12 Best Restaurants Near La Giralda

Standing in the shadow of La Giralda, with the scent of orange blossoms drifting through the narrow streets, you are standing in the culinary heart of Seville. The iconic bell tower is more than just a historic landmark; it is the compass point for an incredibly diverse dining scene. Whether you have just finished climbing to the top for panoramic views or you are wandering through the neighboring Barrio de Santa Cruz, hunger is never far from a solution.

The area immediately surrounding the cathedral is a dense tapestry of tapas bars, hidden patios, and innovative kitchens that honor Andalusian tradition. However, navigating the streets that spiral outward from this monument can be overwhelming, with tourist traps often sitting dangerously close to authentic gems. Knowing where locals go versus where the guidebooks send you is the key to a memorable meal.

We have walked these cobblestones, pushed through the crowds on Calle Mateos Gago, and sat in the quiet corners of hidden courtyards to curate a list that balances tradition with modern flair. From the slow-cooked magic of Iberian pork to the freshest seafood from the Andalusian coast, the choices near the tower are vast. This guide focuses on quality, atmosphere, and value, ensuring you don’t waste a single meal.

The beauty of dining in this historic zone is the variety of formats available. You can stand at a crowded bar eating paper-thin slices of jamón, sit down for a lengthy multi-course lunch, or find a rooftop terrace with a view of the very tower you came to see. Each meal style offers a different perspective on Sevillian culture, and the best restaurants cater to these distinct rhythms.

Because this is a high-traffic tourist zone, timing is everything. Spaniards eat lunch late, often starting at 2:00 PM, and dinner rarely begins before 8:30 PM. If you eat at "international" times, you might find yourself surrounded by other travelers; adjust your watch to local time to experience the true energy of these establishments.

Below, we have compiled a definitive guide to the best dining experiences within walking distance of La Giralda. We have considered not only the food on the plate but the warmth of the service and the authenticity of the atmosphere. These are the places that respect the culinary history of Seville while serving it fresh every day.

Whether you are looking for a quick bite between museum visits or a romantic dinner under the stars, this list has you covered. Read on to discover where you should be eating when you visit the heart of the Andalusian capital.

This is certainly one of the best bars/restaurants in the area. Do take the time to enjoy the history and architecture of the building. However the charm is in obtaining an outside table and watching the world pass by. Service team are quite friendly and reactive. We visited several times and our experiences were consistent across the visits. Foods is quite good and certainly good value, presentation is a little lacking on certain dishes. Salads were particularly enjoyable. Overall a bar not to miss.

If you are touring around the area on the clock and finding a place to dine, you may want to skip the place as it takes a while to get served though the food is 10 out 10 especially the fried goat and grilled baby squid with black rice amazing. The staff is not so accommodating but nice. The first guy who serve was fast but when the lady took over up until the writing of this review i still don’t have my soda and my sangria is up. 🙈 if I was choking i’d be dead now. On a serious note. I would recommend the place as the food is tasty just spare ample time to dine here.

Hubby found this recommended on Pinterest so we came here after one of our excursions. Not to be disappointed! Best Jamón we had the whole of our visit to Seville. They were very busy inside and out but they had a table For us by the window.. met some wonderful people that were students and had made friends in a hostel the night before. We had Tapas and drinks and had a lovely time there. The decor is quite something ☺️

Luckily there’s seating upstairs and people were just leaving, so we snagged a table. The view of the dining area from there is neat. The service was quick and friendly. The food was hot and tasty. This was the perfect place to grab some food and cold drinks, you should definitely dine here!

The best restaurant for food and tapas in town!!! 😍😍😍 Thanks for the great delicious food and service you offer to your guests 🙏❤️ I will definitely recommend this place to everyone visiting Seville 🫶 I tried grilled baby squid plate and artichoke with boletus sauce and prawns 😋 Super good 👌👌👌

Abdelah was a superb host and he made mybartichoke dish upon special request, a recommendation from my walking tour guide. I ate a superb meal and highly recommend it. Ask for him!

Great views, try and make reservation for later times. We are early and it was hot outside but the food was delicious. Also the dessert recommendation from Abdelah was spot on we order the French bread dessert it was amazing.

We had a wonderful experience at El Giraldillo. The atmosphere was amazing, the location is exceptional, and the food was absolutely excellent. However, the highlight of our visit was definitely the service provided by Elizabetta. She was incredibly attentive, friendly, professional, and made us feel truly welcomed from beginning to end. Her kindness and care made our experience even more special. Highly recommended!

We have celebrated our 25 wedding anniversary with a lovely meal : gamba’s and lubina de estero and classic Andalusian dessert. Topped with a nice cool cava. The staff was excellent in this very hot day

This is the best tapas bar if you want to experience a truly local and convivial atmosphere. It’s always packed, though. Even though I don’t speak Spanish, other customers helped me out, and the staff were incredibly kind and welcoming. The food was delicious, the ambience was great, and I even met a gentleman who unexpectedly paid my bill, as well as the bill of a French couple sitting next to me. I didn’t understand what was happening at first, but if he ever comes across this comment, I would love to thank him properly and get in touch. The charm of Spain I would say.

we had been coming to this place everyday for our 3 days stay in Silvia. food and drinks are cheap and delicious. always packed with people so there were not many seats available, most people stand . Definitely check thus place out if you are around .

A wonderful breakfast experience with an incredible view. We tried several tostadas with different spreads, and every single one was delicious. Simple ingredients done exceptionally well, full of flavor and perfectly prepared. The beautiful scenery made the meal even more enjoyable. Highly recommended for a relaxing and satisfying breakfast.

My husband and I chose this place for our very first tapas experience and OMG it was overwhelming but so much fun😂 Thank you Senor Manuel for being patient with us! He was super friendly and nice. You are the best!!!! We just went up to the bar and ordered with no problem. The serving time was super fast! We were able to grab a seat later on and made friends with people sitting around us. Everything was delicious and so much fun! Highly recommended just for the experience but food was also good. Huevas fritas was our favorite😋
Shun Iketan (Mich)★★★★★
Tapas start at just over 3 euros, which is an amazing price for a location in the heart of a major city like Seville. Plus, the food is delicious. The waitstaff are attentive, and the place is bustling with energy. It’s a tapas bar that left me feeling nothing but satisfied. There are only about four tables on the terrace. It was lucky to get a seat here?

Our favorite restaurant in Seville was La Bartola. Delicious tapas, great sangria for less than 3 Euros and very friendly servers. We are still dreaming about the Iberian pork cheek stew over potato purée, the caponata, croquettes and homemade desserts. We ate there 3 times during our visit it is that good!
J Yu★★★★★
Really tasty food here! We ordered a few tapas and everything was great, especially the baby squid, swordfish roll, pig cheek, and beef. Service was fast for the first round, but a bit slower on the second. The place has a great vibe, very lively at night and can get busy. Prices are very reasonable. Overall, a great dinner spot.

We were there last Thursday for dinner and we weren't disappointed. We've eaten a meal without paying a lot of money and the atmosphere was quite nice due to the smilling staff. We've really enjoyed the food. Everything was simply amazing so - in my opinion - you should visit "La Bartola" and you won't regret for no doubt! 🤩
Jane Mathias★★★★★
The best food I had in all of Seville.. stopped by this place for late dinner during my recent trip to Seville and this place did not disappoint. We ordered their roasted lamb with cous cous, garlic shrimp croquetta (that was the croquetta of the day), pork cheek stew with potato purée and the chocolate panna cotta for dessert. We also ordered their sangria and tinto de verano. Every dish we ordered was AMAZING - tasty flavorful well seasoned melt in your mouth meat bursting with flavors. We devoured every bite and it was hard to pick a favorite. Both the lamb and pork dishes were 11/10. Not just the taste but the presentation of every tapa was fantastic. Their drinks were also great. The dessert was to die for. This place is super packed during peak dinner hours and there is barely any room to stand. Since we walked in around 11pm, we got a seat and were well taken care of all thru the night. Also noticed alot of veggie options on the menu which was great. Service was awesome ambience is chic. I am certain I am going to crave their tapas once I am back home. Highly highly recommend this place when in Seville.
Husna★★★★★
We tried several things, the anchovies, cheese, sushi verdura, stuffed zucchini, tataki de salmon, thai red rice as well as eggplant salad. The thai red rice was our least favourite but everything else was delicious. There is always a line up here around dinner time but the staff are amazing and get the line moving quickly. We were impressed with our server as she was gracefully attending to a dozen tables and didn't forget any of our requests.

Horrible! Be careful, girls, there's a waiter here who wears a ponytail and is super aggressive. My friends and I were terrified the other day. When we told him the water wasn't cold, he slammed the bottle on the table really hard, completely out of control, saying things we couldn't understand. We were so scared we ran out.

Food and service were excellent! A great stop after visiting the Alcazar. Really appreciate that the menu is in multiple languages. We had the garlic shrimp, spinach with chickpeas, spicy chorizo, shrimp pancake, and oxtail stew and everything was delicious! Sangria really hit the spot after hours of walking around on a hot day. Love that they served our bill with an aperitif.
Ankur Verma★★★★☆
Good vibes, friendly atmosphere, and the staff spoke Spanish with a little English, which added to the authentic experience. The washroom could definitely be improved — there was no soap — but overall we had a really good time. A special thanks to Jacqueline, who was absolutely amazing! Our daughter loved her and was so happy to take a picture with her. We ordered tapas and sangria, and both were amazing. The Spanish spinach with chickpeas especially stood out — it reminded me so much of Indian curry flavors. Delicious food and a lovely experience overall!

Do not get the Paella! The waiter welcomed us very kindly and treat us so well! We seated in a table for 2 and ordered 1 beer, 1 tinto de verano, 1 patatas bravas, 1 paella mixta, and 1 Fideua de mariscos. The drinks came very fast and the tapas was very quick to arrive, the potatoes tasted good and were spicy. The problem was the Paella and Fideua. Unfortunately it seems like the paella is frozen or comes straight to the fridge to an oven as it was cooked on top but soggy at the bottom + it was overcooked. The real fresh paella should be crispy and caramelized at the bottom (the “burnt” parts which is just the rice starch caramelized) and a little bit dry on top from the water evaporation. + the rice shouldn’t be mushy but have a texture. Its a little too overpriced for a frozen taste paella as we paid €22,50 each. We were expecting way more from the cuisine as the staff are so welcoming and the atmosphere is very nice. Not a horrible experience but I wouldn’t come back.

We had a great meal here. The salmorejo, rabo de toro, pulpo a la gallega, paella Valenciana, and sangria were all delicious. The staff were especially friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. Would definitely come back.

You definitely need to reserve in advance cause this place is very popular. The service is very nice, during a busy night I waited for a long time for my main course but it was merité. Next time I would like to try the roof top.
Gabriella Cervi★☆☆☆☆
I got food poisoning from here. Looking back my meal they served looked a little off but I trusted they knew better than I did what that type of dish should look like, and I knew depending on how pork is cooked the color can vary, so unfortunately I ate a few pieces and had to stop. The texture of my other appetizer was very chewy and rough too so not sure which was the culprit.
Brandon Young★★★★★
We stopped here for lunch after a tour and were very impressed. The food was delicious and our waiter was kind and friendly. You do have the option to eat in the street, inside the restaurant, or the rooftop. We choose the street. They have plenty of umbrellas for shade. The paella was amazing and the croquetas were delicious also. We would definitely recommend this place. It's an easy walk right up from the cathedral.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent experience at El Paseillo! We tried the Iberian Carrillada (€18), the Ensaladilla (€4.90), the Patatas Bravas (€5.20) and the Homemade Ham Croquettes (€6). Everything was absolutely delicious, with high-quality tapas that were perfectly prepared. The service was extremely fast and attentive. A special thank you to Tatiana, who was exceptional from start to finish. She was incredibly friendly and professional, and she speaks several languages, including impressive Portuguese, which made our experience even more enjoyable. Without a doubt, a restaurant I highly recommend and will definitely return to the next time I’m in Seville!

We had a wonderful experience at El Paseíllo in Seville. The seafood paella was delicious, full of authentic Andalusian flavours, and beautifully presented! The atmosphere was lively yet relaxed. Ricardo was friendly, attentive, and made us feel very welcome throughout the evening. Service was quick even though the restaurant was busy. The location is also excellent, right in the heart of Seville. I would highly recommended a visit here!
Claudia Lopez★★★★★
We had a lovely experience eating here! This local restaurant was right around the corner from our hotel. We were greeted warmly and seated quickly. My fiancé and I ordered Salmorejo con Huevo, Solomillo, Carillada y Vino Tinto. The food was delicious and our service from Jose was great! He gave us recommendations on what to order and we loved it. I would definitely come back!
Joanne Ko★★★★★
This is probably my favorite restaurant in whole Spain and I ended up going there three times! The food is good and service is good and I can't find any complaints. Some reviews stated that the paella comes out too slowly but that shows you that they are actually taking time to make it, rather than heating up the frozen paella. Their house wine is really good and the olives are one of the best I've ever had in Spain. I would love to go back there again!
Monique Diaz★★★★★
Croquets de jamon y pimientos Esteban muy buenos. We got a marisco and pescado paella(20pp), and also a vegetarian one (18pp) Both were big and deep plates. Be prepared to eat. Ezequiel took care of our table amazingly. We got a chipito in the end. Very taste cream de orujo. This all with one coke and two glasses of wine was 97EUR.

An absolute great experience at Chicuelo Bodeguita! The food was incredible. The salmorejo was so fresh, the burger was perfect, and the fries were amazing. Huge shoutout to our waiter, Jonaton, who was super friendly, attentive, and made the whole meal even better. Fantastic food and top tier service. Highly recommend stopping by if you are visiting Sevilla!

Food all tasted good especially the beef croquettes. Our server missed a few dishes and drinks we ordered multiple times however. We weren't charged for them so just seems he didn't put them in but it was confusing whether we had more food/drink coming.

We came here on our first night in Sevilla, had multiple tapas and some postres with drinks. Had an amazing time, great food across the board and enjoyed attentive service! Our favourite dishes were the salmorejo and the torrijas. Highly recommend this place!!
A Bart★★☆☆☆
Unfortunately reviews are very misleading. Place is very nice. Service is poor. We had prawns and octopus cold salad which tasted good but the seafood portion was ridiculous, barely any in it. Same for the duck croquettes. Tasty but little to no duck. Then we had paella, they told us waiting time was about 30 which fine with us. When arrived was very dry and bland. Big disappointment. We ordered a sangria which never arrived and then a second bottle of water that never arrived. Waste of money unfortunately
Jacquelyn B★★★★★
I stopped in for an early dinner after visiting a few sites in Seville and it was a great choice. The service, food, and wine were all great and made for a relaxing break from exploring the city. As a big fan of mussels, I had to order them and they were quite tasty. Everything felt fresh and well prepared. I would definitely recommend stopping in if you’re in the area.

amazing food, best oxtail and carrillada with deep rich flavours despite being located just opposite the cathedral, this is not a tourist trap, with average pricing and amazing food. came back on my second night for supper too. small tapas portions were available for most dishes too

We had a lovely dinner here while visiting Sevilla. Every tapa we ordered was delicious, especially the pork sirloin, garlic prawns, shrimp fritters, and aubergine with goat cheese. Our waitress was a lot of fun and wonderful with our girls. We weren't able to get an outdoor table, but ended up loving our seat inside. There was so much to look at, and we still had a great view of everyone walking along Calle Mateos Gago.
Ioanna★★★★★
The best place to enjoy tapas and have a glass of wine, with a very warm atmosphere and an exceptionally traditional setting—so much so that you find yourself admiring it the whole time. It’s ideal, especially given its location near attractions like the church. The staff are extremely polite and very fast. You simply can’t come to Seville and not visit this place!
Vandita Ramphul★★★★☆
I really enjoyed the atmosphere and the waiters were very friendly. The aubergine and goat cheese was very good. The crispy shrimp was a bit salty though. Overall was a good experience.
Veronica Alday★★★★★
We saw all of the high reviews and decided to give Bar Catedral a try, and we were not disappointed! Tinto de verano, vino de naranja, and sangria were excellent, not too sweet or overpowering. We also ordered Carrillada De Cerdo, garlic prawn croquettes, and the paella for 2. The paella was so large it was enough to share with my family of 5. I also wanted to highlight Gema who made our visit here very memorable. She was friendly, attentive, and hospitable! Overall, would recommend Bar Catedral for a reasonably priced round of tapas and drinks, accompanied by great service and friendly staff.

My friend and I went here based on the reviews.. lots of people praised the paella. We where seated right away, the interior was cute and charming . We asked the waiter for a recommendation between two different seafood paellas. We picked which one and waited. The appetizers where good.. nothing special. We finally got the paella after about 40 minutes. The waiter severed us and that's when I noticed it was the meat paella and not the seafood. My friend unfortunately doesn't eat meat so we had to scrape around for her to eat mostly just rice and a couple small clams. It wasn't until after we where done that the waiter confessed the order was wrong. She did offer a lemoncello as a sorry but for $25 a person for paella.. im not sure that was worth it.

staff were kind and accommodating - we had mistaken our reservation time, but they still managed to get us a nice indoor table which we were very grateful for. dinner service was polite and attentive throughout - not particularly memorable, but no issues at all. for drinks, we had the sangria blanca and tinto de verano - both were very good. for food, we had the valenciana paella which was flavourful and came with a good amount of meat and vegetables. we tried the arroz con leche for dessert - delicious, rich, and a very generous portion that we actually couldn’t finish. overall an enjoyable meal 🙂

⭐⭐⭐⭐ GUSTO – Seville 🇪🇸🍽️ Just a stone’s throw from the Royal Alcázar and Seville Cathedral, GUSTO is a handy refuge when sightseeing has you running on empty. 🏰🚶‍♂️ The food was decent, nicely presented, and the portions were generous enough to keep hungry travelers happy. 🍽️👍🏻🧑‍🧒‍🧒 The prices, however, seem to have picked up a few tourist stamps along the way. 💸😅 The atmosphere was lovely, the staff were genuinely friendly, and the overall vibe made for a pleasant dining experience. ✨😊 A special mention for their paella 🥘—it looked tempting and seems to be one of their popular dishes. Unfortunately, we weren’t hungry enough (or brave enough to commit to the price 😆), so we’ll have to leave that adventure for another visit. 👩🏻‍⚖️Verdict: Good food, decent portions, great location, warm service, and prices that gently remind you you’re dining in one of Seville’s most visited corner🔖⚠️🇪🇸

Had an amazing experience at Gusto in Sevilla. Velena looked after us from the moment we arrived — super friendly, attentive, and spoke excellent English (plus several other languages). We originally wanted to sit outside but there weren’t any tables available when we got there. She kept us on the waitlist and made sure we eventually got a great outdoor table so we could properly enjoy the Sevilla atmosphere. The food was phenomenal. We had the black paella (squid ink paella) and they were happy to customise it for us — swapping out the cauliflower and adding mushrooms instead. Absolutely delicious and one of the standout meals of our trip. Fantastic food, fantastic service, and a genuinely welcoming experience all around. Highly recommend if you’re in Sevilla. Also the Limencello Spritz!! Unreal

The croquettes deserve a special mention—they're honestly the best we've had in Seville! Crispy on the outside, creamy on the inside, and packed with flavour. The atmosphere was great too, with a really nice vibe that made the whole experience even more enjoyable. A huge thank you to our servers, Salvatore and Fatima, who were so welcoming, attentive, and friendly throughout our meal. They made us feel right at home and provided excellent service. If you're looking for delicious food, great service, and excellent value for money, this place is a must-visit. We'll definitely be back!

My husband and I shared the roasted pork knuckle dry rice dish and wow— this was maybe the best pork I’ve eaten in my life. So tender, so delicious. With the chipotle aioli… incredible. You have to go order this dish! We started with the tapas brioches shredded ribs and patatas bravas with chipotle mayo and those were both incredibly flavorful as well. This place is a must visit!

We were starving after a boat ride and stumbled upon this place without a reservation at 8pm. Their reserved table was arriving at 9pm so we pinky swore to be gone by than… hilarious waiters … to be honest we had a blast “rushing” through dinner…. The food was delish, the service was very personal and our waiter Salvatore was a true gem! Definitely recommend this place for the service and the food .. and the decor was super cute as well !!! If I ever come back to Seville this resto will be on my list ! ❤️

Bacao was/is an outstanding restaurant. We have traveled to Spain on numerous trips for months at a time and Bacao easily moves into our Top 20 for all of Spain. The atmosphere is intimate and cozy. The service is professional and kind. We ended up going back twice while in Seville. We ended up trying about a dozen dishes over both visits and enjoyed all of them with four being truly breathtaking. Bacao is soo good it gives us a reason to go back to Seville now besides visiting the famous Alcazar.

Tips for Dining Near La Giralda

Dining in a historic tourist center requires a bit of strategy to avoid the common pitfalls of overpriced menus and mediocre food. While the restaurants listed above are curated for quality, understanding the local dining etiquette will elevate your experience from good to unforgettable. The following tips will help you navigate the culinary scene like a seasoned Sevillian, ensuring you get the best value, the freshest food, and the most authentic atmosphere possible during your visit.

Reservations are non-negotiable for dinner. In popular spots, especially those with terraces or small dining rooms, walking in at 9:30 PM without a booking often means waiting an hour or being turned away. Call ahead or ask your hotel concierge to book a table for you.

Embrace the "Barra" (The Bar). Some of the best food near the cathedral is served at the counter. Not only is it usually cheaper to stand and eat, but you also get to watch the chefs work and interact with the waitstaff. It is the fastest way to feel like a local.

Check for "Menu del Día" at lunchtime. Many high-end restaurants offer a fixed-price lunch menu on weekdays that is significantly cheaper than their à la carte dinner menu. This is the best way to try fine dining near La Giralda without breaking the bank.

Be wary of "Paella" advertised with photos. Authentic paella is a Valencian dish, and while some places in Seville do it well, restaurants with large plastic pictures of food in the doorway are usually catering to high-volume tourism. Stick to Andalusian specialties like salmorejo, cola de toro (oxtail), or presa ibérica.

Understand the tapas versus media ración sizes. A "tapa" is a small plate, usually enough for a few bites. A "media ración" is a half portion, roughly double the size. Ordering a variety of tapas to share is the traditional way to eat, but if you are hungry, don’t be shy about ordering a media ración or a full ración.

Bring cash for smaller bars. While most established restaurants accept credit cards, some traditional tapas bars, especially those with high turnover, prefer cash for small bills or have a minimum spend for card transactions.

Step away from the immediate square. Generally, the quality of food increases and the prices decrease the further you walk from the very front door of the cathedral. A five-minute walk down a side street can be the difference between a frozen croquette and a hand-made one.

The area surrounding La Giralda is a living museum, and its restaurants are an extension of that history. Taking the time to sit down, order a glass of local Manzanilla sherry, and watch the world go by is as important to your trip as seeing the archives of the Indies. The food here is designed to be shared, savored, and enjoyed slowly.

By using this guide and following the local dining customs, you are setting yourself up for a culinary journey that matches the architectural beauty of your surroundings. Buen provecho, and enjoy every bite of Seville.
