Torremolinos has long outgrown its reputation as just a summer sun-and-sand destination. These days, the town attracts digital nomads, slow travellers, and coffee connoisseurs who want more from their morning cup than a rushed caffeine hit. The café scene here has matured into something genuinely worth exploring, with independent roasters, plant-based kitchens, and family-run pastelerías sitting comfortably alongside traditional Spanish breakfast spots.
What makes the café culture in Torremolinos distinctive is its blend of coastal relaxation and Andalusian tradition. You can still find the classic tostada con tomate and café con leche in a no-frills bar, but you can also discover specialty flat whites, cold brews, and açai bowls just a short walk from the beach. The town’s compact size means you rarely need to travel far between a sea-view terrace and a hidden courtyard café.
For visitors staying near the Paseo Marítimo, the morning ritual often begins with a walk along the promenade before settling into a shaded table. In the older neighbourhoods, such as La Carihuela and El Calvario, cafés tend to open early and fill with locals who have been ordering the same breakfast for decades. This contrast between old and new is part of the appeal.
Seasonality matters here. While many beachfront cafés operate year-round, some of the smaller independent spots adjust their hours in winter. If you are visiting between November and March, it is worth checking social media or making a quick phone call before heading out. The reward is often a quieter, more personal experience with baristas who have time to talk about the beans they are pouring.
The local coffee scene also reflects broader Spanish dining habits. Coffee is rarely rushed, and it is common to see people lingering over a single cortado for half an hour. That relaxed pace is something to embrace rather than fight. Budget-wise, a standard coffee and toast breakfast can cost as little as three or four euros, while a specialty brunch with fresh juice might run closer to twelve or fifteen euros per person.
Accessibility is another strong point. Most cafés in the town centre and along the seafront are step-free or have only a small threshold, making them easy to reach with pushchairs or mobility aids. Many also have outdoor terraces, which are ideal for people-watching during the cooler morning and late-afternoon hours.
Whether you are looking for a quiet corner to work, a family-friendly spot with pastries, or a serious espresso bar run by passionate owners, Torremolinos has a café to match. The following selection highlights the best places to sit down, slow down, and enjoy a properly good cup of coffee in this sunny corner of the Costa del Sol.

I ordered this amazing looking carrot cake, but I was extremely disappointed with the cake was very dry. I asked her whether it was fresh. The colleague translated in Spanish to her that it was about two days but she told me it was made this evening and I don’t believe it because I make Cakes all the time as a profession and this is not a fresh cake

Andrea Manzotti★★★★☆
Cute small place on a nice and calm street. The staff was really friendly and sweet. Nice for a relaxing breakfast or brunch.
The food is overall very tasty. The toast with avocado, feta, olive oil and fresh tomatoes is amazing and great value for money (it's literally huge)! The croissant is great as well, both in taste and texture. However the marmellate (jam actually) that came with it, was the single portion one in the small plastic package (see picture) so not the best in general, considering also the price of the croissant. If you want the croissant, get the one with Nutella instead 😉
The coffee wasn't great unfortunately. I asked for a cappuccino and what I got was actually a long filter coffee with a bit of milk in it and a little foam on the top, but nothing to do with a cappuccino although that's what they called it.
Overall, I recommend the restaurant 🙂

Took ages to come and take our lunch order. When they finally did, he wasn’t pleasant. So took out our drinks and then only our fries come out and no sandwich’s. So about 19 min later I go ask what about the sandwich’s ??? So he obviously forget to order sandwich’s and the arrive about 3 min later. It was an open toasted chicken salad sandwich. So I eat one slice and thought it tasted funny. On closer inspection of my wife’s she noticed her chicken was only browned and raw in the middle. So had a look at mine and mine was the same. Nearly got sick there and then. Very little apology and no way of discount. Charged us for fries and drinks. Do not go here

My colleagues and I were looking for a coffee shop in Spain and decided to visit this one first. From the outside, it looks quite inconspicuous. You have to ring the bell at the white metal door to be let in, which felt a little unusual at first.
Since this was my first experience visiting a coffee shop, I was a bit unsure about what to expect. However, as soon as I entered, I was warmly welcomed by a friendly staff member who asked what I was looking for and explained everything in detail. The customer service was excellent.
The quality of the products and the variety available were both very impressive. It was also very easy for tourists to register and become members. The registration fee is €20.
Overall, I had a great experience at Coffee C Green. Everything was professional, welcoming, and straightforward. I would definitely come back again.🤙🏻

Bulevar Café is a lovely spot in Torremolinos, located on a traffic free street beautifully lined with palm trees. They serve refreshing cold drinks, some cakes and desserts, but the highlight is definitely their excellent coffee.
In summer, the terrace is perfect any time of day , in the morning there’s sun, but large umbrellas make it comfortable, and in the afternoon the buildings cast shade so it becomes pleasantly cool.
Since the terrace is slightly elevated from the street, it also catches a nice breeze, making it especially enjoyable on warm days.
They also host karaoke on Fridays and sometimes other events, which adds to the fun atmosphere.
A great place to relax and spend time!

I would not recommend it.
Espresso was okay but the cake was stale , flavourless, excessively sweet and overpriced for its size.
The place has some retro deco but outdated.
Service was very slow and the waiter was a bit apathetic.

HOME AWAY FROM HOME
I was in Torremolinos on vacation the first week of May and was fortunate to walk in front of Para El Café on my first morning. I had breakfast there and was immediately hooked, went back every morning the rest of my time there. Keith (the owner) and Julio made me feel welcome and at home.
The food is delicious and the coffee the best in town with a variety of options, and they have yummy cookies. I sat every morning inside just so I could chat with them but they have tables outside in a very nice area on the beautiful plaza as well.
And the prices unbeatable!
Highly recommended!

We have been looking forward to coming back too this lovely little place after visits on the previous holidays. As always it was fantastic. Lovely little spot just off the promenade, beautiful views, tasty food and excellent service. We were sad we didn't get to chat with the owners as we had on previous visits, which just means we will have to come again (and again and again).
...
Well we did indeed come again and again, for every single day of our holiday. The owners, Hanneke and Johan remembered us fromm our previous visits which was very heartwarming. The other staff were amazing, a special mention has to go to Maxi, Scarlet and Freddie who always made us feel welcome.
Or favourite dishes has to be the Protein Bowl, the Turkish Eggs (with extra Feta for me) and the Avocado on Toast.
You all do an amazing job and I cannot recommend this place enough.

A lovely setting with a varied menu. So good to see alternatives to pitufo or full English. We had avocado and smoked salmon on toasted sourdough and, the star of the show: poached eggs with homemade hummus and this delicious chilli oil. The Matcha drink was another great addition.
Service was friendly, the view beautiful and dog friendly too.
Worth every euro to have something a little different.

We found this café during our holiday and ended up going there every morning. It’s right by the sea, the food was always fresh and delicious, and the service was incredibly friendly. I ate something different every day and everything was great. Especially the overnight oats with granola and peanut butter were so tasty. A wonderful place for breakfast that we can highly recommend! 😍

Created my own bowl with quinoa, micro greens, avocado, edamame, pickled onion, cucumber thin curls, radish, spicy chickpeas and added tofu. Their sauces are also good that go along with it. Highly recommended. Also had the ginger and mint tea. Husband had the yogurt bowl and berry smoothie and really enjoyed it.

A wonderful breakfast, the mushrooms on toast with avocado was incredible so much depth of flavour with a lovely ice tea. All enjoyed on a patio with enough shade set back from the beach next to what seemed to be a pretty quite road.

We had smoothies, which were delicious 😋. They were so nice we will go back again and again until we have tried them all.
We also had albondigas, which were the best we have ever had.
Then we had the ice creams. They were exceptional!
Everywhere was so clean that when my little boy went to the toilet in the restaurant he came back and said "Oh Daddy! What luxury!"
All the people working there were super-friendly, especially the Colombian man who owns the ice cream section. He was very happy to let my boys try several flavours and he talked with us a lot and made us feel very welcome.
Everything is done well here and the little details show that it is operated by people who love what the do and what they offer.
Go there! Bring your kids for an ice-cream and have a break from the sun with an ice cold beer. You WILL love it!

This place was a rare find. We just stumbled into Ely for a quick drink and Josie was very friendly and greeted us with a smile. Surprisingly, they had a number of Colombian items on their menu, so we had to try something. Don’t miss: The empañadas! Colombian style made with corn flour, shredded meat, and deep fried (just eat it). Served with an amazing salsa similar to pico de gallo with vinegar. This was one of our favorite plates so far in Spain!
Tips for Enjoying Cafés in Torremolinos
A little local knowledge goes a long way when planning your café stops in Torremolinos. From timing your visit to understanding how coffee is ordered, these practical suggestions will help you make the most of the town’s café culture without feeling like a lost tourist.
1. Learn the local coffee language
Spanish coffee orders are not complicated, but they are specific. A café con leche is roughly half coffee and half hot milk, a cortado is a small espresso with a dash of milk, and a sombra is a lighter coffee with more milk. If you prefer cold coffee, ask for a café con hielo, which usually comes with a glass of ice so you can pour it yourself.
2. Go early for the best pastries
Bakeries and cafés in Torremolinos bake in small batches, especially in the La Carihuela area. The best croissants, palmeras, and local sweet treats often sell out by mid-morning. Arriving before 10:00 gives you the widest choice and a calmer atmosphere before the brunch rush begins.
3. Carry a little cash for smaller spots
While most cafés accept cards, some traditional family-run places still prefer cash for small orders like a coffee and a pastry. Keeping a few euro coins in your pocket makes ordering easier and faster, particularly at market-side cafés or older establishments in the town centre.
4. Look beyond the seafront for better value
The cafés directly on the Paseo Marítimo are wonderful for views, but prices tend to be higher. Walk one or two streets inland and you will often find the same quality of coffee and food for noticeably less money. Neighbourhoods such as El Calvario are especially good for this.
5. Respect the Spanish coffee schedule
Coffee culture in Torremolinos follows a gentle rhythm. Mornings are busy with breakfast orders, afternoons slow down between roughly 15:00 and 17:00, and early evenings bring another round of social coffee drinking. If you need a quiet table for remote work, late morning or mid-afternoon is usually the sweet spot.
6. Ask about the house speciality
Many independent cafés have a signature drink or dish that does not appear on the main menu, from turmeric lattes to locally inspired pastries. Asking the barista what they recommend often leads to a more memorable experience than ordering the same flat white you could get anywhere else in Europe.
The beauty of café-hopping in Torremolinos is that no two visits have to feel the same. One morning you might be sipping a traditional café con leche at a marble-topped bar, and the next you could be working through a pour-over at a minimalist specialty coffee shop. That variety, set against a backdrop of warm sunshine and sea air, is exactly what makes the town so rewarding for coffee lovers.
Take your time, walk between neighbourhoods, and let your coffee stops shape the rhythm of your day. In Torremolinos, the best café experiences are rarely rushed. They are savoured slowly, one cup at a time.
