The huge, old trees tower above the paths, creating a peaceful and shady atmosphere that feels like a quiet escape from the city. The gardens are well kept, with plenty of benches to sit, relax, and enjoy the calm surroundings. It’s a perfect place for a slow walk or a moment of rest. The nearby church adds to the historic and serene character of the area.

Huge fig trees shade this pleasant park. Lots of benches to rest on, and a fine view of Iglesia del Carmen through the trees

Seems like a nice park - from the outside, since it was closed with no reason. Later we've found out that the explanation was posted only on one entrance. They've closed it because of the high heat, so you're not gonna get much use of it if you're visiting in the summer. Taking away a shaded place to rest away from the sun seems like the opposite of what to do in a heatwave...

The garden and park is popular with the locals and the trees are well maintained and huge to give nice shade during summer season. The promenade and walkways is wide and spacious. Plenty of benches to enjoy the views

What a charming little place. Full of peace and tranquility despite being in the city. Even better was the amazing perfume of the orange trees which were everywhere. Definitely worth a visit if you're looking to have a break from the hustle and bustle of city life.

A very calm place with various spaces to explore. I especially loved the Arab-style garden in the corner, where one can enjoy the soothing sound of flowing water. It is definitely worth taking a walk to relax and enjoy, as there is no heavy traffic nearby, making it easy to unwind and appreciate nature in the middle of the city.

Ah great for local families .. not really anything much to see wo children or just passing. Did see some things i didnt think i ever would ... siamese twin ducks (or something...eh heh eh heh)

It is very peaceful and nice here. But sadly, I noticed a lot of plastic thrown on the grass and the water. I tried to clean up the area and fell while picking a plastic wrap in the stream. There are no toilets but there is a water fountain where I was to able to wash off the dirt that got on me. 5/5 would come back here again.

Seriously do not understand the hype of this park. It’s ok, that’s all. Certainly not a destination park. I would not go if I was pushed for time and I would not make a point of going as a must see site. Got there as we were going elsewhere, and actually went to the cafe there which was also. Ok.

It looks fantastic! I couldn't enjoy it when I lived in Murcia a few years ago, but it's a very well-executed project with an ideal result for all the residents of Murcia and visitors to the city. The promenade is lovely, both for pedestrians and cyclists, with its own dedicated lane. Before, there was no path or anything. It includes benches, a grassy area, and vegetation that will grow to provide shade along the path. It's a real treat, both day and night. Let's hope they take good care of it.
Andrea Escobar★★★★★
A great place to escape the hustle and bustle of the city center. It's surrounded by numerous places for walking or relaxing in its park. I love it!
Quino nisani★★★★☆
It's an exceptional garden. There's a sandy area with a pulley system that recreates the waterwheels used for irrigation. But I would like to point out one thing. It's a shame that this part of the park doesn't have nighttime security or a closing time because at night there are groups of teenagers and young adults smoking and misusing these wonderful facilities.

It was a nice park, when we went it was clean and not too many people in the morning. Worth visiting!

One of the best parks in the city. It's family friendly, but it also offers a spot to work out. There's a pub/restaurant where u can have a drink or a snack. There's room for everybody with a huge square where kids play some football, whereas others walk their dog. At the end of the place you'll find the new area with artificial grass and a huge metal kind of tree. Well, to be honest it looks like a beehive instead. Kids can climb inside and go down the slide.

Nice place to hang out or do sports. I especially like that in Murcia, they take care of (and control) their pigeon population, as can be seen by the healthy birds and pretty dovecotes.

We went karting today and had lots of fun! It was an activity promoted by the city council regarding Christmas Holidays. Weather was cold but the activity was ok! Had to wait in the line for over 30min though. Anyway, it was worth it! Then, we visited the Three Wise Men campsite, which was nearby. It was expensive since it cost 8€ each. It was also fun and quite entertaining.

Nothing special to see, the place is ok, but when we visited there was plenty of low quality seasonal shops, the garden nearby was closed for a kids navidad activity so not visitable

This is another wonderful experience at the Alameda- Murcia Río Garden an atmosphere fantastic to enjoy nature, fresh air and one of the best place for family get together.

Last year it was a great park to visit with children. This year we returned and it was a huge disappointment. It's very neglected and poorly maintained. Nothing in the Water Garden works. Many of the sluice gates are missing and there's no water. The photos show the current state of the park.
Rubilett★☆☆☆☆
It's a disgrace that the Murcia city council doesn't carry out proper maintenance. I went a week ago and it was full of rubbish, even razor blades on the sand, posing a danger to the children who play there. It's a shame that such a lovely park has been neglected.
Juan Alberto Roca★★★★★
This garden is located between the Malecón promenade and the Murcia river, next to the highway. It has a children's playground and is dedicated to agriculture and water. There is an area that recreates irrigation systems and can be controlled from a mobile phone.

Been going for 10 year, a great water park with a new slide this year and the teenagers loved it. Food is always lovely, staff very helpful great day out. Buy your tickets on line to save the queue. Although you still queue for your wristband but at a shorter queue. Food upstairs at the smaller bar area is always great. You rent your sun beds and your float for the rides albeit some you don't need a float for. Delighted to see the whole park is all non smoking this year. Some organised people bring their own picnics too and there are plenty of picnic tables.
Lucie Šuchová★★★★★
Absolutely beautiful Zoo! We have visited Murica's zoo in mid may (out of main season) and we were amazed. Shades and plants everywhere, always some way to hide in front of the sun (30°C in shadow was superhot for us, not for locals😁). Zoo is designed as piece of nature with animals fitting into this nature, not typical cages and glasses. Restaurant was open just one, due to non season timing, but friendly servers and fine offer made even this visit perfect. Just next to bird/parrot show, which was just woow. We have boys 2,5 and 5,5 and for these small feet the zoo size was just enough for lunch+ zootour until closing hours. And for sweet ending there is gift shop with wide range of very nice toys and souvenirs. And for us perfect bonus was no ques no crowds almost no people. It was like a dream zoo day. Thank you ❤️
Anastasia★★★★★
The place is nice and peaceful, it was really enjoyable to spend a day there. However, sometimes it feelt like there were too many animals in an enclosure. For example why would you need five lions in that small area? Also, it was too many birds in a bird area, there was a lot of bird poop. Please pay attention to cleaning. Also, I had to stop a family that was feeding lemurs with some salad leaves. People need to know that feeding animals can be dangerous for their health, we don’t know which food is suitable to them, also we don’t know if we overfeed them. There should be workers supervising visitors so that nobody feeds or disturbs animals.
Gayne★★★★★
Great experience for ALL ages. We only attended the Waterpark and cannot comment on the zoo. Prices were extremely reasonable for drinks, lockers and float hire, if you don't want to wait for the free ones at the slides. Queues were generally very short except for the Tornado, but all worth waiting for, even on a super hot busy day!
Nige Thompson★★★★★
We had a fabulous time. Cost us €21 each for us 4 adults and free for kids under 3yrs. It's not the largest of zoos but still worth seeing with some great animals - lions, leapords, hippos, rhino's and giraffes etc. The aqua park has something for all ages and is extremely well staffed with lifeguards. Food, drink etc is very reasonable too for a place like this. Everything was very clean. I highly recommend that you visit this place, it far exceeded our expectations.

Tips for Visiting Murcia’s Parks and Gardens

To fully enjoy the green spaces of Murcia, a little local knowledge goes a long way. The city’s climate and cultural rhythms can significantly affect your experience, so planning ahead ensures you see these parks at their very best. The following tips will help you navigate the outdoor scene like a local, keeping you comfortable and safe while maximizing the beauty of your visit.

  1. Time your visit for the golden hours. During the summer months, temperatures often exceed 35°C (95°F) in the afternoon. Visit early in the morning or after 7:00 PM to enjoy cooler air and softer light, which is also perfect for photography.
  2. Carry water and sun protection. Even in the shaded parks, the Murcian sun is intense. Always bring a reusable water bottle, wear sunscreen, and consider a hat, especially between June and September when UV levels are highest.
  3. Check for local festivals. Many parks, such as the Jardín de Floridablanca, host temporary events, markets, or concerts. Check the city’s cultural calendar before you go, as these events can either enhance your visit or mean larger crowds than usual.
  4. Respect the siesta hours. If you are visiting playgrounds or public gardens near residential areas, be mindful of the traditional quiet hours between 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM. While not a strict law, keeping noise levels down during this time is appreciated by locals.
  5. Look for the water features. Many of Murcia’s gardens are built around irrigation channels and fountains that date back to the Moorish period. These spots are usually the coolest areas in the park and offer the best ambiance for a rest.

Murcia’s parks are more than just patches of grass; they are living museums that tell the story of the region’s relationship with water, agriculture, and community. By visiting these spaces, you are participating in a local tradition that spans generations, from the Moorish engineers who designed the irrigation systems to the modern families who picnic under the ancient trees.

As you explore, you will likely find that the pace of life slows down naturally. Allow yourself time to sit on a bench, watch the parrots fly between the palms, and appreciate the careful balance between urban development and nature that makes Murcia such a pleasant place to live and visit.
