12 Best Hotels Near Real Jardín Botánico

Finding the right place to stay can completely transform a trip to Madrid. When your itinerary revolves around the lush landscapes and historical greenery of the Real Jardín Botánico, staying nearby allows you to experience the city at a slower, more refined pace. This area, located adjacent to the famed Paseo del Prado, is not just about proximity to nature; it places you squarely within Madrid’s "Golden Triangle of Art."

The neighborhood surrounding the botanical garden is a seamless blend of literary history, world-class museums, and authentic local life. By booking a hotel here, you avoid the chaotic energy of the more commercial tourist districts while remaining within walking distance of the city’s most important cultural landmarks. It is the perfect base for travelers who value aesthetics, quiet mornings, and architectural beauty.

However, the definition of "near" can vary significantly in a city as dense as Madrid. Some hotels offer direct views of the garden’s iron gates, while others are a pleasant ten-minute stroll through the historic Barrio de las Letras. Understanding the layout of the Paseo del Prado and the Retiro district is key to choosing a property that matches your mobility needs and budget.

Accommodation in this prestigious zone ranges from intimate boutique guesthouses housed in 19th-century mansions to sleek, modern five-star establishments with rooftop terraces. Whether you are visiting for a romantic weekend, a solo cultural excursion, or a business trip, the area offers a diverse array of amenities. Many properties feature interior courtyards, a rarity in the city center, providing a quiet sanctuary after a day of exploring.

Dining and transport links here are exceptional. The Atocha train station is just a short walk away, making arrivals and departures effortless, while the charming streets of Las Letras offer some of the city’s best tapas bars. Staying near the Real Jardín Botánico means you are strategically positioned to explore the Museo del Prado in the morning and enjoy a quiet sunset walk among rare flora in the evening.

Because this is a highly sought-after area for cultural tourists, room availability can fluctuate, especially during spring and autumn when the garden is in full bloom. It is wise to book well in advance to secure a room that offers the specific character and comfort you desire. Whether you prefer historic opulence or minimalist design, this guide outlines the finest hospitality options in the vicinity.

Below is a curated list of the most exceptional places to stay, each selected for its quality, location, and distinct character, ensuring you find the perfect home base for your botanical adventure.

I was happily surprised that the reviews for this 2-star hotel were spot on. We loved the location — it was right near the train station, with restaurants, a museum, and souvenir shops just downstairs. We barely had to go far, which was perfect since we only planned to stay one night. We're so glad we made time for something fun and memorable like the Ikono Museum, which is fantastic for my autistic daughter. She loved every bit of it, and we got some wonderful photos to remember it by. The room was clean and comfortable, with a working air conditioner — an absolute must during a heatwave. I was pleasantly surprised to find a bidet too, which is a huge plus, especially for Asian guests (iykyk!). The staff were friendly, helpful, and accommodating throughout our stay. Even small gestures, like helping us carry our luggage on the way out, made a real difference. I should also mention the hotel is wheelchair accessible, which is a great plus for accessibility-conscious travelers. Honestly, I was skeptical that a 2-star hotel could have so many glowing reviews, but now I understand why. They truly deserve another star for their hospitality.

The staff of the front desk are very very nice! They r very helpful, all the time with their smile on their face, n this is very important in the hotel industry. They can talk very good in english with me, especially Mario. I think they r very polite n warm, love it. I asked them also about info of Madrid n Barcelona n they just sincerely tell me what they know. Mario is such a lovely n helpful guy, also Maurice n Mari Carmen r so nice to help us wth the room.
Jacqueline Baldwin★★★★★
A truly lovely old hotel! We loved our corner room with a fabulous view over the square. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful and the beds were so comfy. Quality linen and good sound proofing make it an excellent choice for a very rare combo of good rest and central location!

Hotel Mediodia is in an excellent location right next to Atocha Station, making it very convenient for sightseeing. The room was very clean and surprisingly quiet. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the service was excellent. I especially liked the individual air conditioning, which lets you easily adjust the room temperature for comfort. The Airport Express Bus (Line 203) stops nearby and runs from 6:00 to 23:30. Bolt or Uber to the airport is also a great option — faster and more convenient than taking trains, especially since it avoids transfers. The ride typically costs around €20–€26. Great value for the location and comfort. Would stay again.
Suzanne Jones★★★★★
We had a great stay at Hotel Mediodia! The location was perfect - walking distance to museums, gardens, train station, wonderful restaurants. The room was small but very clean and the beds comfortable. We had a cute balcony and lovely view of the square behind the hotel, including the Reina Sofia Museum. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The breakfast buffet was plentiful and open from 7-11am. I would definitely stay again!

Maybe the worst accommodation we’ve ever stayed in. First of all, the photos don’t show that there are no windows!!!!! Either the rooms have no windows at all or the windows face the hallway. The room smells awful and is full of mold, the hair dryer doesn’t work… In Madrid it was around 35°C on average, and not only did the room smell constantly, but the air conditioning didn’t work either!!!! We had a separate bathroom, which greeted us with hair under the sink, and I won’t even start talking about the shower. You can’t run the water normally – you have to keep pressing a button like you’re in a shopping mall, because apparently they want to save water. Our room was next to the shared toilet used by five other rooms, so people were constantly slamming the door in the morning, and since the walls are paper-thin, you can hear everything, including when someone is using the toilet. All in all, if I could give them 0 stars, I would.
Joey De los Reyes★☆☆☆☆
The reviews and rating in booking.com is not true. The actual facility is far from what is posted in booking.com specially the bathroom and toilet. Its hot in the room you cannot adjust the temperature. We felt like we’ve been scammed and we have to book a new accommodation the next day. Its funny and annoying when we checked out the same receptionist who gave us our key didn’t even care and just ask us to leave the keys on the counter top and let us leave without ask it seem like its a normal scenario for them. I don’t recommend to book this place as you can find a better one with way lower price.
Jinete Solitario (TR)★★☆☆☆
It was somewhat cheap and definitely central and the wifi worked well. Our room had an air conditioner that worked well but it made a lot of noise. Throughout the 5 night stay, sleeping could be particularly difficult due to other guests slamming doors, talking and yelling all hours of the day and night. Worst was what seemed to rationing of toilet paper in the shared toilets - include buying your own in your budget. The shower/toilet blocks were dirty and what was the worst was that despite having cleaners working there, the smear and pieces (yes... pieces) of feces on the toilet room wall remained there from the day we arrived until day we left. Staff were friendly but lack of enforcement of civility on problematic guests, and lackluster approach to care of residence points towards staff care very little of the residence having any quality.
mikel thepickle★☆☆☆☆
Rated high on booking but this place is not very good. They ask you don’t eat or drink in the room, little insulation between rooms, no seat, no microwave. The shower is push button you gotta push every 30 seconds. Don’t do it!
Benjamin Schickel★★★★☆
We had a private room with a shared bathroom. The bedroom is simple, the bed is comfortable, it was clean. We had a small window and a small balcony with a view on the street. The building inside looks kind of old and not in a very good condition, you can see it's on the cheap side. But it's fine to spend some nights in the city if you just need a place to sleep. The location within the city is great but mainly touristic. Two very small bathrooms were shared on one level by approx 10-15 rooms. They seem to be cleaned once or twice a day, so in the morning they look used after several persons taking a shower. Also toilet paper can be frequently empty, I had to ask once the receptionist to refill it in the morning. The bathrooms are not very well equiped, missing some space to put your clothes or utensils. All in all a good place with everything necessary in okay condition but not more than that. Staff was always friendly.

I really enjoyed my stay at this hostel. The rooms were clean, and everything felt new and comfortable. The administrator was very helpful — when we had a language barrier, he suggested we communicate by messages in a language we were comfortable with. We were allowed to leave our luggage before check-in and also for a few hours after check-out for free, which was very convenient. The kitchen has everything you need: microwave, oven, kettle, coffee machine, fridge, and lockers (you can also buy locks). The hostel is quiet both day and night, so it was easy to relax and sleep. Each bed has curtains, a personal light, and a socket. The location is great — about 10 minutes from Renfe Atocha station and the Retiro park, and around 40 minutes walking to Gran Vía. There were a couple of small issues: hair in the bathroom, and once there was no hot water, probably because I showered right after someone else. I think I’m just not used to the water system in Spain. Overall, I had a very good experience and would recommend this hostel.
sonia aguilar★★★★★
This hostel is really cool! One of the best I’ve been. Pretty clean and good smelly. Bathrooms are inside the rooms but separated from the beds which is great! Bunkers have a dark curtains for better sleep and privacy. Also AC in all rooms, plugs for charging battery and private light on each bunker. Shared kitchen with all basic needs: microwave, fridge and electric kettle for boiling water. No stove if you want to cook but in my case not needed. Very well located near Central Atocha station which leads you easily to the airport. A few minutes walk from principal museums! I loved it pretty much I highly recommend!! The only problem I had was that I booked several nights from 27 June to 2nd July and by mistake one night was not booked so I had to move to another hostel and then come back. Totally understandable as mistakes happens but I’ve read in some others reviews it’s a constant mistake so I think this is an opportunity area for them to make it better! Also Rafael attention was AWESOME pretty helpful and kind, but there’s a lady Ailine who seems to be the manager I think, not sure, and she was moody almost all the time and even sometimes rude in my opinion. I come from Mexico and they are from Venezuela so we’re practically brothers! And felt a little sad with her attitude, so no matters if I’m Latina or not it’s always good when traveling if we can have not only Great place to stay regarding cleaning but also amiability can be very welcome and appreciated. Maybe she had bad days so I tried to be the nicest I could and at the end I appreciated she let me store my luggage for more time after my check out to go to and exchange money place for my next trip to Rumania. Definitely THE BEST HOSTEL in Madrid to stay!!!

first time staying at this hostel and i must say it was pleasant time here! Very connected to to main things by walk or metro ,the rooms(especially the shared ones)are in great condition and very clean. Didn’t have any bad situation with other guests so if u want to have different staying experience i would suggest to come at this place. Would definitely give them a small feedbacks: please remove charging options for towels since i guess many of them brought only small amount which is allowed in their luggage and i late check ins is something which i would also charge since many guests when they come later xan be really noisy and making unnecessary noise for others in their luggage room
Ryan Ip★★★★☆
The hostel was very clean and looked very modern. Staff was very helpful and attentive with helping out if you have questions. The dorm was spacious with comfortable bunkbeds. The toilet and showers were also very clean and tidy. The kitchen had all the equipment to cook your own food. The common area is a tad too small though if you are with a big group. Madrid Atocha train station is also in walking distance. Going into the city center is doable on foot or take the public transport.

The best place that I’ve stayed so far, I’ve stayed in some hostels while in Spain and in the rest of Europe and it’s indeed the best that i have experienced! Definitely a place to come !! The staff is absolutely amazing, the place is spotless! If you want to be safe and in a clean space this is the place

A hidden gem in the heart of the city. Located in an old building with a small elevator, the owner offers modern, air-conditioned rooms. The bed is made every day! 300m from Anton Martin metro station. Auchan supermarket around the corner.
Franco Napoli★★★★★
The rooms have been modernized in a picturesque, historic complex, and the location is ideal for exploring all the city's highlights on foot. The manager (Rubén) is very friendly, and complimentary items are left in the rooms for guests. The rooms have a minibar. The bed is king-size and very comfortable. Highly recommended!

Perfect place to spend a few days in Madrid. My dad and I stayed and we were very comfortable. The facilities were brand new, as they had just been renovated. Excellent location. Comfortable rooms with everything you need to make your stay as pleasant as possible. Everything was impeccably clean. Rubén and his partner were incredibly friendly and welcoming. A place I would recommend and return to EVERY TIME.

A very nice and clean hotel in a prime location. The bed was comfortable and the room was spacious enough. However, the hot water supply in the shower was sometimes problematic, and I would have appreciated it if the coffee had been replenished daily.

This one saved me from my own irresponsibility of not finding a hotel in advanced. Really reasonable price. We even got 70 euros a room while everywhere else it was 110 plus. The receptionist is an amazing person, she has a very kind personality and she treats everyone with so much respect it feels like a high class hotel. Totally recommended

We booked 2 private rooms with the bathroom last minute for being very close to the train station. There is always a receptionist to hand over keys. There was no coffee machine in the rooms. The bed was basic and everything was clean.

Hostal Alegría is definitely a place I would stay again. Marta and Manuel were very accommodating. The rooms are very clean and the location is great. It's close to almost anything you would need and right next to Train station Puerta de Atocha. If you're looking for a place to stay this is your place.

Room is nice and clean, AC works great nice and cold, they provide everything that you need. Staff so nice
Shaun Cechner★☆☆☆☆
The beds were extremely uncomfortable, but even worse there was an infestation of bed bugs. I didn't sleep a wink and now my body is covered in bites. When I told the host, she didn't care. She shrugged and said "no se". I can't believe my girlfriend and I paid 40 Euro for no sleep and bed bugs. Also, the beds were so uncomfortable that I had to keep turning every 30 minutes because my hips were in pain. Also, to get in to the hostal late, people have to press a buzzer to get in. If there was a moment I almost got to sleep (even considering the beds bugs and uncomfortable beds) the buzzer went off at least once an hour to wake me up! Last of all, the shower had no pressure. I had to lean against the wall to get wet. Don't stay here. Do not stay here.

This is a BADLY run, dirty hostel. More often than not, there is no one at the front desk to help. When we did find someone, they gave us a keycard to the room and a small key to a storage locker, which seems very flimsy and insecure. We stowed our luggage and ate our food in the little kitchen. Then we tried to get back into our room to get to our luggage and were unable to open the door with the key card. There was no one at the front desk to assist. other people had shown up and there was no one at the front door to help them check in. We all had to help each other. There were a couple of people who were able to make the key cards work and some people ended up waiting more than an hour to check in. It's been a long time since basic maintainence has occurred. The mattress was bad. We got a two-person bed and it sagged in the middle. There is a support leg for that which is bent - an easy fix. There was no top sheet. Just a fleece blanket. If you want to shower you have to rent a towel. When we first arrived, there was no one from the hostel present. We had just walked there from the train with our baggage. We had to lug our bags during that day. Worst lodging experience. Ever. Location is good, tho.
Elaine Marsiglia★★★★☆
The rooms were acceptable and the bathroom was clean enough. They have a kitchen which is nice if you want to prepare easy meals (no stove). There is no common areas which is a bit uncomfortable. The price is reasonable and it is well-located. I slept just one night so it was fine. However, they were people talking on the phone late at night and it was a bit uncomfortable.
Natalie Langenderfer★★★★☆
I misplaced a gift during checkout and wasn’t able to recover it. Staff communication around lost-and-found could have been better.
Szucsics Brigitta★★★★☆
The hostel itself was cheap, the rooms were clean, although the bathroom is small and not comfortable to bathe in, but at least it is cleaned every day. You have to pay a 10 euro deposit for the locker, which can be locked with a key. When you enter, you are greeted by a strange smell. In the 12 bedroom room there isn't window, in the summer it can be too hot.
Isabella Ballon★★★★☆
The staff here are beyond accommodating and helpful. They happily moved my friends in an all female room because we would feel more comfortable there than a mixed dorm. I left a few items behind and came back and they helped me look for 10 minutes and were super nice about everything. The sheets are clean, and it was nice to have a locked locker for my belongings while I was staying here. It’s a great price for this location. The staff really stood out here- they are doing a great job! Thank you!

The room was clean and tidy, but there was no fridge, no kettle, and no glasses or cups. The bed was comfortable, the room well insulated from street noise, and the air conditioning worked decently during hot days. The biggest issue was the breakfast and service – very poor quality and extremely slow. You wait up to half an hour because it’s not a buffet but a menu, so everything takes longer. The location is good and well connected, but due to the breakfast and service, I wouldn’t stay here again.
Lori Wessel★☆☆☆☆
We booked a room at hotel soho boutique congress online and arrived to have staff tell us that our reservation is at itc mora, even though the reservation email confirmation indicated our reservation was at shoe boutique. No rooms at congress so we had to walk 15 minutes to itc hotel. This was a bait and switch or they rented out our room andsent us to this 2 star hotel. We pad for 4 star and got this 2 star hotel. No refund offered. We booked near metro with handicap and got this hotel close to metro wo elevator. Itc mora room was tiny. Ridiculous tiny. Place was quiet as most rooms empty. Even though we put do not disturb on door, our room was cleaned. Personal Things moved and put in drawers. A list of all guests was left near elevator when we left one day. Easy for anyone to take a picture and get names and rooms numbers. Breakfast was coffee and crescent. Place was quiet but you can hear toilets flush in other rooms. We would not stay again, but beds ok and it was cleaned. Room smelled of purfume cleaning product. I would have left better review if they admitted mistake and gave us discount. Again. We paid for 4 star hotel with buffet breakfast and got tiny room with a coffee.
Balázs Varga (AnonimInc.)★★★☆☆
The reception has an old-timer, bit nice look, and every receptionist I met was really nice. As you start going up the narrow stairs, or the really noisy, tiny lift, you realize that the place is not that nice. The room did not look like as it did on the pictures. It felt old, with carpet instead of wood flooring, the wall at the desk was dirty, no outlet was close to the bed, TV was crooked, and the sound isolation was basically non-existant. Credit to the AC, which worked really well. The breakfast is a "choose one of the 4 options" type deal, and the staff in there were quite slow to get my order, but when I went up to them to ask, they ordered me to sit down. The best quality of the place is definitely the location, but I felt like I paid more than what this was worth.
Barbaros Üsekes★☆☆☆☆
Hotel has great location and friendly front desk staff, but the rest is just terrible. The hotel rooms are extremely noisy with zero soundproofing. You can hear guests walking in the room above you. When someone flushes the toilet or uses the shower in another room, the sound of the water runs straight through your room, you can hear it clearly. This was the case for the both rooms we had in this hotel. At 1 a.m., you wake up to someone stomping and thumping above you. Then you hear water rushing through the pipes because someone in another room is using the bathroom. It was impossible to get a decent night’s sleep. It's like you wake up to a waterfall going thru your room. The beds are very uncomfortable. You can feel the springs digging into your body and hear them creaking whenever you move. Absolutely terrible beds. The bathroom is so cramped that you can’t sit properly on the toilet because it’s too close to the wall. You have to angle yourself to the left just to sit down. The rooms are outdated and poorly maintained. It feels like the hotel hasn’t been renovated since it was built , it’s like stepping back into the 1990s. Breakfast consists of four ready-made options from a set menu. Each option includes coffee (or tea) and juice, but a second cup or glass is not included, so you have to pay extra. I highly recommend having breakfast elsewhere. You can get a much better breakfast for the same price outside the hotel.
Peter★★★★☆
The hotel is located close to the railway station Atocha. There is a metro station 5 minutes away from the hotel. There are plenty of restaurants and bars in this area. 2 min behind the hotel is a supermarket. The room is not big, but has enough space. The bath is enough for a shower, but too small to take a bath. The balcony is good for fresh air, but too small to put chairs and a table outside. Breakfast is good, but depending on how many guests there is some waiting time and availability of foods (no self-service). In sum 4 stars.

I had a very bad experience at Madrid Downtown Hostel. The rooms were dirty and had a strong unpleasant smell, making it impossible to rest properly. The bathrooms were also in very bad condition, and at some point there was no water, which is completely unacceptable. The situation got worse when I complained. The staff were rude and did not try to help at all. Because I do not speak Spanish, I felt completely ignored and misunderstood. Instead of finding a solution, they escalated the situation and kicked me out. Even though I had already paid, they refused to refund me. I was treated unfairly and left without any support. Overall, this was a terrible experience, especially for non-Spanish speakers. I would not recommend this hostel to anyone.
Burhan Uddin★☆☆☆☆
The room was extremely small, and the bed was also very small and uncomfortable. The blanket provided was insufficient in size, making it impractical to use, and the pillow was of very poor quality. Additionally, the bed was positioned next to a window that could not be properly closed due to the size of the bed frame. As a result, there was constant noise coming from outside, making it impossible to sleep comfortably both during the day and at night.
wakkaka kakakaka★☆☆☆☆
save yourselves and dont come here, i feel so unsafe that i could barely sleep at all. also so many sketchy people around and the doors dont lock, lockers are in the common area far away from beds, have no idea if someone is gonna steal. do. not. book. this. place.
Spencer Charles★☆☆☆☆
Was my first time trying out a hostel and instantly regret choosing the cheapest option. About $150 of my clothes were plain stolen from my room and the staff brushed it off like it was nothing, putting no effort into checking the cameras or checking the “lost and found” that they supposedly had. Rooms were freezing and super cramped like a prison cell, and everyone I was rooming with felt like an ex-convict level of sketchy. Janitors do not even clean the beds they just spray the whole room with perfume. In my option this is an absolute no go. Zero service, zero assistance, and I felt unsafe the entire time. You literally couldn’t leave one item out unattended without it being stolen in a couple of minutes. I understand trying to get a cheap hostel but this one is not worth it at all, as I now have to buy a new set of clothes and toiletries. Overall extremely mid experience and wouldn’t recommend to my worst enemy.
ahnaf fakhri★☆☆☆☆
No star should be given to this hostel. The cleaner not even change the bed sheet. They just spray perfume. The guest very weird. Like homeless stay also i can say. No ventilation on the room. The air stuck in a room. The kitchen also not proper, utensils not even clean. Even there’s a guest use the microwave to dry their shoes. The manager i think very rude. Wifi cant reach the room. Overall this hostel should not be exist. Also how can our locker be outside of the room. And u need to rent a padlock. Towel also need to pay. Please dont book this hostel for your own peace mentally and physically.

Everything was new and meticulously maintained. The room was spotless, beautifully designed, and made with high-quality materials. The location is fantastic, and the online check-in is incredibly convenient: you arrive, log in with your code, and you're all set. A very easy and pleasant way to stay in the heart of Madrid.

Excellent stay at the hotel. The facilities are spotless, the staff is extremely professional, and the location is unbeatable. The rooms are comfortable, quiet, and perfect for both relaxing and working. Definitely a place to return to on my next trip.

I was pleasantly surprised. It's in an incredible location, right on Plaza de las Cortes, but inside it feels very peaceful. The room was spotless, everything was very clean and well-maintained, and the quality of the materials and design is very noticeable; it's not your typical tourist accommodation that's been thrown together quickly. I also liked the concept: you have the freedom to come and go as you please, without a traditional reception desk, but at the same time, you're always available if you need anything. Everything was very easy and convenient. The bed was incredibly comfortable, the bathroom was beautiful, and overall there were many small details that made the stay feel special. I would definitely return.
YOLANDA TOMICO-DELRIO★★★★★
The rooms are brand new. We traveled as a family and booked two. They were fantastic. We loved the decor and the details, and they were very comfortable. The beds are amazing. One of them had a view of the Plaza. Wonderful! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Great! The location is incredible! The best in Madrid. We'll be back!

My husband and I have a two week stay at this hotel and we could not recommend it more highly. The location is what drew us to the hotel but the service will keep us coming back. The entire team is incredible. We have gotten to know the staff in the breakfast salon and the restaurant in the lobby quite well, and they’re all very attentive, professional and kind. The housekeeping staff are also responsive and friendly, as we also did laundry during our trip. Special gratitude to Jose, Cassio, Fatima and the other incredible staff who took care of us for two weeks! You made us feel at home during our time working remotely in Madrid. Thank you!

This wonderful hotel offers beautifully maintained facilities, a calm and relaxing atmosphere, and an excellent breakfast that sets the tone for a great day! What truly makes the difference, however, is the people. The professionalism, friendliness, and attention to detail shown by the entire team are exceptional and create an experience that is both seamless and memorable. A place that truly understands the meaning of hospitality. We look forward to returning.

Cassio, our bar server was fantastic. He enjoyed practicing his English as I struggled with my Spanish. While the food was great (cheese selection - perfect!) I think Cassio was even better- service with a smile, attention to detail, and kind to every patron… even the grouchy English couple 2 tables away from us. Thank you 😁

I rarely write reviews, but this hotel truly deserves one. This was my second stay, and from the moment I arrived, I felt genuinely welcomed. Being recognized as a returning guest was already a lovely surprise, but what touched me most was being greeted with warm birthday wishes and such thoughtful attentions from the team. It may seem like a small gesture, but it made me feel incredibly special and cared for. The hotel itself is fantastic: incredibly comfortable beds, peaceful and quiet rooms, and one of the best breakfasts I’ve had in a long time. Everything is designed to make you feel relaxed and at home. A special thank you to Julia, Álvaro, and the entire reception team. Their kindness, professionalism, and genuine warmth made me feel truly welcome from the moment I arrived. They are a real credit to the hotel and a big part of the reason why I look forward to coming back. There are many beautiful hotels in Madrid, but very few places make you feel at home. This is one of them. It’s the little details, the genuine care, and the people behind them that make all the difference. Thank you to the whole team for another wonderful stay. I can’t wait to return!

We have used this hotel many times over the years. Its recent interior refurbishment has been successful. The location is hard to beat for connectivity, being a short walk from Estacion Atocha, the Metro, the city terminus of the 203 airport bus and a host of local buses. Rooms overlooking the Paseo del Prado or the C de Atocha are very well soundproofed. Breakfast is from a vast self-service selection in a spacious room.

We booked a room for two with a shared bathroom. The room is very small, with limited walking space, and the wall is very thin which you can even hear the snoring from other rooms, other than that everything is good. There is a TV and a fridge. Although it says a shared bathroom, but only two rooms shared the same bathroom, which is good and it is clean. The staff is very helpful.

The room was clean and the bed comfortable; the bathroom was tiny and the sink was the smallest I’ve ever seen; the shower was powerful and put a nice end to a hot summer day; for a bigger person the shower may feel a bit hard to maneuver, but hey, it’s an experience! The location was perfect, central and close to many bars, restaurants and shops and right next to the metro. Staff was quiet but friendly and helpful. We needed to store our luggage for a few more hours after checking out and they gladly helped for free. The only negative was the noise on the street, but you got to feel the hustle and bustle of the city…

**Warning: Avoid This Property!** This hotel deserves a rating of -5. Beware! We strongly caution anyone considering booking here. Our reservation was abruptly canceled under the pretext of "renovations" or "room issues." However, it’s clear they canceled our booking, made well in advance, simply to increase the price. This happened to us today. When we tried to address the issue, the hotel representative not only canceled our call but also advised us to take up the matter with Booking.com. While Booking.com has been as supportive as possible, they acknowledged that we are not the first guests to experience this type of unjust cancellation. We are currently awaiting the carta de reclamación—a formal complaint form available in Spain—to file an official complaint and help prevent other customers from experiencing this unprofessional behavior. This kind of conduct is unacceptable and must be addressed. We urge potential guests to think twice before booking this property to avoid similar inconveniences.

♿🚭 The rooms really felt clean and had no smoking smell at all. We took a room with a shower and the pressure and heat from it was great. There was shampoo and soap. The whole place was clean, and all reception contacts were on time, pleasant, and helpful. If you are coming from the airport get off in Plaça Cibeles, but on your way back to the airport go to Antocho station and catch the blue bus 203. It will be very easy to find. The place is ready to access with a wheelchair as there is a lift. The negatives here were 1) the quality of the bed, which for me was a bit too much on the soft side but it may be alright for you and more importantly 2) the noise from the streets even when both the window and the ventana were fully closed. Since the room was compact and did not allow for other forms of aeration I eventually had to open the window, at which the noise increased. In the early hours of the morning (5-7 am) it was mostly quite, but not outside of these hours. On a similar note 3) noise from other rooms if people talked loud. 4) noisy bed if you are doing night sports with your partner and you want to respect other people. Check in and access was super easy. Overall a good quality price deal if on special (45€), but not fit for more than that.

I got a room with a balcony and nice views to the street in such a centric location. Spotless white everywhere in this just renewed hotel. Not too noisy as it is located located in a quiet spot of a lively street. As a negative point I would highlight that the reception seems to be unattended most of the time , so you need to call a mobile to check in...

Essential Tips for Choosing Your Stay Near the Botanical Garden

Selecting the right hotel requires more than just looking at a map; it is about understanding the micro-neighborhoods and the specific benefits of each property type. The area around the Real Jardín Botánico is compact but varied, with different streets offering distinct atmospheres. To help you navigate your options and enhance your overall experience, consider the following practical advice before making your reservation.

Prioritize the Paseo del Prado side for museum access.
If your primary goal is to visit the Prado, Thyssen-Bornemisza, and Reina Sofía, choose a hotel on the western edge of the garden. This places you directly on the tree-lined boulevard, reducing transit time and allowing you to return to your room for a midday siesta between gallery visits.

Don’t underestimate the value of an interior-facing room.
Madrid is a vibrant city that stays awake late. While a street view offers atmosphere, it can also bring noise from late-night revelers in the nearby Plaza Santa Ana. Requesting a room facing an interior courtyard or the garden itself usually guarantees a much quieter, more restful sleep.

Check for rooftop terraces and garden views.
Several hotels in this district feature rooftop bars or terraces that offer panoramic views of the Royal Observatory and the lush canopy of the garden. While these rooms often come at a premium, the ability to watch the sunset over the treetops is an unforgettable experience unique to this location.

Consider the proximity to Atocha Station.
If you are taking day trips to Toledo or Segovia, or arriving via high-speed rail, staying on the southern end of the botanical garden is highly strategic. It allows you to walk to the station in under ten minutes, eliminating the need for taxis or navigating the metro with luggage.

Look for boutique properties with breakfast included.
While the area is full of excellent cafes, a hotel breakfast in Spain is often a lavish affair of cured meats, fresh fruit, and pastries. Opting for a rate that includes breakfast can save you time in the morning and provide a more relaxing start before heading into the garden or museums. The proximity to Atocha also connects you seamlessly to the airport bus line, making your entire transit experience smooth from the moment you land. Ultimately, the perfect hotel is one that balances your desire for culture with the need for physical comfort and convenience.

Madrid is a city that rewards those who walk. By choosing a base near the Real Jardín Botánico, you grant yourself the luxury of moving between nature, art, and gastronomy without the friction of long commutes. It is a decision that prioritizes immersion over observation, allowing the rhythm of the city to dictate your days rather than a metro schedule.
