12 Best Traditional Restaurants in Ronda

Sitting high above the dramatic El Tajo gorge, Ronda is a destination that captivates visitors with its views, history, and unmistakable Andalusian character. Yet beyond the famous Puente Nuevo and the cobbled old town lies a culinary landscape shaped by the surrounding Serranía de Ronda.

This rugged mountain region has long been a crossroads of cultures, and that heritage is reflected in its cooking. From rustic game stews and Iberian pork to seasonal vegetables and robust local wines, traditional food here is deeply tied to the land.

Finding an authentic meal in a city so popular with day-trippers can be a challenge, as tourist-focused menus often overshadow genuine local kitchens. Knowing where locals go for a slow-cooked stew or a perfectly grilled cut of meat makes all the difference.

The best traditional restaurants in Ronda are not always the most visible ones on the main square. Many are tucked into side streets, family-run for generations, and built on recipes that have remained unchanged for decades.

These establishments range from historic taverns with centuries of stories to humble dining rooms where the menu changes with the seasons. What they share is a commitment to local ingredients, time-honoured techniques, and the warm hospitality of the Ronda mountains.

In this guide, we explore the most authentic traditional dining experiences the city has to offer. Each entry has been chosen for its reputation among residents, its use of regional produce, and its ability to deliver a true taste of Ronda.

Whether you are planning a first visit or returning to explore deeper, these are the tables that best represent the soul of this remarkable town.

Absolutely amazing like I genuinely think that was one of the best meals of my life. We had an 8:30 reservation and we were seated outside. Sitting outside was nice but we wished we had brought bug spray as we sat under a tree that seemed to carry a lot of bugs unfortunately. So much food but we managed to rally because it was so delicious. When we went I went with 3 other people and we loved it. Started with bread with tomato and olive oil, asparagus, fried goat cheese, and duck egg with mushrooms (i dont even like mushrooms but i ate it upp). Then came the fish course. Two fish courses, not really sure what types but i heard lemon fish and both were white fishes, but those were also yummy (i also have never been big on seafood but it was delish esp the roasted veggies on the side). Save room for the next course bc the amount of steak that came next was CRAZY. Two plates of steak with this really good orange colored sauce and the waitress brought out a hot plate to sear the meat. So. Good. We were all so full but somehow that meat disappeared. Finally we were served two desserts. One was a warm supple pear with a white chocolate sauce and the other was a tiramisu. Tiramisu was nothing to write home about (i’m also just not huge on tiramisu and it wasn’t that sweet which i’m sure was intentional), but the peaches were SOOO GOOOD

Had the best lunch at Casa Maria last week! The food was beautiful, tasty and the best I had during all my trip around Spain! Maria is super nice and made us feel at home! Highly recommend but please book in advance as it could be busy and is a must go when jn Ronda! Thanks so much Maria, mom and team!

We stumbled across this place and ended up having one of the most memorable dining experiences we’ve had in a long time. No menu, no expectations—just complete trust in the chef. From the moment we sat down, the whole experience felt intentional and personal. Each of the four courses arrived as a surprise, and every dish somehow managed to outdo the last. Beautifully presented and full of flavour. What really stood out was the sense of theatre and generosity. The pacing was perfect, the service was warm without ever feeling overbearing, and there was a real feeling that the team genuinely cared about creating something special for each table. Just when we thought it couldn’t get any better, we were gifted a bottle of red wine to take home—a brilliant, thoughtful touch that means the experience doesn’t just end when you leave. If you’re looking for something beyond a standard meal—something immersive, surprising, and genuinely memorable—this is it.

Amazing restaurant, the food is perfect, no menus for a reason. Everything is fresh, seasonal, prepared in the best possible way. They know what they’re doing. We were a group of 12, they served us perfectly, from the first dish to desserts, to wine - delicious. I cannot wait to come back. We got two bottles as a gift, from Marina and her mom. Love them, love the place. Recommended.

We were able to make a reservation at this quaint restaurant at the last minute and we were happy we did. We thoroughly enjoyed being guided through our many dishes by our friendly, informed server. While this is not a high-end, refined meal it is certainly unique. We began with a simple toasted bread topped with tomato and olive oil and tasty grilled asparagus with feta. We particularly enjoyed the unusual goose egg, mushroom and Iberian ham appetizer! The white fish entree was delicious as well. By the time we got to the steak and potatoes with romesco sauce we were already full. The shared dessert was a creamy confection similar to a tiramisu but we were too full to enjoy it. To our surprise we were given a bottle of Casa Maria red wine as a thank you for visiting. Amazing! Yes, it may cost more than a tapas meal but it was so much better. PS. They play background music now so they are listening to their previous patrons comments. PSS. We paid a base of 45E each then wine on top. Wines by the glass were chosen by our server and were excellent.

One of the best meals we had on our Spain trip! If they don't already have a Michelin star, they should. Food quality and portions were such a good value. The patatas bravas were the best we've had and the gluten free bread was so soft and delicious! Great atmosphere and service as well. Make sure to make a reservation. 10/10!!
Narek Tambalyan★★★★★
Visited with my family and had one of the best steaks I've ever eaten. The Solomillo and Argentine Corazón were simply perfect. The salads, olives, wine, and desserts were excellent as well. Friendly, attentive staff made the experience even better. A place we'll definitely return to. Ronda is famous for its bridge and views, but places like this are just as much a reason to come back.
Ankur Verma★★★★★
After a hectic day tour of beautiful Ronda with our guide, we had very limited time before heading back to our bus. Instead of exploring the busy town center, we decided to try something different and wandered into a cozy spot tucked away deep inside Ronda. That’s where we had our very first paella — a delicious vegetable paella — and it absolutely did not disappoint. Although it took around 30 minutes to arrive at our table, the wait was completely worth it. The paella was freshly prepared, perfectly cooked, and packed with flavorful fresh vegetables. Every bite tasted authentic and comforting. The portion size was huge, more than enough for us, and we truly enjoyed every moment of the meal. It felt like a genuine Spanish dining experience — relaxed, flavorful, and memorable. They also did a parcel for our leftover paella. A perfect way to end our wonderful day in Ronda.
Jack Zhao★★★★★
We walked in without a reservation, had to wait for 45 to 60 minutes, so make sure you book a table in advance. The food was well worth the wait, must try in Ronda. It was also very affordable, 119 Euros for 4 adults, best meal for our entire Andalucia trip.

I think reviews are overrated a little but yes a nice place to eat and enjoy local hospitality, the two ladies that runs the place are very nice and friendly. Booking recommended as very small, we didn’t have but showed up at opening and we were put on waiting list for 1 hour which ok with us we had a drink around.

One of the best restaurants in Andalusia! The croissant with tuna tartare was stunning, croquettes were amazing and the oxtail tacos were simply scrumptious; highly recommend these. Our server was also very lovely and warm, he's a star!

Beautiful new restaurant in Ronda. Really enjoyed the variety and ingenuity of the dishes.
Natalia Cadena-Másmela★★★★★
Today my parents and I had the opportunity to eat lunch at Tarara and fortunately, we had a wonderful experience! Our server was kind and attentive, the space was clean, simple, and well-decorated, and the food we ordered was delicious. It was packed full of flavor yet still subtle and not over the top. We were so satisfied and happy with our meal and experience, which say a lot considering that we are picky and disappointed with many restaurants. We hope all the best for this new restaurant and we hope others will love it too!

Absolute culinary experience. I wish I could give this restaurant 6 stars for food. I don’t think I’ve ever had better fish tacos in my entire life. I will be returning before I leave Ronda, and probably on every subsequent visit. The menu was full of unique options, you must stop by if you are in Ronda, you will not regret it!
Tj Gross★★★★☆
In Ronda this is a great place to eat. The food is fresh and priced fair. Good location at the end of the strip. Selection of cheeses and meats are freshly prepared.

Genuinely, the best Tapas we ever had the flavours were unbelievable Rod and Sandra from Ireland. If we lived here in Rhonda, we will definitely come once a week probably have to go to the gym 1st to ease our conscience. Absolutely fantastic you e in awe with the experience

What imagination, innovation, dedication, presentation and execution. Not even AI could craft dishes this perfect. In Thomas and Paco we also had the privilege of two very attentive, efficient and kind waiters. One of the best dining experiences we have had in a country bursting with talented chefs and mind blowing flavours.
Julija Koletnik★★★★★
Most perfect meal and it was literally tomato in olive oil (tuna on the side, very accommodating). The small restaurant serves tapas style dishes, all very flavourful and freshly prepared with a fun wine selection on the side. Make a reservation!!!!

Worth the 45 or so minutes wait around noon on a random August Tuesday. Simple , delicious food, good selection of drinks, including a few types of Sherry, very friendly and efficient service and low prices. But above all, the atmosphere is just great, bustling with positive energy.
Martin Georgiev★★★★★
Excellent tapas with top‑tier food quality and very fast service. Every dish arrives perfectly cooked and full of flavor. The team works efficiently and keeps things running quick and smoothly. A great choice if you want delicious, authentic tapas without waiting long for service
Mike X★★★★★
Great service and great food. Order at the bar with a slip of paper you fill out. Stick with the small tapas as we liked those more than the big ones. Also, I know you want to get the "lechuguita" but it's a giant half of a Romain lettuce head with dressing. It's good but it may take all your stomach real estate.
Lu★★★★★
We were completely satisfied with this place! It’s a very authentic, typical Spanish tapas bar located in Ronda. The portions were great for tapas and the value for money is unbeatable. On top of that, we had the best Sangria we’ve ever tasted here! If you’re looking for the real deal, this is it. We’ll definitely be back!
Darren Cantwell★★★★★
Our tour guide recommended this place during a trip to Ronda and it did not disappoint. There was a line outside but it moved really fast. I was solo and had a chair at the bar. You choose what you want from the menu by filling out a slip of paper. It’s in Spanish but simple Spanish or you can use a translator. Each tapa is only €1.50. It’s such good value. Service is really fast and the staff are very friendly. It’s definitely worth it if you are visiting Ronda.

Great food, delightful service with staff speaking English and French. The terrace furniture is a little minimalistic but don’t let it deceive you. We were comfortable and ate extremely well!
Oceane Tahora★★★★★
We went there during our visit to Ronda and found this restaurant by chance. What a nice surprise! We didn’t have a reservation but there was still space for us. The tapas were really, really good 👌 The place is very cute and located in a quieter area, away from the tourists and the crowds, which we really enjoyed. We definitely recommend this place!!!
Akul Raizada★★★★★
This is a solid local stop if you want to eat like people here actually do. Everything goes on the wood fire, so the flavours are simple and honest. It’s right by the town hall, which makes the terrace especially pleasant for a long lunch or early evening drink. If you’re vegetarian, just speak to the chef, they’re usually happy to adapt.
Em Peneau★★★★★
We had an amazing dinner in this restaurant. Juan Luis and his compañeros looked after us really well and took time to explain the menu, recommend wine. The food was excellent. Those croquetas were the nicest we tasted during our trip. We were sat in the back room on our own as the front was full when we arrived, so it was a little quiet, but we could have a glimpsed at the kitchen with its wood oven! It was a bit pricey, but worth it.
Dr Juan F Martínez-Canca★★★★★
If I could give Mesón El Sacristán more than five stars, I would do it without hesitation. The food was absolutely outstanding, with a level of quality that is truly hard to match. Every dish reflected care, authenticity, and an evident respect for excellent local ingredients. The atmosphere of the place is extraordinarily pleasant and welcoming, the kind of setting that instantly makes you slow down and enjoy the moment. That said, the real highlight of our experience was the staff who looked after us well past 16:30 on a very busy day. Their warmth, genuine kindness, and good humor were simply exceptional and far beyond what one usually encounters. They made us feel not like customers, but like truly welcome guests. We were able to enjoy a leisurely lunch and an unforgettable afternoon-evening in a setting that is quite simply without equal. Without any doubt, Mesón El Sacristán is one of the very best places to enjoy in Ronda. A memorable experience in every sense.

We have been here a few times now and the service is always fast and friendly. The food is good and reasonably priced, offering good value for money, even if it doesn't quite reach the level of some of the higher-end restaurants in the area. The location is excellent, right on the main street, making it a great place to stop for a meal while exploring Ronda. Overall, a reliable choice if you're looking for good food, friendly service, and a convenient location without spending a fortune.
ArvinLea Verdeflor★★★★★
We chanced upon this restaurant while walking around the streets of Ronda. Almost all the tables were occupied so we thought it must be good. We ordered some tapas - chicken satay, fish cake and potatoes with egg, and a full serving of mixed croquettes. The chicken satay was amazing, it was tender and flavorful. The fish cake was good, it has a small salad on the side. I really like the salad so I ordered a small plate and they were able to accommodate me even though the salad on its own was not on the menu. My husband liked the potatoes with egg. The mixed croquettes were good too, but we wished we just ordered more of the chicken satay instead. The service was fast, and our server was very nice and efficient. If we had more time in Ronda, we would definitely come back.
YAFEA ALYAFEI★★★★★
I had the pleasure of visiting an amazing restaurant in Ronda during my day trip to the city. It boasts a wonderfully central location, making it quite convenient. I indulged in the Ronda-style steak, and I must say, it was absolutely delicious! The gazpacho was delightful as well. The service was impressively quick and excellent, which truly enhanced the experience. Plus, the prices were fantastic for the value offered. Overall, it was a lovely dining experience!
Haydar Levent★★★★★
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A true culinary gem in the heart of Ronda. Restaurante Las Maravillas perfectly combines authentic Andalusian flavors with a warm and lively atmosphere. The tapas are delicious, generously portioned, and very reasonably priced. Service is fast despite the restaurant being busy, and the staff are friendly and welcoming. The location is ideal for a relaxing break after exploring the old town. Whether you come for classic Spanish tapas or simply to enjoy the vibrant ambiance, this place definitely lives up to its name — a small “wonder” worth visiting.
Zane Gornall★★★★☆
The food was nice though the burger’s bread was dry, better would be a brioche one and more sauce needed. The pork cheeks were tender but not very flavoured. Overall is a nice place to visit.

Amazing service, everything was looking and tasting just perfect. The staff is so friendly and kind that they deserve 10 stars. The restaurant is top quality, but the prices are very accessible. We were amazed and will visit it again! Highly recommend!!!
Gray Scull★★★★★
The food was excellent. We had several Tapas, each of them tasted really good and special in its own way. The staff was really nice, the interior was pretty. I find these high bar-stools a little bit inconvinient and not as comfortable. The room upstairs is really a sight. One of the best restaurants i have been to in Andalucia. Dont forget in the high-season to make a reservation.
Andreas Winkler★★★★★
This restaurant's top rating is well deserved. We enjoyed the Menu Degustation and it was delicious. Every single course was very tasty and perfectly well cooked and arranged. Be prepared to stretch your stomach, the 3 starters are within reason and the fish plate could be handled. The final meat course, although outstanding in quality, was a bit too much. Anyways, well spent € 40 on the menu. The white and red wines we had were really good, you trust the waiters with their recommendations. Last but not least the service was friendly , helpful and attentive. A 100% recommendation.
Sibeal Nic Ginnea★★★★★
We had a fantastic experience here, i could sit in the high chairs inside and they set up a table for us outside without a second thought. The taps dishes were delightfully presented and so delicious. We had lamb and entrecote for dinner and this too was delicious and would come again next time in Ronda.
E C★★★★★
Seriously, this is the best meal I’ve ever had in Spain so far! Food is as good as Michelin stars to me, staffs are friendly, high quality food and delicate presentation, most importantly, price is very reasonable. Me and my husband are so glad that we find such a cozy restaurant to enjoy our dinner time. Highly recommend 👍

We went at sat at the bar next door and waited 10 mins and no one came to take our order so we decided to sit down at La BarFina and had some beer. The server David was lovely and served us right away, the beer was a local one and it was very good. Would highly recommend. It’s located right next to a 13th century wall, perfect atmosphere.

A true gem nestled in the quiet part of Ronda. We were lucky to have Davide as our waiter. What a pleasure, the food was outstanding, service even better. A must not miss whilst visiting Ronda.

We had the most amazing evening meal here, having recently visited Tarifa, Cadiz, Seville & Granada this was by far our favourite restaurant. The service was impeccable, the chef was excellent and so attentive to us, we also had the pleasure of meeting the owner. An amazing restaurant and we would recommend this highly to anyone visiting Ronda.
Sam Bamforth★★★★★
We had an incredible dining experience at this restaurant. The quality of food and service were both exceptional. We tried the tasting menu and the server kindly offered to change one of the courses to help suit our dietary requirements. All 5 courses were beautifully cooked, with enough time in between each course to savour the food. A definite 5* and I would highly recommend this place.

I LOVE this restaurant. This is my second time in Spain, and I'd have to say that this is the BEST meal I've had so far. I'm not the biggest fan of octopus, steaks and asparagus, but my husband did the ordering. The food blew my mind though. Tastefully done, delicious and overall, very very very yummy.

This restaurant is simply amazing. It’s really not far from the main shopping street. The ambience is very elegant and relaxed. The staff is very polite and nice. I highly recommend it. We had salad with goat cheese and dry fruit and deer tenderloin in wine souce from Malaga.

For most this would be a good restaurent to visit, sadly our visit went a bit pear shaped. When we arrived there was just a party of two others for lunch. As a time passed it soon filled up. Two mains were not what was ordered, however as time was short, we accepted. One steak was ordered, this turned up nearly twenty minutes after we all had finished our meal and the steak was not what was selected. Seven adults and one child, cost was euro 276, very reasonable. Food was good, shame the lunch was spoilt by two errors, waiter was very apologetic, I guess just one of those days
Halil Karatas★★★★★
A restaurant at the outskirts of the inner lively Center of Ronda but what a discovery! Everything was just exceptional, fresh, tasty and gorgeous 😄. We had salads, aged dear meat, fried rice and salmon, Antonio is a great person very attentive to his guests needs and extremely helpful to share useful info😍. I strongly recommend this place to anyone that loves great food.

Our Airbnb host recommended this place. It was the best meal we had in Ronda. We ordered scallops, tuna tataki and grilled squid. Every dish is so tasty. Service is also great. It is in a quiet neighborhood.

This place was amazing: cozy family run restaurant, with mother and daughter running it, while the father chats to the customers. The food was amazing, portions were generous and the service was fast. Both mother and daughter kept checking on us to make sure we had everything what we needed.

Superb! Perfect for people like us staying in the Autocaravan site nearby. Very welcoming hosts. Food very tasty and all at a good price. The restaurant also welcomes dogs - thank you!! There was a lovely atmosphere inside, mainly local Spanish and all very friendly. Would definitely recommend and return.

This is the place to go in Ronda! Carlos is very kind and attentive. I don't know much spanish but he was able to walk me through the menu. The food is AMAZING. We ordered tapas and wine and we're blown away by the service and flavor. If we are ever back in Ronda (hopefully) we will visit again! You won't regret coming here.

Stumbled upon this great place while out for an evening walk. I was the first client of the night, the owner warmly welcomed me and suggested me a variety of tapas, explaining the ingredients in them and throwing in some good humor along the way. I had the pleasure to try 4 different dishes, all of which were the best I’ve had during my time in Spain. You can really tell the staff care about what they do and offer up some great food. The decoration of the place is also very interesting and I’d recommend asking the staff about it, lots of character to the room! Even took the time to recommend me some places in the area, very kind Do yourself a favor and check it out!

We had a wonderful dinner while enjoying the beautiful view of Puente Nuevo. The staff, especially George, was incredibly kind and attentive. We truly appreciate his warm hospitality. Thanks to George, we were able to enjoy our holiday even more. It was a lovely and memorable evening!

I would say this is the restaurant with the most spectacular view I’ve ever been to. It was phenomenal if you get the table an hour before the sun set to watch the colors changes in real time. We had a great time there. Food is yummy but rather pricey for the portion and taste. However, the quality is good. In the end, if you choose to come here, you are paying more for the view than the food. If that is the case, then I would recommend making a reservation on the balcony for dinner.

If you're looking for a delicious lunch with amazing views while in Ronda, look no further than Arrabal! Their menu features quintessential Andalusian cuisine and a fantastic selection of wines from Ronda specifically. Food was delicious across the board and service was fast. Huge shout out to our waiter, Jorge! He was by far our favorite waiter on our honeymoon to-date with his patience, promptness, warmth, and high-quality service!

We drove all the way from Marbella to Ronda just to have lunch here and overall it was a lovely experience. The biggest highlight is definitely the location. The views are absolutely stunning and make the whole visit worthwhile. It was a little windy when we were there but honestly with scenery like that you don’t really mind. The restaurant itself is beautiful and has a relaxed elegant atmosphere. There were three of us. We wanted to order the squid paella for one person but we were told it could only be ordered for a minimum of two people. It turned out to be a huge portion especially since we had already ordered croquettes a fresh salad with sweet apple a burger with fries plus bread olives soft drinks and water. Aside from the croquettes, everything was very enjoyable especially the paella and the salad but there was simply too much food for us to finish. The only thing that let the experience down was the service. It was quite slow and for a restaurant at this level I expected it to be a bit more attentive. That said we’ve noticed that slower service is fairly common around southern Spain so it wasn’t completely unexpected. Would I come back? Probably not. Not because we had a bad experience. We didn’t. The food was good the setting was beautiful and we enjoyed our lunch. It’s just one of those places that’s perfect to experience once. Overall if you’re visiting Ronda and want to enjoy a meal with one of the best views in town it’s definitely worth a visit.

The restaurant is situated on the edge of the cliffs and comes with stunning views. Truly couldn’t ask for a more beautiful scene watching golden hour hit the bridge. Additionally, the service was exceptional. Waitstaff were quick to respond to your every need and very friendly. Only docked a star because the food itself was subpar and outrageously expensive. I ordered the Oxtail Ravioli and Fried Eggplant with Honey. Both were decent, but not worth their cost for how they tasted. Thankfully, you’re not paying for the food, you’re paying for the view.

Tips for Choosing a Traditional Restaurant in Ronda

A little local knowledge can transform a simple meal into one of the most memorable parts of your trip. Ronda has a high number of restaurants per resident, but not all of them offer the same level of authenticity or quality. The following practical tips will help you avoid the tourist traps and eat like a local, ensuring that every euro you spend supports the kind of traditional cooking that makes this region special.

Look beyond Plaza de España. The restaurants directly facing the main square and the most famous viewpoints often rely on passing tourist trade rather than repeat local customers. Walk a few minutes into the backstreets of the old town or the Barrio de San Francisco neighbourhood to find kitchens that work harder to earn your loyalty.

Follow the seasonal menu. Traditional Andalusian cooking is not static; it follows the rhythm of the mountains. If you see spring asparagus, autumn wild mushrooms, or winter game stews on a handwritten specials board, you are likely in a place that shops at the local market rather than a frozen food supplier.

Embrace the midday meal. The menú del día, or fixed-price lunch menu, is often the best way to sample a restaurant’s real cooking at a fair price. It usually includes a starter, a main course, dessert, and a drink, and it is what working locals eat during the week.

Ask about local wines. The Serranía de Ronda has its own protected wine designation, and a restaurant that proudly pours local reds and whites is one that cares about regional identity. If the house wine is a bulk import from another region while local bottles are on the shelf, ask for the local option.

Check the opening hours. Many of the most traditional family-run establishments close for a proper afternoon rest and reopen for dinner much later than tourists might expect. Booking ahead or arriving right at opening time for lunch or dinner will give you the best chance of a relaxed, unhurried table.

Look for the local crowd. A dining room filled with Spanish families on a Sunday afternoon, groups of friends sharing plates, or older residents greeting the owner by name is the strongest possible signal of a good traditional restaurant. If everyone around you is reading a translated menu, you are probably in the wrong place.

Do not skip the small plates. Even in a traditional sit-down restaurant, ordering a few raciones to share is a deeply authentic way to eat in this part of Spain. Dishes like croquetas caseras, migas, or a simple plate of jamón de bellota tell you a great deal about the kitchen’s skill before you commit to a main course.

Respect the local dining rhythm. Dinner in Spain is typically later than in many other countries, and Ronda is no exception. Arriving at 8:00 pm may mean an empty room, while 9:30 pm will find the same place warm and lively. Adjusting your schedule even slightly will reward you with a far more atmospheric meal.

The beauty of eating well in Ronda is that a great meal rarely feels like a formal occasion. It is often a long, unhurried affair of shared plates, local wine, and conversation that drifts late into the evening. The best traditional restaurants here understand that food is only part of what they offer; the other part is a genuine sense of place.

When you find a dining room where the owner remembers a regular’s order, the olive oil comes from a nearby cooperative, and the stew has been simmering since morning, you have found something worth travelling for. Ronda’s traditional tables are not just places to eat. They are living expressions of the mountains, the history, and the people who call this remarkable town home.
