12 Best Hotels Near CosmoCaixa Barcelona

Sitting high on the slopes of the Collserola hills, CosmoCaixa Barcelona is not just a science museum; it is an immersive journey into the natural world, featuring a spectacular indoor Amazonian flooded forest. While its location offers breathtaking views of the city, it sits slightly outside the typical tourist hubs of the Gothic Quarter or Eixample. Because of this unique positioning, choosing the right accommodation nearby is essential to balancing your visit to the museum with the rest of your Barcelona itinerary.

The area surrounding CosmoCaixa is characterized by upscale residential neighborhoods, particularly Sant Gervasi and Sarrià. These districts offer a stark contrast to the bustling city center, providing a quieter, more authentic Catalan experience. Here, you will find tree-lined streets, boutique shopping, and a culinary scene that caters more to locals than to tourists, making it an excellent base for families and travelers seeking a refined atmosphere.

When searching for a hotel in this area, proximity to public transport should be a key consideration. The museum is accessible via the FGC train lines, specifically the Avinguda Tibidabo station on the L7 line, followed by a short uphill walk or a bus ride. Staying near a metro or FGC stop will not only make your trip to CosmoCaixa easier but will also connect you seamlessly to Plaça Catalunya and the heart of Barcelona within minutes.

The hotels in this district range from historic modernist mansions converted into luxury lodgings to sleek, contemporary business hotels. Because this is a prestigious residential area, the standard of accommodation is generally high. You are less likely to find rowdy party hostels here and more likely to encounter plush bedding, excellent spas, and rooftop terraces with panoramic views of the Tibidabo mountain and the city skyline.

For families specifically visiting CosmoCaixa, space and comfort are paramount. Many of the best hotels in the surrounding neighborhoods offer family rooms or connecting suites designed to accommodate children. Additionally, the nearby green spaces and parks, such as the Parc de la Tamarita, provide a safe and beautiful environment for children to burn off energy before or after a day of scientific exploration.

Choosing this location also places you at the foot of the Serra de Tramuntana, giving you easy access to the Tibidabo Amusement Park and the Temple Expiatori del Sagrat Cor. After a day spent interacting with exhibits or riding the historic funicular, returning to a quiet hotel in Sarrià feels like a genuine retreat. You get the best of both worlds: the vibrant energy of Barcelona is a short train ride away, while peace and clean air await you at the end of the day.

To help you plan the perfect stay, we have curated a list of the best accommodations in the vicinity. The selection below prioritizes quality, guest experience, and convenient access to the museum, ensuring your visit to Barcelona is as enriching as the exhibits inside CosmoCaixa itself.

It was exactly what I needed: a nice little uncomplicated hotel to lay my head while I was in Barcelona. Easy access to public transportation, full continental breakfast, several quality stores and restaurants nearby. A special thank you to Miriam, who went out of her way to make sure I was able to get to my train on time. Service above and beyond!

There was a huge cockroach in the room as soon as we entered, and the room smelled like sewage inside. It was just awful. When we showed the administrator the cockroach that we had to catch ourselves, he simply shrugged his shoulders without offering any solution. Getting to the hotel in the evening from the airport is quite difficult.

The hotel is in a good location, but the air conditioning in the double room on the fourth floor wasn't very strong; everything else was fine.

The hotel is well located and beautiful. Unfortunately, it seems designed primarily for the male experience. It doesn’t supply conditioner

José served us at breakfast today. He is incredibly sweet and despite the language barrier and either of us not knowing each other’s language, we didn’t feel any words get lost in translation! He helped us out so kindly and it was truly a delightful breakfast experience with him! The breakfast spread too was absolutely amazing. The hotel is located very close to a metro station and is in a very pleasant neighborhood. The rooms were maintained well and we had a very pleasant stay too. Service across the board was top notch. Thank you team José and team Catalonia Park Guëll for a great experience

absolutely gorgeous Hotel the pool is fob and the view as well. The room had a built-in speaker which also was in the bathroom which suited us to tea! The staff are really friendly. There was freshwater available downstairs. The gym was 24 hours and the room was full fully equipped to everything we needed. Stephanie ln reception was a gem!

Great stay! The rooms were standard but clean and functional, and cleaned daily by housekeeping. Note that they don't have extra amenities like a kettle, slippers, or a mini-bar, but they do come with a TV, fridge, and a safe box. The AC worked perfectly during our stay in June, and the bathroom had excellent hot water pressure. The room itself was quiet, though we could occasionally hear some noise from neighboring guests. In terms of location, it’s about a 10-minute walk to the metro station, and from there, a 10 to 15-minute ride into the city center. The staff were very friendly. A huge highlight was the rooftop—it has a great pool and amazing views!

Fantastic two-night stay here. Room was a decent size, clean and very comfortable. The service and staff at reception were brilliant and helpful across the board, but I want to give a special shout-out to Yessenia - Her exceptional customer service and warm hospitality really made us feel welcome. Extremely patient and helpful. Thank you for a great stay!

Beautiful clean hotel. Some of the rooms have been renovated, and are definitely worth the extra money to upgrade. In a safe quiet area. Great breakfast buffet. Staff were kind and attentive. 10/10 would recommend.

This hotel was a very poor experience. The staff are not professional and even used profanity when speaking to me. The promise of the property falls very short of the experience. I upgraded to a jacuzzi and hamman room. The jacuzzi wasn't functional but no one seemed to be bothered. Housekeeping entered the room in the middle of the day and after repeated requests to leave, would not. The room was never cleaned. Upon departure, I was told to pay for an extra breakfast when my daughter came to visit. At no point did they tell me that it was a €25 charge. At check out the reception was excessively rude and dismissive. He used foul language with me and was aggressive. He kept repeating that it wasn't his problem. Neighborhood is wonderful. The service was extremely disrespectful. I don't know what kind of hotel this is but I it would never speak to a guest this way. This property is subpar. Avoid the property.

Stayed here for my birthday and had the best time. The room was stunning and spotless. Bed was super comfortable. Ofc the highlight was the sauna and jacuzzi bath , an absolute dream. The staff were also fantastic. I will be back very soon

The hotel is absolutely beautiful — both the building and its surroundings are truly stunning. On our first night, we were a little disappointed with a few things. However, after communicating this to the staff, they were incredibly kind and promptly upgraded us to a premium suite. We were so grateful, and it truly made our trip unforgettable. The staff here are all so lovely and attentive. A special thank you to Roderic and the other gentlemen on reception, as well as the team in the restaurant, for making our stay so wonderful. We can’t wait to return and stay again! Ebony Rose and Paul xxx

I highly recommend this hotel. It is one of the best, nicest, and cleanest hotels I have visited in the world. As for the staff, they are extremely polite, full of positive energy, and they treat each other like one family.💕 The cleanliness is outstanding, and the food is fresh and very delicious 🌺🌺 all appreciation to the chef. In the reception so helpful and wonderful John and Javier. I would also like to thank everyone Manuel, Marc, Julio, Rebeca, Javi and Rhode And absolutely room service lady Anna 💐 “I hope I haven’t forgotten anyone.” 💕 We will definitely come back again

Please read before you book: If you’re not looking to disconnect from the always loud and busy city center, this place may not be for you. The hotel has managed to perfectly blend in a seamless manner how luxury and coziness can dwell in the same location. We stayed in the Suite Tibidabo for our first anniversary, and the staff welcomed us with a cake and cava to celebrate. The room was clean and spacious, with a very comfortable bed, a big jacuzzi (perfect for 2 people), a sauna and an amazing hammam shower. Yes, everything inside the same room, available 24h a day only for us. Most hotels have a separate, shared spa area, or require you to reserve and pay extra for a private session, but here you don’t even need to leave your room. It was magical. The restaurant was also a beautiful surprise, both for brunch and dinner. Best croquetas, jamón ibérico and pan con tomate we’ve ever had. The staff were friendly and helpful, the library was a lovely touch, with its own fireplace and living-room-style area, and the surroundings felt very quiet and safe. You almost feel like you’re in a different city, even though you’re about 30 minutes away by car from the city center. We couldn’t be more happy to have found such a gem, and we hope we manage to come back.

Stayed for a weekend, lovely staff, very helpful and friendly. Got a glass of bubbly as a welcome. Pool has amazing views. Rooms are spacious and the beds are very comfortable. In general very clean. Location is not super central but easy to get around walking or underground. Definitely would recommend and hope to be back.

One of the best experiences we’ve had in Barcelona so far! The hotel itself was really nice, comfortable and well kept, but the real main characters of our stay were Diego and Eric. Their service was excellent and they made everything so fun, you could tell they genuinely care about making guests feel welcome. Highly recommend Hotel Catalonia Park Putxet if you want a great stay with staff that actually make a difference!
Paul Parent★★★★★
Catalonia Park Putxet is a practical, no-frills option set on the quieter slopes above the Gràcia district, offering a more residential feel compared to the busy city centre. Its location is one of its strongest assets: slightly elevated, it provides a sense of calm while still being within easy reach of key attractions like Park Güell and the lively streets of Gràcia, either on foot or by a short metro ride. The hotel itself is modern and functional rather than luxurious, with clean, straightforward rooms designed for comfort over style. Many rooms benefit from natural light and, depending on the floor, partial city or hillside views. While the décor is fairly standard, everything is generally well maintained and suited to short stays or city breaks where you spend most of your time exploring. Common areas are simple but efficient, and the rooftop pool is a welcome bonus in warmer months, offering a relaxed spot to cool off after a day of walking Barcelona’s hills. Service tends to be professional and efficient, focused more on practicality than personal touches, which matches the hotel’s overall positioning. Breakfast is decent, with a typical buffet selection covering continental and hot options—nothing particularly memorable, but reliable and convenient. Nearby, you’ll find bakeries, cafés, and local restaurants in the Putxet and Gràcia areas, which are generally more interesting than the immediate surroundings. Overall, Catalonia Park Putxet is a solid choice for travelers who prioritize location, value, and functionality over charm or luxury. It works especially well as a base for exploring Barcelona while staying slightly removed from the city’s busiest streets.
Rosi Stoyanova★★★★★
We had a great stay at this hotel. The location is excellent, with bus and metro stations nearby, making it easy to explore the city. Our room was comfortable and had a terrace, which we really enjoyed. The room was cleaned thoroughly every day, and the staff were always friendly and helpful. We also appreciated the luggage storage after check-out, which was very convenient for our late flight. Booking directly through the hotel’s website was a great experience and offered very good value for money.
Salima Etoka★★★★★
I stayed here for three nights while visiting my family in Barcelona—what a great experience! I had a double room and felt like I had plenty of space. The hotel smelled nice and was very clean. I visited the terrace a few times to enjoy the view of the city and take a moment to relax. I also found it easy to access buses and trains from the hotel’s location, which made getting around the city very convenient.

Fine hotel quite near to La Rambla. Quite close to the hotel there are bus stops and metro stations. Room was well lit and spacious. Supermarket and other stores are just a few meters away from hotel.

I was looking forward to staying at this hotel, despite the fact that it is located on a fairly noisy street. However, my experience before even arriving was disappointing. After making my reservation, I received an email on Friday evening at around 9 p.m. asking me to send my credit card details by email. I did not feel comfortable doing this, as I don’t believe it is safe or professional to request sensitive payment information through email. I suggested that, if payment was necessary, they could send a secure payment link instead. They eventually sent a payment link, but I had specifically booked a flexible rate that stated payment would be made at the hotel. I explained that I found it unusual to be asked for advance payment under these circumstances and that I did not feel entirely comfortable with the process. Rather than addressing my concerns or trying to reassure me, the hotel simply cancelled my reservation. As a result, I will never stay at this property. This was my experience with the hotel, and unfortunately it left a very negative impression before my stay had even begun.
Cedric Paulve★☆☆☆☆
I’m not usually the type to leave negative reviews for a restaurant or hotel—in fact, I think this might actually be my first time. However, I had the worst experience at this hotel. I arrived in the early evening, only to find a loud motor noise coming from inside the wall (not from outside), making it completely impossible to sleep in the room. Despite acknowledging the noise—which would have turned my night into a total nightmare—the staff simply offered me a complimentary breakfast. As if I’d even want breakfast after an all-nighter! They then offered a full refund at 8 PM in Barcelona If I left the room, in the middle of August, making it literally impossible to find another 3 or 4-star hotel at the last minute. Fortunately, I managed to find a decent hotel at the last second, but it was far from the city center, required a taxi at my own expense, and completely ruined the start of my evening in Barcelona.

Amazing stay at Catalonia Mikado. We really enjoyed our time there. The hotel was very clean and our room was cleaned every day, which we really appreciated. The staff were very kind and always happy to help us with anything we needed. They made us feel welcome from the first day. Breakfast was also very good, with plenty of choices every morning – both sweet and savory options, so there was something for everyone. Overall, we had a great experience and would definitely stay here again. Thank you for making our stay so enjoyable!

Be very careful when using the snack and drink vending fridge at this hotel. The machine charged €19 to my card even though I only took two chocolates. The remaining balance was supposed to be refunded automatically, but it never was.I reported the problem to the reception and was told it would be fixed. However, no refund was ever issued and no one followed up with me.This feels extremely misleading and gives the impression that guests are being overcharged. The lack of customer service and failure to resolve a simple billing issue is unacceptable.I would not stay here again.
Barbara Bidzos★★★★★
Hotel Catalonia Mikado is located conveniently on the bus lines and is in great walking distance to many shops, markets and restaurants. The hotel staff are very friendly and offer information on any questions you may have. Check in was easy and the room was small but had everything needed for comfort and safety. The breakfast is not included in the cost of the room but is offered at 17 eu and the quality and quantity is plentiful. The best part is there are many bakeries and cafe's open early with fresh pastries to please the most discriminating only steps from the hotel. It will be a place recommended to my family and friends.
Kathryn Saltzman★★★★☆
This hotel is well priced, particularly given that it is outside of the city center. It is conveniently located near public transportation, as well as markets, restaurants, etc. The gym is small but has good quality equipment. The only minor inconvenience was that a tea kettle was not available in the room. Overall, a pleasant stay.
Alice Howrad★★★★★
Lovely experience all throughout, easy check in, lovely staff, lovely small pool and jacuzzi. Nice room, on the smaller side but has everything you need. Fridge in the room kept our iced water with ice for 36 hours! Great air con in the rooms and very clean hotel throughout. Cant recommend this place enough. About a 15 min drive outside of the centre but easy to get in either via cab or public transport. Well worth being a bit further out as there are great food spots nearby the hotel and a bit more peaceful as a whole.

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights and had a wonderful experience. The location is excellent, the hotel is very clean, and all the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The breakfast bar had a great selection every morning, and everything was always fresh and delicious. A special thank you to Olga at reception — such a lovely lady who helped us numerous times during our stay and always made us feel welcome. Also, a big thank you to the lady in the buffet area who made perfect fried eggs for us every time we asked. The rooms were spacious, spotless, and the beds were very comfortable, which made our stay even more enjoyable. We would definitely come back again and highly recommend this hotel to others.

I had a very pleasant one-night stay at the Catalonia Hotel in Barcelona. The location was one of the highlights for me: it is situated in a quiet and peaceful area, close enough to the city center for easy access, yet far enough away to feel removed from the hustle and bustle of the city. The neighborhood has several excellent restaurants nearby, offering authentic local cuisine. Having great dining options within walking distance is something I highly value when choosing a hotel, and this location certainly delivered. The room was comfortable and well-equipped, with everything needed for a convenient stay. And ofc! the pool was phenomenal just right in the rooftop with a view for the Tibidabo
Bart Planting★★★★☆
The hotel was booked for me while traveling for work so I am more reviewing the experience without focus on the price. In general I had a good stay. Staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms however feel a bit worn as there are some damages visible. I could not open my room as the mechanism was broken, while when I first entered the heating was also blasting. There was no cooling available so it took some while to cool. Overal it was clean and the room cleaning was done properly every day to provide fresh linnen. What did surprise me however were the ash trays. Nowadays most hotels opt to be smoke free in the rooms as it can leave nasty smells for non smokers. Restaurant is recommended although not having the coziest lighting. Staff is very friendly, priced well and the quality of the food was good.
Mohammad Asfour★★★★☆
I stayed at Catalonia Barcelona 505 for a business trip and found it very convenient overall. The hotel is modern, clean, and well-maintained, with practical and comfortable bathrooms. The staff were friendly and accommodating, which made the stay even smoother. Breakfast offered a good variety and was a solid start to the day. On the downside, the hotel is a bit far from the older, more central parts of Barcelona, so getting around can take some time. Additionally, the elevators can be quite slow, especially during busy hours. Overall, a reliable and comfortable option for business travelers.
XO42★☆☆☆☆
The location was actually very good. The nearest bus stop was only a 2-minute walk away, and the city center could be reached in around 20 minutes by bus. However, the room cleaning was very poor, and the shower drain was clogged, causing water to collect while showering. The walls were extremely thin, so you could hear everything from the street and surrounding rooms, making it difficult to rest properly. The staff was also rather rude and not very helpful. Overall, the hotel was not worth the money and unfortunately one of the worst hotel experiences I have ever had.

Pros: Good~ value. The subway and bus stops are very close, and it's a 10 minute ride to Plaza de Catalunya. Has a supermarket right in front of the establishment. Friendly staff. Comfy bed. Cups in the bathrooms were a plus. TV had Netflix! Vending machines, coffee makers and infopacks are available in the lobby. Cons: The mattresses were dirty, mostly hair but still icky. Towels also had the same problem, with lipstick stains and so on. There is almost no hot water in the evening, and it takes a while to get it running hot at other times. Walls are VERY thin, hearing every laugh, every speech, every activity and every door being opened and closed was infuriating. Wi-Fi was not working. I know it's a cheap accomodation but it could have a shared kitchen or a minibar in the room, or atleast a kettle..

This unassuming hostel in the Garcia neighborhood was just what we needed. It was in an amazing little neighborhood with many tasty restaurants and charming squares to sit and eat and joy the families hanging out late into the evening. Our only issue was figuring out the water. We had some cold or too hot showers. We didn’t mind as the room was clean and just what we needed. Others have said the beds were too soft I found them absolutely perfect. Our last room was so hard I woke up sore every morning so this was great.

Staff was very friendly, rooms were clean. It was a very basic room, seemed a bit like a hospital room in terms of functionality. I liked that Netflix was included. The walls are very thin and I was able to hear a lot of what was going on on the floor and reception. Also I had practically no day light in my room as my room was located in some back alley between two buildings. Also I wasn’t really able to get fresh air into the room because of that as the air smelled like fried food (not in a good way). Well, I had a room and a bathroom to myself and for two nights that’s ok. Just for sleeping and Netflix it’s ok. Would not enjoy to stay longer than that, as there is no real comfort. The bed is totally ok though. Also my ceiling fan was very dusty and U didn’t want to use it because of that. A good thing is the location at the metro station and various bus stations.
Gabby De Wet★★★★☆
The booking process was smooth and without a problem. The room and bathroom we shared were small but adequate. Everything was clean. Staff at reception very willing to help and had good knowledge of the area. Metro 2 minutes walk away. Hotel well located. Walking down straight onto Place de Catalonia but its a long walk back as its uphill. Breakfast was available right across the road. Both good.
Ingar H. H★★★★☆
Very decent and cool hostel, it's a bit old, but good size on our room and same with the bathroom. Had a view towards the backalley. I'd recommend it if your just need a place as a base for your stay in Barcelona.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience was extremely disappointing. I booked the penthouse suite at ABaC Hotel specifically because it advertised a private jacuzzi — that was the main reason for choosing this room and paying a premium price. Upon arrival, the room itself was nice and the staff were polite. However, no one informed us at check-in that the jacuzzi was completely out of service. Instead of a working feature, it was essentially an unusable cold tub. This was never disclosed in advance or upon arrival, which feels like false advertising. When I brought this up, I expected a partial refund given that a major advertised amenity was unavailable. Instead, I was offered a discounted future stay, which is not an acceptable solution considering the circumstances. Overall, while the property itself is pleasant, the lack of transparency and resolution was very disappointing. Future guests should be aware that advertised amenities may not be guaranteed, and issues may not be communicated upfront.

I’ve been looking forward to staying at this hotel for some time and I finally spent 3 nights last Jul with my wife Facilities are nice, room is quite comfortable and it has nice perks, all good The real disappointment was the service and especially the breakfast. It looked like 2 completely hotels. Reservation experience: I did online and by phone to extend one night, very rude and cold Arrival: the how to enter the hotel’s parking is not obvious and they did little to nothing to help us when we called Breakfast: this was the oddest experience. The people serving ( there is no self service like in most hotels ) had no clue at any simple question we had while ordering, like ordering a charcuterie table they offer in the menu, each of the 3 days it was different and they looked at us like we were ordering going to the moon. They make you feel uncomfortable, they forgot to take the breakfast to the room after we asked for, the pastry was without any doubt the cheapest package you can find in a cheap supermarket, I’m not kidding, very far away from the pretentious they position themselves with the 3 Michelin star restaurant they have in the hotel. People serving breakfast need some serious training and they need more personnel too Most times, less is more and they created a breakfast experience which makes you feel like you are taking a test for college. They sent us a survey after checkout and I provided feedback with good intention for them to improve, I followed up and no reply which made me wanting to share the experience here Bottom line: nice building horrible service, don’t book this place
Judith Agoston★★★★★
This is an absolutely wonderful small hotel with personalised service, a beautiful building with a lovely garden and gorgeous sculptures to marvel in. The beds are super comfortable and the decor of the rooms neutral and practical. Breakfast is generous and delicious. Cristina and her team go over and beyond to make my stay special every time I return.

My partner and I just finished an apartment move and were tired. Our souls needed nourishment. We arrived by Cabify on Avenida Tibidabo 1 at a simple wall that said ABaC Hotel. We figured out the door pushed in and went into a courtyard with granite sculpture and small flowering gardens in a few neat boxes. We went to reception and were greeted by a staffer who explained services offered and then walked us to our upgraded room. Everywhere there was a thick silence as you realized that this twenty-year old hotel was the correct choice for your recovery and recharging. The room large in size for Spain features full length glass windows with the garden view. There is a king-sized bed, a divan desk and obligatory flat screen TV. Best of all was the bathroom complete with jacuzzi tub. Modern and minimalist in design while still being comfortable. We unpacked a bit and then proceeded to -1 level to the spa area. We discovered a warm pool with lounge chairs permanently installed, a plunge pool, wet and dry saunas and a large lap pool. We looked at each other and said Yes! Over the next two hours, our allotted time space, we sat in the warm chlorinated waters with massage jets. Dried out in the Finnish sauna and we drank our tea on the heated lounge chairs. Returning to our room, a siesta was in order. A few hours later was time for dinner at the in-house three-Michelin-star restaurant. A separate review is posted on Instagram. After 2.5 hours of leisurely eating it was time to return to our room. At midnight I got my bath and was very happy with hot water. Never could figure out how the jacuzzi works but will ask about this during the day. We slept soundly in the king- sized bed. Once again waking to the sounds of silence. The Spanish hoteliers understand sound acoustics much better than in several other countries we have visited. We will return again.
Aitana Rodriguez★☆☆☆☆
I think this might be the first time I have ever written a bad review. My family and I booked two rooms here specifically for the combined hotel and restaurant experience. While the restaurant is fantastic and I would recommend it any day, the hotel is incredibly average, overpriced, and a place I would strongly advise avoiding. From the moment we arrived, the front desk staff made us feel as though we were interrupting their day—hardly the greeting you expect from hospitality professionals. Ten minutes after checking into our room, several other guests knocked on our door saying they had been assigned the same room. The disorganization was immediately apparent. We could have overlooked that, but then we realized the AC wasn't working. It wasn't even an exceptionally hot day in Barcelona, yet the room was unbearable. We called the front desk, and on two separate occasions, they dismissively told us we just had the settings wrong. They eventually sent someone who fiddled with the thermostat exactly as we had, which obviously didn't fix the issue. Before heading down to the restaurant, we called again and were promised it would be fixed while we dined. No one ever came, and we barely slept that night due to the heat. When we went to the front desk at 9 AM the next morning to check out, we were told maintenance couldn't look at it until 1 PM. Because of the miserable night, we reasonably asked for a partial refund for a percentage of the room (not the full amount, and nothing for the restaurant). First, the desk staff claimed they "couldn't process refunds." When I pushed back, asking what happens if they simply input a billing number wrong on their end, the tone shifted. They rudely replied that they didn't offer the refund because "it can take up to a month to process." Adding insult to injury, they erroneously charged us for six breakfasts instead of four. They did refund the two extra breakfasts, but talked to us as if we should be immensely grateful that they were fixing their own mistake. Throughout the entire process, the staff has been unresponsive, and the manager, Claudia, has been incredibly rude and caught in outright lies. For instance, she claimed they couldn't send maintenance sooner because "they don't work on weekends," completely ignoring the fact that our stay was on a Thursday. If management responds to this review, I fully expect them to backtrack and claim that email was "meant for someone else." If you value where you stay, avoid the hotel entirely. Go have one of the best meals of your life at the restaurant, and then leave immediately. It is sad and ridiculous that such a brilliant concept and project created by the chef is completely ruined by incompetent, rude hotel management. If you made it this far and you still want to go: double check everything works before you settle into your room, double check your bills and pray they won't call a Tuesday a weekend :).

Peace and quiet, and very professional and helpful service. Getting everywhere in Barcelona is very easy because the metro is close by. If you need cafes or shops, there are plenty nearby. Breakfasts are delicious. I recommend it and thank you.

Great place. Not to much tourists. Easy to access the metro. Ice cold AC in the rooms. Breakfast delivered to the room. Not sure how this could be any better.
Anastasiia Vavilova★★★★★
Clean, well-equipped rooms with everything we needed, and a perfect little rooftop pool. Quiet location with great local cafés, just a short walk to the metro. Great value for the price — highly recommend!

Very noisy room. Breakfast starts late and has limited options. Location is good though, hotel is clean, and staff are friendly.

It a very descent Hostel the staff is friendly and there's many accomodations availabile , 2 beautiful gardens and everything you need to stay cosy. The best part for me was the location of Casa Barcelo, really close to everything in a very cool street and you even have Tradys open 24h facing the hostel at all times,

It's a cute small hostel, in good location , with very friendly staff and a basic-good enough breakfast but I found it uncomfortable. There is no privacy in the showers, not enough toilets and not a proper table to eat breakfast. It was busy while I visited so all these were kind of a problem.

What a delightful place to stay in Barcelona. The location is perfect and the staff friendly and accommodating. We had a great time. Very clean and the coffee was excellent.

Rooms were alright, but my mattress was sagging/had a noticable dip in the middle. Drawers were provided under the bed to store your belongings and they provided a lock free of charge too (to be returned after your stay) There are only four showers in total (per gender) and two toilets (per gender). This was sharing amongst all the rooms and beds so likely 50+ people. Hot water in the showers also ran out on 2 of the 3 days that we stayed here Location was okay. We walked everyday and it was about 40mins-1hr to get to most of the attractions in town but there is also a metro nearby

One of the worst hostel I ever visited Very dirty the room it's horrible. It's like a prison. I don't know how something like that in the middle of Barcelona. And we talk with the reception at first she don't want to give us the money back And we show her how dirty the room is And then she want to give us the half of the money back And at the end, we cancelled the booked Come on guys, would you sleep in that room?

The room was fine, a bit dated. We tried to fill the jacuzzi but things were spraying out of the jets, so we couldn't use it.
Xavi Giménez★★☆☆☆
Nothing to complain about regarding the comfort of the room: a large and comfortable jacuzzi, a large bed (and although some might find it firm, it was perfect for us), a good temperature, nice and warm, which was much appreciated on the day we went during a cold snap. Everything was fine; perhaps the only thing we missed was a small refrigerator, but we weren't there to keep drinks cold. However, there is a major flaw that overshadows everything. You can hear everything that happens in the hallway outside the room as if it were happening inside. This is an intolerable problem; it completely eliminates any privacy. Footsteps, conversations—everything is very clear and very close. And that, compared to the competition in the same sector, is a significant drawback that greatly diminishes its value. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend it.
Adrián Romero Estudillo★★☆☆☆
The room wasn't soundproofed at all; you could hear everything that was going on around you. The jacuzzi drain plug didn't close properly, and the water kept leaking out. The cleanliness wasn't the best, but it was passable. But the mattress... it was awful. The springs were sticking out, it was uncomfortable, hard, the pillows were very hard too, and overall it was very uncomfortable. I went with my partner, and we barely got any rest.

Essential Tips for Visiting CosmoCaixa and Staying Nearby

To ensure your trip to this incredible science museum is seamless and enjoyable, there are a few local insights worth knowing. Navigating the upper reaches of Barcelona requires a bit more planning than a simple stroll down Las Ramblas, but the payoff is significant. The following tips will help you maximize your time, save money, and experience the area like a seasoned local rather than a first-time visitor.

  1. Utilize the FGC Train System: The most efficient way to reach CosmoCaixa from the city center is via the FGC (Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat). Take the L7 line from Plaça Catalunya to Avinguda Tibidabo. From there, you can either walk uphill for about 15 minutes or catch the 196 bus, which drops you right at the museum door.
  2. Book Tickets in Advance: While CosmoCaixa is spacious, it is incredibly popular with local school groups and families, especially on weekends and rainy days. Purchasing your tickets online before you go will save you from standing in long queues and guarantees your entry time, allowing you to head straight for the flooded forest exhibit.
  3. Don’t Skip the "Bosc Inundat": The Amazonian flooded forest is the museum’s crown jewel. It is a massive glass structure housing over 100 species of plants and animals. To see it at its best, try to visit early in the morning when the light filters through the glass beautifully and the animals are most active.
  4. Explore the Surrounding Dining Scene: While the museum has a cafeteria, the surrounding Sarrià and Sant Gervasi districts are culinary goldmines. Venture a few blocks away from the tourist track to find traditional Catalan bistros and tapas bars. You will find better quality food and prices than in the more central tourist zones.
  5. Combine with Tibidabo: Since you are already halfway up the mountain, make a day of it. The historic Tramvia Blau (when operational) or the 196 bus connects you to the Tibidabo funicular. Visiting the amusement park or the church at the summit offers the best panoramic views in Barcelona, making it a perfect complement to the science museum.
  6. Wear Comfortable Shoes: The streets around CosmoCaixa are steep. If you choose to walk from your hotel or the train station, be prepared for an incline. While the neighborhood is beautiful and safe, the hilly terrain can be taxing, so comfortable walking shoes are a must.

Staying near CosmoCaixa offers a travel experience that many visitors to Barcelona miss out on. Instead of the constant noise of the center, you are greeted by the sound of birds and the gentle rustle of plane trees. It is a side of the city that feels lived-in and genuine, providing a sanctuary where you can relax after a day of sightseeing.

By choosing one of the hotels listed above, you position yourself perfectly to explore not only the wonders of science but also the natural beauty of the Collserola foothills. Whether you are traveling with curious children or are a solo traveler looking for a sophisticated base, this neighborhood provides a memorable and comfortable foundation for your Catalan adventure.
