15 Best Beaches and Sunset Viewpoints in San Antonio

San Antonio sits on the western curve of Ibiza’s coastline, where the Mediterranean light turns the water into a mirror of turquoise and silver. While the town is famous for its vibrant summer nightlife, its daytime rhythm belongs to sunbathers, swimmers, and slow walks along the promenade. The beaches and viewpoints here offer a quieter, more natural counterpoint to the island’s bustling club scene.

Travellers often arrive expecting only sunset bars and loud music, but they leave talking about hidden coves and pine-backed stretches of sand. The coastline around San Antonio is surprisingly varied, ranging from wide urban beaches with easy access to rugged cliffs where the horizon stretches uninterrupted toward mainland Spain. Each spot has its own character, depending on the time of day and the direction of the breeze.

The western orientation of San Antonio means the sunsets are among the most dramatic in the Balearic Islands. Unlike other parts of Ibiza, where the sun disappears behind hills or headlands, here it sinks directly into the open sea. This creates long golden reflections that draw photographers, couples, and families to the shoreline every evening.

For visitors planning a trip, understanding the practical details matters as much as the scenery. Parking availability, accessibility, facilities, and water conditions can make the difference between a relaxing afternoon and a stressful detour. This guide focuses on real, usable information that helps you choose the right spot for your travel style, whether you are travelling with children, exploring by scooter, or simply looking for a peaceful place to watch the light fade.

Local knowledge also helps you avoid the crowds. Many of the best sunset viewpoints near San Antonio are not obvious from the main road, and some beaches require a short walk or a scramble down stone steps. Knowing which spots fill up early and which remain quiet even in August allows you to plan your day with confidence.

This article draws on direct experience of the San Antonio coastline, including visits across different seasons. It avoids recycled travel clichés and instead focuses on what each location actually feels like, how to reach it, and what to bring. The recommendations are suitable for first-time visitors and returning Ibiza regulars alike.

Below you will find a curated selection of the best beaches and sunset viewpoints in and around San Antonio, followed by practical tips to make the most of your time on this beautiful stretch of the Ibizan coast.

Spanish style swimming at its finest ❤️ Beautiful and wild landscape with a variety of swimming and laying out platforms There are a few entrances, all require a small walk/hike. 💦 Bring water shoes

Peaceful Cala with pristine water. Great for snorkeling and soaking up the sun while laying on the soft flat rocks. You can take a hike with your dogs there through the pine woods or along a dirt road. There is a small beach if you are looking for sand but actually the rocks are the place to go to.

Amazing nature! It was always on my Ibiza list to go there and finally did! Walking down the load and reaching to the small path, you will start to see a beautiful cliff and ocean. Climbing and walking to the right hand side, there will be an amazing wide space where you can chill to see the best sunset will appear. FYI: No parking space but only to park on the road.
natalie marji★★★★★
Perfect place to disconnected from the crazy chaotic part of Ibiza, free and open. Crystal clear water, may seem cold but as soon as you plunge in your body accommodates and is 100% worth it. Not that far of a walk, but better to get there by car. Definitely recommend 🙂

Long beach with a promenade along it. Lots of healthy walking very relaxing time and a perfect place to sit relax with the option that everything you might need is nearby, pubs, restaurants, clubs. For us the direction was Cafe de Mar and Cafe Mambo because that's where you should end the day! Beautiful colors of the port and bay after sunset.

visited in may and it is very convenient if you stay at hotel ses savines. the beach was clean, sandy and peaceful

Long sand beach. Very clean , clear water, great for sunsets! Great location as well but very quiet in September and not much vibes as the other Ibiza’s coast. It’s worth to take the bus and explore the Island. Go to the Cala Comte or Cala Tarida. 🌴☀️

Public beach in the city centre, clean and not overcrowded (in the middle of October). City of course great for partying people, nice restaurants, bars, and a port that offers many interesting cruises
Travel Buddy★★★★★
Playa de San Antonio is a long beach that offers a variety of activities. For example, you can enjoy parasailing, flying fish, banana boat or speed boat rides, beach cruises, party boats, sunset cruises, glass bottom boats, sailboat tours and more. The prices vary between 25€ and 75€, if you want to buy paintings they are between 15€ and 25€ (20€ for parasailing). There was a beach volleyball tournament I could have attended. The turquoise water and beautiful sunsets are enchanting. Perfect for spending a few hours at the beach and just working on your tan. The sea has a pleasant temperature and is the right solution to cool off on hot days. There are a handful of ways to buy everything you need for a great beach vacation 😉 Perfect to refresh yourself and let your soul dangle #ibizabeach #spain🇪🇸 #parasailing #jetboat #sailing #beachlife #highandhigher #souvenirshop #hotdays☀️ #speedboat #flyingfish #bananaboat #glasbottomboat #soulfood #bananaboatride #hikingtrails #rooftoppool

A beautiful beach equipped with loungers and umbrellas (for a fee), but lacking restrooms, changing rooms, showers, or foot baths. In June, the cost was €21 for an umbrella and two loungers, both for a full day and a half-day. The sea and sand are clean, and there are exercise machines installed by the municipality. Beach fees are never included in the hotel rate; you must pay separately in cash. There are no children's playgrounds.

This beach is really nice, sand, sea, everything is okay. It is not a big one but have enough places for everyone. Sunset from this beach is amasing, a lot of people are coming just for the sunset. Beautifull moment. Also, a lot of cafes are here, market, everything is close.

A really cool beach, with a very long side walk. A definitely the place to go to in sunny winter days to walk by the coast line. And in summer is as lively as anywhere in Ibiza

Spent most of the time watching fantabulous sunset sighting though less beach area but a foot away many restaurants and hotels make it quite cosy place to be in.

I could easily picture ancient cultures walking the same paths thousands of years ago here. Highly recommend this place. Views forever.
Richard Attoe★★★★★
Beautiful nature and a great place to walk and enjoy the fresh air and amazing views over the harbour and Javier. There is a sigh to mark the start of the walk just at the end of the road behind the harbour. The walk is nice, a gentle uphill until you reach the lighthouse. Take water and good shoes. Highly recommended.
alan west★★★★☆
This lighthouse is at the opposite end of the xabia bay to the Cape de Nau lighthouse and gives lovely views over the town and port of xabia on one side of the promontory and out across the med on the other. The road access up from xabia is a well surfaced Road but much care is needed to navigate the winding hairpin bends. Do not overtake larger slower vehicles, carefully stay behind them especially if you are not familiar with the route. Well worth the journey to see the sunrise. Again there are no toilets in the area out of season. There is quite a large community living up on the ridge with a few acceptable restaurants when open.

A lovely little cove nested below hotels. Great for snorkeling. If you are staying in the area, it's ideal to visit or at least worth stopping by. We discovered it on our first day in Sant Antoni and enjoyed it! It's very relaxing and proof that you don't need to go far to find a beautiful place. You can take very beautiful photos here. Scenic rocks and cliffs, turquoise water, lots of fishes. It's reached by foot, you have to walk over the rocky shore to access it (depending where you come from). Highly recommend it!!
Noemi★★★★★
Beautiful place for a walk with views of San Antonio. Even on a cloudy day you can see the turquoise colour of the water.
Yeiva★★★★★
In my opinion, this is one of the best coves in Ibiza that we have seen. With clean transparent crystal clear water. Incredibly wonderful view of it from the top. To get to it, you need to go down a large staircase. It is located near the cave-aquarium. The area is quite beautiful, you can take nice pictures, and it's not far from downtown San Antonio. However, the beach was more rocky than sandy. One of the best bays in Ibiza. There were not many people, as on other beaches. We had a great time because we liked the bay, we didn't want to leave because it was very beautiful!
Jane Smith★★★★★
Dont waste your time going to the Aquarium !!! We walked beyond and the views were amazing. Careful on the cliff edge though 👍

We came to the beach without expecting anything special, simply looking forward to a relaxing day by the sea. Then we found this beautiful beachfront restaurant, and it turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip to Ibiza. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed by an incredibly friendly and attentive team. Our waiter Juan was especially kind, professional, and made us feel genuinely welcome throughout our visit. We ordered the mixed seafood platter, paella, grilled squid, calamari rings, meat, white Prosecco, and beer. Every single dish was fresh, perfectly prepared, and absolutely delicious. The quality of the food exceeded all our expectations. The combination of amazing food, outstanding service, and the beautiful beachfront location created a truly unforgettable experience. We left absolutely delighted. Without a doubt, this was one of the best restaurant experiences we had during our stay in Ibiza. Highly recommended—we will definitely come back!
nikthegame75★★★★★
One of the best places on the Island to see the Sunset. We have always done Es Vedra but now they have made it nigh on impossible to find somewhere to park so we thought we world try Cala Comte. We were not disappointed. There was even a solo hippy drummer there beating down the sun which created an even more magical atmosphere. There is one restaurant there which we didn't try called Sunset of Ashram but I have heard good things about the place. You can no longer park along the road leading up to Comte but there is a rather large car park near the barrier which allows buses and taxis through which to be honest when you park you dont have far to walk to the clifftop and beach. Highly recommend for a great sunset!!
Alexandra S★★★☆☆
For others to know: renting lounge chairs for 2 people costs 45 euro. It is mandatory to have lunch from them 50€ per person, and one coconut. So 145 € for 2 people and the 14€euro coconut you can include in the 100€ lunch you have to use. You pay 145€ at the beginning. The red tuna was ok, a bit rare for my taste. And when you get the bill, you will find 10% service fee and the waiter is asking if you want to leave something for the staff as well.
Anuradha★★★★★
Probably one of the most beautiful places I had visited in the whole of my Ibiza trip! Perched atop Cala Comte, fabulous atmosphere, warm service, electrifying see breeze, can get too dramatic describing this place. Look anywhere around you and you have the best views. A total 10/10 for me
embraceluna★★★★☆
Very overhyped place, therefore really crowded. Which makes the prices rise as well, but that’s typical in Ibiza I would say. Nonetheless, the staff tried to find a spot without me having a reservation and it was also a quite okay one. The food and drinks were good, the atmosphere okay, although it was full of influencer tourists and loud families. All in all it‘s a very nice place if you like this kind of environment.

The most AMAZING time!!! We genuinely were having a great time in Ibiza doing all of the usual stuff, clubbing and going out all night etc. But taking the yacht was the highlight of our trip BY FAR!! We can't recommend them enough... the staff, the captain, the sailor, the experience, the VIBES!
Christina Kilczycki★★★★★
Yesterday we had an amazing sunset trip with you guys. Everything was absolutely perfect. The crew is so nice and polite, they explain everything very well and you can feel that they want to see all their guest very happy. We booked the trip as a birthday surprise and they even managed to buy the best chocolate cake for us 😍 We said in our crew "every single Euro we invested in this trip was absolutely worth it!" We had Flatrate on beer, sangria and soft drinks but they also opened a cava (sparkling wine) for us when they sun went down. We can highly recommend this trip! They also have stand up baddle boards on board which you can give a try and have a guess.. Yes I landed in the water 😂 By the way if you are lucky you can even see dolphins 😊 Thank you Xavier and Crew for making us this trip as amazing and comfortable as it was. We are looking forward to our next trip on your boats.

A magical spot away from the crowds! If you are looking for wild nature and peace on Ibiza, this place will blow you away. The view from the cliff overlooking the endless Mediterranean Sea and the rugged coastline is absolutely breathtaking. The atmosphere is raw, peaceful, and a complete contrast to the island's party vibe. It is the perfect spot to watch a spectacular sunset in pure silence. There are also some interesting, modest archaeological ruins nearby. Highly recommended if you want to experience the authentic, quiet side of Ibiza!
MJ Bradley★★★★★
Beautiful views and the restaurant nearby is also nice. Such a peaceful side of the island where you can walk and listen to nature and then come to a beautiful view of the amazing sea and sky! Sunsets are amazing too.

Very nice view, we could park near the restaurant and met 3 cats on the top of the cliff there so it was even better !!!

An amazing view. Something you should have seen. Easily accessible but over a rocky terrain. Parking at the restaurant and walking for like 5 - 10 minutes
Anita Mc Nally★★★★★
Jaw dropping views from here, there is a looped hiking route much less traveled, which if taken further on from the vantage point, will provide an excellent perspective for any photography enthusiast, care needed, sensible footwear and trousers advised for the hike, as it assends steeply through brush and rock.

The staff are super friendly and fun; someone always comes over before your glass is even quite empty. We highly recommend the drinks. The ambiance is lovely, and the DJ is excellent. The music is pleasant and relaxing. The restroom is great for freshening up, as deodorant and perfume are provided, and the staff there are very friendly, too.
Ayrshireman★★★★★
The Bay Bar is simply the best beach bar in San Antonio Bay - been here several times over a few different visits. There's a good mix of seating arrangements, whether you're dining or lounging about in larger groups. It has a beautiful vista over the Bay and has a chilled and unpretentious vibe with good music, often with a DJ on the decks. A special mention goes out to Tania, the waitress who served us, who was fantastic every time we visited - very attentive, welcoming and makes you feel like a special guest! Drinks are reasonably priced and the burgers are delicious as well. If you're looking for a place for drinks or something to eat in San Antonio, whether during the day or at night, it's well worth a visit.
Andy Andy★★☆☆☆
The service was fantastic, but genuinely the most average margarita I've ever had, especially at 18e. The waitress asked if I want salt, I asked if spicy, so she ordered a spicy margarita for me. Well, still no attempt at salting the glass, and absolutely flavourless. She asked if it was spicy, I said no, took it back, came back the same. For 18e, in San Antonio, it shouldn't be that bad. Seriously poor effort, equally the other cocktails at 16e, were average. If you want average cocktails and generic house, you'll love it. If you actually want a quality drink (TBF good service) and decent music, try anywhere else.
Lisa Mooney★★★★★
I really like the Bay Bar, and has been a regular go to over the past 10 years when I come to Ibiza. The location is wonderful for people watching, great view across the bay and you can catch a great sun set from here. There are plenty of seating options depending on your group size, and the service is good. Would recommend the Shark Attack Jug, great cocktail and good value for money.

A small bay with two beaches, this one and the other (Gracioneta), wonderful beautiful nature, colors and quiet places where you can even take a book and only the waves and seagulls will be heard. I love such pearls on the travel map.
Yury Rest★★★★☆
Brilliant little gem with convenient location and fantastic surroundings. Beautiful walks all around and great atmosphere. Because it is a commercial public beach, they could do better job with cleaning it more often and have better maintenance. Very nice bar and staff.
Yeiva★★★★☆
A small, beautiful and calm bay, despite the fact that there were many people. Since there was no space on the beach, there were small rocks on the bay side where you could sit and leave your things. There are also pine trees on the side of the cove offering nice shaded spots. Protected from currents and large waves, it forms a small bay. The music was constantly playing, which added to the vibe of the place. The water was clean and crystal clear. Plenty of room for swimming. A bar and an area for hammocks are at guests' disposal, we did not use them, because there were many people and everything was busy. Sandy beach, good for snorkeling. Access to the beach with a path. A picturesque place where you can take cool photos. I recommend visiting!)
James Roberts★★★★★
Cala Gracio, located on the serene island, unveils a picturesque escape for beach aficionados. A journey to this beach reveals a compact carpark, which is a blend of hilly and uneven terrain, urging an early arrival especially on weekends to secure a spot. As you step onto the beach, the array of amenities is sure to cater to your basic needs. You'll find well-maintained toilets, showers, alongside a bar, making it a convenient spot for a day out. The cove is a visual delight with its pristine white sands meeting the gentle turquoise waters, creating a tranquil atmosphere for relaxation. Despite its popularity among the locals, the welcoming and friendly demeanor of the people at Cala Gracio adds a charming community vibe to the beach experience. However, a slice of paradise comes with a price. The beachside bar and food offerings lean towards the expensive side, with a simple ice lolly priced at €5. The decking around the beach adds a modern touch, but the sunbeds and parasols, tagged at €7 each, might feel a bit hefty on the pocket. The beach doesn’t just stop at sunbathing; the warm waters, even in the heart of October, beckon for a snorkeling adventure. The rocky areas are teeming with aquatic life, presenting a delightful underwater scene. A leisurely stroll around the cove may also lead you to local fishing enthusiasts employing traditional line and hook methods, adding a rustic charm to the scenic beauty. The afternoon spent here is a pleasant blend of relaxation, exploration, and enjoying the local hospitality. Despite the dent in the wallet, the experience at Cala Gracio is enriching and comes highly recommended for anyone looking to discover one of the nicest beaches on the island.

We booked out the Utopia 3 boat for a private cruise for 18 adults and one baby. We booked this via WhatsApp chat with Kelly who was very helpful. The trip was a 5 hour sunset cruise and this included a swim stop and also a stop at a beach club. During the swim we had access to Snorkels, woggles for floating and a stand up paddle board. The staff on board were brilliant and were really helpful. We were able to play our own music creating a perfect atmosphere fir the sunset. Drinks were included: we could choose from: beer sangria cava and soft drinks. (although next time stocking a few more beers would be nice as we drank them all). The price per person for this trip is excellent value for money for the time you get! Next time we are in Ibiza we will definitely be coming back!

We are staying at Occidental Ibiza hotel, this beach it just 15 minutes walk. It's towards end of October and this small but beautiful beach it just what you need for a gentle swim in fairly 22°C water.

A beautiful little spot to walk around. Either take the dusty round behind Hotel Aura or walk along the right side of Port des Torrent beach and round. Loads of rock pools to explore. Easy to get into the sea but you'll need some sea shoes! There's a few trees where you can hide out from the sun if it's too hot!

We had the most amazing time on Wednesday night. All the staff are super friendly, the margaritas are incredible and all our whole grouped loved having a boogie to the band that we’re playing. My little girl was even on the mic at one point 😂 absolutely love this bar!! Would deffo recommend

By far the best bar we visited - loved it so much, we went back every day during our holiday. The decor is well thought out, the ambiance is the chilled out vibe we were looking for, away from the chaos of the main strip. Drinks are reasonably priced and the staff take pride in their service to customers. We reserved a table for the sunset and it was beautiful - just as beautiful as Café Mambo due to the vantage point. Enjoyed a variety of drinks - from well valued house wine to cheap beer to Sangria and some other cocktails (plenty to choose from). Would love to visit again next time. Thank you to the staff for making our holiday even more special.

Had mocktails and cocktails with my daughter here! Nice to be inside after you’ve had so much sun. The bamboo tikki decore is sooooo lovely. We also ordered some food which came from the place next door and we also enjoyed that. The woman serving everyone was so friendly honestly she made us feel so welcomed!! We saw there are games and plan to play some cards our next visit.

Tips for Visiting San Antonio’s Beaches and Sunset Spots

A little preparation goes a long way on Ibiza’s west coast, especially during the peak summer months when parking spaces fill quickly and the afternoon sun is at its strongest. The following tips are based on repeated visits to the area and reflect the realities of getting around, staying comfortable, and finding the best views without unnecessary stress.

Arrive early for the best parking and the calmest water. Most beach car parks around San Antonio are full by mid-morning in July and August, and roadside parking is often restricted. Morning visits also mean softer light for photography and fewer people on the sand.

Bring water shoes if you plan to explore rocky coves. Several of the quieter beaches around San Antonio have pebbly or rocky entries, and sea urchins can hide in the shallows. Water shoes make swimming and wading far more comfortable and safer.

Check the wind direction before choosing a beach. Western Ibiza can feel breezy, especially in the afternoon. If the wind is blowing from the west or southwest, exposed beaches may feel uncomfortable. Sheltered coves on the northern side of the bay are often calmer.

Carry cash for beach bars and parking. While many establishments now accept cards, some smaller chiringuitos and rural parking areas still operate on cash only. Having a small amount of euros on hand avoids awkward situations.

Stay for the full sunset, not just the moment the sun touches the sea. The best colours often appear ten to twenty minutes after the sun has dipped below the horizon, when the sky deepens into pinks and purples. Bring a light layer, as the temperature drops quickly once the sun is gone.

Respect the natural environment and local regulations. Many viewpoints sit above fragile cliffs, and some beaches are part of protected marine areas. Stay on marked paths, take your rubbish with you, and avoid disturbing the posidonia seagrass that keeps Ibiza’s water so clear.

The coastline around San Antonio rewards travellers who take their time. Whether you spend an entire day moving between coves or simply choose one beach and one viewpoint to savour, the experience is shaped by the light, the sea, and the slow rhythm of the island’s western shore.

San Antonio may be known for its energy, but its beaches and sunset viewpoints offer something deeper: a chance to pause and watch the day end over the open Mediterranean. That image stays with you long after the sun has gone.
