12 Best Bakeries Near Casa de Campo

Stepping away from the manicured fairways and sun-drenched terraces of Casa de Campo often leads to one specific craving: the scent of fresh bread, butter, and sugar. While the resort offers world-class dining, there is a distinct pleasure in discovering where the locals go for their morning tostada or afternoon pastry.

Madrid’s surrounding neighborhoods are a treasure trove of artisanal baking, blending traditional Spanish techniques with modern trends. Whether you are staying at the resort or living nearby, you are never far from a bakery that treats flour and water as an art form.

The area surrounding Casa de Campo stretches from the historic streets of Latina to the bustling avenues of Moncloa. In these districts, ovens have been firing since the early hours of the morning, producing crusty sourdough loaves, delicate croissants, and rich chocolate-filled napolitanas.

Finding a truly great bakery requires looking beyond the tourist traps and understanding what makes Spanish baking special. It is about the quality of the wheat, the patience of the fermentation, and the generosity of the fillings. The best spots often sell out by noon, which is a testament to their quality and local reputation.

In this guide, we focus on the shops that offer more than just a sugar rush. These are establishments where bakers know their customers by name, where the coffee is strong, and where the bread has a proper, audible crust.

We have curated a list that balances historic institutions with new-wave bakeries that have revolutionized the Madrid bread scene. From sourdough specialists to traditional pastry houses, there is a stop for every craving within a short drive or metro ride from the Casa de Campo entrance.

Whether you are packing a picnic for the lake or sitting down for a leisurely breakfast, these bakeries provide the perfect fuel. Here are the twelve best options to visit when the craving for something baked to perfection strikes.

The best coffee in town! My favorite place in Madrid by far. Cocomad is just amazing. Great food, such a warm vibe, and really good prices. They also have the nicest staff! Lu speaks multiple languages and makes everyone feel welcome and Coni is always smiling. Perfect whether you go alone or with family. Highly recommend!

Extremely nice staff and super welcoming. It’s a very warm local and the staff are even better. They make u feel very welcomed inside and are super opened to help you. They are also very knowledge on different languages making them very flexible with different customers from different backgrounds. The food itself is very good and made with great dedication. It’s of a very high quality and carefully made to be traditional to Argentina, with the different sweets and salty options. I really recommend the pan the miga and the alfajores. I really recommend this place to everyone, and obviously to friends and family.

Best cheesecake I’ve ever had in my life! I found this cute little place by accident and decided to give it a try—great choice! The two girls, who I think are the owners, are super friendly and social, and they’re originally from Argentina. They offer a variety of traditional Argentinian desserts that all looked amazing and delicious! I had the banana caramel cheesecake, and it was heavenly. This place is definitely worth a visit if you want a taste of Argentina. P.S. One of the chicas is a fan of Flor Bertotti, which adds to the 5 stars! 🌟

The only regret I have is that I don't know when I'll come back in Madrid and have another experience at this place. The girls were very nice, they helped me pick a cake and it was absolutly delicious (banana&dulce de leche). An amazing, soft and perfect sweet taste. I truly recommend!!

This bakery is amazing. These desserts are to die for and the owners are so sweet. Key lime pie was creamy and tart. The lemon cheesecake was addictive but rich. This Oreo square was surprisingly light and makes you want to come back for seconds!

An excellent bakery near Plaza del Opera on a quiet street. Chef Trabanco is a true craftsman. His creations are beautiful and expertly prepared. So good with the perfect balance of flavors and texture. And he's a super nice guy! The bakery itself is a nice quiet spot away from the tourist spots (and the tourists).

Inside Santa Eulalia gives you the feeling like being in “little Paris”, with cozy old-world decor, books, plants, and exposed brick walls. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and you can really feel the care behind the place. The pastries and breads are clearly top quality, made with great ingredients and a lot of attention to detail. I had an excellent cortado with a DELICIOUS hazelnuts bun, the cakes and the breads looked incredible. Service was very friendly and English speaking. The space is quite spacious and with WiFi so you can enjoy the coffee and the pastries and also work there.

Excellent place to enjoy a sweet and also they have brunch with eggs! The sweets are just incredible! (Especially pain au chocolates with pistachio and chocolate) Also coffee was good and eggs were really good portion! Totally recommended!
Dhoha Rashed Alshalawi★★★★☆
Loved the sweets, but not the coffee. The cappuccino didn’t taste like a proper cappuccino—it was more like instant coffee and lacked foam. The coffee bar could be more organized and cleaner, especially since the main seating area is right in front of it. On the positive side, the staff are sweet, kind, and provide good service. The decoration and overall vibe of the place are authentic, and the location is great.

I love pistachio so much and they had the most amazing pistachio cinnamon bun. God it was so good. I also had a latte with their homemade vanilla syrup which was great. The line moved quickly and the cashiers are all so welcoming and friendly. If I lived in Madrid I would come here daily and it’d be worth the 15lb weight gain.

We came on Sunday / flee market day! So expect it to be busy! We wanted around 12/15min to get served and another 10min to get the coffee in our hand. There is staff everywhere which is good but it's super busy so don't expect any special treatment. There is so much in offer here for the customer from breads to oasterys to cakes. Take ya pic they look all delicious. There is some organized chaos which didn't seem to crazy to how busy it was just follow the line which started outside. The staff was super friendly, there is only one toilet here, at the time I use there was so toilet paper left in the bathroom which I mentioned to the front of house person and she went and filled right away.
Sofia Biegeleisen★★★★★
This is a lovely little cafe. The coffee and pastries both delicious and beautiful. The prices are very reasonable and much better value than any chain cafe. Highly recommend!

If you’re in Madrid, Boulangerie Panadería Novo Mondo is an absolute must. And the pistachio croissant… OOOOOOH MY GOD. An absolute delight. Perfectly flaky, filled with a pistachio cream that’s rich but never overwhelming, and that little crunchy touch that makes you close your eyes in pure happiness. It’s the kind of pastry that makes you say, “okay, I’m coming back tomorrow.” A spot every foodie should keep on their Madrid list.

Such a charming two-floor café! Super cozy and welcoming. The food was genuinely tasty, and the service was kind and attentive. At least part of the staff speaks English, which made things easy for us. We ordered the tuna sandwich and the egg & avocado sandwich — loved both! The juices, coffee, and pastries were all fresh and really good. Highly recommend stopping by ☕✨

during my stay in madrid i’ve tried a lot of empanadas and this one was one of the best ones. the interior was cozy so was the atmosphere. service was perfect so i’m sending warm hugs to the barista who helped us with wine and cups:) too bad i visited in late hours so i couldn’t try coffee here highly recommend!

Small but nice place and friendly staff. Today we had toasts with natural tomato, fresh avocado and a very good quality ham. A bit dear but it worth the price.

Cafe de la Riviere is one of the many cafes and restaurants on Paseo de La Florida. I just happened to walk past after visiting Parque del Oeste and need to early evening snack. Not sure if the food was fresh as the girl had to microwave the cheese and onion pastry for me. I also got a strawberry milkshake. Both were average only, the milkshake look like frothy milk and the flavour was just strawberry flavoured syrup.

Amazing bakery with perfectly flaky, buttery croissants and rich Illy coffee. Cozy atmosphere and great service—highly recommend

I discovered this shop by chance while walking on my old Chamberi neighborhood. They had a sign saying "pan de verdad" (true bread). I ordered a "pan de verdad" like the ones shown in the picture. At lunch time I could confirm that it trully was true bread. The best I have eaten in some time!
Fermin Andujar★★★★★
Alfredo, the owner, is a super carismático and intelligent guy. This place is a gem with affordable prices for what the quality these guys are dishing out. I got the carrot cake and sour dough bread and am in heaven. Def give it a shot if you're around.
Diana Nguyen★★★★★
This is an absolute gem of a bakery in Madrid. I wish I was here long enough to have come here more throughout my stay, but I’m at least happy to have had it once. I tried the almond croissant and it was divine. The staff was super kind and patient while we looked over everything and decided what we wanted to have.
Anna★★★★★
Bread heaven! This bakery proves that all breads are not created equal! We tried all of the bakeries in our neighborhood and Vanille is our favorite by far. Even beats the fancy bakeries in Almagro.
Carlos Euro De Frutos Torres★★★☆☆
The quality of the products is amazing. The kind of the lady attending to the public is awful. She is not rude. However, to be facing the public, you have to have "don de gentes" and unfortunately, she has really no clue how to take care of people. She should be more humble and nicer to the customers. At the end, no customers have no business.

A pastry lovers delight. I was pretty sure I wanted to get only their famous chocolate napolitana and it did not disappoint.. decadent chocolate cake (ish) inside a buttery airy puff pastry. Heaven in a bite. Not too sweet and perfect for some one like me who doesnot have a sweet tooth. They have huge lines but they move pretty fast. So dont give up. Also there is no chance of them being sold out since they keep bringing out freshly baked goods. Good place to even bring back baked gifts for friends and family. Centrally located at Puerta del Sol. Highly recommend this spot.

La Mallorquina is a lovely café with delicious cakes, especially the Ensaimada. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. Definitely a nice place to enjoy a sweet treat.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Visiting La Mallorquina is stepping into a living piece of Madrid’s culinary history. Located in the heart of Puerta del Sol, this iconic pastry shop delivers not only exceptional quality but also tradition and charm that have endured for generations. Their pastries are simply outstanding, fresh, delicate, and crafted with precision. The napolitanas, ensaimadas, and classic Spanish pastries are rich in flavor, perfectly balanced, and absolutely unforgettable. The aroma alone invites you in, and every bite confirms why this place has remained a beloved institution for so long. Whether paired with a coffee or enjoyed on their own, their creations reflect true mastery of traditional Spanish pastry. The service is efficient despite the constant flow of visitors, a testament to its popularity and reputation. La Mallorquina is more than a pastry shop, it is part of Madrid’s identity. A must-visit for anyone who appreciates tradition, authenticity, and exceptional sweets.

04/04 西班牙人擠爆的麵包店,點了一個可頌,點餐要直接跟店員喊 The Pastelería La Mallorquina - Sol is one of the most famous traditional pastry shops in Madrid, located directly at the Puerta del Sol, one of the city’s busiest and most central squares. Founded in 1894, La Mallorquina has become an iconic stop for both locals and visitors seeking classic Spanish pastries in a historic setting. It is especially known for its elegant ground-floor pastry counter and its upstairs café, where customers can sit and enjoy views over the bustling Puerta del Sol. Signature items include napolitanas de chocolate (chocolate-filled pastries), palmeras, milhojas, and a variety of traditional cakes and baked goods. The pastries are typically rich, buttery, and made in the classic Madrid confectionery style. Today, La Mallorquina remains one of Madrid’s most recognizable pastry institutions, valued for its central location, long history, and consistent quality, making it a popular stop for a quick breakfast, afternoon coffee, or sweet break while exploring the city center.
Aaliya Tariq★★★★★
Loved La Mallorquina 🎀 Such a cute bakery with a cozy vibe. We had breakfast here and everything was amazing. The croissants were huge, soft, and slightly sweet, and the Napolitana (especially the cream and chocolate one) was a highlight. Definitely one of my favorite spots in Madrid!

Santo has quietly become part of my routine. The bread is easily the best you’ll find in town. I already have my favorites (the cardamom bun and the canelé), but honestly, the best thing you can do is let yourself try something new each time. Walk in, breathe in the smell of fresh bread, pick something you’ve never had before, and enjoy it slowly. The staff are lovely and there’s a real warmth here, not just from the ovens. And the pastries… truly to die for.

This Panadería is a Hidden Gem in Madrid. Employees were truly kind and had better words that I have encountered for understanding their food. Quality is so invaluable. Texture was Crispy and buttery but not greasy and lean.

I’ve been here 3 times and every time the service has been absolutely lovely. I appreciate that they take their time with each customer to answer questions, give recommendations, and make comfortable conversation. Besides the amazing workers, their pastries and bread are top tier. I’m writing this after eating the Za’atar, Feta, and Sesame roll and I’m stunned. The coquito with the coconut and coffee combination also pleasantly surprised me. I don’t think you can go wrong with anything here.

An address I'll definitely remember and highly recommend. My first lemon tart since being diagnosed with celiac disease. It was delicious. The brioche was perfect! It felt like eating one just like I used to. There's a small grocery section. I really enjoyed the atmosphere, the decor, and the service. I can't wait to go back.
Shiri Z.★★★★★
Small cute place, good service, not a lot of variety, but enough to get what you want, we had sweet cinnamon bread with cream cheese and fruit, which was really nice, tasted a little bit like French toast, toasted bread with avocado which I found tasty, for my son was it a bit hard, and a really good lemon pie! Definitely recommended!

Absolutely fantastic gluten free cafe. This location has tables in the back with sandwiches, breakfast, and salads that smaller León locations don’t offer. The owner and staff are very kind and helped us navigate the options with our limited Spanish, and everything was wonderful. We came here every morning for breakfast! Even if you aren’t gluten free, you’ll love this place!

I had a great experience at this bakery. I tried the cherry cinnamon roll and it was absolutely delicious — the dough was soft, fresh, and perfectly balanced, and the cream on top was just incredible. The chocolate cookies were amazing too — not too hard, not too soft, just perfect in texture and flavor. Even the Americano coffee was very good and complemented everything nicely. Definitely a place I would come back to again and again.
Clara Schwegmann★★★★☆
Great place for cinnamon rolls. We tried lotus, Oreo and pistachio. They were really soft and not too dry. They look gorgeous but personally I think that they could use a little more filling - especially since they are very expensive. Also, they don’t have a regular cinnamon rolls with just cream cheese which we found a little disappointing.
Gjorgi Andonovski★★★★★
Great spot in La Latina! Salt in Cake Naturalería has really tasty cinnamon rolls, I tried the cookie one and the pistachio, and both were amazing. Soft, fresh, and full of flavor. Definitely worth stopping by if you’re in the area!
Chanel M★★★★★
Awesome spot for a sweet treat. They are most popular for their cinnamon rolls but personally, I think their cookies are a standout. Try the pistachio, chocolate chip, and Oreo cookies! The service is friendly/helpful also. The only downside is the price $$$
Julii★★★★★
I dont understand these reviews... it was absolutly incredible! Not dry or soemthing... BUT if you want a really sweet one i think its not the right place. Because of the natural ingredients its not extremly sweet like the normal cinnamonroll from the supermarket, but for me as a fitness person its was perfect because i normally dont like the absolut sweet "normal" ones.

This place is right next to where we stayed, and we were lucky to discover it for some really good coffee and delicious bakery items. They offer a nice brunch menu with eggs benedict, croissant, granola, fresh orange juice, and coffee, which all looked very appealing. Since we weren’t too hungry, we tried simpler options like croissants with cheese and a few pastries, and everything we had was tasty. Service was a bit mixed, not everyone was very warm or smiling, but the friendly staff definitely balanced that out. On weekends it can get quite busy, so you may need to wait in line. Overall, a nice and convenient spot for breakfast or brunch.

I was lucky enough to stumble on Pum Pum visiting my daughter in Madrid. If you are in the area it's a must for everything. Reuben, and everyone is so friendly and helpful. After a few days they actually remembered me and had batch brews ready, which was the perfect coffee to pair with their Bacon Egg and Cheese roll. I'm not lying when I say this is the best breakfast sandwich I've ever eaten! Thank you to everyone at Pum Pum, I hope to make it back soon and sit in the sun in your beautiful cafe. Thank you so much from me and my family, Vale Vale!!!!!!

Lovely little bakery in the center of Madrid. The staff were really nice and accommodating ( me and my friend didn’t speak much Spanish ). The pastries and coffee are amazing. Only thing I would bare in mind is that it says on Google maps that they open at 8:30 but when we went they weren’t and told us that they don’t usually ( maybe they need to update the timings? ) but other than that I would recommend for a cute little cafe spot! 🙂

Great pastry shop, everything is delicious and has a really good price. Except the personnel is not so nice, they avoid interacting with you as much as possible even though you have to order directly with them and never say thanks or greets customers. Other than that would recommend this place without second guess.

This shop was amazing 😍. Wow...their selection was massive! From packaged cookies , to pastry, to baked cake, and freshly assembled breakfast! Good tortilla and coffee. Great price point. Service was fast and efficient.

It looks cute. However, the experience was not good. The waiters seem stressed even though the place was half empty. I requested a table for one and I was ignored while they accommodated people that arrived after (they take no reservations and the whole lower floor was empty). The food was ok but forgettable. Very lame flat white, eggs and bacon were like in any ordinary cafeteria.
Joe Robinsmith★★★★★
Made it before it got really busy. Food was out very quickly. The Andalusian breakfast with Iberian ham on whole wheat with grated tomato was incredibly delicious. The natural breakfast of yogurt with fruits and seeds was so tasty. Cappuccino was piled high with foamy milk. Loved it.

Great breakfast spot in Madrid! Excellent coffee, delicious pastries, and a cozy atmosphere. Highly recommend🥰

Very affordable price with good breakfast, simple and makes you full! It’s a hidden gem in the city center if you want to have some traditional breakfast without paying 20 euros
Maria Mendieta★☆☆☆☆
Maybe I came on a bad day, but the food was terrible. I ordered the Desayuno Americano and it was barely edible. The “bacon” was just heated up slices of ham, so salty it was inedible for me. The scrambled eggs were just ok. The toast was tough and over toasted. The coffee was burnt and again barely drinkable. The juice was fine. The bacon/ham was actually barely cooked at first and I had to send it back. (Attached picture is of the bacon AFTER they refried it, still looks terrible). No apology. Overall very disappointing. Do not recommend at all.

Tips for Choosing the Right Bakery

While the list above offers the best of the best, knowing how to spot quality is essential for any traveler. The bakery scene in Madrid is competitive, but a few key indicators separate the truly artisan shops from the mass-produced chains. Keep these practical tips in mind to ensure you always walk away with the best product available, whether you are visiting one of our recommended spots or stumbling upon a new one.

1. Follow the Sourdough Scent
If a bakery claims to be artisan but lacks the distinct, slightly acidic aroma of fermenting dough, be wary. True sourdough (masa madre) takes hours, sometimes days, to develop. A quality bakery will smell like toasted wheat and yeast, not just sugar.

2. Check for a Visible Oven or Workshop
The best bakeries are proud of their process. Look for establishments where you can see the bakers working in the back or where the ovens are visible from the counter. If the bread arrives pre-frozen in boxes, you are likely not getting the artisan experience you seek.

3. Ask for "Pan de Pueblo"
If you want the true taste of Madrid, ask for rustic bread (pan de pueblo) or a "barra de cristal." The crystal bread is a Madrid specialty—light, airy, and incredibly crispy. It is perfect for pairing with jamón or tomato spread.

4. Timing is Everything
Spaniards eat late, but bakeries open early. For the best selection of sweet pastries, arrive between 9:00 AM and 11:00 AM. For fresh bread, lunchtime (around 1:30 PM) is often when the second batch comes out of the oven, still warm.

5. Look for the "Croissant Artesano" Label
Many places sell industrial croissants that are greasy and heavy. Seek out shops that specify "mantequilla" (butter). A true artisan croissant should be flaky on the outside, soft and honeycombed on the inside, and should never leave a film of grease on your fingers.

Taking the time to find a genuine bakery transforms a simple breakfast into a cultural experience. The difference between a loaf that has been fermented for 24 hours and one that has been rushed is night and day. By supporting the shops that prioritize craftsmanship, you ensure that these traditional methods continue to thrive in the neighborhoods surrounding Casa de Campo.

Next time you leave the resort gates, skip the standard hotel toast and venture into the local barrios. The warmth of a freshly baked loaf and the richness of a perfectly laminated pastry are worth the short trip.
