12 Best Hotels Near El Retiro Park

Madrid’s Parque del Buen Retiro is far more than a patch of green on a city map. Once a private royal garden for the Spanish monarchy, this sprawling 125-hectare oasis now serves as the city’s communal backyard. Locals come here to row boats on the Grand Pond, jog beneath the rose garden’s trellises, or simply escape the relentless Castilian sun.

The park’s magnetic pull extends beyond its wrought-iron gates to the elegant streets of the Jerónimos, Ibiza, and Pacífico neighborhoods. These areas blend aristocratic architecture with a distinctly laid-back, residential rhythm. Staying near the park means you trade the chaos of Gran Vía for tree-lined boulevards and morning birdsong.

Location here offers a strategic advantage for travelers who value both beauty and connectivity. The park is flanked by world-class institutions such as the Prado Museum, the Thyssen-Bornemisza, and the Reina Sofía. You can spend your morning with Velázquez and your afternoon napping on the grass beside the Crystal Palace.

The variety of accommodation surrounding the park is remarkably diverse. From grand Belle Époque palaces converted into five-star hotels to intimate boutique guesthouses tucked behind unassuming facades, there is a bed for every budget. However, the high demand for this area means rooms can book out months in advance.

Choosing the right hotel here is about matching your travel style to the neighborhood’s micro-vibes. The northern edge offers prestige and proximity to the luxury shops of the Salamanca district. The southern edge provides a more bohemian, local feel with access to Atocha station for day trips.

For those planning a visit to Madrid, sacrificing a central location for the serenity of Retiro is a worthy trade-off. You are never more than a short metro ride from the bustling center, yet you return home to fresh air and open space. It is the ideal balance for a multi-day stay.

Below, we have curated a selection of the finest places to stay within walking distance of this iconic park. These properties have been chosen for their service quality, distinctive character, and, most importantly, their unbeatable proximity to the greenery.

This is my most favourite place to stay when I come to Madrid, and I am there at least a couple times a year. I’ve stayed solo and with my family. It’s in a perfect location to everything, the rooms are super nice, and the extras like the restaurant and rooftop are top tier. (Don’t skip the views from the roof!) However, the staff and customer service are what make the hotel exceptional. They are so accommodating and helpful, including via email before your stay even begins. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a place in Madrid.

H10 Puerta de Alcalá – Madrid We had a wonderful stay at H10 Puerta de Alcalá. The location is excellent—right next to Retiro Park and within walking distance of the Salamanca neighborhood, making it easy to explore great shops, restaurants, and many of Madrid’s highlights. The hotel is beautifully decorated with a modern, stylish feel, and the rooftop bar offers lovely views of the city. Our room was clean, comfortable, and featured a nicely updated bathroom, making it a relaxing place to unwind after a day of sightseeing. Pro tip: The breakfast selection is somewhat limited, and the service in the breakfast area wasn’t as attentive as the rest of the hotel experience—it felt like an afterthought. Overall, this is a beautiful, well-located hotel that I’d happily recommend for anyone visiting Madrid.

The hotel is great! I speak very little Spanish but it was not a problem. Most of the staff speak at least some English and most speak several other languages which to me is very helpful. Everyone was very friendly. We had drinks and a light dinner at the bar. Food was really good and the wine and beer were really good

A fantastic 10/10 stay in the heart of Madrid! We stayed here for 7 days, and every single day was great. I give this hotel a 10 out of 10… and I truly mean that. The hotel is named after the iconic Puerta de Alcalá (Alcalá Gate), one of Madrid's most famous landmarks located just nearby. This magnificent neoclassical monument was completed in 1778 by order of King Charles III, who famously declared it would be "of the greatest beauty and solidity." It was the first public monument built in Madrid since Roman times and served as a grand ceremonial gateway into the city. Today, it stands proudly in the heart of the capital, a symbol of Madrid's rich history and elegance. Staying at this hotel puts you literally moments away from this piece of Spanish history. The hotel experience: What a clean and fantastic hotel. Breakfast was included, and it was delicious… great variety and quality. The staff is very nice and welcoming from the moment you arrive. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The view from the rooftop is absolutely fantastic… a perfect spot to take in the Madrid skyline. The location: The hotel is in a very safe location… the Barrio de Salamanca district is consistently ranked as the safest neighborhood in Madrid, with the lowest crime rates in the entire city. It's walkable to so many places: Parque del Retiro is just steps away, and you can easily walk to countless restaurants, cafes, and metro stations. I would say you are right in the heart of Madrid. You can walk anywhere! The area is elegant, quiet, and sophisticated, with beautiful tree-lined streets. Perfect for relaxing after a long day of sightseeing. I had a great experience here, and I highly recommend the H10 Puerta de Alcalá. Whether you're visiting for history, food, or just to soak in Madrid's charm, this hotel delivers on every level. I would absolutely stay here again.

This was our first time to stay in one of the H10 collection of hotels in Europe and the team at this property is very helpful and strives to make the guest experience an exceptional one. I would like to thank Javiar, Maria, and Carlos who have assisted us in the smooth check in and check our process at the reception area. They have dealt with our requests in a very professional and quick manner. Also, prior checking in, we asked for quiet area for praying and the gentleman and lady at the bar offered us a quiet place where we can do our prayers. We really thank the team for making this amazing treatment. Despite some minor items in the room that require maintenance, it hasnt impacted our wellbeing during the stay. I would definitely consider H10 in my future Europe travels.

The location of the hotel is great. Rooms are situated below street level so can be a bit noisy although there is a shutter which we only worked out on the second night how to close. The room has a kettle and a water machine in the foyer. However there are no cups or glasses in the room nor in the foyer. You only get one towel each. (no hand towel). The fitted sheet on our double bed must have been single bed size so it kept coming off during the night and disturbed our sleep. The plugs for the lamps and to charge your phone can only be reached if you bring the bedside tables forward. Suggest they put in smaller side tables. The ensuite bathroom is sweet but there is no place to put your vanity bags or toothbrushes. They could easily install a shelf. The location and the price are great so for one or two nights its still recommended. I gave it 3 stars but would have given it 3.5 if that was an option.

I had an absolutely dreadful experience at this hotel. The room I was assigned was disgustingly dirty, with holes in the bedsheets and a foul smell that made my stomach churn. To my absolute horror, the cups on the table reeked of urine. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw that the bedsheets had yellow stains on them and were covered in hairs. It was as if the room had not been cleaned in weeks. The state of the room made me feel so uncomfortable and unclean that I didn't even want to touch anything in it. I felt completely disgusted and repulsed by the whole experience. To make matters worse, I woke up with several bites on my body and I suspect that the bed might have a bed bug infestation. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone. The fact that they would rent out a room in such a filthy state and with possible bed bug infestation is absolutely unacceptable. It was a truly terrible experience that has left a lasting negative impression on me. Save yourself the trouble and stay far away from this terrible hotel.
Chad Myers★☆☆☆☆
Horrible. Great location - everything else sucks. Weird entry. Stupid layout. Towels and linens were awful. Room smelled. Toilet not attached. Shower small and drain not attached. Contact was done via a chatbot, no humans. $15 option for priority cleaning. $15 to “hire” an additional towel for second day. Pre-checking process was exhausting and required every person to be verified via WhatsApp. We managed to sleep there one night and bolted for an actual hotel.
Megan Pfeiffer-Hoyt★★☆☆☆
While this place has a modern trendy/chic style, it’s clear that it’s not regularly cleaned or maintained and lacks the personable qualities and security of a regular hostel as it’s not staffed and no one responds to messages. Towels and sheets had stains and the floors and surfaces were not clean. There was a broken fan in the room and no A/C. Also, be warned, the check-in/entry system is completely done electronically through an email link so if you don’t have internet except for Wi-Fi (like me when I first arrived from the airport) it might not work for you to get in. I had to book another hotel my first night of my 2-night stay for this reason and was never able to get a hold of an actual person to get a refund on the cost of the first night. If you do choose to stay, make sure you bring your phone when you leave your room as you will need to click on links to open building and room doors!

I stayed here for one night on my layover back to the U.S. I loved it! The location was perfect and my room was very comfortable. I liked having an en-suite bathroom, and I am glad I paid a little more for that feature. El Retiro Park is a short walk away, and the surrounding area has plenty of eateries, too. There was a little hiccup with the hot water when I showered that first evening, but there was no problem when I used it the following morning before checking out. I would definitely stay here again.

I was happily surprised that the reviews for this 2-star hotel were spot on. We loved the location — it was right near the train station, with restaurants, a museum, and souvenir shops just downstairs. We barely had to go far, which was perfect since we only planned to stay one night. We're so glad we made time for something fun and memorable like the Ikono Museum, which is fantastic for my autistic daughter. She loved every bit of it, and we got some wonderful photos to remember it by. The room was clean and comfortable, with a working air conditioner — an absolute must during a heatwave. I was pleasantly surprised to find a bidet too, which is a huge plus, especially for Asian guests (iykyk!). The staff were friendly, helpful, and accommodating throughout our stay. Even small gestures, like helping us carry our luggage on the way out, made a real difference. I should also mention the hotel is wheelchair accessible, which is a great plus for accessibility-conscious travelers. Honestly, I was skeptical that a 2-star hotel could have so many glowing reviews, but now I understand why. They truly deserve another star for their hospitality.

The staff of the front desk are very very nice! They r very helpful, all the time with their smile on their face, n this is very important in the hotel industry. They can talk very good in english with me, especially Mario. I think they r very polite n warm, love it. I asked them also about info of Madrid n Barcelona n they just sincerely tell me what they know. Mario is such a lovely n helpful guy, also Maurice n Mari Carmen r so nice to help us wth the room.

A truly lovely old hotel! We loved our corner room with a fabulous view over the square. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful and the beds were so comfy. Quality linen and good sound proofing make it an excellent choice for a very rare combo of good rest and central location!

Hotel Mediodia is in an excellent location right next to Atocha Station, making it very convenient for sightseeing. The room was very clean and surprisingly quiet. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the service was excellent. I especially liked the individual air conditioning, which lets you easily adjust the room temperature for comfort. The Airport Express Bus (Line 203) stops nearby and runs from 6:00 to 23:30. Bolt or Uber to the airport is also a great option — faster and more convenient than taking trains, especially since it avoids transfers. The ride typically costs around €20–€26. Great value for the location and comfort. Would stay again.
Suzanne Jones★★★★★
We had a great stay at Hotel Mediodia! The location was perfect - walking distance to museums, gardens, train station, wonderful restaurants. The room was small but very clean and the beds comfortable. We had a cute balcony and lovely view of the square behind the hotel, including the Reina Sofia Museum. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The breakfast buffet was plentiful and open from 7-11am. I would definitely stay again!

My Name: Daniel Eid Date of Stay: 29 May 2026 Room Number: 414 I stayed at this hotel for two wonderful nights and thoroughly enjoyed my experience. I loved the location, as it is close to the city center while still being far enough away to ensure a peaceful and restful night's sleep. The staff were amazing, especially at the reception desk. They were friendly, professional, and always willing to assist. The rooms were fantastic—spacious, modern, clean, and comfortable. They were also well-equipped with a kettle and complimentary beverage sachets, providing everything needed for a comfortable stay. The buffet breakfast was excellent, offering a wide variety of options, including eggs, bacon, pastries, and much more. Overall, I had a wonderfully relaxing stay at this hotel and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area. Thank you to the entire team for making my stay so enjoyable.

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Crowne Plaza Madrid Retiro from 3 July 2026 for three nights in Room 307. We have nothing but positive things to say about our stay. The hotel is conveniently located near the metro station, the rooms are spacious and comfortable, and the bed was, without a doubt, the most comfortable we've ever slept in. The breakfast was outstanding, with a great variety of high-quality options. We would also like to give a special thank you to the wonderful team, who were consistently warm, kind, and attentive throughout our stay. Paloma at Reception was exceptional, and Monica from Housekeeping was equally amazing. They both went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and were always happy to help with a smile. Thank you to everyone for making our stay so enjoyable. We will definitely be back and highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Madrid.

Great hotel, great location 5 mins walk from Metro and a short journey into the main Madrid centre. Lots of coffee shops and supermarkets near by and 10 min walk away from the beautiful Retiro Park. Our room was upgraded to premium for free, complementary water and mini bar. Spacious bathroom and comfy beds. The place to be if visiting Madrid
Saj Ulldin★★★★★
Was actually impressed with this hotel. Service was excellent at check in. I stayed 3 nights in room 404 which was a very nice room. It had a queen bed, absolutely massive. The bed does take up most of the floor space, but I didn't mind this at all. The bathroom was very spacious and even had a spacious shower with very decent water pressure and a rainfall shower head. Nice large TV which also has Chromecast, ideal to catch up on YouTube. Everything was clean and tidy. No issues at all.
Daniel Fg★★★★☆
This hotel sits in a quiet, residential part of Madrid, ideal if you want to stay away from the tourist crowds while still being within easy reach of the city. You can comfortably walk to El Retiro Park or over to the Ibiza neighborhood, which is packed with great restaurants. That said, the immediate surroundings are very quiet, with not much happening right outside the door. A nearby metro stop makes it easy to get around, so it’s a good balance between calm and connectivity. The hotel itself does what it’s supposed to, but doesn’t really stand out. The decor is quite standard, very much in line with a typical corporate hotel. Rooms are a decent size, though, and the bathroom was equipped with a modern rain shower. There’s also a parking garage available, located about 100 meters away at a nearby sister property, but the connection between the two makes it easy enough to access. Breakfast was average—perfectly fine, but nothing memorable. Overall, it feels like fair value for the price: a solid, no-frills option if you’re looking for a quiet base with good access to the rest of Madrid.

The hotel is about a 7 min walk from the Atocha station. Hotel itself is dated but comfortable and clean and maintained. Mind you the room has no kettle and if you want water I am not sure where you can get it because I did not see a water dispenser and didn’t bother to ask just went and bought some water. Price on the high side for quite a simple room. The breakfast spread was good though!!
Christina Astitha★★★★☆
Large and comfortable rooms, satisfying restaurant, location convenient given that it was 15 minutes from the main museums of the city. Close to Retiro. However, the fridge of the room was not working and we told the crew. They checked and they told us that the fridge was there only to maintain the initial temperature of the drinks (!). I think it is unacceptable, especially when there are 39 degrees outside 🫠
Guido Coenders★★★☆☆
Bit of a mixed bag this one. I chose it because it’s walking distance from Atocha station, which it is. Best if you take the exit from the Cercanias part of the station. So, that was OK. Service of the staff too. Very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast is quite good as well for the rate they charge and the room rate itself was acceptable. But, for a 4 star hotel, the quality of the interior is below par. Everything really needs a touch up, the bathroom was mediocre with a ceiling that looked pretty ugly, and the walls (as I’ve read in other comments) are razor thin. That’s far from comfortable. To add: a wireless service that’s jittery, so I cannot go beyond 3 stars. I’d advise the Santos group to go spend some money on an uplift…
Wendy Shand★★★★☆
Excellent location (about 6 mins from metro and station). Rooms a bit dated and a little noise through walls but it all works (safe/good shower/air con/comfy bed). Go to Daniels nearby for a great (and more cost effective) breakfast

The hotel’s location was good, and the rooms were reasonably clean though the twin bed for adults were a bit small and uncomfortable the hotel itself was good overall. Unfortunately, the customer service was far below what we expected. The staff, especially in the breakfast restaurant, were surprisingly rude and lacked even basic hospitality. Sadly, this left us with a very negative final impression: On our last morning, after checking out, we went to have breakfast and of course to pay for it. At first, the restaurant staff told us that since we had already checked out, we couldn’t have breakfast. After checking with the reception, he finally said it was okay. Since we were in a hurry, we only asked for coffee and bread. We were charged €12 for two coffees and bread. However, he kept watching us, he noticed we had taken two pieces of bread, he came straight to our table and said that the €12 only covered one piece of bread and that we couldn’t take another one. He then charged us an additional €2.60 for the second piece of bread. I have never experienced such rude, intimidating, and humiliating behavior over something so trivial.

Hotel is in a great location, a short walk from the main train station, about 30mins from the airport in a taxi and easily accessible on the metro. Reception staff were friendly and very helpful. The room is lovely, great size, big bathroom. The hotel has a lovely rooftop bar and a terrace with a great bar. Jennifer was our server, she was so friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend and we will return.

The room was very comfortable, good linens, it was spacious and I was supposedly upgraded to a deluxe room. The only issue was that the deluxe room had no natural light, the window led to the inner area part of the hotel. The premises were in very good conditions and the bathroom was also nice and spacious. The only thing that was confusing were the halls, it sort of felt like a maze.

We had a wonderful stay at H-A Hotel Retiro. We stayed for a week and kept pinching ourselves about what a great place it was, and how affordable it was considering the size and amenities. It felt like an AirBnB - we had a small kitchenette, a couch, a gorgeous view, and an espresso maker down the hall for our daily coffee. The hotel was clean and the beds were comfortable. The location was perfect for us (we wanted to be on that side of town to be near our friends who live in Madrid), but it is not in the absolute center of town. It was an easy walk to Retiro Park though, which was a highlight for us. I highly recommend this hotel!
Rebekka Vanhaverbeke★☆☆☆☆
Absolutely horrific stay. The building entrance was foul-smelling and the lift was terrifying. Although the photos suggest renovated rooms, our unit was filthy with a visibly broken and dangerously dirty air conditioning unit (filters completely clogged). The next nightmare was the unbearable noise. The location above several bars meant ear-splitting noise until 3-4 AM. We did not sleep a single minute. The noise from the hallway and the constantly echoing lift added to the ordeal. The beds were rock hard, leading to severe back pain and there was a very uncomfortable sofa bed for our child. The 'breakfast' was a total joke and misleading; the food was so bad you wouldn't even give it to a dog, which suggests the Booking reviews must be guaranteed fake.. For an unbelievable €15 per person, we found a box in the fridge upon arrival containing inedible garbage: a sandwich with cheese and ham that was stiff and untasteable, a tiny, crushed, rock-hard item that was supposed to be a croissant, and a bruised apple. After reporting that the coffee machine was broken, staff attempted a fix, but when it failed, they stated they "could do nothing about it" and we would have to manage without coffee, no milk. When I complained about the quality of the breakfast being "garbage," the employee replied they knew it was bad and advised me to complain directly to Booking, stating it was "not their problem. This was a complete rip-off. NEVER AGAIN
Kim Hagen★☆☆☆☆
The area is terrible, as well as the horrible smell and the cleanliness of the room. And breakfast is advertised on the website, but on-site you only get cheap sandwiches delivered to your room.
Milena Radivojevic★★☆☆☆
We stayed for three days. Upon arrival, we were charged a €150 deposit, which was only mentioned in small print on the booking site — we did not expect this additional cost. The rooms were spacious but nothing special, and the shower was difficult to adjust. The night before our last day, we had a serious problem with the key code and couldn’t enter the building or our room. Luckily, some kind people helped us get inside the building. It took quite a while to reach the property staff and receive a new code. We were very tired and upset that this happened, especially considering we paid €520 for the stay. The location is nice, but you have to walk a bit to reach the nearest metro or bus station.
R. Wiese★☆☆☆☆
The fire alam was going off constantly with a loud beeping noise. It was on for the full three days I was there. Although this was reported to the staff, nobody did anything about it. I would recommend it to no-one.

This is not a fancy place but for the money it's really a great value. The room was very nicely made and clean. I had a double bed because I like the extra space and extra pillows. The AC could have worked a little better but that didn't bother you too much. The service was outstanding both the night guy who took me in and the morning guy Choy I think his name was was great! We had a nice little cultural exchange before I left for my train. I would highly recommend this place if you want to stay close to the train station and want a good value.

Perfectly fine hotel for me for a night as a solo traveler. My room was clean, the bed comfortable. The people I interacted with at the front desk during check in and check out were friendly and helpful. The bathroom is tiny and doesn’t have a door, though the toilet does have a door to separate it from the rest of the room. My room, therefore, was most suitable for a solo traveler or couple.

Very nice hotel with perfect location (a few minutes away from Prada and Reina Sofía museums) also walkable to the city centre (20-25 min. to Playa Mayor), lots of shops and cafes around, also the airport shuttle stops nearby. The rooms are simple but have everything necessary, even a fridge, and they get cleaned everyday. A big advantage is the coffee area downstairs with 24/7 access to a coffee machine, water and cookies (by the way the coffee was very good). Also there is a terrace with a nice view. Definitely recommend it for your stay in Madrid.
Bethany Marcum★★★★☆
Good basic place for good price in a convenient location near Atocha train station. Our room was small but clean. The hotel has a very small lobby, room for only a few people to wait. The Wi-Fi worked well in our room. We had blackout blinds but very thin walls. Rain-style shower head and plenty of very hot water. The bed and sheets were comfortable but didn't care for the pillows. Nice big towels. Hair dryer supplied! (which was a happy surprise). The various employees at the front desk were all helpful and kind. No USB outlets in the room. The only amenities provided were shower gel and liquid hand soap. Coffee and tea makers provided, and mini fridge. Good value.

I had a terrible experience at this hotel. When I first arrived and went to wash my hands, the water that came out of the faucet was muddy yellow and extremely dirty. I reported it to the hotel, and they promised to fix it right away. They assured me that after I went out for a walk, everything would be fine by the time I came back at night. However, when I returned, the cold water was clean but the hot water was still very dirty. I reported it again to the front desk, but they couldn’t give me any solution. I could tell the staff really wanted to help, but there was nothing they could do. The hotel manager was completely irresponsible!!! No apology and she didn’t even answer the phone! I honestly don’t recommend anyone to stay here. The price isn’t cheap either, and if I could choose again, I’d rather pay a bit more to stay somewhere else.

The hotel was very clean and the room was lovely had a coffee machine in it you could use and a mini bar if wanted to and it was fairly cheap. Located right in the middle of madrid within walking distance from everything and restaurants near by too. Service from all hotel staff was friendly and helpful and they even let us store our luggage there once we had checked out so we could explore while waiting to leave for the airport. The only down side to this hotel would be the breakfast , we had it included in our booking the breakfast was very poor. We went twice out of the 4 days we was there it was the same food everyday and dry pastries and left out fruit if this was improved for further visits it would be 5*

I visited this hotel for a city break and wasn't disappointed. Upon arrival, the receptionists were very helpful and informative. Hotel is down a quiet street with very little noise outside and is within walking distance of all the main attractions. The whole hotel is spotless and rooms are very spacious. Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Madrid. The only thing I would mention is the breakfast wasn’t the best we had it for 5 days on our visit but only visited it twice. it was very repetitive and could of been changed up daily and the fruit and pastries was left sitting out making them go stale and hard. If this was improved then it would be brilliant

The location is perfect, right in the heart of Gran Via. The rooms were clean, the beds were comfortable, and I especially loved having a balcony in the dorm room. The common space is a nice spot to relax or have a snack. I’ll definitely be back because I loved the atmosphere! My only complaint was the service during checkout; the lady at the front desk was quite unfriendly. A simple "goodbye" or "see you next time" would have been much appreciated.

I was in a 8-bed female dorm. The room was ok, the shared bathroom on the floor was ok as well. The bed was comfy. The only thing I didn’t understand was why they had put a bed directly under the ceiling light of the room? I was unfortunate to have that one bed out of the 8 in the room, and it would be so bright every time someone opened the light of the room over me while I was trying to fall asleep.

Disappointment to the core, 1 June 2026, checked out from 209 room, kept NY bag with receptionist 2 girls and for my surprise once I collected and reached my new location, I find out ny Philip sonictooth brush was stollen from the bag. Tried to call them by phone they are miserable and no one answered, I went back and asked them to returned and we all ve fine but the after receptionist a tomboy girl full of tattoos she was just smiling with evilll face, rude and zero professionalism she said that she couldcheck the cameras and that to call police. As per now there's a case against them and I suggest everyone to not trust the stuff, my belonging were in the reception and 2 girls from reception knows what happened. This things happens when you hire cheap laborers from cheap zones. Sad but truth. Avoid pls.

Carmen and her team take exceptional care to make guests feel at home at any of her beautifully appointed units. Their kind, responsive and available 24/7. We wanted to keep it secret, but if your planning to be in Madrid for a month or so, you should check in Blume Apartments.

I discovered Apartamentos Blume by chance over 3 years ago and have stayed here at least 6-7 times now. The location is fantastic (best neighborhood in Madrid) and the building is absolutely gorgeous. From the moment you pass through the iron gate on Conde de Aranda into the courtyard before entering the antique portal with marble staircase you know you are in a special place. The apartments are very well appointed and comfortable. The beds and linens are top quality. The kitchen is functional and has everything you need to cook at home. I also love that every apartment has two floor to ceiling doors that open to small balconies which provides lots of ambient light. The staff at Blume are incredibly attentive and always available via WhatsApp. The weekly cleaning service is superb and they always let you know well in advance what day they are coming. Apartamentos Blume has become my second home while in Madrid (I spent about 5 months a year in Spain). Highly recommended for long-term stays.

Very disappointing experience — I would not recommend this hotel Unfortunately, my stay at Vincci Hotel was one of the worst hotel experiences I have had. First of all, there was construction noise during our stay, which made it extremely difficult to rest. Else, the staff didn’t do anything to stop the noise, the only thing they could say was - “We hope it will stop tomorrow.” And you know what? It didn’t stop but started even harder the next day at 8 o’clock. This was already very disappointing, especially considering the price we paid for the accommodation. But the most frustrating part happened after check-out. The hotel initially told me that the two bottles of water were complimentary, but later I received a charge for a packet of chips from the minibar, which I absolutely did not consume or use. I did not even notice this item among the products in the room. I questioned the charge and asked how they could be certain that the item was actually there when I checked into the room. The hotel eventually refunded the amount, but described this as a “gesture of goodwill.” In my opinion, this is not a gesture of goodwill — it is simply a refund of a charge that was made to my account without my knowledge or authorization. Overall, I am deeply disappointed with my experience. The combination of construction noise, lack of proper communication, and an unexpected minibar charge left a very negative impression. I expected much better from a hotel of this standard and would not recommend staying here based on my experience.

Fantastic location, downtown, right outside a metro station and bus stops, EL Corte Ingles is also next door, surrounded by bars and restaurants. Spacious clean rooms, safe, fridge, hair dryer available plus shampoo, hair conditioner, body lotion, a shower cap, comb and a bathroom sponge. AC can keep the room at a very low temperature despite the heat outside. The breakfast has a huge variety of food and a dedicated gluten free corner with gluten free bread, pastries and a dedicated toaster (bravo), plant based yogurt and soy milk also available. Allergens are clearly marked on the food labels. It's a buffet though so cross contamination is possible, get there at the very beginning of breakfast to be safe that the serving utensils are not contaminated. Service is also good.

I really loved my stay here, location 100/10, few metro stations nearby, El Retiro close by foot, Lidl on the corner, plenty of cafes, grande via of shops. Lovely breakfasts, the restaurant is a special place, it's so cosy, nice variety of food, even Shampane. Most welcoming staff on reception. Definitely recommend. And I will be back to Vincci Soma once Madrid is on my route.

Every time I come to Madrid, I choose to stay at Hotel Vincci Soma and there’s a reason for that. The location is excellent, right next to the metro, which makes it incredibly easy to get anywhere in the city. The hotel is also within walking distance of luxury shopping boutiques and high-end stores, which is a big advantage. In addition, there are many restaurants and food spots around the hotel that stay open until late. The price-performance ratio is very good for this area, and the hotel is always clean and well-maintained. It offers a comfortable, reliable, and well-located stay every time. As a small suggestion, the elevators could be improved, as they can feel a bit limited during busy hours. Also, when we requested extra water, it would have been more convenient if it had been sent directly to our room instead of being redirected to the restaurant. Overall, it’s always a dependable choice for me in Madrid. Thank you for another pleasant stay.

My son and I stayed 3 nights in early April. We also enjoyed the breakfast each morning. The staff at reception listened to my complaints with our first room. They gave us a new room, which suited us much better. I also had left behind something in the room, and again the staff were very helpful.

Tips for Choosing a Hotel Near El Retiro Park

Selecting the right accommodation involves more than just looking at a map and counting the meters to the park entrance. The area surrounding Retiro is large and diverse, meaning a hotel on one side of the park offers a completely different experience than one on the opposite side. To ensure you make the right choice for your specific travel needs, consider the following practical advice before you finalize your reservation.

Book well in advance for spring and autumn. Madrid’s peak seasons align perfectly with the park’s most beautiful months. If you want to see the roses in bloom or the leaves turning gold, expect high occupancy and premium rates. Securing your room two to three months early is essential for the best selection.

Consider your primary museum focus. The "Golden Triangle of Art" surrounds the park, but walking distances can be deceptive. If you plan to spend most of your time at the Prado, choose a hotel on the park’s northwest corner. If modern art at the Reina Sofía is your priority, look toward the southwest near Atocha.

Check for soundproofing and room orientation. While the park is quiet, the surrounding streets can be busy with traffic, especially on the Calle de Alcalá side. Look for hotels that mention double-glazed windows or request a room that faces an interior courtyard rather than the main avenue.

Understand the metro access. The park is serviced by multiple stations, including Retiro, Ibiza, and Atocha. If you plan to use public transport heavily, verify the walking time from your hotel to the nearest station. Some boutique hotels in the residential backstreets may look close on a map but require a 10-minute walk to the platform.

Look for rooftop terraces or garden views. One of the greatest joys of staying in this area is the view. Several hotels offer upper floors with vistas over the tree canopy. If this matters to you, specifically book a "park view" or "upper floor" room category rather than leaving it to chance at check-in.

Weigh the value of on-site dining. The neighborhoods around the park, particularly Ibiza and Pacífico, are filled with excellent local tapas bars. However, if you prefer the convenience of a hotel restaurant for breakfast or late-night dining, verify that your chosen property offers full-service dining rather than just a continental breakfast.

Once you have settled into your chosen hotel, the park becomes an extension of your living room. Whether you start your day with a jog past the Fountain of the Fallen Angel or end it with a quiet stroll under the chestnut trees, staying near Retiro offers a perspective of Madrid that few other districts can match.

The true value of this location is revealed in the quiet moments. It is the pause between sightseeing, the cool shade after a hot afternoon, and the chance to live like a local in one of Europe’s most vibrant capitals. Choose the hotel that fits your rhythm, and let the park do the rest.
