12 Best Luxury Hotels in Marbella

Marbella has long been synonymous with glamour on Spain’s Costa del Sol, drawing a discerning crowd that expects more than just a room with a view. It is a destination where Andalusian charm meets contemporary opulence, set against the backdrop of the Sierra Blanca mountains and the sparkling Mediterranean. For the traveler seeking the pinnacle of comfort, the city’s luxury hotel scene is not just an amenity but a central part of the experience.

The definition of luxury here is wonderfully diverse, ranging from sprawling beachfront resorts to intimate, design-forward boutique hideaways in the Old Town. Whether you crave the vibrant energy of Puerto Banús or the serene exclusivity of the Golden Mile, there is a property tailored to your specific desires. The finest establishments distinguish themselves through impeccable service, Michelin-starred dining, and wellness facilities that rival the world’s best spas.

Choosing the right base is crucial, as Marbella’s micro-neighborhoods offer vastly different atmospheres. A stay near the marina provides front-row seats to the superyacht spectacle, while a suite in the hills offers panoramic views and profound tranquility. Furthermore, the architecture and interior design vary significantly, from classic Andalusian whitewashed villas to sleek, modern glass structures.

This guide focuses on properties that consistently exceed expectations, offering not just a place to sleep, but a holistic sensory experience. We have considered factors such as location, unique character, gastronomic excellence, and the quality of personalized service. Each hotel selected here represents the gold standard of hospitality on the Costa del Sol.

For the discerning traveler, a luxury hotel in Marbella is often a sanctuary away from the bustling beaches, yet close enough to enjoy the vibrant social scene. These properties often feature lush, tropical gardens that provide a sense of privacy and seclusion rarely found in other European beach destinations. The attention to detail in these spaces, from handcrafted furniture to curated art collections, sets them apart.

The culinary landscape within these hotels is equally impressive, with many housing restaurants helmed by internationally acclaimed chefs. From traditional Spanish tapas elevated to high art, to innovative Nikkei cuisine, the dining options are a major draw for guests and locals alike. Pairing these meals with extensive wine cellars and bespoke cocktail bars completes the luxury experience.

As we explore the finest accommodations Marbella has to offer, consider what atmosphere best suits your travel style. Whether you are planning a romantic getaway, a family vacation, or a solo retreat focused on wellness, the perfect hotel is waiting for you. Here are the properties that define luxury in this sun-drenched corner of Spain.

We had a one night stay at Marbella Club this past Sunday and it was absolutely flawless, from the arrival to the departure, everyone and everything was perfect! Our room 304 on the edge of the pool and beach, with seaviews, felt so private and exclusive, super well maintained and in great condition. We were spoiled with welcome notes and amenities which made us feel special and the best of all, is every interaction we had was brilliant. Some names to highlight are the reception team with Javier, Pierre our buggy driver, Valeria in sales, our server in the Patio was brilliant and smiley, from Ghana, sorry did not remember his name, but he had the warmest smile ever! The food we had both times in El Patio was delicious, the lunch at MC Club on the beach was memorable and overall the insider tour we got from Valeria of the Finca Ana Maria was the biggest surprise which truly completes the experience at Marbella Club. We love the small casitas and the luxurious villas too of course. Thank you to all the team from Julian Cabanillas to the doormen.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at MCH and cannot rate it highly enough. It is a five star hotel in every aspect, from the attentive service, luxurious decor, delicious food, lush green gardens and the best pools in Marbella. It exceeded my expectations and lives up to the hype. I look forward to my return. For anyone considering a visit, go ahead and make a reservation, do it and thank me later.

It was a wonderful stay at the Marbella club hotel. The service was exceptionally welcoming, and we loved the beautiful interior design and atmosphere. We especially appreciated the large number of swimming pools, with separate areas for both adults and children. Every guest can find something comfortable and enjoyable here. The restaurants on the property were excellent, both for lunch and dinner, and the breakfasts were outstanding. We will definitely return to this hotel on our next visit.

I’ve been coming to Marbella Club for years, and I’ve always loved the unique atmosphere that made it feel like a true home away from home. Unfortunately, during this stay, that feeling was missing. While the hotel remains beautiful, I found the staff to be overly intrusive. We were repeatedly interrupted for minor issues and unnecessary check-ins, which made it difficult to relax and enjoy our privacy. Instead of feeling looked after, we felt constantly disturbed. What made Marbella Club so special in the past was its effortless, discreet service—you felt genuinely at home. Sadly, that magic seems to have faded. It’s still a wonderful property, but it no longer feels like the Marbella Club I remember. I sincerely hope the management brings back the understated hospitality and sense of comfort that made this hotel truly exceptional.

This is by no means a 5 star hotel to stay in, the prices are not reflective of the quality of stay. Poor bedding, pillows are of some whimsical size. We were asked to fill a pillow menu but not given our choice. Even when asking twice we were given the same hard lumpy pillows. Bed was more 3 star , noisy hard and lumpy. Interrupted by service staff at odd times despite giving them a time. Room interiors poor Pools look like they are from the 1990’s. The F&B is incredible, they will cater to allergies to the T. Will only come back for that. Do not come here for luxury

We stayed at Puente Romano for our Christmas holiday, and it was one of the best hotel experiences we’ve ever had. From the moment we arrived, everything felt effortless. We were even surprised with a room upgrade, and the room was spacious, beautiful, and incredibly comfortable. The level of customer service was exceptional—attentive, warm, and truly some of the best we’ve experienced in Europe. The breakfast buffet was outstanding, with an incredible variety and something to look forward to every morning. The resort itself feels like a small luxury village, with beautiful pools, a relaxing spa, direct beach access, and so many fantastic restaurants just steps away. We especially loved our evening at COYA, which had amazing food and a vibrant atmosphere, and it was also wonderful to have restaurants like Nobu within the resort. Puente Romano is one of those rare places where you have everything you need in one beautiful location. It made our holiday feel truly special, and we can’t wait to return. Highly recommended!

Let me start this with saying this is my first time leaving a bad review, as usually, I am very understandable. Very disappointing experience. At $1700 per night per room, the quality felt more like a $100-a-night hotel. The room was in poor condition, the bathrooms had mold, water in the shower would not drain and the overall property felt old and extremely poorly maintained. The swimming pool was dirty, and the beach setup was another huge disappointment, not something I would expect at a five star resort. After seeing the condition of the hotel, we decided to cut our vacation short and leave early. This hotel is nowhere near worth the price.

An exceptional five-star experience from start to finish. The service was outstanding, with an incredibly attentive and friendly staff who made us feel truly welcome throughout our stay. The hotel’s outdoor spaces are beautifully designed, spacious, and perfect for relaxing. The range of services is top-tier, with everything you could possibly need at your fingertips. There are countless high-quality amenities, all thoughtfully provided and maintained to the highest standards. The bed was extremely comfortable, ensuring a perfect night’s sleep. A luxurious hotel that exceeds expectations in every detail — highly recommended.

This is a review solely about the breakfast. We have been to breakfasts in 5-star hotels all over the world. Price ranging always from €15 to €45 euros. So for the €65 euros you pay here, you are expecting it to be above average. Unfortunately, it was way below average. Good things first: they serve Veuve Cliquot instead of cheap cava, they cut the jamon fresh, the coffee is ok, the gluten-free section offered some GOOD food, there’s a chocolate fountain and the little croissants you can fill yourself were pretty good. The gardens are beautiful as well. However, the service, setting and other foods werent up to standards at all. We waited over 20 minutes for someone to ask if we want coffee, nobody came to clear our plates or provide us with new cutlery. We had to wave everytime to get someone’s attention. I HATE waving. I work in hospitality myself and know that it is LAST resort, because I think it’s rude!! The pastries were so dry I had to flush it down with water. The churros were undercooked, and the hot food under the lamps overcooked and low on flavour. The bacon was soft. The açai turned brown. Sausages were dry. Chia pudding tasted (and looked) artificial. Bread was dry as well. The tables and chairs are worn off and are so close together you couldnt just easily walk around without bumping into something or someone. Our first table was wobbly and placed so close to a door I couldnt pull the chair back. Saw this happening at multiple tables. The plastic placemats on the table had holes in it and gave me cheap vibes. When I shared it with staff she said “I’m sorry lady”. The whole experience was a facade of luxury and completely underwhelming for the price. A pity.

Our stay at Puente Romano Marbella was nothing short of magical—truly a breathtaking, fairytale-like destination. The property feels like a city within a city, offering an incredible variety of restaurants, shops, and experiences all within its beautiful grounds. Every corner invites you to explore, relax, and enjoy something new. Although it rained quite heavily during the two days of our stay, and we didn’t get the chance to visit Marbella itself, we honestly couldn’t find a reason to complain. The hotel offers so much that we were completely content to stay on the property and make the most of everything it has to offer. The accommodations are outstanding, and the staff truly elevate the experience. Every team member we encountered was professional, attentive, welcoming, and genuinely committed to making our stay special. We are so grateful for the experience and would highly recommend this incredible destination. We hope to return—hopefully with sunshine next time! Sincerely, Carlos and Maria

The location is absolutely perfect. The hotel is located on a property surrounded by great restaurants, shops and fantastic nightlife. Being able to take a few steps to everything, cannot be beaten. The fitness center & spa are top notch as well. However, what stood out most was the consistently great service across the entire property. That’s the reason I’ll always look at this property first when visiting.

We had a really lovely experience at Nobu Marbella. The atmosphere throughout the day was fantastic, and the live music was a brilliant touch—it really elevated the whole experience. Although they couldn’t seat us at a table, the team kindly accommodated us at the bar, which actually turned out to be a real treat. It was a very unusual and memorable dining experience for my daughter, and she absolutely loved it—something we’ll both remember for a long time. To top it all off, the service was excellent. In particular, Nicholas was brilliant—friendly, attentive, and made us feel very welcome. Highly recommend. We had a really lovely experience at Nobu Marbella. Absolutely phenomenal meal. Waiter recommended me the ribs at nobu….. we gave him the benefit of the doubt. Needless to say, Gabriel was absolutely spot on… they were the best ribs I’ve ever had. Talk about a 5 star 🚀

A brilliant 2 night stay on the 21st and 22nd of April celebrating a special anniversary with my wife. The resort is a one of a kind experience, with great rooms surrounding a network of tree / plant lined walkways and streams leading to the beach, with an amazing collection of the finest bars & restaurants to suit all tastes. The room we had (A24) was huge with a great balcony and 1st class amenities as expected from the Nobu brand. The resort has 3 pools, with 1 reserved just for Nobu hotel guests, and a Six Senses spa. Every guest experience team member we encountered was super friendly and professional, really taking care of us and making us feel so welcomed and spoilt. Special thanks to the GM, Santiago Rodriguez for ensuring our stay was so memorable, it was very much appreciated! We had amazing weather with sunny days around 25º with cooler mornings and evenings. Mornings started with a run along the beach front (a 40 min walk in either direction will you get you to Marbella old town, or Puerto Banus), then a short workout in one of the best and most stylish gyms we have ever used. Then follows the start of the foodie journey, with an amazing breakfast at El Pimpi, which has an excellent breakfast spread of all we could want. Afternoons were spent at the pool, with snacks and drinks, getting us ready for the difficult choice of which top class dining experience to have that evening. I just wish we had more than a week that would be needed to visit every single one! Totally recommend a stay here for a completely relaxing, food heaven and pampered experience! Seen some reviews saying the noise from the bars and clubs is too loud, but that is not the experience we had. If anything, any noise from the outlets just improved the ambiance as the resort has a unique buzz and vibe! We definitely plan to visit again

Wonderful stay – stylish, elegant and unforgettable. I stayed at Nobu Hotel Marbella for a weekend one week before Christmas and absolutely loved the experience. Everything was perfect — the atmosphere, the design, the service, and the overall charm of the hotel. Unfortunately, the weather was rainy during our stay, but even so, the experience was outstanding. The restaurants within the resort are excellent, offering great quality and variety, and the breakfast was simply amazing — one of the best hotel breakfasts I’ve had. The hotel is extremely stylish, cozy, and refined, with a very pleasant and relaxed vibe. Even with the rain, it felt like a special and memorable getaway. I truly loved my stay and would highly recommend Nobu Hotel Marbella. I would definitely return.

We absolutely loved our stay and honestly couldn't find anything to complain about. The hotel has a perfect beachfront location right on the promenade, with plenty of shops, cafés, and restaurants just a short walk away. The Old Town is less than a 10-minute walk from the hotel, making it perfect for evening strolls through its charming streets. One of the biggest advantages was that sunbeds were complimentary for hotel guests, both by the pool and on the beach, which is quite rare in Spain. The pool area was lovely, with comfortable loungers and tasteful entertainment such as live singers and dancers. Breakfast was outstanding and served with breathtaking sea views from two beautiful terraces. We especially loved the wide selection of fresh fruit, vegetables, pastries, and of course the freshly squeezed orange juice accompanied by sparkling wine. We also had an excellent à la carte dinner at the hotel's beachfront restaurant, which was a real highlight of our stay. Housekeeping was impeccable every single day, and the entire hotel was spotless and smelled wonderful. Every member of the staff was friendly, welcoming, and always happy to help. Finally, we really appreciated that this is an adults-only hotel. The peaceful atmosphere without the noise of children made our holiday even more relaxing, and it's one of the main reasons why we would happily return.

Amàre Beach Hotel enjoys an excellent location within walking distance of Marbella Old Town, making it a great base for exploring the area. The rooms are spacious, and the beach and pool areas are attractive, although they can feel quite crowded during peak times. The breakfast offers a good variety and quality, but the overall service could be improved. Guests are assigned seating with little flexibility, and the staff appeared to be stretched thin. We also found the overall experience to be more expensive than the value it delivers. Our biggest disappointment was the air conditioning. We paid to upgrade from a partial sea view to a full sea view room, only to discover that the air conditioning was not working properly. Since there was no maintenance staff available that evening, we had to move back to our original room. Unfortunately, the air conditioning there was also not particularly effective. Maintenance checked it the next day but advised that it was operating normally and nothing further could be done. In the middle of the Spanish summer, effective air conditioning is not a luxury—it’s an expectation, especially at this price point. The hotel did try to make up for the inconvenience with complimentary rooftop drinks and a bottle of champagne, which was appreciated. However, as we don’t drink alcohol, those gestures didn’t address the actual issue. We also found it surprising that there was no evening maintenance coverage and that luggage assistance was not offered. Overall, we enjoyed our stay thanks to the location and the hotel’s amenities, but we believe the customer service and operational support could be improved. With better attention to guest comfort and service, this hotel would provide a much stronger value for the price.

I spent a week in July at the Amare hotel and no regret. It was a great experience overall. - Great location, very central - Rooms are well decorated, modern and the balcony with an ocean view, it’s just breathtaking - A decent swimming pool size with a jacuzzi and within seconds you are on beach, so cool ! - Friendly staff - Great breakfast buffet: a special shoutout for the great baker who makes a delicious chocolate cake! - FYI, there is also a possibility of late check-out with a small fee, dont hesitate to ask the front desk. So, no hesitation, I do recommend this hotel. See you next year!

We stayed at this hotel with our family for 12 days in July and had a wonderful experience. The service was outstanding from check-in to check-out. The staff at reception, the restaurants, and throughout the hotel were always friendly, professional, and ready to help. Any request was handled quickly, and when we had an issue with our room, it was changed immediately without any hassle. The rooms were clean, the beds were extremely comfortable, and our room on the 8th floor with a side sea view had a beautiful view—perfect for relaxing on the balcony in the evenings. Breakfast was excellent, with a huge variety of fresh and delicious food. The beach area with comfortable sunbeds was another highlight, and the hotel also offers convenient parking. The only thing future guests should know is that the bathroom and toilet have glass walls and doors, which may be less convenient when traveling with family. The location is also excellent—only a 5–10 minute walk to the Old Town, restaurants, and major attractions. We truly enjoyed our stay and would be happy to return. Thank you to the entire team for a fantastic holiday!

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Marriott’s Marbella Beach Resort in Elviria, just about 20 minutes from the heart of Marbella. This resort truly delivers a luxury experience from start to finish. The guest service is exceptional—warm, attentive, and always ready to help, which made us feel welcome throughout our entire stay. The amenities are outstanding. We especially loved the two heated indoor pools, perfect for relaxing regardless of the weather, as well as the multiple outdoor pools surrounded by beautiful landscaping. The two large jacuzzis were a highlight, and the spa area—with its sauna and Turkish bath—added an extra level of relaxation. Another detail we really appreciated was the well-stocked minimarket on site, which made everything so convenient. We stayed in a spacious and comfortable two-bedroom villa with two bathrooms and a fully equipped kitchen. It was perfect for our group—plenty of room, very clean, and thoughtfully designed for both comfort and functionality. Overall, this resort exceeded our expectations. Whether you're looking for relaxation, comfort, or a high-quality vacation experience, this is a fantastic choice on the Costa del Sol. We would absolutely come back!
Sherif Nada★☆☆☆☆
I left this resort feeling genuinely disappointed. While the property itself is beautiful and well maintained, the overall guest experience fell far below what I expect, especially as a Marriott Platinum member. The biggest issue was the service. With the exception of one staff member, the restaurant employees rarely smiled, appeared disengaged, and did not deliver the level of hospitality you would expect from a Marriott resort. Rather than feeling welcomed, we often felt like an inconvenience. Another surprising policy was being required to pay for restaurant orders in advance, even after providing our room number. This is not the experience I have come to expect at Marriott properties and made us feel as though there was little trust in guests. The most frustrating part of our stay happened on checkout day. Breakfast finishes at 11:00 a.m., and when we returned to our room at around 11:30 a.m to pick up my luggage., our key cards had already been deactivated. My family was locked out of the room with all of our belongings inside. I had already requested a late checkout, yet instead of resolving the issue quickly, I had to return to reception and wait while the staff took a long time to restore our access. What made the situation even more disappointing was the attitude of the reception manager. Rather than showing empathy or taking ownership, I was left with the impression that restoring access to our own room was somehow being done as a favor. There was no apology, no sense of urgency, and no recognition that we were standing outside our room with our family locked out. Loyalty should mean something. As a Marriott Platinum member, I expect to be treated as a valued guest, not as someone asking for special favors. At no point during this stay did we feel appreciated or made to feel at home. The facilities are excellent, but a beautiful resort alone is not enough. Hospitality is about people, and unfortunately that was the weakest part of this experience. We left frustrated and disappointed, and this has been one of the least welcoming Marriott stays we have experienced.

Been coming here for now, more than 10 years! The consistency, the location, the service and the views - all unmatched! Highly recommend! One of the best (especially for the money) hotel in Costa del Sol (del Golf). The proximity to Niki Beach also helps a lot! 🙂
Sarah Crawford★★★☆☆
When you first walk into the resort, it’s a bit underwhelming because you really don’t get a great view of the grounds however the staff was quite welcoming. We arrived after the welcome desk closed so they must have a welcome bag but we never received it which I thought was strange— I had to come back to the door to fetch it as opposed to it being delivered to our room! They require a deposit for on-site spending which was also strange/different, normally you just charge things to the room and settle up at the end. It was very confusing because as some point we exceeded our allowance and it’s like being told “your card got denied.” At that point, I had to always have money/credit card on me which I wasn’t anticipating at a resort. I was also surprised that they didn’t have room service— everything is take away from one of the two restaurants and they didn’t have staff offering service poolside. That might be more typical of Europeans resorts but certainly not of American resorts so that was surprising. They also served wine poolside in a paper cup which really was unsatisfying. I understand the need to avoid glass but I’ve either been served glass or plastic wineglasses near pools— never paper and certainly not at a 5 star hotel. A highlight however was the views and amenities! The indoor pool was a huge hit— especially because it was quite windy and cool while we were there! They have both and adults only indoor and outdoor pool as we as family indoor/outdoor pool. We even did a water aerobics class in the indoor pool which was absolutely a blast! The sauna was really nice too! They have everything a kid could want— playground for little, soccer/basketball, waterslides, direct beach access! I thought the restaurants were fine— I certainly wouldnt encourage going out of your way to go to them but good for being on site. Lastly, the location was a bit tough. There wasn’t much walkable so getting into downtown Marbella was a 15 min drive. Overall, nice stay. Simple, great room accommodations and really exceptional pool/pool amenities. Okay food. Fair location (in terms of location to city), excellent in terms of views and beachside stay! A

This was our first time staying at Hotel El Fuerte, a sister hotel to the Amàre, just a short walk away. We chose to change location to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary and we truly believe we made the perfect decision. We stayed for five nights with breakfast included and the experience exceeded our expectations in every way. Breakfast was outstanding the quality, variety and presentation of the food easily deserve a 10 out of 10. The indoor and outdoor seating areas are beautiful, relaxed and immaculately maintained, making each morning a pleasure. What truly sets Hotel El Fuerte apart is the staff. From morning through to night, the personal attention we received was professional, genuine and incredibly warm. Every interaction felt sincere and welcoming and it made a real difference to our stay. The hotel grounds offer plenty of choice for relaxation, whether you prefer sun or shade, by the pool or near the beach. The atmosphere throughout is calm, elegant and thoughtfully designed. We also appreciated the personal touches in the evening, such as chocolates or sweets left in the room, small details that made the experience feel extra special. We would like to sincerely thank all of the staff for helping to make our 25th wedding anniversary such a memorable and meaningful holiday. We will most certainly return in the future and would consider the half‑board option next time. Paul & Angela Holohan Room 404 Dublin Ireland

I’ve been fortunate to travel extensively and stay in many beautiful hotels, and I can confidently say this is one of the best I’ve ever experienced. From the moment you arrive, the service is exceptional. The team is genuinely warm, attentive, and welcoming, which sets the tone for the entire stay. The location is unbeatable, with everything conveniently within walking distance. The pool and beach areas are stunning and incredibly relaxing, especially the sunbeds by the water. It’s the perfect place to unwind and switch off. Breakfast is excellent, with a wide variety of options and beautiful views, and the decor throughout the hotel is elegant and thoughtfully designed. Lounge access was a great addition, and having snacks and drinks available during the day made the experience even more enjoyable. The room was quiet, comfortable, and well designed, with a beautiful bathroom. One of the highlights was falling asleep to the sound of the waves. At one point, one of us even chose to sleep on the balcony just to fully enjoy it. This is a place where you can truly disconnect and relax. I’m already looking forward to coming back. Thank you for such an incredible stay. Highly recommended. Don’t hesitate to book.

We had a wonderful time at El Fuerte. It was our first holiday in a while and I even used the occasion to propose! The hotel was situated at an ideal location - easy to access, well maintained and plenty of amenities nearby. We were in Marbella for a long weekend and had a jam-packed agenda, but enjoyed our time at the hotel and had some particular highlights / call-outs: 1. Andrea from Guest Services + the entire staff team - Andrea in particular was FANTASTIC - no question was too much and she always had a wonderful smile each day. She even very kindly had a bottle of cava sent to our room to celebrate our proposal. Which we enjoyed on the balcony overlooking the sea! Rosa + Valentina - kitchen superstars - were full of joy each morning + kept us topped up with champagne! They also very kindly had a DELICIOUS chocolate mousse brought to us to celebrate our engagement. We were so grateful for their kindness and wonderful hospitality. Thank you, El Fuerte, for a memorable trip and a wonderful experience. We will come back again!

Absolutely wonderful property. We enjoyed a relaxing week in a seafront room. The “selected” option worked very well for us and offers a quiet area for breakfast with excellent service. Other perks with this option include a lounge (little sandwiches and desserts, snacks, and even drinks and fresh juices), and entry to the very relaxing therapy pool with jets and cascading spouts. Our room had a unique design, with a shower and toilet cubicle to one side of the entry, and double sinks and a soaking tub on the other side. Beyond was a small bedroom and beautiful balcony. There are many room categories available, including suites with lounge areas, or those with a jetted tub on the balcony. Keep in mind the resort has a rather small footprint, and is family friendly, so there could be some noise from the pool below in seafront room category. The tradeoff is delightful views. We loved the location of the hotel, with direct access to a promenade lined with restaurants. It’s also a few minutes walk to the charming old town. We would not hesitate to recommend this world class hotel. Heartfelt thanks to the outstanding staff, particularly our breakfast hosts and servers. We hope to see your smiling faces again!

Breakfast was delicious with a wide variety of options, and the service throughout the hotel was consistently excellent. The team made us feel very welcome and were always ready to help with anything we needed. I would happily return and recommend it to anyone visiting Marbella.

This was our first family vacation in Marbella, and we were all the more delighted to stay at the beautiful, new, and modern Melia Hotel in Puerto Banús. We especially appreciate the excellent service and the absolutely professional and friendly attitude of the staff. We’d like to give a special shout-out to our favorites: Andrea, Laura, Victoria, Anna, Diego, Domingo, Jose, and Nacho. You deserve a special thank you, because thanks to you, we had a wonderful 11 days. The rooms are modern and tastefully decorated and perfectly cleaned every day. The restaurants are of a very high standard. Thank you for everything, and we will definitely be happy to return.

From the minute I arrived the service was excellent. The staff were extremely helpful, polite and always had a smile. I was part of a large party for a conference so spent 5 days at the hotel. The rooms are large clean and comfortable, the food was excellent. There is a lovely pool and comfy Bali beds. Would definitely love to return

The hotel itself is beautiful, modern, and in a great location, but what really stood out was the service. I travelled to Marbella partly for work on a magazine shoot for Mr Haze, whilst also celebrating with a friend, and the staff made the whole stay seamless from start to finish. Lola on reception was exceptional, she kindly upgraded my room, which was a really appreciated touch and made the stay even better. She then also arranged for my friend to be checked into my original room, which was incredibly thoughtful and helpful. Small gestures like that make a huge difference when travelling. Professional, welcoming, and genuinely attentive service throughout. A real credit to the hotel. Highly recommend.

Big shout out for Isabel in ‘guest experience’ at the Don Pepe, Marbella- what a professional! She is a class act and a great ambassador for the hotel and the hotel group. From day one she tried her very best to ensure we were comfortable and had a good holiday. A real asset to the team. Abel, too was most helpful and deserves a mention. Many thanks

Dear Sir or Madam, We would like to kindly share with you our review of our recent stay at Hotel Don Pepe Gran Meliá. Please find our detailed feedback below. Positives: • Excellent location, very close to the sea. • Beautiful and well-maintained garden and pool area. • Very good breakfast with fresh fruit and made-to-order items like omelets or boiled eggs. • The ERRE restaurant offers great steaks and a nice atmosphere. • Friendly, helpful staff and convenient on-site parking. Negatives: • The hotel clearly shows its age and no longer meets modern five-star standards. Carpets in the hallways are heavily worn. • Our room faced the inner courtyard, and every morning around 6:30 a.m. we were woken by truck noise and the sound of breaking glass, likely from bottle collection near the main entrance – clearly audible even from the 5th floor. • The windows, probably original from the 1960s, offered almost no sound insulation and couldn’t be closed properly. • The sofa bed for two children was only about 1 meter wide, with a completely worn-out mattress where you could feel the metal frame. • Blankets had no proper duvet covers – just sheets wrapped around them, constantly slipping off. Overall impression: While the hotel shines with its beautiful location, pleasant outdoor spaces, and friendly service, the rooms and windows are outdated, and noise insulation is poor. A renovation would be needed to bring it back to true five-star quality.

From the moment we arrived back at Don Pepe we felt 'back at home.' Lovely warm welcome and speedy check in to a Red Level Room. Beautiful sea view room - which was serviced daily by the charming room team. All the staff are amazing and go out of their way to make sure you are enjoying your stay. The beautiful grounds help you to relax between meals. Hopefully the 'Breakfast Room' will return once the hotel has been refurbished. Can't wait to return in 2027

Set in it's own green oasis, this hotel exudes calm and relaxation - for the guests that is - the staff are very attentive, friendly and keep things ticking along seamlessly. The breakfasts were excellent (we didn't experience the dining restaurants) and the bar with the live music was a fun place for a nightcap. We loved looking out from our room, through the trees to the sea beyond. It's an easy stroll to the old town and all it's pretty, quirky streets. We hope to return to this lovely hotel sometime soon.

Having read so many positive reviews before booking our stay at Iberostar Selection Marbella Coral Beach, my expectations were incredibly high. I am thrilled to say that the hotel not only met them but managed to exceed them in every possible way! From the moment we arrived, we were blown away by the wonderfully kind and attentive staff. The cleanliness throughout the entire property is flawless and deserves a special mention. Another highlight for us was the food, as the quality and variety at both breakfast and dinner were absolutely outstanding. As a delightful bonus, we loved the resident turtles in the enclosure between the rooms, which was such a unique and charming touch! If there is one area where the hotel could improve, it is enforcing restaurant etiquette during dinner. The hotel has a dress code, yet we witnessed guests sitting down for dinner in wet swimwear and flip-flops. Additionally, some guests were loudly watching videos on their phones without headphones, disrupting the lovely ambiance, and the staff unfortunately did not intervene. I highly recommend that the team gently reminds guests to respect the rules and the comfort of others. However, despite this minor issue, it would be unfair to deduct any points because the overall quality, hospitality, and atmosphere are undeniable. This hotel hands down deserves a full 5-star rating and we will definitely be back!

My experience at this hotel was absolutely terrible, mainly because of Adriana and the reception manager. I was traveling with my child, and the reception staff refused to let us check in because my daughter’s age in their system was slightly different from the age on her passport. She is a child, and this has never been an issue at any hotel I’ve stayed at before. Instead of handling the situation professionally, Adriana and the reception manager were rude, dismissive, and completely unwilling to help. They embarrassed me in front of other guests and forced me to pay an extra €200 per night. When I said I would rather cancel my stay and asked for my money back so I could book another hotel, they refused. I was even told, “If you don’t like it, leave the hotel.” That is one of the most disrespectful things I’ve ever heard from hotel staff. As if that wasn’t enough, the room was full of mosquitoes, and the cleanliness was far below the standard expected from this hotel. This was one of the worst customer service experiences I’ve ever had. Adriana and the reception manager made what should have been a pleasant family trip incredibly stressful and humiliating. I would never stay here again and would strongly advise others to avoid this hotel.

I booked three rooms at this hotel for my family. Two weeks before our arrival, I contacted the hotel and specifically requested that our rooms be as close to each other as possible because I was traveling with my daughters and my elderly parents, and I needed to stay close to them for family reasons. Unfortunately, when we arrived, I was shocked to find that one of our rooms had been assigned on the opposite side of the property, while the other two rooms were together on the ground floor. To make matters worse, I was given an accessible room for guests with disabilities, even though I never requested one. I spoke to the staff immediately and explained the situation, asking them to move my room closer to the rest of my family. Every single day, I was told, “Please wait until tomorrow; we might have a room available.” Because of these promises, I didn’t even unpack my luggage, expecting the issue to be resolved. It never was. What disappointed me the most was the complete lack of concern and customer care. I repeatedly explained how upsetting and inconvenient this situation was, but no one seemed to care or make any real effort to help. I was simply ignored. This was one of the most frustrating hotel experiences I have had. A simple request made well in advance was completely disregarded, and the hotel’s handling of the situation showed a lack of professionalism and respect for its guests. I would not recommend this hotel based on the poor customer service we received.

We had an amazing girls trip at the hotel. The location is just perfect, close to both Puente Romano and Puerto Banus. The rooms were quite big and very comfortable, and the staff were so nice and helpful all the time. Have to say the breakfast was one of the best parts of our stay, with a lot of choice. The fresh avocados were my favourite! And you have also an option for a late breakfast which we loved! We had an amazing experience and would definitely come back! :)))

My favorite hotel in Marbella! My husband and I have stayed here 6+ times in the last 5 years and love it each time. Walking distance to puerto banus, spacious rooms, great food and drinks and amazing hotel entertainment (Flamenco, World Cup watch parties, water aerobics, etc). It was our first time bringing our new baby girl and it is such a family friendly hotel. Highly recommend!

This is only our first night at the hotel, but I felt I had to share our initial experience. We chose this hotel to celebrate our wedding anniversary, but unfortunately our stay has been disappointing so far. Upon arrival, there was no one available to help with our luggage, so we carried it ourselves from the car to reception. After a long check-in, the bellboy assisted us. The reception was constantly crowded with long waits, which is not the service we expected from a four-star hotel. We appreciated the upgrade from a twin room to a king room, but that was the only positive. Our room is a 2–3 minute walk from the elevator. The bed had only a duvet cover, while the duvet was left in the closet for us to put inside ourselves—something we’ve never experienced in a hotel before. The room also had no laundry bag or Do Not Disturb sign, and the bathroom was missing basic amenities such as cotton buds, a shower cap, and a nail file. We also found an inconsistency in the price of the 30-minute pool massage. The hotel’s website advertises it for €70, but we were quoted €95 at the pool for the same treatment—a 36% increase. If prices have changed, the website should be updated so guests are not misled. We sincerely hope the rest of our stay is better, but unfortunately our first impression has been disappointing.

What an amazing hotel! On arrival we were greeted by super friendly staff and were checked in by Tyler who was absolutely superb. He explained all of the amenities in the hotel and offered to book reservations for us for anything we wanted to do. The hotel itself is luxurious and classy, food and drinks all excellent. The pool is stunning and we thoroughly enjoyed the DJ’s playing around the pool in the afternoons. No sunbed wars, just very chilled and relaxed atmosphere. Rooms are beautiful with high quality bedding and toiletries, we had a fabulous view over both pools. Literally cannot fault any aspect of the hotel. The staff are all fun and friendly and cannot do enough for you, our room was cleaned every day by very smiley cleaners! We even had a bottle of bubbly waiting for us in our room as we were celebrating our anniversary. We were made to feel special for the whole visit and can’t recommend this amazing hotel enough. Special thanks to Tyler for the welcome he gave us and the top notch service. We will definitely be back. 11/10

Exceptional good hotel in Marbella. I stayed several days with my family in February and we were so glad to have choosen this Hotel. The newly renovated rooms are really spacious, nice and offers all amentities expected for a 5* Hotel. The outdoor pool is heated and can be used at all seasons. The gym is one of the best Hotel gmy‘s I have seen (top notch quality and you can even do excercises outside). But the best gem is the staff! From the valet guys, reception, spa ladies to the waiters there are so nice, kind and attentive. Special thanks to Isaias, very friendly and proactive. He remembered our coffee preference after the day 1 and serviced us the following days directly without order - outstanding good. The beach can be reached via a walk through the beautiful Hotel garden and the old town of Marbella in approx. 9km. All in all, absolutely recommenable and we will come back.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Don Carlos Marbella and couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The hotel is beautiful, the atmosphere is very relaxing, the service was excellent, and everything felt very well organized from start to finish. We especially enjoyed the pool and beach club areas, the spa, and the overall quality of the resort. A very special mention goes to Miruna from the reservations team, who was fantastic from our very first conversation. Her attention and support really added a personal touch to our stay. Highly recommended!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ What an incredible stay! From the moment we arrived until the moment we left, everything was absolutely perfect. The hotel is stunning, the gardens are beautiful, the views are amazing, and the pool area is so peaceful and relaxing. The service was exceptional. Every member of the staff made us feel genuinely welcome and always made sure everything was perfect. Our room was beautifully maintained every day, fresh towels were constantly replaced, and we loved all the little touches like the chocolates and thoughtful amenities. We also had dinner at Manero, which was absolutely delicious, and the spa was the perfect place to relax. Even when we checked out, the team surprised us with chilled bottles of water, refreshing towels and a lovely fragrance for the car. It’s these little details that make the difference and show how much they care about their guests. Thank you to the entire Don Carlos team for such a wonderful experience. We left with amazing memories and can’t wait to come back very soon!

This was truly one of the best hotels I have ever stayed at. I visited from July 1 to July 11, and every aspect of my stay exceeded my expectations. The hotel is beautifully maintained, exceptionally clean, and located in a fantastic area. The restaurants offered excellent food and outstanding service, making every meal a pleasure. Throughout my stay, every member of the staff was friendly, professional, and genuinely eager to help. I was also pleasantly surprised when the hotel upgraded my room to another room of the same category as a thoughtful gesture, which I greatly appreciated. Small touches like this reflect the hotel's commitment to guest satisfaction. Overall, this is a first-class hotel that excels in every way. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for exceptional service, comfort, and a memorable stay, and I look forward to returning in the future.

The hotel and most of the staff were amazing. We chose this hotel for a variety of reasons, mainly as it had beach facilities and a pool by the beach and this is where the hotel was let down. Supposedly they have franchised out all the beach areas and it is a mess and poorly staffed and it just doesn’t work. As an example, we get up early and like to head to the beach. Whether it be at the pool or the beach you can't use a bed or get any towels until 10:00. Some people might think that is acceptable, but I am up early and don’t want to be queuing first thing in the morning to get a bed ! We went to the pool side restaurant on the first day at around 13:00 and it was empty and we were told as a hotel guest, that unless we had a reservation, there were no tables available. We ended up getting food delivered to our beds which was fine, but we should have been allowed the choice. Whether we sat by the pool or the beach, the service was dreadful. It would take 3-5 attempts to get an order placed for simple things like a bottle of water. No one seemed to care and if complained, I was told they were not part of the hotel and speak to someone that cared. After the above I complained to a senior member of the staff which I never do and no response other than an apology at the time and when I left and paid my final bill I complained again and again no response. For an expensive FIVE star hotel, not very impressive and we won't be going there again!

We ended up staying at La Fonda unexpectedly for two nights and honestly couldn’t have been happier with the experience. The hotel itself is beautiful, with charming rooms, an excellent location in Marbella Old Town, and a surprisingly strong breakfast. What really made the stay special, however, was the team. Michele and Dario were both fantastic - warm, welcoming, professional, and always eager to help. Any request was handled quickly and with a smile. There was perhaps one member of staff who was a little less flexible than the rest, but that was a very minor exception in what was otherwise an outstanding stay. A beautiful boutique hotel with exceptional service. We would happily return and highly recommend it.

We stayed at the La Fonda Heritage Hotel in the old center. A fantastic find for our stay, centrally located in the old center and just a 15-minute walk to the marina and beach. Originally a 16th-century private residence, and a 1960s hotel for Aristocrats, then recently reopened in 2023 after extensive preservation and renovation from abandoned ruins. The renovation is well done, very modern conveniences in a historic setting. The staff was amazing and attentive.

My partner and I went for dinner at the Fonda Restaurant. Excellent food and ambiance terrible service. We waited over 20 mins for our order to be taken and what seemed like 30 mins for the waiting staff to remove the plates from our table. Servers attitudes were ignorant. We spent 200 Euro on dinner and we were charged 8 Euro for 3 pieces of bread for which we didn't order. What a disappointment for a fine dining establishment.

My husband and I were very much looking forward to staying here for our 10 year wedding anniversary this last week. Due to the cancellations of all flight flights from Australia to Spain through the Middle East. We were unable to do our holiday, which was very disappointing. Every supplier and hotel that we were traveling to refunded our money as this was completely out of our hands. La Fonda decided to not refund our money and offer us a credit we could use before the end of this year instead. Due to their cause that we did not give them 30 days notice that apparently there was a war in the Middle East. As I was not informed by the governments that they were planning on doing that war, I could not give the 30 days notice. As we come from Australia, and not a neighbouring country, it is unrealistic to expect us just to pop over to be able to redeem this credit. Hence we have lost quite a lot of money as we were booked in a suite for five nights. This is very disappointing as we did not want to cancel, and it was not our choice to cancel. We just had no other option. This hard and fast rule felt like a procedure rather than a human response. Due to this, I will never stay at another one of this chain’s hotels.

Tips for Choosing Your Perfect Luxury Stay in Marbella

Selecting the ideal hotel requires more than just choosing a five-star rating; it is about matching the property’s character to your personal travel goals. The right choice can elevate your trip from a simple holiday to an unforgettable memory, while the wrong atmosphere might leave you feeling disconnected. By focusing on a few key aspects of your itinerary, you can narrow down the vast selection to find the one that feels tailored just for you.

Consider the Season and Vibe
Marbella transforms throughout the year. The summer months are vibrant, bustling, and perfect for beach clubs and socializing, often requiring early bookings for the best suites. Conversely, the shoulder seasons of spring and autumn offer milder weather, fewer crowds, and a more relaxed, romantic atmosphere, often with better rates for the same level of luxury.

Decide Between Beachfront and Old Town
Your location dictates your daily rhythm. A beachfront resort on the Golden Mile or in Puerto Banús offers direct sand access, sea views, and a resort-style experience with sprawling pools. Alternatively, a boutique hotel in the Casco Antiguo (Old Town) immerses you in Andalusian culture, with tapas bars and historic sites just steps from your door, though you will likely trade a large pool for a rooftop plunge pool.

Evaluate the Dining Scene
For many luxury travelers, food is the highlight of the trip. If gastronomy is a priority, research the on-site restaurants before booking. Some hotels boast Michelin-starred venues that are destinations in their own right, while others focus on exceptional local produce in more casual settings. Ensure the hotel’s culinary philosophy aligns with your palate.

Look Beyond the Room Rate
Luxury in Marbella often comes with a focus on wellness and leisure. Compare the facilities included in your stay. A hotel with a world-class spa, a state-of-the-art gym, or complimentary access to a prestigious golf course can add significant value to your trip. These amenities are often what separate a good hotel from a truly great one.

Assess the Level of Privacy
Marbella is a social town, but not everyone wants to be in the middle of the action 24/7. If you are seeking a secluded retreat, look for properties with private villas, exclusive adult-only areas, or expansive grounds that offer a sense of escape. For those who thrive on energy, a hotel with a lively pool scene and a central location will be a better fit.

Marbella’s luxury hotel scene is a testament to the city’s enduring appeal as a world-class destination. Each property brings its own unique flavor to the table, whether it is rooted in traditional Spanish elegance or cutting-edge modern design. The common thread among them is an unwavering commitment to guest satisfaction and the ability to create a sense of place that is distinctly Marbella.

Ultimately, the best luxury hotel is the one that anticipates your needs before you even voice them. By considering what matters most to you—be it the cuisine, the spa, the location, or the design—you can ensure your stay on the Costa del Sol is nothing short of extraordinary. Your time here is precious, and the right accommodation will make every moment feel effortlessly indulgent.
