our hunger with three of the montaditos - Diamante, Altozano, and Chapina. Each sandwich comes with a delicious side of potato chips. They are perfect for sharing - three for the two of us was just enough for a great snack.

Classic local bakery, early opening times compared to competitors. Big sized sweets, the eggy cream with chocolate base was great, very filling too.

The Grenada pastries were delicious, but the bread was dry, the white wines are mostly the same you find in a supermarket, and the service was not very friendly or helpful.

Panadería artesana espectacular.

La cheesecake de lotus también buenísima.
Todo muy bueno y recomendable.

Without a doubt, the best pastry shop in Seville. I go every day for the bread, it's delicious, and the service from Juan is absolutely wonderful. But the pastries are incredible, and the cakes for birthdays or events are spectacularly beautiful and incredibly tasty. The prepared food to take away is also very good.

I was already familiar with the cakes from this bakery, and my whole family loves them—they're delicious! Plus, the staff is lovely. But these boxes of shortbread cookies are simply spectacular; they're beautiful on the outside and incredibly delicious on the inside. Perfect for a gift.

Fantastic bake shop we happened upon by accident!! The best surprise so far in Seville. The owner was very attentive and kind… engaged us trying a few samples! They were delicious, ‘Old World’ treats like Nagymama and Oma used to make! Not overly sweet, yet a very satisfying treat with memories of years past….a memory of childhood! We bought the medium box enjoy over a few days….thank you! A must visit bakery!

During my vacation in Sevilla I was so lucky to meet Rafa and got to taste a lot of his hand made pastries. All of them are so delicious. I just can't decide which one is my favorite 🙂
Rafa is so sympathic and loves to share his knowledge about his hand craft. Also he lets you try couple of his dulces.
I will definitely visit you again. Highly recommended.
Lucia Luna Valverde★★★★★
What an amazing hidden gem, away of the busy streets you find this bakery managed by the baker himself, who will recommend you the must try sweets of the region.
The special torreja with nuts and cinnamon is a nice twist for a classic.
The polvorones and mantecados are to die for, super happy that they offer them away from the "normal season"; you can feel the almond and butter in them.
The pestiños de miel were outstanding, you can really feel the flavor of the honey.
The tocino del cielo is something that I would avoid as an expat not used to its taste. Per recipe, it is egg yolk and sugar, and yes, it tastes exactly like that. So, if you are not keen on that taste, I would skip it.
Also, the coffee they have is great; it was awesome to get a good one for a change.
Do yourself a favor and go for the real local experience here.
The price for all and the coffee was 11 euros.
Matteo★★★★★
lovely place. it truly feels like an authentic bakery frequented by locals. the staff was very eager to tell us about their traditional quaresima sweet.
it was so good we had to go twice
Vera Cristini★★★★★
A lot of different textures and tastes in the biscuits. The owner is really passionate about his craft and takes time to explain everything and while explaining let's you sample and does so with joy, which is rare nowadays. Everything tastes great and is extremely difficult to resist, for us sweet tooth folk. It is not overly sweet, so you can really enjoy it. It is also made like things once were. Visiting again for sure.

Mercado de Triana is a lively and colorful market that’s definitely worth a visit when exploring Seville. The stalls are full of fresh produce, local specialties, and traditional ingredients, giving you a great sense of the city’s food culture. It’s fun to walk around, browse the different vendors, and see what locals are buying.
It’s also a great place to stop for lunch — there are several small eateries and tapas bars inside the market where you can enjoy fresh seafood, jamón, or simple local dishes. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, making it an easy and enjoyable break during the day.
Whether you’re here to eat, shop, or just soak in the local vibe, Mercado de Triana is a charming and worthwhile stop.
Cindy, Realtor & Travel Lover★★★★★
If you’re wondering whether Mercado de Triana is worth visiting, the answer is a big YES.
Come hungry. Seriously. 😂
Mercado de Triana is one of the best places in Seville to sample local food, grab a cold drink, and experience the city’s energy all in one spot. You’ll find everything from fresh seafood and jamón to tapas, desserts, and local specialties. It’s the kind of place where you go in planning to have one snack and leave wondering how you accidentally had lunch, dessert, and a drink.
The atmosphere is lively, authentic, and full of locals and visitors enjoying good food. We loved wandering from stand to stand seeing what looked delicious next.
💡 Fun Fact: Mercado de Triana sits on the site of the former Castillo de San Jorge, the headquarters of the Spanish Inquisition in Seville. Today, it’s thankfully known for food instead of interrogations.
📍 Pro Tip: Visit around lunchtime, grab a few small dishes from different vendors, and share everything. You’ll get to try more of Seville’s amazing food without filling up at the first stop.
Whether you’re a foodie, a history lover, or just looking for a fun thing to do in Seville, Mercado de Triana is absolutely worth adding to your itinerary.

Of all the Mercados nearby, this one has the most options to choose from. We made a visit around the end of August and they have more restaurants and stalls open than the other Mercados. Great food!
Borut Vasle★★★★★
Best Mercado near center of Seville but actually is located just across the river in Triana district (used to be home for ceramics working class people). Really nice architecture and also you can go deeper and see how the locals try to get trough really hot summer days.

As part of Luxury gold travel we went to the markets ,walked around with our tour guide. Wondered through the market discovering local produce . Then we had a cooking class , where we learnt to cook paella .great experience I can’t recommend enough , a must try .

Panypiu is a very pleasant spot for breakfast or a light meal. The coffee is excellent, and both the croissant and the sandwich are fresh and tasty, making for a satisfying combination. Overall, it’s a simple but high-quality place that works well for a relaxed start to the day in Seville.

Bakery with delicious and varied food options. We tried the focaccia, pistachio croissant, milk bun and apricot pastry and all were perfect, as was the coffee

Found this place thanks to Google reviews. What a wonderful cafe bakery. First visit to Seville and this cafe and the staff are friendly and helpful. Supportive to you learning Spanish but also speak in English if you get stuck.
We weren’t exactly sure of how to get served at first but approached the counter to wait. A couple of times we were missed but I honestly think that was down to us speaking to each other - so we weren’t interrupted. As soon as we stood with purpose and engaged, made eye contact with staff, we were served.
The food we ordered was wonderful, I had the spinach quiche and OH MY WORD! Out of this world, I’m pretty convinced there was goats cheese in it. Whatever cheese it was it was lush and the texture of the warmed quiche with the salad and balsamic was spot on.
Cappuccino for me. Appletiser and bagel with ham cheese and rocket for my partner. He loved it too. Highly recommended. The interior and atmosphere is also very calming and welcoming. One thing I also love is the thought to add hooks under the table for your belongings. Wish more places in the UK thought to do this.
Facilities include - fully accessible toilet, baby changing space in there and I spotted a highchair too. Everyone is welcome.
Alexander Slipchenko★★★★★
Pretty decent experience overall. Good breakfast options, a lot of nice pastry. English breakfast good, but on a small side of scale. Cards are accepted. In the morning can be pretty hectic - queue is rather unorganized and seating places are pretty scarce.

Panypiu - Bread and much more
The best bakery in Seville! I’ve been trying many croissants almost 4 weeks in Seville.
Among nice bakeries in the city, I found this place as my number one because it has more than just pan 🙂
My favorites were the croissant and pain au chocolat. They are crispy outside, moist inside from enough butter. For me, the chocolate in pain au chocolat was also rich and just right. And the price is reasonable, the size is very generous.
The staffs are so patient and warm- hearted even when it’s too busy which is always.
They are focused on what they should serve. I think the team works very efficiently. I admire their work.
I already became a repeat customer here.
My breakfast time here was the happiest time during my stay in Seville 🙂
I hope all best to everyone who works here. 👍

Probably the best cafe in Seville, my second visit to this outlet in another branch. Smoothie was delicious and reasonably priced. Sandwiches and lunches are also fairly priced. Just google this cafe and make an effort to visit, you will thank yourself and save lots of money from all those tourist traps. Good luck.

Spectacular!! I couldn't say which one is my favorite... some of the best French toast I've ever tasted.

It's a very unique little shop selling French toast, ice cream, and tiramisu. Everything looks delicious. You have to order to go, as there's no space to eat in. The staff is very friendly. I bought two French toast slices (one pistachio and one custard and cinnamon) and a medium-sized ice cream, half lemon and citrus and half mango and passion fruit. Everything was delicious. I've included some photos. I'll definitely be back. Highly recommended.

Best coffee we have had in a long time! Ethiopia sidamo was in season - we asked for an espresso and a latte (café con leche). Friendly, fast service, hip atmosphere - and the opportunity to watch bread and pastries being made! The palmera was so buttery and crispy too! Can't wait to come again.

We went here for breakfast every day during our visit to Seville. The staff are super friendly (and kind enough to speak English for us and also to help us improve our woeful Spanish). The food is delicious, as are the coffee and fresh orange juice. Right next door you can buy bread and pastries. You can also watch the bakers at work through the windows by the cafe. All set in a beautiful arcade-style market and with excellent prices. What more could you want?

Breakfast place inside a market
The market was closed when I visited. Meaning the place was rather quiet
Friendly and fast service ..the croissant were average ..so was the coffee and the orange juice
Will I go back ? I will try another location to get a better opinion.
Kudos to the friendly service !!
Johanna Parker★★★★★
My first breakfast after arrival… I was afraid of too dark roasted coffee but it was perfect! A medium blend with some fruitiness combined with a brioche and a Jamon iberico sandwich… divine 🤩 All coffees are made with a doubleshot on a Victoria Arduino Eagle one. Great equipment and supernice barista! (And all on the tray for 6,70€!😱) way too cheap! I am a coffeeroaster, I know how much good beans, good machines and good staff cost… Thank you 😊
Tips for Enjoying Bakeries Near Puente de Triana
To make the most of your culinary tour, it helps to understand the rhythm of the local day and the customs surrounding these baked goods. Spanish bakery culture differs significantly from other parts of Europe, particularly regarding timing and portion sizes. Knowing a few insider tips will ensure you get the freshest products and avoid the disappointment of arriving when the ovens have gone cold.
- Go Early for the Best Selection: Traditional Spanish bakeries bake in the early morning. If you want a warm pastry or the best selection of breads, arrive before 10:00 AM. Many family-run shops close in the afternoon for siesta and may sell out of their signature items by lunchtime.
- Know Your Local Specialties: Do not just look for croissants. Ask for regional items like the pitufo (a small, soft bread roll typical of Seville), tortas de aceite (crisp, sweet olive oil wafers), or pestiños (honey-glazed pastries). These offer a more authentic taste of Triana than generic French pastries.
- Embrace the "Merienda" Culture: Spaniards often eat a light snack between 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM. This is the perfect time to visit a bakery for a slice of cake or a sweet pastry paired with a hot chocolate or coffee, allowing you to rest your feet before dinner, which is rarely served before 9:00 PM.
- Don’t Skip the Savory Bread: While the sweets are tempting, the true test of a great bakery in Triana is the quality of its bread. Look for dense, rustic loaves or mollete (a soft flatbread from Andalusia). Buying a fresh loaf, some local cheese, and jamón is a perfect way to create a picnic by the river.
- Check for Artisan Indicators: Look for bakeries that display signs like masa madre (sourdough), horno de leña (wood-fired oven), or obrador artesano (artisan workshop). These indicators usually mean the establishment takes pride in traditional methods and avoids industrial mixes.
Walking through Triana with a paper bag filled with warm pastries is one of the simplest yet most profound pleasures Seville has to offer. The neighborhood’s identity is inextricably linked to its food, and the bakers here are keepers of a tradition that values patience and quality over speed.
Whether you choose a modern specialty coffee shop with laminated dough or a centuries-old convent bakery selling sweets through a turnstile, you are participating in a local ritual. As you sit on a bench overlooking the Puente de Triana, watching the rowers glide down the Guadalquivir, the taste of fresh bread and sugar will likely become one of your most enduring memories of the city.
