The place was quite ok. The food was good but nothing that I blew my socks off. I felt like the restaurant itself was a bit touristic. Staff was accommodating and nice.
Tim Atanacio★★★★★
Incredible restaurant! The food tasted extremely fresh and authentic and was served quickly. Marci (I believe he’s the owner) was incredibly kind and accommodating. Even though there wasn’t a table available for my party when we arrived, we only had to wait for less than 10 minutes.
Now about the food. Each bite kept getting better and better! We ordered the Jamon Imperico, Bull Tail Gyoza, Honey Eggplant and the Crispy Fried Pig Ear and all of them were delicious! This was also enough food for 4 people. The jamon especially was some of the best we had during our trip. We would definitely come back!
Anastasija Damjanovska★★★★★
Great place for tapas. There might be a bit of a wait, but totally worth it. Everything was super delicious, staff was nice.
Charles Vouvalis★★☆☆☆
Although the atmosphere seemed inviting, we were disappointed in the end.
First, the service was a bit slow. And not the friendliest we had encountered while on our trip. So not a good start.
When reviewing the menu, we ordered several tapas for the table. Once they arrived, we sampled all and felt the food lacked freshness compared to all the others we tried over the last several days.

Yummy food! Good portions! Good drinks! Nice small place with good service. The guys are funny too. Gave us Americans some shots and recommendations for churros as they were closing late on a Sunday night. Awesome experience! The area outside is very nice too. Shops, more restaurants and good views.

The food and the service are equally exceptional. I was greeted with warmth and attention the moment I walked in. Every detail of the food presentation was carefully thought through and on point to the sifonería theme. The whole experience was immaculate and a must if you’re in Madrid.

Great food! We loved the beef cheek tapas. Amazing!

You have to go here!
But make a reservation. We were lucky enough to be squeezed in between reservations. Don’t chance it. Book ahead.
The food was amazing. Literally everything we had was awesome.
The sangria was made with some type of cold foam lime something and some of the best I’ve had. The butterfish ceviche was mind blowing and served with “ice cream”. Trust me - order it.
We also had pork, dumplings, bao buns, tuna and a crazy good dessert. All fabulous.
Hats off to Dani, Diego & Jose for making the last night of our vacation spectacular.
Thanks, guys. 🫶
We will always remember your hospitality!
*Sorry - we forgot to take pictures of the food. But here is one of us full and happy.

I was there with friends and we had a lovely evening. It’s not a big place so make sure you book a table in advance.
The staff is attentive, friendly and helpful.
The tapas bravas, croquettes, pan bao, wok were delicious and prices were normal and no doubt I’d go back.
Robert Moore Cardo★★★★☆
I enjoyed eating at this restaurant. It has variety of international dishes fused with Spanish traditional flavors. A unique thing about this place is that they serve cocktails, which is rare in Madrid unless you go to a cocktail bar. The place is relatively small, so without a reservation you probably won’t get in.

We went here hoping to find traditional tapas. It is a tapas bar in that you get small plates with each drink you buy - great! We had a few lovely dishes and a few below average dishes, some of which were quite large - so we had more food than we needed. Waiter was very friendly. Some of the English translations on the menue were not as literal as they sounded e.g. tacos = came with bread, candied = had small pieces of ham on top. Definitely recommended for a glass of wine or two and the free tapas plates. The Russian salad and the sardines were the best dishes we had there.
A. Moreno★★★★★
Decent drinking hole. Stopped here because outside it was roasting. Nice cold beer. Decent music and Nice happy staff.
Kevin Williams★★★★★
Nice size portions compared to all the Tapas places in Madrid. As for the service, in all of Spain, there’s no rush to clear the table for another group of people. The US should adopt this methodology.
Not working for tips is a concept that all restaurants in the US should adopt. Maybe I’ll open the first restaurant adopting this European concept 😉
Brenden SSJ★★★★☆
Good place to stop and eat especially when you're waiting for sunset to go see the Egyptian ruins in the park next to it.
Got sandwiches, quesadillas, anchovies, nachos and drinks. Everything was good but nothing particularly wowed me.
Would go again on another visit.
Michael Pomarico★★★☆☆
Met friends for beer and Tapas. It did the job, but we think the chicken kabobs were under cooked.
It’s a nice atmosphere though and we enjoyed the time together there.

Wonderful choice all around. Run by this beautiful old couple, our experience couldn't have been any better.
We ordered the baby squids salad, codfish carpaccio and, the big surprise, the Black pudding mille-feuille with caramelized apple and honey mustard. This last one is a must!
If you stop by Madrid, don't miss out on this special and lovely bar.

One of my favorite meals in Madrid - and I live in NYC! The toastada with eggs cheese and avocado was amazing. 5/5

Wow—now I completely understand why they earned a TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice Award. The place was buzzing the entire time, yet everything ran smoothly. Service was fast and effortless, even for non-Spanish speakers, the food was delicious, and the beer was perfectly cold.
I got
Tosta Especial Taberna
Solomillo, mostaza, bacon, brie, pimiento y cebolla caramelizada ( huevo frito + 0,5€), and 2 beers for 14euros. Im coming back tomorrow.
If you’re in Madrid, make the effort to get here—you won’t regret it. Easily a 10/10 experience.

Lovely spot! We were surprised by the hospitality of the staff, who made great recommendations and even introduced places to visit for us. Highly recommend if you are looking for local vibe, great Spanish omelette, and other comfort food options.
Sunmi Choi★★★★★
It very friendly local restaurant. Prices are very reasonable. My hotel is near this restaurant, so I came here almost every morning. (Since it is not tourist area, usually i am the only non local). Each food prices are already amazing but if you choose lunch specials(€9.9) it comes with small salad, 1 drink, 2 small main menu, and even coffee. Amount food also enough.
Fran C★★☆☆☆
I honestly don't understand how a place can have QR code only menus and not offer Wi Fi. Not everyone has mobile data, especially tourists who have just arrived and may not have a local connection yet.
We ended up just having a drink and leaving. The service was rude, and the whole experience felt unwelcoming from the start.
Koushik Chakraborty★★★★★
Absolutely fantastic place with local vibe. Most importantly, despite speaking only English we were treated with so much hospitality. The food is to die for. You cannot find a better value and service in the whole of Madrid.

My husband and I came here for dinner for our last night in Madrid and we enjoyed every single plate that we tried, and the service was great too. The restaurant was welcoming, friendly, cozy, and no reservation needed. Our food and drinks came out fast! Plus our server, Leidy, was the best! 🙂
Jaskirat Kaur★★★★★
Had an amazing early dinner at Tapa Tapas and it was delicious! Lade was our server and she was so patient and helped us out what dishes to get.
Danny Bates★★★★★
I appreciate the service levels in people's reviews, as we (table of 10), found it slow to begin with, popped on 3x tables for 3, so one was cramped with 4, but its not a restaurant specifically for large bookings, and when we were in, we were looked after. The food took a while to come out but the whole restaurant was busy, constantly, so what do you expect. I think overall, the food was delicious and our group enjoyed it.
Mia McDonald★★☆☆☆
Food was very disappointing - I got the Lomo. The meat was extremely hard. This tonic also made my Hendricks hard to enjoy. Lessons learned. Good service. Nice atmosphere.
Kévin H★★★★★
I had an amazing time at this restaurant. The food was incredible from start to finish. Everything came out hot, fresh, and full of flavor. Our server, Lily, really made the experience special. She was super friendly and gave us some great recommendations on the menu. She checked on us just the right amount of times to keep our drinks full without hovering. It is rare to get such thoughtful service. I highly recommend stopping by and asking for Lily's section.

El Minibar is an absolute gem in Madrid! The food is wonderful, offering creative and delicious tapas like the award-winning Tapa Bretón. The atmosphere is incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home instantly. On top of that, the space is beautiful, cozy, and full of character. It is the perfect spot for a casual yet memorable dinner. Highly recommended!
Tom Klopack★★★★★
A small place near central Madrid. Air conditioned which was a savior today at 98degrees. Had a tomato and lettuce salad, gazpacho, spiced potatoes and fried cod with shrimp. Everything was excellent and in tapas portions was more than enough for two people. All washed down with beer. The menu is larger and varied and portions can be tapas sized or larger for sharing with a bigger group. Definitely worth a lunch or dinner stop.

★★★★★
Excellent tapas experience in Madrid. I came here on a Sunday afternoon around 1:00 PM right when they opened, and within a few minutes the place filled up quickly. I didn’t have a reservation, but since I was dining solo they were kind enough to seat me. You may want reservations if you’re coming during busy hours.
I had the melted goat cheese appetizer with what tasted like fig jam and a balsamic glaze, paired with the bread they served, absolutely delicious and very rich in the best way. I also ordered the ham croquettes, which were excellent as well. Between those two dishes and two Cokes, it was more than enough food for one person.
The atmosphere is quaint and very Madrid. The staff was efficient and friendly. I read many great reviews beforehand and after eating here I understand why. A local favorite. Highly recommend if you’re looking for authentic tapas in central Madrid.
Timothy Redman★★★★★
My dining companion and I were looking for a quick drink and snack after touristing hard. We found this cozy place right off the main drag. We ordered drinks, and food, tuna tataki, and the duck confit. Both delightfully tasty, savory, and rich. What a treat! Our appetite satiated, we once again took to the crowded streets of Madrid.
Josh Siu★★★★★
Food was good. Service was good (although we heard one of the servers be a bit curt with the next table about having to buy food to sit at the table, not just drinks). They offered a free little tapa while we waited for our food. Space is a bit smaller so you might be at the bar during a busy time.
My spouse wanted lemonade but they didn’t have any. When asked for water with lemon and they cut an entire lemon to add to her water - awesome!
What to got:
- ham croquettes
- shrimp croquettes (a hint of spiciness)
- crispy wild boar (in a spring roll deep fried outer layer)

Love the food, cachopo with really good meat without any nerves even in the edge. Alcachofa with bull tail is just a genius combination. Only thing is that there's time limit, hut the problem is that waiter is coming continuously asking if you have finished while we still have things on the plate..
Rick★★★★★
We picked this almost at random, based on reviews and where we would be for our last meal before heading to the airport.
It was absolutely outstanding. Kind, attentive service from the lovely waiter and manager. Superb food and wine - the paella was beautiful, dessert was sublime and the extras of gazpacho and little cubes of cheesecake with fruit puree were appreciated. The wine and vermouth were also top notch.
We must have looked a little rough around the edges, dragging suitcased through the midday heat. But we were welcomed, made very comfortable, and treated to one of the best meals we had in Spain.
Prices were extremely reasonable too.
Juan José Díez★★★★☆
Nice place with very good food from Asturias. The cachopo was amazing.
Berta Mirabal★★★★★
Excellent food and excellent service. The goat cheese balls with honey and caramelized onions were amazing!!! The fabada was spectacular!!! Carrillada was delicious as were the breaded fish and the fish in sidra. We will definitely be going back!
Faith S★★★★★
Enjoyed a lunch here. Main with grilled scallop with garlic. And then they offered me a free desert!
I love the scallop which is perfectly cooked. The inside with a little bit raw which give a good texture. I really love this dish.
The garlic is the sour one which can boost up the appetite. However when matching with the scallops, the garlic may be too strong to cover the original taste of scallop.
Love the vibe and service here. Highly recommended

Essential Tips for Enjoying Tapas Near Temple of Debod
Before you set out on your tapas crawl, it helps to understand a few local customs and logistical details. The Spanish dining schedule and bar etiquette are unique, and knowing how to navigate them will significantly enhance your experience. These tips will help you eat like a local, avoid common tourist pitfalls, and ensure you get a seat at the busiest bars.
Time your visit strategically. Lunch service typically starts late, around 1:30 PM, and dinner rarely begins before 8:30 PM. If you arrive at 6:00 PM, many kitchens will be closed, offering only cold snacks. Aim for the early afternoon or after 8:30 PM to experience the full menu and vibrant atmosphere.
Embrace the "Barra." The counter is the heart of any Spanish tapas bar. It is where you can see the fresh ingredients on display and order directly from the staff. Standing at the bar often gets you faster service than waiting for a table, and it places you right in the middle of the energetic local chatter.
Know the difference between a "Tapa," "Media Ración," and "Ración." A "tapa" is a small portion, often served free with a drink in some traditional bars or available for a small price. A "media ración" is a half plate, ideal for two people to share, while a "ración" is a full plate suitable for a group. Order progressively to avoid over-ordering.
Explore beyond the main square. While there are restaurants with terraces directly facing the monument, they often charge a premium for the view. Walking just five or ten minutes into the backstreets of Argüelles or Malasaña will usually yield better quality food, lower prices, and a more authentic local crowd.
Look for the "Casa" or "Taberna" labels. These terms usually indicate a traditional, family-run establishment with a long history. Unlike modern gastro-bars, these places often specialize in a specific regional dish or a particular style of wine, offering a deeper sense of Madrid’s culinary heritage.
Carry some cash. While most modern establishments in Madrid accept credit cards, some of the older, more traditional bars may have a minimum spend for card payments or prefer cash for small transactions like a single coffee or a small caña. Having a €10 or €20 note on hand is always wise.
Master the art of the "Caña." A "caña" is a small glass of draft beer, the standard drink for a tapas crawl. Ordering a "doble" or a "jarra" is less common for a quick stop. The small size keeps the beer cold and allows you to visit multiple bars without overindulging.
Don’t be afraid to point. If your Spanish is limited, pointing at the dishes on the counter or at a neighbor’s table is perfectly acceptable and common practice. A smile and a polite "por favor" and "gracias" go a long way in creating a friendly interaction with the staff.
Be patient with the pace. Tapas culture is inherently social and unhurried. Waiters will not rush you to pay the bill, and they expect you to linger over your food and conversation. To get the check, you will usually need to ask for "la cuenta" (the bill) when you are ready to leave.
The area around the Temple of Debod serves as a perfect starting point for a culinary journey through Madrid’s diverse gastronomic landscape. By stepping away from the main tourist thoroughfares and into the side streets, you open yourself up to the authentic flavors and rhythms that define the city.
Whether you choose a bustling modern bar or a quiet, historic tavern, the experience is about more than just the food. It is about standing shoulder-to-shoulder with locals, savoring the moment, and understanding why the "tapeo" remains the most beloved social ritual in Spain.
